[SOLVED] Add (application) program to startup

Question: [SOLVED] Add (application) program to startup

My Gmail notifier program has disappeared from the startup list. I can re-download it and add it to the startup list - but is there an easy way to add an existing program to the startup group?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: [SOLVED] Add (application) program to startup

Should just be able find the executable file and drag it to the startup folder

How do you remove a hidden "StartUp program", like the one shown below? I need to remove it from my system. WinPatrol doesn't even detect it, so I can't remove that hidden program/file with WinPatrol. Is there a program that is made to detect hidden files like this (see below):

I believe the program is actually part of the pesky .NET Framework 2.0 (Service pack 1), which was installed on my computer, yesterday. I want to remove it & all of it's components if one of it's components is the exact same file I'm having trouble finding & removing from my list of StartUp programs. Is there a safe program that can detect & remove .NET Frameworks & other "hard to remove" files?

Thanks for your patience & time. I'd very much appreciate any step-by-step instructions to solve this problem.

Hello all. I have myself a rather vexing issue going on with my operating system (XP x64 Edition SP2) that has me baffled, especially since it has survived an almost foolproof barrage of fixes.

Basically, I noticed very recently that one of my programs that requires an internet connection is unable to connect to the internet, despite having worked fine for almost 2 years now. I blew it off at first, and when I went back again to try it I had the same problem. I ended up downloading another, similar program, and had that problem again. I noticed after this, that some of my games (and other applications) that require an internet connection to update and the like, also are now unable to connect to the internet to perform their functions. Even one of my malware scanners, which requires that it is up to date before being able to run, could not update itself (I manually updated it).

Not sure if this is relevant, but my clock was reset by itself to July 1st 2005, and after I manually reset it, it didn't change itself back (yet).

So in a nutshell, I did some research and found one other guy with a similar problem to my own, which he identified as a worm in his WINDOWS registry. He didn't specify how he removed it.

I've since run my anti-virus software (BitDefender), CCleaner, Ad-aware, Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, HijackThis, and am currently scanning with SUPERAntiSpyware and I've had no luck. Malwarebytes discovered some potentially false positives ignored by Ad... Read more

BitDefender was the culprit. Unfortunately, just disabling the firewall didn't help, I had to completely uninstall it to discover the problem is now fixed.

Try this fix: EXEFIX

Unzip the fix and extract the .REG file to the Desktop. Right-click the .REG file and choose Merge. Note that you need to be an Administrator to apply this fix.

Reboot the computer.

If the fix only opens as a text file, right-click it and select Open With > Choose Program... Then, select the Registry Editor.

If the Registry Editor is not in the list, browse to C:\WINDOWS and select regedit.

I have Nod32, Spyware Doctor Starter, and PC Tools Firewall Plus on my Ultimate desktop, and they just won't show up properly.
I checked the startup entries; there's Nod32kui.exe /WAITSERVICE and FirewallGUI.exe -s and SDTray.exe, and they are all under HKLM:Run.
There's nothing wrong with that, right? But when I log in to my account the tray icons aren't there; I have to start the apps myself.
But before I started the apps manually, I went to Task Manager, show processes from all users, and I FWservice.exe and Nod32krn, but not FirewallGUI.exe and Nod32kui.exe.
After I start the apps manually, those two processes appear.
Is there any way to get the tray apps to start automatically? thanks!

Answer:[SOLVED] Program startup problems

Hi Wox

Likely the fastest cure would simply be to uninstall and then reinstall them. And make sure not to choose any "run-silent" options. Do the uninstalling/reinstalling while disconnected from any networks - otherwise you'd be vulnerable while fixing things.

You might be able to simply root around in their "preferences" and "options" menus to solve the disappearing tray applets issue -- they likely have an option either to run "silently" (with no tray icon) or with the up-front tray applet showing.

If neither idea works, let us know & we can look for a different cure.

Run a few scans, too, just to make sure nothing has corrupted your protectors.

Best of luck

I have been running this program for years. It's called CHOICEMAIL One. It's used for screening out junk emails.
I have it running on two computers and have moved it from Win.xp to Vista, and now to Win7, where it has been working for about 2 years.
On my Satellite Pro with Win/7 I noticed that it wasn't loading at Startup, so I would manually start it and that was OK, but I can't seem to figure out why it doesn't execute at startup?
I ran MSCONFIG to check if it was activated and it is checked to run.
This is the original version I purchased years ago and never bothered to purchase the newer versions since this one works
very well. It just doesn't load at STARTUP.

Hi, this really isn't an issue, just something Ide like to know and couldn't find anyplace else to post it.

I have a video startup and play automatically when my computer boots up, but then the video window is just left sitting there when the video ends. Is there a way to have the video program close itself completely when the video ends ??

Also is there a way to set up a video to run when a certain programs icon is double clicked on the desktop before the program itself actually runs??

Plmk and thanks,

Dash

Answer:[SOLVED] running a video at startup or before a certain program opens

Instead of having the video launch at startup, you can have a batch program start which then opens the video and after a timer close it.

For the program, under the start location of that shortcut within properties, you can add the video as a secondary application to launch.

For example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Videos\Myvideo.mp4"

Hey.
I'm trying to get maximum performance out of my computer, which of course includes removing all those small programs that aren't needed on start up.

I've used Windows built-in option for it, and stopped most of the programs.
BUT! There is 1 program that i simply cant get rid of on start up.
It's "TuneUp Utilities 2010".

I've tried using CCleaner's option to remove programs from the startup, cant find this program.
I've tried "Startup Inspector for Windows", same.

It simply starts up when i boot my computer, and takes up quite a bit of resources. I like its features (so i wont uninstall), but i just dont want it to run 24/7. If i wanted to use it, i could simply start it after starting up Windows.

Any help?

Hi Moonbloom,

A couple of utilities you can try:

Download WhatInStartup (download link at the bottom of that page), unzip it and run it. Right click the entry for TuneUp and select 'Disable'. Close the window and reboot.

Download Mike Lin's StartupCPL, unzip it and run it. The 'Control Panel' version adds a new item named Startup to your Control Panel, the 'Standalone' version simply runs straight off. Check through the tabs and uncheck all references to Tuneup. Close the window and reboot.

I'm not familiar with that application but is there not an option to disable at startup somewhere in the user control panel?

Using VLC Helper at startup bypasses my problem with ease - however I get the VLC Helper window on my screen at startup, so what I've been trying to find is a utility that can hide application windows that startup with Win7.

I have found a few that either don't work or are for Win98, etc. (HideMastes, HStart, HideWizard)

Have also tried adding "-hide" to the startup shortcut with no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks

'Changing open with default program to unknown application' previously posted in this forum.
I followed the instructions posted by tacoman359 (Thank you Tacoman359) but it didn't work. I even restarted my pc and the .cfg is still being associated with notepad.
My os is vista; and I have exactly the same problem and the same reasons as jianming (the first person to post this issue). I even tried a few cmd assoc scripts and still, .cfg "opens with" notepad is still there. I have also tried to disaccoate .cfg from notepad in the other regedit HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT by removing the value data.
Is there anything else I can do to get the default reset back to unkown application?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

In nearly 20 years of using Windows, I've never needed to make a program run at startup, so I have always deleted the "Startup" folder because it has always been redundant and I like my "All Programs" folder to be as neat as possible so I can quickly find what I'm looking for.

However, today for the first time I have 1 program I need to make startup when Windows boots.

So could anyone tell me how to enable the Startup folder once again? Or better still, is there some way to make my program launch on startup without using the Startup folder - like normal programs do?

I don't know the difference between an Application and a Program. Thought the Geektionary would help, but didn't find anything there.

I have 2 Dell Windows XP computers.

If I want to copy something such as Microsoft Money from one pc and install it on the other, what exactly do I need to copy? The application or the program?

And where do I find what I need to copy? :confused

Any help in this area is so appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Application vs. Program

Well basically an Application is an executable file such as Notepad.exe whereas a program can contain more than one application along with numerous other files such as DLL files.

Since the days when Windows had a registry it is far more difficult just to copy a program as it often has numerous entries in the registry which will point to locations of files within the program - this is why prgrams these days are generally installed. Only if the program contains a small number of files or is a self contained executable (such as Notepad which is both a program and an application rolleyes) can a program be copied.

Hope that's all clear. :confusedrolleyes

Hi there

I have XP sp2 and recently started observing slow system startup, slow application start up, slow system shut down and many times my video becomes very slow to refresh when running IE and any other application at the sametime. Almost seems like video memory is not being swapped correctly or maybe something I'm not aware of is running the the background stealing system resources.
I can see that I have many instances of SVCHOST running when opening the TaskManager.
I have run CCleaner and optimized the HD. Not sure where to go from here. I have also shut down/disabled most programs on startup.

Answer:CleanCache application/program

This is more of a question for the Software Forum.

Using this or CCleaner is not necesarily going to stop popups? It is not a popup stopper? It's a drive cleaner which will remove some items that could possibly be related to some problems you are having.

Hello can anyone please tell is there any back up software that can back up a particular application for me? For example, if there is any update for a software and i want to back up the software before updating it, is there any way to do so? I know i can back up the whole computer using Norton Ghost but what if i just want to back up a particular software?

Answer:Backup program for a particular application

Not generally doable. When programs are installed, they make changes in the registry of the computer and in various parts of the Windows operating system. Simply finding a program that will copy over the files, will not copy the registry changes or any other changes..it simply copies files. That is why people who try this run into problems. To date I know of no program that copies applications into a useful format to save. There are migration programs and imaging software etc, but nothing for single applications to my knowledge.

Answer:Worst program/application you've ever used

Backup software, it made me loose all backups, twice. First one "only" corrupted all files.

But the worst was the one from Google. I removed online files and upon sync, it removed local files. I had to redo everything.

I have sworn never to use any automatic backup software ever again, manual backups for me, only copy/paste locally or online.

if you check out the attached image, the first application is something that loads up with Windows, yet I'm not sure what it is. If it is enabled, i will get a message saying "cannot find C:\Program" and it stops there, so i've disabled it

any clue on what the hell it is?

thx

Answer:Unknown application on startup

Can you right-click, and view properties? Every so often I get those as well, and I just delete them. Not quite sure how they get there, but as a general rule, If i dont know what it is, recognize the software, or get a bad google search on it, it gets deleted

Hi,

I'm recieving a C++ runtime error when I open one of my applications (during the opening of a cubase sx3 project). Im running win XP pro - SP3. I recently had to do a repair instal of xp due to a virus and have now updated windows, all drivers, reinstalled cubase and tested all of my plugins, however I get this message when i go to open old projects

The instruction at "0x208f1b8e <this number changes slightly but always 0x2...>" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "Written"

<ok>

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime Error!. C:\program files.....cubase.exe
R6026 -pure virtual function call

<ok>

The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occured in the application at location 0x4e90fc05

<ok>

The app shuts down.
The error occurs as Cubase opens the project and one by one starts opening the plugins used.
I've done a lot of reading on this error and so far can't correct it.

If anyone has any ideas to solve this or as to why I may be getting this then please share them

Also I can't get DR Watson to log the crash is there any other software out there that will monitor and log this crash as it occurs?

Any help would be apprieciated as I've been trying to figure this out for 2 weeks now!

this problem started happening after I had run WMI.bat( that was in tutorial to fix system restore not working)
System restore now works, but now every time I restart system the following happens,
Event 11, Wininit
Custom Dynamic Link Libraries are being loaded for every application
see attachment

Thank you for any help on this

Answer:all DLL's are being loaded for every application on startup

The following solved my problem.

In the registry, please change the value of HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\LoadAppInit_DLLs from 1 to 0, reboot, and check if the event in question is still logged. (Would also want to check if HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\LoadAppInit_DLLs was set to 1 and if so, change it to 0.) Note the value to check is LoadAppInit_DLLs of type REG_DWORD, rather than LoadAppInit_DLLs of type REG_SZ.

I have an HP Pavilion a1600n PC~3 years old, w/XP Media Center Edition 2002, Service Pack 3.

The message reads: The instruction at “0x0040fda9” referenced memory at “0x00000004.” The memory could not be “read.” Click on OK to terminate the program.
In addition to the startup error, I am unable to download any of my HP UPdates. I have run 2 different Registry Cleaners, and they helped eliminate my Startup errors down to this one. But I do not know how to get rid of this last startup error.
Thanks for your help!

I keep getting an occasional popup at start up which states that one of the files containing the system's Registry data has had to recovered by use of a log or alternate copy the event ID is 26. From what information I have been able to find the error refers to a corrupt or misplaced drive (?) if this is the case how can I establish what/where the problem is and how can I correct it. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks

The computer operating system is XP Home SP2 and is fully patched and updated.

Answer:Application Popup At Startup

From what I understand that error code is assoicated with Microsoft windows terminal services. It pops up when the service expires or the terminal cannot connect to the server. Are you running this computer in a work enviroment? Is this a Corporate version of XP? If so comtact your administrator or use the instruction to disable the error message.

Hello!

Often when I try to open applications, they do not open for several minutes. BUT, this is no ordinary slow machine. Every already-open application works great during this time. The mouse cursor quickly changes back to the standard pointer (no hourglass) after attempting to launch something. Incidentally, starting programs from the command prompt/Run menu has the exact same delay.

Eventually, all programs that I have tried to open during this time of delay open all at once. The length of delay doesn't seem to be dependent on the number or complexity of applications opened. The Task Manager also delays opening, which makes it difficult to check out runnign processes, but I did succeed once, in keeping it open after a delay and experiencing a later delay, and none of the applications I opened showed up in the processes list until they were all visibly opened.

A delay is never guaranteed, and after a delay has completed, programs open normally (until another delay).

Perhaps related, when launching/using Windows Explorer, it hangs (or sometimes just takes a very long time) any time I try to access My Computer. I can do anything in any folder (e.g. Run: C:\, C:\Windows, or D:\), and open them directly, but I can't access My Computer with its list of drives.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

When logged in to a domain-based workstation under an admin account, if you install a program will this install under all the user accounts? If I recall correctly, I had an application that was installed on one user in the past, but not the others.

Also, what is the best way to install an application for one specific user and not the others?

Whenever installing an application/ program in the past, I always logged on to an admin account and subsequently installed the application. I am just curious if there are other options and if so, how to do it.

I'm troubleshooting a Windows XP (SP2) eMachine (with a fresh OS install on a new hard drive - no original eMachine software remains on the system) and I've never encountered such a persistent problem: certain applications (Fruit Loops, Adobe Acrobat Reader, among others) run fine after installation, but after a reboot they will not run. Their shortcuts, as well as the actual program executables, lose their original icons and are mysteriously changed to the generic window icon (the one Windows will use for a file type is doesn't recognize.) When I try to run these programs, using the desktop shortcut OR the actual executable, I get the error dialog box: "This program is not a valid Win32 application." This happens to several applications, while others (Pro Tools, Acid) remain unaffected and can be executed w/o any problem.
*Note: this computer is not connected to the Internet, so it is unlikely that this is some type of virus.

What could be causing this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hello all. I have myself a rather vexing issue going on with my operating system (XP x64 Edition SP2) that has me baffled, especially since it has survived an almost foolproof barrage of fixes.

Basically, I noticed very recently that one of my programs that requires an internet connection (P2P Program) is unable to connect to the internet, despite having worked fine for almost 2 years now.

I've since run my anti-virus software (BitDefender), CCleaner, Ad-aware, Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, HijackThis, and SUPERAntiSpyware and I've had no luck. Malwarebytes discovered some potentially false positives ignored by Ad-aware and m... Read more

Hello Everyone,

I've finally had enough. I am sick and tired of using windows control panel to uninstall programs. Why? Because 1/2 the time I use the add/remove programs thing it doesnt uninstall the program completly. It will leave folders, files, registry entries, hidden crap, and who knows what else still on my computer from the program I wanted to uninstall. Then I have to go back and try to delete them manually, then pray that a registry cleaner will find the rest (which usually doesnt happen).

I'm looking for something that will completely remove EVERYTHING when I uninstall a program. I dont care if it costs money or if its free, as long as it works.

Thank you if you can help.

EDIT: on a side note. Also looking for an easy to use free macro program. Somthing that I can use to press a key stoke, have a few minute delay, and repeat the key stroke. Then loop that untill I press stop.

Hey guys, I realize that I am not the only person that has encountered this problem, as my research has shown. I tried to ready some similar posts and problems on this forum and others, but I seem to get stuck at certain steps. Here is my situation. Im on a Dell latitude d630 running windows vista. I fell asleep watching Dexter online and when I woke up there was a new looking Anti-Virus program on my task bar that i do not remember installing. The program showed hundreds of infections and was prompting me to delete only if i bought their antivirus. After realizing I could not delete these infections i tried to close the program and open my Malwarebytes Anti Malware and also Synamatec Antivirus. Both programs failed to open, and an error message bubbled off of the "Antivirus" icon. As soon as this happened I tried harder to download new antivirus and to get this off my comp. But no matter what I download, I am unable to install/open. I cannot open task manager, and recently new virus alerts have been popping up. One says i have an infiltration alert about trojans and password stealing attacks, and when I press stay unprotected www.*censored*.com pops up. I tried to fix this going off what you said to others, but I would appreciate a little one on one help to walk me through this, as each case may be different entirely. Thanks a lot!

I have a flash application running within a secure site. The program uses resources such as video clips and powerpoint presentations. Video clips work OK, but when I ask it to open a .ppt, a popup window appears briefly and then disappears again.
Popup blocker is disabled, and I don't have google or yahoo toolbars.
It's running in a trusted site with all the settings set to minimum security.
there is nothing wrong with the ppt - it runs perfectly on my pc, and from within my secure site.
And (perhaps crucially) it all works perfectly in Firefox!

This all leads me to conclude that there is a setting in IE7 that is wrong, but I can't for the life of me figure out what.

Can anybody help?
The ppt is one of the Resources within the SCORM-compliant "OCR PE AS level Teaching Support" from Heinemann. This is running as a course within the Fronter VLE. (Just on the off-chance that there is someone with specific knowledge of this!)

Thanks in advance.

3. Click the Save ALL Information

My family computer is a desktop PC running Windows Vista with McAfee. I make sure to run all updates ASAP. My updates are current through yesterday. Step 2:
Make sure that you transfer the tools to the instructed directories given in the R & R Me FIRST
Both SAS & MBAM should be saved to C:\Downloads.. then installed to C:\Program Files
Once installed, open each application and update their definitions databases before running a "Quick scan".

Is it possible in Windows 7 (either via a windows feature or an add-on program) to password protect individual programs or software so that when you try to run the software you first need to provide a password? Please note this is not the same as UAC in Windows 7. I want to be able to lock down certain programs so that when a user tries to run the program (say Internet Explorer or Microsoft Access) they will be prompted for a password. This would be very handy in a shared user scenario. Is this possible via the group policy editor? Thanks!

Answer:Password protect an application or program

This is not supported by Windows but third party applications may provide this feature. Windows security doesn't work that way.Windows security is based on the users account and the groups it is a member of. This is in the files and folder security properties. Don't change anything here unless you know what you are doing.Note that if the user is using an admin account he can evade any and all restrictions you might impose.

Hello,

I'm sitting on my brother's computer, trying to clean it up a bit, and now when I boot it, I get a repeating application error:

Error: SDTrayApp.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x51f29ff6" referenced memory at "0x010e4e54". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

Upon clicking OK, the same error pops up again.

I can (obviously) still work around it, but do not know how to get it to stop.

He is running Windows XP Pro, Version 5.1 - Service Pack 2.
The computer is plagued with viruses and spyware, which I have been slowly trying to clean using various freeware search programs. The most recent one used was the Eusing Free Registry Cleaner.

Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

And they're just a few of the many listed. I was getting the 'failed to run dll as app' error previously so I system restored and now am stuck with this.

Once I click close to all the errors which open upon startup the computer seems to function smoothly so its just a problem with all the error notifications.

Ive looked around an don't know how to get rid of all these application errors. Maybe a registry cleaner? I want to be sure before I get the software.

Any help appreciated,
Thanks in advance

Answer:Faulty application errors on startup

I would suggest trying a System restore to a week ago at least.

Failing a fix that way, a Repair Install.

I got a little problem: vonagetalk does not start properly from Autostart. There are few other applications interfering at startup. When I start vonagetalk manually after everything loaded I got no problems at all.So what I am looking for is a small application to delay the start of a program. So I could add this app into my startup files and let vonagetalk be started 30 secs later.

Answer:Startup Application Delay Tool?

I'm not sure, but you may want to look at Scheduled TasksStart --> All Progrmas --> Accessories --> System Tools

Hi,

I recently downloaded Uniblue 'SpeedUpMyPC 2009', and just recently I get these error messages at startup, which I am not able to use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, so I went into Safe Mode and am currently posting in Safe Mode.
I am also getting a Blue screen of death which automatically shuts my computer down.

I have run a DDS, which which I will post in a reply.

I also recently updated my computer and got Windows XP Service Pack 3 (I know it's years old, but I only got the prompt recently).

I am really worried, as I cannot do anything on my computer without going on Safe Mode to do it.
I am also not able to Re-Image my PC, as I am part of a domain (not an admin) which I cannot edit registry either.

The GMER scan I currently scanning (taking a long time), but here's the DDS

Greetings everyone. My first posting here... I have been getting an error on startup almost simultaneously with the login in dialog box. The message says:

svchost.exe application error. The instruction at "0x7c91b21a" referenced memory at "0x000000a0". The memory could not be written.

Click OK to terminate the program.
Click on Cancel to debug the program.

I am wondering whether I have spyware on my machine. I never visit any weird websites so I really wonder how I could have gotten a spyware (if any).

The hijackthis log is below. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm using a Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1.

A few days ago, my brother installed a bunch of programs on my laptop and downloaded some stuff. After that, my computer was running slowly during startup and programs would take minutes to initialize. I ran Malwarebyte's and found Adware.MyWebSearch, which I deleted. I also ran Spybot:S&D, which found nothing. I restarted the computer and it seemed to be working at normal speed again.

At the same time that my computer started running slowly, I also began getting a popup from my system tray saying something like "Some programs have been blocked at startup" and said to click to view them. Clicking did nothing so I right clicked the "Blocked startup programs" icon in my system tray and went to "Run blocked program". The only program listed there is "UpdateUtil Application".

When I go to "Show or remove blocked startup programs", I see that there's a program called "UpdateUtil Application" under the heading "Microsoft". It lists Microsoft as the publisher; however, it is not signed. There are no other programs under the "Microsoft" heading. All of the other Microsoft programs are under the "Microsoft Corporation" heading and are signed by "Microsoft Windows Verification PCA". It also says that it's "Permitted" even though it's claiming to be blocked.

Here's some additi... Read more

Hello all,

I happened upon this site yesterday when I was having a problem with explorer crashing at startup on my toshiba laptop (P4 3.33GHz, 1GB DDR, 100GB HDD, DVD-RAM, Win XP Home SP2, etc.)

Anyway, this site was pretty helpful, and I wanted to say thanks. I actually did not find the solution here im my case (though the ideas were really helpful), so I wanted to post what actually worked in my case...hopefully it will help someone else out in the future.

The problem in my case was a corrupt wininet.dll file (win32 internet extension that reads HTML files, etc.). After deleting the corrupt one from windows\system32 and replacing it with a fresh one from the XP cd at the safe mode command prompt, problem solved!

Thanks again for the help!

I get the following error evry time my Windows XP Media Center PC boots

The instruction at "0x0101050c" referenced memory at "0x117e4000". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program

When I click either the system reboots and I'm stuck here.

I cannot get it to boot in safe mode but I can boot to a DOS prompt in the Microsoft Windows Recovery console.

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:winlogon.exe application error on startup

I have tried to get the system to run in SAFE Mode and was unsuccesful. However I did tell it to ignore the error and continue and then got a BLUE screen with the following message

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The windoes Logon Process systems process terminated unexpectedly with a status of
0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

Is there a diagnostic program I can run at the DOS prompy under the Microsoft Windows recovery console that can help diagnose the problem?

Any help is appreciated.

recently I've been having random shutdown errors or BSOD (Blue Screens Of Death). From what
I have seen mostly recently the errors include

1) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
2) KMode_exception_not_handled
3) critical_structure_corruption
4) irql_not_less_or_equal
5)system_thread_exception_not_handled

of these three i seem to get critical structure error the most. I have looked into different web solutions for all as well but have yet to find a solution for myself. I have also tried doing a complete system restore and am still experiencing theses problems. Because of this it would make sense for it to be a hardware problem however I have tried multiple different hardware test with no signs of failure. I am aware I might need to post some specific crash file or something but not sure which one or where to find them so if needed just specify. Note I've also tried looking into out of date drivers however I have a hard time finding a proper download for certain things or programs to help me fix them that don't seem suspicious and ask for money.

Answer:BSOD, Usually soon after startup ( No Particular game or application )

Seems if I might have fixed it on my own, I think in the end it was something as simple as bad RAM i did not think this was the problem because Memetest and other hardware programs said it was fine however when i took it out and ran about 7 or so restart test I have yet to crash. I will try a few more test and leave this as unsolved for the moment in the case that i do run in to the error but if i don't get anything for the rest of today or probably tomorrow ill mark it off as the problem and solved.

Hey guys, Something kind of spooky is going on here. It seems like on some startup my Nvidia command center starts and keeps a tray icon on my task bar. Sometimes it does not. I noticed significantly faster boot times when the Nvidia icon is not present. I understand we have optimus technology which may decide no applications are configured to use the GPU right now so lets not load the control app? Is this how this works? I took a look in bios and OS detection is set to OFF by default, but to my understanding this is only alows the OS to SHUT OFF optimus if it's not used. I'm no longer dual booting and only use windows so Optimus knows it can run regardless -- is this also correct?? If the driver works and switches the GPU off when GPU intensive apps are not on without the control panel app loading I would like it not to load as my boottime is much quicker. Thanks for your help guys!   -Louis

Hello, this is my first time using this forum so I apologize if I do something wrong.

So normally, whenever I hover my mouse over a program located on the taskbar, I get a preview screen showing what is currently being viewed on that program. I can still get that, however, it never shows itself above the active program (last program I've clicked).

This happens with each and every program I have opened and tried. I tested the method of having the active program sitting in a place where it would only slightly conceal the preview (not maximized). Then having inactive programs (I've clicked on something else besides them last) behind the active one and the preview. Then I can see that that the preview will cover all inactive programs but the active program will still cover the preview.

I hope I've detailed what's happening well enough. I don't remember when this first started happening but I do know that it is not supposed to function like this. The preview should always be visible and on top no matter if there are active programs or not.

I also tried to get a picture of it happening, but it's kinda hard to take a picture of something that requires the active program to not hide itself (like snipping tool does).

Hi all,

I'm having a rather strange issue that I haven't been able to trace, mostly because although the error itself makes sense to me, I have no idea what it means.

I'm using Windows XP pro, 32 bit with service pack 3 on an HP 8510W notebook. Recently I noticed that every time I closed a program, or a program exited properly, I received an error that looked something like this.

notepad.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00bb1f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x03051f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

taskmgr.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x009c1f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
And so on, with everything from Reaper to firefox to Task Manager. I've also noticed two other things, which are:
A. this error never occurs if I manually end the task from within task manager or tskill, only when the program legitimately exits.
B. The first hex value always changes, but the second value, the memory being referenced, always stays the same.

This windows install has had some issues in the past anyway, and I'm two steps from installing windows 7 on this thing as it is. The on... Read more

Anyone know of a program that will capture every keystroke you do and send it to a specific application you want?

I'm not sure this site's Terms of Service allow help to be provided for such programs. There's no way to know why you want such information, and some uses could be illegal.

I have a broken laptop that has everything on it. I did back up to an
external hard drive Segate using the Bounce Back Express. When I get
my laptop fixed, I would like to transfer application/programs from laptop
to desktop, both have XP Professional. I know I will need program with
this data cable, but which one. My last questions would be can I transfer
programs/files with that program from a laptop with XP Professional to
Windows 7. Buying a new laptop within 10 days.
Please Advise.
Thanks
Duvall

Answer:Can anyone recommend a Application & file transfer program?

Transfering your files back depends on the method of how you have backed them up.
If you have done it using Bounce Back Express, maybe this application has option for restoring the files?

Also if you want to transfer application files from XP to Win 7 this will not work.
You will need to reinstall all applications on Windows 7 and then transfer your other files such as video, music, pictures etc.

I have a split Access 2013 "application program?. This application program has a Front-end part that exists on each terminal within the network. The back-end part (the data) lives on the File server with Windows Server 2012. The front-end and back-ends are connected to each other with cat6 cable. This works great.
