usb ports non-responsive

Question: usb ports non-responsive

Got a Win XP SP3 Compaq desktop here, none of the USB ports are working. 4 are flagged with the yellow marker in Device manager. If I uninstall them then let Windows redetect it asks for the file 'seehcri.sys' which I cannot find anywhere.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Preferred Solution: usb ports non-responsive

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: usb ports non-responsive

You need to install the drivers for them.
To do this go on Compaq (hp's) website and go to the driver download section and enter the model of computer in and there should be a section on usb ports and there will the drivers that you need.

I have problem that just crept up, my rear usb ports are malfunctioning. when I plug my mouse in the light underneath it comes on, but the mouse is not operational. The keyboards numlock light doesn't even go on.

My front ports are working now, but this is greatly inconveniencing me because, my scanner, printer, and headphones were plugged into there and now I have access to neither.

This started as soon as I plugged my phone into the front usb port as I have done over a thousand times with multiple phones even of dubious origin with no such a result.

Please help.

My Satellite A660 Series Laptop is one month old and has been working fine until now. However, I powered on the machine and all three USB 2.0 Ports are non responsive. I've Shut-Down and Restarted the computer - no change.

In (Windows 7 - 16 Bit OS) Control Panel - Manage Devices - it says that all USB 2.0 Ports are recognised and working. In reality, NO device in any of the three (3) USB2.0 Ports are actually being recognised or working at all - there is no response. Interestingly, the one (1) eSATA/USB combo port is working and responding properly.

Can anyone help?

Should i just send it backto the shop? Yes it is still under warranty.

Answer:Satellite A660 - USB 2.0 ports are non responsive

> Should i just send it backto the shop?
No, I think it?s just a USB driver problem.

In your case I would reinstall the chipset driver from official Toshiba website. Even you have the newest version, try reinstalling it because it contains the USB drivers and maybe it?s something wrong with it.

After chipset driver installation test it again. If it doesn?t work remove all USB ports from device manager and restart your notebook. The USB ports will be reinstalled automatically.

What BIOS version you have installed?

Hello, Acer Travelemate P645M (win7 64bit) has had very unresponsive USB ports.  It can take up to 2-3 mins for any of the USB3 ports to recognise a device has been plugged in or removed.  Acer tech support's only suggestion was to restore to factory image and re verify the problem before they could do anything. Discovered the cause of the problem as Embassyservice.  Disabled this service from within msconfig and suddenly all USB ports function normally and with good reactive speed on plugging devices in and out.  Could not find what embassyservice related to other than possibly something to do with Wave technologies.  I think Wave has something to do with Acer Pro shield? Can anyone offer any advice on how to properly disable or uninstall Acer Pro Shield?  I can't uninstall it because I'm getting an error "Object EgisAuthShell.EgisAuthShell.1 is invald!"  Clicking OK then takes me to another ProShield window saying the feature you are trying use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Then error 1706, No valid source could be found for product proShield.  Now on a reboot I'm getting constantly prompted to install or uninstall pro shield without any source files. Where can I obtain the Acer Pro shield installation files so that I can re install and try to properly uninstall again?

Hey everyone.

So my PC began acting up and I have a feeling it started when I was looking for video editing software and came across a video editor called "softonicdownloader_for_Windows-live-movie-maker.exe" I'm sure it's a virus or something because problems with my PC began shortly after getting this.
I deleted and uninstalled what I could, went into safe mode and ran the latest updated version of malware bytes. It got 5 infected files that were deleted.

After doing so, I had little success. Here are still the issues with the PC

#1 Desktop and start menu programs won't respond. Can be clicked and the arrow with hourglass will show up, but with no response. Sometimes clicking on them will freeze and lock up. Sometimes they will, but it is only after several manual shut downs. If it does respond (such as clicking on internet explorer), upon closing out the program it will not respond again without a manual shut down.

#2 Boot up is a lot slower, will stay on "Loading your personal setting... Read more

Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to change the front two USB 2.0  ports with USB 3.0 ports. I'm pretty sure the H535 motherboard is already equipped with two unused USB 3.0 header attachments. I would like to know if anyone has done this or anyone knows how to do it? I's quite possible that the already-existing card reader, two USB.2.0 ports, headphone and mic jacks are all one unit attached to a circut board which would make my job a little more difficult.  Either way. Can it be done? To make it clear. I don't want to use a rear PCI card. I would like front USB 3.0 access without external wires coming from the back of the unit.  Lenvo's case design really doesn't allow for any expansion, unless you remove the plastic facia. For this reason, I would like to swap out the existing two USB 2.0 ports with USB 3.0 ports so I can re-attach the facia. Any advice what so ever would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Grazie

Welcome To Lenovo Community
The older GPS's and Navigation programs are written for the old "serial" RS232 ports which on the computer are known as "COM1 COM2 ETC." The only way to utilize an older GPS or Navigation program on the "new" computers which only have USB ports is to use a special cable or adaptor known as a "Serial to USB" cable/plug. Along with the cable you will receive a mini-CD disc with the driver that tells the new computer to treat the USB input via the cable as a virtual COM port. Most navigation programs are set up to search all available COM ports to find the GPS signal.  You can obtain these Serial to USB cables on the internet for a few dollars. After you obtain one put the little CD disk into your computer and follow the instructions. Some require the cable to be installed before the driver but most will install the driver and then when you computer "sees" the new device it will automatically activate the
One thing to remember is that whatever physical USB "hole" you put the GPS into needs to be the only place you plug in that GPS. Each physical USB port has a different computer "address" and plugging the GPS into a physically different USB port will require re-installing the driver and the re-installing the navigation program's access to the GPS. To avoid that choose a USB port that is not needed for essential other
equipment like printers, external mouse, etc. Read more

Hey all so I have forwarded some ports on my router with Airport Utility (NAT port forwarding), but using cmd netstat -n the ports I forwarded aren't listed and using online port checkers confirms they are closed. I added exceptions to my firewall (even though it is off), and windows defender is off, and Avast's shields are all off. I honestly have no idea how to open the ports up and haven't found a way to do this using Windows 8 (not pro).

Anybody have any ideas? It seems like Windows 8 is blocking these ports from opening for some reason. There doesn't seem to be an override function in cmd to open them, either.

In case you're wondering why I need the ports open, I'm trying to resolve a "request timeout" error when pinging somebody on Hamachi - so I'm trying to open the main ports Hamachi uses (I just want to play Terraria, man).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Ports closed; router forwarded ports, firewalls disabled?

Temporarily add your PC IP into the DMZ and try again , see if the internal/external tests then notice the ports open , this will test if it's a router or PC issue....

Don't forget to take it out of the DMZ after testing...

Hope you guys can help I have had this G580 for a while, so out of warranty.I have used a USB extension hub with its own external power supply. Everything was fine, until the moment that somehow this hub have damaged the ports. With the USB hub, the USBs work. But without it,  they do not.Flash drives don't work, external 2.5'' HDDs don't work. The only thing that can wor is a smartphone connected via USB cable - because it has its own supply as well (the battery)All drivers are fine. The OS is Windows 8.1 64bits. I suppose the problem is hardware....Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Igeorg,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I?m sorry to hear that the USB ports are not working as expected in your G580 Laptop. I suggest you to uninstall the Root HUB drivers and check the issue, below are the steps to perform the same:

To open device manager click on Winkey+R key together, type devmgmt.msc in the Run window and select OK.
Now under ?Universal Serial Bus Controllers? then right click on ?USB Root Hub? and select Un-install click OK.
Perform the same above step if there are more than one ?USB Root Hub? displayed.
Then restart and check the issue.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

In the limited few months our company has started to deploy T420 and T420s units we have had 2 reports of broken USB ports within the 1st month of use. Here are 2 pictures of one of the units: We have escalated this through our Lenovo contacts but in both instances they have basically said "Nope physical damage casued by the end user" This is worse than the T400 units becuase unlike those which would happen after a year or two of use, these have happened within the first weeks of ownership. I realize this is an expensive fix for Lenovo to make if this were to be taken care of under warranty but it's going to get even more expensive in the end when you treat some of your biggest clients as if they are nobody. It's going to get expensive when the average consumer sees these problems happening over and over. I'm trying not to be too critical but why can't Lenovo just admit to manufacturing defects and stand behind their product and services?

Answer:T420s broken USB ports (Repeat issue of the T400 USB ports)

I'm not sure if it's a manufacturing defect on this model. Haven't heard lots of reports.Maybe someone likes hamfisting their USB connectors?

My modem-router is in bridged mode (everything is disabled except internet), i have disabled windows firewall i have taken my firewall offline (until this issue is resolved) but still no one can access my server (they can't even join a game if i create a server)

if i go to port checker it says connection refused on all ports except port 80? how do i force open the ports?

i called my ISP and they say they should be open and there not blocking any ports.

I have a static ip address, 24Mbit up 2.5Mbit down.

when i run my filesharing program (for sharing files between my and my clients) and they try to download a file from me it says it will take (99years, 99days, 99 hours) now i don't really have that long to wait

edit: and yes my network properties are configured manually (and not on auto detect) i have no problem accessing the internet myself

Answer:Opening ports, i have the firewall disabled but ports are still blocked

It would be better to open the ports in the running firewall than to turn it off. Firewalls load drivers, running or not. Many firewalls block everything by default when they are turned off so that the machine is protected during boot.

You may need to uninstall some firewalls to get them to open all ports.

Running latest BIOS and latest drivers downloaded directly from manufacturer's website.

If I plug the drive in the rear ports it detects right away leading me to suspect the case's ports might be defective but I don't have another USB 2.0 card lying around to confirm.

Based on this info does it seem likely that the front ports themselves are faulty?

Answer:Front USB ports not working, but rear USB ports work…

You might check to see if the case end of the USB cables are properly plugged into the front panel holding the headers. Some board need more than one brand of USB drivers, Renesas, NEC, etc.

Installed and used an uninstaller to clean out some old files and apparently removed some important .dlls. Some programs were affected by the removal of the .dlls including MS Office and internet browsers, and I noticed some strange things on the home network on other PCs. Some pages weren't loading flash portions of internet pages. I suspect that the router drivers were somehow compromised, but that problem seems to be under control for now. I reinstalled flash player and shockwave, and I am mostly confident that the browser problems are resolved.

Ran the repair utility on the XP installation disk on the affected machine, and for the most part the original problems seem to have disappeared. MS Office functionality has returned with the flash reinstall and with the XP reinstall. I have reinstalled some drivers including the graphics and monitor drivers, so graphics are good. However, a whole new crop of problems have appeared since the repair installation.

The affected computer is an HP DC7700 small form factor with 6 USB ports on the back and 2 on the front. Additionally, there are also a microphone jack and a headphone jack on the front. The 2 USB ports and the mic and headphone jack on the front both have lost functionality. I use the usb ports frequently with cameras and other small utilities and the mic and headphone jack for voice to text. Pretty important to me to restore functionality of the devices. This is the worst of the problems for now, but I have been ex... Read more

So I'm sure this isnt' where this goes honestly but putting it out there just to try to help anybody else who struggled with this as long as I did... I ended up getting my two USB ports on the left side (turned out to be my 3.0 ports) to work again when they wouldn't recognize anything. I could use the 2 USB on the right 2.0 ports, but the transfer rate was terrible.  My response on another question where someone had a similar issue... good luck!  "Hi  Not sure if this will help you but I had the same problem, the two left ports were not working on my Dv7. Hello all,

I recently upgraded to verizon FIOS and got a new actiontec router model: M424-WR Rev. D. WIndows firewall was disabled when I did this.

I will walk you through the port forwarding process with pictures:

This just shows that the IPv4 address I am using is mine, I did nothing more than check it

so can someone help me figure out what I did wrong? I am trying to open up a port to no avail.. thanks in advance

if you need any additional info, please let me know.

Answer:Forwarding ports, but ports are not show as open?

Try going to GRC and use Shields Up. See if that shows the ports as open. Also did you open the ports in the Windows Firewall or what ever firewall you have on? It could be getting stopped there.

I have an E430 with no other problems.  Model 3254-CTO.  16 GB.  All critical updates, latest bios.Recently, when attempting to use my external WD usb 3.0 hard drive, I see the following notification: This usb mass storage device can transfer information faster if you connect it toa super-speed USB 3.0 port. I verifed with USB Tree View (latest version), that the connection made to the external drive is high speed, not super-speed.  There are no warnings shown on any of the usb controllers in Device Manager.  Tested with all 3.0 ports, tried another cable.  On a couple of occasions, after a reboot, I was able to get it to connect as a 3.0 device, now can't achieve that at all.  I updated the bios to the latest version, and also reinstalled the Lenovo USB 3.0 drivers for this model.  No dice.  One suggestion I saw for Lenovo desktop USB issues was to remove all usb controllers and have them get reinstalled automatically, is this recommended for notebooks like E430?  Any other suggestions?  I am assuming that hardware degradation may be an issue.

i'm currently learning about switch configuration on Cisco switches (the 3524 XL specifically). i have been using VLANs lately, and i came across multi-vlan ports. every cisco document i can find online says you can't have a multi-vlan port and a trunk port configured on the same switch, but none of them specify WHY.

is it because of the encapsulation on the trunk traffic, or something else completely? i can't seem to wrap my head around it.

thanks for any help you can give in making me understand this

Answer:why not Multi-Vlan ports and trunk ports?

As far as I know on those lower-end switches (even my 3650s) you can't configure multiple VLANs on a port unless you make it a trunk port. There simply isn't a command for it. On the higher end ones there is. I had this problem when I configured multiple SSIDs on my Cisco APs. I was having trouble getting DHCP to assigning addresses. My only fix was making the APs port a trunk port (for passing other VLANs traffic over it).

Question: IE Not Responsive

I hope I am posting in the right place. My Windows 7 pc has been acting up for quite a while. I am not sure if it's an ISP issue or just my pc. When I am running IE or Firefox or Chrome, my websites become non-responsive. Or I will click on a link and nothing happens. It is very "jumpy" meaning pages seem to lock and then switch to new pages after some time has passed. I get the message box pop-up saying that IE is uisng so much RAM and it is usually over 250 MB. I am not sure if it's a hardware issue or internet issue. I did a speedtest and came back over 4 mbps. My issues seem to get worse by the evening. I don't have many issues when using software...just internet websites.

Windows GDI update for 2k3. My IIS 6.0 server just started getting flaky on me. Only one website - all ISAPI shutdown - only .asp extensions allowed. URLScan 2.5 installed.

No notice in the logs - just an unresponsive IIS 6.0 server. Doesn't appear crashed, and no insane processes - i.e. no hogs. However, it just goes down - and I have to restart IIS 6.0 to get it running again.

Nothing has changed- except for a patch from microsoft a few days ago that was a "GDI update". Anyone else seeing IIS 6.0 flakyness in the last 2 days?

I thought it might be a DOS or something - but wouldn't a syn attack shut down all my interfaces? Or just the interface in question? What kind of logs would I look for to see some kind of attack? I have Scan Alert which scans my server and reports 0 vulnerabilities. So - at least I have taken care of some of the obvious attacks.

anyone have thoughts for debugging or unravelling this issue?

Question: XP non responsive

Earlier today I installed Outpost Free Internet Security, it crashed my network connection so I uninstalled it, then had to perform system restore. Then I opened MS Outlook and PC turned itself off immediately and restarted. Message came up that Windows had recovered from a serious error.
Came on tonight no programs would open, i have put Xp disk in to try and fix and it seems okay(ish).
Other anomaly is that i keep getting message " this computer has undergone significant hardware changes since Xp installed and XP needs reactivation within 3 days. I have had to do this on average once a month including today.
I rang Microsoft to activate over the phone and spoke to a real, very helpful person who also found it strange that it keeps asking to reactivate.

Anyway I have attached the logs from event log, dont know where else to look for errors. Please if you can help i would appreciate it as I am pulling my hair out.

Answer:XP non responsive

i have put Xp disk in to try and fix and it seems okay(ish)

What is Okay(ish) really mean? does the computer work properly, and do all of your programs work? You do not have to include all of the logs. Just instances with a red X the yellow warnings don't mean that much, and the logs are too long to read through.
You can do some maintenance. Go to Start/Run and type chkdksk C: /R and press enter. Then press a Y for Yes and then restart the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup to fix any file errors. You can also go to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow and press enter. Put the XP CD in and it will replace any missing files from the CD. If you don't have a current Anti-Virus Software, download the free Microsoft Security Essentials (do not have more then one AV software program on your computer at a time) and do a full scan. Also go to Start/Run and type dfrg.msc and press enter, highlight the C: drive and press Defrag Now.

First, turn off the caps lock key, unless it is broken too. That is considered rude.To get any meaningful help you need to give some information about the system, how old it is, when the problem started, other problems with it, what happened unusual right before it.So info on the computer including the make and model number and the power supply, including maker and wattage (it's on the side of the power supply inside the case).See below. I have a boot disk which lets me get to recovery however, system restore does not work as there is only one restore point so I am screwed. I do not have an image to restore to either. Any suggestions?

Question: XP Non Responsive

Ok my brothers PC is having some issues. It will load into XP and all the desktop icons will pop up but you just cant click on anything. I am not sure if it is supported by the forum but I used the latest Hiren's Boot CD 9.9 to boot into mini xp ran spybot search and destroy and kapersky - came back with nothing. Also tried other programs but no others seem to work. Anyone know anything about this and the PC problem? Thanks

Answer:XP Non Responsive

Try booting into Safe Mode. If that works, you can try running MalwareBytes and SpyBot Search & Destroy from there.

If it doesn't, try booting from the XP CD and performing a Repair.

He keeps getting the dr watson postmortem debugger message and I have turned this off in the registry by changing the Aeopen value to 0 from 1.I have instaled most of the recommended fixes from a previous thread and run sfc /scannow.Over 1500 objects were detected by a-squared and I've not been able to run a AVG virus scan yet as the main problem is that now I'm getting an Explorer error (explorer.exe - application error)and cant open any explorer window or control panel in normal boot, but I can in safe mode. The pc is running windows xp sp2.Your suggestions would be most appreciated please.

Question: Non-responsive HDD

(I'm sending this from wife's laptop so TSG Sysinfo not much use!)
System: 'Advent' tower PC, Intel Core i7 3440 3.4Ghz Quad Core CPU; 12Gb RAM (DDR3); 2Tb HDD (Seagate)(SATA), using Windows 7.

Sequence of events:
1 Attempted to reboot PC following a minor update but PSU did not power up - it wasn't a particularly quite unit so silence pointed to a PSU fault. On removing the cover, the CPU cooling fan was not operating either, confirming no power.

2 The OEM PSU (CWT GPA450P) was not easily replaceable. Having had to replace PSUs in earlier PCs, I opted for a Corsair CX500M. At this point, I committed the cardinal sin of not practising what I used to preach before I retired - having replaced PSUs before, I did not think I needed to RTFM! Having removed the faulty PSU, I unpacked the replacement and fitted the black box in position before noticing that there were some significant differences between the OEM PSU's 'open' cable loom and the Corsair's sleeved loom. One of these difference was that instead of the 'old fashion' direct cable links to the SATA devices, there was a variety of alternative modular connectors. Had I read the Manual, of course, I would have seen that these plug into the PSU via black sockets on the face of the black CPU box but at this point, they were now hidden in the dark depths between the PSU and the back end of the DVD drive housing. Instead, I looked around for a connector that fitted a 4-pin ... Read more

Answer:Non-responsive HDD

Hello, unfortunately there is a very good chance that the HDD was damaged by the psu incident. The easy way to determine that would be to remove the hdd and then hold it while the pc is turned on. You should be able to hear and feel the platters spinning. After that, just to make sure, you can use a sata to usb adapter and plug it in to a different computer and see if it detects it.

I recently was given some extra RAM by a friend. I wasn't sure if it was the correct size for my PC, so I removed the RAM to check. It indeed was the wrong size, so I replaced the RAM and tossed the extra RAM given to me. I'm sure that the RAM stick was placed back into the computer the right way and is fastened down tightly. When I reconnected everything, the computer turned on fine. But it didn't seem to be recognizing the monitor. Nothing was coming up on the screen and instead of the power light being green, it was orange. So, I checked all my connections and tried again. It still wouldn't do anything. So, I checked all the internal connections as well. I hooked a different monitor up and got the same result. At the moment, my situation is the same. Both power lights on the tower and the monitor are orange instead of green. The computer won't respond to any key commands, nor will it even try to initiate opening Windows XP.Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong? Could I have damaged the RAM when removing it? Any help or ideas would be amazing. I have no idea where to start or what to do. I've got a lot of work saved on my computer that I really can't stand to lose. -Thanks

Answer:Non-responsive programs

Lets see what you have running, as you may have some background things running causing this problem.

Lets take a look at a log. go to , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

I have a computer running XP SP2 + all updates to date, for a few months now when you go to press the start button the system can take upto 30-60 seconds to respond, once it does your right for another few minutes then stop's responding for another 30-60 seconds and keeps repeating this cycle. I have checked all running processors and there doesn't seem to be anything there that should be.

My initial thinking is that it's trying to check something which holds the system up regular???? Anyone else have this or seen this problem???

Thanks in advance!!

Hi i've encountered an issue which I can't solve by myself.

My PC has been incredibly stable up until today - booting suddenly takes forever, explorer takes ages while loading icons on my desktop, trying to use right mouse button or open folders results in complete hang of the system. If i wait long enough until all desktop icons are loaded, i can even open browser and some folders but eventually explorer or PC hangs anyway, not to mention that everything is working sluggish.

I can open the task manager and check resource usage, also AIDA actually load successfully and according to them - there is no increase in CPU or RAM loads.

I've tried running Eset online scanner and I've checked my system disk with Avast! - they didn't find anything. I've used hijackthis but found no suspicious entries. I've also used combofix but it found only some harmless .dlls none of which were unknown to me.

I am able to load Vista in safemode without non essential programs but the issue exists even there, despite slightly faster booting and icon loading times.

Unfortunately I cannot use system restore and even though I do have complete pc archive - so far I wasn't able to use it, since it's not available in safemode and during normal boot my PC usually hangs before I am able to get to control panel.

At this point I've exhausted all known options and solutions and would welcome any help or suggestions whatsoever. Could it be sudden hardware issue? If so - what could be respons... Read more

This may be a double post, but I can't find my original posting.  My x230 is approximately 30 days past warranty (Windows 7 Pro).  Overnight it has become non-responsive. I have tried with and without battery, two different power supplies. I have tried, multiple times, holding the power button down to "discharge"?  No lights showing, no response to any buttons being pushed.  Within the last week I accepted Lenovo's prompting to update various files, including BIOS.  My recollection it has been re-booted at least once since the Lenovo system updates.  For what it is worth, I have always had the touchpad "turned off" via the software.  Any help, thoughts, or insight would be appreciated.

Answer:X230 non responsive

Make sure that you hold the power button down for a minute without the battery in! Otherwise its a motherboard issue and you might need to buy a new one

Hello guys.

My first post on here.

I have a real problem with my laptop. It started playing up a few weeks ago, and would freeze after clicking to open a picture.. The egg timer would come up but it wouldnt open the picture.. After tapping the touchpad a few times, the message would appear "not responding" I then would have to clixk the red x and it would then bring up another box saying do you wish to end this not responding program..I click end now and it would then shut down internet explorer.. Doing this and starting again seemed to work, but it started to get more frequent.

Ive now got problems trying to sell things on ebay. The program freezes on the add picture page on every attempt.

Ive used my symntec antivirus and that says things are all ok.. Ive bought this registry cure thingy and that hasnt helped either.. Its now doing my head in.. Any ideas?

Ive tried scandisk, defrag.. but still to no avail, and the computer is defo slower than it used to be..

Im not the most intelligent pc lad.. so be gentle...

I'm a tech at a huge dealership. Some, not all, of our pcs have an issue with IE running really slow and some times not responsive at all. The thing is, all other programs wether it be firefox or some kind of messanger are not affected at all. I originally thought maybe it was some kind of connection issue, but after having both AT&T and the communications company that originally setup our connection come out and verify there is nothing wrong, I'm stuck searching for answers. I know it's not the "temp" or "offline" files as we delete and refresh the pc's all the time.

I'm really at a dead end here and I'm praying some of you guys and girls can help a brother out!

If you have any ideas and need to contact me asap, please feel free to pm me for my cell phone.

However, that accomplishes nothing, regardless of whether I click with the left or right mouse button. There are no url's, (?) to copy or select, nor could I find anything else to select or cue to open the sub category.

My computer is Non-Responive more then it is working.  If my memory is correct, I went into the Bios et. al. and set all to maximum performance years ago, as I am a firm believer of keeping the computer COOL!.  I am **bleep** retentive in using cans of compressed CO2 to blow out the computer.  In reading I find that if the Cooling fan is part of the problem that I should get a warning that the fan has failed to perform to spec's.  But my interpretations of this gives me the impression that this is tied to the Intel processor, and not looking at the AMD Radeon GPU 6770M.  As a side note I have also been uninstalling programs at the same time. At first I thought I had a failing CPU, and or a clogged Heat Sink.  In looking into the replacement of a CPU Fan, which I mentioned earlier I should have gotten a warning from the Bios that the fan was failing, I found it was the same cost to buy a new fan as it was to buy a Heat Sink with a new fan.  Once I realized what the Heat Sink looked like, I got to thinking the GPU may be the actual problem of the computer becoming unresponsive, which is why I started wondering if I should replace both the Heat Sink and the AMD GPU. Does anyone have any suggestions, advice other then to throw the computer away.  I would rather to spend some monies and at the same time upgrade the computer to higher spec's CPU and GPU and get another year or two out of the computer as this computer ... I have a system that when you log-off of a user to get back into the start screen to log in as another user, the keyboard is non-responsive but the mouse works. You have to restart to get the keyboard working again.
I am logging out of a limited rights account into an administrator account

Does anyone have any thoughts as to how to fix this bug.

Almost sounds like the drivers for the keyboard are not on the other user's account. Be sure that it isn't some software that was set to -only- the administrative account. I have An ECS K7S5A Pro mother board with a keyboard that won't respond. This is one of the stangest issues I have have ever come across dealing with keyboards. When the computer boots it will boot into Windows XP and the keyboard will not respond but the mouse responds and device manager shows no keyboard listed and no conflicts. Then when you reboot the computer and try to access the bios the the key board still won't respond and the computer boots into Windows as before. No "no keyboard" errors are posted on boot up. I have tried all of the standard trouble shooting techniques (trying different keyboards switching cables etc...). Is the anybody that has come across a systoms like this? I am reluctant to condem this MB because I don't know for sure whats wrong Thanks Scott

Answer:Non responsive Key board

Is the keyboard standard PS/2 or the USB kind ( too lazy to check on the specs of the board).
But let's assume that the keyboard is the PS/2 kind. If you tried the usual "song and swap" and still no response, then it's the board chip that is messing up. I would give it a last shot, but looking on the mobo and trying to clear up the CMOS if you haven't tried it yet.

It is running on (freshly updated) Windows 10, and is only 5 months old. The Issue: Several days ago my touch screen stopped responding - at first it was intermittent on-and-off. As of recent it has not been functioning period. Everything else works fine on the laptop, and there are no damages or cracks in the screen. Steps I have taken to resolved the issue (all have failed):I cleaned off the screen with a screen-wipe I restarted my laptopI restored the laptop to factory settingsI received chat support and then remote support from HP (didn't do anything)I spent over an hour on the phone with HP support (wasted time)And of course, I have done plenty of research on the internet. Conclusions that may aid a solution. After spending a ton of time trying to fix this, I know what the problem is not. In Device Manager there are only two drivers listed under Human Interface Devices (HID- compliant wireless radio controls & HP Wireless Button Drive). Its almost like the touch screen driver... doesn't even exist. As a side note, while the touchscreen was working, There were several more drivers listed under the HID section... its almost like they dissapeared. On the HP site, there are drivers that you can download, but the HID drivers that I need are not listedThe touch HID drivers are not ... I bought a MS Wireless Optical Mouse some time ago. The installation was not a problem, however I have a very strange problem in that for no apparent reason sometimes the mouse will have no or very delayed responsiveness to clicks and scrolls.

This is very annoying and when I use the spirit of the irritation built up to press the button harder this will most often on 3rd or 4th occasion get the mouse in action. After a while it the non responsiveness stops (10 minutes to one hour) and the mouse will work fine again. It is not normally a problem on start up.

I have changed batteries, reset the mouse "receiver", installed more RAM (now have 512 MB) and nothing has helped.

Can anyone out there please help me as this is very frustrating.

Finally, if I use the keyboard (when possible) there is no delay, only when using the mouse (so if I cannot scroll with the mouse there is no problem using the arrows up and done for example)...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! Will be much appreciated.

Answer:On and off non responsive mouse

FWIW, I just had a similar issue with my Logitech cordless optical mouse. I finally took it apart and it has several really huge dust bunnies blocking the scrolling wheel. Cleaned it out, and all is well.

Hey guys, what's up? So whether it's Windows 7 or Windows 10, my PC will just lock up for about 5-7 minutes, then be perfectly normal again. The apps hang, but I can move my mouse. I've formatted and reinstalled a couple times, but sooner or later it starts happening again. Also, this happens whether Windows is installed on SSD or SATA......sounds like hardware or drivers.Event viewer is showing a Service Control Manager:The Microsoft Passport Container service terminated with the following error: General access denied error-------------andstorahciReset to device, \Device\RaidPort1, was issued.I've been dealing with this for about a year now.I've attached my DxDiagAny advice would be appreciated.

So whether it's Windows 7 or Windows 10, my PC will just lock up for about 5-7 minutes,That detail could imply a hardware problem.Do you have a spare PSU?What kind of test tools do  you have?Do you have another PC that is very reliable?Do you have a method for backup of your important personal files? If not, make backup plan. Diagnostics can be intrusive and ruin data. So take care to put you important personal stuff somewhere else. Here are the general rules for DIY testing.? Reduce the power load on the system. Go to just one or two sticks of RAM .? Remove the graphics card and only use the build-in graphics.? Unplug your DVD drive.? Use a OS that does not require a hard drive. See how long it runs .? Use f Memtest86 from a USB.  Do long test.? Use some tool to get temperatures from on board sensors .? Try  a hard drive test from USB. Run the intensive tests. Okay, I've Googled this and tried a couple of websites looking for an answer, but so far no luck. At times, for no appartent cause, everything in my taskbar will suddenly become completely non-responsive. I can click away all I want on "Start", on quick launch items, on minimized programs, on icons in the system tray ... nothing, nada, zilch. When I go into the control panel and click on "Taskbar & Start Menu", the same ... no response. It just sits there in sullen indifference (that last bit is peotic licence). The only cure is a reboot.
Can anyone shed some light?

I used to be able to push it rather gentle with my finger but not I have to use a pen or other sharp object to press and hold. Im not sure if pushing harder helps or I just need to push in the right spot but i dont feel that i should have to use a piinted object just to get it on.

For the past week or so, I have had problems with a computer, and browsers and webpages becoming slow or giving error messages. Trying Microsoft Fix-It the whole system froze. Tried to do an XP repair with nil results, so did a full format. All seemed well until I tried to do updates,Avast Ok, connection to internet Ok, then on reboot, goes as far as the XP motif and then shutdown, with repeating events.
Trying now to boot with the original XP disk, so as to try a repair or reformat, and the computer will not boot from disk. Previously the computer use to ask 'Boot from disk-None' and went into start mode. Now no message.
I hope that I have explained okay. Any help would be appreciated, so as to get the computer working again..

I have a problem that I've not had before.  My desktop monitor shows the screen that it would show if I had pressed the monitor button that controls the brightness, width, height, etc. of the screen.  The desktop computer will not respond to ANYTHING, including keyboard, mouse, ctrl-alt-delete, etc.  I turned the computer off and re-started it, and still no change.  I turned off the power strip, waited a few minutes, turned everything back on, and still no change.  The only thing working is my internet connection, and I know this because I can use the laptops in the house with the wireless card.  At this point, I can't use the desktop computer or the printer.  Any ideas?

Question: Responsive slow

I have a custom built desktop. It is Windows XP Professional SP3, Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHZ, 2GB DDR-400. My computer is pretty slow, it takes time to do stuff such as trying to choose a file to burn etc. I usually have to give it 1 minute or more so it can load. I have tried to do a full scan using DrWeb but after a minute of scanning it just randomly freezes, which i have to restart it. So i can't find out if there are other viruses on it. I've tried using sfc /scannow but it keeps saying to insert the XP disc which i did. Other people had told to copy the I386 folder to C: drive and change the registry to run from there but that didn't work. Can someone please help me, this may have a lot issues?

As in the heading of my PC keeps freezing and is Non-responsive. I have just formatted the HDD and reinstalled WinXP.

It takes forever to open some pages and I have 1gb of ram. My HDD is 120gb and the motherboard is 3.0ghz.

I have a LG DVD burner which is another problem.......and a Nvidia video card

Major software installed is

Win XP home edition with SP2
Bullguard Anti virus
Opera internet browser
PC on point registery fixer
Assorted Popcap games
Microsoft Office for XP
123 copy dvd

I only know the basics about PC's but I thought that my PC should be a lot faster than it is. I have downloaded all updated drivers for everything.

I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction to fix whatever problem my PC has.

When it becomes unresponsive and I manage to get the task manager CPU usage is only about 5%

Answer:Freezing and Non-Responsive PC

It might be that registry fixer you got there. I remember at one point i had one and after i ran it, my computer would let me logon, but after a few mins it would restart, and i couldnt get it to stop, until i reformated. So you might try re-format again and dont install or run that registry fixer. If that don't fix it try hitting it with a hammer :knock: !!

Best of Luck.

Now don't get me wrong here. I like Emsisoft and how it operates. But lately I've been playing my usual games from Steam and from some of my online games like Mortal Online and Elsword, when Emsisoft suddenly steps in saying they're giving off suspicious behaviour.
This has gotten my interest piqued as to why Emsisoft would react to my games like this, especially my Steam games. I recently got Planetside 2 and during play Emsisoft came up with 2-3 reactions.
Is this to be expected of Emsisoft? or would this be a cause for concern?

Answer:Emsisoft being a tad too responsive?

Hi IllusionEclipse,If these games are official Steam games then I'd tend to say that these are false-positives. Any change you can upload the flagged file(s) to and post a link to the scan results here? I can then have a closer look at this.

Last night I was showing a young child my FSX, and all the things that you could do with it. Somehow he started playing with the keyboard and the next time I opened up FSX the joystick movements were not responding in the aircraft. I checked it out by using FS 2004, and no problem, it worked fine, so the connection wasn't the problem. I think it must have been due to the kid playing on the keyboard which made the jostick unresponsive when using FSX. Can you help please.

Answer:FSX - non responsive joystick

this happens to me alot using my flight stick and xbox360 controller. when you start up fsx keep your flight stick unplug till you get passed the loading screen. pause your fsx plug in the flight stick and wait for a minute for the computer to load it in now go to your controller and see if it is active you might have to select it rather then the mouse for controlles. also add if you have fsuipc. cause it could be the problem as well always good idea to add it when asking for assistance. because it has speacail key and joystick assignments as well

My pc has lately as expected gone very slow and not as responsive.
At the start-up especially. I have to wait a good 2mins before touching anything or things start to 'Not respond' and such.

I was wondering if you guys could recommend me ANYTHING that I could do to speed up my pc significantly.
Exclude, formatting my pc / buying new parts.

Thanks for your time.

Answer:Slow/Not responsive

First verify you're defragging your drive regularly. Vista is normally set to do this automatically so I doubt fragmentation has anything to do with it, but you should check to make sure.

Second, run antivirus. Sometimes a virus can slow a PC down. Again, I doubt this has anything to do with a slow PC, but it might.

Third, check your startup programs. If your PC is running slow at startup in particular, one real possibility is that you have a bloated number of programs and services starting up. Go through the list in msconfig and see if there's anything you can disable. Also use the Services console for the same thing.

Post PC specs. You might be low on resources.

my power strip that i have my computer, printer, etc hooked up to is located under my desk, where your feet are. the other day i accidentally hit the plug for the power supply to the computer and the comp turned off, so i restarted it.

my printer doesn't work any more after the comp came back on, everything else was fine (the printer is a HP officejet 4110). and by doesn't work, i mean that there is nothing showing on the printer's screen, and the little green light that is normally green now flashes green for a few seconds and then starts flashing orange/red very very quickly. when you turn off the printer, the computer says "found new hardware". so i put the installation disc in my cd drive and tried to reinstall the software, and it says the software couldn't be installed because it can't find the right software. i then make sure it's searching my D drive (cd drive) where i put the printer's software installation cd into, and it still says it can't find it.

what should i do? i am running win xp service pack 2 BTW

Answer:Non-responsive printer...

i looked closer to what disc the computer is looking for to install and it says REFLASH. i dont have a disc for that, does anyone here have it or know where to get it?

Alright so after a bad download, my laptop got infected and I did the removal using Avast and Malwarebytes anti-malware. It's good now but here's the thing. You see my laptop is a good laptop for gaming and such, so I can handle games especially the ones I have been playing, but the thing is whenever I launch a game such as league of legends or Planetside 2 or anything, the whole client (game) goes "not responding" and then "responding" in less than a second and it keeps alternating for 5-10 seconds and I cant type or do anything, its like tabbing in and out really quickly and Idk waht to do because this never happened before. Im happy to provide any info that is required. My operating system is also Windows 10. The name of the laptop is Lenovo y-40

The keyboard on my ideapad U530 is not as responsive as I would like for it to be.  I have to hit the keys quite hard, which of course slows down my speed and affects the accuracy of my input.    Is there a way to change the amount of pressure that I need to use on the keyboard?

Answer:keyboard is not very responsive

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
There is no setting that I am aware of in Windows or the system BIOS to adjust the keyboard sensitivity on your model.  Is it certain keys or is the whole keyboard like this ?  Was it always like this or is the problem getting worse ?  If the keyboard was always like this even when the laptop was new, it could just be the way this keyboard responds to key presses.

OK, I booted up my computer and then left it for several hours, working on it from my laptop with remote desktop. When I came back to it(never left the house) it was off. I said to myself, thats weird and tried to boot it up and nothing happens except when I flip the switch back and forth on the ps, I get a brief light to flicker next the power button. The lights are all on on the mobo, it just won't boot. I can't get any fans to turn on, no sounds at all.

What do you think my problem is???

Answer:Computer non responsive

Sounds like the power supply might be shot. Incidently flicking it on an off can cause surges which may cause more damage.
