Windows Live Essentials 2012 Movie Maker

Question: Windows Live Essentials 2012 Movie Maker

Hello,

I just downloaded and installed Windows Live Essentials 2012. When I go to launch Movie Maker I get the following error.

I did make sure my computer meets the requirements for Movie maker and my DirectX is version 11 with my DDI Version being 10.

I tried uninstalling Movie maker and reinstalling it but no fix.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have attempted to get Photo Gallery and Movie Maker on my Win 7 Pro computer. Installed Windows Essentials 2012 which is supposed to include these two programs. The only program that installs and shows up on the computer is Microsoft One Drive. Did a search of the computer but did not find either program. A number of websites discuss this problem and offer solutions. I've tried all of the solutions. None have worked for me. My computer specs are more than what is required for these two programs, so that isn't the problem. I'm beginning to wonder if these programs have been eliminated by Microsoft.

Any ideas would be welcomed.

Hi...
I'm relatively new to Win 7 Home Premium (64-bit) and have just discovered it doesn't include Windows Movie Maker which was on XP.
However, I noticed online Windows Movie Maker 2.6 is supposed to work with the above.
It downloaded fine but when I went into 'All Programs' and clicked on Windows Movie Maker, nothing happened.
I noticed also the icon next to it was a blank one and not a 'Windows' one.
Checking Add/Remove (I actually use Revo) the program was definitely installed.
Nevertheless, I uninstalled then reinstalled. No joy. I then uninstalled it completely.
I then noticed Windows Live Essentials contains Movie Maker.
I selected only the 'Photo Gallery & Movie Maker' from the list and downloaded.
However, the same thing happened as with Windows Movie Maker 2.6. Also, same blank icon.
I must be missing something simple here.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks

Answer:Windows Live Essentials - Movie Maker problem

Please make sure you have uninstalled earlier ver of WIndows Live Essentiuals fully. Also make sure your Windows is uptodate with all latest updates.
Now pl go here Windows Live Essentials: Movie Maker and install the MovieMaker and also the WL Photo Gallery , Both gets installed together. And check if it works.
Else you can download the offline Installer (Which contains all Live Essentials) but while installing you can select only the MovieMaker and Photo Gallery. http://g.live.com/1rewlive4-all/en/wlsetup-all.exe

Answer:Windows Live Essentials - Movie Maker problem

Could be a general problem with the icon cache database. Try this.....
Close all folder windows that are currently open.
Launch Task Manager using the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC key sequence, or by running taskmgr.exe.
In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.
Click the End process button when asked for confirmation.
From the File menu of Task Manager, select New Task (Run?)
Type CMD.EXE, and click OK
In the Command Prompt window, type the commands one by one and press ENTER after each command: Make sure you leave the spaces.
CD /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local
DEL IconCache.db /a
EXIT
In Task Manager, click File, select New Task (Run?)
Type EXPLORER.EXE, and click OK.

A few days ago I was installed Windows Live Movie Maker 2012 on my notebook. Being having enough powerful hardware to meet its requirements for running. It don't start. I don't know what is the problem with that program. I have installed it along with Photo Gallery. Photo Gallery works quite well. But Movie Maker is not starting. It shows the error as shown in the image 1. I even try to update the driver of graphics card but it is already latest version. Can anyone know what preventing the Movie Maker from starting. Any help will be worth.

Image 1

Photo Gallery is working without any problem or trouble. You can see it in the image 2

Image 2

Answer:Windows Live Movie Maker 2012 Not Starting

Have you tried to reinstall the program? Possibly uninstalling then reinstalling? I know this is part of Microsoft Essentials now.

The error also states that this may have to do with bad drivers. Have you checked those as well?
If all else fails try running the program in Compatibility Mode.

Hope I'm on the correct forum for my question. If not, my apologies.

I currently have Windows 7 which came with Windows Live Movie Maker 2011. The default format is WMV.

I read that the default format for Windows Live Movie Maker 2012, is MP4, which I would prefer.

I don't see any way to "upgrade" directly from 2011 to 2012, but I did find the MS download site for WLMM 2012 at Get Movie Maker - Microsoft Windows

My question is this: Can I just download and install 2012 over 2011, or must I uninstall 2011 first?

Thanks very much...

Answer:Want to upgrade Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 to 2012

You can just install over. Your download will actually offer to install all of Windows Live Essentials, but you can choose to install only Windows Live Movie Maker (and Windows Photo Gallery which must also be installed with it).

Be aware that if you use Live Mesh, it will be removed and replaced with Skydrive

Quote:
There is one change though that some users are discovering by unhappy surprise. Microsoft is replacing Live Mesh with SkyDrive, its cloud storage service, on the PCs of those who install Windows Essentials 2012. (Microsoft acknowledges this when users click on a link in the original post that says it leads to more information on what's new in Movie Maker and Photo Gallery.)

Quote:
Here are Microsoft's warnings on what Live Mesh users should expect if they download Windows Essentials 2012:

"If you have Windows Live Mesh installed, it will automatically be removed if you install the new Movie Maker or Photo Gallery (available as part of Windows Essentials 2012).

"Microsoft SkyDrive will be installed in place of Windows Live Mesh. To sync folders from the cloud to all of your PCs, you will need to install SkyDrive on all of your PCs or Macs."

Source

However, Live Mesh was supposed to end on 2/13/2013, so it may be a moot point

Hi I am trying to join video clips together with Windows Movie Maker 2012 in Windows 7 64bit.
The 12 files are MP4 and I can play, trim, join or do anything within WMM. I can also save the file as a project then go back to it and play it through continuously as one video.
When I save the file as a movie using the recommended settings it takes hour to save then I get the following message.
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."
The player obviously support the file type as I can play the videos either individually or consecutively within WMM as a project and the codec used to compress must in WMM as I saved the project as a move from there.
Why can WMM not the movie that it created? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi everyone.

I've been happily using Windows Movie Maker in Windows 7 with .mpg files. I'm halfway through a project and was recently advised to move to Windows 8/8.1 so I backed everything up, saved my project and video files and took the plunge with Windows 8.

Having installed Movie Maker I loaded in my project. I had to repoint to my video files but that was fine. However, although I can hear the sound, I now can't see any video! On checking with Microsoft I should be able to use .mpg files so can anyone advise me as to what I'm doing wrong? I've tried re-naming to .mov and .mpeg, all to no avail, yet they all play fine in Media Player.

I really don't want to have to re-install Windows 7 but if I have to then so be it.

Many thanks.

Answer:Windows 8.1 and Movie Maker 2012

It probably has to do with the missing codecs that is removed in Windows 8.1 unless you buy the media center pack for $10 USD.

Using Windows Live Movie Maker you can create a good looking videos by making use of your digital Video clips or Photos and publish it on the web to share among your family, friends or even the whole world .
Windows Live Movie Maker wave 4 offers you various built-in settings that you can choose from when you?re ready to save your movie. But you can also save your movie with a custom setting you create. This lets you save your movie at a quality level and size that meets your specific needs and believe me creating a Custom setting is a very easy process. How it works
1. Download and Install Windows Live Wave 4
2. Run Windows Live Movie Maker from Start ?> Program files ?> Windows Live
3. After launch of Windows Live Movie Maker, Add some Videos or Photos and create your beautiful memories using tools provided
4. After everything done, now its time to saving your videos using custom setting
5. Click on the Home tab, in the Sharing group, click Save movie, and then click Create custom setting.
6. To create a new custom setting that?s based on an existing setting, click the Setting list, and then choose an existing setting.
7. Enter the Name of your new setting in the Name Box
8. Enter the values for your Video resolutions in Width and Height Field. * It always better to use same size as of the source video size.
9. Enter the Bit rate for your project in Bite Rate Box. (The Bit rate of a movie is the key to the quality of the audio and video of that ... Read more

Hello all,

I tried searching all over the internet for a solution to this problem without luck. I was happily using Windows Movie Maker 2012 on Windows 8 for several days, when all of a sudden the sound stopped working. Whenever I try to play a clip from a video camera, a former project, or a finished movie file on my computer, the video plays but with absolutely no sound. I have tried putting in mp3 songs, and those do not play with sound either. I can see and single out the audio tracks to clips, but I cannot hear anything. Sound on the computer is working fine, and the clips play in Windows Media Player and other media players. I have tried uninstalling Windows Movie Maker and reinstalling it. It worked initially, but I waited a few days and tried again only to have the same problem occur. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(P.S., I did try Windows Movie Maker 6, but it does not accept certain movie file formats that my video camera uses, so I went back to WMM 2012.)

Answer:Windows Movie Maker 2012 on Win 8 - No Sound

As an alternative to your issue, try using VLC player, it's free and at least you'll be able to watch/listen to your videos.

VideoLAN - Official page for VLC media player, the Open Source video framework!

For you problem, I'm wondering if something has been left over from the uninstall, which could be causing your problem. Try using Revo Uninstaller and uninstall it with that then download and install movie maker and see what happens.

This is my first post on this site and I hope someone out there can help. I have old home movies (Super 8) that have been put on a DVD. I have an Asus laptop running with MS Windows 8. The movies play perfectly on my computer but I want to edit and add audio on Movie Maker. When I try to import into MM I get an empty box with an exclamation point !....error 0xc946002c....something about the codec not being recognized. I have made commercial videos, familiar with some (free) audio and video editing software, I've just never run into this problem before. Thank you in advance for your help.

I am extremely frustrated with movie maker! I have created nearly a 20 minute film of my holiday a couple weeks ago and it wont save after hours and hours of editing.

I have made several long videos using movie maker in the past and have had no trouble!

It gets to about 20% saved and then stops and tells me that my files are missing and I must remove the unusable items and try again! But none of the files are corrupt or unusable and all work fine, they aren't missing either as I have not moved them from the folder they have been in since I started the project!

If anybody has any advise or knows how to fix the problem I am having I would be highly grateful as I have many people depending on me to have this video done! Thanks!

I recently did a clean install of Windows 7. All updates except for Silverlight, and 5 optional updates. Today when browsing the internet and watching some flash video, I got one of those pages that cant close. I did a scan on the temporary internet files and Microsoft Security Essentials found a virus and deleated the file. I also sent info to Microsoft. Everything seemed okay except suddenly All video, weather in a wab page or on windows media player whould stop about a third of the way through, and again every so often untill I pressed play again. And in a web page It would stop buffering the file as if it were done and I whould have to click ahead of the stopping point to get it to go. So I noticed that SQL server 2005( i thing it said lite edition), was installed. I did not install this. SO I uninstalld Flash, and Microsoft Essentials Movie maker, and SQL server dissapeerd on its own. Why does Essentils need SQL server to be installed and why dont they tell you that. It scarred the heck out of me. Anyways I havent had to do a system restore yet and everthing seems back to normal. Is there a way to install Movie maker without all this server connection stuff. Is there a free program anyone can recomend. One that will not cause problems or install other crap I dont want...

Answer:Had a issue after installing flash and Windows Essentials Movie maker

Did you install all of Essentials, or just Movie Maker? Photo Gallery is what requires SQL 2005, but it says not on Windows 7

   Note
For Photo Gallery: SQL 2005 Compact Edition and Windows Imaging Codecs.*

*Not required when installing on Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

However, I found this:

Quote:
When you have downloaded the package install the features that you want to use on a test computer. When the installation has finished you will see that some of the programs have dependencies to each other. To get Movie Maker to work you have to have Photo Gallery installed. And to get Photo Gallery to work you need Microsoft SQL 2005 Compact edition. So don’t scratch your head to much when you see that Photo Gallery is installed even though you just selected Movie Maker

Hello,

I have recently stumbled across a problem with regards to Windows Live Movie maker. This is on windows 7.

The problem is, that every time I try to save a movie, it almost completes the saving process - then indefinitely hangs at 99% complete and will not finish the movie, no matter what. Usually, it results in force closing, and losing all of my progress.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi!

I want to upload a video to Youtube, but the problem is that the sound on the video is way too bad.. so i wondered if it was possible to record while i talk so I would have a audio file on the computer, and then put that audio file in to the video and delete the original Audio??

I have Windows 7 so the movie maker isn't the same in XP and i don't know if it is the same in vista..

btw.. I didn't know where to post this so i posted it under this section.

Answer:How to use Windows Live Movie maker?

No windows live movie maker is diffrent than windows movie maker in windows xp and vista. Yes you can add sound but I'm not exactly sure how to do it, but here is something that might help you though. Movie Maker: Edit the video

Thanks in advance! I have a 5 min video I'm editing in Windows Live Movie Maker. One min into the video, I would like a still picture to "display" for a "duration" of 5 seconds. Then "transition" or "fade", then I would like the video to resume. Then 2 mins into the video, I would like to add a still photo, again to be displayed for 5 seconds, transition or fade and resume the video, etc. But I am only able to add a photo at the very beginning or very end of the video. What am I doing wrong? Much thanks!

Answer:Windows Live Movie Maker (Win 7)

Microsoft recommends the free download of the latest Windows Live Suite, which includes Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM) for Vista and Windows 7 (XP doesn't support WLMM). That gets you the newest version, but one considerably slimmed down in features from MM2.1 in XP or MM6 in Vista. It's good for quickly and easily making a video and uploading to YouTube, but not for anything close to the kinds of serious editing you can do with classic versions of Movie Maker.

I think so:
Go here to install Windows Live Movie Maker 2011:
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker?os=other

Usually when the installer pops up, it says loading and all that.. When you are clicking next it will ask you what programs you want to install, with a huge list like "windows live movie maker 2011", "windows live mail", "windows live messenger", etc, and you just have to select Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 and move on... At least that's what I think you do... I did that when I installed Windows live Movie Maker....

Not sure if I'm in the right place to get help with this or not...  After looking at the internet, I see that I'm having a very common problem.  However, there are no good solutions posted anywhere.  I need to make a dvd from an avi file.  (Not just burn the avi file to a DVD, but make an actual dvd out of the file.)  Windows Live Movie Maker should do this.  But, every time I attempt to do so, it stops at 99% with no meaningful explanation as to why it fails.  Where might I go to find help?
My topic should read "Windows Live Movie Maker", not "DVD Makes".

Q for ya all.. I had Windows Movie Maker on my XP and VISTA op systems. They are wonderful programs which show storyboard and timeline view, allow you to zoom in and out and edit in a Great Variety of ways. They are FULL of options!! None of which I can find on the 7 version, which was not in the installed operating system. I had to search for it online, and download windows 7 live..
So, ..is this what im left with.? An elementary version of a great Program.? Where can I find, at the least, a version comparable to the Vista Windows Movie Maker..??
Thanks -Edward

Answer:Windows 7 Live Movie Maker

I agree the Windows 7 version is pretty useless. I would download and install an earlier version if i were you! The fact that there is no timeline facility killed it for me!

Hello Plains and welcome to TSF,

You are going to need to provide a little more information.

What operating system are you running? (e.g. Windows Vista Home Premium)
Is it the 32bit or 64bit version?
Is it OEM (came preinstalled) or Retail (Store purchased and self-installed)?
What security software are you using (anti-virus)?

Hello.
Thanks for letting me join...i'm new to this and will take a while to learn the site. I found it through a search.
I am using "Windows live movie maker" that I recently downloaded through MSN. It's a great program. Very user friendly and wonderful to work with. But, NO other program recognizes it....like You tube, Media Player, etc.... I created a home movie (i'm an artist, and filmed my techniques) that is 100 min long... I added captions, text, credits at the end, etc...its great! But it won't allow me to burn onto a 120 min DVD. I clipped the movie down to 50 for a test rn, and it allowed me to burn, but, It took me 6 hours!!! That is a long time! I need to download/buy a program that will compress or convert my DVD and make it burnable within a 30 Laps time. I looked on line and there are several free programs even...but, none of them are compatible with WLMM. It finds my clips...but, not the edited movie :-( I need help on figuring this out so that i can mass produce these dvd's. Do you know what other equipment do I need to buy? thanks for the help.

I just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7. I used Windows live movie maker on my old laptop which was Windows Vista. I've tried several times to install and each time it seems to be installing, though it takes a very long time but then when I look I find the installation has failed. One thing I did do when I got this laptop was use Windows Easy Transfer software to move my files over onto this machine. I don't know if something there could be affecting it since my old machine was running Vista? I have the same antivirus program (AVAST) that I did before. The machine does have some of Windows Live installed on it could this be this issue? Any thoughts?

You are using Vista Home Premium which has Windows Movie Maker included in the system.
WLMM stands for Windows Live Movie Maker which comes from Windows Live Essentials.

I want to make sure sure which one you were using before I can respond to your question.

I'm used to Windows Movie Maker and after my Brother spent the week wanting to give my laptop a system restore and then getting it for minutes when suddenly it needed and emergency system restore I was suspicious, but regardless of this I was pleased at the idea of an updated version of Windows Movie Maker, however it isnt as simple as I thought it would be.
The designers have obviously tried to make it as simple as possible, but I have found no help guide, and so far have found it to be quite the leap from windows movie maker.
the main issue I am having apart from getting used to new ways to trim videos etc, is the issue with music, when I add music, it has added music to fit the length of video im currently using, I wish to add the full song and then trim the song, for example so that I can have the middle of the song. At the minute I only seem to be able to obtain the start of the song, and when I tried to trim the music, it attempted to trim the video despite being in the tab for music.
I'm at a loss, and although I do wish to use this new version, I am currently thinking of going backwards and sticking to Windows Movie Maker as it was much more simple, I liked having a separate section where I could trim videos then drop them into a timeline, I liked being able to visably see where I was adding audio in relation to the video, and although this is the case with the new version, this complication with the music is ruining the experience for me, the old version I fee... Hey all - need some help with this;

I'm attempting to join several video files together from my video camera.

After importing the files from my device, I make a movie only to find no audio. The combined video looks great and the file properties even show audio info.

Tried to view the movie with different palyers, with the same result. HD video, but absolutely no audio.

The original files (before combining in Movie Maker) play just fine sound and all.

Any suggestions?

After a couple of days assembling a video with still images, videos, music and captioning, it is now not working right. I can open the file but within about 30 seconds, about five minutes of the presentation just disappears. The music and captions are in the wrong places and when I go to play it, I'll have music with no pictures or pictures with no music. This happened with an earlier presentation but when I went ahead and saved it as a movie, everything came out correctly. The problem this time is that I have not completed this presentation. Any ideas? I'm using this through Windows Vista.

Hello,
I have a new PC, which has a fast graphic card and memorystuff. It's especially for playing heavy games/running heavy graphic programs on it, that's why I chose this PC.
My PC is still empty with windows 7, I store all videostuff on my external hard disk.

And STILL my Windows Live Movie Maker 2.6 is running slow. It has problems with playing a clip, cutting a clip. It gives me "Not Responding" every time I want to play a clip. Playing a preview of the endvideo is a big problem for the program because it just won't play it. (There aren't other programs running in the back).
How can I run this program without getting stuck?

Or should I switch over to another program?

Answer:Windows Live Movie Maker 2.6 uberslow

I can only comment based on my experience, but I found Windows Live Movie Maker to be so slow as to be useless. Several times, I started it and the progress was so slow as to be painful!

Answer:No sound in Windows Live Movie Maker

If everything else works OK, I would suspect a problem with the Movie Maker. Try reinstalling that and see if it fixes it. You may have to uninstall it, restart the PC, and then download it from Microsoft to reinstall (do not skip the PC restart - if you just uninstall and reinstall without restarting the original problem can still be there).

I'm making a slide show to be played at my brother's celebration of life, it's all done but somewhere along the line I must have clicked something so that as the slides are playing I have these (what looks like) little dots going up the screen, I'd like to get rid of that if I can.

I have read that this software has been recently released, but will not work on XP PRO. I am anxious to try it but don't use VISTA. I found a solution (other than partitioning my hard drive) but want to get other people's responses:

Microsoft makes it pretty easy to test out Vista in a virtual machine. You will need two things to try it out. First you'll need to download and install Virtual PC 2007. This is freely available at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...22-6EB8-4A09-A7F7-F6C7A1F000B5&displaylang=en
Second, you'll need the VHD, or Virtual Hard Disk, of Vista. You can download this from Microsoft for free as well at the following link.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...37-d4d1-4b9b-926d-86493c7da1aa&DisplayLang=en

Apparently, you can install programs in the above configuration? So can this be a way to use Live Windows Moviemaker?
Thanks,

Hey guys...
I recently got a little HD video camera that compresses the vids in .MOV. I saw that you need Quicktime to PLAY em. I have that & they do PLAY fine. My question is...I want to edit & the Windows Live Movie Maker is giving me an error code of 0x87260103. It says that the file is in a format that the Movie Maker might not recognize. So...anything I can do so this camera wasn't either a waste of cash or just the beginning of the cash needed?

I've added no software to this laptop & it's brand new. I kinda figured if the computer would PLAY the video, the included software would recognize it as well. Guess that's what I get for assuming huh?

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Only way to get out of this black screen is the restart button in my case

G'day. Due to some problem with my pc, I had to re-install Windows 7 and Windows Live Essentials yesterday. Prior to yesterday, I had no problem with Windows Live Movie Maker when splitting video clips. Now when I try to split a video clip on the storyboard, the frames freeze as I move the vertical line. This makes splitting the video clip at the right spot a bit of a guess work. Can someone please tell me how I can make the frames on the storyboard play smoothly again as I move the vertical line? Your assistance will be most appreciated. Thanks and best regards.

Answer:Problem with Windows Live Movie Maker

It might be some drivers or codecs which you might have added earlier and now after reinstalling not added. How's is graphics playing after reinstall? Check playing various formats.
Please check and install the latest graphics drivers. I dont think any extra codecs needed unless you are handling some other formats. Also run your WEI once (Win key+PauseBreak) just to check the scores and compare if anything has been affected.
Also make sure all your Windows 7 updates are latest. Also install the latest ver of Windows Live Essentials 2011.

Answer:Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM

Repaired WLM 2012 through Program and features and then re-applied the patch, seems solved now.

I still don't understand Microsoft's decision to kill Movie Maker in Windows 10. It was a nice simple video editor for those who don't do it professionally and don't have time to learn the ins and outs of more complicated software. I'd really like to have something similar for Windows 10 (much faster encoding time on my Win10 desktop than my Win7 laptop), but so far everything I'm finding is either payware or lacks the features I need, or has the features but is really cumbersome to use for a non-power user (VLC). I just want something that will let me rotate, trim the video duration, and crop the image. Is there any free software that enables this on Win10?

The problem: Friends visited me and dubbed vocals over my singing on an mp3 I recorded prior to a severe stroke that left me paralyzed and mute. It was video recorded in .avi but the intro was missing. I want to add the entire mp3 the the video but, apparently MS is no longer supporting WLMM, so user info is very scarce.

Does anyone know how to sync the audio?

Eldon?

I can attach the .avi AND .mp3 if anyone wants to experiment.

TIA

Don

Trying to use Windows Live Movie maker on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 (With all latest Windows Updates) and it keeps telling me it cant start (Note: It does not give me an Error Code)

I figured it was the graphics driver not being up to date as i have heard of this problem many times before in Win7 and Vista x64 based systems so i updated my driver even tho my version was above the bug list. Also my Card is fully compatible with Dx9 up to 11 and have never had problems with compatibility in dx9/10/11 on anything before.

After rebooting Movie Maker worked just fine and perfectly smooth and i made a full 1 hour length video and rendered it and uploaded to YouTube without any problems what so ever.

As soon as i closed Movie Maker and tried to re-open it it again would not work (Yet worked after rebooting again but once closed would not re-open) So I'm having to reboot every time i want to use WLMM if i close it after i first open it.

Any help on this issue?

All possible relevant specifications are in the screenshots attached to this post

Also its the latest version of WLMM as i tried to re-install it hoping that would fix the problem but still the same unfortunately

Thanks in advance for any help provided

-Jess-

hey!
so i uploaded a video from my camera onto wlmm, then saved it onto my usb. then i plugged it into my laptop and now its a .wlmp file and i do know how to convert it to .wlp but it says that there is no file! like it has a little yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and i dont know what to do becasue ive already tried emailing it to myself and opening it on my laptop but it just wont work! i need help soon as its for a huge project!

Answer:ploading video on windows live movie maker

The .wlmp file is a project file, not a video. You need to open the project in WLMM and save it as a movie.

I'm breaking up a widescreen video into smaller parts and WLMM (Windows 7) is not letting me create the clips in widescreen. I split up the video, select "widescreen" under aspect ratio under the view tab, select save movie as standard definition, and my movie ends up the same exact format as if I had left it on the standard 4:3 ratio. Any help is appreciated.

Here's what it's supposed to look like:

I think that step is what's tripping you up. Go here, click on the second question ("What video file formats can I choose to publish my movie in Windows Movie Maker?") and find out what setting you were using and what it actually does.

I have tried repair and even remove and reinstall but no difference.

Thanks

Answer:Windows Live movie maker runs for 7 secs

What's the file type? Its extension ? If you are saving as a project, save as a movie as mobile device settings and try.
Have you installed any codecs?
Can you run that movie in Windows media player ?

I recently bought a Sanwa 2.4 GHz wireless web camera to film my presentations. It loads drivers automatically when connected to USB and it can be used with Skype. But when I display Windows Live Movie Maker the webcam icon isn't displayed. I go through the menus and it does not appear to recognize anything at all. I am sure this problem is very common. Would I need to upgrade Windows Live Movie Maker?

Thanks for any hints or tips.

Answer:No Webcam Icon on Windows Live Movie Maker

Possibly, go to get.live.com and update Movie Maker, its part of Windows Live Essentials.

I've included a screenshot of where the webcam icon is in the latest version.

I used to use Windows Movie Maker for XP, which allowed me to take a still photo image from an uploaded video. Is there a feature for doing this in Windows Live Movie Maker?

Answer:Windows Live Movie Maker - Taking still photos

That is indeed a very interesting question. I could not find the option either. I installed my WMM from Vista for that purpose (and for other reasons).

Need help regarding Movie Maker.

I'm running Windows 7-64bit. About a year ago, I kept getting an error "Movie Maker has stopped working" whenever I ran it. After extensive google search, I had tried everything from uninstalling/reinstalling to editing my registry. Nothing worked. Finally I came across a fix posted somewhere. The fix was to delete a specific update from the list of windows updates I had installed a few months ago. That update conflicted with movie maker and caused problems.

Seems like I installed that update again now. But, I cant remember or cant find what the name of that update was. If anyone knows which update I'm talking about, or has some other kind of solution for me, please do let me know.

Other solution should not involve updating drivers, uninstalling windows live or windows itself, checking for viruses, clean install of windows live movie maker. This is because I've done all that and I know it doesn't work for this error.

Attached jpegs show the details of the error.

I think we need more information. Laptop or desktop and specs for whichever - If desktop do you have 2 graphics cards, if so, turn one off. Also, there are, in some systems, known issues with Nero, you could check this out. Also, right-click on MV in the programs list and check on the settings. Silly, but we have to ask, have you updated your video card drivers, are you running the latest DirectX. If your video card is already updated, have you tried rolling it back to a previous version?

Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM) came pre-installed on my Win 7/64 computer but it seems to have disappeared. I found a free download at Microsoft downloaded and installed but get a message similar to: Your Windows Essentials is up to date. I again searched for WLMM. Nowhere to be found.

Next, I thought my AV (Avast free) was preventing the installation so I disabled it and tried installing again. Same message.

Next, I thought the d/l might be corrupted. Downloaded and installed from Filehippo.com, same message.

What am I doing wrong? (Remember, I know the operator intimately and he's terminally Irish).

Answer:Windows Live Movie Maker Help - Reinstall Says I'm Up To Date?

Have a look in the subfolders of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live" and see if WLMM is still there.

I saw the Windows live movie maker. It does not use the old "Storyboard" mode which makes video editing quick. I saw the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWeRXvBuXEE and it was true for AVERAGE users, not computer experts or professional video editers. I would like to have the old storyboard. If this is not possible, I will ask another question on finding a freeware video editor.

I've been editing and putting some music to a video I recorded and everything works fine until I try to save the movie..
After it's saved and I play it...I find that all my edits with the trim tool have been erased...I've gone back and saved the trim edits time and time again but everytime I save the movie it doesn't remember them and everything is off because of it...
Would anyone happen to have any suggestions for me?

Bought a DVD, and would like to edit out one particular scene. I try to import the file (23 minute portion)from my Desktop, where it is saved, but it it keeps coming up as a 5 second file, with no sound. It is a VOB file, and in the Windows Live Movie Help page says that Supported file types in Windows Live Movie Maker include VOB files, but it is still not working.
