Can't load specific websites.

Question: Can't load specific websites.

This started happening earlier today. I can't access some sites. There doesn't seem to be a pattern between them.

3 sites I can't load and get a connection time out error:

I've already tried flushing the dns, changing dns manually, and resetting router to factor defaults. The websites will load if I view them via proxy.

I am using Firefox. The same problem occurs if I use Chrome.

This is also affecting other PCs on the network.

Preferred Solution: Can't load specific websites.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Can't load specific websites.

Just tried power cycling the router. No effect.

I'm having a problem with my internet connection. Specific websites won't load on any browser. I've checked them at work, and the links definitely exist and are functional, but my home connection won't load them. It's only one or two, but it's extremely frustrating. I know they're not blocked by my provider, because there's no illegal activity involved, and in any case one used to load and suddenly stopped working. Any suggestions?

Answer:Specific websites won't load

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

Type (or copy/paste) cmd /k ipconfig /flushdns

Press Enter.

I can't open www.shaw.ca, www.canadapost.ca, or www.superpages.ca on my computer. Firefox shows the error "The operation timed out when attempting to connect to XXX". All other webpages behave perfectly fine.

I've tried connecting on a few different browsers and none of them work, so it's not a browser problem. Also tried shutting down firewalls and antiviruses; no change. It's not a problem with the website itself because my friend's house can load the websites just fine.

Also the problem seems to be with the domain names: start.shaw.ca works and www.superpages.com works too.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Help! Specific websites won't load

Most likely it is not a problem with your computer; but with your ISP. For some reason the connection between the backbone you are on and the one these .ca sites are on is not functioning and you cannot get through.

I have 3 computers, 2 of which I'm having no issues with at the moment. The third pc cannot load 2 specific websites that the others have no problem with. I have checked all of my internet settings but really don't know what I should be looking for. I tried turning off all of the security programs like Windows Firewall, virus scan, popup blockers, ad blockers etc. With no effect. I even booted into safe mode with networking support and it still won't load those pages! Anyone have any suggestions?

This is a Dell laptop running XP Pro. We have a wireless network and cable internet.

Thanks tons!

A couple of months ago I switched Internet providers - from 12MB AT&T U-Verse to 50MB Time Warner Cable. While I was with AT&T, I leased a 2Wire modem/router from them (I don't recall the model) and never encountered any problems using the Internet. When I started with TWC, I purchased my own modem - a brand new Netgear N300 (aka C3000 or C3000-100NAS) - to avoid the monthly lease fees.

For the most part, it has worked out fine. However, I have occasionally come across websites that either will not load, or will only load in part (the site text will load but no images or formatting, for example).

For a while I thought nothing of it - just hiccups in the service or whatever. But there is one specific website that has never loaded at all - every attempt results in a "Connection timed out" error. The site is www.videogamer.com. It is where I have typically gone to get my daily gaming news and reviews.

At first I assumed it was a problem with TWC's network. But after an hour-long support call with them, I learned that this was not the case, because while the site will not load if I am using a typical web browser (I tested Firefox, Pale Moon, Chrome, and Internet Explorer), it will load just fine if I use Tor Browser. It will also load if I use the browser on my Playstation 3 console, and when using the default browser on my Android smartphone.
In the process of trying to solve this problem with TWC support, my Netgear N300 modem stopped working - It kept re... Read more

Answer:Modem issue - Specific websites will only load on certain browsers

The site you linked to doesn't host most of its images. They come from pro-gmedia.com and subdomains which might be blocked.
To test this you could try accessing the site via an online proxy like : Free Web Proxy: Fast & Anonymous Web Browsing
Enter the full URL (http://www.videogamer.com) in the text field then click the GO button.

Have your tried changing your DNS server ? That's the only thing I can think of with such symptoms : the DNS by default in your router somehow filters some hostnames.

You can try Google's Public DNS. It can be set up on each PC individually bypassing the router. More info with a quick guide on how to set it up on Windows 7 : https://developers.google.com/speed/...dns/docs/using

Here is a tutorial describing how to configure your DNS with OpenDNS, it's also valid for Google's, just make sure to put in the right DNS server IPs (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) : DNS Addressing - How to Change in Windows 7

So, I've tried loading one specific site and it gives a loading indicator on the tab and just keeps on going. I've tried it on other browsers, no solution. I've tried clearing caches and cookies, no solution. I've also tried it on other computers on the same local connection and they don't work as well. I've done some research about DNS but I'm not 100% sure what to do. I know i have to check my ipconfig but I don't know what to look for. Please help.

PS i also saw something about HOST.files and deleting specific ones. Not sure if that doesn't apply since it's not just the single computer, the problem applies to all computers so I'm assuming its a ISP or DNS problem.

Our users have IE 7 and 8. We keep them locked into place by pointing IE to our firewall product (tools > internet options > connections > lan settings), so that only approved sites are the ones that our people can access. In the last few days, several of them report issues with specific websites loading very slowly - load times of over an hour just to get the log-in screen to appear.Troubleshooting Steps:1.) Unchecked the "use proxy server for your LAN" under the IE menus---> Site resolves instantly, as it should---> This pointed me to the direction that perhaps the site wasn't configured for our firewall2.) Re-checked the "use proxy server" box, and specifically configured the site in our firewall---> Site continues to resolve slowly, with the same load times as before performing step 1That would normally indicate that the problem is on the vendor's end. Something may be wrong with their site. And that's the line of thought I was pursuing until I was reported back to that the users are having the same problem on other websites. These new websites they're having problems with are, and have been for a long time, configured properly in the firewall.I'm not sure what my next step is to pursue. What am I looking for now? I don't know enough about networking to figure out where to track next.

Answer:Users are unable to load websites - no error, just 1-hour+ load times for pages

Hi, over the last two weeks or so I'm having occasional problems connecting to certain websites. The websites just time out after a minute or so and this lasts anywhere between 30 mins- 5 hours, then they'll work fine again. I can access the websites fine at work and other people can access them at the same time I'm having problems, so I'm fairly sure that the problem is my end, not the websites'. The websites concerned are mainly social networking sites like livejournal, but sometimes sites like photobucket and thetrainline.

I have a laptop and a PC at home and both are having trouble connecting to websites when this error occurs. The laptop is running XP Pro and the PC is running XP Home. The laptop is on a wireless connection and the PC is wired. Some people suggested that the problem could be due to my antiviruses, however the laptop runs Avast and the PC is running AVG. I have switched off both of those plus the firewalls and the error still occurs. The error also occurs whether I use Firefox, IE or Chrome, so all the above seems to elimiate any issues with my computers which may be causing it.

My wireless router is a Siemens Gigaset SE587. I've reset the router with no luck. At this point I'm out of ideas, can anyone help?

Answer:Specific websites timing out

hello again guys! I REALLY hope that you can help. I am having problems with my 14yr old son using the internet to search for 'gang related topics', specifically on You Tube. Can I block him accessing specific sites like this? I'm sure you'll think I'm really thick, but i'm not good at all of this stuff. I've got parental controls on the laptop, but it's not enough and to be honest the whole 'gang' this scares me witless. Please help if you can! THANKYOU :o)

Answer:Blocking of specific websites

You can block any particular site by using the "Hosts" file in Windows, but you do need to know the actual URL to block. For example you could globally block "youtube.com", but blocking a particular type of file within YouTube wouldn't be so easy. Some routers also have the facility to block access to websites whose URLs you enter. The "Hosts" file is a plain text file with no extension and is located in the path:C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\HostsTo block YouTube, you would add the line:127.0.0.1 youtube.com The effect of this is to divert requests for that address instead to 127.0.0.1, which is the loopback address to your own PC where, of course, the page doesn't exist.

hmm. seems to work for me. might want to download and run ccleaner. will empty out temporary internet files. but it might be deeper than that. but ccleaner is a start.

for a little test. open up a command prompt (window key + r , then type cmd or command)
and type:
ping www.mysummercamps.com
or
ping www.kidscamps.com

also, while you're here type the command
ipconfig /flushdns

might fix it.

I'm the admin of a website.

A large group of my members are having a problem connect to the site (it just times out like the URL doesn't even exist).

I went through all the fundamental troubleshooting (reset computer/router, different browsers, etc.)

I came to the conclusion the their ISP was blocking the site, so I asked them to try to connect on a proxy.
It worked! So I told them to contact their ISP.

They took their proxy off, and they could then connect again...?

So what setting does having a proxy reset that allowed them to get back on the site?

-Thanks in advance

Answer:Can't connect to some specific websites

Are you SURE your IP blocking controls have not erroneously blocked the site? Have one of them do a TRACERT to the site. If it dies within their ISP, then it's an ISP issue. However, if it makes it all the way to the hop before your site, it's your site that is the issue.

I'm running Windows ME, with IE 6. I am having trouble connecting to links on ESPN's website. I keep getting the message "the page cannot be displayed" in IE. A specific example is when I click on story links on the right side of the main page. Clicking these links gives me the error message. However, I found a fix to these links. It would work if I erased the first part of the address and left the second part... But it's a pain in the rear to do it for every link, every day.

So does anyone know what might be the problem? For what it's worth, I have downloaded and tried using firefox on the same links, and have gotten an alert that says "the connection was refused when attempting to contact ......"(dots added because I'm not allowed to post url's). I have adaware and spybot, and appear to be spyware-free. And to my knowledge, I am virus-free. I suspect i may have host file problems, through my research on the web. But I don't know how to fix this. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Problem: Interminent access to ebay with error message http 400, when I do get in, I log in, then try to navigate and get the error message. Also noticed that it doesn't fully load the front page, icons spinning, then says its done.
Some other websites that were fine now I cannot navigate smoothly and get the same error message.
Tried the following: powercycling the modem/router, checked for blocked websites - none, tried Firefox - same result, ran anti-virus - none, ran spamware - cleared, Ccleaner which cleans out temp files, etc...
Tried with a Mac on same router/modem/service and it works fine.

Hello hello. I have tried everything I can think of but I still can't fix this little problem.

I have SBC Yahoo DSL but use Firefox as my browser. I have a home network set up, our Dell laptop now has Firefox 2.0.0.3 and but until yesterday had 2.0.0.2 and our Dell PC has an older version of firefox (1.8.something.something).

Since late last week, Firefox won't open certain websites... AOL mail, Yahoo, Gap.com, Myspace to name a few (on both computers). I get an error message that says the connection has "timed out" Also, certain websites won't open correctly and take a LONG time to open... Netflix, Dell drivers and download page are examples. The pages open with the text there but no images and everything looks funky.

Everything worked fine last week, no problems at all. Here's what I've tried:

Uninstalled Firefox and tried to go into IE to open pages, IE wouldn't work.
Reinstalled Firefox (newest version) and deleted old version... wouldn't work.

okay, this is a weird problem. I can use my internet just fine except for two specific web-sites (that I know of) that crash when I try to access them. those two websites are: what.cd and utorrent.com. when I type them into the search bar, I get this:

This webpage is not available
Google Chrome could not load the webpage because what.cd took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.

I know it's not the website because other people I know can access them just fine.
but there is an even stranger problem. When I do a google search in the URL bar, usually it works fine. but when I include the words "torrent" or "what" in the search, the browser crashes the same way. I can search for anything else and it works fine. But if one of those two words "torrent", or "what" is included, it crashes.................wat

Two websites that I use are suddenly taking a few mins longer to open than usual, and when they do eventually open everything is listed in bullet points to the left, layout is all in a list. Pictures are not opening. It's happening on hotmail and another site I use. I know it's not a problem with the website as my husband can access my hotmail account without any problems from his work. I have done a system restore, deleted all history under Internet Tools (using IE), Have tried using Chrome instead. Scanned, changed security levels. Checked with my Internet Connection Provider.

The library I work for wishes to create specific user accounts for those who aren't old enough to use social networking sites. We'd like one dedicated account with security measures in place to prevent them from accessing sites like Myspace, Facebook, etc. We log the user in for each session so we could see the patrons birthday on the card and give them the appropriate account.I've yet to run across anything that'd allow me to block access to sites for a specific account. I've found a few that allow an override password but I'd rather have something more hands off. So, if anyone has a suggestion, I'd be greatful.Edit: Moved topic to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Machine - Sony Vaio PCG-K115M, 1.5 yrs old, running XP home/office 2003

I recently started getting the standard 'page cannot be displayed message' when visiting certain sites, eg itunes, yahoo and work webmail service. have not knowingly installed any software to this end, and have checked security settings/restricted sites in IE tools but nothing shows. another laptop on same wireless network can access them fine so this is not a problem with the sites being down.

Don't know what to do next, would be pleased to get any advice.

Answer:access to specific websites barred for no reason

Have you run any AntiVirus/Spyware scans since you had this problem? Check out the spyware forums and go through their steps if you haven't already. It sounds like a problem on the laptop rather than the network to me.

Hi guys,

I have noticed that websites such as LinkedIn and youtube are no longer being loaded like used to. There's a whole list of websites that I am not able to access. Here's what happens when I try to go to linkedin:

And the page fails to load with youtube:

Is this a virus? I have seen no other signs of it. I haven't attended any dodgy websites. Everything else is working fine. The problem isn't browser-specific or even network specific (tried it on different wifi networks).

Seems like it may just be my computer system.

Any thoughts and advice?

Answer:Some websites loading incompletely or not at all(non browser-specific)

It could be a number of these. Could you try scanning your computer with Malwarebytes. This is a free malware scanner program.

Can I also ask you to ping linkedin.

Go to start > Search 'cmd' > Hit Enter > In command prompt type in > ping -t (www.)linkedin.com. remove the () and let me know if it drops off etc...

Also provide your speeds for your internet connection you can do this by going to Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test

I've read articles of people not being able to connect to specific websites and I am running onto the same problems but I think a bit worse. None of the devices connected to the network are able to access specific sites such as qmxonline.com and anovos.com which are up and running according to iidrn.com and are accessible when I connect to a different network such as my phone's 4G. I believe that the problem lies within my ISP or router but I can't figure out which one and how to fix it. Some say that it may be the DNS and I've tried the Google Public DNS and resetting the systems but none seem to work. If you could help it would be very much appreciated as this problem has been going on for quite some time now.

For some months now, my laptop at home freezes for 10-60 seconds or so when it is in the process of opening the website of our national broadcast at deredactie.be , occasionally also at the website of my bank. This happens only during first access of that website for that day (or after restart), after that there's no freezing problem when accessing or using that website. It is also independent of how many other websites I've already opened, and it is not showing any problems with other websites (e.g. CNN). I also do not get any unwanted pop-ups and such.

I'm using Windows Vista Home premium (32 bits) and Firefox. My laptop is more than 6 years old, so I'm not expecting any miracles. Curious to see if and how this can be solved.

Already many thanks!

Answer:Certain websites wont load, or they take very long to load.

It appears that you have already posted a hijackthis log here. Please be patient while waiting for assistance. HJT Helpers are all volunteers regardless where you post a log. While waiting for a response, you should not ask for help elsewhere or make changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc.) Any modifications you make on your own can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, following advice outside of that post may cause confusion for the HJT Helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. If you had posted your log here, similar rules would apply. We would ask that you be patient while awaiting a reply and refrain from asking for help elsewhere. If you followed any other advice already, please ensure you inform the HJT Team Helper when they respond to assist you with your log. This will help them know what has been done and they probably will ask for an updated log.To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. I use firefox as my browser. Lately some websites either won't load or take in upwards of 20 minutes. My virus scanner keeps catching virus's. I have run my virus scanner(CA VIRUS SCANNER), ad-aware, spybot, spysubtract, and superantispyware, they all cuaght something the first run through but now come up clean. i then browsed the forums here and found a similar post. I tried some of the suggestions there, which were to repair my network connection in the control panel, and to set firefox's network connection to autodetect, these seem to have helped but some sites are still slow particularly pogo games(my wife)pogo.com loads up fine it's the popup game windows that have the problem. thanks for any help.

i have 3 computers at my workplace

1 running windows 7, the other 2 are on XP

i want to block one of the computers from using any website but just GMAIL

I also want to monitor internet activities on the XP computers

Please suggest how to do this.
Thanks

Answer:How do i restrict internet use to specific websites and monitoring the activities

A general suggestion is to buy a server and the necessary software. As that is probably prohibitively expensive for a 3 personal computer sized company, I suggest holding a short meeting with your employees to discuss company rules and policies for computer and internet usage. Hand them a written copy. Get their signature on a statement that they understand the rules and that dismissal is a possible consequence of failure to abide by them. Outlaw deleting or hiding browser history, and at random times take a look at each computer.

Windows 7 includes a "Parental Controls" feature (see Control Panel). You probably have a router, and it may have some access control capability.

Anything else would require special "spying" software. As we cannot determine the intent we do not offer advice on such activity.

But so far, I believe it only closes in certain websites such as Yahoo Games and Myspace Login page. But this happens not just in Internet explorer, also in Mozilla Firefox. I've checked with Ried in the Hijackthis forum and the logs came out clean so he directed me to this part of the forum for help.

Ok, so this is a weird one that I've never ran into before and I wasn't sure how to search for anything related to this as the problem is very difficult to explain but here goes.

I have a local domain setup at the office running off of SBS 2008. Before a couple weeks ago, all the client machines were Windows XP. We purchased 3 new workstation from dell preloaded with Windows 7 Pro. Since we hadn't had any Vista/7 machines on the network connected to the domain no group policies had ever been made. I was able to setup the firewall and internet explorer settings just fine. But we are still having serious issues that I can't seem to find any information on.

1) I've found certain website that are blocked only on the windows 7 machines: dell.com and mozilla.org are some examples. I thought dell might have been related to mixed content but that didnt seem to fix it. Also, it doesn't actually block the site in any way that shows an kind of error, it just never loads. The title of the page will change and then just sit forever.

2) Other application that require internet don't work. I was able to download the firefox installer from another computer and transfer it to one of the windows 7 machines. But once it tries to download the program it never starts. Neither does it time out or say it doesn't have an internet connection.

3) I was able to take one of the machines home and the internet worked perfect. I installed firefox on the machine everything was good. But then when I went ... Read more

Some websites, for example:
http://www.colonialfirstate.com.au/ and
http://postbillpay.com.au

do not load in my newly installed IE7.

The error message says:

This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
More information

But the same websites load OK in Firefox.

I have fiddled around with the security settings etc., but still no joy.

I did not have such a problem with IE6.

I also use Maxthon Browser from time to time. But since that is based on IE engine, even that will not show some websites.

Can somebody suggest a solution?

The only Firewall that I use is WinPatrol. I clean up Malware once in a while with AdAware SE.

Answer:Websites Will Not Load in IE, But Will Load in Firefox

Hello, This is not an answer to your question, I just wanted to say that 'WinPatrol' is not a firewall.

I was wondering if there are video cards that specialize in taking more load off the cpu than others. I have heard nvidia cards are better at this than ati. Any opinions?

Answer:Any specific GPU that takes more load off CPU?

If you think about it, graphics cards specialize and do all the graphics work, while the CPU will do everything else. It would be extremely inefficient for the CPU to try and process the GPU's load, and incredibly difficult to make it work vice versa.

There are physX cards, which really don't help a whole lot, are rare to find now, and were expensive.
NVidia cards also support using a GPU as a physX card.
Not very useful IMO,

try installing Java, Perhaps with all the resetting java is not installed or out of date. Does the website come up, or you just cannot log in to the site once it opens? Make sure you have the date and time set correct and you are in the right time zone or secure Https sites will not let you log in. Depends what the issue is exactly?

Hey folks!

I have a very odd issue that I cannot seem to figure out how to solve....memory tells me I think have had this problem before with this website about 2 years ago, but I cannot remember for the life of me how I solved it.

Basically, the issue is this: I am an avid rally fan and usually check World Rally Championship every day. However, a few days ago I noticed that I would get a "The Connection Was Reset" error in Firefox 4.0.1 when trying to connect to it. The first time, I just thought maybe the site was down. The second day, I thought it was odd so I opened up IE9 and tried it there....it will not load in IE9 either. Then I thought, this is really odd, and tried it on my netbook and then and subsequently the other netbook and 2 other desktops in our house. The three desktops are connected to the net through our router via DHCP. The netbooks are on the same router via wireless DHCP. I tried restarting and resetting the router in case that was the issue, no go - internet works flawlessly on all the other computers and my desktop EXCEPT for that ONE site on my desktop.

On both netbooks and the other 2 desktops, World Rally Championship loaded perfectly, so it must be an issue with my PC. I tried clearing the caches and cookies for both browsers, and I restarted this machine twice to no avail.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Answer:Specific site won't load...?

I cannot access World Rally Championship with IE9, Firefox, or Opera. http://isitup.org/ says it is up. Was unable to access it through a web proxy as well. A Guy

All,

Hi from a new user and thanks in advance for any help!

My daughter is doing some eBay posting for a friend, pulling information from a specific site, gemnation.com. Everything is working fine, until one day the site will not load on the PC she has been using. IE exhibits a generic "Internet Explorer cannot display the webite" error.

This PC is running XP, IE 7, and McAfee Security.

I tried to access the site via other browsers (the PC has FireFox and Safari installed as well) with the same result. We have two other PCs on the same router, both of which will run the site just fine, so it's not being blocked at the router level.

I tried clearing the cache, temp files, etc. No dice. I also disabled the firewall in McAfee, with no luck.

Any advice? Thanks again.

It's been a while since I had a computer problem, but now I have one so I return to this lovely forum in the hope someone can help me.I'm quite a Nirvana fan, so I often check http://www.livenirvana.com. Yesterday at home I checked it on my mobile using my wifi. However since this morning it does not want to load (not on my computer, nor on my girlfriends, but it does work on my mobile very slowly ). Internet is working fine and I can browse other websites. First I checked if it was me specifically: http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ and it turned out to be indeed me .Then using google I came across: http://www.pagewash.com/ which does make the site (livenirvana) work for me.Also if I use my neighbours wireless connection (unprotected) the page will load just fine.I've tried ipconfig /flushdns but that didn't work.I've tried IExplorer and Opera both don't workI've tried deleting cookies also didn't work.I've tried disabeling my firewall, virusscanner etc. also didn't workI've updated my Java (read somewhere that might be the cause) also didn't work.Anyone has any suggestions?

Answer:Specific Page Won't Load

Have tried checking your security settings? You may be accidently blocking it. Try going to Internet Options\Privacy Tab\Sites and scroll through the list to see if you accidently blocked it there. If you did highlight the site and click Allow. Otherwise see if you have the Content Advisor on in Internet Options. If you do add your site to allowed sites there.
Good Luck.

Hey there, Just going to preface this with the fact that I know very little about computers! I have a game website that I would like to use but every time I try to load it I get the "cannot load webpage" message. Problem is that the page loads just fine until that comes up, and then it is removed from the screen. The website is working because I can use it on my phone, and the saved links on my computer (used to play on the site a bunch with my son but haven't for nearly a year) work just fine to play the games. It is just the website I cannot seem to access without explorer booting me off!

The diagnose problem thing says to turn on the Tcp setting but that just made things worse so I found out how to turn it off and did so.

I think I am running explorer 7 on the basic Windows Vista (yes I know it all sucks but I'm broke, and don't know any different!)

My son asked today if we could play games together again because he missed doing that so I would REALLY like to get this working!

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Hi, this is my very first time using this forum and i really need some help with my issue.
Very recently the following page www.kinguin.net stopped working on my pc.

The issue is only specific to this page, and using the same router on my laptop i am able to see the page without any trouble.

On my pc however, the page loads up distorted with no images and a bunch of line codes.

Im using Google Chrome and tried clear cache on both Chrome and IE. No diferences made. Using the Chromes Developer Tools. Tried also disable all extensions repair Chrome and even Unnisnstall and Re-Installed it.

The page error can be seen here http://i.imgur.com/lNDAACU.jpg and here using Chromes Developer Console i notice it shows alot of errors http://i.imgur.com/o5lGcsg.jpg .

Since i can display the page on my laptop, i found this very weird to happen.

I Apreciate your advice and help

There is specific website that I use every day and yesterday it just stopped working.

At first it was just loading it slowly but still I could reach first page and login on my account (not more then that). Today it doesn't even loading first page. My friends who also using this website saying that it works fine for them.

At home we have 2 laptops and one PC. Same problem on all of them, also tried on different web browsers like Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. I can surf on internet, go on any website, it works fine just not this one specific website (http://www.footstar.org/).

I tried to fix somehow but without any success.
Anyone has any idea what could be a problem and solution for that?

If this can help. I use Windows 10. If there is any other information that can be usefull just let me know.

This one is really puzzling me. When I log into Evony.Com, "and I click on play Evonyweb," and I press select world, it says loading game. However an icon shows up that looks like a "play button" and in the top right corner I see a key and if you click on it, it says the following plug ins were blocked on this page. I have to click run all plug ins this time in order for the game to start? I only have this problem with this one game/site? Please Help

Hello. I recently went to click on a link of a website that was already open in a tab in firefox and it did not work properly. It took a long time to load and when it did it had clearly not loaded properly. The background was completely white and the only thing on the screen was text. No pictures or graphics of any sort. The text was either black, blue, or purple, the blue and purple text being unused and used links respectively. All of the text was aligned to the left of the screen.

I tried refreshing and opening a link to another tab but that resulted in the same problem. Any activity based on this tab, such as refreshing or clicking on another link, caused firefox to really slow down and to become somewhat unresponsive - the highlighting seen when mousing over any icon or menu in the toolbar of firefox didn't happen, but the buttons and menus did actually work. I could stop the activity of the tab in question, do any of those same things in another tab, and firefox functioned properly. I just realized that nothing has to actually be loading in that tab; when it was idle I clicked on it and for several seconds everything became unresponsive, and when I could click back to any other tab, everything was normal again.

So far no other website has caused a similar problem.

Last year I had a similar problem but it wasn't limited to one particular site.

I looked through my older topics and went through some of the steps after running some of the more obvious (to me) ac... Read more

Answer:One specific website won't load/display properly

If it is limited only to that one website, then I would suspect that's where the problem lies. Just because what its doing is similar to a situation you encountered in the past which involved multiple websites does not necessarily mean this time its malware related.

Do you have the same problem when trying to reach the site through Internet Explorer?

Another thing to try is to access that site from another computer to see if you encounter the same thing. If you cannot' access the site from another machine that would tend to confirm, its probably the website. Of, course, it could also be a problem with the link itself (i.e. broken) or how it was placed on the page by those who maintain the site providing that link.

Wireless connection - Netgear router and adapter

My computer and internet seem to function totally normally, but one website will not load. It's www.detroitsymphony.com - I've used it often in the past, but as of a few weeks ago, I get the "waiting for...." indication in the lower left corner for several minutes and even when that changes to "Done", the page is blank. No error messages or anything - just no page. This happens on any browser - I even downloaded Chrome and tried it there.

I checked the site on other computers elsewhere, and it seems to work fine. I can't seem to find a single other website that gives me any problems, so I'm sort of baffled. Searching the forum found many posts about internet not working totally, but I couldn't find anyone with this particular problem. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Solved: One specific website doesn't load

Try booting in Safe Mode with Networking and then accessing the website.

If you can access it that way, you might need to try a Clean Boot to isolate a culprit.

If you can't access the website in Safe Mode with Networking, try the following procedure.

Refresh your DNS by following these steps:

Click Start > Run > type CMD

In the command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns

Reboot.

If no luck,

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 or SP3.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

If still no joy,

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.
Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

When I log into my work's website, I can log in on the main page and navigate it fine. However, there are several pages within my company website that load extremely slowly. I mean, they take over 10 minutes to load. The pages are my company mail inbox, my schedule, and the page where I bid for my schedule. Maybe some other pages. It's always these pages, and they are always slow. All other web pages load fine. My internet speeds run fine on test and in game. Uploads and downloads work fine.

This problem exists on Firefox, IE, and Opera. If I reboot my machine into linux and access the pages in Firefox there, they load fine. On Windows 7 though, they don't.

I've done the usual suspects such as clearing all history, cache, cookies, etc. I've deleted the cookie and cache files. I've uninstalled Firefox and started with a fresh install. I've also deleted all security certificates in Firefox.

My hosts file contains only the following:

Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost
I've disabled my antivirus (NOD32 Anti-virus) and shut down my firewall (Comodo Firewall). I do not have Windows Firewall running.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem, or at least troubleshoot it further?

Answer:Specific web pages only load slowly on all browsers

Hi everyone.

I'm building a website right now and since yesterday, it seems that it won't load on my laptop, and only my laptop. I use a wifi network with this laptop.
The website is http://infocom.ca/rea-pathologies, and the error it gives is "Connection timed out".
I tried on Chrome, Firefox and Explorer, and I get the same problem

Here is a list of everything I tried, and all the information I could gather :
I tried loading the website on my smartphone (Galaxy S4), both with LTE and Wifi, it worked both times.
I tried loading the website on my laptop using my smartphone as a wifi access point, and it worked.
I tried pinging the website, it works. I tried loading the IP it returns in Chrome, but it won't work.
I tried rebooting my modem and my router, without success.
I reconfigured my router (D-Link, DIR-655), without success.
I checked the HOST file in system32, there is nothing there related to infocom.ca. I tried forcing the proper IP on infocom.ca, no success.
I tried ipconfig /flushdns, /release, /renew
I tried using both auto-detect DNS, OpenDNS and Google DNS in my IPv4 and IPv6 settings, with no success.
I tried the diagnostic tool, tells me everyting is fine.
I tried turning off Windows firewall, nothing happened.
I scanned my PC with Anti Spywares, without results
I tried everything the user SLOOKSTERPSV suggests on this post, without success: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1750739.html

One specific website is reallly slow to load - 5 minutes or more - using chrome and firefox browser.  Will not connect at all using IE9. I downloaded/updated JAVA and confirmed it is working,  I ran a full system Malwarebytes scan with no issues, did full system norton scan, I restored advanced settings in IE and reset the IE settings to their default settings and I made sure SSL 3.0 is checked. I also tried adding the web address to "trusted settings".  No luck. All other secure websites I try work fine in all browsers. I even tried restoring windows  to a earlier setting a couple weeks ago with no luck. Just seems odd that same issue with all browsers.   ThanksEdit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

My friend has HP laptop Win 7 4GB Dual intel, IE9. For two years or more she has subscribed online to our local weekly newspaper. Each Thursday morn she gets an email that contains the link to the latest issue. One click has always opened the paper. Yesterday it would not open and produced only a pale blue screen. Retries didn't work. She forwarded the link to me and it opened immediately (Win 8, IE10), and its mobile version opened on my iPad. She forwarded it to a friend (Win XP) and it would not open. She had accidentally downloaded Chrome recently so I copied the link and pasted it into Chrome and it opened perfectly. I cleaned her comp with Malware Bytes, MS Safety, MS Malicious Removal, and MS Security Essentials, etc. as she had just had her yahoo email hacked. Nothing found by any of them. Still wouldn't load. I restored back 5 days to before the latest MS update. Still no results. Suggestions appreciated.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit on a new PC I built. When I try to load some websites, on any browser, I get an Error: Connection Timed Out, and often my internet will crash until I run diagnostics, at which point the connection returns. The one specific website I know this happens with, though it has happened with several others, is nexusmods.com. The issue doesn't just affect my computer, as the entire router loses internet when this happens. The strange thing is nexusmods works occasionally. It loaded today so I thought I was in the clear, but then when I tried to log in, same problem, and it hasn't loaded since then. I have scanned for viruses using Rkill, Malwarebytes, ADW Cleaner, and Rogue Killer, none of which found anything, changed to Google's public DNS, and flushed DNS. The problem still persists.

So I've been having this problem for about a month now where a few sites, like WindowsCentral, won't load in Edge. Instead, Edge downloads a .htm file. These websites load perfectly fine in IE. I have this problem on both my laptop (15063) and my work PC (14393) but not on mobile (14393). Switching off my add blocker doesn't help (uBlock Origin).
Any thoughts on how to fix this would be really appreciated!

Answer:Edge doesn't load specific sites but downloads instead

Try to uninstall Ublock completely. If that works, then use Adguard instead.

I have two HDD, 1) 200GB and the 2) 80GB, I have windows xp installed on both. None of the two windows have logon password and each windows has one account only, plus the guest account.

I used the winodws Xp in the 80GB to take ownership of the user profile in Documents and Setting that is in the 200GB HDD, now I booted the computer with the 200GB HDD and it doesn't load the original user profile it made a new one.

So now I have two profiles in one user account:

Say the original profile is named A and the new one is named B, I want to delete B and make windows load A.

Thanks

Answer:how can I make windows load a specific user profile?

Hi JustinK. . .

Some clarification, please...

1. Did you install the SAME XP OS on both (using the same product code)?
2. Is your intent to have one HDD mirror the other?
3. Did you use an Admin account to take ownership of the user profile in the "Documents and Settings" on the 200GB HDD?
4. What is the purpose for taking ownership?
5. Can these 2 HDD's see each other and are they interactive with each other?
6. Do they each have an independant system registry, if you know?

Thanks. . .

I've just got the internet and find that both internet explorer and firefox don't show some sites (eg won't show microsoft, some anti-virus software companies etc) yet it shows most others I go to, even obsure ones. I've tried disabling both the windows and the router firewall. I've dropped all the security levels in the Privacy and Security tabs of the Internet Options. I have SSL3 and TLS enabled. I've allowed ActiveXs to run (with prompt). I've checked C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and find the only line is: 127.0.0.1 localhostI've tried all the above simultansously but the microsoft website will not load. I can't believe it and many others have been offline for many days now. Very little software has been loaded on this laptop and it has no history of surfing and this problem I noticed almost immediately after connecting up to my router for the first time. I downloaded version 8 of IE from microsft (from a different computer a week earlier). I then downloaded the most recent firefox from here upon my struggles with IE. I'm running Windows XP Professional service pack 2. please plase helpregardspaul

After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

I'm running Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] on an HP 2000 Notebook. I have a Belkin router (not sure what model).
This problem started while I was watching a Twitch.tv VOD that stopped playing. When I refreshed the page, it wouldn't load at all, and now neither Twitch, Twitter, nor Yahoo websites will load up at all. This is happening on both computers in my house. When I try to browse the sites on my smartphone through mobile data, they work fine, but through wifi they will not load.
I was recent;y able to access a Twitch page by using the secure.twitch.tv link format for some reason, but the VOD still doesn't load. Not sure what that signifies.
I tried a few things I read about online to try and fix it (changing IPv4 settings, manually entering DNS server, disabling all website filters, ....), but nothing has helped.
I'm not sure if these things are important, a few things I noticed from an"ipconfig /all" run that might be abnormal (I'm not super tech savvy) are: DHCP is not enabled for my Wireless LAN adapter, IP Routing is not enabled, and WINS Proxy is not enabled.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

For about 2 months now, my computer will enter a phase where sometimes it will work and sometimes it refuses to load any website, will then work properly, and will then refuse to load websites again. The problem persists for several days, sometimes beyond a week, then disappears for a while before coming back

I've tried using different browsers, updating my browsers, fixing the browser settings as each one suggests, updating Windows, and restarting the computer. The last time this happened, updating Windows fixed it. Now it's returned.

This is the error message I get when it refuses to load a site on Google Chrome:

This webpage is not available

The connection to ***whatever website URL I'm on*** was interrupted.

Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu > Options > Under the Hood > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN"... Hi there,

I came across this forum simply by searching google and finding another thread where someone had a similar problem (http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=136340). Anyway, certain websites simply won't load on my computer - this includes Facebook, the "sell" pages of ebay, windows updates and aol.co.uk.

I only recently set up new broadband after moving house, from TalkTalk. Although my computer is c. 6 years old, on my old broadband before moving all sites worked fine. When I set TalkTalk up, attempted installation of their anti-virus software made my computer cycle on restart (restarting again every time the desktop appeared). It wouldn't even start on Safe Mode, and in the end the only thing I could do was System Recovery. After this, installing broadband went fine, and I didn't attempt to use their anti-virus software again. However, the websites listed above have never worked on my connection, although otherwise the connection is fine. I have checked the following:

Checked Java is up to date
Tried disabling all firewall and antivirus software - still wouldn't load
Tried using different browsers (IE and Firefox)
Restarting modem, restarting computer etc.
Cleared cache, cookies etc

I then went through all the basic maintenance tasks on this forum, before following the malware guide on the thread listed above. I have attached my logs for Counterspy, Runkeys, Shownew and HijackThis. However, I couldn't get Bi... Read more

Just earlier today, for some reason, I am unable to get onto some sites because they just won't load at all, the main ones being Wikipedia, other wiki and wikia based sites and just some random sites when searching for stuff on google. They take forever to load and then come up with the message 'oops! Google chrome could not open the site'. Other than that, most sites are working perfectly fine and are running at a normal speed, but some are a bit slow with loading, like IGN, Gamespot and the American site for yahoo answers.

I've tried two different internet browsers (google chrome and internet explorer), but that doesn't work. It DEFINITELY has nothing to do with my computer because I've tried both my computers and they both have the same issue (even my PS3 couldn't load wikipedia). I tried connecting my DS to my internet earlier as well and couldn't connect (kept getting the 62010 error code) the first two times (never happened before).

So I think it must be something to do with my internet connection. I've checked my internet speed and that hasn't changed, it's just some sites refuse to load or take forever to load, very annoying. And I tried loading wikipedia and other sites that wouldn't load on my computer(s) on my phone and they all loaded fine, and since my phone is using the mobile internet, there must be something wrong with my router/internet connection.

The only thing I can think of is that my br... Read more

This has been happening recently... most of the websites I try to go to won't load at all, or simply state at the bottom of Firefox that it's transferring data or whatever.

Some of the websites that will never load are... yahoo answers, last.fm, facebook... Others will give me a 404 error message until I refresh the internet page a dozen times.

It definitely is not a problem with my ISP.. ever since I've bought my Toshiba (with Windows Vista Home Basic, eek), I've been having problems.

I don't know what to do. suggestions? :B

Hello, I seem to be having problems with either my internet connection or software on my computer, hopefully someone out there can help me figure out what the problem is.

I recently just purchased a sager notebook, and by recent I mean I just got this sucker 3 days ago. Since then, I have been unable to access a handful of websites unless I use a proxy to tunnel them. Even then I am unable to download several files from said sites because they simply will not load.

I first noticed this when I tried to access Firefox.com. Having used Mozilla on my previous computer, I decided to switch over to it again on my new one. At least I thought I was going to. The website simply will not load, and continuously times out. When I attempt to diagnose the problem, I receive a message stating "Your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource is not responding."

I immediately assumed it was Internet Explorer, my current browser at the time, was restricting me from accessing the site. I disabled my firewall and played around with my privacy settings, but to no avail it remained unreachable. So, I searched and searched and found a Developer Preview version of Mozilla, and downloaded it hoping the problem would not persist. To my surprise, I was still unable to access the website even with a seperate browser.

So I unistalled the Mozilla crap and returned to using Internet Explorer, albeit begrudgingly, until I could fix the problem.

I am using Windows 8 64-bit and I am having an issue loading certain websites. Twitter and Facebook are the main two. I have tried Chrome, Firefox, IE, Chrome portable, Firefox portable and qupzilla portable. I tried using https as well. http://en-gb.facebook.com loads but once I enter my login details it just comes up with "problem loading page" again. I have run Malwarebytes and SUPERantispyware I have cleared cache's etc and nothing seems to be helping. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm almost at my wits end with it.
I should add I've reset my router, restored factory settings but they seem to work on other devices (android phone, old laptop etc).

Answer:Can't get some websites to load

Check and make sure that time/date settings were accurate in your computer. If the problem still persists, try uninstalling Firefox/Chrome and install it back again.

Post back for further help!!

Yesterday, the computer froze up while an employee was searching the web. She said it wouldn't do anything (ctrl-alt-del, start button, shutdown, nothing...). She unplugged the PC to get it to turn off and when she powered it back on the computer would boot but it slowed everything to a crawl. When I got to work I noticed 2 little harddrive icons in the lower right and if you hovered over them it said "The data in volume is being verified & repaired." We have a raid 1 configuration on this system so I thought maybe one of the drives had failed. I let it run for about 4 hours and it never finished, so I hard reset it by holding in the power button and booted it into safe mode. The Intel Storage Matrix finished verifying the harddrives (it only took about an hour an half in safe mode) and it said everything was fine. The computer also ran like normal in safe mode, but when I booted it back up in normal mode after about 10 seconds everything slowed to a crawl and then froze even though it wasn't verifying the harddrives anymore. So I followed the steps in "READ & RUN ME FIRST". That seems to have fixed the slowness but now some websites won't load at all or very slowly, others run just fine. If I try to go to www.google.com the browser doesn't do anything at all. If I try to load www.majorgeeks.com it loads but it takes a few minutes to load the page. If I type in the IP address for google it seems to load just fine tho... Read more

Hi everyone,

I've the issue stated in the title. Some websites load and others time out. I've been googling for two days trying all sorts of solutions but none of it helped. Before I just wipe and reinstall Windows I want to try this as a last resort, partly because I'm not even convinced it's actually in the computer itself. Here's what I know so far:

- The problem started at an indefinate time: it's the computer of my parents and they can't tell me more than "it suddenly stopped!"
- The pages that aren't loading don't share any commons grounds: they're news pages, forums, secured websites, a bit of everything.
- Some pages load slowly instead of not at all.
- The computer runs on Windows 7 Home edition and is up to date.
- The computer is wired to a switch which leads into a router, which connects to the modem.
- The problem occurs with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox.
- The problem is not affecting any other computers on the same network.
- I can ping some of the "unreachable" websites just fine. Typing in their IP address does not load the page.

I've tried the following things that didn't work:

- Deleting temporary internet files and resetting safety settings to normal.
- Disabling the firewall
- Clearing the DNS cache
- Giving the computer a static IP address
- Changing the DNS server manually (to that of google: 8.8.8.8)
- Uninstalling and reinstalling browsers and related applications like Flash and Java.
- Disabling all startup... Read more

Answer:Some websites don't load

Do the pages that dont load on that computer, load on other devices?  It could be server error, or it could be your ISP, somehow throttling your connection to certain sites.  You have quite the comprehensive list of things you have already tried.
Im not exactly sure what to suggest for you to do.  Good luck.

I am new to the forums myself, but I know I shouldn't post duplicate issues in a new thread, but this is only to help avoid confusion. I am experiencing the same problems as skizz on a previous post. Some websites just will not load and I get the same error message of page cannot be displayed.

Yesterday I ran a virus scan and deleted several viruses. After I did that, i noticed that my internet was running slower than normal. I figured i would wait until today to see if it would work better...it didn't. In fact, it got worse. Now websites like facebook and ebay take forever to load, and when they finally load, they load incorrectly. Today I ran more virus scans but they found nothing. I tried a system restore but that didn't work either. I also tried other browsers, but they all had the same problem.

I also tried booting up in safe mode and everything worked when i did that. I've seen other people with this same problem but all of the solutions that they were given didn't work.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

There are two websites in our computer lab that will not load. I have tried several different browsers, turned off firewalls, scanned for viruses and spyware and emptying temp files, etc. I can ping the addresses, but when I do a traceroute they time out from the 5th hop forward. We can visit any other website, it is just these two sites. The server in the lab is running Windows 2003 Standard Edition, and there are three routers. There twenty computers in the lab all using Windows XP. We could use some help, since the one website is ours (www.campbellfordcrc.ca) and the other is a website that the public uses constantly for job searches (www.ospreycareers.com).

The only spyware that was found was one called AutomatedSurf. However, the antispyware program did remove it.

Thanks

Doesn't appear that fix helps this time. This problem is on both my desktop and laptop. Both are IE7. Desktop running XP, laptop running Vista.
