Microsoft Updates Have Stopped Working

Question: Microsoft Updates Have Stopped Working

Hi, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1) and my computer has (relatively) recently stopped automatically updating. I have a constant alert in the status bar telling me this is the case with automatic updates and attempting it manually gives me an error code - 80096001 - immediately after attempting it. This problem may have coincided with me uninstalling AVG some time ago, but I'm not sure when it began for sure.

The reason for the thread title is because I recently attempted to install Microsoft Security Essentials, which also failed to auto-update in its initial setup. Could these issues be linked?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Microsoft Updates Have Stopped Working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would be really interested to learn if others have found that Microsoft have made it impossible to use Windows Update if they remain on other than Windows 10. I can see there are Security Updates for my Windows 7 Laptop and my Windows 8.1 Notebook but cannot download them because MS appears to have prevented this. Looking on the Internet, this appears to be a deliberate policy by MS to force Windows 10.
Is there a simple work around? And do we think that this is a really arrogant way for MS to treat its customers?

Answer:Windows Updates Stopped by Microsoft

Spent all day Saturday trying to fix a win 7 laptop that was running very slow, this included updating windows 7. Updates installed without problem.
Even after clearing out all the crap it still ran slow (Intell M900 2G ram).
Yesterday I updated it to Win 10 64 bit, electing to keep nothing, the machine now runs very well considering its poor chip and low memory.
Remember the free upgrade to win 10 is only on offer for the next couple of months.

I have my computer (Windows XP) is set to download Microsoft updates automatically via START/CONTROL PANEL/SYSTEM/UPDATES and the settings are 0800am every day and set to auto download. From the 17/9/2005 to 13/10/2005 I had 38 successful auto updates but after the latter date nothing has downloaded. Any ideas why this has happened it seems to be set up OK.

Thanks

Answer:Microsoft updates have stopped downloading automatically

Do you have XP Gold or XP SP1 or 2?

Try clearing your temp. internet files and/or disabling virus protection, then go to the website and check for new updates. There is also a problem if your version of XP isn't genuine.

Another possibility, stolen from MS Newsgroups:

Is the error code 0x8024001D and not 8x8024001D? If it is 0x8024001D, rename
the SoftwareDistribution folder by following this procedure.........

First, stop the Automatic Updates Service
Go to Start>Run and key in:
services.msc
Click on OK or hit ENTER
In the right-hand pane of the Services window, right-click on Automatic
Updates and then select Stop

Now, navigate to C:\Windows folder, locate and rename the
SoftwareDistribution folder to SDOLD

Restart the Automatic Updates Service by re-opening the Services window under Administrative Tools,
right-click on Automatic Updates and then select Start

Please note that a "side effect" of renaming (or deleting) the
SoftwareDistribution folder is that you will lose your current Update
History listing.

I am aware of the demise of Mediacenter in the upcoming Windows 10 but right now I have it installed on 4 different computers in my home (including 1 laptop). None of them will now update the guide? Is that something to do with Microsoft abandoning Mediacenter? One of my Windows 8.1 is strictly a DVR with 4 tuners. I wasn't planning on updating that computer for fear of loosing Mediacenter, but if they stop supporting tv guide updates, it will make no sense for me to keep it.
Is it just a fluck that I haven't been able to update the tv guide in Mediacenter? Or has support for that ceased already?

Answer:Has Microsoft stopped supporting Mediacenter guide updates already?

They recently made changes to the provider of the guide data

here's some info from MS

I've got a Windows 7 SP1 machine that is no longer notifying me of Windows updates.

It is set to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download an install them".

Until a few months ago, it always issued the appropriate notifications. Then it just stopped.

If I manually check for updates, it works fine, but I want to receive notifications for updates.

I've resorted to manually checking for updates every day. Based on the content of some of these "important" updates (which are really just ads for Windows 10), I no longer trust MS, and thus I do not want automatic updates.

I tried momentarily selecting "Never check for updates." and then re-enabling "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download an install them", but that did not help.

How can I fix this?

Answer:Check for updates stopped working

Hmmm... nobody else having this issue?

Hi all, only me again.

My mouse has stopped working after i did some window's updates!, it's only a ?4 mouse from asda in the UK, but was working fine before i did them. I went into my task manager and 2 of the USB's have warning's on them? Also this is the latest update that's killed my mouse.

Thankyou in advance

Answer:Mouse stopped working after updates!

Whenever you do an update, the system automatically creates a restore point so you can "roll-back" from the updates.

You can do a system restore by following this guide. System Restore

Once your system is working properly again, go through and install each update one at a time to see which one gives you problems.

Hopefully, this helps

Hi!

I am new here but would really appreciate some guidance.

About a minth back, an error came up on my notebook that Windows would no longer accept automatic updates with an error:

0xC004D401 An unauthorised change was made to Windows

But nothing was changed! No new software or anything!

Then I also noticed that Trend (my AV) stopped downloading updates. If I try manually I get an error -28 stating the PC is not connected to teh internet. Of course, it is!

I have looked around but cannot find anything to help. A scan by Trend does not reveal any virus or issues.

It is, of course, a genuine version of Vista and has been quite fine for a year.

Can anyone make some suggestions please?

Many thanks,

Paul

Answer:Windows and Trend Updates stopped working

Okay, so I made some progress!

I went back to a restore point about 3 weeks prior, then the windows updates started working (it re-applied the ones between) - they seem fine now.

It's just Trend that doesn't work; I am applying the updates manually but cannot see why it won't work.

Any ideas please?

I have Windows 10 on PC and Laptop and I found out that two Widnows Store updates ago I made on PC, Windows Store stopped working good, since in the opening screen it does not have small banners of individual apps as it should be but it has only greyed and empty big boxes. When I press button Games on the top, it shows pictures on same game banners but more than a half boxes are still greyed out and empty. Yes I did try wsreset.exe and Powershell trick to fix it, but nothing worked. I recently submitted Feedback about it, but it still not working as it has worked before.

On Laptop I did not make Windows Store update and it still works good, everything showed up correctly as it should.

Could someone confirm this issue and possibly give some direction to fix it if it is possible at all or to ask from Microsoft to make another Windows Store Update which will be working good.

Thank you.

Answer:WIndows Store stopped working two updates ago

Hi dzigibau.

You might try the in place replace / upgrade. This will upgrade you to V1703, just an FYI.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Before trying diagnostic procedures I always recommend that you create a backup of your data off machine, create an Image with a tool like Macrium Reflect and have bootable media that matches your current Windows environment.

since installing the latest windows update (approx 7-12 maybe more) days ago, my 3 browsers have stopped connecting to the internet (My internet is connected fine by wifi - skype works fine, it's just firefox/chrome/ie that does not work)

I performed a system restore to before the updates where installed, and ie worked fine - after installing the updates again, IE failed to work again - so i system restored again and turned automatic updates off

Is this a known issue?
It would seem very clear that windows updates have caused this issue, is there a fix?

thank you, please help if you can!

Answer:windows updates stopped browsers working

Welcome Dave
You are half way there. It was not all the updates, but only one that has caused the problem. If you are happy with the way the the computer works now, set the update to notify. When notified, install one at a time, if it works install the next. In that way we will know which update is the problem. Possibly it does not even have to be installed.

Hi guys.
I'm here because I've heard a lot about the experts in tenforums so I decided to ask my problem here. I have a HP ENVY 15t-j000 laptop running the latest windows 10 edition which is 1607. Since I've upgraded to anniversary update I have a lot of problems and many errors in the event viewer but above all my biggest problem is with my DVB-T dongle which stopped working suddenly. I was using the dongle before anniversary update with no problem but after the update it started to malfunction. First, for a few times when I started up my system and plugged the dongle into usb port I saw the error on totalmedia software which said no hardware detected. For about 5 or 6 times I could resolve the issue by closing the software, unplugging the dongle, plugging again and opening the software. With this simple approach I could use the DVB-T dongle but suddenly one day it didn't treat the same way and the issue wasn't resolved. I've done a lot of things like uninstalling and installing the driver or opening another user account and some other stuff to resolve the issue but no luck. I have a lot of errors in event viewer and I don't know if they are related to this problem or not. I remember some changes to the system before this problem occurs but I don't know which was exactly before this problem so I mention all of them. I have 3 programs that stopped working, they will not load up, and I believe that The latest Windows updates are responsible. These programs are Inworldz Beta Viewer, Imprudence Viewer, and Second Life Viewer. They have always worked fine for me until Wednesday when suddenly none of them would load up. The next day, Windows 7 didn't want to load up. I had to restart the computer a couple of times before it did.

I have tried system restore, but it fails every time. I tired sfc/scannow command, but it doesn't find anything. Avast antivirus doesn't find any threats, although it finds some "warnings" that it won't seem to do anything about. I can upload an image of those warnings if it would help. Malewarebits doesn't find anything.

The only thing that has changed on my computer that I'm aware of since Wednesday, when Inworldz was working, was Windows installed some updates. So I'm guessing that caused the problems.

I have been advised elsewhere that I should do a Windows 7 Repair, but the process sounds confusing as heck. A complete clean reinstall of Windows 7 sounds easier. But, regardless, if the problem was caused by Windows updates, wouldn't the problem just return when Windows updates itself again after I've done all of that? That's a lot of work only to have the problem return.

I noticed that these 3 programs have log folders. They might keep crash files if someone can make sense of them. I might be able to upload the log files if th... Read more

Answer:3 programs stopped working, I think Windows updates are responsible

I've replied in your other thread as well. You might try System Restore in Safe Mode, and see if that will work (SR has never been reliable for me)

Safe Mode

You might hold off on the Repair Install, but it is pretty straight forward. If you can Clean Install, you can do a Repair Install

Repair Install

IF it was caused by Windows Updates, the System Restore may be your easiest fix, if you can get it to work.

Using Fedora Core 6, and I had beryl effects working properly and the ATI catalyst control center was functioning properly as well.

However, I allowed the system to update itself (231 updates or so) and afterwards, ATI CC fails to even load, Beryl loads but the effects are no longer working. I'm still new to Linux so troubleshooting is a huge pain so far...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You probably updated your kernel and you have to reinstall/recompile the ATI drivers.

I have just reloaded Windows 7 and set up WinMail, after Windows updated 100+ files WinMail now doesnot work, does anybody have any ideas

Answer:WinMail stopped working after windows installed updates

Hello Paul and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm guessing you're talking about Windows Live Mail. It's possible that when you installed WLM something corrupted the installation. It's also possible that one or more of the 100+ Windows Updates failed to install correctly and had an effect on WLM. If you had the updates install automatically it will be difficult if not impossible to figure out which one(s) might be the problem. You may not like the suggestion I'm about to offer.

First, you could uninstall Windows Live Mail, reboot, then try reinstalling to see if the problem is corrected.

How to remove and reinstall Windows Live Essentials

If that doesn't correct the problem I'd uninstall all of the Windows Updates.

Remove an update

Then I'd install maybe 10 at a time, keeping track of which 10 updates you're installing by making note of the KB number. Use the computer for a while to see if there are any problems. If all works as it should, install 10 more updates. If a problem occurs, you'll know exactly which 10 updates might be causing the issue. Uninstall those 10 updates and reinstall just one at a time. Run the computer for a while, if no problems, install next update. Either all 10 will install correctly or you'll find the problem update(s).

If still no joy you could try running the System Update Readiness Tool.

What is the System Update Readiness Tool?.

Yesterday, I got a balloon notification saying that there were some Windows Updates available. I like to keep my PC up-to-date, and since I wasn't in the middle of anything urgent I had my Windows 7 32-bit PC download and install them. WU asked to reboot my computer, so I got to a stopping point and clicked reboot.

When I rebooted my PC, my 2nd monitor stopped working and wouldn't detect.

So I downloaded installed the latest drivers and restarted, nothing. Tried rolling back to a restore point before the updates, nothing. Uninstalled the video card and rebooted, nothing.

I have an ATI Raedon 3600 Series video card, installed into a Dell Optiplex 360, running 2 Dell 19" LCD monitors. Nothing super fancy or extravagant going on here.

I am a bit at a loss. I was going to maybe take out the video card and try reinstalling it physically and "softwarically". But I do not think that will actually help. It was working fine for months, and so I am guessing it has something to do with the Windows Updates that were installed.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Answer:Installed Windows Updates - 2nd Monitor Stopped Working

I tried installing a new video card, which wasn't much luck. But after I put the Radeon 3650 back in the internal video card was detected. I hooked up my second monitor to that one, which since I do not run any graphics intensive programs on this computer isn't a big deal.

Not my favorite fix, but it works so. Yeah.

Microsoft Word always worked fine on my computer until a few days ago when I tried to open it and it said something about a missing shortcut, it says:

Windows is searching for WINWORD.EXE. To locate the file yourself, click Browse

and then after a few seconds a box comes up saying:

Problem With Shortcut
The item "WINWORD.EXE" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?

I have no idea what's happened, I don't remember changing or moving any shortcut or whatever it's talking about, it was working fine one day and then the next day it wasn't working at all.
I tried to do a System Restore because I thought that might reset the computer to how it was before Word stopped working, but it said there were no restore points so I couldn't do that.
Can someone please try to help?

A week ago I installed Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 upgrade on top of Windows 2000, with no problems at all until now.

When I now open up Outlook 2007 after about 30 seconds I get an error message:-
Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working, windows is collecting more information about this problem.

I then asked if I want to send more information about the problem to Microsoft.

The next message:- A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Outlook closes and goes back to desktop.

I have looked on the Microsoft Office for updates or patches but there is nothing.

I am very concerned I cannot open this program as I have hundreds of contacts, email accounts and valuable data there.

If I uninstalled Office 2007 and re-install it again, will all my data still be on the computer, or will I loose everything?

Morning Group,

I'm at my wits end on this.  I have a Windows 7 Pro computer with Office 365 installed, and all of a sudden, I'm getting the dialog box with the dreaded "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working...".    This in not only happening with Outlook, but all of Office apps, like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to name a few.

To make things more interesting, everything was working perfectly up until a week ago.  During this time, I have made no other updates to any of my programs/apps.

I have gone to Microsoft's site, Google to find answers on how to fix the problem.   I tried everything possible.   I have download all of the latest Window 7 Pro updates, uninstalled, re-installed, safe boots, "outlook.exe /safe", and NOTHING solves the problem.  I even went as far as updating the drivers from HP.

I am very frustrated and angry that a solution cannot be found.

Has anyone out there experience the same thing and found a solution?

Sure would appreciate any more suggestions or ideas on how to solve this.

Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,

I have gone to Microsoft's site, Google to find answers on how to fix the problem.   I tried everything possible.   I have download all of the latest Window 7 Pro updates, uninstalled, re-installed, safe boots, "outlook.exe /safe", and NOTHING solves the problem.  I even went as far as updating the drivers from HP.

I am very frustrated and angry that a solution cannot be found.

Has anyone out there experience the same thing and found a solution?

Sure would appreciate any more suggestions or ideas on how to solve this.

Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,

Grant Boice

Since you've given no info about the installation, I'm going to guess this was a trial version on a new computer? It only works for a specified number of documents and then you must purchase a license key to keep it going.

I recently updated my Nvidia Driver, i did it carefully to make sure the information is correct. I install it and went to play a game that requires Java, Minecraft. When i opened it, it loaded and frozed and said "Java(TM) SE Binary has stopped working."It was running fine before I update my Driver, but the reason why I updated it is because the FPS keeps on dropping in the middle of multiplayer gameplay. I thought that updating it would be better, why not? I trust Nvidia on my PC.Specs:Lenovo Y570 64 BitIntel i7500GB HDD8GB RAMNvidia 555m:1: Ok i Uninstalled Java and installed it and the gave finally launches but when i press play it does "Could not create Virtual Machine"  Oh silly me, i remember that Java 32 bit only allows 1.5 GB, i'll install 64 bit.:2: I have installed 64 bit java, but it gets back to this error: "Java(TM) SE Binary has stopped working." Awww. D'::3: Hmm... The heavily modded pack of the game works but still I want to play Vanilla not moddy pack ex. Technic Launcher.. Man my game is at 20 fps stable, no drops and won't go up, better than the 60 fps to 5, I might have to live with playing 20 fps..

Hello again,

This thread is in relation to the other thread that I had created not too long ago. Over the course of the weekend, I've experienced some trouble when I had attempted to open my "Device Manager" in Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64. I opened under "System" in Windows 7, but it gives me a window that the MMC console has stopped working.

I've tried accessing through "Administrative Tools" under Control Panel. The problem remains the same. Therefore, I've tried reinstalling the entire operating system - but the problem remains the same. From my own research, the only way on preventing MMC from crashing is - disabling certain services and functions at startup (in this case, the "Themes" services). I've found out from one user (albeit running in a different operating system) who has a similar problem and it's all exhibited from these two links - here and here. I've followed that step and so far - all thing's are relatively stable.

I've also did an SFC (System File Checker) check in Windows 7, but they have failed to fix some of the problems relating to my issue.

To summarize, each time I wanted to access my hardware profile for my desktop system in Windows 7, the computer has kept crashing. I'm hinting that my hard drive is about to go bust any day now.

If you need any more information in regards to my hardware, please let me know. Also, what can I do to prevent MMC from crashing again in the future?

Answer:Microsoft Mail stopped working suddenly

Run a system file check to look for corrupt files.

Right click at Start button > click Command Prompt (Admin) > at the flashing prompt, copy/paste this.......
sfc /scannow

> press Enter.
It will take quite sometime.
When finished, it will give you one of the 3 reports...............(paraphrasing)
1. No integrity violation.
2. Found corrupt files and repair successful.
3. Found corrupt files but unable to repair.

If the report is #1, your solution lies elsewhere.
If the report is #2, check if your problems have been resolved.
If the report is #3, use this method................
In the same Command Prompt (Admin) windows, copy and paste this command...........

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

> press Enter.
Again it will take some time.
When finished, it will give you a report.

Since yesterday, I have been receiving the above message when I close Outlook (the program otherwise functions normally).I had recently removed PC Tools Antivirus and replaced it with AVG Free antivirus, but I don't think that this is the cause of the problem. For the record, I have Office 2007 Professional, Vista Home Premium, ZoneAlarm, Advanced WindowsCare V2 Personal, and Acrobat 8.1.2.One thing that might be of use in solving the situation: I had previously noticed that 2 add-ins had been disactivated by Outlook -- one for unified messaging in MS Exchange, and the other for PDF files in Outlook -- and now the latter (pdfmoutlook.dll) is no longer disactivated. I don't know how to go about disactivating this driver again.I have already tried using the various fix options for Office and Outlook, but the problem persists. All suggestions welcomed.Florio

Answer:Microsoft Management Console has stopped working!

Check for data corruption.Run Disk Check with Automatically fix file system errors checked. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log.
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

Following advice from other forums I've tried

Repairing Excel.
Reinstalling Excel.
Disabling Bluetooth.
Setting BtOfficeAddin.BtOfficeIntegration data entry in the registry to 0x00000000 (0).
The macros worked fine on XP but I keep getting this error on Windows 7. Does anyone have any advice?

Answer:Please help me with Microsoft word has stopped working issue

Hello binngokute and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm a little confused why you reinstalled the operating system to try to repair Microsoft Office. In Office 2003 (the version I have at work) you could click on detect and repair in the help menu. Office would then try to find and repair problems such as missing files and registry settings associated with all installed Microsoft Office programs. Does your version of Office have that option?

Automatically repair Office programs - Excel - Office.com

As far as Windows Explorer stopping you might try to run a System File Checker scan. If any problems are noted run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If the SFC scan doesn't help you might consider a Repair Install.

Repair Install

Please post back to let us know if anything helped or if you're still having problems.

Added Info: If you're using a later version of Office you might want to try Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office Diagnostics to find and repair problems.

Microsoft display adapter BC was working perfectly until a few days ago. It stopped working while I was watching a video. Now when I try to connect, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then the TV goes back to the Microsoft ready to connect screen. My computer screen flashes the message "display driver Intel HD graphics drivers for windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered" I have not installed any new hardware or downloaded anything recently to cause this problem. Any advice?

Answer:Why has microsoft display adapter BC stopped working?

Hi guest,
I think you can try to register to this forum and it will help you track your questions solved more easily. The "display driver stopped responding had has recovered" is a common question. Normally it happens when you playing games, and view videos. Usually is the gpu overload operation or you need to update your graphic drivers.
You can try to solve this problem follow these steps:
1. Update the graphic drivers. (normally, when you do this step, it will solve your problem.)
2. End program by Task Manager, especially for game program and video program.
3. Increase the TDR data.
4. Update system package.
5. Reset GPU frequency.
6. Update Motherboard/Bios drivers.
7. Cooling computer.
8. Change graphic card.
And you can follow this article: How to fix display drivers stopped responding and has recovered to do it step by step.

Trying to start Outlook 2010, get message "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working".
(Same result in Outlook "safe mode".)
Outlook opens folder pane, message pane & preview pane. Then a popup with message above.
This is a Windows 10 system "upgraded" from Windows 7 about a year ago via GWX.
The email provider is COMCAST using an Exchange Server via RPC/HTTP connection.
Since we're talking about Exchange Server, the data files are .OSTs.
SFC finds no problems, and neither does CHKDSK.
Event log is cryptic to me (aren't they all?) but names "WINDOWS.UI.XAML.DLL" as faulting module.
I believe this module to be a component of KB3194496, recently installed via Windows Update.
It seems clear to me that this is a Windows Update issue.
There are no available Restore Points.
(event pasted below)
Has anyone else seen this?

Is there a work-around?

Thanks In advance...

After a recent Microsoft update, the cd/dvd player on my computer has stopped working.  Previously, it worked just fine. When I checked in the device status, it says "This device is working properly."  However, when I put in a dvd, it spins a little and then a pop up box tells me to insert a disc into drive E.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video graphics, etc., but to no avail.  In addition, I tried to update the drivers and that still did not work.  (The cd/dvd drive is listed as hp DVDRW SU 208GB SATA in properties.)  I have also tried to play an audio cd, but that doesn't work either.

Answer:Why has my Microsoft Lumia 535 suddenly stopped working?

Apologies for not being able to give you a solid answer about this.
If this were my phone I would use the "Lumia Software Recovery Tool" available here:http://download.fds-ncom.nokia.com/s...lInstaller.exe
If possible install the tool on a Windows desktop PC.
Let the tool update.
Follow the instructions from the tool.
Connect your phone to the PC to recover.
This will completely wipe the phone and you will have to start over as though the phone was new.
Hope this is helpful.
Good luck.

Are you using a Universal Theme Patcher? I found out a long time ago, in windows 7, using such a tool for shell themes kills mmc and few other windows services. I don't use these "toys" any more. try sfc/scannow and then reboot.

I am trying to reinstall Microsoft Office 2007 Student Edition and I continue to receive the following error:
Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped Working.
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

Microsoft support informed me to try installing on a clean boot but the issue occurred. They provided me with a new download of Office 2007 and when attempting to install I continue to receive the error. I do not have any other versions of Office installed. This is very frustrating. I believe a lot of this began when I uninstalled "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition" from my Laptop due to not working properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need to get Office installed so I can complete my college courses.

Thank You
Ian

I have seen many other people with this issue and this is more of a solution for others than a question...When trying to install/open some programs, this error would pop up, "microsoft (C) Register Server has stopped working."Running as administrator would sometimes allow the program to install/open but with errors, hangs, and incomplete installs. Here are some of the other "fixes":1)sfc /scannow from the command prompt"I did find problems with some files but this did not fix the problem, so good, but not the fix."2)Modifying DEP (Data Execution Prevention)"This is more of a workaround and doesn't completely fix the problem (or work at all)."3)system restore"This is due to being a time before you installed the problem program."4)Memtest"Will not do anything (unless there really are errors, but very unlikely)."5)Renaming Windows folder in ProgramData."This will rebuild the folder but did not fix the problem."6)Re-install Windows again!"Yes, this fixes the issue, unless you use the same programs every time like most people do and install it on the fresh install."The culprit and subsequent fix was AVAST! antivirus (the newest version as of this post). To fix the problem, disable AVAST! (and you might need to restart with it disabled)... until you are finished installing/running the program.I absolutely love AVAST!, have used it for 7+ years and never had this issue in the past. The reason most people see this happening is because antivirus is usually the first thing to go on after... Answer:Microsoft Feeds Syncronization Stopped Working

Hey, open the start menu, type "msconfig.exe" in the search bar and press enter to run msconfig...

Go to the startup tab
If you see something concerning microsoft feeds syncronisation then uncheck the box next to it and press ok (this will pop up another box on startup warning you that your startup items were modified by msconfig but you just have to check "dont show me this again"...)

if not then go to the services tab and do the same

I have had Outlook 2007 installed for a while now and had no problem with it. Yesterday it stopped working and I cannot get it restarted. I get a message saying the file C:\Users\SteveBurns\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.pst cannot be opened.
I have been into the mail app file and tried repair and that came up saying it was working, but nothing is working.
I had this as part of Microsoft office package 2007.
Can someone help? I get all my mail sent through to this address.

Answer:Microsoft Outlook 2007 stopped working

The pst file is probably corrupted. Use scanpst see MS Support.

When I try to run one of my Microsoft office professional plus 2010 programs I get an error message that reads:Microsoft setup boots-trapper had stopped workingA problem caused the program to stop working corectly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. There is one button on the pop up that says close program. Once I click mentioned button i get another error message that reads:Microsoft office professional plus 2010 cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was canceled by the user. the application will now shut down.I also tried to unistall it and I receive the first error message I mentioned. Once I click the button all the windows for un-installation close. I have tried backing up everything and reinstalling windows and I have also done a system restore to a point that I knew no errors were occuring and the problem just carries over. I searched the web as well but all I could find were these really complicated sulutions that I decided not to try for fear of making the problem worse. Any help will be completely appericiated.

Help!

Whenever I try to save in Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) I get the above error message and then it closes.

I have removed AVG from my computer and also uninstalled office and reinstalled it but this doesnt' help.

I can get it to work in safe mode but is there anything I can do to get it working properly?

Thank you!

Answer:Microsoft office has stopped working when saving

last time I had that problem and ran Office Diagnostics, it said the hard drive was the problem so I tested it and indeed the test confirmed it. New hard drive fixed the problem. However, I'm not suggesting you rush out and buy a new hard drive. Test it first with DOS-based diagnostic software like SeaTools for DOS which can test any drive brand and runs from a bootable CD:

my usb optical mouse was working just fine but when i switched on my laptop this morning it wasn't working anymore. the red laser is lit at the bottom of the mouse but the cursor doesn't move.

i checked the device manager and saw 2 alerts under the Human Interface Devices tab. One for HP Quick Launch Buttons and the other is for USB Human Interface Device. I presume the latter is my mouse. When i check on properties for both the alerts it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

All the driver files do seem to be in place or so I think since I haven't done any changes lately. I have already tried uninstalling both error causing devices under the Human Interface Devices tab. But when I reboot, both the devices automatically re-appear and with the yellow exclamation mark error still there. Any ideas on how to resolve this??

I'm on a HP 500 notebook running on XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3.

I am using MS office starter since 2012 and its working perfectly fine, till last week. But suddenly lats week when i clicked on a work document to open it, i got message that I need to repair Ms office. I checked online. Tried repairing it by going to control panel and click on repair but no luck. Could someone share the fix.

Answer:Microsoft 2010 starter stopped working suddenly

Hi: Try reinstalling it. I have zipped up and attached the install file below. You have to be connected to the internet in order to run the file. Download, unzip and double click to run the file. It will contact the Microsoft Office 2010 Starter download site, and download and install Office Starter 2010. I don't know if you have to uninstall your current version or not. Try it without uninstalling it and if it doesn't work then I guess you can uninstall it and redownload the program.

Greetings,

I am using Windows XP SP3. On shutdown of my laptop I received a message about Microsoft Updates to install and computer would shutdown when finished installing. An hour later the updates still had not finished installing so I shut down my laptop manually.

When I turned on my laptop I received a message stating could not find C:windows/system 32/ juschd.exe.bat file, however, computer continued to boot up and all appeared well.

I then tried to update McAfee and the Security Center was not able to update so I type in the address bar of Internet Explore www.mcafee.com and Internet Explore was not able to display the page. I also found I could not get to any site with "McAfee" in the address.

I called McAfee and after a hour they said I need to call a different department and that there would be an additional charge.

So I decided to try and fix this on my own. Researched and found that this might be a MTU size error so made registry entry of hkey_local_machine\system\CurrentControlSet\Services\Ndiswan
Parameters\Protocols\0... ProtocolType REG_DWORD 0x00000800 PPPProtocolType REG_DWORD 0x00000021 ProtocolMTU REG_DWORD 1452.

This did not work. Then read to uninstall McAfee. So I uninstalled McAfee including showing all folders and files and then deleting them. Needless to say this did not work. I still could not visit the McAfee websites.

Then I found this forum and did some more reading. Wish I had found this forum first.

Ever since March 3rd, 2009, every time I plug in my MANHATTAN WP5540 graphics tablet, WISPTIS.EXE crashes with the Problem Event Name of "APPCRASH." It was 1:42PM when I plugged in my tablet (Atlantic Standard Time.)

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x64.

For applications, I only installed Firefox 3.1 beta 2, and for Windows Updates the last time that I installed any (major) updates was February 27th, 2009, and I don't believe that I've plugged my tablet in after that until the 3rd.

Answer:Microsoft Tablet PC Input Component has stopped working.

Try to remember what you did on March the 2nd, 2009, and then undo those actions in reverse sequence

More seriously, if you post more detail about the crash - those numbers in the "appcrash" event - someone here may be able to suggest what to do.
