Preferred Solution: Hello BSOD inside w124

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Hello BSOD inside w124

I can give you my configuration :
i5 2500 k
8 go ram ddr3 corsair 1600 mhz
p8p67 pro rev3.1 (last bios) (don't know if an update need to format)
gtx 460
seasonic 850 w
Windows 7 x64 ultimate

finally, the massage of the bsod deals with an uncorrectable hardware problem

Hello,

So first of all, I am not a computer wizard. Some terms I might not understand as i've never had a problem like this before, but i'll try to enlist as much information as possible.

Since last friday or so, i've suddenly encountered a BSOD. Now, i've had them before and it was only once. After a reboot it usually never happend again and everything was cool. But since friday, they popped up again. Mainly during playing Battlefield 1, but i've also had it happen during Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2.

I've had multiple BSOD errors, which are:

- IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
- BAD POOL HEADER
- MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
- SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
- APC_INDEX_MISMATCH

Now if it were one, I might've been able to pinpoint the issue, but.. They're constantly different errors that happen. Now, to explain a bit more in detail how it goes:

So i'm just playing a match of Battlefield 1. After 10/15 minutes give or take, it'll bring me to the blue screen. After processing whatever it has to process, computer shuts down and it starts to restart. At this point it will be stuck in an infinite restart loop, where my monitor will not display anything as well. It just says it's not connected to something, which it clearly is. After manually closing and rebooting, i'll have to do this a few times or mess with the HDMI a little bit before I get my monitor to pop up again. Once that happens, I get stuck in the beginning screen where you can see your HDD/SSD installed. It won't go further than that unless I ... Read more

Question: BSOD files inside

Hi there,

I've been experiencing a lot of BSOD since purchasing my new laptop.
I thought i fixed the problem with a fresh instal, but it's happening again.

Whenever i run verifier.exe, it causes a blue screen. I removed both sticks of ram separately, and still had the problem. I'm currently running in safe mode /networking, as that's the only way it will start without immediately going into blue screen (i believe verifier is still making this happen after a restart)

Here's the error report -

I decided to finally purchase a new computer, but also installing my own GPU and PSU.

I got the computer itself in the mail, took it a part and everything worked fine. I installed my GPU drivers, and immediately got a BSOD.

Funny thing is, whenever I configure the BIOS to boot using the OnBoard graphics, it works fine. I then can disable my OnBoard graphics, then it will force the PC to use my Nvidia GTX 550 TI.

Yet when I configure the BIOS to start up with my PCI slot, it blue screens.

Any ideas? Ive tried to Re-Install windows, but it ends up doing the same thing. Thinking of just returning the PC all together since I have a 1 year warranty

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.

I've recently built, delided and overclocked my first pc. Everything was running just fine, until recently, I found out that pressing restart inside the windows start menu will shutdown windows, but will always freeze when it starts up again on the spinning dots. It freezes even if I overclock by 100Mhz. It freezes when I manually set multiplier to 45 even though its a 4.5Ghz cpu. The pc starts up just fine, runs just fine, and shuts down just fine. This only happens when I use the restart option inside windows or when an update causes it to restart itself.

I have my cpu OCed to 4.9Ghz at 140mV offset LLC3. Under load it's doing 1.28v. Temps never hit over 79C in p95. My OC is stable for 10 Hours p95 blend, 11 hours p95 small FFT, and an overnight memtest86. It has never crashed on me inside of windows.

Googling tells me that the cpu can't handle the overclock, but I'm passing these stress tests with flying colors. Not only that, but manually setting the cpu to 4.5Ghz results in the same lockup when restarting inside windows. This doesn't happen when I set multiplier to 44 or below, or on stock settings. I've tried updating BIOS from 1.4 to 2.0. I've tried reseating the cpu. Nothing works. Most times, it would restart, and get stuck on the spinning dots and do nothing. Sometimes, it would BSOD after getting stuck on the spinnin... Read more

So the BSOD has only happened once but i have had 2 weird graphical issues where swtor crashed and both monitors flashed then my right monitor gets covered in GREEN SNOW. drivers are up to date and the BSOD came after the second time i got the green snow screen and had to reset the pc to get the snow off the screen. Heres the dump file. I also ran Memtest immediately after the BSOD just to check and it ran for almost 3 hours with no errors. 8gigs of ram and it made it through 2 full passes in that timeframe.

nVidia High Definition Audio and Cisco VPN are disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
Please enable these programs/devices, update their drivers, and then (if so desired) re-disable them again.

EVGA Precision (along with Riva Tuner and MSI Afterburner) are known to cause BSOD's in Win7 systems. Please uninstall this application immediately.

Your Abit uGuru drivers date from 2006. They must be updated or removed from your system.

Your nVidia System Utility Driver (nvoclk64.sys) dates from 2007. It must also be updated or removed from your system.

If you are overclocking, please stop while we're troubleshooting. Once we're finished and your system is stable, feel free to resume the overclock. The memory dump shows a small overclock (48 mHz).

Hello,

A little background:

Around a year ago I had signed up for Private Internet Access, which installs the TAP9 driver (OpenVPN I believe). I started to get blue screens on my machine (Win7 Ultimate x64), so I installed it on a 2nd Windows machine (identical OS). Same thing. As soon as I started the VPN, blue screen. I installed VirtualBox VM software, same thing on both machines. After trying various things, I ended up sending the motherboard back to ASRock (It was a Z87 Professional). They found nothing wrong, but I ended up doing a fresh install of Win7 and everything was great for about a year. Then I started having machine lockups and found out that my SSDs (Samsung 840 EVOs) were victim to the slowdowns that a lot of people were complaining about. I tried upgrading the firmware and running their "fix", then the blue screens started to happen again, this time at random times. Removed the drives, did a fresh install onto some WD Black drives, and everything was working fine. I thought the motherboard had finally crapped out as even with the onboard LAN ports, the network icon would end up with a yellow exclamation mark after about 5 minutes of usage. I had to use an add-on card to get it to work, so I decided to just build a pretty much brand new system.

I just built it today:
ASRock Extreme6/ac / Intel i7-5930K (brand new)
32Gb G.skill DDR4 (new)
Samsung 850 Pro (apparently these drives did not have the same problems as the 840s) (new) ... Read more

Answer:BSOD After connecting to VPN (details inside)

No one has any ideas either? I am stumped myself how this could happen. I tried connecting to a different router but with the same effect last night. Of course it's going through my FIOS router, but it kind of has to. I might try enabling the onboard Wi-Fi tonight and connecting via my phone's hotspot, I'm that much out of ideas.

Answer:(BSOD) Full report inside.

There are 2 dumps in the upload, one naming atikmdag.sys(video driver) the second
casino.exe which probably is video related.

2 dumps naming different process on a new install is usually hardware related, any chance you have another video card to test with?

We should probably also take a look at the temps and volts on the system. D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

What is your Anti-Virus program? How do you connect to the internet, is it Wireless or Wired? If Wired, update your Network Adapters driver. If you have a name brand computer (Dell, HP etc) go to the computer manufacturers Support/Download Drivers site and type in your Service Tag or Make and Model # and download the Network Adapter for your model. If you use Bit Defender AV:
Go to Start/Run and type ncpa.cpl and press enter. In the Network Connections, Right click the Local Area Connection/Properties/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Use other IP address....uninstall the anti virus security NDIS (Antivirus) mini filter...etc...

The Windows Debugging Tools aren't able to access symbols for your operating system files (in particular NTOSKRNL.EXE / NTKRNLMP.EXE / NTKRNLPA.EXE / NTKRPAMP.EXE) from the Microsoft Symbol Server - so that makes debugging them difficult if not impossible.

Please do the following:
- activate/validate the Windows installation at Genuine Microsoft Software
- run sfc.exe /scannow to replace any problem files
- open a support incident with Microsoft to see if they can fix the missing symbols issue ( Windows 7 Solution Center )
- If that doesn't fix it, then wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows
- don't use "leaked"/torrent builds

Hello all,
First time posting here so let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

So I have been having BSOD pretty regularly after a recent erase and install of Windows 7. At first it started off my keyboard would stop responding and I would have to restart my computer. The thing about that is it would hang at 'shutting down" and not do anything. Now I'm getting BSOD with mostly the same errors about twice a day with the keyboard thing. I tried using Verifier but it keeps crashing before it gets into windows. I'm attaching the dump logs from the SF Diag tool.

Hi GenericHero, welcome to SF .

I can relate as Iwas experiencing pretty much the same things you are that is why when going through
the dumps the picture painted in my head was a dying motherboard, which is what I had .

How old are the components?

Once the audio cuts out or freezes on a note the BSOD will occur in about 10-seconds.

Answer:BSOD - Crashes randomly about once per day.. details inside

Security Software: ??? Make sure to install security software. I recommend either of these:Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows coupled with Malwarebytes. Do not start the free trial of Malwarebytes. Just use the standalone version, update it, and scan your computer once a week with Malwarebytes and with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Good and Free system security combination.

After installing your security software, update it, and then run full scans today with each program. Report back the results of the scans.
Crashes are DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.
Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.

I have a Gateway DX4710-UB301A, with an AMD Radeon HD 6600 series and Windows 7 Professional. It randomly blue screens, no matter what I'm doing at the time. The error codes are in the attached picture. Also I don't know if it's related, but I have 6 GBs of ram installed (two 2gbs,and two 1gbs), but the system settings AND the BIOS say that it only has 4gbs, and I ran the diagnostic and it didn't detect any problems.

Hi and welcome to TSF!

So many different crashcodes usuall indicates a ram / memory issue.
Also, some systems / mobos do not seem to handle mixing different types of RAM sticks well.

Please as a test, take out the two 1GB sticks. See if it runs more stable. Also for more specific help, please upload full info as described here:

Windows XP x64 Edition
PSU: CoolerMaster Real Power RS-450-ACLY ATX12V 450W

I use the onboard soundcard, and have no PCI cards installed.

For starters: I built this machine about two and a half years ago, and it has been rock solid for the last two and a half years up until about a week ago.

Here's my issue: I started getting various crashes, everything from DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL to NTFS.sys or fasttx2k.sys (the onboard RAID controller of my motherboard's driver) to no BSOD and just random reboots.

I've got a fair bit of PC building experience and extra hardware laying around, so I decided to troubleshoot the problem for a bit myself before asking for help. I've cleaned all the parts with compressed air, and all the contacts of the RAM cards and my video card, but still no luck, the system still crashed.

I started by running memtest for a night, and it got through 8 passes on all 2GB of RAM with no errors. Kingston is usually quality RAM, so I didn't really think this was the problem.

Then, I unplugged my HDD's from the RAID controller, and stuck in an old IDE HDD I had laying around and formatted it to a new ... Read more

Okay, this is what I found:

Your first two Minis point to driver fault with tcpip.sys which is a file essential for a Windows based machine machine to use tcp/ip protocols (use Networking or the Internet).

There was also this warning that ntoskrnl.exe was unabled to be verified by checksum; therfore there is the possibility it could be either corrupted or missing.

* Microsoft has information on errors with tcpip.sys

Third Minidump - amdk8.sys which is an AMD Processor Driver required by motherboards supporting AMD Athlon processors.

In all three minies you will find them pointing to either X64_0xD1 errors (the first two) or X64_IP_MISALINGED (third one).

I know you did a fresh reinstall of XP, but the dumps are pointing to faulty drivers as the issues. Could it be your CPU???

By the way, I know several people who have the same motherboard and they all say the same thing, "Rock Solid."

Hi there!

I built this computer about three years ago (august 2009), and I don't remember when BSODs started. When they started, I didn't notice any regular pattern, but now I am suspecting it's something related to Internet Explorer and Windows Live Hotmail website.

Usually this pc is always on, and I'm used to let my browsers (and their tabs) open, always ready to navigate my fav websites.
If I let Windows Live Hotmail website opend for a while (few hours? a day?) in IE9, a BSOD appear when I click again on that tab.

OS info:
My OS is 64-bit Windows 7 Professional SP1.
I assembled my PC in august 2009 (installing a full retail WinXP 64-bit), then I installed this OS in august 2010.

Hardware info:
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67 GHz
ATI Sapphire VAPOR-X 4870 1GB GDDR5
Asus P6T SE
OCZ DDR3 6GB 1600Mhz Platinum Tri Channel

During blue screen, I read something related to atikmpag.sys.
I googled it and I follow instructions for updating/reinstalling video driver, but I never solved the problem.
Ps: sometimes, when BSOD happens, I get nervous and don't give system time to finish the dump... I don't know if this could be a useful info ^^

If you need any more details, please let me know!
I really appreciate your forum and the help you always give people.
Thank you!

Answer:BSOD playing LoL and minecraft, BCPcodes and other information inside

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (probably a driver).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have Raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you... Read more

I started playing World of Warcraft again last night, then I had a BSOD and I had another barely 10 minutes ago. The pc restarted soon after so I was not able to grab an image of it (I have since turned off the automatic restart so if it happens again I will obtain a picture.)
I'm not the best when it comes to fixing computer issues, I used to have BSOD constantly on my old computer until one day the harddrive just wouldn't work and I lost literally everything. Now I am on a ?600+ cyberpower PC built to my own specs, and I would rather fix the issue sooner rather than later.
Anybody that can give me any advice I will be eternally grateful for, and if I have made a faux pas on this forum please draw my attention to it, and I will resolve it. Cheers

This is the information I was able to obtain when windows had restarted... note, I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (which may not be entirely legit... hopefully that isn't too much of an issue)

Hello and welcome to TSF.

All bugchecks are video-related. The fact that a System Restore didn't help tells me that there's something wrong with that graphics card. I truly think your best bet is to send it back to the manufacturer or RMA the card.

I find it strange that it's so systematic if it's hardware-related, though. One thing you can try to do from Safe Mode is reinstall DirectX: Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

If that doesn't help, you can try removing the video driver via Device Manager (help here if you need it: Accessing Device Manager | DT Roberts) and seeing if you can get into Windows normally.

Keep us posted. Best of luck.

This bugcheck indicates a driver attempted to access a pageable memory address when the IRQL was too high (2), to access pageable memory the IRQL must be at 1 or below. In this case, even if the IRQL was below 2 it would still bugcheck, given that A page fault which is what occurs when invalid memory is referenced in pageable memory isn't allowed to happen about IRQL 1 and it's an invalid address, I believe the starting address for user mode is something like 0x00010000 anything below is reserved so accessing it is not allowed.

apperantly some outdated driver could be the cause of this. As a last resort I'm sharing my Minidump files and I hope you guys could help me.

So I very recently built my own desktop, everything was running well. Installed window 7 Ultimate and from there tonnes of drivers and windows updates popped up, the usual. However, at decently spaced times it would BSOD, but it's become more and more frequent I've tried to see if it was the drivers, most if not all are up to date. There's no issue with the hardware, I've tried hunting through the dump files but I don't know what I'm looking for. Any help on fixing this would be amazing, I'm so tired of this uphill battle.

I managed to grab a quick pic of the BSOD, hopefully it helps, sorry about the flash.

As per the instructions I've attached the folder containing the dumps and other goodies. Anything extra you need from me, let me know.

Thanks,
Raserhead.

Upon some digging of my own while waiting, i discovered that there is apparently 2 things causing the issue through BlueScreenViewer, and have been consistent throughout all the BSOD's:

hal.dll
ntoskrnl.exe

I'll attach BSV's full details of the most recent one.

I've looked into some fixes but none of them have worked, would anyone here have an idea of how to fix this? It would be greatly appreciated.

Dear all:Preface: Blackmagic Design support hasn't been of any assistance (common, apparently), so I thought I'd try here. The problem happens when running Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects CS6. I do not believe it to be a PP/AE problem as much as a Blackmagic problem, but I'm hoping someone here might be able to read the minidump better than I:I've seen a few Blackmagic Decklink users (not to mention BMD Intensity Pro users) mention BSOD issues with their cards, particularly when using PP/AE (much less discussion about AVID Media Composer). Thinking all would be fine to install a Decklink Studio 2 in my HP Z800 (a certified workstation by Blackmagic), I went ahead and installed the card in one of the 16x PCIe slots.I installed the Blackmagic drivers ("Desktop Video 10.1.2") from the BMD site, set video output on PP to include Blackmagic Playback and went to work. This setup seemed to work fine for about a week, until Premiere Pro locked up when playing back a sequence. A PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES BSOD came up.I tried to replicate the BSOD, and had no problem coaxing PP to lock up after playing the sequence once or twice, causing the BSOD again. Output from the Decklink to HDMI or SDI reflected the same lockup on my Sony LMD-940W field monitor via either the HDMI or SDI input. I was able to replicate the BSOD 3 times.Additionally, RAM rendering in AE would (and still does without BSOD'ing) render two frames in a loop unless the output to the Decklink is shut off. This is the ... All of the bug check are of a network related nature, be it afd.sys / Ak27x64.sys / Rt64Win7.sys

Hi Everyone:

This is my first post, I was on a PC hiatus while using Macs for a while, but gaming brought me back, and this seems like the place to post. I looked up my issue on Google and searched this forum to no avail.

I just got a new PC running windows 7 x64 with an AMD Radeon 7970 and Dual Screen Monitors via HDMI (One goes from DVI in the video card to HDMI on the monitor and the other just HDMI to HDMI, since the video card only has 1 HDMI port)
I have read through all posts here and have updated my direrctx (just in case) and uninstalled my Catalyst Control Center/Video drivers and reinstalled the newest versions.

If I am playing games, or when I leave my computer running and come back, I usually get:

Hello experts,

During the past 2 weeks i've been having some troubles with my brand new laptop and i want to make sure that this is not a hardware malfunction. Since my experience with debugging windows errors and troubleshooting such issues is pretty limited and basic i would like you to help me out with this before returning the unit to the vendor.

ROG edition G752VT laptop
8gb ram (1 stick)
gtx 970m
i7-6700hq
1tb hdd
no ssd
The only attached peripheral is a logitech m185 wireless mouse.
Nvidia drivers are latest (the only one system notified me needs update).

The laptop crashes, everything freezes for about 10 seconds or so then it automatically restarts. This only happened while having lineage2 (game) in background and browsing facebook using chrome, this time i had a steam download happening. Every bsod i got happened 1 second after i clicked a facebook or youtube link that opened a new chrome tab (not that it matters that much). The laptop came with w10 preinstalled and i was the first person to start it. I do not have any dubious, pirated or black market programs since i like to keep my system clean.

I'd like to point out that i got the laptop yesterday, had some issues with CPU load in background, it was about 20% used while doing nothing. Tracing the issue lead me to some ACPI.sys file that was using these resources unnecessarily. googling around i found out that this might be caused by a variety of different drivers/programs/situations.

Today , the CPU was in... Read more

I'd try rolling back to the previous ATI drivers.

System manufacturer and model?  Where/how did you "update" your working drivers?

Many of your logs show a problem with RT61.SYS, a wireless adapter driver. Try uninstalling and reinstalling your wireless adapter software.

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given futher down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First. If TDSSserv is not found, just continue on with the READ & RUN ME.

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Greetings,
I have been having various BSOD?s for months now. They are unpredictable and no one action causes them (That I am aware of).

I am running:
Vista x86 SP 2 (although the problem has occurred on SP 1)

On a custom built computer with:
M2N-SLI Deluxe MB
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
AMD Athalon X2 6400+
Recently replaced Turbolink 500w PS (The last PS fried, I was crashing before it did)
3 gigs of Mushkin RAM
1 Seagate and 2 WD HDD?s
Asus DVD drive
TSST DVD +RW drive
Aver Media M780 TV tuner (PCIe)

History/Steps taken:
The computer originally had a dual boot of Vista x86 and XP x86 and worked splendidly with no crashes for months. When it started to crash, and has continued to crash, I could not recall any recent hardware or software changes at the time. At the time, I restored the computer to an earlier state and it continued.

Recently I have:
Wiped the OS drive and completely reinstalled just Vista.
Flashed the BIOS and reset CMOS.
Ran the packaged RAM test with Vista (No problems. In the past I ram memtest 86+, and also had no problems)
Cleaned out and reinstalled older drivers for the Graphics card and tested for BSOD (All bsod?d)
Ran AusLogics diskdefrag multiple times.
Tested each stick of RAM in each slot on the MB (Each stick crashed in each slot)
Monitored temperature with Everest (Did not find anything abnormal, although it does not have RAM temp)
I have the side of the case open with the fans still plugged in (Couldn?t hurt... Read more

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. If empty (or non existent) please look in the following folders. C:\windows (the dmp should be called memory.dmp), and C:\windows\LiveKernelReports\Watchdog.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.

* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump... Read more

Basically ive been having the problem for a few months now, it wasnt as frequent BSOD to start but now the last 2 weeks its been every 2-3 hours, ive tried removing programs from the last few months and downloading driver after driver but i cant seem to find the source of the problem, if you need anymore info feel free to ask.

Answer:BSOD from Ndis.sys,ntoskrnl.exe & ataport.sys. DMP FILE INSIDE!

Are you using a USB PC Port adapter from 2Wire?

The driver, 2WirePCP.sys seems to have caused the Blue screen that generated the dump file.

Read more

Hello, Is it possible to desactivate the inside screen of the Yoga 260 to work with two extern screens without adding an extern graphic card or a dock. The 260 has a hdmi output but Lenovo provide also an adaptator that allowed you to connect a vga monitor. Unfortunatly when you use the vga output, the hdmi is automatically desactivated. That seems normal as the Intel graphic card do not support 3 screens. But what if you could turn of the inside screen? Can't we allocate the graphic card only to the two outside screens ? Thanks a lot and sorry for my english. R.

Answer:Yoga 260 : Turn off inside screen to allocate the inside graphic card on two extern screens.

Your English is fine. I was hoping someone with direct experience would reply. I don't have a machine here with that chipset to test on. I have one coming, but it will be a while. I am not suggesting that you take apart your new machine and risk breaking something, but I am a little crazy and if I had this question, this is what I would try: I would remove the bottom cover and temporarily disconnect the LCD cable. I would figure that if the VGA and HDMI would not both work at that point, it was hopeless and give up. If it did work I would start reading about chipset options

My PC:

OS - Windows 8.1 Pro (64 Bit)
CPU - 3.3Ghz Intel Core i5-2500k
Graphics Card - 1.25gb Nvidia GeForce GTX 570
Ram - 8gb DDR2
Power Supply - Thermaltake Toughpower 750w

I tend to use my PC a lot for gaming and for some reason during the past week, my PC has been crashing to BSOD every so often. The main culprit for this is "Guild Wars 2" which tends to run for 5-10 minutes and then crashes to BSOD all of a sudden. Then again, it's been happening with all of my games recently so GW2 isn't the only one.

I have had around 4-5 different BSOD error messages pop up but I only managed to write down two of them as they disappear so quickly.

The two I managed to write down were:

Video_Scheduler_Internal_Error

Critical_Structure_Corruption

I can provide any other info you wish, so please get back to me and let me know.

Many thanks!

I'm an audio engineer doing work in Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium edition. I have an HP dv6883us with a 1.83gHz Core2Duo with 3GB of RAM.

My system has been rock solid for months, then out of nowhere I started getting BSOD crashes the past few days. These crashes always happen when using audio software. Now, I'm using the onboard sound(I do have other sound devices that are better, but for convenience when at work I just use onboard) which is a Realtek HD Audio device. I use a driver "wrapper" called ASIO4ALL(www.asio4all.com) which basically takes the WDM drivers and lets it act as an ASIO driver, which gives the best performance in audio software generally. This is a setup that thousands of people use, and I've used it with no issues for months now on this system, and on several other systems for years.

Anyways, the BSOD crashes happen randomly, but always while using audio software. Sometimes it happens when I hit the "Stop" button in the software, or whenever I perform another action. But pretty random.

Now, the ASIO4ALL just uses the onboard sound and it's drivers, and traditionally is as stable as the drivers you have. My Realtek drivers are just the ones that the computer update software itself(from HP) installed, and are the latest version. I ran the verifier.exe on the drivers, even though all audio and video drivers are already signed by Microsoft. No errors or any other signs of instability came up.

Here is my debug information:

Answer:Soundcard related BSOD crashes- full info inside

The analysis says that RTKVHDA.sys is the image where the error occurred.
The date stamp on it indicates it's from Oct 2007 - which is fairly old.

I'd suggest uninstalling your RealTek audio drivers from Control Panel...Programs and Features, then install a freshly downloaded copy of the latest version of the drivers for your system.

Although there's no evidence of the ASIO4ALL program causing problems, that'd be the next thing that I'd check if the RealTek update doesn't fix things.

Hey all,

I recently re-installed windows 7 64 bit on my SSD and I'm constantly getting the infamous BSOD, or my computer just reboots and Battlefield 4 frequently crashes to the point

where it causes a system reboot. Even if I'm not gaming, I find I get forced reboots and I'm not entirely sure what the problem is. I know BF4 crashes for lots of people, but

I'm getting crashes even when I haven't run the game.

It doesn't appear to be a heat issue, I'm not particularly good at debugging, and after a couple months of these mysterious reboots / crashes, I'm losing my mind, since it'll

frequently happen when I browse the internet. I've scoured various forums and haven't been able to fix it, despite doing a full format and reinstall. I've downloaded various drivers to no avail.

I've already ran SPC /Scannow in admin mode, and no issues.

I've attached the dump data below. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Answer:BSOD playing BF4, or browsing on Chrome / Firefox, DMP files inside.

Hmm, did I make an error in my original post? Are the DMP files okay? I've never done this before.

CPU Cooler: Stock i5 cooler
RAM: 2x 4GB Kingston DDR3 1600MHZ
GPU: Gigabyte nVidia GeForce GTX 460
OS: Windows 7 64 bit

Got a BSOD 2 times already. The first time I got it after exiting a game of League of Legends. The second time got it right before trying to shut my PC down.

At the first time I took out the Turbo EVO overclocks cuz i thought that may be the problem. Didnt fix it.

The 2 BSODs happened on 2 separate weeks.

Didnt have time to read the message either times because the computer restarted too fast. Got the dumplogs and some temp file from the last one tho.

I want to know if this bsod is dangerous or if its fixable. And if its fixable what is the course of action.

Thanks for your time reading this,
Mooncow.

Hey guys!

If anyone could take a look at the .dmp file, it would be much appreciated.

I get a random BSOD at any random time.

Thanks!

*If you change the file to ".dmp" instead of ".txt" it SHOULD work.*

Answer:[SOLVED] Vista 64bit BSOD (Dump file inside)

Hi -

The dump has a bugcheck = 0x124 = WHEA - unknown hardware error

The only items of interest in the loaded driver listing is that your Marvell Yukon Ethernet driver needs to be updated -

Code:

I also noticed the very recent updates of ESET NOD32 and ATI video.

This message found in the dump -

Code:
*** Memory manager detected 1 instance(s) of page corruption,

Run memtest86+ 1 stick at a time, alternate slots - http://www.memtest.org/
Run chkdsk /r

Check the Device Manager - View tab, enable hidden devices - look for red/yellow flags

Hi there. I've been having somewhat frequent BSODs with various error messages. This is occuring *after*, not during, gaming sessions. The info attached is from playing Civ5 for a few hours, quitting, leaving the room, and seeing the BSOD. The message was "APC_INDEX_MISMATCH." Just now I had another from playing Diablo 3, minimizing, and a couple minutes later crashing (no .dmp file, "dumping physical memory to disk" stuck at 95 for 30+ minutes). The error was "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL."

Another problem occured after this last one. After booting to desktop, the computer immediately crashed to a blue screen. I didn't get a chance to see this message; the computer shut down. It then attempted to power on a few seconds later, and then shut down. It continued to power cycle like this until I flipped the power in the back. Nothing shows on the monitor. It's done this before too, though it occured again after playing a game last time. I believe it showed "IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL."

Now on to some other notes:I never crash *during* a game, just after.
The GPU (780Ti) is a few months new. I didn't really see BSODs before it, but it's taken a few months to get this frequent.
The PSU is a Corsair 850W. Not a cheap one and plenty of power for the new card.
I uninstalled/reinstalled graphics drivers. Maybe I didn't properly fully uninstall them? (I didn't use a third party program to uninstall)
Temps are fine. CPU and GPU are no... Read more

Hi,

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)

This indicates that Microsoft Windows or a kernel-mode driver accessed paged memory at DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.

This bug check is issued if paged memory (or invalid memory) is accessed when the IRQL is too high. The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver, system service, or BIOS.

Hello, this morning I received a blue screen upon turning my PC on, this 'page fault in non paged area' happens during the windows loading screen so I'm unable to get into my PC to get any real information for you guys, I'll write down my PC specs and what I was doing on my PC yesterday that might've caused this, I hope it helps!

PC specs

Windows 7 64bit
Motherboard - Asus Z87-k
CPU - Intel i5-4670k ( I've tried booting in both the stock setting of the CPU and the oc'd setting, neither work
Graphics card - Nvidia 780gt 4gb
RAM - 8gb (2 sticks) DDR3 1600mhz corshair 9-9-9-24
SSD - Samsung 840 pro series 128gb (OS is on this)
HDD - Seagate barracuda 2tb
CPU cooler - Corsair h80
PSU - corsair 750w

Yesterday on my PC I installed the latest windows update and ran 2 games for the first time (apologies if this means nothing )

I had bsod issues in the past but they were due to an over clocked graphics card which has since been reset and I've been all clear since

The only other thing I can give you guys is a picture of the bsod that I took if that's of any use?

Thanks for reading this, I'd be very greatful for any help on this issue, I'm not too knowledgeable on PC's but I will do my best to give you more information if you need it, cheers guys!

EDIT - I ran windows startup repair and it said it couldn't fix my problem automatically

Answer:bsod happening during windows loading screen (more info inside)

Just a quick update, I triedbooting in safe mode and the bsod still happened

Any help would really be appreciated!

and download the file to open Inside of IE. Once the file is open, none of the links either e-mail or web site works. However, if we open the same file Inside of Google Chrome, the links work. So, we want to know if we are missing something in IE or a plugin.
The PDF file opens with no problem but the links are not enabled. The file works in an Apple Machine and Google Chrome. However, if we download the file physically inside of the computer and then open the file with Adobe Reader, the links all work! Any ideas
how to solve this issue? Thanks Miguel Moreno

OK so I have been suffering from BSOD,freezing with no info that needs me to restart and graphical artifacts in and out of game.On top of that there are crashes happening randomly in various games and of different nature each time and even the internet browser crashes many times.(game errors can range from file verification errors to simple mapload crashes with no message)
Artifacts have happened since I upgraded to R9 280MSI but the BSOD happened before as well.Last GPU got fried.I thought it was my HDD but that died as well and the BSOD persists even while running single SSD.

I'm an audio engineer doing work in Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium edition SP1.

Anyways, the BSOD crashes happen randomly, but always while using audio software, except for one time I was just browsing the web.

No errors or any other sign... Read more

I almost always get a page fault in non-paged area and it gives me n4_disp.dll

Ive read the sticky and ran memtest+

Answer:BSOD crashes (Only whilst gaming) minidump and mcat debugged inside. Please help!

Hi,

It's most likely a hardware fault.

I do not know how to read the MCAT report that you have got in your post, but it doesn't exactly look good.

Start with a memtest.

Memtest instructions:

Download the ISO (or the .exe for pendrives) from here http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

Then (if you have chosen the ISO) burn the ISO using ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

Boot from the CD/USB and run the test with only one stick of RAM in place, if the stick passes then swap it into the other sockets in turn until you can be sure that all the sockets are fine.

Then test the rest of the RAM one at a time (no need to swap the sockets).

It is a time consuming process but it is the only way to be sure it isn't a RAM fault.

Final test is to run the test with all the RAM in place.

Reventon

I've been backing up "My Documents" with CDBurnerXP because

1. I consider Windows Backups to be opaque and I prefer to keep them simple and to know what is going on
2. Windows Backups does some things I believe are risky so I will not use it
3. Windows 7 had a deep directory structure problem and I presume Windows 8 continues to
4. It's ridiculous to backup "Windows" when I really only care about the safety of my data and since I am a slow typist who can't type at 3 Gigahertz it seems unlikely that I will ever have produced enough data that won't fit in one piece of optical media
5. I prefer to use a backup medium that has no moving parts and no firmware and humidity and mechanical shock resistant and contains no software and nothing vendor specific and blank DVDs are one such medium
6. I don't understand how a "backup DVD" can get scratched if there are never children and animals in the building (movie DVDs are a different matter)

Unfortunately, I can't continue down this route because my Windows 8 is now inside VirtualBox and I can't seem to make CDBurnerXP and Windows 8 recognize a blank DVD as a suitable target for a backup.

I am looking for suggestions for DVD burning software that is free and is known through your personal experience to work inside VirtualBox.

Answer:can I burn a DVD from inside Windows 8 inside VirtualBox

I can't comment on VirtualBox, but the most popular free burning program is Imgburn. Although I have Nero burning software, I find the Imgburn to be easier to use for iso CD's and DVD's.

The Official ImgBurn Website

I also use Macrium for backing up my PC's, but I back up to separate hard drives, not DVD media. There is a free version of Macrium.

very strange problem.

i have a folder on my desktop that used to be called "c++ programs" and has since been renamed to "goaway" (since it won't)

inside this folder which is located at C:\Users\bert\Desktop\goaway is a folder called C:

when i click it it brings me back to just C:\ - it acts like a shortcut - but it isn't! its my actual C drive. when i try to delete "goaway" it starts to send terabytes of data to my recycle bin. i CANNOT delete this folder! when i try, it will delete all that stuff and wipe most of the stuff from my C drive (which is.. uh.. important).

i went to cmd and cd'd to ~/goaway, and pressed Dir thinking its some sort of weird linking problem. heres a ss of the results:

I'm trying to clean out my old computer, which has a ridiculous amount of spyware. I have ran spybot and adaware, and they check it thoroughly, but every time I try to fix the problems or delete them at the end of the scan it gets through that and freezes. I try it again, and the viruses are still there. And the same thing happens. What do I do?

Question: Looking inside MFT

This is more of an observation than a question. I've always wondered what data is contained in a Master File Table. Finally I get to take a look and see nothing to cause concern. No traces of deleted personal files and the like. If anyone is interested here are a couple of screenshots showing portions of the data inside the MFT on my machine.

Answer:Help Please - HJT Log Inside

Hi manimillion and welcome to the BC forums. After reviewing your log it appears that you have a VX2 infection. Please proceed with the following steps. Please download l2mfix.exe.Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!I will review tha log when it comes in.OT
