I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I upgraded my T500 to Windows 7 Professional from Vista Business.  Since upgrading, I have been unable to obtain satisfactory WiFi connectivity.  Symptoms are that I cannot stream from either the internet or my local server without experiencing periodic interruptions and/or total drops.  I've tried reinstalling the driver, replacing the WiFi card itself, and adjusting the parameters associated with the adapter card.  Nothing seems to help.  I also own a T61 laptop which I also upgraded from Vista Business to Windows 7 Professional, and I have had no problems with WiFi connectivity on that machine.  It also has an Intel Wifi adapter but a different model.  Both laptops connect to my LAN and the internet through the same D-Link wireless access router. I'm beginning to suspect that the Windows 7 driver for this particular WiFi adapter is flawed.  Has anyone in this forum had a similar experience? Thanks in advance for your comments/assistance.

Hi all,
I'm having an issue with my TP Link USB wifi adapter losing connectivity during video calls or extended downloads.
I have tried multiple recommended fixes; disable power options allowing sleep, uninstalled/reinstalled USB drivers, disabled USB legacy support in the BIOS etc but it still seem to get intermittent drops especially during high packet count streams like during video calls over google hangouts.

I'm currently running windows 10 pro with all recently patches, wifi router is a TP-LINK archer C7 and a TP link USB adapter running 5Ghz.

I've played around with multiple settings on the adapter to no avail.
Also, this seems to be the only device thats dropping, I have other devices; laptops, XBOne connected via wifi which have no issues. To resolve the loss, I just have to unplug/plug the adapter back in to bring the connection back up. This almost looks like an issue with the USB specifically since the signal is always 300Mb+ and the windows antenna doesnt show as disconnected, I just start loosing pings and I have to pull/plug the adapter.

PS: I didn't see any default template to posting system diag like I've seen on other forums in the distant past, so if that is a necessity, please shoot me a link to the instructions.
Thank you for your assistance.

I have a Gateway FX series 17" laptop and yesterday when I got home from university and took the computer out of my bag to start working, the wireless card just didnt exist, no networks were recognized and when i tried to troubleshoot it told me that no device was connected. Wired internet works just fine. And the wireless card appears in the device manager.

methods i have tried to no avail:
-turning the wireless switch on and off
-uninstalling the device and rebooting
-updating drivers
-manually downloading driver from Intel's website
-insulting the device's mother

I'm suspecting this might be a hardware issue but if anyone has some advice that would be great. For the time being I am just using a wired connection but I'm going to need the wireless when I'm. back in class

,Thanks guys

I have tried updating the driver several times.  I am at the most recent version of the driver,, and it is still not present as an option.  All I see is EAP-MSCHAPv2 and SmartCard or other certficate.  I do not have any of the Intel ProSet or ThinkAdvantage apps to manage wireless.  I tried to get rid of the vendor cruft.  Was that a mistake?

eGreetings All,

I have a 4 year old Acer Netbook Aspire One D250-1341. Running Windows 7 Starter. It is out of warranty.
About 3 months ago it started dropping the wireless internet connection. It has a Broadcom 802.11g network adapter onboard. (No exclamation mark in the Device Manager). It still connects at close range to my router.

I tried some general adjustments by searching the web - but nothing helped.

So I thought I would try adding an Intel Wifi Link 5300 AGN card. There is a slot on the bottom of the netbook where it fits. You just take the cover off and slide it in.
Windows found the card and installed the drivers. It shows up in Device Manager with no exclamation. I manually disabled the Broadcom adapter.
But the Intel 5300 won't find my network.
I went to the Intel web site and ran the Driver Update Utility it searched and found the 5300 and installed the current drivers.
Still no luck connecting.

Maybe this setup won't work at all and I should send the Intel 5300 card back to Amazon for a refund?
I am at a loss.
I have tried searching the web and I can't find anyone that has added a a wireless card to the open slot on the bottom of an Acer D250.

Any ideas? I was hoping to get a stronger and more stable wireless connection.

Thank you so much for your time and assistance.
Happy Holidays!

Hey guys, I've been a X61T(tablet) user for over 2 years now and have never had WiFi connection issues, whatsoever. I upgraded to Windows 7 last year and things only got better.  But, today, after uninstalling a program called "Connectify", that basically transforms your laptop into a WiFi hotspot, my Wireless Radio JUST WON'T SWITCH ON! My Wireless Radio switch(that's in front) is on(I pushed it to the right). Up until yesterday, it was working great. I even used my Wireless Network to create a WiFi hotspot using Coonectify. I also deleted it from Connectify because it wasn't working. And then, I just uninstalled Connectify because I didn't see a point in creating a hotspot, when I have a Wireless Router at home. I rebooted my PC and Viola --- WIRELESS RADIO HAS BEEN DEAD! I don't see the green LED for WiFi on the extreme left blinking anymore. Gone!  Went to Device Manager and I didn't see any problems with the Intel WiFi Link 4695 Device driver. I still uninstalled it and downloaded the most recent one. STILL NOT WORKING! I checked the registries to see if I can find any entries from Connectify that may be causing the problem, but Nada! Nothing there as well! I'm feeling pretty downbeat because I got a new Wireless Router yesterday NETGEAR N-150 and not even 24 hours later, I'm back to using ETHERNET cable! I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out here! Thanks.

I have had a Linksys BEFW11S4 Version 4 Wireless router for quite some time.  It works like a champ and I have one Laptop wired to it and a second using Wireless working just fine.  Recently, I received a new ThinkPad W500 Laptop with an Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN wireless network adapter.  The older laptop (ThinkPad T60p) that works just fine with the router uses a11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter by Atheros.  However, the NEW laptop (the W500) with the Intel Adapter fails to connect to the Router.  It will either indicate a failure while "Waiting for Association" or it will indicate a failure when waiting to "renew IP Address".  Sometimes, it will show a signal strength close to ZERO (Even as the older laptop with the other adapter is showing a signal strength close to 100%) When I called Linksys support, I was told that the facts that the Router (a) works find with the wired Laptop and (b) works fine with the 11a/b/g NEtwork Adapter and (c) works fine when WIRED to the new laptop all indicate that the problem is NOT with the router at all -- but with the Network Adapter.  Can anyone tell me what has to be adjusted in the Adapter settings?  Right now, I am using IBM Access Connections for BOTH of the wireless laptops.  I have made sure to set IDENTICAL values for SSID and WEP (128-bit) [static] password.  I have also ensured that all OTHER settings are the same for the two laptops.  Yet, in... Just like what you would see for an EthernetAdapter..... this all looks a bit weird to me.....As I did not configure this laptop, I do not know if the Hotkey and Power Manager were installed BEFORE the Access Connections or not.... any ideas? TIA --Zvi

Answer:Malfunctioning wireless network adapter (Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG)

I have similar experience too, but malfunction only happens when I am trying to connect to my school network which is WPA2-enterprise or WPA-enterprise. My wireless seems to work fine at home with WPA-personal. All other laptops work fine (so it is my laptop). The signal is fine because it register 100% strength. Basically, mine works for a few minutes, then it starts malfunctioning (school network only). During malfunction, it cannot detect any wireless network (even those that aren't WPA-enterprise). When it can detect wireless network again, it may or may not be able to reconnect to the school network.

I have the wireless adapter working fine, well it was working fine. the strength of the connection was only 2 bars for some reason as of late. i have other computers and theyre all fine. so i assume maybe i can fix it by installing the drivers for it. the moment i install it the computer stops recognizing that i even have the wireless card hooked into my mother board! did the driver installation break it? because even it when it was supposedly done installing it claimed that i needed to actually plug the thing in! even though it was working fine a minute ago. ive tried running the program but it wont even acknowledge my clicking. i tried unplugging and plugging the hardware in and that didnt work, i even changed its slots. i dont know what to do short of just reloading windows on it and skipping every using the driver cd.

ugh, anyone else with similar problems?

I had been using the Netgear FA-311 network adapter for a long time to access my cable connection, and I had no problems with it untill I began trying to play Multiplayer Online games over the card. At that point I discovered that the card was no longer supported by windows and there was no existing driver for XP which caused the game to slow down noticably and crash in high traffic situations. For this reson I went out and got a new D-Link DFE-530TX adapter which I was told would give me optimal performance. While I had some trouble setting up the card at first, I was eventually able to get it to run and no longer encountered the game errors. Recently however, I have been unable to connect to the internet over this card.
When attempting to make a connection, the process fails when trying to obtain my IP address. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card (removed it completely). I tried to update the drivers but none were available (Windows autotomatically detected the card and claims to have built in driver support). I also tried changing which PCI slot the card was attached to. I currently have both cards installed and am able to connect on the netgear card but not the d-link, although windows can find no error with the hardware. What can I do to diagnose and correct this problem?

Answer:Problem with D-Link Network Adapter

Does anyone have any suggestions at all? I am pulling my hair out in frustration here... I have tried everything I can think of to get this to work. I am supposed to be meeting some freinds for a game in an hour and unless I can get this card working again, I'm SOL.... thanks for your attention

Hello there,
I have bought a new TP LINK Wireless adapter and trying installing it on my Desktop (OS: Windows 7 x64). Firstly, I am Dowloading the driver from the official site and installing it through device manager -> update driver of wifi adapter next giving the exact folder destination of x64 win7 driver I have downloaded. Although, the system says that it installed correctly when i try to search for new connection it did not find anything.

However, when i tried the same steps on my laptop it worked great.

You can see in the pics what the problem is. Can anyone help me to get rid of the lan cable :

Hello guys,
I'm new to this forum, but I've read your threads before, and it helped me alot.
Well this is the thing. I've installed this LAN card (TF-3239D) in PCI slot of this motherboard (ELITEGROUP 945GCT - M2/1333 v1.0A) and I have one persistent problem, it won't get IP adress from my router. Other PC is getting it without any problems.
Reason why I use PCI slot Ethernet adapter is because one on MB is not responding when i plug cable, but it's recognized by PC and installed as well.
Everything else is working on MB...
When I enter properties of Network connection i get this (it's on the photo i've attached)
Can you help me from step 1, including inserting card ... everything to tiniest idiotic thing, because I'm missing something. Thank you guys in advance !

Hi everyone.I have a Thinkpad T22 and when I updated it from Win2000 to XP (SP3) it stopped recognizing my D-Link DWL-650 Wireless Adapter. I`ve already updated the PC Bios, and almost every driver available here at Lenovo support page but nothing happens. The Windows recognize the hardware as"Ethernet Controller" (but the card lights not even turn on) and I can`t find the driver. Then I installed the driver from D-Link site but nothing happens at the end of installation.
The internet "wired" is working fine with no problems at all.Anyone had any issues like this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:T22 doesn`t recognize D-Link DWL-650 Wireless Adapter + WPA problem

Hi. Well, I must tell you guys that after trying 5 different versions of the driver offered on D-Link site, I managed to make the card work. It does recognize my wireless network but can't connect to it because of the encryption. I use WPA but the DWL-650 just shows WEP. And I know it can support WPA because on Windows 2000 it worked just fine. Does anyone knows how to solve this problem? And administrators, should I put this in another thread or I can leave it here? Thanks in advance for any help.

So I've had this (D-Link DWL-G122 rev. B) adapter for about 2 years now and it hasn't given me problems until recently.

I'm off at college and when I get home for the end of my trimester, the PC in my room has no internet connection. The adapter refuses to connect to any network and maintain that connection for more than a few seconds.

I've tried the following already:

- Clean install of drivers.
- Fiddling with different router channels.
- Turning off all other wireless devices in the area (phones, bluetooth, etc...).
- Using other USB ports on the computer.
- Trying several other networks in my neighborhood.
- Trying the device on other works fine on the other ones.

Based on the last thing on that list, my conclusion is that something's funky with my PC or my network settings for that computer since I tried three other PC's on my home network with this adapter and they all work fine.

I was gonna call tech support, but it's Sunday. They probably won't be able to help anyways, they never do for tech issues beyond those that tech dumbies throw at them.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Every time I boot up my computer, I get an error message that goes as follows: "The procedure entry point apsGetReady could not be located in the .dynamic link library wlanapi.dll". It didn't seem to affect anything, I just kept having to close it every time I booted up.

This was getting to be a nuisance, so I looked up the solution on D-Link's support website and they told me to install the latest drivers for my wireless adapter, the D-Link DWL G132 Wireless Adapter.

However, the setup program for the drivers (version 1.30, for vista) doesn't seem to recognize my card, even though it's plugged in and functioning fine. It just says "Wireless adapter not found. Please plug in the DWL-G132 and click yes."

I can't seem to figure out what the problem is, and I would like to get rid of this rather annoying error every time I boot up.

Thanks in advance

Ok I have a Asus G60VX thats less than a year old running windows 7. On Friday (three days ago) the system was working fine, I could connect to the internet and everything. Tonight when i turned on my laptop it showed that i couldn't connect to the internet. So i rebooted both my computer and router thinking it was my brother playing Xbox live. It still didn't work. So i tried the usual suspects: deleted the saved file and made a new one, went into the device manager and made sure there weren't any problems (there weren't), i even tried doing a system restore but to no avail. I tried the Fn combo on my keyboard and the switch on the front but this still didn't work. After three hours searching for a solution on my desktop (which can access the internet fine) I kinda want to take a sledge hammer to the thing. :) So at this point i'm begging for a solution! thanks!

Answer:Problem with Intel WiFi link 5100?

Did you install any iTunes or Apple software before this happened?

For now, try resetting the network protocol tcp/ip stack. In an elevated command prompt, copy and paste this then hit enter:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
Then do the same for this command:

netsh winsock reset
Reboot and test the connection. If still no good, go into Internet Explorer.

Tools | Internet Options | Connection | Lan Settings

and make sure there are no checked boxes. Then ok your way out a few times. Reopen IE and test.

If still no good, please respond about the Apple, iTunes software and/or do you have mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager?

i set up the router with this same laptop using a wired connection and the d-link set-up wizard, and i got an internet connection just won't connect wirelessly...

of course i reset the router and the cable modem (time warner/roadrunner)...

is it an ip address problem? if so, how do i solve it?

thanks for any ideas...

Hello, I have a problem with a Tplink W8968. My Canon printer wifi does'nt work with this router. I tried to setup the Canon with another router and it works fine. With Tplink It's impossibile to use it in wifi. If I try to install the Canon with the software - - the printer does'nt work because the router doesn't assign any ip address to the printer. I tried also to put manually a Ip address but I have the same problem: the Canon is not visible by wifi. Please help me!

I upgraded from 8.1 to 10.0 2-3 weeks ago. Wifi worked fine until a couple of days ago. Now the icon says "Not connected - No connections are available." But there are! I'm sending this from my Windows 8.1 notebook and it says there are 4 wifi's available and all have a strong signal. When I go to "Control Panel > Network & Internet > Network Connections" it shows Wi-Fi as disabled. When I double click on it it goes thru the motions and shows it as Enabling and then "Enabled", but the Wi-Fi area still shows it as "Disabled". It is an "Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260" (whatever that is I don't know as I'm a definite novice and not a techie)! Then I went to "Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Troubleshooting > Network and Internet". When I tried to repair it, the message said "Problems found...There might be a problem with the driver for the Wi-Fi adapter."I have no idea what caused this to stop working or what to do to get our wifi back!

Answer:Wifi did work, now doesn't...Got message "... a problem WiFi adapter"

I would uninstall the driver, go out to Intel and get the latest windows 10 compatible driver and install it.

There is a driver for your wireless adapter and it is windows 10 compatible.

Intel site is here :

go to the latest downloads section, click "view all" and download the driver for your card be it either in a 32 bit or 64 bit system.

Hi all!! I am new here... Today I bought the intel centrino advance N6235 wireless card for my laptop. I have installed all drivers from intel, but only bluetooth works. Wifi doesn't recognized from the system, like i have no wifi adapter connected. What i can do??

Thanks for your answers.

Answer:Problem with my new WiFI Adapter

Hi there
doesn't the laptop have a built in wireless card -- sometimes they don't have LAN ports but I'm sure any laptop (inc cheap netbooks) have had wireless cards already FOR AGES as standard -- at least 10 - 12 years -- just ensure it's enabled.

So I have an optic fibre at home and it gave me no problems on my old computer, running Windows 7. I recently got a new one, now it's running Windows 8.1 and also here are the complete stats:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 8.1, 64 bit
Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor, AMD64 Family 21 Model 2 Stepping 0
Processor Count: 8
RAM: 8149 Mb
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, -2048 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 511648 MB, Free - 415484 MB; D: Total - 1395727 MB, Free - 696634 MB;
Motherboard: ASRock, 990FX Extreme3
Antivirus: McAfee Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware, Updated and Enabled

The problem I have is that when I start using the internet on wireless heavily (like say, downloading at a speed of 4 megabytes per second), the computer loses connection with the WiFi adapter - I have a TP - Link TL-WN823N adapter which according to Microsoft compatibility checker is supposed to work OK with Windows 8.1, though I know that those compatibility checks aren't always very good. What happens is that - say - when I am downloading a game, it would periodically disconnect when it's downloading at a high speed and then reconnect automatically, although some times I would have to plug it and unplug it. Any ideas why would this happen? A while ago I had some problems with USB devices in general - like all of them would some times lose connection, but then I changed my old adapter to this one (the old one kept disconnecting too) and now it only happens with the adapter... All available wifi networks show poor connectivity and when I connect to any known network, for eg my home wifi, I get very poor connectivity even when I am sitting right next to my router/modem. The adapter also resets many times by itself. When I checked with other laptops in my home if the problem was with wifi, they are working with full connectivity. Plese provide a better soluton.

I have a terrible laptop, a Dell Inspiron 3148 with Intel i3 processor. It runs Windows 10, (ugh). I bought it to use as a portable laptop, which I transport with me. This thing has had a number of problems since I purchased it last Fall. The Dell Service Technicians repaired a few problems remotely. It has been sent in to a service hub, and a service technician came to me to work on it. In case you are wondering, they didn't tell me I could return it within a certain period of time, they just keep trying to fix it.

The main problem now is the WiFi connection. No matter where I go, the laptop either won't connect to the WiFi or disconnects within ten minutes. I then spend several minutes, either running the trouble-shooter, to reset the WiFi adapter, or restarting the laptop until I can get it connected again. After a couple weeks the Bluetooth adapters disappear from the device manager, under Network Adapters. The only thing remaining is the Dell Wireless 1708...

Dell has replaced the WiFi adapter twice and the antenna once. The TCP protocols have been reset. They have remotely worked on it and reset everything multiple times. They even installed Windows 8 to see if that made a difference. I contacted Microsoft for help and followed their instructions to,

Clear the DNS and manually configure the TCP/IP settings
Install the drivers in Compatibility mode
Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter
Check the Dependency Services of the WLAN AutoConfig
reset the wi... Read more

Answer:Wifi Adapter Problem

Since you can't return it and it might not be great wasting time anytime you want to connect wirelessly because there is obviously something that hasn't been properly fixed, have you considered just using a wifi/USB wireless dongle instead of the semi-broken internal device?

If you buy one, read the reviews first to be sure it works with Win 10 and is easy to set up.

I stil use very old Toshiba A350D. Notebook works fine with Office, internet browsing and other light task.
But last days i notice a problem with wifi connection. Well, the card constantly switches off automatically. I use Intel Wifi ProSET tool and Windows 7 system tools.
Windows 7 indicator shown no avilable connections and ProSET indicator shown wifi disabled and ask for turn on wifi with hardware switcher, when hardware switcher (mechanical slider with LED on front) is in the 'on' position and LED flashes.

When this happens, the wifi card is still detected in the Windows device manager. I reinstalled all drivers, but this didn't fix the problem.
The card can be switched on and off several times per minute, but most often when the card is turned off it is hard to activate it again.

Fn + F8 works well, if WiFi Link works properly himself.

Is there still someone who remembers this model and met with such behavior?

I am new here. I'm not even sure if this question is in the correct forum (I hope so). I have a Toshiba Satellite A305 laptop that I purchased a few months ago. In the last month, the wireless connection has been dropping like mad ! And more recently, when it drops, it says it can't find any wireless networks. I then have to perform a hard shut off (by holding the power button till it powers down) and wait a few minutes to turn it back on. I have uninstalled the wireless adapter and then reinstalled it and that didn't work either. Also, all the drivers are up to date. I am very frustrated at this point and don't know what to do. Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated !!

Thanks !!

It is always a VERY good idea to check the microfilters (if using ADSL) which are fitted into your phone sockets and make certain that you have microfilters in any socket in the house. Microfilters are very cheap to get hold of and its worth having a few spare.

Good Morning,

For the past few days, I've been having issues with my laptop. The other day I kept getting the message "Unidentified Network. No internet access" so I tried almost everything to fix it with no luck. Yesterday I instead got the message "There might be a problem with the wifi adapter?" I don't know if this is a good sign or something far worse.

Hopefully I can get this resolved. Especially with school and all. This has me really stressed out.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum.   Unfortunately, you can't just use any WiFi card in your Lenovo Z580. You have to use a card that has the Lenovo FRU stamped on it. Please see this thread. Read the whole thread. Please note:  Even if you get a new Intel WiFi card, the WiDi probably will not work. WiDi has to be pre-installed by the factory (Lenovo) for it to work.  Here is the HMM for the Z580: These are the Wireless cards it supports:  DragonRider

I bought my z41 ideapad in october. Thus far it has been working okay, until recently, when the wifi adapter started acting up - somehow it turns off or something so that when I go less than 20m from the router, there is either barely any signal, or it says there are no networks to connect to. However when I go through the troubleshooter, it resets the adapter and then finds the connection and connects to it, showing about 3-4 bars of signal. Every 5-10 minutes or so, though, the connection is canceled and it wants me to reconnect, even though automatic connection is enabled for the network.  Sometimes the troubleshooter  gives the "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings" error, but the proxy server thing is not even enabled on my laptop.  Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Answer:IdeaPad Z41 wifi adapter problem

Seems like a defective adapter or a driver is needed. Refer to this page to download the WiFi drivers. If that doesn't work, contact Lenovo support.

My Compaq Presario CQ60 419WM has a very minor issue. The problem is everytime I turn the computer off and back on, I have to manually turn on the wireless adapter by pressing the wireless adapter button right beside the power button. Not a very big problem but I'd like to make it that when I turn my computer on, it auto turns the wireless adapter on too. When the wireless adapter is on, the wireless button is blue and when its off its orange. When I turn it on , during start up, the light turns to blue but quickly back to orange and stays like that unless I turn it on myself. What can I do to fix this problem? My brother owns the same exact computer and his wireless button colour stays blue on startup and he does not require to turn it on everytime manually. Any solutions?

Forgot to mention , but the computer has Windows 7 home premium installed.

I have a a nintendo wifi adapter. For those of you who dont know what that is, its basically like a usb router that lets Nintendo DS & Wii connect to the internet without the need of an actual router. I pretty sure it uses windows ICS to supply the connection.

Now when I plug the device in via USB, my computer is unable to access the internet (same with the DS).

On a previous installation of Vista, the device worked flawlessly. Now it doesn't me anymore

Dynex Wireless G USB Network Adapter (DX-BUSB)

I just did a clean install of 7 RC 64 bit, no problem. I was running 32bit Vista (Home Premium & Ultimate), and 7 Build 6801 32 bit, and was using a Dynex Wireless G USB Network Adapter (DX-BUSB) with no problems. When I inserted the software disc that came with the adapter it said it was not supported with 64 bit Windows XP or Vista.

I was able to install the driver off the disk in Device Manager. Plugged in adapter, restarted, and the network I connect to shows up, and says Limited Access but in Network and Sharing Center it says I'm not connected, when I click the red X between my computer and the Internet It says there is a problem with the driver. Not sure what else to do.

I don't understand why It shows available networks and says limited access, but says I have a problem with driver. I also downloaded and installed the driver from their website, and it runs through the installation, but when asked to plug in adapter, it doesn't do anything.

Thank You in advance !

Firstly, sorry for my english.  Now, where´s the problem. I´ve bought two days ago a brand new Lenovo Z570 with pre-installed Win7HP. I do not like it, so I updated it to Proff. version. I installed all the drivers, and when I moved to other room in flat, I was/am not able to connect to internet. Wifi signal is excellent in every room, but the only place where I can connect to internet is my table where is also the router. There´s no problem in connectivity with other devices. My older NB Dell Inspiron 1520 with Broadcom wifi adapter has no problems with connection.  Yeah, and if I move in the same room where´s router too just for a 3 metres, I cannot connect to internet, but the signal is great.  I dont think the problem could be in router ´cause other devices (4 NB´s) are able to connect to the internet in every room. Where could be problem and what I have to do? Thanks for replies

Then I wonder if Lenovo 3000 N500 4233 series supports N network with the following network card Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN.When I linked up with Rauter with N, so I got a speed of about 65 Mbps, but far away from thespeed of 100-130 Mbit/s +.I have spoken to Lenovo and received a reply to update drivers on all that goes too uppdate and see if it works. If I do not find them at Lenovo, I would go to Intel and Microsoft homepage to see if there were any new drivers.Slowly and soil, I made it and found newer drivers for the network card but to no avail.I spoke with Lenovo again and got the answer that it could not do more because the card was 65 Mbps, which is certain to N working. In other words, nothing is broken can not be repaired, even if it onlyperforms 1/4 of what it should be!I was still unhappy, I could go back to the medamarkt and return the machine.I wonder how somone can say something like that when intel WiFi Link 5100 AGNshall work up to 300 Mbps while It can't get more then 65 Mbits/s.For if I have 65 then I am on N linkage because the G only goes up to 54 Mbit/s.The most strange is that not only was the serier of Lenovo 3000 N500, having problems with Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGNnot performing as it should. The answer I got was to either leave or wait until someone will solve the problem (Lenovo,Intel or Microsoft).Plus I have age machinery that works good in 130 Mbits/s without problems while a new can not?Strange thinking about this.So what do you do?Someone who knows ... My HP G-62-452SA notebook has developed a problem with its WiFi adapter since yesterday. No issues till then since I bought it a couple of years back.

The wireless connection started dropping or go into 'limited connectivity' mode. Disabling/enabling the adapter would restore the connectivity but it kept losing immediately after starting the browser (IE or Firefox). Whenever it lost connectivity, the problem was only local to the laptop as other devices in the house could access the internet without any trouble even when this laptop was saying 'No internet access' or 'No network access' or 'Limited connectivity'. There is no issue with the wired connection on this laptop.

Some sites suggested updating the driver which I did from HP's support site. However it was not successful and this caused problem in starting the device "RALINK RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter" - it gave error code(10) in the status/property box. I tried restoring the system to a previous date which helped making the device visible in device manager but the original issue remained.

At present, the WiFi adapter is not even visible in the device manager and the scan for new hardware is not detecting the WiFi adapter. So the situation is worse than what it was at the start!

My router is TP Link and currently I can access the internet through wired connection. I tried changing the IPV4(TCP/IP) configuration for the WiFi adapter as initially I th... Read more

When reading the reviews for my computer, which is this one iBUYPOWER Source Series NE654X Desktop PC AMD FX-Series FX-8320 (3.50GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8.1 64-Bit -, a lot of the reviews said that they had problems with the wifi adapter too and the internet worked after they downgraded to Windows 7. I thought that was the problem but looked into it more and some people on a different forum told me that it is not a problem with Windows 8 and it is a problem with the Wireless Adapter. I'm not too sure now, because the reviews said that the adapter worked well after the downgrade. I need some opinions and help because being on a slow internet connection is killing me. Hello Everyone.

I had installed an USB external WiFi adapter on my laptop and i think it's causes me BSOD problem.
I run BlueScreenView.exe and it shows me that files ndis.sys and nstoskrnl.exe are the problem.
I also had Eset-Smart Security but never had problem with that. BSOD started after installing the wifi adapter (TP-LINK driver TL-WN8200ND_V1).
I completely uninstalled the eset smart security and wifi driver with IObitUninstallerPortable (in safe mode) but still got BSOD when i try to start windows normally.
At Sytem Information (Components > Adapter) i still can see TP-Link as adapter and i believe that's is the problem.
Does anybody know hot to fix problem and erase this entry because i have lost my mind at last days.

Also here is the dump files that i made with SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe

This is Windows XP on an old Dell laptop. Just got new cable router modem and everything is fine except when I unplug USB adapter and plug in cable from modem I get strange message from bottom of screen. Message says
Is the problem with cable connection with modem or something else?

Answer:Cable connection problem from brighthouse. All ok with wifi usb adapter.

Ths topic can be closed as I found the problem myself. The bad url message is actually just a bogus line totaly meaningless as windows often use it, if it does not know what to do, I guess.
The real cause was that I used the computer on Verizon DSL. Then when I gave it to my friend Julie she connected it to her cable modem from Brighthouse. She could get online just fine with the USB adapter. it seems that with WIFI you can get oline with any Iternet provider, provided you have the security key. But with the cable I had to use the Windows Network Wizard to set up the computer to connect to the Brighthouse Network.

MY Laptop is a Hp Envy-17 3070nr over the past year or so, ive had problems with my internet, I dont know whether it is hardware or software, so I Just posted here. I keep getting the "no wirless connection" yellow triangle in the bottom corner constantly. In my network control center it says the computers connected to the router, but the router is not connected to the internet, which isnt true, because all my other devices work fine.

I used troubleshoot problems, and it resets my adapter, then say something like "cant connect to the proxy server" and something else about dns, but after a while it comes bakc again, sometimes it happens once a day, sometimes more, but it only ever happens on my home wifi.

Ive tried using the ipconfig on cmd prompt, updating drivers, messing with my network command center, but nothing seems to work. This is extremley disruptive in my life, ecspecially for a gamer, please help me.

Answer:My Computer has a Router/Adapter/Driver/Other WiFi Problem

What Windows version and service pack are you using?
What is the make and model of your router?

A few things off hand to check:
1. Have you scanned for malware on this laptop yet?
2. Have you plugged in a ethernet cable form the laptop to router to check connection hardwired?
3. You've done the update drivers route I would have taken as well.
4. When you run troubleshooting when it ends can you take a screenshot of the results or save to a text file and attach [How to attach files]
5. Do you have the HP wireless network/connection manager installed?
6. Have you added a proxy server to your connection, or DNS like opendns?

Just a bit weird with only happening at home, which could be a router setting, so I would make sure no other device is using your internet and reboot the router and on wifi sit next to the router and see how your connection works.

I have a Toshiba L15 S104 laptop and I recently did a fresh Windows XP installation on it. After the installation, i updated to SP2 and proceeded to install the drivers directly from the Toshiba website:

However, after installing the Intel(R) 802.11a/b/g,b/g Driver V10.5.1.59/V9.0.4.17 & PROSet V10.5.0.1(v10.5.1.59; 09-19-2006; 51.01M) driver,
and the Inprocomm Wireless LAN Driver for Windows XP(v3.03.11.2004 rc2; 03-29-2005; 3.05M) driver, I cannot get the WiFi working. I am very inexperienced with WiFi, but I am generally good working with computers.

When the computer starts up, I get an error message from the toolbar saying "Adapter Problem, Driver not found." When I double click on this message's icon, it bring up the Intel(R) PROset/Wireless Software program, and prompts me that "Intel(R) PROset/Wireless was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter."

Under the Device Manager, there are two listings for Network adapters: INPROCOMM IPN2220 Wireless LAN Card, and Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. Both say they are working properly.

The reason for a fresh XP install was because of a virus. It's a friend's laptop and it did not have anything important on the laptop so I figured I would just start from scratch with a format and reinstall. I found the drivers on the Toshiba website so I ... Read more

Answer:WiFi problem - network adapter not found (fresh XP installation)

You either have the Intel wifi card or the Inprocomm, not both. Since device manager says the Inprocomm is installed and working, uninstal the Intel wifi driver and reboot. If you are still having issues look for a physical switch on the laptop that turns the wifi on and off or a hot key, just as FN + F2.

Answer:Hey I have a WiFi adapter (Intel n 2200) problem on z580 windows 8 x64

hi aborida,
If this is the original Intel Wireless N2200 that came with the PC, can you try to:
1. Reboot the computer and repeatedly tap F2 to boot into the BIOS, when you're in, press F9 to load BIOS to defaults and press F10 to save and exti BIOS.
2. If you get the same error, try to Access the Startup Settings and choose Disable driver signature enforcement - if this fixes the problem, it's probably due to a not digitally signed driver, try to follow this guide.
If the above steps doesn't work, the BIOS might be blacklisting this wifi adapter as discussed in this thread or simply getting defective (you will need to contact lenovo for service to get this wifi card replaced).
Hope this helps.

Let me start by explaining what led to my problem.

I work for an electric utility, and we issue Panasonic Toughbook laptops to our linemen containing our mobile mapping and AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locating) software. They are all running Windows XP Professional SP3. Our AVL software requires an internet and VPN connection to our AVL server at the office (we currently use Verizon Air Cards and the Cisco VPN client to achieve this). Since implementing this, we have found that Cisco VPN and the Verizon Air Cards do not work well when the wifi network adapters are turned on (or enabled). When they are turned off (disabled) everything works nicely. We can't just disable the wifi NIC's and call it good either because our user's need the faster wifi connections to perform database syncs in the mornings (via hotspots inside each garage bay). Once they are all synced up and out of range of our wireless network, the wifi NIC's are no longer needed. Since the wifi NIC's and Air Cards don't get along, we have been having our users turn the NIC's off using a hardware switch on the Toughbooks cassis. However, some of our older models (CF-29's to be exact) do not have these hardware switches. Our solution was to create two batch files and place them on the users' desktops; one that turns the wifi NIC on, and one that turns it off.

This brings you up to my current problem...

Uhhg, im about ready to spontaneously combust, and if i was drinker, i probably would have already, considering alcohol would only fuel that process further. But here is the deal (ill start with problem #2 first, since thats more important for me right now).

I have an older pc that im trying to connect to another pc for LAN connectivity, etc. The older one is a Pentium 4, with XP-SP3 on it. The one i use for all my gaming and 'hardcore' stuff, is a Core2 E8400, with XP SP2 on it (didnt want to put XP3 on it, till im done seeing how things run on the other pc, and what apps will/wont work). For about 5 days, i tried connecting my Linksys WUSBF54G Wireless Adapter to the P4, only to be pounded with Code 10's Device Cannot Start until i put it into a different USB port for the 192nd time, and it suddenly decided to work . Of course, now i cant connect to my own router, but thats been going on for ages and i cant seem to fix it. I thought maybe it would suddenly work when i tried it now, but still no luck. It broadcasts fine, shows in the WZC Network Search section on the P4 w/ good signal strength, and i can connect to another unsecured network in my household just fine. I tried my own router with WPA2 encryption, and then without it, but still, it just says CONNECTING and then the window disappears (no error, nothing). Afterwards, when i look at the wireless network monitor in the taskbar, it says 54mb, NO SIGNAL, Wireless Network Connection (ACCESS POINT), but... Read more

I have an acer aspire 4530 using windows 7 and from a week ago Im having problems with the Atheros AR5B91 Wireles Network Adapter. It detects my network with an average signal, but when I try to connect, an error message is displayed saying that It was unable to connect. I tried almost everything: reinstalled the adapter, updated to the newest driver from:
I can connect to the network via ethernet cable; and also I have another laptop and it gets connected to the same network via wifi without problem. Im starting to think it could be a hardware issue, but it that were true I think the computer wouldnt detect the wireless adapter.
If someone could help me I would aprecciate it.

But recently, since last two weeks I noticed that my Wifi would stop blinking after sometime after I start my laptop and then it wouldn't work even when I try to turn on and turn off the Wifi switch(it doesn't respond anything). I tried searching the net for this issue using my office laptop and found that a system restore would help to solve this issue. Hi I recently purchased the U41 Series laptop, with i5 (5th Gen) ,4 GB Ram, 1 TB SSHD , 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE. It has an Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC3160 adapter. Now, I am facing a lot of issues due to this adapter. Firstly, the connection is very unstable. It drops out anytime, and speed also fluctuates a lot. Secondly, when I am in my room, all other devices, including a 5 year old Lenovo laptop can acccess a Wifi network, but the U41 fails to access and if it does, it frequently disconnects. Read online for a lot of solutions, it is faced by all the users of this adapter, but had no luck. Please look into this matter, and if necessary, call for a replacement of the wireless adapter. It would be good on Lenovo's part if it does so. It is really frustrating to buy a Notebook with such good configs & then facing such issues !!.

Hi there.
Over the weekend I picked up a set of TP Link WPA4220 Powerline (with Wifi) Extenders and a pair of TL PA-411 wired extenders.
This should give me wired extenders in 3 rooms and a wifi boost in one of those rooms. The wired system all works fine but the wifi is a different matter.
The wifi extender is paired to the same SSID as my main Sky router and I can see both devices working properly, however there is absolutely no performance improvement in the room(s) which previously had patchy wifi and now have the wifi extender in. It's like the extender is having no impact at all.
Wifi quality on my Galaxy Note 2 and wife's Iphone 4s have not improved with the addition of the wifi extender.
The internet on the xbox360 in my son's room was sketchy on wifi without the extender, and there was no improvement with the wifi extender switched on, so I have hardwired this now.
I tested the kit with some speed tests around the house via, using both wired and wireless on a laptop and wireless on my phone, and all speeds and pings are almost identical with the TP Link wifi extender switched on or off.
I then used an Android app called Wifi Analyzer which can see the main router and TP Link extender and reports on both.
The Sky router signal sits at -40db ("excellent") when next to it, dropping to -60 ("medium") when in the bedroom with patchy wifi (and the extender in it).
The TP Link wifi signal is sat at -60 (+/-3) all the time in the bedroom an... Read more

Answer:TP Link Powerline with Wifi - No Wifi performance boost...?

It sounds like you are still connecting to your router rather than the extender.
I have a range extender and the SSID is the same as the router but with _EXT tagged on the end so in order to connect a device to it I have to go into windows networking and attach to the extender otherwise it will automatically attach to the router as in the past but I guess you have already tried this.

I registered to forums to get help to solve wireless adapter issue I am having.

I have been looking for help in Lenovo forums and AV provider: problem is still on.

I changed AV software from Symantec to F-Secure. I uninstalled Symantec software and installed F-Secure software. Laptop is Lenovo T520.

What happened

First I recognized that ping commands caused Windows to crash. Then I uninstalled some VPN softwares and ping started to work. Operation did something to wireless and LAN connections, they did not work anymore.

LAN started to work by removing LAN drivers from device manager and reboot. After reboot Windows reinstalled LAN drivers and LAN was ok.

Wireless is a pain in there. I have tried almost everything. All Lenovo provided network softwares and power management tools are uninstalled and reinstalled together with wireless drivers. Wireless driver is not recognized by Windows.

None of automatic repairs or wifi uninstallation operations have corrected problem.

I collected some logs which might help, but now I do not know how to proceed. Windows reinstallation is something which I do not want to do.

hi ESlet,
Welcome to the Forums.
Can you try the following:
1. Set the power options to High Performance and uncheck the power saving mode of the wireless card under Device Manager > Network Adapters > Atheros AR956x wifi adapter (properties) > Power Management Tab (Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power).
2. If you're using the Atheros v10.0.0.274 driver from the H50-50 drivers page, can you try to downgrade it to v10.0.0.263 and observe.
Drivers for Atheros AR956x and Windows 8 (see v10.0.0.263)
3. Reset the winsock by typing netsh winsock reset on an elevated command prompt then restart the machine.
4. (Optional) If you're far away from the router (eg. 50 ft), try moving closer and observe if the connection gets stable.

Hello forum people,

I have the following problem on my Toshiba Satellite R850 running Win7 64bit: I decided to change the wireless adapter so I can connect to the 5GHz wifi network my router provides which wasnt possible on the Atheros wireless adapter it came with. I changed it to a Intel Wireless AC 3160- the physical change went quick and without problems and while the adapter is basically working now the problem I'm facing now is that the F8-hotkey function to de-/activate the Wifi and Bluetooth is no longer working. When I press the hotkey button all the different hotkey combinations show up on the upper part of the screen, but now there's only F1-F7 and F9, F8 just went missing. Does anyone have any idea how to get it back?

Thanks in advance and take care

Hey all.

I have foxfi and pdanet for my own personal use. Not too long ago they added a feature called wifi share that basically takes advantage of windows ability to turn your notebook into a wifi hotspot.
The main use case for this is using wired tethering from a mobile phone with unlimited data, and then using the notebooks ability to wifi share to get around the limitations of wifi tethering data caps through the mobile phone sans needing to pay more for the privilege.

I had a sandy bridge notebook from late 2011 where I could never get the feature to work right, got a newer and cheaper amd notebook to tide me over now when that one broke, and the feature works perfectly on this notebook. Incidentally, even though this is an amd notebook, the wifi adapter used inside is one of the newer intel wifi cards (7265).
Fast forward to today. I have a relative that has verizon but no home based internet for the moment. They had two lines and a mobile hotspot with capped data for just over 180, I had them cancel the hotspot and switch to unlimited. My intention was to hook one of their phones to their notebook directly and use foxfi/pdanet to provide internet, and then use the wifi share feature to create a network to hook up things like their smart tv.

Problem. It creates a network, but nothing can connect. Tried other smartphones, tried other tvs, it just stalls out with the connection.
I did the cmd prompt to check if there was support for a virtual network, there w... Read more

Hi, My laptop has a very weak wifi detection. Only when the wifi signal is very strong can it detect the wifi. I tried contacting HP regarding the same. They said it could be a loose connection with the wifi antenna. I have been waiting for the custumer service in my area to contact me(like HP promised!!!) for quite a long time now . Now I am in urgent need to get this fixed. I was wondering if an external wifi adapter would solve this issue. Mine is a Windows 10 laptop. Model no: ab030tx (pavilion). If an external adapter works, what would you suggest? (I am confused as a lot of products available in market only convert the laptop to a hotspot)

Dear Customer, In case if your laptop is under warranty, You may call  HP and will replace the Wireless card.Contact HP However you may still use the External WIFI USB Adapters, I would like to share a document which helps how to choose the required Adapters. After trying you may search the model of the adapter online with Amazon for price details. Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84I am not an HP Employee

Thank you in advancefor any help. I am senior who helps other seniors in this small townkeep their pc ?s operating as best I can.
I have an HP laptopthat was reworked by a shop sometime ago. I updated this pc to WinAnniveresary Issue and then this past Spring to version 1703.
Last week my seniorcalled and said they could no longer get wifi on this pc.

There is no icon for?Wifi.?
Under Device ManagerI find the drive for Ethernet and then 8 WAN Miniport Adapters(IKEV2, IP, IPv6, LZTP, Network Monitor, PPPQE, PPIP, SSTP). Whatthese are and what they all mean I don?t know but they all areworking.
I can plug my USBnetwork adapter into a USB port and can connect-see the wifi with noproblem.
I am trying to saveour senior $ by not having to buy another USB network adapter and getthis pc going on the pc?s wifi.
The F-12 Key has thewifi symbol on it and it is amber I have tried pressing fn + F-12,plus other key combos from Google to turn the wifi icon key blue, butno go so far. Pressing F-12 turns the Airplane mode on and off only.

Answer:WiFi Has Disappeared from Network Adapter in Device Manager-No WiFi

Do a search for the Wifi network adapter.

Then see if the have driver support for windows 10

It appears the driver was not carried over from prior OS or windows 10 does not support the wifi adapter driver

either way it appears the driver is missing or the adapter is not being found...
