Cannot Setup Office 2007 Professional

Question: Cannot Setup Office 2007 Professional

Have been running office small business edition 2003 and wanted to update to 2007. Downloaded trial version of Office 2007 but it crashed before it finished setting up. So I bought the Office Professional 2007 CD's but it crashes upon setup. Can you help?

Preferred Solution: Cannot Setup Office 2007 Professional

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Cannot Setup Office 2007 Professional

Couple of questions to ask
1. Are you installing as Administrator or an account that has admin rights?
2. Have you uninstalled Office 2003 or are you just doing an upgrade?
3. Do you have antivirus installed (yeah dumb question I guess) If so, have you disabled it before attempting to install?

I've just put Windows 7 on laptop and tried reinstalling student version of Office Professional Plus 2007 (which was on there before but with Vista). It gets nearly halfway through installation before it says that it can't find setup.exe and asks me to browse folders to find where it is. I've tried looking but can't find it and so have to abort process.
Can anyone help?

Answer:Can't install Office Professional Plus 2007 - setup.exe error

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Was this a pre-installed version of Microsoft Office or do you have a DVD for it?

If it is a DVD you could try creating a new folder on your hard drive and copy the contents of the DVD to it, and then try to install it from there.

If it was pre-installed and you've installed Windows 7 instead of Vista the Office files may be missing or corrupted.

Was it a clean install of Windows 7 or an upgrade?

Have you checked to see if you have a Windows.old folder? If you have take a look in it and see what files are in there from your Vista installation.

I have a problem installing MS Office Professional 2007.

Here are the details:
1. HP dv4-4141us laptop computer

3. I bought and downloaded Microsoft Office Professional 2007. Includes Access, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher, Word --- all 2007 versions

Good Evening Everyone,

I have a few questions concerning the Installation of 2010 Office. I know that I have to uninstall Office 2007. I have no clue on how to save or where to save my documents from Office 2007. The documents consist of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and a few various folders. Should I from the Start Menue click on Documents select all and copy. Where should I place this copy? Can It be left on my hard drive? After I install Office 2010 can I then copy the "Document File" and place in Documents. Will all the files end up in the proper place for their programs, Word files go to Word, Excel goes to Excel so on and so forth. Thank you so much for all your help and cooperation. It is greatly appreciated. I hope I described my situation correctly. I look forward to hearing from you.

Answer:2010 Office Professional Plus to Replace 2007 Office Small Business

But you don't have to uninstall Office 2007 to upgrade to 2010. That's the general rule as you can generally upgrade from lower SKUs to higher SKUs (Small Business to Pro Plus). As far as saving your documents, you can really save them wherever you like on your hard drive or on any CD or flash drive if you wish to do so. As far as file types, after 2010 is installed, they should all register properly for their programs so that Word documents open in Word, Excel Documents in Excel, etc.

Though if you have all of you documents already saved within "Documents" or "My Documents" or some other folder you've set aside and you want to uninstall 2007 before upgrading to 2010, the documents themselves will be retained when you uninstall, you just won't be able to really do much with them until you install 2010.

Hello all - Unwittingly, I installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 on a computer that alread had Office 97 including Outlook Express. I know now that I should have removed the old before installing the new because every time I start Word 2007, I get a message that says: Please wait while set-up prepares the necessary files. Then comes a screeen with a progress bar that says: Configuration Process - Configuring Microsoft Office Professional 2007. This configuration takes an average of 3 minutes and then it's ready. The other components of 2007 like Excel, Publisher, Power Point, Outlook, etc.all start instantly. I know that I have to delete office 97 which in turn will adversely affect Office 2007 so I will then have to delete it as well and reinstall it. My question is, how do I keep from losing my contacts and address book in Outlook while both suites are off the computer and until I can reinstall Office 2007 by itself? Am I overlooking doing anything else to be proactive in advance to accomplishing what needs to be done? Thanks!

Answer:Office Professional Plus 2007

Whats your OS? When you go to "Add/Remove Programs" does it list both Word 97 and 2007? Before removing anything make sure all data is backed up. Look in the programs files for your data, I am not to sure where 97 hids the files.

Hello,

Reinstalled all Sony Pre-Loaded software,
which did NOT include any Prior version of MS Office. (Other than a Trial
Version of Office 2003 which I never used or installed. It's still in my
computer) Have no idea what version it is. Simply doesn't say because it's never been installed. It's sitting in the same start menu as all of the other MS Office 2007 Programs.
In another message forum I was told to delete it. However, Office 2007 Pro worked fine for 2 days with the Trial program still sitting in the Start folder.

I managed to install MS Office Professional 2007 and it's worked
for 2 days without a hitch. Today, I get the error message when I try to use
Outlook "Cannot start MS Office Outlook. Cannot initialize MS Office Shared
Utilities. Restart your computer Or reinstall MS Office Outlook." No Luck!!
Also, when I try to start up MS Word, the message says "Not enought memory
to load Word." (I have 2 Gig of Ram and a 320 Gig hard Drive???)

When I insert the Office Pro 2007 disk to Reinstall, the message is: "The
path you have chosen does not point at a qualifying upgradable product.
Click Try again or Cancel to quit setup."

I also don't have ANY previous versions of any Office Suite program to use.
I had Office 2003 Pro installed but that was deleted when I purchased Office 2007 Pro. I do have the disks for Office
2007 Pro.

I have Office Professional 2007 installed on an HP Pavillion DV7 series laptop.

Their were no issues at first. Now every program in the series works fine except the one I need the most - Office. When you click on the program the Office Word box comes up on the screen but that's it-the little blue icon circles forever-the program will not load. No error message, nothing. It worked perfectly before, it is a valid copy, and I am stumped.

Any ideas?

Word does not, and all attempts at installing it through AddOn, etc. failed. Does anyone have epxerience with this particular function.

Yikes, I wish I had my 2003 back...
And if you would like to comment...how easy is it to remove just Word out of the "suite" get the old one back.

If that is do-able without a problem, I'd give it a shot.

In the meantime, if I can get that darn PDF conversion to work...

Hi,

Sorry it looks as though the download link has now been redirected to Office 2010.

Your best options are: -

Borrow one.
Ask the owner for the disk & install from there.
Buy a genuine installation disk on-line from E-bay etc.
or down load a full (All versions) copy from an ftp site? A .ISO image is approx 2.54 Gig!

I have an old Win XP machine with Office 2007 that I am replacing with a shiny new Win 10 machine. I have purchased Office 365 Home Subscription. I will need to keep both machines running for at least a few months because of one software application that I cannot port to the Win 10 machine. I also have an iPhone and an iPad.

I have several email accounts not all with the same host. Most are with GoDaddy. I have two that were for two different businesses I ran and a couple for personal use.

I need help configuring the email so that I can get messages on all of these devices (old Win XP machine, new Win 10 machine, iPad, & iPhone).

I have several questions:
Can the old and new machines share email messages if one is running Office 2007 and the other Office 365? Or do I have to upgrade the old machine to Office 365?
The old machine is currently set up as POP3. Is that going to be a problem?
Is there a way that I can "ignore" emails that I see on one mobile device and have it also not show up on any other mobile devices, but not be deleted and still show up on the PC?
If I set up an email folder structure, will that structure be mirrored on the server and also on all of the other devices? If I move an email from one folder to another or move an entire folder, will that be propagated to the server and all devices?
Are any of the books out there any good at helping me sort all this out? If so, which ones?
Thanks for any tips or pointers...

Answer:Email setup when converting from Office 2007 & Win XP to Office 365 & Win 10

Can the old and new machines share email messages if one is running Office 2007 and the other Office 365? Or do I have to upgrade the old machine to Office 365?

Yes, but this is more dependent on the protocol you use to access the messages than the versions of Office.

The old machine is currently set up as POP3. Is that going to be a problem?

Most likely yes.  Post Office Protocol (POP) is "first generation" protocol for dealing with e-mail before the age when someone was likely to be trying to juggle the same e-mail messages on multiple devices.   It is a client side arrangement, which means your e-mail messages (in most default configurations) are downloaded to the device you're reading them on and as soon as that's done, or at some set time afterward, they are deleted from the server and are no longer available for additional download to other devices.

If you expect to be wanting to juggle the same messages across multiple devices you should convert to the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP).  IMAP is a server side protocol, where all messages, and the folders that you set up, and the filters you create to sort them into those folders, are all created and stored on the e-mail server.  The devices that access your mail all connect to the server and get the folder setup and the message headers (usually) until you ... Hello everyone! I will start by saying I know zip about this and please don't pull your hair out while reading this--I would feel very bad... Ok, I have a laptop running Vista. It suddenly 'quit' one day--I started it up and it would do nothing but give me options to 'redo' (sorry this is my term, obviously!). I chose the option to 'redo' that said I would have to reinstall all software that did not come with the computer. After all this I was able to find all my pics, documents and music that I had on the computer. I found all of it in the BACKUP file (I know that's obvious!). Anyway, got all my other software installed and then tried to install the office professional and it tells me that since it is an upgrade I must have another version to install this. Well, no I'm worried. I thought I would be able to find the old version of office in my BACKUP but I've been unable to. So this leads me to believe that it got deleted? Also, this laptop was bought used (tho' it is not very old). So, my question--is the previous version in my BACKUP somewhere and I just can't find it? Or is it on the CD that came w/ the 'puter? If so, how do I find it? Thank you all for reading this and I hope that you all still have your hair!

Answer:Can't Reinstall Office Professional 2007 Upgrade

Hi Curlygirl, welcome to BC. To install Office 07 Pro (not pro plus) from an upgrade disk, you must have one of the qualifying products in the quote below:Microsoft Works 6.0?10; Microsoft Works suite 2000?2006 or later; any 2000?2007 Microsoft Office program or suite; any Microsoft Office XP suite except Office XP Student and Teacher. In most cases you only need to provide the cd and point the installer to it. The actual qualifying program doesn't necessarily have to be installed. Also, this laptop was bought used (tho' it is not very old). So, my question--is the previous version in my BACKUP somewhere and I just can't find it? Or is it on the CD that came w/ the 'puter? If it were anywhere, it would have most likely been on a seperate cd that was supplied with the system, though even that would be highly doubtful.Couple quick questions to be of any more help:1. If you have no cd, what method did you use to "redo" your system?2. What is the make and model of your laptop?

I am having issues when downloading the disk, it stops halfway through the download process and says there is a PRORWW.cab what file do I set up in?

Answer:Loading Microsoft office professional 2007

Please give us the exact error message.
If it says that it's missing PRORWW.cab, that is a file on the CD. Either the CD is smudged or scratched, or your CD drive is not reading the CD properly. Wipe the disc with a lint free cloth. If you still get the same message, try a different CD. You can try the same CD in a different CD drive as well.

I recently purchased 2007 Office and started to install it. Everything loaded fine with only using the 1st disk. Does anyone know what disk 2 is for? Should I bother trying to install it? I see on some of these posts, that others receive an error when trying to install it. If all programs loaded, what is even on disk 2?

Thanks for any help.

I have had nothing but problems since I purchased Microsoft Office Professional 2007 back in April. I'm running on Vista.
I am experiencing:

-Outlook constantly stops responding.
-The servers can not communicate from my business/domain e-mail.
-Business Contact Manager always freezes up.
-Outlook "stops working" when I try to export my business contact manager data.
-BCM and Accounting are not integrating customer information.

I have tried to resolve the issues by:
-uninstalling and reinstalling
-verifying my business e-mail server (SMTP) is pointed directly
-verified BCM & Accounting are on the same database
-Downloaded service packs MSXML (KB936181), (KB941833) and (KB954430).

I REALLY need to have this software and database functioning top notch in order to maintain the operational records of my company. I would be devastated to have to seek out an alternative program after I have spent all of this money, time and effort to implement this system.

I have never had a good experience with MS support. I'm desperate for these issues to be resolved. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

PC is HP G70 Notebook - Pentium Dual Core; MS Windows Vista Home Premium. Preloaded with a trial period of MS Home and Student when I purchased the laptop. Since I didn't want the Home/Student software, I purchased MS Office Professional 2007 online via E-bay. This software is licenced for 3 computers.
When I installed the Professional 2007, I was not aware it did not overwrite the Home/Student Product ID#. Of course, I didn't uninstall that software at the time.....my mistake!! In the meantime, I received notice the Home/Student software was expiring thus why I then realized the software I purchased was not activated. I tried to reinstall it but the Home/Student Product ID will not erase despite uninstall that software several times. I've tried uninstalling both MS Home/Student & Professional 2007 to start fresh but to no avail. The system is 'stuck' with the Product ID# of the Home/Student.

Since MS Home/Student version expired, I only have limited functionality at this point. It significantly impacts upon my Outlook which is critical for my use.

What can I do to get my Office Professional 2007 activated. I have installed it on another machine (licensed for 3 computers) and not having any issues at all on that computer???). I'm guessing the registry or files need to be changed but that's way over my head!

My question is how to uninstall the above which I have tried everything, but it remains in
Programs and Features/ where all installed programs are listed.

I have gone into the registry innumerable times, and deleted anything that had the
words OFFICE in it,have deleted recently some of the OUTLOOK keys, but not all of them
as there were at least 15 keys and I did not want to cause a crash, so deleted the
Application keys.

None of this has made a difference. The title continues to remain in my
Add programs and cause Event Viewer to issue Administrative Event
warnings about MUI something or other..can't recall what it says but
it is constant.

If anyone knows how to untangle the link or whatever it is in my
Control Panel ADD programs, it would be one less headache.

I am tired of seeing the same error message, over and over in
Event Viewer Administrative Events.

Before that  I had Kernel Event Tracing error, but somehow, after
about 600 of those messages, I managed to get rid of it, now about
9 days have passed, and I am not sure what I did to cause its
demise.

At first i thought it was due to uninstalling Microsoft Security Essentials?
as I had read that on another blog, so maybe that was it.

Answer:[SOLVED] uninstallation of office professional plus 2007

Hi, and welcome to TSF!

You couldn't uninstall the 32 bits office 2007? So the standard way didn't work? (Start> Control panel> software>remove a program) retry it once more. If I'm correct you will get some sort of error message if you indeed cannot remove the program this way.

Good luck

Hi Everyone,

I have discovered that Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Plus has been accidentally loaded onto about 40 computers where I work (it was loaded on by way of an image file that was deployed by PXE).

I now need to remove the Plus version of this software and reinstall the 'standard' Professional version.

Alternatively maybe I can change the existing Plus installation by removing the extra features that come with Plus, and then changing the product key?

If anybody can think of any way to get this done - particularly if it can be done 'automatically' - your suggestion(s) will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

Help! Problems installing Office Professional 2007 upgrade.

I bought the upgrade for my Office Professional 2007 version, and installed
it ith no problem on my computer. Unfortunately, this hard drive crashed
Tuesday. So, rather than buy a new hard drive, I simply used a hard drive in
an extra CPU from my office that was shut down last year. This computer
has Office 2003 on it and was in a networked office. When I tried to install
the upgrade, I ran into a problem. This is what happened: I put in my
Office Professional 2007 upgrade disks, enter product key, is ok'd, and then
I get the following message: "Setup cannot find office.en-us\1033\dwintl20.dll. Browse to a valid installation source." I found some dwintl20.dll files on my hard drive, but when I click OK, it won't accept any. So, it cancels the upgrade installation.

The only thing I could think of that would be a problem was that this
particular hard drive was in a computer at an office that was networked with
the original information being on the network.

Both the crashed hd and recently installed hd from office computer has Office Basic Edition 2003, separate licenses; both came with Dell computers bought in 2004. I have the original disks for the crashed computer AND for the hard drive installed now.

(Of course, I did not reformat the hard drive before installing. Hindsight...yada, yada, yada.) Regardless, what can I do NOW? Should install the Office 2003 version that was on the ... Read more

I’m in the market for Microsoft Office 2007 Professional.

I came across the product on eBay (see link below). It’s new, factory sealed, ?90, not OEM and comes with a product key and certificate of authenticity. Also the seller has been established on eBay for five years and has consistently good feedback.

However, the product is made in China and the seller is located in Indonesia.

Has anyone had problems with software bought under these conditions?

Answer:Microsoft Office 2007 Professional: Made in China

That is an extremely bad idea. I wouldn't purchase it.

Hello there.

I recently bought Microsoft Office 2007 on eBay. It came in the mail today. When I put the disc into my computer, nothing happens. I cannot hear the disc running. Nothing is prompted on the screen and when I look in "my computer" it does not show anything other than what's normally there. I guess I am asking for help trying to figure out how to download this program onto my computer as I just started college classes and already have assignments due and cannot complete them without it.

Please be gently, as I know to some this may seem basic. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Answer:Microsoft Office Professional 2007 download issues.

First of all - welcome to BC !

There are two possibilities here. The first, and less worrying, is your optical drive may have died and gone to a better place. Can you read any other software disc or play a movie DVD ? If you can, your drive is working. If you can't, then it is almost certainly your drive.

The Office disc may be faulty or fake. Try it in a different computer to see if it can be read or offers to install itself. If it can neither be read nor offers to install on a different computer then your only hope of redress is to take it up with first the supplier and then the eBay complaints procedure.

Sorry I can't be more optimistic on your first visit to BC.

Answer:Not Able to install ms office 2007 into Windows XP Professional server pack 2

Hello, and welcome to Bleeping Computer. Firstly you should definitely have Service Pack 3 installed for Windows XP. And speaking of service packs, you're not mistakenly using a Service Pack for MS Office as your source media are you? The statement regarding no products affected by this package sounds like an error message produced by a Service Pack that has not found installed software to update.

You can back up your Outlook contacts very easily. Here are the instructions. Uninstalling Office 2007 will not mean you will lose your documents just the ability to open then untill you either reinstall Office 2007 or another office program.
But you will have a backup of all your documents anyway, won't you?

...and won't install

Right...where do I begin. I'm using an oldish PC with xp sp2. I downloaded and used some utils from this excellent site to try and increase it's performance (namely ccleaner, taskfree and complete clean up).

I found that after running these programs Office stopped working (I don't know whether it is related to those programs) saying that it was not installed for that user, or words to that effect. I spoke to an IT guy at work about this and he told me to unistall office totally then try reinstalling it - i did this following instructions from the microsoft site.

On reinstalling I was presented with the 'Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 encountered an error during setup' message. I've tried loads of 'fixes' from different forums and from microsofts site and nothing has worked.

Has anybody got any ideas of a way to sort this problem?

Hi!

I'm having trouble installing my authentic copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate. I use Windows Vista Business, and everything else runs ok. The install fails approximately 20% into the process, and shows the message:

Error 2203. An internal error has occurred. (C:\Windows\Installer\986af5.msi - 2147287008) Contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. Following this message are some instructions on how to contact PSS.

I have noticed the file name changes each time - might this mean that setup gets a little further each time I attempt the installation?

Would appreciate any assistance on this matter. Thanks in advance!

Hello,

When I try to open a 2007 Word or Excel document I recieve as an attachment in Outlook 2003, I get the following message:

I updated my OS (currently has Windows XP SP3) with all updates, reinstalled Office 2003, installed Office 2003 SP 3 and then reinstalled the Office 2007 compatibility pack.

I still get the same message when I try to open an Office 2007 attachment in Outlook 2003.

OS is Windows XP SP3 fully updated
Office 2003 SP 3 fully updated

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any hel on this issue.

The computer almost freezes and TaskManager if I can get it up shows each Office app starts up - lots of CPU then shuts down and the next app starts up.
Usually in the follwoing order:
Winword.exe
Excel.exe
PowerPoint.exe
Publisher.exe

Don't have anyting in Startup than scanner, webshots, and AVG?

I've unistalled Office 203 and computer boots up fine?
Is Office doing some sort of lookup for updates for each app? how do I turn off, rather do when if I need to?

Any advice greatly appreciated

Answer:XP Professional (Office 2003 Professional ) boots up slow

MS Office...installs a load upon any operating system.First of all, Outlook will hijack your email function. Then, there are update mechanisms. Finally, there are multiple programs requiring heavy resources when they are running.I don't know where you are getting your startup item data...but I suggest that you download/install Autoruns and take a look at the Logon tab only fi you want to see what's running at boot that you should be concerned about.AutoRuns for Windows - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx Louis

Hi guys,

I have got a laptop with a fresh instal of W7 Pro x64 on it. When I try to install Office 2007 Enterprise or Office Pro Plus 2010 on it the setup tries to start but then crashes with "Microsoft Office Setup has stopped working". This occurs when it actually tries to install, I can go through entering CD key, choosing install location and what to install no problem.

I have tried installing from a downloaded ISO as well in case the disks were in bad condition but exactly the same issue occured.

Any help much appreciated.

Greetings-
Outlook 2007 is intermittent when viewing an individual email (I'm running Windows 7) .... Seems like the body of the email is always viewable in the preview screen... BUT when I click to open the email, sometimes the body is there but most of the time it's completely blank (ie not even any red "x")... If I close Outlook completely, then re-open; it works for a few emails then completely blank (except for to "from", "to", "subject")...

With the "blank" email open, if I then click on "other actions" then "view in browser", I can see the body in the Internet (defaulting to "Opera") Browser....
I have gone into the "Trust Center", "Automatic Download" and "clicked "off" the "Don't download pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages")...

Any ideas???

All the applications worked immediatley and correctly except, Access. This application will neither open or run ? I have uninstalled it, re-installed twice, but that particular component will not run.
Any advise would be appreciated.

This isn't an upgrade. I bought the full version Office Professional 2003 and would like to install it over what I have now. I had Office 97 and an upgrade CD to Office 2000. Will I lose anything to install Office 2003 over Office 2000? I have WinXP home if that makes a difference.

Hi - I am working on an MS XP which I bought second hand from a computer fix-it place. The computer came with Office Small Business. Since this computer has Access on it, I ---- in all my infinite questionable wisdom --- decided to teach myself this application. But, the Access wizards require Office 2000 SR-1 Professional. Can you tell me how to get Office Professional? I've been unemployed since February and not looking forward to paying for anything these days -- will it cost me? Do I need to remove Small Business before loading Professional? Should I just forget it and work with whatever I can with Small Business? Thank you for your infinite wisdom.

Answer:I have Office Small Business but need Office Professional

I assume that you are running the 2000 of OSB version on this machine.
Does your machine have the Office 2000 SR 1 installed?

Also check for ALL of the Office updates and install them.

Running Vista Ultimate (32 bit) on HP Media Center Desktop Unit (8100y). Each time system is booted up and Outlook 2007 is accessed for the first time, Microsoft Office 2007 begins to reconfigure itself. Neither canceling of the configuation process nor allowing the process to complete seems to have any apparent effect on subsequent operations.

Performed repair function on the Office application without any discernible effect. Any help in resolving this issue would be truly appreciated!

Hi,

I received a free copy of Microsoft Professional '10 through my school. I am currently running Office '07 but figured if its free why not upgrade. I wondered what is the best way to switch? I was also somewhat worried about losing my files as I have a lot of valuable word docs on the laptop.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

I am getting the following error when I try to reinstall a custom setup office XP install on a windows 2000 machine.

"OFFXP: Setup Detects Office XP Running When You Attempt to Install Office XP"

I had the uninstall the office xp on this machine through add/remove programs because it was crashing alot. The custom install works fine on all other windows 2000 and xp machines.

I found the following error in MS knowledgebase
article 292497 (I can't post the link because I'm a new member)

It says to to hit ignore. If I hit ignore it does install but it doesn't install with the correct options for the custom install. (I have it set to not install outlook and it installs outlook, etc.) Obviously its not following the custom install.

Any ideas? I believe something is left on the pc from office when it was installed. I even ran the Removal Wizard on the Office XP Resource kit. It is supposed to remove everything left from previous versions. However, it must be missing something because I am still getting that error when I try to reinstall Office XP that is described above.

ThankS!

For no apparent reason my version of MS Outlook has suddenly gone belly-up. All other apps. in Office work fine.
When I now try to open Outlook I receive the following "Cannot open your default email folders. The file C:\User\Maurice\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file"

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Office from the original disks a number of times, I have successfully installed this on another Win7 desktop computer partition and it works fine. I have attempted to follow the MS repair online notification for .pst but it doesn't seem to work (or maybe it is me that isn't working). Most frustrating. Any word by word suggestions greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 Dell Multimedia computer.
It has Office 2007 installed , which includes PowerPoint 2007.

We need to upgrade PP 2007 to PP 2010 to help run embedded You Tube videos.

I have an unused and unopened stand alone version of PowerPoint 2010 to install on The Dell Multimedia computer.

How is the best way to do this upgrade with the least amount of problems ??

Can I uninstall only the PP app of Office 2007?
What if I uninstall the 2007, and then have problems installing the 2010?

Thanks in advance.

Many users who have upgraded from Microsoft Office 2003 to Office 2007 may find Office 2007 a bit difficult because of the new toolbar and arrangement of buttons. So, there is a free add-on for Office 2007 called UBitMenu which will add the menu bar and toolbar of Office 2003 in Office 2007 under a ribbon named as Menu. Download Link More Info Homepage

Just bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine.

Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".

I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

I have not seen this particular item in the forums and would appreciate very much some help in fixing this issue.

Thanks,

Grubby

Good Day,

I've often used the Files and Transfer Wizard to move files in the Windows XP environment, including those for people moving from Office 2003 to 2007, however, I've just been asked to move a person from a computer that would result in them moving backwards from Office 2007 to Office 2003; is this possible? What concerns should be considered? Obviously if they have a number of documents saved in the 2007 it could be problematic, though could the compatibility pack offered by Microsoft offset that concern? Thoughts? Thanks.

Regards,
Jeff
