application hang end program error

Question: application hang end program error

Every web site I try to navigate through freezes within 10-20 seconds and shows an end program message. Sometimes I even get this message when I try to shut down. I cannot even write this from my own computer as the web site blocks! Event Viewer shows long lists of Application Hang errors, none for Internet Explorer. I?m using IE 7, Windows XP Professional,2002, Service pack 2.

Preferred Solution: application hang end program error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: application hang end program error

Ok first im gunna need to check how much RAM you have left avaliable do this by:
1. Go to Start and click Run
2. Type "dxdiag" and click OK
3. Click the Save ALL Information
4. On this forum you'll need to upload the file as a attachment. The file will probably be saved to your desktop and will be named "DxDiag.txt".

Windows Explorer won't let me right click on anything. I have run in safe mode and it works, I have run in clean mode and had same issue. I cannot find a fix. I have run AVG and no virus, I have run SFC and it was fine. Hoping to find a quicker fix.) It all started when Word 2010 (after installing SP2) starting crashing, I changed the default printer, and then Explorer.exe stopped working.

Hello All, I have a dialog application which contain checkbox on it.When i check this checkbox application hangs up with this error message below "?Configuration program for Omni PCX Office doesn?t work anymore? Any idea why this error message appears, it happens only in Vista OS but not in xp,below is configuration of vista PC 32 bit OS Vista Business SP2 with Dutch language!!!

Answer:Checking checkbox in the application causes application to hang

Have you tried to reinstall the program? This does sometimes happen after another program has been installed or by corruption.
Try running chkdsk to see if there is any problems with your HD.
Are any other programs failing?

Hi all,

I'm having a rather strange issue that I haven't been able to trace, mostly because although the error itself makes sense to me, I have no idea what it means.

I'm using Windows XP pro, 32 bit with service pack 3 on an HP 8510W notebook. Recently I noticed that every time I closed a program, or a program exited properly, I received an error that looked something like this.

notepad.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00bb1f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x03051f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

taskmgr.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x009c1f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
And so on, with everything from Reaper to firefox to Task Manager. I've also noticed two other things, which are:
A. this error never occurs if I manually end the task from within task manager or tskill, only when the program legitimately exits.
B. The first hex value always changes, but the second value, the memory being referenced, always stays the same.

This windows install has had some issues in the past anyway, and I'm two steps from installing windows 7 on this thing as it is. The on... Read more

1) Install Windows 7 if compatible. 2) Is this the same machine that was infected with malware?"THe only thing stopping me is a lack of knowledge about how to install windows while preserving documents and data from the old windows install, since I currently do not own a working external drive."If there is no external media to save the data to, this may present an issue: There may be a workaround, but this may also be forthcoming....One could (I suppose) create a partition on the HDD to house the data. Use the other partition to install Windows; then access the "backup" partition affterward.I would suggest imaging the HDD before continuing this journey. Every single time I try to print something, I get a white error box that says WordPad, AOL, NotePad, Paint, (or which ever program I try - it happens with all programs ) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Error signature:
AppName: wordpad.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.1106 ModName: hpzntp07.dll
ModVer: 2.140.0.0 Offset: 00026403

Can someone please help me asap? I cant print anything at all because of this. I have a Dell, WinXP.
Thank you

Answer:Get Application error every time I try to print, regardless of which program I use

Which HP printer are you using?

If Windows XP detected and used its own drivers, you should download the up-to-date drivers. (hpzntp07.dll is a HP driver)

Hi I have been having problems lately with System Restore, Magnify, and WordPad (the only ones i have noticed so far) that when I start them they give me an error stating they're "not valid win32 application(s)". I was able to fix my system restore by opening command and doing a 'SFC /SCANNOW' scan. I was wondering if there is anythig else I can type in command to hopefully fix the other two programs? Or are there any other solutions to this problem?

We lost power to our computer one day last week and it hasn't worked properly since. Ad-aware would not open so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Somewhere during the installation process it freezes up and I get an error message saying it needs to close. When I try to open already installed programs I get an set up error that says error writing application data. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling those programs also with the same result. I have a Y700-34ISH Desktop (ideacentre) - Type 90DF00B2MW, and the "Driver and Installation Application" program is installed. When I clicked on the driver menu it showed a bunch of items, which I went ahead and installed. It asked me to restart the PC, but after I did the items are still showing.

1. What is happening?
2. What are the benefits of this program?
3. Is it ok to uninstall it if I don't want those benefits?

EDIT: It seems like this program "updated" several drivers to older versions. At least that happened with Geforce, and I also had to reassign my headset as the preferred output in the sound settings.

Confusing stuff like this doesn't make one happy after spending $1500 on a new PC.

I get random application hang up. I can't end the program. The restart command will not respond. I must push the main button until the system shuts down.

The system starts again without difficulty.

The Windows XP Event Viewer shows no system errors. In the application window it simply shows Application Hang with the Event 1001/1002 combination. I can't seem to find any really useful information on these event codes.

The problem has become a daily occurrence. Any clues would be appreciated.

I have a user with XP Pro. Just set up his new laptop everything was working fine until Word started acting up...freezing. I checked Event Viewer and there are two errors. One is Category 101 Event ID 1002; Application Hang. The other is Desktop History Quee P with no catagory nor event id. He has a fresh installation of Office 2003. He's running Adobe Reader, AutoCad Lite, Act, CardScan, VPlanner. VPlanner is the only program he's using that no one else in the company is using. I'm figuring that could be the culprit, but he has used it for a long time with no issues...can you help me?

What version of ACT! - full build from Help | about?

The Desktop history Queue can be an ACT! thing... but this would connect to Outlook, not Word

Assuming ACT! by Sage, you might try:
Exit ACT!
Stop the ACT.Outlook.Service from Services.msc
Delete all files in - %APPDATA%\ACT\ACT for Windows 12\HistoryQueue\
* Change the "12" to your version of ACT!
Restart ACT.Outlook.Service in C:\Program FIles\ACT\ACT For Windows\
Restart ACT!

This might stop a reported error message by flushing out the outlook email message that could not be posted into the ACT History Queue.

Question: "Application Hang"

Recently I have been getting problems with accessing Cyberlink.com (PowerDVD people) whenever I access their site I get "Not Responding" EVERY time. I looked in the Event Viewer and sure enough there is an error with Event 1005 in every instance, and there are many, this is coupled with errors Event1001 and Event 1000.Using MS Knowledge Base, Event 1005 is C:\documents\my name\userdata\index.dat The recommended fix is to use RUN cmd and then chkdsk /f which didn't help - the web page is still not responding. The other suggestion was to delete the offending file, but how do you delete index, dat files?

Answer:"Application Hang"

Have tried removing Index.Dat files with Privacy Mantra and Tracks Eraser (don't think they actually do as they say, problem and file still there!)

Hi,

I have a application that is used for real time monitoring of alarm signals. It is opened and running 24x7 on a windows 7 machine. However, the application seems to hang every 10 days or so,as shown in Task Manager not responding.

I have asked the vendor many times that his application hang, they keep saying it is my Windows 7 configuration and not their application. However all other applications works fine when the application is not responding.

I have uploaded the dmp file from the task manager and here's the link.

I do hope someone from the forum can help me find out why the application hang and also provide me some proof I can send to the vendor.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Occasionally, but often enough that I notice, my windows explorer will stop responding.

When I look at the Event Viewer

I see some information about a "deadlock"

0028: 6B 00 00 00 00 00 k.....

Is there anything in this that can help me stop these explorer crashes?

One thing of note: I have my main Windows installation on an Intel SSD 320, and weird things were happening with this drive when I first got it over a year ago. Most of the problems I've resolved over time, but I think this explorer crashing issue by be related to the SSD.

Any ideas?

hey guys,

first i'll give a brief history of my computer: i bought an amd 64 4000+, geforce 7800gtx 256mb, 1gb ram, Winxp. about a year ago the hard drive became corrupt and unbootable, so i had to replace it with another 200gb, and i stuck another 1gb of ram in at the same time.

ever since this repair job, and the subsequent reinstalling of windows, it's had this problem whereby any attempt to launch an application results in a hang of about 30 seconds to 1 minute. the most common offenders are WMP11, ACDsee, Ventrilo, Internet Explorer, Nero, Photoshop, uTorrent.

but some programs will start instantly every time, eg. Firefox, and pretty much every game in my collection.

i know nothing about computers, so my only guesses are that these programs require a lot of memory or something, but that's no excuse to freeze my computer every time they load up.

is there a simple solution to this? i realize this is complicated and vague, so don't bust your heads over it, thanks.

Answer:Application Launching Causes Hang

Shut down, remove the new stick of RAM, and restart and test your apps (well, not uTorrent - we can't support that here at TSF) ...

See what happens.

I work in the IT Department at a large corporation. Last March we bought about 100 new PCs from Dell (GX280). Here are their specs:

P4 2.8 GHz Processor
40 GB HD
512 MB Ram
Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit NIC

We have created our own image for the machines, which makes it 100 x easier for us to deploy these machines across our network. Here are the main programs we have loaded.

Win XP Professional
MS Office 2000
MS Outlook 2003
IE 6.0
Trend Micro OfficeScan Client

Our problem is that we've deployed about 40% of the machines since we bought them and have had just about every computer lockup or hang on our users. We have HyperTreading enabled which helps for people being able to save their work when the machine does hang because it only hangs at 50%. But the only thing you can do from there is to manually shutdown the computer by holding in the power button and reboot.

From the research that I have done it seems that it happens at completely random times with completely random programs running. At first we found the error happened mainly when people opened up IE 6, since the program that the computer would hang on was under IEXPLORER.EXE. Other programs that hangup are Outlook 2003, Word 2000, Excel 2000, etc.

If I were to go into the computers Event Viewer under System Tools in Computer Management and find the Application Hang error, here is an example of what the error reads:

Hanging application IEXPLORE.EXE, version 6.0.2900.2180, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.... Read more

I have an installation that I built with InstallShield that launches an executable which requires some resource files as well as another program running in the background(MATLAB Component Runtime). When I install this on my Vista 64 machine and then launch the application it just hangs for 5 to 10 minutes. What I mean is that the application begins to launch, as I can see in the Task Manager, but then hangs around 14k. If I just let it keep running eventually 5 or 10 minutes later it will completely launch the app and its interface will pop-up and be active and run normally. If I call the executable(not installed) the program launches fine and everything works fine. Also, if I install the app on my desktop, i.e. not in ProgramFilesFolder, it runs without the delay. The only workaround I could find was to navigate to the installed .exe file and change its Privilege Level to "run program as an adminstrator". I've tried inserting manifests with different execution levels, but that didn't work. Anyone have any clues?

Hi,

I'm using Windows 7 RTM for two months or so.
I have a recurring problem: While surfing the web after sometime, either with IE 8 or FF3.5, the browser stops responding and I have to close it and reopen in order to surf again, and then its stops responding more often, so I have to restart the computer in order to surf again without interruption. Also: After one of the browsers crashes for the first time, I can't use Windows media player until I restart the computer.

The event viewer says that I had an 'Application Hang' Code 1002.
I've made some memory tests but they showed no problem, I've cleared Adobe Flash history, but it didn't help - it keeps on doing this.

My computer's specs:
Intel Core2Duo E6400
Intel 965WH motherboard
2GB Ram 800Mhz
Nvidia 8500

Anyone has a suggestion?

Thanks,
Udi

Hi Guys,
Any idea why our inhouse developed app hangs when being used?

Single user 32bit app installed on one machine, running Windows 7 X64, our app was recently copied across from a 32bit Windows XP legacy computer, the application does not use the registry (but ini files) and works most of the time, but intermittantly hangs. There is no consistent cause to the program failing. When the app crashes, the rest of Windows works no problem, any tips how to analyse this further?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Windows 7 X64 application hang

Since it's an in-house app, I'd suggest that you recompile it on a 64-bit machine. I run 64-bit Windows 8.1U, using Visual Studio 2013, and I know that you can specify that resulting EXE should be 32-bit or 64-bit.
Keep in mind, say the program uses abc123.dll on Windows XP (32-bit), and Windows 7 (64-bit) has the same DLL, internally the DLL might be different, and that can cause issues. Also, depending on what the app is, and what it's doing, there could be other conflicts, so recompiling is probably the best thing to do first.
Also, depending on the programming environment you use (e.g. Borland C++), you can also place all the necessary files (in the case of Borland C++, the *.BPL files in the same installation folder, and your program will only use them). Look at the program:
http://www.dependencywalker.com/
You simply find your main EXE, and it will provide a list of the program that it will use. Then specify these files in your installation program (e.g. innosetup) script. The installation program then will grab the files, and include them in the resulting SETUP program. Make sure that all these files are only installed in your application folder. Remember, in Windows, when a program needs a DLL for example, it looks in the current folder, then in the folders in the PATH statement.
Also, keep this in mind. Some programs will redistribute files that have the same name (e.g. abc123.dll) as other programs, and also modify the... Read more

Hello, I posted the following in another section (Gaming Online) and was advised to post here for possible help.

I've been having trouble with a game I play, Star Trek Online. The problem is that the Game Client will sometimes hang on a map transition or character change. I have been receiving help from the "Game Masters" at Cryptic Studios. One of the most recent reply from the Game Master suggested that I do a Hijhackthis scan and send him a copy of the log. Which I did. His next reply simply suggested that I get a technician or engineer to look at my log and help me fix the App Hang issues as well as "your other issues".

This is concerning to me as I can't get the Game Master to elaborate on his "your other issues" comment or even point me in the right direction for help.

Can someone here please help me?
Thank you!

Answer:Application Hang caused by malware?

I can post additional info or whatever, but I don't know what info may be needed.

Besides the App Hang issue, I've also noticed that my Wireless Modem will suddenly become unrecognized by my computer and will act as though I unplugged it from the USB port, but will then re-install itself a few seconds later. It does this randomly and will sometimes do this 3-4 times in a span of about 5-6 minutes. I do not know if these issues are related, but felt I should mention it.

Additional info upon request, I also have an HJT log.

Thanks in advance!

I am desperate for some help. This has been an on and off problem with our computers for a while now, but for some reason yesterday and today, I can barely keep our Medisoft program running for more than five minutes at a time. We have two computers running XP Professional that also run a medical software called Medisoft off of a server. We get this sporadic problem of the software "hanging" intermittently. It will work fine for months, and then bam... non-stop. It is a huge pain. I've brought it up to our tech guy (who is also the one who set up our network and software) and he's tried some things but ultimately does not know what's going on and has not been able to fix it.Here is a screenshot of the error log: If someone could give me any advice, it would be soappreciated! Thanks, skylyreI'm realizing how bad that image looks... here's the direct link: http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m274/skablimeitup/apphangpic.jpgAlright they both look bad, sorry I will just copy paste if anyone thinks they can help!

Well...what things have been tried?

Generally...a problem with a single program can probably best be attacked as corruption or the need for updating to the program, IMO.

Has anyone checked Event Viewer logs for possible clues?

You may want to look at the data available at www.eventid.net, but those errors look pretty generic to me.

Hey ,

since I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium x64 I'm getting a wierd problem. Sometimes my Browser ( FF 3.5 , IE8 , Opera10 ) stops responding. I have to close it via Task Manager and re-open it. When viewing a video on youtube , it stops responding immediately.
I cannot use Windows Media Player , ICQ , Skype or any Internet Browser until I reboot. The event history is only giving me a " 1002 - Application Hang ".

I think it has something to do with Adobe Flash Player. If I uninstall , the problem goes away - but I cannot live without Adobe Flash

My Problem is very similar to another one from this board :

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/32597-browser-application-hang.html

I also tried uninstalling the Flash Player and reinstall it - but it doesn't help.

My System :

2GB Geil Ultra DDR2-800 CL4
ATI HD4850 512M
Cosair VX450W PSU
Athlon 64 6000+ X2

Thanks,

I have several workstations in a domain where dialer.exe gets an application hang for no specified reason. The error can also be replicated
by launching Phone and Modem and choosing the Advanced Tab. It was working on one computer for about a year and then stopped working. The other is a brand new computer, and it never seems to have worked. I've run chkdsk and sfc, which found no errors. Creating
a new profile does not improve the situation.
One thing that ties the machines together- they both use Avaya IP Office suite. It's possible that this damaged dialer.exe.

I am running OEM Windows XPSP2 Pro with Office 2003 on a 260g scrubbed harddrive and have recently installed several software programs...old programs that I know how to work and that cost less. I downloaded updated drivers and all seemed to be going well except that I keep getting Application Hang Event 2002. The explanation says that "Windows NTBackup.exe tool stops responding is there are lots of registry entries under the FilesNot To Back Up on Windows server 2003 based computer."

There is a "hotfix" for this problem and it was sent to me by Microsoft in an e-mail with the following warning:If you decide to install this hotfix, please note the following items:

Do not deploy a hotfix in a production environment without first testing the hotfix.

Back up the system or the computer that will receive the hotfix before you install the hotfix.

How do I back up the system and what are the risks of running this hotfix without backup. I don't want to download SP3, because some of the older software will not run on SP3. And on further investigation, this hotfix may apply to Vista...it doesn't say!

The computer is very slow after installing the software. Could this be part or all of the problem.

I just don't want to screw everything up completely. I have a very limited income and I can't afford to spend any more on this computer. I just want it to work!

Hey guys,

I'm having a similar issue that the user had here: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...ayer-10-a.html

Where basically, after going to YouTube a number of times, my browser (Firefox) hangs along with other applications in Windows 7 such as: Windows Media Player, Steam, etc. This issue also occurs with Internet Explorer as well, not just Firefox. In order to use these programs again, I have to restart my computer.

This is error message I specifically receive for Firefox:

So far, to remedy this problem, I have tried:

1) Completely uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Adobe Flash Player.
2) Using CCleaner and Ashampoo to see if it was some kind of registry/program issue or whatever that could be sorted out.
3) Virus scan with Norton AV 2010 and Malwarebytes. Removed any infected items, but the problem still persists. I don't believe it's a virus or spyware because I scan regularly and it doesn't seem to affect the issue I've been having.

So my question is: is there anything I could do that I haven't done yet to try and fix... Read more

Hello all,

My IE7 intermittently keeps hanging (Internet Explorer Not Responding). I've had this problem a little while now & thought that it was fixed (along with numerous other faults) after replacing faulty ram. I'm still having the same problem even after uninstalling SP3 then IE7 then re-installing them afresh. I've run registry checker , but still have the problem.

When I look in System Information/Software Environment/Windows Error Reporting, the description of the fault is -

Application hang: hanging application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16735, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0. hang address 0x00000000.

I've previously also had -
Application Hang: Fault bucket 939517030.

A previous posting on this forum had a similar problem & was fixed by using the info given. I tried re-setting (before I did a new install). I've tried un-ticking Enable Third-Party browser extensions (waste of time since I don't have any, or toolbars) & so far no joy. Having replaced IE7/SP3 I'm guessing the problem must be elsewhere on my Win XP comp.

Anyone please got any ideas?

Hi,

I've been having some massive issues with Explorer crashing fairly consistently recently. I think it started after I installed Texter (http://lifehacker.com/238306/lifehacker-code-texter-windows) on my Windows 7 box. Every time I loaded Remote Desktop Connection it would error.

Since removing it though Explorer still seems to crash -always when I open RDC however it also appears to randomly crash for no reason. I've spent some time clearing out any unnecessary hooks that might be causing it and have run sfc /scannow (as an admin) but it still seems to happen.

Could anyone offer any insight into what may be causing this? I've pasted the hijack this logs and the event error below as I suspect it will help.

Thanks in advance

Tim

Hello! This is my first post and I'm terribly sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.
I work at a call center. Since about a year ago we've been dealing with an issue we believed to be related to the headsets we were using (Plantronics DA60). We have roughly 70 agents working on the phones and about once or twice a day an agent would report
their workstation no longer had any sound. This would occur sporadically and affected all our agents. While troubleshooting, if we went to open Playback Devices, the application would immediately freeze. The issue could easily be resolved by unplugging the
USB headset and plugging it back in again, allowing for the plug-n-play driver to reinstall itself. Sound would then be restored and everything was working as normal. Since this caused issues for our agents when answering incoming calls, we contacted Interactive
Intelligent (our phone system provider) for additional support. IA were unable to provide answers and explained this could potentially be an issue with the headsets and not their application. We searched the Plantronics forums for any similarly reported issues
with their headsets but found nothing useful. There were no driver updates available for the headset either. We tried troubleshooting the best we could. We disabled USB selective suspend under power setting, thinking for some reason the USB port went to sleep.
Nothing was working and having researched online the best explanation we found was that for some U... Read more

Answer:Acronis True Image 2011 application Hang at start up each time

I've had problems with Acronis TrueImage on some computers, notably Acers, but a few others too.

Making it work depended upon the system BIOS having the floppy drive (even though there probably isn't one) activated as TrueImage emulates it being present.

When you mapped your CD Drive as Z:\ did you remember to alter the registry paths too?

Hello.

I have a question. When I "Turn Off" or "Restart" the computer, I get a window that is titled, "End Program" with the information "IAAMonitor Notify..." I click "Close" and eventually the system either shuts down or turns off. This happens most of the time, once in a while it may shut down or restart without seeing this message, but most of the time I get this End Program message as the computer is closing. I do not know why I am getting this message? How do I get it to stop showing me an End Program most of the time?

I notice there is a resemblance to this same message in my Startup listing in msconfig. It is listed in Startup as "Iaaotif" (without the quotes). It is checked in my startup listing. The "Command" is "C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manger\Iaanotif.exe". The location is: "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run". Don't know if this is related, but it might be. The Iaanotif startup item is for the RAID/ACHI Software - Intel Matrix Storage Manager setup installer (v.7.0.0.1020). This driver is for the SATA hub controller on my Intel motherboard. My Windows XP SP2 is on a 320 GB SATA II Maxtor hard drive. I use the ACHI technology and not the RAID technology on my computer. I have been using flight simulator for a long time now and it froze up the other night. I guessed this was due to an overload on the memory as I have a large amount of add ons. I deleated a scenery area and now when I try to resart it I get a .hang/freeze at the start up screen. is there a way of stoping this. I have set the default to start at the microsoft start in the main CFG but it still freezes during the inititial start sequence

Answer:Program freeze.hang

Hi geoffbecks

Quick Fix try:
Go to XP's Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, and see if Flight Simulator has the option to repair (it should). If so, perform the repair installation of the game.

Best of luck

After restarting my laptop, for an hour or two everything works fine. Then eventually all my programs start to hang up in the middle of whatever I'm doing. Usually the hangups last 30-60 seconds. It makes it really hard to get anything done without having to constantly restart my computer.

I run Vista, and from what I've read this is fairly common with Vista, which doesn't surprise me. Can anyone help me figure out how to pinpoint what the problem is or get this fixed? Let me know what info I can provide.

Answer:Constant program hang ups

Your problem has nothing to do with the fact you are using Vista.

1) What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?
2) Does the same thing happen in safe mode?

Perhaps someone can shed some light on the following problem.

A friend of mine runs a hardware store and sells a lot of paint. Recently, I helped him add a new AMD Athelon 64 computer with WinXp Pro. It was dedicated to a single program which specifies paint formulation for selected colors. The program ran for about a week then began to crash just prior to specifying the mix formula. I don't remember the specific error message, but it was something to the effect that the main executible encountered a read error at a specific address.

We contacted the paint company that produced the program, but could not solve the problem. I ran a Check-it memory test and some Norton Utilities tests and got a clean bill of helth for the machine. I tried an uninstall/reinstall of the program without improvement. I tried a system restore from a date before the problem followed by a reinstall, no help.

I tried installing the program on my own machine, also an AMD Athelon 64 computer with WinXp Pro. Program runs perfectly on MY machine.

What could be the cause of the problem? Corrupted DLL? It can't be another program that is causing problems since this is the only one running on the machine. Should I reformat the drive and reinstall WinXp Pro? ...always a pain especially with re-activation and all, but I'm runnig out of ideas.

I have a relatively complex problem which nobody has been able to solve so far - so I will post it here in the hopes that someone can help me continue with my investigation.

3 computers - two desktops, one laptop, all running vista x64 (two ultimates, one enterprise on one of the desktops).

I have a principal (3D modeling) program I use, and it has various optional plug-ins. One third party plug-in is used for machining parts, and has a hardware key (dongle). It is installed on all 3, I plug the key in wherever I'm working. Function-wise everything is fine. (all this stuff is x86, no native 64 bit yet)

Now for the problem... On one computer (the laptop), if my machining plug-in is loaded, when I close the principal program, the window disappears, but if I go into Task Manager, I see it is still there. That is to say, it doesn't manage to exit correctly. I have to kill it manually. If I don't, every time I open a new instance, it stays stuck in there, at one point before I discovered what was going on, I had 6 or 7... which ran up the memory use, and that's how I found the problem.

If I unload the machining plug-in, the problem goes away.

On the other two computers (desktops) no such problem exists. The program exits normally, plug-in loaded or not.

So, there is obviously a conflict somewhere on the laptop that is preventing the program for exiting properly. I assume this could be any one of a number of things - drivers, other software installed, ??? All thre... Read more

Iv'e put together a new computer and after loading brand new windows xp pro sp2, the system will seemingly hang during use. Whatever program I have open will run fine, but whatever programs I try to open during a period of up to five minutes, will not load and I can not switch users. After it gets unfrozen, all the programs will load up normally and it will go ahead and switch back to welcome screen if previously given the command. This is an intermitent problem and doesn't seem to be overheating probs, because cpu runs at constant 35-45c. If you have any answers please tell me. It would be of great help.

It was advised from the Microsoft website that I ran ERROR CHECK, along with "disk cleanup" & "defrag" analysis, to see if the machine needs to be defragged.I went along with the advised procedures by Microsoft, because it was said that the computer would run faster. I get the topic title message each time I boot up. The full message is "MSASCui.exe Application error. This application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0000034). Click on OK to terminate the app." One other message also appears each boot-up, beginning with "msmsgs.exe App error" etc. What do I do? I've tried system restore, re-downloading programs that appear to be affected (CCleaner, for example). Thanks in advance.

I was brought a machine the other day from a friend who got it from a house she was cleaning...so of course there is no telling why they left it behind as it is souped up with all the fans, lights, and amd EP-8KHA motherboard with the counter on it...which when I first loaded it..it took forever the boot screens came up then the wonderful....Services.exe - Application Error. The application failed to initialize (0xc0000005). came up. I went through the prompts of ending it...then 20 mins or so later windows finely loaded but the start menu was gone....at first the whole desktop was just the blue screen but my patients in letting it load I finely had icons but still no start menu...I found that someone had removed nortan...so there is no anti-virus on it....well I tried to load AVG on a CD that I burned off my PC and load it...along with Spy-bot, ad-aware SE, and a few other programs to see if I could get some of the tried but true to repair any virus, malware and such off. Well to no avail did any of the programs load...so I had noticed that when I tried going into user accounts to see if this account had admin. privileges the user accounts never loaded. Doing some investigating I found on Microsoft that I could make another account with admin privileges and that it should load....NOPE....I got the account created but when I tried to log into it no windows just a blank screen...Ctrl.Alt.Delete. brings up the task manager on network I see that it says that the INTERNET is run... Answer:Services.exe - Application Error. The Application Failed To Initialize (0xc0000005).

Well...it seems to me (I may be misreading) but that system belonged to a unnamed 3d party, which had the operating license.

If I had found such system, the first thing I would have done is wipe it clean (because I don't like using someone else's data which they've decided to trash) and to give myself a good start at seeing if the system worked properly.

Then I would have done a clean install.

That's the only way that I know how to go from a series of unknowns...to a known good, working system.

Worst case scenario: The system is highly infected.

Best case scenario: The system has O/S or malware problems or a combination thereof.

Okay, please forgive me as I have no idea where to post the issues that I am experiencing. Yes, I did check out previous posts that were similar in nature.

I was on my computer this morning. I shut down the computer and then this evening when I turn the computer on I get the following message:

Application Error The application failed to initialize properly. (0xc00000006). Click ok to terminate the application

I click okay I get a blank desktop - so I cannot run system restore. I have tried starting the computer in safe mode but I get the same message. I do not have any discs to re-install anything because when I bought my laptop I was told that all that stuff is built in. I have a compaq presario, windows xp. I am currently using my husbands laptop to try and figure out what to do. Can someone please help me?

Thank you,

A user is getting a popup warning upon login (see event log entry below).

This started last friday and another Tech ran chkdsk and the user was able to print a few times before they left at end of day, not able to print today. I ran the chkdsk but no luck.

The print spooler service will not start, when forced the popup shows.

I have removed and replaced spoolsv.exe with no luck.

Hi There

I have been given a friends computer to fix. The way he described it, it sounded like it was full of Malware etc, however I haven't been able to start it up as I get the following message appearing when I power it up.

userinit.exe - Application Error The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click ok...

This message appears twice, I then get the wallpaper of the computer up, but nothing else, no icons or task bar. I have tried a wee trip to safe mode but don't get anywhere from that either, just the same message.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers

Colin

OK, this is admittedly a strange one...

I have used an old (probably a 16-bit) application as my time synchronizer this I've used for quite some time. Its name is TimeRC, and is a great synchronizer as it tracks moon phases along with the time (from selectable, multiple potential time servers). After a fatal software crash a couple of weeks ago, I'm in the process of recovery. Attempts to manually launch the EXE, result in a launch-time error stating that the ap is not compatible with my Windows 7 Pro (SP1). Note that I'm running on the same level of Windows that I was using prior to the crash/re-install. I have inhibited compatibility checking (Group Policy adjustment) only to incur the Win32 error.

I've been through the litany of utilities (registry) to correct this situation, and I KNOW that this ap runs just fine on Windows 7 (from pre-crash days). I am at my wits end trying to avoid this situation. I suspect that there is a registry setting difference (now versus pre-crash) about which I'm ignorant, so I'm open to any, and all suggestions.

To use an alternative time synchronizer is not an option...I'm anal about how my system looks, feels, and performs!! I've even tried running in XP mode (virtual machine) to no palatable result. Note that I don't have access to the program's source code, otherwise I could recompile!

There's got to be something that I'm missing.

Color me frustrated,
Randy Reist (Lairbear)

cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly (0x0000142). Click ok to close the application

Anyone know why it happened?

I got this error when I tried to restart to install an update. However, in windows update, it showed I had nothing to update. There was the little yellow shield by the shut down button to indicate it was installing an update when I would shutdown.

I rebooted fine, and CMD works fine. Is it possible windows thought it had to install something, and the installer had already installed the update (I went onto windows update earlier myself to install the windows and silverlight updates) and it bugged because maybe it had to use cmd to execute the update or something?

Answer:cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly

It seems to be happening again, but only when I shutdown when explorer is open. I tried and tested his multiple times. It has only happened after the new silverlight update and kb 30247777 (sorry if the number is wrong) update.

What is causing this?

I'm getting consistent/regular application errors involving "svchost.exe_SysMain" failures. A typical event message looks like the following:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Faulting application svchost.exe_SysMain, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47919291, faulting module sysmain.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791adbd, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000027bc4, process id 0x9b0, application start time 0x01c9c9b411570516.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is followed (in the event log) by a cascade of errors from the "Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider" such as the following:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The ReadyBoost service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The cascade of service/driver errors occurs within 3 to 6 seconds of the initial svchost.exe_SysMain failure and hits a dozen or so other services including but not limited to ...

Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
Offline Files service
ReadyBoost service
Human Interface Device Access service

Answer:Application Error -- Faulting application svchost.exe_SysMain

SYSMAIN is Superfetch.

I see exception code = 0xc0000005. What anti-virus product(s) do you have installed? If "Internet Security" package w/ personal firewall like NIS, KIS, Mcafee, etc... - IT is the likely cause and s/b removed.

I've had an ongoing problem with application errors that say the following:

<app name.exe> - Application Error
The instruction at "0x036...." referenced memory at "0x00000ba0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

I've run HJT before and others couldn't find anything. I've significantly cleaned up my PC, currently uninstalled about 4-5 different spyware/adware programs (at the instruction of a MS tech support person who's trying to help me integrate SP2 back into my c:/ with no luck ). But, someone on the XP forum suggested I run HJT again and copy the log so here it is. If anyone has any other ideas I'm open to listening. I get this error message when exiting out of almost every application or browser I have. Can't seem to figure this one out. Thanks!

I don't see major here...Did you install anything before this happened? Perhaps IE 7.0?

Go to Start->Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit OK. Let it scan. If it finds any files missing/corrupted, it may ask for the Windows CD.

Download LSPFix http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/LSPFix.exe and run it. Check the box that says 'I know what I'm doing'. Click on inetcntrl.dll on the left window and then click on the arrow pointing to the right. Click Finish and follow the prompts.

Hi All,

I recently purchased a new laptop and I have had this error occur almost since the start.

Basically, when I switch on my laptop, both bttray.exe and GrooveMonitor display the exact same error(bar the application name in the title) - I have also tried to install AVG Free which comes up with the same error when trying to start.

The error is:

BTTray.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc150004). Click OK to terminate the application.

I am running Microsoft? Windows Vista? Ultimate 6.0.6001.1.1252.44.1033.18.3066.1940

I haven't tried anything to correct this as I wouldn't know where to start.
Any help anyone can provide would be highly appreciated,

Thank you in advance,

Joe

I have used "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP) listing my ACDC file viewer. I listedACDC because after it completes normally each time, there is an error message that says "Application has stopped working." I no longer want to see this error message.I use ACDC 7 for viewing and editing graphic files, here with this Windows 7 (64) system.

I usually select files with Windows Explorer, and they open using ACDC.

When I close the last file viewed, I get this error message that says "ACDSee 7.0 Application has stopped working"Installations of this ACDC on other Windows 7 computers do not have this issue. So I need to resolve it.

HELP!! I hope somebody can help me with this. I have posted this on Windowsforum.org and CNET Forums and have not had any luck.I get the following error several times a day. What did the other forums already advise you to do?If you have your windows xp cd, restart your computer and boot from the cd. After a few prompts, you'll want to choose to repair windows. There are two different repair options, one is a manual repair and the other is automatic. If you get the wrong one, start over.Back up your data before you do this, just in case something goes wrong. (probably won't go wrong)

When I start up my comp, everything is fine until I reach the XP welcome screen. At this point the 'userinit.exe - user application error' message box appears twice. after clicking ok, windows continues to load but when it gets to the desktop nothing shows up. I can make desktop show up by going into WTM and going to file>new task(run)..., but as soon it loads i get multiple message boxes of 'rundll32.exe - application error'. I get similar messages when I try to run notepad, system restore, and when I double click on the icon to safely remove hardware.

I don't want to reformat my comp again, I've tried running sfc /scannow and its done nothing, tried reinstalling XP but for some reason its missing a file. Any help would be appreciated.
