My friends can't connect to my Minecraft server

Question: My friends can't connect to my Minecraft server

I have been working on setting up a Minecraft server for a couple of days now, and I cannot find a way to get my friends outside of my network to connect. I know I gave them the right IP address, and I have tried several solutions with no luck. I can, however, connect to the server from other computers connected to the same router, but I think that only works when I have it set to "cracked" mode.

I tried disabling my firewall on both my host computer and my router, using a different computer as the server host, and changing the port. All solutions I have tried gave the same message to my friends: "Cannot reach server", when I was able to connect just fine.
Here is some possibly useful information:

Preferred Solution: My friends can't connect to my Minecraft server

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: My friends can't connect to my Minecraft server

You need to forward some ports (router settings) and then open incoming port in your firewall (OS settings). Start here.

I've been trying to run a port forwarded minecraft server. i have port forwarded the port "25565" (the minecraft server's port) on a UDP and a TCP protocol. i use the private IPv4 address (192.168.***.***) and i give my friends my external IP address to connect with.

however, when it comes to connecting, they aren't able to get in the server whilst i can =/ I've looked at a port checker and whilst the server was up and it agrees that the port "25565" is open. yet my friends still cannot connect.

I've tried adding new inbound rules on my window's firewall. however i do have Norton 360 which has a firewall of it's own.

if anyone knows anything it'd be really appreciated. thanks.

Answer:Friends cannot connect to my Minecraft server

you have norton firewall and a windows firewall, try turning them both off and see if it works, then turn on each one and see which is the problem.

I bet its norton..

my son runs a a minecraft server and he has no issues on his W7 PC after i set the portforwarding on the home router

I am deeply sorry to post this silly question but here is my problem:
Recently I made my mc server, I port-forwarded the 25565 port and my friends joined and the server worked perfectly. Then all of a sudden, they disconnected all at once. After some investigation I realized that my external ip adress had changed. I kept giving my friends the new ip adresses every time they changed but that seemed like not the best solution. Also I checked and my ips are static. I have some screenshots containing the problems and info here.

I used PortForward Network Utilities to make the ips static and every one is static and the external ip keeps changing. Is there a way to stop the external ip from changing or no?
P.s. DHCP is not enabled on LAN.
Sry for my derpy tech language if you don't understand anything just ask

Answer:My friends get disconnected to my Minecraft server

Okay, that is a legit issue. Your external IP address is provided by your Internet Service Provider. It seems as if they either have it set to switch IP addresses constantly, or they're doing that just to you to prevent you using a server unless you pay more money for a static IP. My local provider refreshes my IP very rarely, but I have had it happen in the past and it did confuse me for a bit. Call up your ISP about the problem, and see if you can figure out a way to stop it. I wouldn't imagine it adding too much more to your internet bill, but I honestly don't know.

I've been having trouble connecting to minecraft classic servers for a while, but now I've decided I need real help.So far, I've been told (adamantly, if I may add) that my issue will be solved by using a Minecraft Direct Connect URL. When I explained to the user that it didn't help, he assumed I did it wrong and made a tutorial for me on how to do it. Still doesn't work.Set the World of Minecraft client to a "trusted" program on my firewall. No luck.I've removed all the old versions of Java. No dice.Removed and re-installed the current version of Java. No luck.Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to get on Minecraft?

Answer:Can't connect to ANY server in Minecraft Classic

This iw what you are talking about, -Right?QuoteMinecraftMinecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that see you are using Windows XP and you are experienced. If you are experienced, why can't you tell use if you are on a LAN in your home. campus, hotel or office. It could make a diff.Does your Local Internet Provider block that site? Have you asked? Or can you get to the site on another PC? Do you think it is a problem with Windows? Did you try another OS?

So i have two laptops both running windows 8, so on the first laptop im running the minecraft server not LAN and I'm trying to connect via laptop 2 but it's saying connection refused. So i ported firewall with custom application, and also passed it threw windows firewall public and private. But still unable to connect from second laptop both running on same router and connection. Help?

Answer:Can' t connect to Minecraft local server?

Make sure port 25525 TCP is open on the computer running the server, and that the server software is running. Setting the firewall for a specific application doesn't always work - you have to go with the actual port number.

So computer A(brother) has hosted a minecraft server. Computer B(Me) can connect to it from the outside world. Computer C(Friend) can not connect to it, Also outside world. Computer B is 45 min away where computer C is a 45 sec walk down the rode, same ISP. Any help? We all would greatly appreciate it. Also so same thing is happening with a Teamspeak server, Computer A host, B able to connect, C still nothing.

Note: computer C can get on other Minecraft servers and other Teamspeak servers.
Thanks alot

Answer:One computer can connect to Minecraft server, another can't

If computer C can connect to other severs then most likely the problem lies in computer A. Check firewall rules, try disabling computer A's firewall.

So here's the thing: I can connect to any Vanilla servers just fine. Not a single solitary problem on that front. However, when I try to connect to a modpack server, like any FTB or Technic Launcher server, no go, I get this:

The modpack itself opens, and I can run it in Singleplayer just fine, but it's only launching a server that has been giving me trouble.
I have tried with Tekkit Classic that always stays in the same version (1.2.5 I think?), and that didn't work either, although it did before. I've got no idea what changed in the meanwhile.

I have already tried connecting to Vanilla using the Technic Launcher, and it played fine, so I don't think it's the launchers. However, it seems like any modpack server just won't work for me.

Does anyone know anything about this problem? I would be extremely grateful if you could be any help! I've already posted this question on 6 different forums, but either I got no answer, or the usual standard answers (e.g: "Check if you spelled the server IP right") didn't work!

My relevant specs (i'll add some as I think of them or they are requested of me):

Hello friends,

I'm new in making online gaming servers, but I watched several tutorials on youtube and performed all things whichever needed to download & run my own Counter Strike Server (HLDS).

But the problem is that, only I'm able to connect to my server, and none of my friends are able to join it.

In many threads I read that if I'm making a gaming server online, then I need to forward the ports. In the case of CS, I need to forward ports ranging from 27000 to 28000.

I have tried the method of going to cmd and type ipconfig and then copy, paste the Default Gateway address (which is the ip address of my router) into the browser, but here nothing worked? I just got message in my browser - Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to & similar messages in other browsers.

I'm not having any router at home(I never needed it) and I'm using dial-up connection. The point is, how I can forward the ports if I don't have routers.

I'm using normal Ethernet connection, where my cable operator named inCableNet (in2net) have joined a wire to my CPU, and made a shortcut of dialup connection to my desktop. So, I can see two LAN connection in 'My Network Places'.

Please somebody help me, how to make server online so that others on the internet can join it?

Okay I have been tinkering around with setting up a craftbukkit minecraft server on Windows Server 2008 R2. Since I know there is a community here, and that some of you have actually ran there own server I was wondering if anyone would mind lending me a hand.

Okay I already have a server configured and have ran it from my desktop. Now I want to run it from 2k8 R2. Problem is I cannot connect to the minecraft server once I moved it to the server. I have opened up the firewall for minecraft and still no dice. Is there anything else I need to do to allow connections.

I have tried to connect locally, and through my external IP, even specifying the specific port. I have also configured port forwarding which did not give me a problem when running the server from the desktop. I have also installed Java 64bit on this server as well.

Thank you for you help.

Sorry for posting this in the wrong sub forum. Moderators please move this to the correct forum. Thanks.

So, I just made my Minecraft server and was wondering if its safer to give someone my hamachi i.p or my actual ipv4 address. I understand that people can't ddos you through hamachi, but they can access your shared files? I do not have any shared or important things in my shared files.
I prefer just to use my i.p instead of Hamachi, how can i give this to people i don't know and still not have myself ddosed or ratted (remote access trojan).

I've been trying to make a server since forever. Not just the plain Minecraft Vanilla server, but a bucket server. I've downloaded craftbucket, the latest version, and tried to run it. It gives me the error saying " 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I do have java installed so I don't know why this is happening. If this gets fixed, can someone please explain to me how to port fwd... Im super confused on that part too.

Answer:Minecraft Server Help?

Hello Sammy37796, apologies for the delayed response.

Not sure about the other stuff, but port-forwarding is interesting... it "opens" ports for things to go through. Think about it like a valve that lets water through.

First, you need to have a static IP address (address that doesn't change) for this to work. You MUST have a static IP address for your server otherwise nothing will work (network-wise) because your server's IP address will constantly change and you won't be able to connect to it unless you constantly update it to compensate (which is a lot of pointless work).

To set a static IP address:
Go to your control panelClick Network and InternetClick Network and Sharing CenterClick Change adapter settingsRight click your adapter and select propertiesScroll down and select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click properties.

It should look like this. Except you will have Obtain an IP address automatically selected.
Now, keep that window open. Time to do a few commands.

Open your command prompt, do this by clicking "Start" and "R" on your keyboard (shortcut) and searching for "cmd". then type "ipconfig". Look for these fields...
Now, copy those numbers into that window that you have open. This will set a static IP address for your server.

Now, the actual port-forwarding... Do you know what ports you need to open? If not, you need to find out. I'm not familiar with Minecraft server ports...

In order to open you... Read more

Question: Minecraft Server

I have a 4gb Ram, intel Core 2 3.16 ghz E8500 and windows Vista (Dell Optiplex 755)
how much could this pc do as a server for minecraft? amount of players, lag etc? how many servers/worlds could I have at once, bukkit, vanilla maybe modded too?
Any ideas?

Answer:Minecraft Server

I find Minecraft starts to bog down after a while if your world grows too big. As you go into different parts of the world after a fresh boot it loads the quadrants into memory and it seems it can't handle itself very well. Mind you my experience is a VM on a core 2 quad. If you run on that machine directly you may get slightly more performance than me. I have not tried it in a VM on my new Xeon server yet.

Bottom line is, it WILL work fine, but as the world grows it may start to bog down. Not really sure about amount of players, I think it really depends where they are and what they're doing. I would only have the 1 server, if you add more then it may be problematic. My server alone, which is only used casually (just me and another friend) uses about 2GB of ram.

I just loaded dd-wrt to my Netgear WNDR3400, and I having issues starting back my Minecraft server. I don't know if I'm simply port forwarding incorrectly, or if I've really screwed something up. What's odd is how it is reacting after not connecting. I've tried setting up the server on a couple different computers and the same result happened on mine. This video explains it better than anything. The commands seem to not work when I connect, among other things. I've also uninstalled and re-installed Java.

Answer:dd-wrt and a Minecraft Server

I had trouble port forwarding for my minecraft sever, I got it working with this though you can also just join with the ip 'localhost' this will only work for you by the way.

Okay, I'm trying to set up a Minecraft server and am having multiple issues. Nothing seems to be working properly and I'm not knowledgeable enough to figure out what is wrong. So I come to you. Help me, Techie Wan Kenobi. You are my only hope.

My Setup
I have a PC running Windows 7 and a Belkin N150 router. Wired connection. Also have a PS3 and Xbox 360 wired into the router and a Wii, netbook, and 2 Android phones connecting wirelessly. Internet is cable w/ 28 down/3.5 up.

What I Need Accomplished
I need to set up a Minecraft server that outsiders can connect to using a domain name ( This domain name needs to dynamically update when my external IP address occasionally changes. I also need to make sure my PS3 and Xbox 360 friends can connect to my lobbies in games like Call of Duty (they couldn't using the default router setup, so I had to open the right ports and set both my consoles to use the same IP).

It will probably be easier to start from scratch. I do own the domain name mentioned above and can change the DNS to whatever it needs to be, though it doesn't do it automatically.

Answer:Trying to set up a Minecraft server

For DNS, you'll need to use a dynamic dns service. I'd suggest registering with DynDNS (free). You'll be assigned a dyndns subdomain (like, and you will need to enable dyndns in your router. Then you can easily create a CNAME record that maps -> your address.

As for your port forwarding problem, you didn't explain it in very much detail, so it's hard to comment on what the problem might be. Each of the devices connected to your router should get it's own IP address. Just forward whatever ports need to be open to the correct device. Never try to make two devices use the same IP address.

Right first things first to mix it up a bit, I've started a minecraft server on an LINUX based operating system, I've followed all the steps that have been required to start the minecraft server and so on, I've portforwarded everything (something else about it comes up later) And done everything it has said to do. I've run minecraft servers before so I do know how they work

HOWEVER, Because I still want to keep the portforwarding on my main computer so that I will be able to host other things from it, I changed the minecraft server to 25566 and since doing that no one has been able to connect to it. The only way I can connect to it is the internal address:25566 and nothing else. Other than that it does not work at all.

Yes I have put the correct IP in
Yes I am using the external IP to connect to it but it won't allow me to join with the external IP address even if I put :25566 after it.

Any suggestions?

You said you've port forwarded it. Then you changed the listening port on server. Did you also change the port forward rule on router?

I have a seperate computer I run a minecraft server on. My friends and I have been connecting to it via a VPN (Evolve) and it has been relatively stable. Evolve has been having some stability issues, so I decided to try a different VPN, Hamachi. Something went wrong and the computer lost its ability to connect to the internet. I uninstalled Hamachi and ran a Windows repair of my normal internet, and now my internet is fixed again. However, I went back to Evolve, and now I cannot connect to the minecraft server anymore.

I don't know what is going on or even things to try at this point to see if I can get it fixed again. I removed all the virtual networks from the computer, rebooted, redownloaded Evolve, and reinstalled it. I can ping both ways, Tabletop Simulator can connect correctly through the VPN, but I still can't get the server to connect.

-How to make the game faster

Im not too sure if this is the right section to post in since its not really a problem with a game. I just need some advice on how I would go about building a personal minecraft server for up to 40 players at peak. I have been looking through server parts and what not but, i realize building a server is different from building a desktop.
I need some help with what hardware would be needed and what os would work the best (ive been told linux is pretty good by my friends). All the personal servers ive seen have had low cpu power, is that normal or just bad?

Answer:Minecraft server advice

Depends on what your computer can do. Since you wanna host 40 people, is this going to be local server or dedicated to another type of server? (wherever it is) what your computer specs? cores speed and RAM is the main thing.

srsly considering relieving my primary server of its minecraft role (its a C2Q 9300) and building a budget rig just for minecraft! Since Minecraft is mostly single threaded I need the most performance I can get per core.

so far this is what I have selected

Intel Pentium G870 $89.99
Its Passmark score is 3121 which gives me a score of around 1550 on a single core (my C2Q is like 970 per core)

Mobo - MSI H61M-P31 (G3) LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX $49.99

8GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 PC1333 (its a single stick, so if needed I can upgrade to 16GB later $38.99

PSU - Free (Spare Silverstone 430W)

So... I posted this thread because I just made a test server on my PC and I am using Hamachi as a virtual LAN and I want to see if anyone could help me build it up until I can get my Server bought and to get my router port forwarded.

Specs: (These are a bit crap because I have really bad internet that I am going to fix)
Ram:3.5Gb Dedicated RAM
CPU: Quad-Core AMD 1.8Ghz Processor
Hard Drive: I am allowing up to 200Gb of Hard Disk because I don't really know what is ideal
Network: KC Communications (7.5Mbs UP, 3.525Mbs Down)
SlotsIt will say 20 on the Server but I only have 4 other available other connections for Hamichi)
Other Info: I have disabled the nether because I have a feeling that will slow the server down having multiple servers running but depending on how popular the server will be I will add multiple servers and higher specs.

If you want to come on this Server please tell me on Skype: Theo Sheovelot

Also... You will be staff while the server is up early and you must know what you are doing.

Hamachi Information:
Password: None!
Minecraft:1.6.4 (Because that is easy to run on Hamachi for some reason)

Answer:Minecraft Server Fatal Error - Please Help!

What is a Runtime Error?
First, letís quickly explain what Runtime means. Runtime's are code libraries loaded by applications at the time they are run. If a runtime library becomes corrupted or otherwise unavailable for use, the applications that rely on them are prone to crashing.

There are many different runtime libraries available today. The most common libraries in use are the Visual C++ Runtime library and the Java Runtime Environment. These libraries are used for nearly every single application you run on your computer! Because of this, it is very important that these files remain in good working order. Malware authors often target these runtime libraries as they can easily disable a lot of applications by killing the system's libraries.

What causes a Runtime Error?
So, A Runtime Error simply describes a problem where a piece of code cannot be loaded, or encounters an error during operation. Thanks to Microsoft assigning a numerical code system, software developers can easily diagnose which particular conflicts their software is experiencing problems over. We have compiled a list of common runtime error codes for your reference. So, for example, a runtime error with a number 6 means itís a program error that has to do with not having the latest update for the program or a corrupt installation of the program. We have also compiled a guide to manually fixing Runtime errors, however it should be noted that it is far more efficient to use an automated tool, di... Read more

I have a minecraft server, but I can't forward the port with my router. I believe the issue lies with the "LAN port" option. I don't know what to put for that.

I have a Netgear 7550. Can't seem to find any information on the router from netgear. My ISP is ATT.

I am trying to run a Minecraft server off of my computer (Windows 7, 64-bit, WLAN). In order to do this, as far as I know, I must download the Minecraft server software, have the latest version of java, and forward my port. I have done both of these, but no one can access my server. My router is a NETGEAR WGT624 v3. I have gone to the router's settings by typing (the default gateway) in the address bar. I have set up a TCP/UDP service type port on 25565 with an IP address of Everything seems as though it should work; however, when I run the server, which successfully runs and I can connect to it locally, anyone outside of my local connection cannot connect to it. I give them my external IP address to connect to, but the connection times out after a minute or so. The server software doesn't recognize that anyone has tried to join either. I have gone to a port forwarding tester, and checked if port 25565 is open. It is closed. I have also tried allowing full connection through port 25565 on my firewall, and people still cannot join my server. I have even turned off Windows Firewall, and it does not work. I have searched the internet for an answer, and I cannot find one. Please help, and thank you.

So, I've been running a localhosted Minecraft server (Hamachi) from my Windows 8 PC for a couple of weeks. Worked fine. I then updated to 8.1. It still worked perfectly....For a week.

One day, I turned on my laptop after it was shut off, tried to loaded up Hamachi, loaded up my server, tried to connect and failed. No connection to my server what so ever.

So I re-Installed Hamachi. Several times actually with no success. Turned my Firewall off, completely. Still, nothing. Tried port-forwarding. But my Modem/Router doesn't support it, according to my ISP. Added Hamachi to my rules in the firewall. Nothing. Added Hamachi to the firewall acceptions, added all the Java programs to the firewall acceptations, ran Hamachi as Admin, made my PC's account Admin, started And stopped the Hamachi engine from the "Services" page on my PC, re-installed Java, re-installed the Minecraft server, system restored to the point where Hamachi was still working. All did nothing.

It is not my ISP's fault because Hamachi and my server seems to work fine on my Desktop (Windows XP), but I can't connect my laptop into the server. Even if I'm in the same network. I even turned off the firewall on the desktop...Nothing.

I feel that it is not Hamachi's fault at all, but the Firewalls since I read that windows 8.1 made changes to the firewall.

After posting this to the Hamachi forum, only 1 person replied telling me to scrap Hamachi and setup a VPN connection.... Read more

Ever sense the 1.8 came out my server has become super inefficient and painfully lagy. This is on a Linux machine with a direct connection to the internet. It's sole purpose is running this server with no GUI. It does not take a huge load of people and frankly not that much of intensive things happen on that server, but it is painfully slow. It runs the Bukkit program so if anyone knows of any way to make it more efficient it would be much appreciated.

Hey guys,
I'm putting together a Minecraft server for myself and a few friends.
I don't want it to take up space with a monitor, so is there a way that I could set it up on my network and use like Team viewer to access it remotely from my desktop, so I can update it and play directly on the server.

Any thoughts?

First off, I know this is the "Networking & Security" section, I believe the lag is a correlation to unoptimized NIC settings or something to that extent.
I've been running a Minecraft Server for almost a year. Our player size ranges from 50-100 players on at any time.

Lately I've been seeing with 80+ players, our CPU's gets hit really hard and I'm looking for ways to optimize this (Without recoding it to be multithreaded)

Here's a few specs:

i7 980x (clocked at 3.7ghz)
24GB DDR3 (1600Mhz ram)
Onboard NIC
Debian 5.0 (CLI)
Rampage III Formula
100Mbits connection
Java 7 (but have tried 6 with no change)
Ramdisk (4GB)
Java Flags (

I know this isn't a 'minecraft' support hosting thread - however I believe these issues steam from Network issues. We have an onboard NIC that may be crushing the CPU on the server keeping it at a constant 100%

Here's an mpstats ->
Here's a GC dump ->
Additional Info:
1) Debian 5.0 (CLI)
2) we're runnin 4, 500 TB Black Caviar HDD's in raid 5 (so 1.5tb)
3) Price is not an option for the NIC - we are using the onBoard Rampage III formula - i didn't think it'd fall on its face with what we're using it for =/
4) Debian, we use ipTables - no real use for an antivirus tbh.
5) Again, IPtables - we're behind a switch at the colohost.

Answer:Issues with Hosting... (Minecraft Server)

I used to build/support/run a lot of gaming servers...for big LAN parties..and co-located in data centers. For FPS games...starting with Quake 2, 3, Unreal Tournament versions, Call of Duty, Castle Wolf, Battlefield 1942/Vietnam and variants.

Some questions for you. First...I'm not familiar with Minecraft.

*What operating system is it running? If it's a desktop OS...they start to flatten out as you get above a dozen or twenty concurrent connections. A server is designed to handle many concurrent connections..and it will maintain performance better as more peeps log in.

*Disks? I see RAMdrive..what are you running any disks? High performance high cache ones?

*NIC..yes the NICs make a difference. Any old desktop NIC will do fine for a dozen or twenty users, but when you start getting past that..they'll start to fall on their face. Get a real server grade NIC. Intels rock...get a good server grade Intel. I also used to use 3COM 990svr NICs..a 150 dollar NIC back then..but they rocked!

*Antivirus on it? If you have the game directories in the exclusion list of real time protection?

*Software firewalls..a no-no. heavy traffic..and they bog you down.
*A good hardware firewall? Not a home grade gotta step up to a biz grade that can handle heavy bidirectional throughput with concurrent sessions.

*What is your internet connection to the server? Tested speeds....not ISP "promised up to" ... Read more

I want to make a Minecraft server for me and my brother to play on together, we both have Minecraft and i have the server up. I can get on it but I can't figure out how to get him on it. From what I understand I don't need to port forward because we are in the same house and on the same internet. I've tried putting the Ip address in the server address, but it always says it is out of reach.
Honestly I have never put up a server. I downloaded the software and ran everything. I have not done anything like port forwarding, I don't know how to and from what I've read I don't need. I can get on the server I jest can't get him on. We both have a PC both with Windows.

All I want is to have a server for us to play on. Thank you for any help. I really don't know how to do this so any help would be great.

Hey Windows Community,
So for some reason my son and I are not able to connect on Minecraft so we can play together. I am on a Windows 8.1 Pro machine and he is on a Windows 7 Professional machine. I have done some work on Bing and we each have our own copy of Minecraft (latest update), different IP addresses and the exceptions added to our firewalls. I will start the world and "open lan" and he will then go to mutliplayer but it just continues to show "scanning network". Even if we flip that process around it shows the same thing on my end. I am adding a screen shot of my Windows firewall exceptions and hoping you all might have some idea on what we can do to get this working. Thanks.

So my girlfriend and I have been playing MC for a while now on my server (separate households) and no problems have occurred until now. I have not changed any settings of the server or my router settings, but now all of a sudden she gets a "connecting......." message with a follow up "failed to connect" error. My port forwarding is fine, and so is the ip address I am giving her to connect.
And ideas to what may be wrong here?

Answer:Another classic Minecraft server connection issue

Ok, this one has been blank for a few days so I'll take a stab at it!

So you are hosting a game on your pc that your gal connects to. You have port 25565 forwarded to your pc running the MC server. You have given your gal your real world ip address so she can connect to your server. When she connects she gets a "connecting..." error. Have I got all of this correct?!?

Assuming all the above is correct, here's what I think... More than likely your ISP gives you a dynamic IP address, meaning it can change from time to time. To make sure you know what your "real world" outside IP address is, go to: this will give you the correct "real world" ip address. While you are there, check to see if the port is open for MC. Have the MC server running before hand, go to and type in port 25565, the website will tell you either "success" they were able to connect, or "fail" they were not able to connect. IF you get success then you have everything configured correctly on your end it may be something on her end - if not, then it's something on your end. Make sure your gal is connecting to that IP, on port: 25565 inside of MC. MC may or may not ask for a port number, I'm not 100% sure on that one because I do not play MC. IF she is still getting the errors, she needs to check her software firewall settings (built into win xp, vista, 7) or 3rd party "inte... Read more

Hello there! :)
I was planning on playing Minecraft with friends and had to stop after a while because of my computer getting this so-called BSOD. The strange thing is, that it doesn't happen every time or at the exact same time:
It ranges from 45 minutes upwards, but It's not like a guaranteed BSOD.

The minecraft server software is really simple, but I don't really think that it has an impact on the BSOD occuring (Should've been the same files getting shown to me after the crashed than (At least that's what I would expect)).

I used the tool you were reffering to in the post and attached the .rar to this post.

Hope you can help me fast! :)

P.s.: If you need any kind of additional information relating to the Minecraft-Server I ran at the given occasions, simply tell me what and how I could provide you with information.

Hello world!
I could use some help setting up my minecraft server so that others can connect to it and not just me. I have used the cmd to see my ipconfig numbers and then used this page to help me make a static ip:
I used the ip that I had made static using the guide link above as a way to connect to my server and as a result I'm the only one who can connect to my server. No idea why.

What I meant to do was to make a static ip that would allow for say people across the country to be able to connect to my server that I have been so meticulously implementing.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Am I using the correct ip? Should I have port forwarded my external ip somehow? Is there a way to make my server be connectable from say across the country instead of only me and without paying a service to do it
for me?

I run multiple Minecraft servers on my Windows 10 desktop. Just recently, I rebooted my PC to install updates, and now my servers can no longer communicate even though I have set up my static IP and port forwarded correctly. I have attached an image to prove that everything is set up to allow my servers to communicate, but that they cannot. I immediately figured out that the update must have caused the problem, and uninstalled it manually. Instantly the port jumped back online and players could once again connect. But it wasn't long before Windows 10 forced the update to reinstall and reboot the computer. Except this time, the update froze, leaving my computer at 37% installing updates for about 15 minutes before I gave up and manually shut the computer down by holding the power button. When it rebooted, it said the update had failed, and yet my servers remained disconnected from their ports. I told the computer to reinstall the update so it wouldn't force-reboot later. My troubleshooting process was interrupted my a Spring Break vacation. When I returned, my computer notified me that yet another update was available, and I installed it in the hopes that it had fixed the issue. No such luck. My friends and I are starting to miss our servers, but I have tried everything I can think of and my servers remain offline despite the ports being set up properly.

P.S. I checked Windows Firewall, and it is not blocking Java.

Answer:Minecraft Server Port Forwarding Issues

There are two IP addresses that you own - Internal (router) and External (provided by your ISP). If you got the port that communicates on your internal IP address, you will need it to connect to your external IP address. This will be the (external) IP address that you will give to your friends wanting to play with you on your server.

For example, my IP is currently Let's assume that my port is 25565. The IP address that I will give to my friends would be

I log in to my bank account on this computer so i was wondering if it is safe to use port forwarding.

Answer:Is it safe to portfoward when making a Minecraft server?

I log in to my bank account on this computer so i was wondering if it is safe to use port forwarding.Safe is a relative thing. Is it completely safe? No, as you are fully opening up a port that will essentially by pass the firewall type function of the router. And even if you have a software firewall running on the computer, you will have to "allow" that port for the server to work.Is it completely unsafe? No, as most ports will be blocked, so most paths to your computer will be relatively well protected. It is all a function then of how "paranoid" you want to be. Personally, I would not do it on a computer that I also use to log into a bank account. But, I am at least slightly more cautious than most.

The first thing that came to mind was that your public IP address has changed?
I would try putting your IP into DMZ (Demiliterized Zone) This will disabled any firewalls and stuff and make it as fast as possible. Try DMZ and see if people can connect and also test to see if everyone has the right public IP address.
As for the LAN i cant think of anything that would be stopping that at the moment.

If you are familiar with unblocking ports on the router then Unblock ports: 25565(TCP) and 25565(UDP)

If you are unfamiliar, you may need to look up a guide for your router. Or tell me the model you have and I will do my best to help you unblock the ports.

I have been reporting this to facebook for weeks, and no one gets back to me and nothing improves. I can't connect to their 'help'.

Answer:can't connect to friends or search on facebook

try to search your friends on another computer or device and see if it works. This will help you determine if it is your pc or facebook itself.

Hey all:

I have gotten two of these... one was from someone who doesn't seem to like me all that well... Is this legit? Or are people getting their address books stolen?

Answer:Solved: ??? Message to connect to friends on Yahoo...

There are lots of ways that spammers get email addresses. The main thing is do not reply, 'cause that just verifies that they have found a live address to which they will send even more junk.

You can ignore it, mark it as spam or junk if your email client has that feature, forward it (with the full header that you have shown here) to [email protected] and/or forward it to Yahoo!'s abuse address (if they have one; perhaps [email protected]).

I think that you have left your email address in the above post; I am going to edit it out just to save you from more spam.

Yeah I cannot connect my friends laptop to my wireless network. The wireless icon pops up saying there are wireless connections in range. Mine shows up in the list. It shows 5 bars. So I click to connect. Type in the passphrase. Then it does something strange. It doesnt try to connect. It refreshes the show all wireless networks again. Then it shows mine. So I click connect again. This time it shows that the passphrase has already been typed in. I then click to connect and then it trys to connect and after a minute or more it stops and shows that it hasnt connected. I have no idea what to do because I have directly connected this laptop with an ethernet cable from the router to the laptop and it connects fine. What should I try to do. I had his girlfriends laptop last week and it connected no problem. Weird.

So I've had my wifi working fine up until yesturday when I went to my friends, tried to find a network their, his apartment had a guest network that pulled up a CISCO login page but he didnt know the password so I didn't bother. Now I bring my laptop home and it wont find any networks including my own, which it was on just a few hours before. Tried uninstalling the driver, reinstalling via Windows 7 reboot. Updated a newer driver from Toshiba, and enabled and disabled the function-f8 key (wifi) many times to see if that was the problem. Be nice to have my wireless back if anyone can help.

I attached a screenshot of my ipconfig. thanks

Answer:Tried to connect to guest network at my friends, now I cant detect any wifi networks

download and copy xirrus onto the pc - and post an image back here

{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Direct link to the program is here
Then run and install the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
you could also try removing all the wireless profiles and reconnect with the wireless key again

I have received a new windows 7 pro computer to replace my old windows xp computer. I have used the Windows easy transfer tool to move the files from my old computer to the new one. The old computer is still connected for the time being. I named the computer the same name and have the same password. I did an update from xp to windows 7 on another computer and it seemed to work fine using the same process. It connected to the server automatically. I would really like to have it where the computer is just a workstation on the network and anyone can sign in with any name and password. How do I do it?

I have install the administration toolpack on Windows 7 and enabled remote connections on my server 2008 box, When i try and connect with my Windows 7 server manager it does not work.

I see stuff on google about enabling a trustedhost with winrm but can't find a way to do this.

this seem more difficult than it should be?

this is what I keep getting

Answer:Can't connect to Server 2008 via Windows 7 Administration tools/Server Manager

Check Technet for the WinRM reference and or make sure that WinRM is enabled on the servers you are trying to access.

Use group policy to enable it if you need to do a bunch of machines at once. I'm using this with no problems.

For a school project, I am comparing which OS is more suitable for setting up a Minecraft Server (same specs, just different OS)
Which OS is more suitable? Are their any compatibility issues with 8? Does one run smoother than the other?
Thanks in advance!

Answer:Windows 8 vs Windows Vista for Minecraft Server

From a user perspective -- windows vista is a pain in the arse for anything.

From a technical aspect, you may want to try the minecraft forums as they would be more technical and would have more insight.

I am not able to connect to OPC server for non admin user in windows server 2003.

I get Runtime error '-536608665(e0040067)':
Failed to connect OPC server.
The system returned the following error message:
Access is denied

But i can connect non admin user to opc server in Windows xp

Is it possible for non admin user to connect OPC server in windows server 2003?

OPC server and client are on same system

Please give me your feedback

Answer:Non Admin not able to connect OPC server in Windows Server 2003

From what I've read on this thread, you'll need to set computer-wide DCOM security permissions. You'll want to peruse that thread.

On another note, this isn't really the best spot for this question. An error message isn't a crash, hang or bsod, and the situation is more relevant to specifically the Windows Server section (even though OPC servers can and often do exist in many client versions of Windows). You'll be able to receive more help there, as it's pertinent to your needs.

Answer:Can't connect to Server 2008 via Server Manager on Windows 7?

edit, I was wrong. https requires a non self signed cert
do the following in powershell, this is for powershell remoteing but it does the winrm stuff as well:

on the server:

Enable-PSRemoting –force
on the client:

Start-Service WinRM
Set-ItemProperty –Path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System –Name LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy –Value 1 –Type DWord
Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts –Value <ServerName> -Force -Concatenate

Be warned that this is very insecure.

I'm in the process of installing an application server that requires SQL Server 2008 R2 (x64) on a separate device. However, I'm noticing this error message whenever I try to install the application through its proprietary configuration tool:

ERRO: CheckDBCreation failed to create database. Error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections (provider: TCP Provider, error: - = No such host is known).
ERRO: CheckDBCreation failed to drop database
ERRO: The provided SQL user may not have permissions to create and drop databases.
ERRO: ConfigureServer: The Configuration did not validate
ERRO: Task 'ValidateConfiguration' Failed (Exit Code=1)

This is what I have done so far:

On Server:
- Installed Client Tools
- Set it as Mixed-Mode Authentication (Windows + SQL)
- Created inbound rule on Windows Firewall to allow TCP 1433 (SQL Connection) and UDP 1434 (SQL Browser Service) from a small IP scope (only have four "test" servers in my network) under Domain, Public, and Private
- Created SQL accounts in Server Management Studio and verified that they are able to connect to SQL

Answer:Client(s) can't connect to SQL Server 2008 R2 server

You were on the right track, but having the server listen on localhost/ may or may not be what you want. Regardless, you need to tell SQL to bind to the ethernet interface since you're trying to connect to it over the network.

Do a netstat -a on the server and see if you have or the ethernet interface:1433. You could also do telnet serverip 1433.

If it's not listening on the desired interface, you need to look up how tell SQL to bind to that interface (I don't know, I'm not familiar with it either).

I have never had a POE switch in the head end used for server connectivity. Are there any down sides? Forget the costs, someone wants to put it in, and only if its bad, should they not.

Answer:POE to connect a server -> will it harm the server?

I've got a client with about 10 x 24 port Adtran POE switches. All sorts of gear plugged into them without issues. Naturally IP phones, cisco ATA's, other trunked switches, also a few servers. See if this helps.

Hey...there may be a million posts about this already but I had a virus in my computer that made my away message say something about "I LOVE YOU" with a link that made you install a backdoor virus. I got rid of it for a few weeks by using Hijack This. Now when I put an away message up and leave when I come back the message says something about "Still Friends?" and has another virus link. I have HPDM running on the server. The console on the server logs in fine with localhost as server address. Now on my laptop, I have just the console installed. Upon the login screen, I put in server name, username, and password. I have also tried IP of server and multiple user accounts that I have confirmed good on the server. Then I get the generic login error from HPDM: HPDM Server Connection ErrorError connection to Device Management Server, Device Management Server may be down. The connection with the Device Management Server has been broken, press 'OK' to reconnect, or press 'Cancel' to exit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be firewall issue. On the server, check to make sure ports 1099,40002,40005,40006 & 40009 can get through. Especially port 1099 for the Remote Proceedure calls. On the PC running the remote Console, make sure ports 5500 & 40004 are open. I've attached a script that will open all ports needed for HP Device Manager. You can run this (as admin) on both the server and the console or edit for just the component that is needed.

For some reason i can't seem to connect to any FTP server i use online. This feature was working fine for me before and now it doesn't. My OS is WindowsXP Pro, I think it may have to do with my network settings. Im using an online videogame system but that's not what the problem is, I use Internet Explorer to access the net, and even normal FTP sites online I can't access. for example:

I try to access this FTP, and all I get is:

"Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you type the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.

Details: A connection with the server could not be established."
My network specs are:

Cable/DSL (Comcast Connection)
(x1)Wireless router "attached". (The computer I'm describing is hooked up to a modem, that has a wireless router run through it. Router= Wireless-B Broadband. Model= BEFW11S4)
There is only (x1)computer feeding off that wireless router.

Can someone please help me?

Answer:Cannot Connect to FTP server

Here's what I did:

click>Control panel
click>Network Connections
right-click>The connection you're using
Put a check mark in FTP server.
