Crackling sound in speakers when video playing/playing games/anything with graphics

Question: Crackling sound in speakers when video playing/playing games/anything with graphics

So I recently opened my CPU because it was lagging and I thought maybe a little clean up might do the trick. So I softly brushed the drivers inside the CPU to get some dust off. However, when I turned on my PC, it seems that whenever I watch videos or play games, a loud crackling sound comes out from my speakers. I don't know what is causing this.

I have tried disabling my drivers (sound and display) but to no avail. However, if I mute the volume on my sound driver, the sound disappears. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be a conflict of sound and display.

Since the problem only occured when I opened my CPU and cleaned it, it might also be a wiring problem or something.

Can someone help me on this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Crackling sound in speakers when video playing/playing games/anything with graphics

Have you tried a different set of speakers? Make sure the speakers are all the way plugged into the jack.

Hi,

Earlier this year, I came to this forum to get help for a BSOD problem. I found out that it was caused by my onboard soundcard which I have now replaced with a seperate soundcard from Icidu (PCI 7.1 Soundcard Optical S/PDIF In & Out - Soundcard - Audio).

I have tried several soundcards but I cannot fix this crackling sound issue. It mostly occurs whenever something is loading it seems, in soundcloud tracks for instance. Also, the windows startup sound sounds like yanking a cat in its tail. The driver IS up to date, there is no cpu throttling and the sound card itself is fine - there are no problems in linux.

Just for the record, here are my specs:

Check any cables connected to speakers/headphones, both ends. While playing some music gently twist the ends & move them slightly in & out. See it there is any difference.

It's been like this intermittently for the last few weeks, I'd put it into a shop to have modem and sound drivers sorted after a re-install. I know I should take it back but they had it for 3 day's. I'd be having withdrawl symptoms. Does the driver want updating perhaps?, it's listed as a 'SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio' by Analog Devices Inc in device manager. My OS is 98SE. Thanks TR

Answer:Crackling on sound when playing music or games

If it wasn't Crackling a few weeks ago then somthing has changed in your system. Perhaps you have installed a program, or piece of hardware that is conflicting with the sound card. Or, your speakers are finally begining to die on you, or your sound card is dying on you. Could be anything. Work through this checklist for trial and error.1. Check all connections at the back. Make sure there are no loose connections.2. Try a different set of speakers on there to see how they work. If you can, hook up ya hi-fi speakers to it. Through the stereo unit of course.

I've recently purchased a brand new PC for gaming, i'll list the specs below.
i7-2700k Intel CPU (3.5GHz) + Fan
8GB DDR3 RAM (16gb Max)
500gb Sata III Hard Drive, 7200RPM
DVDRW +/- DL
Asus Motherboard (ASUS P8H61-MLE USB3)
NVidia GTX550Ti Performance Video Card, 1.0g GDDR5 RAM, VGA/DVi/HDMi
Wireless 802.11 b/g/n
500W PSU
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium

I've downloaded steam and bought a few games e.g. Arma 2, Skyrim, Blacklight Retrobution and my system crashes when I play these games after about 5-10 minutes. The screen goes black to a "NO SIGNAL" image and my speakers make a loud humming noise much like the sound is on repeat. The only solution is to perform a hard shutdown by holding the power button.

I've checked the VGA cable is connected correctly and i've updated my graphics cards drivers. I've also let Windows perform all the updates as it's a new computer.

It's beyond me now so that's why i've come to you guys.

I'd appreciate any help on the matter.

[EDIT]

Went to town and bought a DVI cable to see if that would change anything, it lasts a little longer then crashes again.

I installed an internal monitoring system and saw that the graphics card temp went to 76C when playing Arma 2 then crashed.

So basically I've had this problem for a while now but it has always been fairly uncommon. Recently though it has become much more common and there are a few games in particular which will always have this issue occur. I've searched around an seen some posts saying that it may be GPU overheating so I monitored the temperature on it and found that in the various freezes it never rose above 60degrees. I also ran memtest a while back which came up with no problems so I'm really not sure what the problem is. Is it possible that my PSU does not provide enough power maybe? Any help appreciated.

I also tried a game on SNES emulator and it played fine although I could not hear any sound as it displayed the following error "Failed to initialize XAudio2".

Suspecting driver issue i tried updating driver for my display adapter ATI Mobility RADEON HD 4650 through device manager but it reported that I already had the latest.

I've posted this issue before on numerous support fourms, and none of them or I could figure out this issue. It's been driving me nuts.

A couple months ago I cleaned my computer (plugged everything out, cleaned the area/computer, etc.) when I put everything back together and booted up, I had no sound, but the tray icon indicated sound was indeed going through. As far as I knew nothing had been changed. I made sure everything was plugged in correctly, reinstalled the drivers, made sure I didn't click something off I shouldn't have, but still nothing. But then I plugged in headphones into the tower headphone jack, and boom I had sound. I was as surprised as everyone else. Someone suggested then, to rule out a hardware issue, that I download Ubuntu and see if the sound problem occurs there. It didn't, I had sound coming out of my speakers.

I would hate to re-install Win, as I've gone without doing so for five years. But if it came down to it, it's whatever.

I use the on-board sound from my MB, as I've learned over the years sound cards are a thing of the past. But perhaps I could reattach the old one I have? It's sadly over 10 years old however, I don't know if it would be worth trying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Major cudos if we're able to figure this out once and for all. Good luck

My system:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
AMD Phenom II X4 965
Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 (on-board sound)
Ripjaws 8 GB
Nvida Geforce GTX 780

Hi,
I have been playing Diablo 2 this week which has worked fine until today when I have started receiving an odd stalling sound error. The PC makes a strange noise and the video freezes for a mili-second. I cannot describe it too well so have uploaded a video that I took on my Iphone4s to show you exactly what I mean.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKm0jLHZTk0&feature=youtu.be
I think it may be a sound card problem as have tested on three different graphics card and the problem does not resolve itself. It is worth noting that I had this problem about 3 months ago but it cleared itself up without me actually doing anything.
My PC Spec: MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 Intel Core i3 CPU 530 @ 2.93 GHz 8.0GB RAM ATI Radeon HD6700 Series 8 USB Ports.
I just updated all my out of date drivers too fyi!
Otherwise my game and PC seems to work fine.
Any help will be much appreciated! :)
Kind regards,

Hello, I've been having problems for quite some time now and upon google search after search there doesn't seem to be an answer. When the audio is on, for videos, games, music, etc. it sometimes "skips" like an old cd player. Its pretty obnoxious, and I'm wondering why exactly this is so. I'm assuming I have an old driver or something, because I upgraded my pc from win 7 to win 8 pro. Thanks for the help and let me know if anyone needs clarification!

Answer:Jittery sound when playing music/video games (Win 8 Pro)

Audio is always on a shared Interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. Depending on the shared device, it can "interrupt" the audio and cause skipping.

If you have the HP supplied IDT audio driver for Win 7, it is also compatible for Win 8. However, check the Device Manager and see what devices are listed in the Sound section. You should ONLY have the correct IDT sound driver and possibly HDMI audio (if your system has this) and nothing else. If "HD Audio Codec" (the generic Windows installed sound driver) is also listed, or any other sound, except the IDT and possibly HDMI, uninstall those as they can cause conflicts and other audio problems. Restart the PC if you uninstalled anything.

If you only have the correct entries in the sound, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDG and then LEFT click "Uninstall" (do not uninstall the drivers). Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This will fix any potential corruptions between Windows and the sound and sometimes will put the sound on a different shared IRQ and fix or mimimize any interruptions.

I apologize in advance if my post is missing any information; I attempted to follow the directions for properly posting but while I'm am computer functional, I'm not overly computer literate.

I'm running:
Windows 7 Professional computer 64 bit
4.0GB of RAM
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor 3.20 GHz

The system constantly crashes when playing video games and games consistently lag. We have completely re-installed the OS and replaced all parts in the PC at least twice. When the system crashes the speakers buzz loudly, although sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the computer itself.

We switched from Nvidia because everything has checked out and it was hoped that the problem was the hardware not playing nice to no avail. I'm still getting the same error/crash.

Answer:Routine crashing with buzzing sound when playing video games.

All except last one showed up a WHEA error stating that there was a timeout failure of the northbridge bus between CPU and RAM. Commonly this is due to a mobo, RAM or CPU failure. Just to make sure, if you believe your system is stable enough, you can attempt updating your BIOS for your mobo as that can commonly fix things. In most cases however, this is a problem that will only be resolved by swapping hardware.

If you wish, you can run some hardware tests as followed in the order given:

RAM: Memtest86+ - 7+ passes
CPU: Prime95 - Torture Test; Blend; overnight (9+ hours)
GPU: MemtestCL - Run twice (if any of the tests work on your GPU; ATI cards will need to install the ATI APP SDK as it requires OpenCL)

All of these (excluding MemtestCL) are included in the UBCD if you prefer a Live CD environment (which is the best environment to test hardware on). Note that Prime95 currently does not work on the latest version of UBCD. Also, please provide us temps/voltages using HWInfo with Sensors only option checked. Log two 30-minute instances: one for idle, and one for high load. If you can get the system to crash during high load logging, that's even better.

Hi...

I'm having a real issue with my WMP and VLC...
While watching movies, I am getting popping and crackling noises and at the same time, the video will stutter. This just started happening around 2 weeks ago. Today, when I tried to play a Hidden Object game, it was doing the same thing. I have tried updating the drivers for audio, DirX and RealTek. I have removed and reinstalled both Realtek HD Audio Manager and VLC. I've also tried adjusting the settings on both the WMP and VLC. Today I ended up doing a System Restore because I feared that maybe I had changed something I shouldn't have and whatever I was doing seemed to make my problem worse.

I'm at my wits end and extremely frustrated. I'm hoping someone here in Bleeping Computer Land can help me with this.

Thank you.

Latest driver download listed above - the general procedure for updating sound drivers is to uninstall the old driver firstly, reboot, then install the new driver - driver version listed : 1.04.0090

If that doesnt work or you already have that driver you could enable your onboard audio and download the driver for it here :
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P7H55-M LX

Or search using the manual search for a vista 32 bit driver and try this if it doesnt install normally, and produces an error (we were doing this all the time with beta versions of w7 with a high sucess) :

To install a driver/program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Check that either in the bios or in a program that start with Windows, that no cpu throttling is happening.

(Commonly called Speedstep, Cool n Quiet or things like that in the bios.)

hi guys,

when ever i play a movie from my hard disk i get a cracking sound when there are loud noises in the movies. when it is a quiet scene it doesnt do it. it usually happens when i watch movies that contain an ac3 sound.

do you think it could be a driver issue?

please guys if u can help me.

cheers.

Answer:crackling sound when playing movies

Well, drivers are a good place to start! It would be simple enough to eliminate drivers as the cause. First thing I would try is reinstalling them. Here's how:

1. Right-click 'My Computer'
2. Select 'Manage'
3. On the 'Computer Management' window, click 'Device Manager'
4. Expand 'Sound, video and game controllers'
5. For every item you can, right-click and select 'Uninstall'
6. Restart your computer.

When Windows loads back up, it will reinstall the drivers from a copy it keeps in cache. Hopefully, this resolves the problem, but if not, I would then try UPDATING the drivers with the latest from the manufacturer of your sound card. I would include a link, but you haven't specified the make and model.

Hello there,

I just got myself registered and I have some problems with my sound which now exist for ~ 6 months.

1. Problem:
You could describe the problem as a sound clicking or crackling. Those appear in various situations, for example when playing a MP3, videos from YT, gamesounds and so on. Mostly they occur when the sound starts or ends (for example a cut in a film), even the simple windows-sound when adjusting the volume has this problem, when i rappidly klick on the volume-slider.

Things i tried, nothing of them helped:

Reinstalled Windows 7 two times, bought a new headset (QH-95), bought two different soundcards (Asus Xonar D1 and Asus Xonar U7), bought a new mainboard (ASRock Z77 Pro3, same as my old one), updated all drivers (reinstalled windows), checked the sound with the Latency Check-programm (everything is green), tried playing the sounds without soundcard (Asus Xonar D1) , changed sound frequienzies, played audio without WiFi on, played audio without any devices (apart from headset and mouse) and defragmentaded my harddrive.

There is still no solution until this day. I slowly start to belive i'm the only one who can hear those sounds, it's just crazy and and the same time also depressing.

Examples of videos where the crackling appears for me:

Answer:Sound crackling, clicking etc. when playing sounds

Hello and welcome Florian mate sorry for the wait but it is a strange problem.

Now what immediately pops up for me is you equipment on an electrical circuit that is quite close to anything that uses microwave devices - phones, ovens, wireless communications or even wired communication stuff ? ham radio??

Now another thing that I think of is the sound card sitting snuggly in that slot and are the connecting cables also a snug fit?

Now I suggest you clean the slots and sticks cards etc first. I also have to assue all drivers are up to date?

SLOT CLEANING

Now as for the slots toclean them use a strip of old credit card (or any card thin enough some arebetter than others ) about 1/2 inch wide nip the corners off one end - preferably round them offhold a piece of thin lint free cloth over theend dab on some form of alcohol - isopropyl alcohol (what we swab the skin withbefore an injection) is good and GENTLYswipe along the slots.

This can also be done for the GPU slot/s andalso the contacts of the sticks or cards - not the stick but some lint freecloth of course. See my pic for the stick but please be very gentle doing it ifyou are in any doubt - please ask before doing it but I use this all the timeand have yet to damage anything.

Lastly but not necessarily the end can you read my ditty and post back your findings

I've seen this crackling sound problem around the internet. After my research for hours, here is what I got: 1. I used 'DPC Latency Checker V1.4.0'. It was found that some devices, i.e. modem, usb, wifi, are interupting the sound card making crackling noise which is really loud and noisy. 2. Changing the bit rate between 16 bit and 24 bit doesn't help. 3. Update speaker driver to 'Realtex 6.3.9600.116' and 'Intel Smart Sound Technology 8.4.1.71' won't help. 4. Turn off the Audio Enhancement in DTS studio sound doesn't help. 5. Disable WIFI driver for a while won't help. *6. I've found that the problem can be solved by disable 'Disk Data Cache' in SSD option in Intel Rapid Storage Technology.Page 4 from this link: LinkBut I can't find this disable option in version 13.6.0.1002So how can I turn this 'SSD Cache' off?Or do you have any other solution?

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

Hey.

I have Logitech X-530 speakers, a 5.1 setup. Yesterday I wanted to use my headset to play a game, so I had to change my settings to stereo to get the sound out of both the left and right headphones. When I had finished, I changed it back to 5.1 through the control panel, but now the sound is only playing out of the left and right speakers. All speakers are functional, since when I test it through the control panel the 'bing' sound plays through all one-by-one. The speakers worked fully in 5.1 before I changed the settings.

Windows Vista 32bit SP2.

Thanks.

Hey everyone. I have a quick question maybe someone could please help me with. Here goes...

I have Altec Lansing speakers (2 speakers and a sub) on my Windows XP. I was watching a movie and my sound just quite on me. No popping noise, nothing. Just silence. I didn't have the volume really high, nor the bass.
The speakers still have power and turn on. I tried plugging them into my Ipod, nothing. Tried just the left speaker in my Ipod and it actually worked!
(Setup= left speaker to the right speaker, right speaker to the sub woofer, sub to the computer and wall.)
I don't think it's software because head phones work with my computer.
So, does anyone have any ideas why the speakers don't work?

Thanks!!
-Lcircus

P.S. Speaker serial number: CHW0529366

Answer:My speakers quite playing sound for me... help plz!

setup you write is common for altec lansing speaker, but can you tell us what series is yours? I mean if you cant try to find the pic on the internet.

I know what you mean by putting in the left speaker to the ipod. It was just like a piece of ACS45.1

Do you know how long have been your speaker works? If it;s old, maybe some component need to be replaced i.e wires and some capacitor.

It doesn't happen often but sometimes it freezes for a second while loading a certain game which works fine on another day and gives BSOD. Sometimes it happens after I've loaded the game and am in the moment of playing. My hardware is more than enough for the games I run and I even run them on low-mid even though I can manage high settings. The games I usually run are CS:GO, League of Legends and Modern Warfare 3 [rarely play; received 1 BSOD while loading it]

I've uploaded my dump files.

Answer:Playing sound from both speakers and headphones

What is the make and model of the computer? What operating system and sound card are you using? This information will help us narrow down the problem.

I would start by checking your Windows audio settings for anything you can mute or un-mute that would be related to the issue. I would check the sound card manufacturer's program as well if there is one, they usually have a lot of additional settings like "detect headphones when plugged in" that can cause this.

Hi, I know this question has been previously asked, but the solutions posted don't work for me. Sound is coming out of my speakers and earphones at the same time, and I only want it to come out of the earphones. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. My computer tells me that all my software is up to date. Under Playback Devices the only thing listed is Speakers/Headphones, and that is working. Thank you for your time.

CPU:Intel Q9450 (according to CPU-Z that is, I thought it was Q9400)
Ram:4GB Corsair 800mz DDR2
Video Card:NVidea Geforce 9800GT
Not like any of that matters...

I have a set of Creative P580 5.1 speakers that work wonderfully. However I also want to play my music/games/other applications with my headphones in at times and my problem is that certain audio tracks are not working. For example I will be playing RedAlert3 or DevilMayCry4 and the backing music will play and so will explosions but the voices of the characters/tutorial will not.
I have tried plugging it into the headphone jack in the creative speakers, and unplugging the speakers and trying it in the front and back ports but it makes no difference.

Hi;
I dual booted win7 along with win xp . My sound card , Zonar Dg works fine in xp . i loaded the drivers for win7 . The sound bar in the speaker in task bar shows audio is playing and also shows playing in Zonar program . No sound is coming from speakers .

Note : Sound did come from speakers one time . I think it was a video but no sound from any mp3 files on my pc . Sound since has never worked . Only that one time . Very odd I think .

I have tried all the usual things since I am used to re installing xp many times . not muted . DG card selected as default . Speakers set to proper mode in zonar app .

I tried using the realtek audio on my motherboard , which does work in XP . Not working in 7 .

I am stumpped on this one . Maybe I could use the xp compatibility ? Never used this so really do not know much about it .

thank you for any help .

Answer:No sound from speakers but audio playing

If you have the RealTek enabled, disable it in the BIOS. It can cause conflicts and potentially the problem you have. Windows 7 will only allow one default audio playback device, unlike XP that would allow more.

So pretty much what is happening is my speakers will start to buzz when sound isnt playing. I have an Audigy 2 soundblaster but when I go to update my drivers on my sound stuff its Sigmatel High Definition Audio CODEC.

When I play music or anything that produces a sound on my computer, my speakers work great! But when there is a pause in sound playing, I get this buzzing sound that is at the same level of volume as the sound or music playing before it paused. Now this problem goes off and on but im tired of having to deal with it.

I updated my drivers on it and for a while it worked fine, then all of the sudden it came back again.

What would be great is if anybody would know how to fix this damn problem! Thanks in advance to helping me out!

Hi everyone,
I am sure this has been done a 1000 times and I am sorry to ask again.
I have a win 8 laptop with IDT codec as the default sound playback.
I have noticed that sound is playing through the headphones (when plugged into the jack) and the integral speakers on the laptop.
When you go into the sound menu it says speakers and headphones but doesn't give any options to change it.
I have tried deleting the diver and reinstalling (didn't work) restoring the laptop to a previous state (didn't work) and now it is really annoying.
Any other tips?
Many thanks

p.s. the drivers my mobo uses are VIA HD Audio deck. i've tried uninstall all sound drivers and reinstalling but to no aveil
p.s. also at one point in time few days ago everything was working but the next day the rears just stopped...

Answer:5.1 Speakers rear and mid sound not playing any sound apart from test

did all the speakers sound when test in via hd audio deck or windows 7 audio control panel?

if yes, most likely you will need to enable the 'upmix' feature of VIA. I'm not sure what is it called, but in Realtek it is called Realtek Speaker Fill or Dolby ProLogic IIx. If there isn't any, you may want to try Channel Mixer for foobar2000.

I just installed AIMP3 player
Put in a CD in the tray and Windows Media Player opened as default player
It played fine.
Closed WMP

Went to Windows Explorer and to the drive location (E), and rt clicked on the 1st track and it gave me Open With options, I chose AIMP3.
Track played

Went to
Start / Default Programs / Change AutoPlay settings and changed Audio CD to Open with AIMP3 using AIMP
re-inserted CD
It started playing using AIMP3, I can see the visualization moving and it moves thru the tracks, but no sound to speakers.

There must be a switch I didn't flip somewhere...
Any ideas on where?

Thanks

Answer:Installed AIMP3 - No sound to speakers when playing CD

I have to guess, as there isn't enough system info and I don't have AIMP3.

But, as it plays OK with Windows Media Player, it says something in AIMP3 is not configured correctly. Check the options in AIMP3, make sure your "Speakers" are set as the default playback device.

After unplugging it and trying again a couple times, I gave up and decided to just use my old headphones.

So I built this computer a few weeks ago with Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything sound-wise has been working til a few days ago, but I have been working through some video problems.
Since this started on Friday, the sound mixer/volume control shows sound playing. But nothing comes out the speakers. When I click the top, it doesn't say 'speakers', it says 'Realtek audio'. When I click that, the sound window comes up and under "jacks" it says "rear optical jack." The top says S/PDIF. Those are both formats that I have never used on this system. I've always used only the rear panel analog jack.

Anyways, I feel like I've tried everything under the sun and I'm close to RMA'ing the motherboard. It's that bad. Anyhelp is uber appreciated. Thanks guys

Answer:No audio in speakers -at all-, Windows is playing sound

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback section, your "Speakers" should be set as the default playback device. It sounds like the digital is now set as playback.

In the Windows audio playback tab there's only "speakers" but sound is playing from both speakers and the headphones, with headphones plugged into the right jack. I checked the Realtek Control Panel and there was F**K ALL for options there (see attached). There is an Intel(R) Display Audio in Device Manager alongside Realtek High Definition Audio. So now I can't watch warm-up videos at school without blasting the sounds through my speakers as well.

I tried a System Restore to before the problem started but it didn't do anything. The problem started around the time I ran an Advanced Systemcare 8 scan, which does the following tasks:
Spyware Removal
Registry Fix
Privacy Sweep
Junk Files Clean
Internet Boost
Shortcuts Fix
Registry Defrag
System Optimization
Security Defense
Disk Scan
Vulnerability Fix (Windows Updates)
Disk Optimization
Also when I move my laptop it shuts off for some reason, so it could've interupted the scan or updates or something.
System Specs included inside attached DxDiag.

Hello @misspatrice, Thank you for re-visiting the HP Forums! I understand that there is audio playing from both your speakers and headphones on your HP 15-ac135ds. Begin by performing a hard reset. Once the notebook is back on, follow the No Sound from Speakers document which shows you how to use the audio troubleshooter. HP Notebook PCs - No Sound from Speakers (I know the document says Windows 8 but the steps should be the same for Windows 10) There is also an accepted resolution to an issue similar to this posted by @SuperMario1 at this link: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Headphones-plugged-in-but-speakers-are-still-playing-sou... After completing these steps I'm sure the audio will be working correctly! If this information has helped you resolve the issue, click the thumbs up!

My computer was blue screening. I had a warranty RMA through my manufacturer and I just got it back, fixed. However since then, my Logitech X-530 5.1 surround speakers have been messed up. Initially I thought the front two were not working, but when I was testing I found the Left Rear works and the Right Rear sound comes through the Front Left speaker. The Subwoofer is fine, but the Right Front and Rear have no sound. To be more clear, when my realtek audio manager tests the front two speakers, there is zero sound. When it checks the LR it comes through the LR fine, but the RR comes through the LF speaker. I've unplugged, checked wires, made sure everything was plugged in correctly, and I reinstalled my realtek HD audio driver also. Can anybody offer some help? Thanks.

I bought a new graphics cards a few months ago and when i'm playing high-ish spec games such as Tomb Raider.. Battlefield 2 etc after a short amount of time the graphics start to spaz out and go all glitchy. It doesn't do it with low spec games, such as Fifa 06 and other games that generally aren't as graphically demanding. The games run smooth and fine, no lag.. just this annoying graphic problem.

Somebody suggested maybe the cards over-heating or something. Well, i gave the graphics card a clean and the fan and tried the game the moment my computer started up so it was cool. It still happened, after around the same amount of time, the graphics spazzed out again. So.. i was going to get a new fan but i don't think it would do anything.

It's weird, sometimes it kicks in more on a certain camera angle in the game. If i change the angle it may get worse, better or go completely for a while just by moving the camera angle around. But usually once it starts it gradually gets worse and worse.

Once i restart the game it's fine again untill after a short period it will do it again, and again..

I'm not sure what to do. It can't be that its over-heating.

Hello, I haven't played games on my computer in a few months. Now that I'm attempting to get back into it, i'm having an issue where colors are going nutty on me. Basically theres like a green and red replica of every image in the game, it looks kind of like old school 3D imaging. I tried taking screenshots, but they all came out just black for some reason. Also noteworthy, whenever I load up any game I get a message on my screen, I forget what it says but to get it off of the screen I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Insert.

My kids use my computer more than I do now days so I'm not sure if they did something to change the settings or if it's the graphics card going on me. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

recently i purchased a ht omega claro+ to go along with my logetch z5500 speaker set up. all was working fairly well off of on board sound, as far as usually going through all of the 6 speakers(sub included). however after installing the new sound card, it would at best play out of the 2 front speakers(not mid, sub or other surrounds).

i have been in contact just recently with ht omega's support but figured i would widen my search for help, in case i decide/need to seek a refund or something from newegg.

i am running windows 7 ult 64 bit, and have been trying to use a optical cable to connect the main speaker control to the new card. i also disabled the on board sound in device manager and made sure that all other devices were disabled and/or the claro parts were selected as the defaults.
yet, regardless of through windows or the provided program, only two speakers sounded. i tried both 5.1 and 7.1 with no changes, and a system restore gave an error so i guess that might be out of the question.

i hope i am missing something small, but if not hopefully i can turn this into a video card instead.

I've been using the onboard audio/sound from my motherboard on my XP desktop for the past 4 years. I bought a 5.1 surround sound set of speakers from Logitech (x-530) about 3 years ago, but only used the FL, FR, and subwoofer, because my mobo doesn't support surround sound -- it doesn't have the rear / center+subwoofer jacks that my speakers need to plug into.

Today I bought a Dynex 5.1 sound card from Best Buy ($30) -- opened my tower, popped the sound card into an available port, installed the drivers from the CD, restarted the computer, set the output to 5.1 in the Sounds and Audio Devices window from the control panel, in the "Audio Deck" (the software that came with the card) I set it to 6 channel, made sure all of the speakers were plugged into the subwoofer which connects to the front-right speaker, and plugged the green, black, and orange plugs from the FR speaker into the proper jacks on the sound card, turned some test music on....

And it's just coming out of the same two front speakers and the subwoofer like it was when I was running just the mobo audio. I've tried a few DVDs with PowerDVD but likewise, the sound is not coming out of the rear or center speakers. Then again I'm using the free version, I think. At least, under the audio tab in configurations it doesn't have any settings that specify surround, just 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 speakers. I tried each setting, but there's never any sound coming from the... Read more

Answer:5.1 surround troubles -- rear speakers not playing sound

Dynex is not a company known for quality in their products, so it may be simply that the sound card is of poor build quality. However, I think it is more likely that you simply do not have any surround capable games or programs. Since these programs do not support surround sound, nothing will come out of the rear speakers. I have experienced this problem with my Logitech X-540s when I use a program with no surround support.

I realized that my graphics card (Geforce 6800GT)idles at 59C, but slowly builds up to 70C when I play a game. At this point, my mouse light starts to flicker, and freeze constantly etc etc. There are also chances of getting a nv4_mini.sys BSoD. My question is, is it normal for the 6800GT to go up 10C just by playing a game? It isnt even that graphic intensive (CS 1.6, Warcraft 3). Currently, I have one side of the PC case opened for more air flow. It lowered temperatures a bit (i use to have temperatures up to 80C) but it still doesn't seem to be enough. Are there any options besides buying fans?

Answer:Graphics Card Overheating while playing games

It is normal for temperatures to rise during a game but your temperatures are a bit high. You could remove the heatsink and fan, clean the old thermal compound off and reapply some Arctic Silver and reinstall the heatsink/fan to the graphics card. As long as your fan is capable of getting up to full song, your temps should go down. Anyway, it's cheap to try.

Hey,Well I've got a tread going on on this topic on over here. But since I"m not sure this is a motherboard issue anymore I made a new thread for this problem alone. Here's all the info so far:Quote from: LNBZero on October 05, 2008, 02:51:20 PMWell, today I've been trying some games and a few keep crashing. With 2 3D games (Ragnarok Online 2 and Dream of Mirror Online) I see some textures mess up and then a second later all the pixels on the screen get randomized sorta. It's kinda like sort off diagonal lines that go through the screen and all the pixels on those lines are randomly placed all over the screen.Calum was thinking this was an error with my graphics card overheating but after running some tests it pretty much stayed around 50~55?C all the time which is alright. So in the end it might be a faulty motherboard so unless someone else has a suggestion or something else I should test/try out I'll call the store I got it from tomorrow and see what they think and if I can replace it.Yeah, so it's possible it's the video card after all. Any info about this? I could "try" to make a photo of the screen at the point it crashes and post that if needed. Many thanks in advance again,LNBZero

HelloI have a hp Pavilion dv6-3131tx with switchable graphics (Intel HD Graphics card and AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series card) and after upgrading to Windows 10 all my games were running slow. I figured it was due to HDD space so I did a disk cleanup (including system files as I decided I wasn't going back to Windows 7). After doing this I decided to fiddle around with my graphics options (on both cards) to maximise performance. However, now most of my games now open with sound in the background but its a completely black screen. It sounds like everything is working fine in the background (even the mouse pointer is working and is in the shape of the games mouse pointer) but its just a complete black screen. This seems to only happen with demanding games like a racing game or a sim like Truck Sim or train sim. Other games such as spintires and hotline miami work fine. I could find literally nothing similar to this problem anywhere online and I really hope there is a fix for this! I should also mention I tried to disable my Intel HD graphics card in device manager when I was trying to work out how I can make my ATI card my default card because I am pretty sure all my games were running on the Intel card as they all seemed very slow compared to when I played them on Windows 7. After I disabled it my screen was almost completely black, but I could just, only just, make out what I was doing and was successful in re-enabling the card. This almost completely black scre... Hi! I have been getting BSOD's when i play games.

I have tried a bunch of things some of them worked for a day and then i start getting BSOD's again. Its not creating .dmp files.

It only happens in more graphically demanding games such as League of Legends, Team Fortress 2 ( even though they are not that demanding). Thanks in advanced!

Edit: I got it to create a dump file, you can find it below.

Hi,

Recently upgraded my computer - Below specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Intel 4790k not OC
2133 Corsair Vengeance Pro 8gb x2
2x MSI GTX680 Twin Frozr (Original was in previous build - Bought second one used)
1000w EVGA Platinum P2 PSU

BSOD only appears when running anything graphics intensive (playing assetto corso/project cars)

More recently, I attempted to OC the cards to:
+100 Core Clock
+0 Memory

After running Kombustor for approximately 2mins, cards reached 79degrees Celsius and BSOD..

Any help is appreciated.

Okay, so I purchased a brand new computer (in parts) from NewEgg. I got:

Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 R Motherboard

Galaxy GTX550TI Video Card 2GB DDR5

Zephyr MX-750 (750 Watts)

AMD 6-core FX-6100 3.3Ghz Processor

A single 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM stick

A 1 TB Hard drive which I used as my main, and I owned a previous 1TB Hard Drive which I am using as my secondary.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. I've played Guild Wars, League of Legends, and Skyrim, and anywhere between 10-60 minutes, my pc will crash, freezing up completely and the sound will get stuck. I've gone 8+ hours with the PC on while in the Skyrim Construction set, using Microsoft Word, and browsing the net. At one point, I got the Blue Screen of Death (Only 1 incident) with the following code: 0x0000001E

I've updated everything, video card, motherboard, any windows component, updated. I ran my antivirus in case I brought anything from the old 2ndary HD, nada. There have also been a couple cases where we could smell something hot. Not burning, just hot.

It continued to freeze when I tried to play ANY game, so I sent the video card back. Had to be the video card, what else could it be? I got the new one today. It lasts longer, but it continues to freeze when playing any video games. I have part replacement/refund from NewEgg for another 20 days, I need to figure this out now. Help!!!

What freaks me out is that EVERYTHING is new. No idea what I can do in this particular situation.

Run this

Let them go for 1 hour and see what you get. It will render your PC pretty much useless so set it and step back and watch.

See if you still lock up.

So while I'm in the middle of enjoying my library of games, like TF2, WoW, and TES 5: Skyrim, my screen flickers and an error notification pops up, saying my graphics card recovered from an error, several times and then my computer bluescreens and does a physical memory dump cycle before restarting

There's also an array of artifacts (or "ghosts", as my circle of friends have started calling them) that keep flickering all around the screen, which has been going on for awhile, but i've just been ignoring it as a mild inconvenience up until now.

Do I need to get a new graphics card before this is fixed, or is something else the problem?

Hi,

I have recently run into a problem, where my PC goes into standby, with the sound getting all messed up while playing games that require even just a little bit of GPU, just before turning off and giving me a BSOD message.

I have also discovered that my GPU's (Gefore GTX 550 Ti) fan doesn't seem to rev up by itself, so I had to download MSI Afterburner to regulate fan speeds manually.

I've had this PC since Autumn, so it's a real shame that it's already having problems.

So I'm hoping someone can help me out. I picked up a new graphics card (specs found in the dxdiag report), worked great...for a bit. Whether I'm streaming video, DL content, working on homework with 10 different apps running+music, no issues.

However, when I play games (particularly WoW, I know...tacky, don't judge me!) periodically I will get game freeze>black screen then a notification sound from my comp, and then after 5-10 secs the game starts running. If I minimize the game, Win10 gives me a notification that says that the display driver stopped working. I have monitored the cards temp., and my computers CPU/RAM load and nothing seems to be out-of-whack.

I have tried updating my drivers, but windows says that they are up-to-date. Probably not the best way to check, but I'm hoping for some input on strategies to try so that I can fix this problem. Dxdiag info attached.

My friend is 89 years old and enjoys playing solitare on her computer, but her eyesight is getting worse and cannot make out some of the graphics. Is there a way to make some of the games larger to where she can still enjoy playing these games on her computer. We have increased the size in the display properties, but that also causes the game graphics to spill off the screen. Is there other similar games that can be purchased that will allow an increase in images. Thank ahead for any help...

Welcome!Computer Hope is the number one location for free computer help. The forum will help everyone with all computer questions. What you are seeking is a computer with the right set of hardware and software for people with low vision. Sometimes these people are called visually impaired. I am one of such.To date I have not found an effective, economical solution for my visual impairment. One thing that helps a little is the use of dual monitors. The second monitor can be a mangier for the first monitor. You can pan the view area on the second monitors. But it is still awkward. I have to use a monitor with at least 17 inches and special glasses and I have to withing 12 inches of the screen. If you find something the works well, please let me hear about it. It is nervy frustrating to not be able to see what others can see.One company that makes video cars with zoom on the second display is Matrox. But there stuff is either privy or hard to find. Answer:My graphics mess up/comp freeze while playing games

I'm curious about this:Quote8g of memory (got a stick from a friend that I put in there so its just a 32 bit)Why? XP doesn't need more than 1GB of RAM to run fine. Is it right type of RAM. 32-bit system can't use more than 4GB of RAM anyway. You're getting low on HD space, as well. Windows needs 15% of free space to operate correctly. In your case, it's 45GB, and you have 39GB free.

Around the new year, I installed new RAM. Ever since, I have been getting BSOD at various times. I ran memtest86 and it came back clean. Unfortunately I left the old RAM a few thousand miles away so I can't test it with that. I also started playing a couple of more graphics intensive games (Star Trek Online and BFBC2) around that same time. At first, the BSOD would only occur during gameplay. Lately, the games have been running better but I get random blue screens while web browsing about once a week. The ones during games usually said atimpag.sys or dxgmms.sys. The ones during browsing usually say ntfs.sys or fltmgr.sys. ntoskrnl.exe seems to occur with both. I've attached a file with the dmps and some screen shots of cpuz. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (`c0000005) (probably a driver).

Memtest ran for how many passes there?

We recommend to leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.
* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have Raid update its Driver.
2. Suggest you run Driver verifier.

Hello, I'm in need of some help. My laptop keeps showing BSOD with error BC Code 116. When I checked the cause of the blue screen was BC Code 117. Can someone please help me to solve this problem.

One day, my laptop had a windows corrupted error and was unable to boot. I sent it to a trusted person to help me restore my windows and other stuff. But eversince then, I couldn't play anymore games that required good graphics such as Team Fortress 2, Assassin's Creed and some other simple games as well. BUT before the windows corrupted thing happened, ALL of these games were able to be played normally without ANY lagging or crashing or BSOD. Now, when the game is in its "launching" mode (this part is where naturally the screen will turn black to load the game itself), the blue screen error will appear. I hope some one can please help me about this problem. If any system information is required, please let me know.

Hi mates,

My computer is about 8 months old, problem's been happening since day 1, but I ignored it since it haven't been occurring too often, though recently I started a bit of gaming and it happens every now and then while gaming.

Attached is my zip file from SF Diagnostic Tool. Computer details:

ASUS P8P67-M Pro Rev 3.0
Intel Core i7 2600k 3.4GHz (not OC'ed)
G.Skill 4GB*2 RipJaws DDR
OCZ Vertex 3 as primary HDD with Win7 Ultimate x64.

I upgraded to the latest BIOS from ASUS which was no help.

Should the games I play matter - mainly CS:GO, GTA:IV, Crysis 2, Battle Field 3.

Any assistance will be much appreciated, thanks!

My computer shuts down whenever I play a game that i max out the graphics on. I emailed the company I bought this computer from and it was determined to be a issue with my power supply (500W), so they sent me a new one (700W). I replaced the power supply but the issue still remains. The tech support is time consuming and stressful as they like to juggle you between branches, make you wait, and contradict each other, so I found this forum. I ran the program core temp and none of the temperatures (other than tj.max) exceed 50C. The temperatures displayed are as follow:

tj.max 105 C

core 0 MAX 47 C
core 1 MAX 43 C
core 2 MAX 42 C
core 3 MAX 45 C
In game the temperature go up 2-3 C, this computer was a recent buy and when i replaced the power supply, there were no issues with dust.

The temps you have listed are for the CPU, have you checked the temps for the Graphics card yet?

You can use a program called GPU-z or seeing as you have an EVGA card you should be able to use the Precision X software that comes with it.

Also have you updated your graphics card drivers from the Nvidia website.

Paul.

Check your temps (both CPU and GPU) while idle and while gaming.

Also, have you updated your drivers / CCC to the latest versions?

Answer:New graphics card/Computer crashes when playing games.

You're PSU may not be strong enough for you're new graphic card.

You might want to consider a 400 watt psu preferable actec or aspire.

Hey folks,
I've got this really annoying & frustrating issue and I'm left clueless.
It all started when I decided to give Napoleon Total War after quite a few months of not touching it.
As it started up, in the menu I noticed the mouse being extremely laggy and then screen flickering to black.
Whilst watching the opening cutscene intro the sound cut off whilst the movie continued to play and then the sound came back.
During gameplay the game would flicker to black and back to normal again.
I never had any of these issues before and as far as I know nothing has changed since to make it no longer work properly.
I updated drivers (I've got 560ti) and the flickering is still there and it even giving me CTD's. Originally any other game was fine it was just Napoleon Total War, so uninstalled it, deleted the mods I had on it, and redownloaded it. Still the same.
I verified cache. Still the same.
I Googled and found various solutions for similar issues (not sure if they are the same) and still getting no where.
Something has gone awry and I'm not sure how it suddenly started or even how to fix it.
Spent many days trying to solve it, with the issue getting worse to then getting back to where I started but still not fixed.
Now the issue seems to be effecting every game, with flickering to black screen often and stuttering whilst playing.
I've got a feeling that it may have had to do with the drivers, and perhaps I didn't uinstall them properly when trying to rollback and now any... Read more

I have an Nvidia GTS 250, with the most current drivers (342.01 Windows 10 x64bit)
It freezes up at random times while playing games (Mainly CSGO)
I have tried Using DDU to uninstall my drivers and reinstalling them manually off the Nvidia Website.
Ran CoreTemp with no spike in temp.. (Stays between 20-35 C)
Running a clean install of the drivers and not touching the settings one bit.

Hello guys. So here is my issue i dont really know how to specific it further then this still hope it will help.

I have been getting BSOD for a while now and it's getting to the point i cant do a single thing on the computer. I did the config for dumps and so on and ended up with this RAR file with all the info i assume. I mostly get the bluescreen when i try to watch anime etc on googlechrome. It never works it's a matter of seconds before the BSOD comes. But when watching it on other browsers like opera it works just fine "mostly" even there it bluescreens from time to time. And then there is when it's most fatal, Playing onlinegames. Whenever I play online games like World of warcraft, League of Legends, Heroes of Neweart etc etc etc i risk getting bluescreens. It differs very much from game to game how often the bluescreens appear and it seems to not be preformance related since sometimes i play constantly for hours when maxing out games and pushing the computer to it's limits when it comes to frames. And still the bluescreen lies in dorment waiting for a more suitable interrupt for me. From the looks of it the bluescreen is related mostly to my operatingsystem more then commponents after i looked at the dumpfiles via "Bluescreenviewer".

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this and i hope you guys can help me with this. also this is my first post so I maybe did this typical "bad thread", Still i hope this will get me atleast closer to... Read more

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more

Hi Guys,

I have issues with my desktop. I randomly get the bsod (kernel data inpage error). I thought it started after I installes the new ATI drivers. So I tried older drivers but without any result. After that I thought it was an issues with Win 7 64bit. So I installed 32bit. But still I get the bsdod.

can you please help?

Win 7 32 bit
oem original
hardware about two years old.
I have a new installed os.The old one started giving trouble after 2 years.

Answer:BSOD randomly after playing games or playing movies )

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

I have a problem that just started when I upgraded to my new motherboard. Whenever I am in CS:S my microphone in vent sounds like and i quote from my friend mat

Quote:

Drizzt, it sounds like you are strangling a cat in the background

This is not good, I don't want this. I am fairly certain it is not my Mic's fault as it does not sound like angry cats when I am not in CS:S. It is only when I start it up. This did not happen before on my 680i SE.

I tried going to the asus website and reinstalling the sound drivers for my sound card (which comes with the mobo). Still no fix. Fine until I start up cs:s.

Suggestions? Help?

Answer:Problem with Sound when playing games!

Maybe a reinstallation of CS:S or steam? or both? Have you fiddled with the mircrophone settings within CS:S? Tried a different microphone?

Hey there,
I'm new to the forum here, and I figured this would be a good place to find answers. I have a new custom PC that seems to be working fine overall, but everytime I play any game on CD, it will only give me sound for a few minutes, and then the audio will get very choppy and soon just goes all together. I am running Windows XP and I know that all of my hardware is fast enough. I have also tried to reinstall DirectX, but that did no good. Here is the thing- Audio CD's and DVD's still play great in the PC, so obviusly there is an interaction probelm when running a game. There are no other audio problems either. Oh, I was running the sound straight off the intergrated motherboard at first, but I figured maybe that was the problem. So, I ran out and bought a Soundblaster Audigy to fix it, but it does the exact same thing. Any ideas???
Thanx!!!

Hey all,

I'm new to this forum, so I'm sorry if my post doesn't have the correct format.

Now for the problem, I have Realtek HD Audio for my sound, but since a few windows 10 updates ago, my sound goes dead when playing games (League of legends, WoW aswell). I updated to the newest driver version (22 january 2016) for my audio device, but this didn't solve the problem. I couldn't find others with quite the same kind of problem, so I figured i had to create my own post. Solutions for others with a likewise problem, didn't solve my problem.

To be more clear on the actual problem: My sounds works fine, but after 5 minuten ingame, it starts with some "white noice" (this is the most accurate translation i could find, basically the quality becomes really bad and its starts becoming quieter), and after a minute or so, the sound goes totally off. Sometime it comes back (with bad quality) during the game, sometimes it doesn't. After a few minutes when finishing the game, the sound comes back totally fine like nothing happened.

It isn't only the sound of the game itself, all other sounds stop working (like radio on google chrome). When i look at playback devices, it acts as if it plays the sounds correctly (the green beams keep on moving).

Thanks in advance,
Robert

I'm not sure if I should make this here or in the game forum..sorry if I made the wrong choice. >_>

I'm using an old Soundblaster card, as I can't get the integrated sound card on my mobo working. The name of the sound card, based on what is on the card, is Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Digital. I'm using the Live! 5.1 drivers, as the 5.1 Digital are Dell only..even though my card did not come from a Dell. Oh well.

The problem is, while playing Guild Wars or WoW there is a pretty frequent 'feedback' type of sound. I've tried using headphones, and the sound is still present. However, the sound is NOT present while playing F.E.A.R.. If I turn off the background sounds and effects in Guild Wars, it stops it. Not sure with WoW. I'm fine with using either the integrated card or the PCI card, as long as sound is working fine. I'm not sure if I've done all that is needed to disable the integrated card, as all I've done is disable it in the Device Manager. I'm using Windows XP Prof..
EDIT: Disabling Hardware Acceleration in DXDiag seems to fix it. I've only tried it completely disabled and fully enabled, and only in Guild Wars. Will disabling it cause any problems?

EDIT2: No acceleration and basic acceleration seem to be fine. I just need to know if setting it to that will cause any problems.

Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere and ive missed it

Answer:New GFX Card - no sound only when playing games

How is the screen connected to the moniutor?

Check the sound settings, and make sure its set for the headphone/speakers.

It might be that the game is trying to put its sound out thed hdmi plug.
