I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: please help me to solve BSOD error

These are STOP 0x124 errors - which are generated by the CPU and then reported to Windows. Not very easy to read.

That being said, they are most often related to hardware failures or compatibility issues.
Have you run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor (free here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e-advisor.aspx ) to see if that's an issue?

Have you added any new hardware/software recently that might be causing a problem?

Hey folks, im quite new around here, hope ya dont mind! Anyway, i was getting horrible BSOD when i tryed to play any games lately, and i havent changed any hardware, which really makes me suspicious of what have caused it. Nevertheless i found out that you could do this Driver verifier, and test if some drivers are causing BSOD, so try it out.

Correct me if im wrong, I just did the first half of the procedure (clicking those 5-6 things for the non-microsoft drivers) and it asked me to reboot. And yes, the windows BSOD when i tryed to boot it (which shows that there is some drivers who is messing this up). There is suppose to be another half of things ;

Question: More BSOD to solve

Hello problem solvers,

I've done quite a bit of searching about my BSOD issues today and the underlying theme has been to share the minidump data. So that's what I'll do. I had to split it into two due to the file size requirement.

As you'll see by the dates, this started happening a couple months ago, but was infrequent. Now it is happening all the time.

I feel like I made a little progress in determining at least part of the problem. Motioninjoy.

When my PS3 controller is not plugged in via USB or dongle, I don't seem to have any issues, though I haven't let the system run for very long to know for sure. However, every time I connect the controller, instant BSOD. I have been running Motioninjoy for months and haven't made any changes, so why this is happening constantly now is a mystery to me.

I uninstalled the program (and removed the MijXfilt.sys file manually) per the advice on another forum, then reinstalled an earlier version of the software. Connected controller and had the same problem. It's interesting though that I have gotten errors not involving this file as well, which makes me think it may be contributing to the problem, but isn't necessarily the root cause.

I read on another thread on these forums that McAfee is likely to blame for the mfewfpk.sys error, but that only showed up recently. I'm thinking of uninstalling McAfee anyway. Is that a good next step?

I also read that Wdf01000.sys is referring to a ... Read more

Hello,

I've recently been getting BSOD on startup of my computer. It typically will go to the BSOD while the desktop and services are loading up. Can't do anything as the computer is stuck in an endless loop of startup, BSOD, restart...repeat. I have to go into safe mode with networking to do anything. I used the windows debugging program and it indicates likely tcpip.sys as the cause but I don't know why and can't figure it out beyond that. I thought it might be from Dawmon Tools but after uninstalling it is still giving me problems. Attached are some of the mini-dump files. If anyone can help, that would be great.

Answer:BSOD Can't solve, please help

NOTE: I have severe eye problems. If I do not respond to your postings, please PM another staff member for assistance.

NOTE: Please provide the following information for a more detailed response: http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html

When troubleshooting BSOD's here, we generally assume that Windows drivers (such as tcpip.sys) aren't at fault - even if the debugging tools say so. This is because of the different protection features in Windows, and the fact that we just don't see many issues with Windows drivers.

Just FYI, BSOD's occur in this order:
- 3rd party driver problems
- malware/hacked files
- compatibility issues (primarily in new OS's - less frequent in older OS's)\
- hardware problems
- Windows problems

But, in the case of tcpip.sys, there's other associated 3rd party drivers that could be causing this (as this is a networking driver, we suspect 3rd party networking stuff). Most common are wired and wirelss device drivers, along with Internet Security/Security Center/Firewall drivers. Daemon Tools is also a possiblity, but you have to take the extra step of removing the sptd.sys driver with a special tool (more on that later if necessary).

All of the memory dumps are STOP 0xD1's and theyp all point to tcpip.sys.
Since nothing more specific is cited, I'd suggest running Driver Verifier according to these directions:

Answer:Solve BSOD

Hi,

All of the attached DMP files are of the UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f) bug check.

This bug check indicates that the Intel CPU generated a trap and the kernel failed to catch this trap.

BugCheck 7F, {8, 80050033, 406f8, fffff88005edd88b} The 1st parameter of the bug check is 0x00000008, or Double Fault, indicates that an exception occurs during a call to the handler for a prior exception. Typically, the two exceptions are handled serially. However, there are several exceptions that cannot be handled serially, and in this situation the processor signals a double fault. There are two common causes of a double fault:
A kernel stack overflow. This overflow occurs when a guard page is hit, and the kernel tries to push a trap frame. Because there is no stack left, a stack overflow results, causing the double fault.
A hardware problem.

Hi! anon83, welcome to 7F

It doesn't show in your system specs, but do you have this type of NIC? NETGEAR WG311v3 54Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter

One item I saw was:

NETGEAR WG311v3 54Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter, cannot start properly. It may not have the correct driver installed or may be experiencing a hardware failure.

I'd start by upgrading your drivers for this device.

You have a lot of reading to do first:

On page 1-10 start with Removing the WG311 v3 Software, and Upgrading the WG311 v3 Software in Chapter 1 Basic Setup.

I`ve already tried to solve the BSOD problem, by reinstalling the drivers for wifi. But after 5 days, BSOD has returned.
On right-click windows explorer crashes, and I can`t run programs as administrator (as described), so I tried regular procedure, and I think it`s successful.
Besides, I lost icons on menu bar (this does not cause much problems to me, but it signs something).
I`ve found this forum, and I hope somebody will help me. Until now, I`ve tried to find virus or something similar, but, it seems I haven`t any.
So, here is attachment, as in `Posting instructions`.

In addition, I have Dell Inspirion M5030, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1, retail, system is 7 months old, and has never been reinstalled, except upgrade to SP1. It connects to the internet by wireless connection.

I hope this has enough informations, thanks in advance.

Answer:Cannot solve BSOD

I wouldn't quite put my money on it being a driver. While the single crashdump you provided doesn't offer a definitive answer, your syslog does show up some worrying symptoms. First, it shows that you've had several memory-related BSODs, as well as a couple of crashes from the Windows Antimalware service (part of Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials) showing up as being caused by accessing bad memory. To add, I see a flurry of disk errors coming from a number of partitions, all from Harddisk2 (can't describe better what disk it is, you might be able to tell though). This is also in addition to a number of Ntfs errors reporting file system corruption that constantly appeared during Feb 21 and 22. Ultimately, these do not look like patterns caused by bad drivers.

You should not rule out hardware malfunctioning here, but if you're determined it's software you can at least turn on Driver Verifier as that has a good chance on catching a bad driver if it does so happen to be the case. Otherwise, it's time to start hardware testing, as recommended below:

RAM: Memtest86+ - 7+ passes
CPU: Prime95 - Torture Test; Large FFTs; overnight (9+ hours)
GPU: MemtestG80/CL - Run twice (if any of the tests work on your GPU)
Drives: Seatools - All basic tests aside from the Fix all or the advanced ones.

All of these (excluding MemtestG80/CL) are included in the UBCD if you prefer a Live CD environment (which is the best environment to test... Read more

Hi all,
Have a Zotac ZBOXHD-I33 mini-PC that I use with my 50inch plasma as a media PC and been having random BSOD's for way to long and can't seem to figure it out. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when it happens... BSOD will happen during watching bluray's (CPU's only at 20%) and then sometimes when there is no activity at all and the computer is just sitting. Have completed latest 3 passes with memtest and no issues there.

Have attached BSOD dump as well as System Check.

4 GB Ram - Kingston KTA-MB900/K2/4G
NVIDIA IO 2nd Gen 512MB DDR3
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (OEM version that I installed)
System is around 1 year old

Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi,

Quite a few of your historical BSODs appear to be related to McAfee AV. I suggest first uninstalling it to see if the problems resolve. Also update your networking drivers:

If the above does not stop the BSODs, there could be an underlying hardware issue.

Hi, i need help !

Dont know whether this is the right place to be or not.

Recently i've got an error saying: "virtual scsi driver not detected" from the program: Daemontools
It pops up on startup and then i get the Blue Screen Of Death with this particular errormessage:

***STOP 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0xB724FB75,0xB600D7F0,0X00000000)

My laptop then reboots over and over again until i manage to get it into safe mode.
I thought it was a problem with a virtual drive, so i uninstalled the program. (daemontools)
It did'nt help a bit, only now the SCSI/RAID host controller drive in device manager has vanished.
(I don't have the error protocol for the SCSI/RAID, before i uninstalled it had a yellow exclamation)

I still get the BSOD.

I've searched the internet for solutions and i must admit, that i dont know anything about computers.
That is why i do not dare to try to update BIOS.
I've done a ram check but it showed no errors(i had four tests running)
everything else i'd tried has had no effect.
I've tried to do system restorage, but i can't get past the "validate restorage date". I press Next, but nothing happens.
I've tried repairing my OS, but it seems, that for some reason it is not possible. Can an early Xp-cd be non-combatible with my current OS?

In other topics, people have posted their system specifications, but i can't find my own.
This is what i could find though...

Answer:More BSOD.. No Idea how to solve..

I'm seeing code corruption occurring frequently on multiple modules. It means most likely you have bad RAM, and it most assuredly means you have bad hardware. You will want to do some hardware testing, starting with Memtest86+ and letting it run overnight. Any errors at all means you got bad RAM, and you will want to start testing sticks separately to see which one is causing it (being kernel code, it's the stick in the 'last' slot).

In all my years of using a computer, I have never encountered a problem as insidious as this one. I've tried every diagnostic tool available, tried every fix in the book, tried every method of troubleshooting I am aware of, and have come up empty. A full OS reinstall didn't even fix the problem, but I still can't make an airtight case for hardware fault. This error is truly an enigma. First, let me give you a little background.

My computer first started to randomly BSOD after about a year of using Vista Business x64. There was no particular trigger I could find, and I ignored it at first, thinking it was just a fluke. This went on for several weeks, and eventually I started getting annoyed enough to investigate. The first thing I tried was hard disk check, as more than a few errors cited ntfs.sys as the culprit (others mentioned tcpip.sys, and various errors with the paging subsystem). The scan picked up a few errors, and so I resumed normal computer use with a sigh of relief. But sure enough, not too long afterwords, the blue screen made a comeback.

The next step was a memory diagnostic. I ran memtest86 on the most rigorous settings, for no less than three passes, but no errors were found. Days passed, BSOD errors continued.

The next thing I tried was an OS reinstall. I figured that an in place reinstall of Vista would almost definitely take care of the problem. This is where I hit the first real snag. Every time I tried to reinstall Vista, the computer would BSOD b... Read more

3 different installs of (pretty much) different OS's, new HDD, and still and issue? While I would not consider a Beta or RC OS for troubleshooting this kind of issue at this point I would probably check for a BIOS update myself.
Before that though, if you have not already done so you may also want to test your machine by removing any peripheral cards that you do not absolutely have to have to run your machine; ie, just the motherboard, RAM, and a video card if your motherboard does not have one integrated. Just in case it is an incompatible driver for one of these devices that is causing the problem.

My screen has blue screen appeared, it hanged and restarted.

I use bluescreenview to see the properties and it says Caused by Driver dxgkrnl.sys

Here are the screenshots

Recently when I am surfing the net in browser, sometimes I see black cubes/rectangles appearing. I have updated the video card drivers but the cubes/rectangles still appears. Today is the first time I encountered blue screen. A few weeks ago my screen also hanged.

Is my video card (AMD Radeon HD5770) going to spoil? Is there a way to confirm if the video card is spoiled?

Or is the blue screen caused by something else?

Thanks

Answer:BSOD, not sure how to diagnose, solve

You're right, it looks like a hardware problem. Probably a memory issue. Looks like the system tried to write to a bad sector. You might reseat the sticks or try just one stick just to test if you have more than 1. See which stick is causing the problem. There are lots of free memory checkers out there. Could try one. If its a bad stick memory is cheap.

Is it a continuing problem? Obviously try a restore to b4 the bitdefender install.

Now i do know a thing or two bout computers but this one is goin over my mind... Lately i keep getting random BSOD's but mostly while using the pc heavily (CoD4 or Crysis for example but also virusscanning or defragging)

PC specs u can read on my acc i guess so i'll continue,

I've downloaded memtest86 and it told me my 1GB A-Data stick (tested all 3 seperatly) is (very) broken. I got bout 18 errors @ 27% checking... After that @ the 19th it BSOD'd again.

The error codes were usually only 0xc00000050 (or a 0 more or less) and NO fault message.

Now i've ripped out that memchip and run on the remaining 512MB and that specific BSOD stopped.

Now i am having BSOD's containing PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and after reboot (which always works fine) i get 3-5 windows has recovered from a serious error or whatever it is. (SRRY FOR LANGUAGE but my windows & me is dutch | send - don't send reports i mean)

I get those mostly while also ''stressing'' my PC. I've ran memtest86 several times again up till 700% and no errors. Now idk how trusty it is but i guess it's fine.

I'm starting to think either my VGA card or my (likely) HDD is gone.

I've tried to be as full as i can about this but if you need any more info i'll look for it.

I'd love some help with this matter since i love my li'l old PC...

Thanks in advance,

'#Thund3R~>

Answer:BSOD Problems and i can't solve em.

Have you ran a chkdsk /r on your HD to check for bad sectors?

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA is usually a memory error but it could also be a bad driver or application.

Attach the latest memory.dmp file from the crash (C:\windows\minidump) and we can see whats happening

Heya,

I have a bit of an issue with a Toshiba Laptop I'm dealing with (for a friend) and I was wondering if I could get any advice on what to do?

Basically, you can't start up the machine past the Windows XP loading OS screen. I don't know what they did but it seems as if an essential system file has been deleted or corrupted because every time you try to start it up, the machine just shows a Blue Screen (BSOD), and the same thing happens if you try and start up in Safe mode.

It's impossible to get a code from the BSOD as the laptop restarts itself after showing the message for 1 second, and the cycle restarts. I don't believe she has any recovery discs for the machine either, but I have a copy of Windows XP Home lying around somewhere if need be.

Any suggestions on what I can do, as the only thing I can think to do is reinstall Windows (I can imagine will also be a problem).

Anything?

Answer:BSOD at startup - How to solve it?

Mostly the BSOD happens because of the serious software fault or because of the hardware malfunction. In you case I would say, its software.
The BSOD messages don?t help in most cases because you will get some memory dumps? the common user is not able to read such messages.

I think you should try to reinstall the OS. If you haven?t the recovery CD then use you Windows CD and after this installation you could install the Toshiba drivers from the page.

My mom's computer has been crashing lately. After the first one her internet has been slow and Internet Explorer started freezing.

She said durring the last crash she only had firefox running

She has norton internet security and I have no reason yet to belive it's a virus.

She removed a lot of stuff after the first crash, the disk is defragmented, no unusual processes, and I ran a system consistancy check (the one under "repair my computer" after rebooting with f8).

Hi,

I built my Core2 machine about 4-5 months ago and Vista64 Ultimate has been no problem. All of a sudden the other morning I found it idling with no O/S running. I rebooted and all day it kept cutting out every 30-60 minutes. I can't find any rhyme or reason or isolate to any specific actions. I looked in device manage and it had a ! by the display adapters icon and something else that's now gone from the list UBS, SMU or something (not USB adapters). I reinstalled the video card adapter driver from CD and pulled out the card and plugged it back in and thought I was fixed. After about 8 hours it happened again so I uninstalled AVG free because it said it was corrupted (probably just the definitions). This morning I found the machine idling again.

I can't read the blue screen fast enough other than to read SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Windows update had been doing updates (I was unaware 'til yesterday) and other than AVG nightly updates, there is nothing new on the machine recently.

The hardware is straightforward and the video card is the only card on the system. I have 4 matched 1 GB sticks of RAM and a great set of fans. The video card is an Asus EAH3450 - rather simple card w/only a heat sink though.

How can I even go about tackling this isuue? Is there software that does diagnostics or is it endless guessing?

Thanks guys.

Answer:BSOD - any ideas to solve it?

Every time the OS crashes it creates a DMP file in the \Windows\minidump directory. That "dump" file is a summary of the software conditions at the time of the crash. Analysis of the dump(s) can frequently help to pinpoint the cause of software-related crashes.

If you copy the latest few DMP files from that folder to a different location, then zip them up and upload the zip file, someone may be able to tell you why the machine is crashing.

I got this computer about a month ago, at first it was great, but it quickly became plagued with Blue Screens of Death (BSOD) *Keep in mind that because it was new I had to install a lot of my own programs and make things personalized*. I am unsure of the problem and have been dealing with some of the errors manually. Ex: The AVGIDS file was giving me a problem so I shut down that part of AVG (haven't had a problem with that one since)

Possible Causes <-- From my point of view

Registry Errors
Bad Drivers
System Errors caused by installed programs

Things I've done <-- Probably not a good thing

Uninstalled excess programs I didn't use. Ex: Open Office, TeamViewer etc

Let's start with this:
There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

I recently figured out how to solve the BSOD problem which occurs usually while doing graphic things such as video games....movies etc.

Download Service pack 2, and save on a cd.

Next format your computer, and as soon as its formatted install service pack 2 before you do anything (before installing all drivers n all).

And then after ur done installing service pack 2, go get Norton Antivirus 2005 and voila! ur done! The BSOD should not return.

3 of the memory dumps (all from 20 Aug) are Verifier Enabled memory dump files

What settings did you use in Driver Verifier?

You have a Samsung printer driver (SSPORT.sys) from 2005. Please uninstall it and then make sure that SSPORT.sys isn't present in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder.

For some time my system has been shutting down after BSOD.
This started some time ago and occurred primarily after "Auto Updates" from Windows. I looked at the files and found it was linked to my Ethernet RTL 8168/8111. I just chose to ignore it since I do not use the Ethernet.
In the last two to three weeks it has gotten worse. The system would give me the BSOD any time the system enters sleep mode.
At first I tried to debug it myself, but kept getting error codes on the symbol files, with the Bug check C4, and a note "Most likely caused by NTOSKRNL.EXE."
I followed various threads in the forums to try and correct, from system restore to reloading the NTOSKRNL from the recovery disk. None of that worked.
I finally un-loaded the Ethernet drivers and reloaded with updated drivers and tried again. Now the sleep BSOD is intermittent. The error code I am consistently getting is Bug check A, and most likely caused by NTKRNLMP.EXE
Device Dr Pro has been run and it list all drivers as current.
The zip file contains the last three minidumps, Sorry, I deleted the previous in trying to troubleshoot where my errors were coming from.
I am not a total computer 1 D 10 T, but I am limited in the software troubleshooting. I have reached my maximum capabilities in trying to figure out where the error is coming from and how to resolve it.
Hardware wise I have cleaned, checked and reinstalled all my memory, performed multiple extensive Disk and memory checks and fou... Read more

Answer:I can't Solve my BSOD, consistant Bugcheck 'A'

Hi

Based on the BSOD and logs please do the below...

1. All BSOD refer to like you said Bugcheck A which in all the dump files refer to a nt!ExpScanGeneralLookasideList ..thats the Lookaside list used by the drivers (or in this case it could very well be the storage class driver ) for paging purposes....

You also have backup and VSS errors to partition D:\ (or the WDC WD5001AALS-00L3B2 Device)..

So disable the backup and volume shadow services and

Then do a chdsk first as well as use crystaldiskinfo to post snapshot of the SMART value for this drive..

Quote:

How many passes did you do for the memtest... and what extensive disk check have you done

2. Please remove Avanquest fix it and Trusteer and Device Dr Pro completely (not sure why do you use these !! )

3. Remove printkey 2000... You would anyway have to run this in compatibility mode. Try using the snippet tool in Win7 or other third party tool like Snagit etc

4. Remove Trendmicro and use MSE ( Microsoft Security Essential)

5. Update you ATI integrated graphics driver to 12.6

6. Please update or reinstall your itunes software.. There were lots of task scheduler errors caused by Bonjour

Do these and let me know how it goes

My screen has blue screen appeared.

I use bluescreenview to see the properties and it says Caused by Driver dxgkrnl.sys

Here are the screenshots

When I am sufing the net in browser, sometimes I see black cubes/rectangles appearing. I have updated the video card drivers but the cubes/rectangles still appears. Today is the first time I encountered bluescreen. Is my video card (AMD Radeon HD5770) going to spoil? Or is the bluescreen caused by something else?

Thanks

Have noticed that there is no guide as such on here on how to fix the dreaded BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death), this issue is generally noticed on bootup, you will get past your BIOS loading and your stsem will start to load windows. All of a sudden the screen flashes blue and then your computer restarts and asks you to load in many different ways i.e. Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking....Last Known Good Configuration.

Well this is the basic way of fighting back, all is not lost =0)

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Insert your Windows XP CD into your PC

Boot from disk (may have to go into BIOS and change the boot order)

Ask windows to repair (hit r)

This will bring up a black background with white writting, with something along the lines of <C:\Windows>_

You need to type "chkdsk /r" without the " "

This will repair your OS, once it has repaired your system can take about 30mins-60mins, you need to type "exit" again without the " "

This will reboot your system and you should get into XP =0)

Fixed it hopefully.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

If this doesn't fix it then it generally falls to a hardware issue, i.e. corrupt harddrive

Answer:How To Solve A BSOD (Blue Screen)

A word of caution here : chkdsk won't solve any BSOD. The only occasion where it works most of the time is when a BSOD appears at startup after the computer wasn't shutdown properly (power failure, used the power or reset button instead of the shutdown option within Windows, ...). If a BSOD appears at startup right after you installed some new driver or program and Windows was shutdown properly then chkdsk won't help, safe mode or the last known good configuration will.

Also if one suspects the hard drive is physically failing (if you get a S.M.A.R.T. error message before the BSOD appears for instance) then you should definitely not run chkdsk since this could damage the drive further. The priority should be to backup all your personal data, by hooking the hard drive in another computer if needed.

If any doubt remains it's always better to post the exact content of the blue error screen (complete error code and any file names that show) here.

Can start my system in safe mode, but even after attempting a clean boot, normal start up leads me to a BSOD.

Pretty sure this was caused by an infection of somekind, because of which I had restarted my system to attempt to remove in safe mode and am now getting this BSOD and cannot find the problem? :

Errors: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x9974D5EB, 0x8D464A60, 0x00000000)

Answer:Cannot solve BSOD, tried clean dump, what next?

For the time being let's approach this from a different angle. 0x8E errors, though sometimes can be caused by bad drivers, are almost always caused by faulty hardware and are a good indicator of corrupted memory. So...

We suggest you run memtest on your RAM.

See the link below and follow the instructions. There is a newer version than what is listed; use the newer. If you need to see what the Memtest screen looks like go to reply #21. The third screen is the Memtest screen.

Step1 - Let it run for a LONG time. The rule is a minimum of 7 Passes; the more Passes after 7 so much the better. The only exception is if you start getting errors before 7 Passes then you can skip to Step 2.

There are 8 individual tests per Pass. Many people will start this test before going to bed and check it the next day.

If you have errors you have corrupted memory and it needs to be replaced.

Step 2 ? Because of errors you need to run this test per stick of RAM. Take out one and run the test. Then take that one out and put the other in and run the test. If you start getting errors before 7 Passes you know that stick is corrupted and you don?t need to run the test any further on that stick.

I had started having this problem a week ago. I think this was one of the hardest virus. But I really didn't want to mix antivirus software because it will eventually mess OS up and make me format my HD. So I started my journey to manually fix this problem. After a couple of days, I could find a solution that worked.

Problem Description.

1. 5 or 10 seconds after login to Windows 7 64-bit, the system goes to BSOD stating a problem with iastor.sys

2. Since it happens after login, after reboot, you don't get repair option at the startup, but only safe mode options, even safe mode with command prompt, that will eventually crash at some point.

3. Even after getting recovery CD or repair option enabled, and fixing the problem with "bootrec /fixmbr" and "bootrec /fixboot", BSOD will happen again at the exactly same time around 11:30am in the next day.

A solution: This is a solution I found, which means that you can accomplish this in many other ways.

1. Get to repair command prompt. I could do this by creating another error - by setting HDD mode to compatibility in BIOS. This will create startup error and thus system repair option will appear in startup after reboot.

2. When you get repair mode, skip repairing and try to get to the dialog showing advanced options. This can take 10-20 minutes for some reason I don't know.

3. In advanced options, go to command prompt and do following before restart

bootrec /RebuildBcd
bootr... Read more

Hi everyone,

I have a new laptop (Lenovo Carbon X1 Thinkpad) that was purchased in January. In the last couple of weeks, I have had about 10 BSOD, all of which have the same error code (2057).

I am self-employed and based in Rome so dont have access to an IT helpdesk or an english speaking place to help me and I definitely don't have the expertise to even try to figure this one out! I am attaching the debug files so that maybe someone can have a look through them for me and see if there is an obvious solution?

Any help would be be greatly appreciated. If you need any more information, please let me know.

Thanks,

Hi all. I have been having BSOD issues with my Desktop PC for months. I have tried to search on the Stop Codes and followed instructions to resolve that I have found on the internet, but no improvement. Can anyone please step me through finding the log/crash information on my PC that may assist with finding the problem software or hardware please? I can then upload the information for further assistance.

I am running Windows 10 and have 'reset' the operating system. I have also used Driver Booster to update drivers. I have attached the following files of my system:
a. System Information Report.pdf - specification of system generated by Driver Booster.
b. SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip - generated by SysnativeBSODCollectionApp
c. Perform_Report_JphnC18.zip - generated by SysnativeBSODCollectionApp
* SysnativeBSODCollectionApp.exe - Sysnative (link used to download and run the BSOD app)

OK, thanks in advance for any advice/assistance.

Hello SevenForums

I've been getting a few BSOD's in the last few weeks. (only 3 over 3 weeks)
I'm not entirely sure what is going on, but I have noticed two of the times it blue screen'd was when I Middle clicked (the scroll wheel) to either close a tab or something else. it just always says win32k on the blue screen.
I'm not 100% sure how to read or view Dump logs, so any help on that would be good!

Thank you!

I've uploaded a rar file containing all 3 files.

I've updated audio/video drivers, motherboard drivers & so on.. I don't know what else to do.

Hi SamG85,

Welcome to the 8forums.

With the bluescreen of the 20th, there are some problems.
These problems could indicate that there is some hardware damage.
Because of what the dump says I think it is related to the GPU.

Code:
Probably caused by : dxgmms1.sys

Please follow the instructions below for testing the GPU.

Diagnostic test

GPU TEST

Run Furmark to test your GPU. Furmark tutorial

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes

Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if temperatures rise too high

Thanks for any guidance you can give.

Answer:win 7 pro 64 bit several BSOD in the past two weeks unable to solve

Welcome to the forum,

Did you put the Crucial RAM in? Your earlier dumps show one Crucial and one Samsung module.

Your last dump does show both Crucial though. Are they a matched set? I get different results searching the part numbers.

Did you run Memtest86+ for 8 passes? That is the definitive test length.

Your last dump is flagging AVG,

Code:
Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\avgidsdrivera.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for avgidsdrivera.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for avgidsdrivera.sys
avgidsdrivera+0x130f1
You can try uninstalling that for now and just use MSE for the time being, to see how it acts.

Someone else might come along with more info, that's just what I saw.

Dear all,

I am currently facing BSOD issues, possibly related to the Atheros driver. I had this problem last year, but after downloading a good version of the driver then, everything was good again. Today, it started to happen again: 3x already. Always saying the issue was related to athrx.sys.

Please find attached the system reports.

Answer:PFN_LIST_CORRUPT 0x0000004e BSOD problem and can't solve it

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. If empty (or non existent) please look in the following folders. C:\windows (the dmp should be called memory.dmp), and C:\windows\LiveKernelReports\Watchdog.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump... Read more

I'm having problems with my laptop and have had similar problems throughout its working life. I have wiped the system twice in the past 2.5 years, which solved the problems for a few months, then they came back! I have BSOD on waking the laptop up from hibernation and also from shutting the laptop down, sometimes happens when the laptop has been on for a while (3 hours generally). The BSOD code is STOP: 0x0000007F (0x00000008, 0x805D3130, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). Tried doing a memory diagnostics check, it got to 97% without finding anything, but then crashed and I had to turn the laptop off. The fan of the laptop runs almost constantly and the GPU regularly hits 65-70 degrees celcius.

My computer-savvy friend suggested that upgrading to Windows 7 may go some way towards improving my laptop's performance, however he's never tried doing it and recognises that it might not work. So before I invest in the ?80 for the upgrade, does anyone have a good idea as to whether or not it will work?

hey guys, im running windows xp and vista on the same pc, and with both of them i seem to get the same problems, sometimes, the motherboard, an MSI K9N SLi Platinum, would just cut off or something, and i remain with a black screen but the monitor light remains on green. in other instances, the motherboard resets and begins to post, then on booting into windows, either vista or xp, i get a bsod before windows can load up. the strange thing, is that the only thing to solve this problem temporarily, is to clear my CMOS memory, this allows me to boot into an O/S for some time, ranging from a day to 3 or 4 days until the problem arises again. I'd like to know what causes these bsod's and i'm attatching a rar file with some of my dump files. Thanks in advance to anyone who can solve my problem. P.S. these dump files came from windows XP not Vista

:cool

It took me a while but I figured it out.

You will notice after downloading and installing the Intel chipset from the ACER site (or the Intel site) you will get the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). The Intel chipset driver is Intel Mobile 945 chipset.

I don't know the cause of the error but I think the Acer Aspire netbook (AOD250 in my case) does not use all the Intel chips that are in the driver package, but just a guess.

So here is what to do to fix the problem: If you are still at BSOD no need to re-install Windows (XP in my case) just hit the F8 button and go back to the ?Last know good configuration?, then uninstall the chip set driver in Add/Remove programs in the Control panel.

Then go to the device manager unknown device SM Bus device and update the drive. Now point the drive to where you extracted the original Intel chipset driver. The SM bus will now install. Now you can go and fix any more missing driver from the Acer support website.

To do the install clean do this: Install Windows (XP) then once it?s done download the Intel Mobile 945 chipset from the Intel site or the Acer support site.

Extract the file to a know location? Now no not install the whole package with the Setup Icon. Just go to the Device Manager and manually update the SM Bus driver using the update driver option, now point to the directory where you stored the Intel Mobile 945 chipset. You may have to fish around in the directories a bit to find it but it seems ... Read more

I have been trying to fix a crash problem with Minecraft and got a few random BSOD when uninstalling\reinstalling Java and Drivers. My wife says that the computer was already unexpectedly shutting down before this.

I am including the Minecraft Crash logs along with the SF grabs. Its the easiest to reproduce. will include link to Minecraft and/or FTB forums once I create one. Gonna keep looking through other posts to find something else I may have missed.

Answer:BSOD Randomly and when trying to solve Minecraft Java Crash

Memtest86 will test your RAM

   Information

Run Memtest86 for at least 8 passes so we get enough information to confirm that your RAM isn't failing

Run a Disk Check to scan for errors

   Note

Afterwards go into an Elevated Command Prompt (Run as administrator) and type in sfc /scannow
If it finds errors reboot and run the scan two more times

Run SeaTools to see if your HDD or SSD is failing

Post back the results.

Hi I've been getting BSOD's for a few days now. It started off only happening when I was playing youtube videos on firefox, with messages related to various memory problems and directx or AMD driver problems. Then it seemed to start happening more and more often while I was gaming as well. I can be playing Fallout 4, GTA V etc fine for 10 or 20 minutes. Good FPS (for my setup) no freezing or artifacts, then A BSOD. Same with youtube videos. It plays fine for 10 or 20 minutes, no problems, then BSOD or at the least CTD.

Never had this problem with this computer before in the 5 plus years I've had it. The only things I've added hardware wise in the last month or so is that I changed 2 x1gb sticks of ram for 2 x2gb sticks of ram. I was starting to have the problem with Youtube videos before I swapped these sticks tho. I've run memtest86+ for almost 3 hrs and passed the full test with no errors. I also ran windows memory diagnostic with no errors. I've also let prime95 run for half an hour then the Intel burn test run it's 10 passes at standard stress rate...no problem

I also have a new logitech g100s mouse and I installed the software for it. I got this mouse almost a month ago though and the problems just started in the last 3 or 4 days. I tried uninstalling the driver and software for it tho and am just using the microsoft driver now. It actually BSOD'd in the middle of the software uninstall today tho? After I did that, then did a clean reinstall of my AMD card drive... Read more

Question: Solve Backup Error

Using Backup & Restore, this is the third night I got backup errors (red X), but the first time I saw the message.

"Backup failed on shadow copy on source volume got deleted. Might be caused by high write activity on the volume.
retry backup.. Consider increasing shadow copy storage using VSSADMIN resize shadow storage command.
Error code 0x80780169."

Retrying will be futile. Somebody suggested increasing the volume to 15%. There is very little information online.
Any suggestions? Should I increase the volume? I have never gotten this message in the years that I have been using Backup & Restore.

I am just supposed to be backing up my files; not creating an image, unless it copies to the disk regardless of what I choose to send to external drive.

In Event Viewer there were at least a half-dozen messages that the oldest volume was deleted. According to "Manage your space," I think I have one image on the drive and another image in backup, but I don't know if I can trust the info.

Thank you.

A watchdog is a piece of code in Windows that measures the execution time of commands. If a critical command takes too long to execute, Windows will generate this code. It is generally caused by hardware-related issues with critical components such as an SSD or core drivers.

There doesn't sem to be any rhyme or reason to the BSOD. I could be simply surfing the web using Chrome and it will just shut down on me. After it reboots it boots to the BIOS settings instead of Windows 10. If I unplug the power and remove the battery for a second the next time I boot up it will boot to Windows as normal.

Hello there!

On my freshly installed Windows 7 notebook I am still having random Starcraft 2 crashes (maybe once a week or two). As part of the attempt to figure out what is causing this I have run the Windows built-in Driver Verifier (Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable)

I am not even able to boot into Windows itself, after consecutive BSODs and accompanying reboots. After disabling Driver Verifier in safe mode I am able to attach the results extracted from the SF Diagnostic Tool.

Some other information that may be applicable to my situation.
- Windows Memory Diagnostic passes no problems.
- Windows is not tweaked in any way - msconfig, ccleaner, services, etc.
- CPU, GPU temps are normal/acceptable - under SC2 GPU is 71C, CPU 86C.
- However, the Intel HM65 chip is 90C under load, and 75C while surfing/watching video. There is no heatsink on this chip.
- Short tests by Seagate SeaTools all pass (have not run the long tests).
- Running Error Scan in HD Tune also didn't show any errors.
- According to SMART I do have End-to-End Errors (value is 86), from what I've read this may or may not mean anything. Could these errors register due to the HD not having optimal physical connection? I noticed overnight the computer was acting sluggish with low IO performance, which turned out to be a physical connection issue - just had the slide the HD back in a bit.

TIA for any help!

Guys,

I'm a newbie here- excuse me if I don't know all the protocols around here, I'll try to pick them up quickly.

Anyway- here are the details on my PC:

Compaq Presario 5WV280
900 mhz AMD athlon
Windows ME

256 MB RAM
30 GB HD
56k modem

Machine is pretty much as setup from Compaq, except we added 128MB RAM a couple of weeks ago for a total of 256 MB- no problems after that install. We also recently replaced the modem, the original modem died and it was replaced with a Diamond multimedia Supramax 56i PCI that my brother gave me. No problems with that after we got it installed + running.
The problem came up about a week after the modem replacement + RAM install.

I am using Netzero Dialup as my ISP.

The problem I am having is this. My PC is in (what I think is) Safe mode- low resolution display, giving me Error 24 "Display driver error". It tells me that I need to reinstall the display driver, or install an upgraded driver, because the current driver is either damaged or not correctly installed. It then prompts me to the "Installation wizard" to find a better driver- but when I go thru that procedure, it says I already have the best driver installed.

When I try to remove the display driver (thinking it might work to remove + then reinstall), it begins to go thru the process, then the system freezes- every time. I tried the HP/Compaq online tech chat, but they were not very helpful- everything they suggest... Read more

What video card is in the machine? What have you tried? A typical test would be to remove the modem and ram again to see if that works. Optionally, theres a slim chance the video card went bad. If its onboard and using shared memory, I would suspect the ram. If its not onboard, maybe try another card. Problems like this require trial and error of removing hardware until you can narrow down the culprit.

Answer:How to solve the error 0x800f081f Dism?

Resolution

For Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012

To resolve this problem, use the inbox Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. Then, install the Windows update or service pack again.
Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search. Type Command Prompt in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.Type the following command, and then press Enter.
It may take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Important When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions. However, if your Windows Update client is already broken, use a running Windows installation as the repair source, or use a Windows side-by-side folder from a network share or from a removable media, such as the Windows DVD, as the source of the files. To do this, run the following command instead: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess
Note Replace the C:\RepairSource\Windows placeholder with the location of your repair source. For more information about using the DISM tool to repair Windows... Read more
