Preferred Solution: Clean uninstall of program(application)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Clean uninstall of program(application)

I take it you've already tried uninstalling it using add/remove programs. Try deleting all of the data files (C:\Program Files\Whatever it would be it) and then using add/remove programs.

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Are you still having this problem? If so, lets start with running the following tools:
Download Security Check from here.
Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so imme... Read more

I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
I was having problems installing a program (Berlitz German Premier) where the install would just disappear halfway thru the process. A program would not appear under my programs list but when I went to Uninstall an icon for uninstall of the Berlitz software appears for each time I tried to install it. However I get the following error messages (see attached document with screen captures) when I tried to delete it the traditional way.
When I use Windows Install Clean Up utility, the program is nowhere to be found on the list; thus I can't use that program.
Any suggestions for how to get this program removed?

Answer:Program wont uninstall it with Uninstall or Install Cleanup Utility

Is this a windows XP program or one for vista. It looks like a compatibility problem. Check with vendor to see if they have a version for vista. Some older programs will not work with vista and never will. There is an option to run in capatibility mode with vista but does not always work.

I've tried my add-remove programs / the uninstall program neither one works it says I need a some kind of exe player. Answer:uninstall program for free ride games that will not uninstall

Try Revo Uninstaller HERE

Also try Safe Mode to uninstall with the normal Add/Remove or Revo also.

You would also be best to run the Read Me Guide in the malware forum here and then attach the logs to a new thread in the malware forum for the experts there to review as your issues could be malware related, especially as your AVG keeps getting disabled.

A few years ago I had a computer Tech buddy. he cleaned up my computer which would not let me download updates from SPYBOT, or any other anti spyware programs.
He had an ordinary USB cable, and no , it did not have a road apple in the middle for data transfer.
He described it as an ordinary 6 dollar USB cable, and he hooked up my infected computer to his NOT infected computer and ran spybot through the cable and cleaned my computer up.

I tried the same thing.
Unlike when I plug my camera into my computer, and my computer automatically knows it is there, I can rub the two computers together while hooked up, and they still do not know the other is there.
How can I run an anti spyware program through the USB cable and clean one computer up with another computer?

Thank you, Todd

Hi, i have just uninstalled a 2006 version of Norton on my friend's laptop to replace it with an up to date AVG. Revo uninstaller had a few problems uninstalling all of it but seemed to do most of it but i notice that in C Drive>Program files there is still Norton files/folders there, should i delete these files too?Ps- I ran a Malwarebytes scan and found 120 threats (trojans etc), is this an exceptional amount please?

Answer:Delete program files+uninstall or just uninstall?

If you have had problems and cannot be sure all of Norton has gone you can run the Norton Removal Tool click hereAs for the Malware then if the threats are ALL trojans then you need to tighten your security. If they are in the main tracking cookies then that is normal

I installed Autocad a while back but don't use it and want to uninstall.

Opened the ADD/REMOVE tool but Autocad does NOT appear in the list. In fact, there is a huge amount of blank space in the ADD/REMOVE program list just about where Autocad should be in alphabetical order; the remaining programs appear way at the bottom.

I looked through the Autocad install directory but did not find an uninstall executable.

Before I delete the install directory, which i know will leave some things, is there another way around this?

Answer:Cannot uninstall an application

I am kind of guessing.
Can't you use the AutoCAD program CD to install again. The program installer might be able to detect the old program and give you an option to remove it first. Or it might simply install over the old one. Then you can remove it (along with the old).

Some how I can't uninstall my Veoh player beta; I checked every where in the add or remove program, its folder and in my CCleaner but I was not able to find it so I was wondering does anyone know a safe way that won't cause my computer to go bonkers. Thanks for reading my problem.

Answer:Can't uninstall an application

Hi, I believe Veoh Player is a MAC Application?I don't have any experience in MAC's but have been able to find this info,2a. Locate 'VeohPlayer-3.0.0f1.dmg' on your computernote: if you cannot locate the .dmg package, you can download it again here: Once located, open VeohPlayer-3.0.0f1.dmg2c. 'Veoh Player Uninstaller' should be available within the .dmg package, double-click 'Veoh Player Uninstaller' to initiate the uninstallation process2d. Complete the steps within the uninstall wizard to completely remove Veoh Player from your MacIf you've already tried to use the uninstall wizard (which it sounds like you might have), it might be possible you are logged in to your Mac with a restricted user account. If this is the case, try running the uninstaller from an admin account. Another possible solution is to rerun the Veoh Player installer, then the uninstaller.Taken from Veoh ForumsHope this helps

My friend tried to install tiscali broadband on her pc. Its an emachine 900..nothing major but has enough power to run the application according to them. Anyway nothing happened..the modem refused to play.
We were told by the techie on the phone to uninstall and try again but it wouldn' matter what. In the end the techi said tough luck the computer is not recognising the administrator as having the privelege of fully uninstalling and we'd have to contact microsoft or wipe the pc!! he also muttered something about a corrupt file...

Now I have wiped an old pc before and installed XP successfully ( having nowt to lose I decided to try it but is was ages ago) but its different when it's not your own...*gulp*

Has anyone any suggestions we can try. According to the pc there is only one user so I don't get how it won't uninstall! It keeps freezing at the same point and telling us there is a kernell error. We have tried uninstalling evry which way!

Incidentally we installed the broadband software on MY laptop and it worked fine so it's not the disc itself. However it doesn't want to uninstall from mine either...

any suggestions gratefully received espeically if the are idiot proof.

Also any good sites for doing a wip should it come to it?!

Answer:can't uninstall an application...

You could try deleting all references to "tiscali" or whatever the application's name is from the Registry. However, I would only recommend doing this if you're experienced in using Windows Registry. I've uninstalled and cleaned up references to many problem applications, including spyware, like that.

Can any one help, PLEASE? I want to completely uninstall U3 on a new Sandisk USB Flash Drive. I have tried several things but nothing works! I have outlined some of the problems and things I have tried below??..I have just received a 16gb Sandisk USB flash drive with ?U3? capability and want to use it only as a storage device. When I first plugged it in, I was given the choice of installing the software (?You can remove it later? so the darn thing said!) or using it as a storage device. I unwisely decided to try the U3 software and did not like the way it works at all, and so decided to uninstall it.The uninstall setting under ?U3 Launchpad Settings? only disables an auto run setting but then launches a partition on the drive which is shown as a CD drive (drive letter i) and the new storage area (drive letter L) which contains file / folders that I do not want & cannot permanently delete (they keep reinstalling themselves). An additional problem is that once launchpad is running, it keeps opening another flash drive that is also attached to the PC.1. I searched Sandisks website and downloaded an uninstaller???Did not work!2. I searched the internet and tried another uninstaller?again did not work.3. I have tried formatting Drive letter L???Files keep being reinstalled.4. Tried disabling the CD drive (Drive i)???cannot see / access the storage area (drive L)In short, I just want to use it as a storage device and do not want to have to keep t... Read more

Don't know how it will sound but I need a windows application that can track each action while a setup is installing on the machine. Where it is placing and modifying the registry location and keeping the keys. And then give a log file when the installation is done.

This came up as I found many application are not completely uninstalled and keep some traces here and there.
I need a application that can clean every single bit of file for any install.

Answer:Complete uninstall and log for a application?

You can use installwatch to generate a text file with what the installation did. It won't remove anything for you, but you could then create a "cleanup" script based on the information in the text file and run that.

I have a pre-loaded shopping application called Wizlink in my computer. I would like to uninstall it but it doesn't show up in the Uninstall utility in Control Panel. Has anyone heard of Wizlink? I would like to know whether simply deleting it without knowing what the associated files are and if they are going to cause any problems.

I have an HP and this program was pre-installed and linked to a couple of shopping shortcut icons also preloaded on my desktop (eBay etc).

Why can't the Uninstall utility find this pesky program, as I would much rather use an uninstaller than simply delete the program?

I’m trying to find the following:

My computer is a Toshiba A65-S1762 laptop, the operating system is Windows XP Home.

The problem is I need to find a way to uninstall Toshiba Speech System Applications.

1) When I go into Control Panel, Add/Remove Software and attempt to remove the speech applications, I get the following message: “An installation support file could not be installed. The system cannot find the file specified.” So it appears the system does not see the presence of the speech system applications.

2) Yet when I go to the Toshiba utility disk to reinstall the Toshiba Speech Applications I get the following message: “Toshiba Speech System Applications are already installed—Please uninstall and setup again.” This is the message appears after the replacement files are unzipped and ready to be reinstalled on the hard drive.

3) So I have a contradiction. The Control Panel says it cannot find the file. And the Toshiba disk says the file exists, and needs to be uninstalled.

So, i'm kind of stuck. i cannot uninstall, i cannot re-install on top of it...i tried windows install clean up utility & that won't get rid of it.

I assume some file is corrupted somewhere..i don't know what to do.

Firstly, sorry for any possible interruption

I have the following problems and they seem to insist despite many of the solutions I've tried:
It must be something wrong with Control Panel / Programs / Programs and Features:
* Uninstall a program
* Turn windows features on or off
* View installed updates

-> I cant uninstall a program, the uninstall a program does nothing.
-> I'm trying to open "turn windows features on or off" and it says Bad image: -> osbaseln.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
-> Also pressing the "View installed updates" shows the following error: Windows cannot find '::_26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064}....: -//- }' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

I remember having the problem after installing the latest updates. I tried system restore days before the event and the problems still insist. I'm not sure if this is the cause but it was as far as I can remember the last 'modification' for the system. I sure I did a disk defragment, browsing the web but I don't think this will affect the system.

And I'm sure I don't visit any 'weird' sites, mostly university forums, but just to be sure I scanned the whole computer with AVG. It found nothing as it always does. I've never had a virus issue from the first day I installed Windows 7, and it's almost 2 years since then.

I uninstalled everything that I could see that installed that day, but this Reg Pro Cleaner pops every time I turn my computer on in the morning. I uninstalled it, but it is still there somewhere. How can I get it uninstalled? Please help! Thank you!!!!

Hi I seem to be having some real problems in stalling and uninstalling programs.

As soon as I go to do this my pc just restarts every time.

I can't use system restore either as everytime I do I'm told the system was unable to restore to an earlier point.

Apart from that the system runs fine, but I cant install anything.

Any help please???

Hello all, and up front I want to thank you for all you do.

I have an issue with removing reg pro cleaner malware/spyware/virus. I followed the instructions on the net on how to manually remove it and it is no longer listed as a installed program under add or remove programs. This laptop is running Win8.1 btw. All seems to be fine until I reboot, then the Reg Pro Cleaner splash screen shows up again and my Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings is set to a proxy.

I was following the thread from a bit ago and it was working quite well, but I got hung up once I received the file from SystemLook_x64.exe. I attached that file here.

If I could get a custom fix code list for that file to scan with OTL.exe, I believe that will resolve my issues.

Again, thank you for the help.

Answer:Reg Pro Clean Malware will not uninstall.

Hello Agarus,

Welcome to TSG.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from here and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will produce a log called (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run from.
Please copy and paste log back here.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please also paste that into your reply.

Answer:clean uninstall of windows98 OS

You can't really uninstall your operating system unless you updated to it from a previous operating system, and even then, it's generally much more effective and much easier to just reformat and reload the OS, especially if there's nothing on the PC you want to save. However, from the files you listed, it looks like only a couple of drivers are missing: the video driver, and the touchpad or pointer driver (which usually isn't required, but it may be helpful, the touchpad should still work without it). All the files that start with 'ati' are ATI video driver files. If you install the video driver, all the those files will be taken care of, same with the 'ap' files and the touchpad driver. I'm not sure what the others are, but the 'ez' files may be related to hotkeys, or simply a launching application used to start up other programs, but I'm not sure....

Well, that's about all I have for you, I hope it helps!
Good luck!

And i mean 100% clean so that not a single thing that outlook changed in windows 7 is left. Not a single file, no registry entries, nothing. As i said in another thread, my oulook was working find with both email accounts till i messed with a outlook file. Now one of the accounts will not fetch mail from the mail server and i know it's a local issue because 1-it started right when i made that change, and 2-i tried it with outlook on my work pc and it auto configures the account and works perfectly downloading emails like normal. So it's something that happened when i messed with that outlook file and 2 uninstall/reinstalls later it still doesn't work. I deleted all folders after uninstall that i know of, but upon reinstall the accounts still show and my contacts are still there, so i know there are leftover files and of course reg entires. So is there a way to find every single folder, file, and reg entry to delete without deleting anything that is part of the OS that refers to outlook even if it's never been installed on this PC?

Answer:How can i do a clean uninstall of outlook?

I googled this ...Home of Your Uninstaller! - The best uninstaller software.
but not sure it will do anything to the registry.

I downloaded an antivirus program that isn't working, and when I went to add/remove programs and clicked on it I got a message saying it may have been removed already and wouldn't allow me to uninstall. I looked in 'search' and it showed it was still all on my computer. It is 67MB, doesn't work(won't initialize and open), and won't let me uninstall it, or delete it from 'search', ect. Is there a program that can remove applications such as this that have some glitch that won't allow them to be uninstalled normally?

I am an IT Consultant, and am looking to find a good optimization/clean-up program that I can use on my client's machines. Currently, I do all the optimization manually because it seems a lot of the optimization and clean-up programs out there are either not great at doing their job, or aren't transparent in what they do, or potentially cause problems either because they are poorly designed or inundated with spyware/adware/etc.

I think the most important feature of an optimization/clean-up program for me would be one where I maintain total control over what it is doing (i.e. it says it wants to do A, B, C, and then I tell it to only do A and C and it only does A and C and nothing else). Also, I'd want a reputable one that doesn't contain any spyware/adware or anything else that could potentially cause problems. Hopefully it would be able to run on at least WinXP and WinVista (and maybe on Win2000 and Win7 also).

Obviously, the program would have to have the option of doing things such as clean up temp files, defrag, list/diagnose background processes and startup processes that might slow the computer down, and more. I'm thinking I'd prefer the program not do any registry cleaning (or at least give the option to not do this) as its been my experience that allowing a program to "clean" the registry can cause more problems than it solves.

Answer:Searching For Optimization / Clean-Up Application

hi there. for what you are looking for, i would recommend glary utilities above all others.

that being said, no utility is going to do as well as you will. i keep a flash drive with 6-10 utilities and 5 or so batch files that i use to clean up a system. i've also written a little java program that will remove all the temp and temporary internet files on the computer, not just the current user.

no utility does the job as well as i do. that is just a simple fact. i'm cleaner, safer and more thorough. that's what i'd recommend.

Basically I tried to uninstall using the Control Panel/Remove Programs, but this did not work. So I manually deleted the folder that I had installed the application under Program Files/Canon. Now the application still shows in the Control Panel/Remove Programs window. If I try to re-install the software, it says its already installed !!. How do I get out of this, delete the application and all its references, so I can install a clean copy ?

One step there says to reboot the client .. yea, right. I don't know how to do that. Another web page says to use the Control Panel for uninstallation. Hi all,

Today I want to share with you this extension, which allows you to uninstall an extension and clean its stored preferences, its fingerprints, etc.

Original description:

Usually when you remove an extension, the extension does not clear its created preferences from pref.js. This leads to increasing size of pref.js after a few extension has been tried out. All this extension does is to listen to the uninstall event and look for the missing preferences. You will get the list of the preferences in a dialog like window to decide whether you want to keep these preferences or not.

Two main functionalities:
1. Notify you about the left preferences upon an extension removal
2. Allow you to clean your Firefox profile by removal old unused preferences left by your old extensions. To access this, go to the options page.

Note that the extension works well with extensions built on top of addon sdk, however it might have problem deling with traditional extensions. If you have found these sort of issues please open a bug report in Issues · rNeomy/clean-uninstall · GitHub

I have recently bought a new computer running Vista Home Premium Office 2007. It is working well.I now want to uninstall XP Pro from my old computer and install Vista HP. I have Office 2000 on this cmptr. Can any one point me in the direction of a simple but comprehensive article on the procedures to follow, please.

Answer:uninstall XP Pro / Clean install Vista HP

You want to install the Vista you got with the HP machine on a second computer is this right? If that is what you want to do then it won't work, apart from the fact you can only use one copy of an OS on one PC and that to try to install it on second PC is breaking the licencing rules, the other problem even trying it is the Vista disk might be linked to the HP computer with all relevant drivers etc and if so it might cause no end of problems. And you will get no updates for it assumming you do manage to install it, it would fail the authentication and would lock you out of the PC.

Answer:Clean uninstall of printer and driver??

If it is Win 7 and below, I use Revo Uninstaller
Revo shows two entries for my HP printer.
When I click on All Programs, then HP, I have two entries and an uninstall option for each of those. Revo will use the program's uninstall routine first then will follow up by picking the bits and pieces that the program's uninstaller leaves in the registry.

As far as Revo, when you are presented with the registry items, do not blindly delete everything. Only the registry entries in bold should be removed.

Hello :)...
I recently installed some software (opencanvas), and the install seemed less than optimal. i later uninstalled it utilizing revo uninstaller... during the prior installation, it asked for and accepted a serial number for activation of the software...

I then went to reinstall it, and it didn't ask for a serial, and booted into the activated rendition of the software...

I would like to do a clean uninstall, and would like to clean the super secret hidden serial with it...
It creates an unnecessary feeling of clutter...

Call it anal, but this has happened with various other software, and i find it rather irksome when software developers create uninstallers that don't uninstall very intensely...

So, if anyone would care to enlighten as to the whereabouts of these hidden serials / keys, etc..., it would be greatly appreciated :)...

Thank you...!

Answer:XP Hidden Serials for Clean Install / Uninstall...

They're all contained in the registry. Your best bet would be to do a system restore prior to doing that installation and that should restore the registry to its pre-install state.

OS= Windows 7 64-bit, I want to complete remove/uninstall my Amd graphics card drive and Catalyst Control center. But doing it manually as suggested has left me with two folders under C:\AMD\Support, one from a previous installation, the other from a update. Earlier one is "12-6_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql" The latest is "13-1_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql" I was following the steps to through one folder the latest of course and start the setup to remove only component's for the video card. Then my question is when I remove both of these through the setup, you have to be careful that you only remove the ones associate with the graphics card, as I have a amd chip set. I need to remove both but only remove the ones for the AMD Radeon HD 6800 graphics card, then I can reboot and install the latest AMD Catalyst control center and drivers for a clean installation. I need to know what to check in the catalyst uninstall program when it populates, so I only get the software for the graphics card and not other AMD stuff, chipset etc. Thanks in advance GH

Hi -

I had activated the ms office 2010 starter edition on the new pc.

I decided to uninstall.

Cleanly uninstalled MS office 2010.

Next began uninstalling MS office click to start 2010, but due to something (I think I ran into problems iwth my firewall)... the uninstall seemed to go full, but it never actually ended, and would not end, so I had to force a cancel when I shut down.

When I rebooted - MS Office click to start 2010, is still listed in programs and it won't uninstall.

Is there a tool to clean this up?

Should I go back to the recovery restore point after the first clean uninstall, and before the second bad one, and try again? <-- that restores system files, but if only remnants still exist in programs... the uninstall still may not work.

I need to get this cleanly out - in order to install MS Office 2007.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

My Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 won't open, it shows up in the "process" part of the task manager but the program it self doesn't actually show up to me. And if I click it and don't end task it out of task manager my firefox or windows live or some other programs won't run either. I tried to uninstall it but I can't, it will say preparing uninstall, then it'll say "Please wait while windows configures Corel Pain Shop Pro Photo X2" and just sits there like that, and doesn't move forward. It's not technically frozen but it won't do anything else, or cancel out. I can leave it there for 10 hours while using my computer that it won't do anything else.

I asked this question earlier on Y!Answers and someone recommended Revo uninstaller but that didn't uninstall it either, it brought me to the same message "windows is configuring corel ...." and never moved on either.

Can someone tell me whats going on with my Corel and how to make it work? Or at least how to Uninstall it please?

Oh and I have windows vista, and this problem is occurring on my compact labtop, I don't know if that would make a difference or not.
Thanks Ahead!

I'm working on a desktop where any AMD video card will not respond after the standard 20 minute timeout to cut video; the whole machine freezes. It doesn't happen with nVidia cards (at least with a 550ti), so from what I could tell, making sure that all Catalyst-related files were removed from the machine was a good call.

I ran the AMD Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility, and found that it nuked Intel's USB drivers from the machine. It's an AsRock Z87 Pro3. I hooked up a serial mouse, and, using the on-screen keyboard, I downloaded/installed the chipset drivers from AsRock's web site (no joy), then the latest version from Intel, also with no change.

At this point, I'm running sfc /scannow, and if it would help, I will upload the logs.

This machine's specs:
AsRock Z87 Pro3
Intel i5-4670K
AMD Radeon HD7950 3GB (Also tried with Radeon HD7870)
Win7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit

Question 1: Is this most easily fixed with a repair install?
Question 2: Will a sysprep (generalized) fix it?

I have a genuine product key, so either of the above are possibilities at least from an activation perspective.

EDIT/UPDATE: sfc /scannow found no integrity violations.

Answer:Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility nuked Intel USB drivers

My own approach to uninstalling AMD drivers in order to install a newer version is to use Driver Fusion (formerly named Driver Sweeper).

There is a free version, but at its low price I use the "premium" version. It understands drivers.

Never had a problem with it uninstalling anything other than the exact AMD driver package (including Registry entries, etc.) I was trying to remove.
As far as finding drivers for the Intel USB components you saw got unintentionally removed with the AMD clean uninstall you ran, is the problem now that you can't get proper new versions of the deleted drivers reinstalled?

Do you have a "system restore points" you can restore from before you did the AMD uninstall? This should restore the working system at that point.

Do you have any complete "system image" backups you can recover from?

If you're just looking for help finding the Intel USB drivers for the machine, can you post a screenshot of Device Manager -> Properties for the "other devices" needing drivers, Details tab, and post the Hardware ID (second item in the Property dropdown list).

I don't know the difference between an Application and a Program. Thought the Geektionary would help, but didn't find anything there.

I have 2 Dell Windows XP computers.

If I want to copy something such as Microsoft Money from one pc and install it on the other, what exactly do I need to copy? The application or the program?

And where do I find what I need to copy? :confused

Any help in this area is so appreciated.

Answer:Application vs. Program

Well basically an Application is an executable file such as Notepad.exe whereas a program can contain more than one application along with numerous other files such as DLL files.

Since the days when Windows had a registry it is far more difficult just to copy a program as it often has numerous entries in the registry which will point to locations of files within the program - this is why prgrams these days are generally installed. Only if the program contains a small number of files or is a self contained executable (such as Notepad which is both a program and an application rolleyes) can a program be copied.

Hope that's all clear. :confusedrolleyes

Hi all,

I have a USB bluetooth hardware device that I would use it before without problem. When I would put it into the USB port , the machine would install it's program automatically and I could use it easily. This time that I reinstalled Windows 7 I used the Driverpack for installing drivers. That pack installed a program named "Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba" for that USB hardware device. And now neither I can use the bluetooth nor I can uninstall that program. Now I want to remove it but I get error (image 2)!!
Any solution?

Answer:I can't uninstall that program

Do a system restore to a date before you installed the driver pack.

FYI, there is no need to use a driver program with Windows 7

I have a general question for which I'd love to see some good advice. Assuming a program comes with an uninstaller or the program appears in Add or Remove Programs, what's the best way to conduct the uninstall if (a) you are not an expert with computers, and (b) you want to keep the process as simple and safe as possible, yet reasonably effective?

What do you think of this process?:

1. Use the program's uninstaller if it has one. If it doesn't, then use Add or Remove Programs

2. Check C:\Program Files and delete any entry that looks like it's associated with that program

3. Run Ccleaner for the Registry

(PS - I tried posting a similar thread on Wilder's Security Forum because I have Eset Nod32 on my pc...but got no responses as of this posting.)

Actually, the best (not to mention 'safest') answer that I can think of would be to use ZSoft Uninstaller which is a freeware program that is specifically designed for uninstalling programs in an efficient manner. The program keeps track of changes made during software installations; and removes software installations more completely; and even allows the user to choose to "hide entries" from the uninstall list.

This ZSoft Uninstaller program is far better IMO than using the Windows built in uninstaller because loads faster and let you choose if you want to delete some leftover registry entries and the folders in your Application Data.

This particular freeware program consistently gets excellent reviews on software sites that allow "unedited" critical review by users. On many of these larger freeware/shareware websites; such as, and the ZSoft Uninstaller has been downloaded tens of thousands of times.

Additionally, if you don?t like that one, these two Revo Uninstaller 1.42 and MyUninstaller 1.38 are both fr... Read more

Considering two anti-viruses on the same computer can cause issues, and since you no longer have AVG, I would recommend removing it. (It's likely a redistributable to run AVG, therefore unnecessary.)

Hello, I am trying to uninstall Viewpoint, but when I go to do so, I cannot. It says I need to log into an administrator account to do it. The thing is, there is only ONE account on here, and it is THE main admin account. I go to boot into safe mode... and yes, this account is the only account that appears, so this has to be the main admin account. I notice though that if I go to uninstall a different program, there isn't any problem.

Please help, thank you!

I have an old program I had a trial period on for making cd and dvd covers. It is called Click N' Design. I wanted to uninstall it but cannot. The install.log file is gone. I even downloaded the newest version of that program just to uninstall it to see if that would get it, it did not. I also tried CCleaner. I am afraid to just delete it to the recycle bin for fear it will take files I need with it, and mess up my computer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Need Help To Uninstall A Program

Hello Kelkay.I even downloaded the newest version of that program just to uninstall it to see if that would get it, it did not.If you install over the old version in the same directory, then uninstall, the old components should be removed.Since this program is not being used, you can just delete its folder in the "C:\Program Files\Click'N Design".I am afraid to just delete it to the recycle bin for fear it will take files I need with it, and mess up my computer. It should not affect anything but the program in question. If you have previous saved work in that folder, you will obviously need to create a backup first. With Regards,The Panda

I bought a laptop that's not even a month old and has Vista pre-installed and I installed this program called AlienGUIuse, which is a desktop theme changer that uses Alienware icon's and various themes. Anyway, it won't let me uninstall at all, when I goto add/remove programs and click uninstall a form box pops up with tons of question marks. I have this program installed on my other desktop computer running XP, did a couple online scans that didn't find any viruses and it even uninstalled with ease. Is there anyway to uninstall this program from the laptop or are there any good free programs that will uninstall this? Another question, how am I suppose to check my laptop for errors? When I right click the C drive and check for errors, it says "it can't check disk in use". Are there any registry checkers that are compatiable with Vista? I have Registry Mechanic on the XP machine, will it work on here? Sorry for all the questions.

Answer:Program won't let me uninstall at all

Try uninstalling in safe mode..sometimes works..heres another program..

In respect of C: you mean whereby when you tick on "scan for errors" and "automatically fix" in the 2 boxes and it comes up as being in use?

If that is the case, click ok and it will carry out the error checking next time you reboot

right click my computer>properties>tools>check now>error checking>tick both boxes and click...then reboot

Greetings from Vancouver Canada, I have just tried to uninstall a little word processing program named Rough Draft, because it was giving me error messages. But it will not go away, for though it is gone from the control panel, it still appears in All Programs in Start. When I tried to manually delete that folder, it denies me access. There is still a short cut on my desk top for Rough Draft, and if I click it, it still opens Rough Draft, but then that file will not close. Instead, a little window tells me, ?Cannot create file\clip1.rtf? If I re-start my computer, the Rough Draft file will have closed. I am also getting notices on my desk top saying ?Access Violation at address 004848 in Module Rough Draft.exe. Read of address 0000023c? I would be grateful if anyone could help me exorcise this little un-dead Zombie and get on with my life! Thanks, IGY

Answer:program will not uninstall

The program may have had it's own un-installer...
You could re-install it and use it's uninstaller or you could give Revo Uninstaller a try...Free.

Hi, I need some help with a problem I have.
I downloaded and used a program called Instant Lock used to encrypt files.
I locked a folder but forgot that I could only use the shareware version for 30 days. So, after this period when I ran the software I was asked to register in order to access my files. Since I did not want to keep the program I tried to uninstall it to regain access to the locked files but that also failed and I was once again prompted to buy the software.
Does anyone have any idea how to uninstall the software without losing my files?
Did anyone face the same problem?
Thanks for your help.

Our first mistake was installing VISTA, the second was installing NERO 6.6 Version, finding out that it would not work with VISTA, and then uninstalling NERO.
Our problem is this.
NERO is bundled in a program with a title of AHEAD. Along with NERO there are two other programs. One is called "COVER DESIGNER", the second is"NERO PHOTOSNAP". Each of these are 13.6 MB in size.
We went to add/remove programs, seclected NERO, and uninstalled it.
The folder AHEAD is listed in PROGRAMS and contains the two items listed above:i:e Nero Photosnap and Cover Designer.

Although AHEAD is listed in program files on the hard drive, there is NO LISTING on ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

Please help me to get rid of this program AHEAD. We have tried praying but this didnt help.
Weve searched the net but they wont respond.

I recently purchased Civilization IV, great game until I downloaded the new patch for it and it crashed on me. Now I can't even load the game. When I go into add/remove programs it gives me an error message saying that it can not remove it. When I try and download it again, it says that my PC has detected the newer version (patch that crashed) and until I remove that, I can not reinstall. I have tried the same thing in CCleaner. At the add/remove program list, the patch is all that is there (roughly 64mb) However I get the error message saying it can't remove it. Any help would be great. I have been messing with it for about 2 hours. I have removed everything but can't find that 64mb file. Thanks in advance.

Answer:I can't uninstall a program

I found RegSeeker. I searched under Civilization and found 25 entries. I deleted them and now found an INSTALL button available when I autorun the disc. However it still states that I have version 1.74.000, I can't find it.

I went to Add & Remove Programs to uninstall and remove a couple of programs from my computer. However, when I clicked on 'Remove' a message appeared which said that the programs are running and that I need to stop the programs before removal can begin. Thing is, these programs are NOT running, as far as I'm aware. I mean, I can't SEE it running anywhere. I've looked in the Task Manager and I see nothing running - apart from this obviously. What gives ?
Windows XP.

Answer:Can't Uninstall Program

Did you check the Processes tab in Task Manager? Sometimes the process name is somewhat different than the program name.

If you're not sure which process to kill, start up in Safe Mode (hit F8 while booting) and then try to uninstall.

I tried updating my antivirus program and wasn't able to connect to the internet. After several attempts to find the cause, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the program. After re-installing The same thing happened. I uninstalled again, but could not uninstall the firewall portion of the program. Ok so everytime I restart my computer the "extreme messenger for AIM" program shows up, because i'm assuming it's set to show up automatically after restart. But besides that there's a teensy problem. ... A few months ago I actually removed this program...I thought I did. So I open up control panel and go in add/remove programs..extreme messenger is still there but when i go to click change/remove an error message shows up saying, " File "C:\Program Files\Extreme Messenger\unins000.dat" des not exist. Cannot Uninstall." Now did I do something wrong or what? Is here a way to remove it once and for all? It's really annoying and I just want to get rid of it. By the way I'm using a Windows XP machine. Thanks!

You'll need to reinstall it to fix the uninstall.dat file and then uninstall it.

How can I remove this reference in Installed Programs to a program or file that no longer exists on my computer?
Help please, as I cannot upgrade my program until I remove this old link.

Answer:Cannot Uninstall a Program That Isn't There

Asumming the program has already been uninstalled the the registry entry has not been removed
try cleaning the registry with CCleaner
if the program has not been uninstalled and only the unistal file is missing then reinstalling the program to reinstate the uninstall file and then unistall the program as normal.

I have a particular program that I no longer use and wish to uninstall. I went to add/remove programs found the program in the list and clicked "remove". A window popped up that said something like "this option is only available for currently installed programs". I went and found the program in start>programs and fired it up so I know it is installed and works. It doesn't appear it has its own uninstall utility. How do I remove this program?

Answer:Cannot uninstall program

When the add/remove process fails, your only option is to clean it up manually. It then just boils down to how thorough you want to be. Simply deleting the installation folder will remove the files from your HDD. You can also run regedit and remove any references to the app from the registry. But for the most part, simply deleting the folder and the shortcut will suffice and ensure you don't cause any other issues.
