Preferred Solution: Ms-Dos not detecting C:\?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Ms-Dos not detecting C:\?

If c: has been formatted NTFS, then DOS cannot read it without some help (NTFS for DOS or a similar app).

I am having trouble with my windows installation after attempting to install windows 10 a second time on the same machine, but different partition.
I have used a bootable USB device with the windows 10 installation (created with the same machine and the same settings for OS).
After pressing F12 and selecting the USB as the boot device, i started the installation process and got to the stage where you select which drive / partition to install windows. But the list only contained the USB device i used to start the installation process, and the SSD did not appear when tried to refresh / reload drives (or unchecked the "hide incompatible drives" checkbox).
After canceling the installation process, i was met with the following message when rebooting windows:
"Your PC/Device needs to be repaired.
The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.
File: \BCD
Error code: 0x0000034
You'll need to use recovery tools. If you dont have..."

Before the error occured:
I have tried many different things BEFORE i got to the step above where I was able to start the USB stick and consequently ended up with the error.
However when the error occured the BIOS was reset to factory settings and i was able to log in to windows (and listen to spotify for an hour or so) before i tried the install that gave the error:

I tried installing windows 10 with a stick created from another computer. That time I got to the installation process. But when... Read more

my pc has had a 160 gig hdd in it and i recently purchased a 200gb hdd put it in my pc turned it on and its not is detected in my bios and in my hardware list but i cant see it in my computer or when i put in the disk to set up the hard drive it doesnt see it is there...i have it set up in slave position on the cable and have it set to cable select jumper any help please would be greatly apreciated thanks

Answer:PLEASE help hdd not detecting :(

1-Get the latest Bios for ur motherboard.

2- If you are connecting the 160 gig hdd together with ur new 200 gb , then try connecting -only- your new hdd.

3- Just to ensure its not a master/slave issue....unplug all ur CD-ROM(s) drivers ( power and IDE cables ) , in other words , make ONLY ur 200 hdd connected and give it a try.

Hope this helps

Question: Detecting Bad Ram?

I'm not positive I have bad RAM but I rebuilt my computer and noticed a few problems. I didn't put back in my floppy drive so if the programs out there are required to boot I would need one that would work with a bootable cd. Anyways sometimes during Counterstrike or Halflife2 my game will just crash and I get some kinda memory error. I been trying to get Sims Online to work and it just completely freezes while loading. Someone said it could be my memory latency but i'm not sure how to check that, is this signs of bad memory?

Answer:Detecting Bad Ram?

Does your system start to beep in any manner or are you given an error message like "virtual memory dump" ?

Question: Not detecting USB

I have a Wireless USB adapter that I'm trying to get on the network. I had it working fine till a network guy come over and started messing around. Now, when I plug in the adapter, the computer either locks up or just doesn't recognize the new hardware. It's getting power fine though. What should I look for to fix? I've tried the Add Hardware but it doesn't detect it either.

Answer:Not detecting USB

Remove all the drivers, programs, and program file folders associated with that network adapter, then reinstall it according to the instructions provided with it.

Did the network guy you are referring to do anything to your laptop specifically?

Hey Guys,

I have a PC with a 1 TB Sata HDD. I had an old 320gb IDE HDD that I thought I may as well use, So I opened the case plugged in the hdd and while the case was open turned on the pc to test and everything was fine, the hdd was detected and I was able to access it.
Put back on the cover turned on the pc and got suck at start up trying to find the IDE drive. Re opened the case checked cables and tried again...all good!

Now I left the PC for a while and now came back to it, once again I got stuck at the start up while the PC tries to detect any IDE drives. Only way I am able to get to windows is to press F12 to go to startup and select my Sata drive that has windows installed.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?
I didnt touch any of the pins on the IDE drive so I beleive its set to master. I am also running Windows 7.

Answer:Detecting second IDE HDD

Is it the only drive on the IDE cable or is there another drive connected to the same IDE cable? Also is the cable 40 wire or 80 wire? Needs to be 80 wire with the blue end connected to the motherboard and the black end connected to he master drive. Also check the jumper of the drive and verify that it is set to Master, you can also try the Cable Select/CS jumper position.

Question: Not detecting?

Alright I am installing a fresh copy of XP and after I get a certain point I get an error and I seriously have no idea what is wrong.

I press enter then this happens...

Answer:Not detecting?

I'm not sure where the point of confusion is, considering the message clearly states it cannot detect the hard drive. If it's a standard IDE drive, check your cables and make sure the BIOS sees it. If it's a Serial ATA, since it's the AMD platform, you need to hit F6 and load the drivers, even if your not running a RAID setup. Also, if it's SATA, make sure the BIOS is set to use it as a regular drive, and not a RAID array.

You didn't bother to tell us if the drive is PATA or SATA, so our help is limited until we know necessary details.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, and I've been running on 4 GB RAM for a while.

Today I bought four RAM sticks, 2GB each, and installed it in my desktop. but Windows only saw 4 GB of RAM. So I removed two of them, but now Windows only sees 2 GB of RAM!

My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R . And I've installed the sticks on the yellow and red slots as you can see below:

And here are my RAM specs just in case:

Old RAM sticks: DDR2 5-5-5-18 @ 1.80v, 800MHz

New RAM sticks: DDR2 5-5-5 @ 2.20v, 1066MHz

I'm no hardware guy, so if anyone can make sense of this, I'd really appreciate it. And I've missed mentioning anything important, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention that I have the AN11 mobo.

Was also wondering if there was a way to disable the RAID detection. I don't use RAID and probably won't.

I also forgot to mention that its a Seagate 10gb drive. Windows can see the master drive fine (which is a maxtor).

Hey, so I just recently bought:
CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 550 (PC 4400) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail

and installed them both in the DualChannel slots on my Asus A8N-SLI mobo. For some reason however, the computer is only detecting 1GB instead of 2, anybody know why this is?

Answer:Only detecting 1GB...

Right off, make sure they're seated properly, a lot of times new RAM is somewhat hard to push down all the way and you think you got it, but you don't really heh, happened to me before once.

Also after that, possible RAM slot could be dead and that would suck!

In my PC desktop (Dell Dimension E520) I was unable to burn CD. But it could burn DVD and CD-RW. So I added one CD-ROM, but it did not help either. CD-ROM can write on CD-RW but not on CD-R. While I try to write on CD using DVD or CD-ROM it can not detect CD-R. Pop up window gives message to insert CD-R. Interestingly CD-ROM and DVD both can read CD and run CD. Im running windows xp SP2, 2 evga nvidia 8800GT cards, Asus Maximus motherboard, and i have the newest drivers. But i can not get the sli working, ive looked up how to enable sli and its supposed to be in my Nvidia control panel under Manage 3d setting, but theres nothing there that says anything about sli. I have the cards connected to eachother and its setup in the bios to PEG. "PCI EXPRESS GRAPHICS"

Answer:XP not detecting SLI

I've had problems with enabling SLI also. In my case, I started with one card and added a second card about a month later. I had to remove all the drivers with only one card installed. Reboot. Go into BIOS and switch from single card to SLI mode. Shut down. Install 2nd card. Power up and install the latest drivers. Reboot. Go into the NVidia Control Panel and enable the SLI (if it doesn't auto enable). Reboot.
That's what I had to do. I hope this helps.

Question: Not detecting IDE

Hope someone can help with this, last week I kept getting the message "Boot Disk Failure Insert System Disk"
After reading a thread I changed the grey cable from the hard drive to the motherboard and all was fine for a week now I get as far as detecting IDE drive and every thing stops there, also I can't get into the BIOS to see if the drive is reconised
I have a Norton Ghost backup but can't change the boot from HDD to CD as I can't get into the BIOS
Would appreciate any help with this.

Happy New Year

Answer:Not detecting IDE

I think we need a bit more information, 21st.

Let's start with what you were aiming for when you changed the cable connecting your hard drive to the motherboard. What was the objective? Can you put it back the way it was? What happened when you did?

What's the make and model of the motherboard? With that info, someone here can probably tell you how to get into the BIOS to change the boot order if Googling the motherboard model number doesn't get you that information. (BTW -- have you got the motherboard manual around?)

You say that the boot process gets as far as detecting the connected drives. Does the POST successfully identify the drive? What drive is it? (If the BIOS can identify the drive, it may not be a drive cable issue.)

The error message you get usually comes up when the BIOS is able to interrogate the drive, looks for a Master Boot Record, and does not find one that it can boot from. The MBR could have been corrupted or overwritten.

Another possible cause of that error message is a drive controller failure. There are several things you can do to confirm or eliminate that possibility, but I won't offer any until I know what filesystem(s) are on that drive. Without that knowledge, I might suggest something that gets unreliable results and causes you to wipe the drive when it wasn't necessary.

I tried starting s.u.s.e and it asks me for a password but when i enter it it comes up incorrect and when i try it on safemode it asks me for a username that it randomly selected when i was installing it and cannot remember what it was.

Hey guys,

I have a really weird problem where the CD-Rom on my laptop is not detecting CDs when i insert them.

I put the CD into the CD-Rom and i hear it spinning for a minute or so, then it stops. When i go to My Computer and try to open the CD by double clicking the drive, it just opens a blank drive. I have tried multiple types of CDs: games, music, and movie CDs all have the same problem. I know that the CD-Rom itself is not the problem because i had the company, Acer, send me a brand new CD-Rom and the problem persists.

I have tried reinstalling all of the drivers, multiple times with no success.

This has been an ongoing problem for weeks now, and is frustrating because i can not play games, listen to cds, or even watch dvds so if anyone can help, i would greatly appreciate it.

If you right click on the Drive letter and choose properties and click on the AutoPlay tab is the radio button 'prompt me each time for an action' selected?

I'll continue to research this, sounds like something wierd with your OS, guessing Windows here.

EDIT: Something just popped in my head. When you go into that area, check to see if your media (music files - .mp3, etc.) are associated with BlankCD in the windows.

You can check this another way. Open up My Computer and select Tools -> Folder Options. Scroll through the extensions list (.mp3, .avi, etc.) and see if for some reason thy are associated with BlackCD.

I just bought a WD Caviar 80GB 8mb cache HD for my Dell Dimension 4100. I want to have this hard drive set as the slave for my computer; however, it is not being detecting. I connected everything properly with the jumper settings set correctly and it still does not detect.

One wierd thing is, if I set the WD hard drive as the master, it boots directly to a screen saying "insert a disk to A: to boot" or something like that. (although, I realize the HD has nothing on it and has not been formatted), the wierd thing is that it boots directly to this screen and seems to skip loading anything else on the system like the memory, floppy, etc.

Any ideas on what could be the problem here?

First of all hello to all @ Tech Support Guy Forums.

Basicaly I have a Sony VAIO (VGN-AR51M)

I had my laptop sent off for repair as my graphics card is a defect Nvidia chip and it had to be re-balled however you spell it. I now have the laptop back and everything is working absolutely fine.. But! I noticed when I checked in task manager & also the BIOS my laptop was only detecting 1GB of ram in total.. It detected the whole 3GB before just fine.. So i tried a couple of things out..

I took out the 1GB stick of RAM and left the 2GB stick in and it detected the 2GB just fine. I then did the same method with just the 1GB stick left inside and it only detected the 1GB.. (I tried doing both the sticks in each slots each time to check one of the RAM slots wasn't faulty)

The problem I'm having is that when both the sticks of ram (2GB & 1GB) are in the laptop it only detects 1GB of ram.. I have been racking my brains for the past 2 hours wondering how the hell this is possible but it sure as hell is..

So my question to you guys.. How do I fix it?

Answer:3GB RAM only detecting 1GB

Have you called the repair shop and ask them what could be the problem since it was working before you sent it to them?

Sometimes when I boot up my pc it'll slow on detecting IDE Drives, then it'll go again, and then at ask me to boot from cd.

This happens probably 1 out of 20 times I boot up.

I am Windows XP Professional, with Athlon XP Processor 2200. And standard dvd rom drive, and a none working floppy.

Answer:Detecting IDE Drives........

If your bios is looking for 1st boot device as floppy try changing 1st boot as either cd or system hd.

yes i have a 2002 emachines pc with windows xp and my cd-rw is not detecting anything i put in it. it use to play anything before but not it's not. can you tell me whats wrong with it.

Answer:cd-rw isnt detecting

I've had this problem quite a few times. Never really resolved it. Some CD's still do not play correctly.

If it's not playing ANYTHING you might have:

1) A bad IDE cable
2) A bad CD-ROM
3) A bad IDE controller.

Before you jump to that, make sure it doesn't work in DOS. Try booting to the Windows XP restore CD (don't do anything, just see if it boots). This may help clear things up. HOWEVER, it is also possible that you have bootable CD's turned off, which requires going into the BIOS. If you don't mind getting dirty, we can most likely walk you through this, but note that it can be very dangerous.

You could also put a windows 98 boot disk in and see if you can browse a CD in DOS.

Question: Detecting Arrays?

My computer(Details listed in signature) is annoying. I recently repaired missing or corrupted files with the Windows XP CD. Now my computer randomly freezes whenever Im on it. Everytime I restart it, and the last time I restarted it it told me that it was Detecting Arrays..THEN it would restart and go back to detecting arrays. IT keeps doing it over and over again. Then lastly it took me to a screen where i could enter the setup. But i dont want to mess around with *censored* in there. Anyone have any idea what to do?

Answer:Detecting Arrays?;start=allPlease keep your issue in the original thread...You need to determine as was asked if that is a SATA HDD or not.If it isn't there is no need for RAID to be enabled on that machine.Either dis-able it in the BIOS or un-install the drivers.

I've got 4 HD's, two of them hooked up to an ultra100 TX2 card. They worked just fine in my last computer who's motherboard died (They were/are raid'd together, both 60 GB to appear as one 120GB drive). I installed that card and HD's exactly as they were in my old system into my new system. They are detected and everything appears as it should on boot, but when windows loads, the HD's aren't in "my computer". Any ideas?

Hi, I have Panasonic CF-29 that I am trying to fix for my sister. There is no volume. XP does not recognize a sound card. I am not sure if the laptop has a sound card. I never opened up a laptop case. So I prefer not to open the case unless I have to. I bought an external sound card and XP doest recognize it. My PC recognized the sound card. I connected a USB mice and an IPod and XP didn't recognize it either. So there is a problem with USB port. According to ITunes, the previous owner connected their IPod 2 months ago. So the UBS port was working 2 months ago. Any ideas? Will an internal sound card fix the problem? I already updated the chipset. And uninstalled all the devices under USB System controller in Device Manager.

Answer:XP not detecting USB devices

Go to the manufacturer's website and download all drivers and reinstall them. Most (if not all) laptops don't have a replaceable/upgradeable sound card.As for whether or not it already has one, it does:SigmaTel? STAC9751 AC-97 v.2.2 Compliant Audio Codec- Intel? high definition audio compliant

Answer:CD Drive Not Detecting CDs

The optics usually go LONG before the mechanics, which is why the drawer will open and close, but it doesn't work. In the absence of a history of damage to the drive, playing about in the BIOS, etc. then a replacement is in order. A new DVD burner is about $40 delivered.Windows has all the drivers you need. You can try deleting the CDROM entry in Contol Panel/System and rebooting. If that doesn't fix it, then it is time to go shopping. There is a reason those drives have a one year warranty or less.

Hey I just got a new computer. I built it myself so its all from scratch.I guess the only important things you might need to know is that I have: Windows XP Pro,, the story I'll try to make it as clear as possible.I put together the computer, turned it on, inserted XP. It installs XP but when it went to launch XP, my computer shut off due to the processor overheating. It was no big deal just my room is to hot for this computer I have, so I moved downstairs. Well I turn it on, the overheating problem is gone, and I find out that now it doesn't do anything. It goes to a black screen.Being more detailed about whats happens when I turn on the pc. It loads and gives me the DEL for setup and TAB for bios message. Then it lists any Errors that happened. The error is: (a sentence picking out my cd/dvd drive) detect device done, no any drive foundthen the screen is black and nothing happens. So I went into the bios to double check, and sure enough my cd/dvd is there but its not being detected. Nothing is working I am totally lost as to going about finding my drive. I cannot do anything but enter the bios.Any solutions would be welcomed ^_^. Thanks

Hello. I've recently replaced some parts: mobo, processor, ram, and power supply. I've also formatted and freshly installed 64 bit Vista in place of the 32 bit XP I was using previously. My 2 hard drives that i have plugged in are both older ide Seagate hdd's. My new mobo only has sata plugs, so I got an ide > sata converter. Anyway, my computer has no problems with my main hdd, ipod, or external hdd, but it doesn't detect my 2nd(slave) hdd. I tried checking in bios, and it doesn't detect my slave hdd either. I have the jumper thing plugged into the main hdd as the master, and non set up on the slave hdd. Also, if this helps at all, there's a red light that I'm guessing lets you know that the ide > sata converter is working. The main hdd's converter is lit up, while the slave's isn't lit up. The slave hdd's converter lights up when only the converter's plugged into the hdd, but once i plug the power into the hdd, the light turns off. I don't know what the problem could be; the hard drive was working perfectly just hours earlier(on my old set up). Any ideas on what could be wrong and how to fix it?

Answer:Computer Not Detecting HDD

Need a little help visualizing. Did you get a IDE to SATA adapter for each drive or double lead single unit?

If they're independent try swapping them to make sure the adapter is working, try jumpering both as master as there is no Primary/Secondary relationship established by jumpers with SATA. Also check the BIOS to make sure you have the 3/4 SATA controller enabled if you're trying to use one of them.

Hi All,
This is my first post in this am sorry for any mistake(if any).

I have Dell Inspiron 1100 Notebook.
Here is the config of the same:

Processor: Mobile Intel Pentium 4 (2.80GHz)
Memory: 512MB
HDD: 60Gb
CDRW/DVD Combo: Samsung CDRW/DVD SN-324S
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition(5.1) SP2

My problem is that my CDRW/DVD drive is not detecting my DVD....but my Audio/Data/VCDs are being detected correctly.

I installed the Power DVD which came with the Dell, but still its not working.

This problem started sometime back when I had to format my system and reload the Operating System. After doing this, everything went fine, except that whenver I insert a DVD rom, the PowerDVD gives me a message "No File in D:"

I have a CD with some .VOB files (some of my Video Backup).
Those are playing absolutely in when I insert my CD, PowerDVD plays those .VOB files without any problem.
But on inserting a DVD, no files are shown in D:.

Can anybody please suggest whether what could be the problem? Is this related to DVD Drive H/W or the S/W problem?

Hi all,

I have a problem on my hands unfortunately..

I have myself a Lenovo h50-50 and it is listed under my system specs. I went to turn on my PC after replacing my hard drive in it, and no screen whatsoever upon boot. The monitor does not turn on at all. I noticed that my led keyboard and everything else lit up fine and I could tell the PC booted because it took a while of holding my power button to turn it off.

What I've tried:

-put in another gpu
-reseat the camos battery
-change power supply unit
-unplug hard drives

I don't know what's going on because I remove my gpu and the PC boots with the screen lighting up. Everything is normal except for the gpu when I put it in my tower.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will gladly mark this as solved if it is fixed.

I recently installed windows Xp next to my Windows Vista. I plan to use XP for gaming. So anyways, I got everything to work, I got dual boot working. The only big problem I have is that XP doesn't seem to detect any drivers. I tried to manually install some. I succeeded on installing my Nvidia video card driver, was quite easy because it was just .exe.

First of all, I have no sound and internet. So my priority is to get the network card driver to work first, so I don't have to switch from XP to Vista over and over just to go to the internet.

This is what I tried: I went to the website of my computer brand (, I selected my computer (AMILO Desktop Pi 3630)
Then I get a list like this: Flash - Bios, Audio, Chipset, Graphic, Home PC, LAN, WLAN, and Other.
I clicked LAN, and downloaded the driver it said (LAN nForce Realtek RTL8211 (Onboard on MB MS-7504PV, ?ATX, V 1.1, Socket 775) )
I put that on my external harddrive, rebooted my computer, went to XP, I went to Device Manager, rightclicked on what looked the most like a network card (it was something with Ethernet).
What you should know: There were around 4-5 devices with an exclamation mark next to it
I went through the wizard, browsed to my external HD, clicked the .ini file (from the driver I downloaded), it said it was installing some files. It looked good, until it finished, it gave me this error: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot l... Read more

Answer:XP not detecting any drivers

Welcome to TSF!

All of the drivers at that site are for Vista. Doesn't look like they support XP on that system. Only thing they show for XP is System Diagnostics

You'll need to identify the hardware, either from the website or while booted to Vista and then see if you can track down drivers for it from the different manufacturers web sites.

For instance the Ethernet (LAN) is a nForce Realtek RTL8211. The nForce means it's part of the Nvidia chipset, and Realtek won't have drivers for it. So you'll need to go to Nvidia's web site.

I believe this is the driver for your chipset (and LAN/SATA)

You can try to search for the Audio driver (alc azalia 888s), or search Google.

i recently uninstalled web n walk usb device from my computer.
and when i tried to restore it wont dectect it.
i have tried various methods, but it does not seem to be anywhere.
the device is working i have checked it on another computer.
i have a feeling i may have removed the usb mass storage device by mistake.
any idea

Answer:detecting a new device

Check the USB device section in Device Manager and see if any of the entries there have a red "x" or a yellow "!" mark next to them. I suspect they will probably show as alright. To update your USB connections right click on each entry in the USB section and select "Uninstall" (answer yes or okay to the prompt that comes up). Once they are all gone close device manager and reboot. Windows will reinstall them for you. Let us know if that gets it going.

If I change the CD/DVD in my drive, it doesn't notice. Opening it just shows what was on the previous one.

I've tried uninstalling them and letting XP refind them, which it does, but the problem persists.

In W98SE, There was a "Remount" option, when right-xlixking on the relevant drive.

A) Is there any way of getting this "Remount" thing for XP, like a DOS command, or summat?

B) Any ideas as to how this little quirk may be fixed?

Answer:XP Pro not detecting CD change.

I used to have the same problem exactly. What worked for me was to turn autoplay back on. (It was disabled because I found it annoying).

Umm pc-doctor? I'm sorry if my response is inadequate, because I don't have much knowledge in this field. Also is there an option for "repair" or something like that?

I even unable to open my computer. when i tried to give print out it is not working but when i posed anti virus i can give print outs. internet is working fine. please help me to resolve this issue.

Answer:lan is not detecting in one particular user

Can you access the LAN with the Built In Administrator account? Not the new user you created? Is this computer part of a Domain? Or is it part of a P2P network? Or is there a Group Policy on this computer?

I have been told that if I install a new motherboard and video card I can boot up with my present hard drive with XP Home SP2 on it and Windows will detect the new hardware and ask for the drivers and then I will be good to go. Is this correct or is it just a wishful urban legend?

I have just installed Windows 7 to my second hard drive. On my first hard drive I have got Windows XP. When I go to the OS selection on bootup windows7 isnt there.

So i have to disable my first ahrd drive in order to load up windows 7 because wints xp is set to default.

If I load windows xp and try to choose windows 7 as default OS in the GUI I cannot because Windows 7 is not in the drop down list...

Anyone know how I can manually make windows 7 the default OS so I can enable my first hard drive, because I want to have access to the data on there whilst using windows 7.

Answer:BIOS not detecting W7

There should have been an option path at the time of install of 7 to setup the dual boot. Now you will have to either manually modify the bootloader (bcdedit) to include both, use a different bootloader (GRUB) or what I would try becasue I'm lazy is the EasyBCD bootloader modification program ( even though 7 is not officially supported yet.

Thx, Dave

I'm getting these doubble underline ads on this Tech Support Forum site, I can't move the mouse across the screen without popups everywhere. I know there was an addon in Firefox that did that, but I got rid of that a long time ago and there is no addon in Firefox to justify it. What's up with that? Any way to turn that off?

Hey all, this is my first post

I got a real strange issue (I have chronic bad luck)

Basically, I have a 760 GTX graphics card (Nvidia) which is working fine on my 32 inch samsung led tv (model number ue32f5000 )

Everything was working fine, turned it off went to work came back and now the tv cannot detect my pc and vise versa my graphics card is not detecting my tv.

Now this is really strange, I have used a different HDMI cable, still the same problem. I have used another TV with the same lead in the same port of my tv which works fine, as does my tv works fine in the output of 2 other devices (ps3)

Now I know for a fact the the HDMI outputs on my tv work as does the inputs in my graphics card. but for some reason my 32 inch TV in suddenly not linking to my graphics card. The 2 cables do defiantly work as i tested them, the 2 hdmi outputs on the tv defiantly work because i tested them and all inputs on my graphics card defiantly work because i tested them.

Now sorry guys, I am seriously baffled as to why this certain tv is not detecting my graphics card and vise versa, it was working fine before till today.

If you can solve this baffling problem, i will be delighted!

Oh and my operating system is windows 7 64 bit.

Oh also I would also like to add that i have tried to use the rigurosly detect tv in the nvidia control panel, just to clear that up, it did not work at all by the way

Answer:TV suddenly not detecting PC

Will state the obvious, but have you tried rebooting?

Question: Detecting Proxy

I have an IBM thinkpad that is running XP pro SP2. Has all updates. I'm running behind a firewall that needs a proxy to accesss the internet. Whenever I open Ie, the proxy is always being detcted even with IE pages already open. I varified the proxy address is correct and i'm definately going out on the correct port. I'm connected through a network that has DHCP. Any thoughts?

Answer:Detecting Proxy

Are the settings for your proxy server set manually within IE or are they automatically detected? If they are manually set then you should disable the option to automatically detect proxy settings within IE. With that option disabled IE should no longer display the "detecting proxy server settings" message. If your not sure where to check this open IE and just click on TOOLS and then choose INTERNET OPTIONS. Next click on the CONNECTIONS tab and then click on the LAN SETTINGS button. The options I'm referring to are within here.

Ok well my system was working fine, I had 2gig of ram and I decided to buy an extra 2gig. So I install them, then when I turned my pc back on it got stuck on a screen saying ''detecting arrays'' and stuff about rom bio or something. I took out the ram that I just bought to see if it would be back to normal but same problem. I took out the older ones and just put the new ones and still stuck on the same page. I really don't know what to do. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

my system-->

I upgraded the power supply and graphic card. But like I said it was working fine before I try to add more ram.

Answer:Need help--Detecting arrays

Ok I think my problem is that I tried to put to much ram. Im running on a 32bit vista, my system says max is 4gig but at some places I read that 3gig was max.

I still don't know how to fix it. Can anyone help me please?

Question: detecting array

ok so it started like this... I have 2 hard drives in my computer. All was working fine till a couple months ago and it would not recognize the 2nd drive(thats where i keep all my important family pics/videos, etc). So I get the bright idea to go into bios and see if I could "fix" the problem... changed the RAID setting to enable, saved and exited... Now I'm getting the message "MediaSheild ROM BIOS 6.84 Detecting Array" with the curser flashing... It will not let me F2 to get into BIOS to change it.. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!

Answer:detecting array

So if you power on your computer and IMMEDIATELY start hitting the F2 key repeatedly... it does not eventually go to the BIOS? I know by enabling a RAID array, it will always show that RAID message before going to the BIOS. But as long as you hit the right key at the right time (which is long before the RAID message appears) while booting, you will get in.

Hey all,

I have a Samsung SD-616Q running on WinXP, but im trying to run a burnt DVD that a mate made for me.

Unfortunately, the bloody thing just wont read. It blinks and blinks for a while, then stops. If I attempt to see the contents of the drive in explorer, it says 'Please insert a disk into drive D:'

I should note that normal dvd's work fine, im just having trouble getting it to read burnt ones.

Answer:DVD drive not detecting DVD's

many dvd-rom drives do not read burnt dvd's. should not have a problem working in a dvd-rw drive. I have the same problem with mine, doesnt work in the rom but does in the rw
