How to create a document scrolls horizontally

Question: How to create a document scrolls horizontally

Hi, I am looking for a way to create a document in landscape that scrolls horizontally rather than vertically, also I would like the page to be continuous. Is this even possible? I don?t really want to use a massive sheet of paper to do this as it will be saved as a pdf and will not be easy to navigate through.

Many thanks

Richard

Preferred Solution: How to create a document scrolls horizontally

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a friend that is running Windows 8.1.  He is using Microsoft Works 9.0.  When ever he opens a document the text begins to scroll through the document.  If he stops it and begins to enter text, it continues scrolling.

I am not sure it is the scroll key on his keyboard or a setting.  If anyone has experienced this I would sure appreciate how you have overcome the problem.

Thanks in advance.

This is probably a stupid question. I got a new laptop a few days ago, and am very happy with it. There is one small flaw and I am wondering if it can be fixed. When I right click and go to new, whether I be in documents, pictures, a jump drive, etc., there is no WordPad or Rich Text Document option. There is Microsoft Office Word Document, Journal Document, and Text Document as well as other things, however, I prefer WordPad to these. (Microsoft Word is okay to, but I only have a trial and I don't want to buy the full version, and I prefer WordPad regardless.) I know that WordPad is on my computer because I can access it through program files, as well as open documents with it. However it is not an option under New. Note: My laptop has Vista (although I hope to switch to XP soon), not sure if this makes a difference. If there is any way to create new WordPad documents (besides opening WordPad and saving a new document) please let me know! Thanks! -SV

Hello everyone and thanks for your time.
I have been using Windows 7 for a long time and have gotten used to all the keys, mouse movements etc for opening stuff. Recently I bought a new Laptop with same version of Windows installed (Ultimate). However, when I right click the Desktop, the context menu of New does not show the option to Create a New Text Document. This is proving to be a real pain in the back . I have Notepad installed (by Default as it should be), and double-clicking *.txt files opens it, but the shortcut is nowhere to be seen. Please tell me why this is so and the easiest and most painless way (preferably without the need to Install something e.g. Registry Entry or Portable Program/Single *.exe Program would be better) to do it.
Thanks.

Answer:How to Create a New Text Document ?

Hello Forz,

You might see if using step 10 in the tutorial below will be able to restore New -> "Text Document" for you.New Context Menu - Remove & Restore Default Menu Items
If it doesn't, then download and merge the .reg file for the listed txt option in the tutorial below to restore it's default associations.Default File Type Associations - Restore
Hope this helps,

MY TASK
I'm trying to create a new *.htm document using Notepad, which I should then be able to view in Internet Explorer by double clicking the *.htm file.

PROBLEM:
I can't create a new file with an .htm extension. I only have the option of creating a .txt file in NotePad. (I'm presuming) that since my file doesn't have the .htm extension, when I double click it I can't view it in Internet Explorer. (I have got the <HTML> & </HTML> tags at beginning and end of the notepad file).

I knew how to do this in the old Word, but I can't figure it out in Office 2000 Word. It seems to only want me to do a letter merge. I have a data source document and a basic document that I need to add merge fields to, but I don't see a choice other than letter nor can I figure out how to add the fields where I want them (not as a recipient; it isn't a letter). It was relatively straight forward before, why is it so difficult now?

Answer:Word; create form document

I am currently on 2003, so cannot recreate exactly what you are doing, but I might have a helpful suggestion anyway. If you go to View -> Toolbars -> Mail Merge it should give you the toolbar at the top of the window that will have access to placing merge fields.

Please let me know if this helped you any, or if you found another solution.

I'm trying to create what for all intents and purposes is an e-book that includes some animated figures, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this.It will be a very long text document (circa 80,000 words), which will need to have consistent styles, automated numbering systems for headings, figures, etc, and a means of handling references, such as what you see with EndNote and similar programs. The animations are currently gif images, and they will need to loop when displayed in the document. The final product would be saved as a pdf, which I understand is capable of displaying animations?Does anyone know if it is possible to get Word 2010 to handle animations, and if so, how? I know it's capable of all the other requirements, although it's a bit dodgy and prone to corruption with long documents, so I'll use sub-documents and a good backup system to get around this.Alternatively, does anyone know of a good text editor that would meet all the above requirements?Thanks in advance for your advice.

Answer:How to create a text document with animations

To the best of my knowledge, you can NOT display animation in a Word doc.If you save the document as a Web page, you can see the animation with a browser,but that does not sound like what you have in mind.Powerpoint may be an alternative, but I'm not sure.Alternatively, does anyone know of a good text editor that would meet all the above requirements?Here is a couple of lists:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...http://ebooks-software-review.topte...You can probably find more using a Google search.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

I have searched everywhere on the web and I can't find a solution for it.
I changed my default text editor from notepad to PSPad (Programming), and after that my ability to add New Text Documents by right-clicking and going to New>Text Document has disappeared. I don't know how to fix it, I even tried putting Notepad as the default again, but it didn't work.

Answer:[SOLVED] Can't Create New Text Document

Hi, may not be easy to do this however lets see what you have here. Go to start, search and type regedit the reg editor will open Navigate to:-

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt\ShellNew]
and expand in the right payne look for the string value "Item Name"
it should have this entry against Item Name:-
@%SystemRoot%\system32\notepad.exe,-470

If not then right click select modify and copy and paste the above into the box. Reboot to take effect.

If you wish you can select file from regedit and export this key to desktop call it txt.reg and if anything goes wrong you can double click it to merge back to registry.

If doing this worries you just tell us what you see in the registry , I can write you a .reg file to do this for you.

Dear friends,

each time I try to open a particular program (Mathcad 15) I get the message 'Failed to create empty document'.
Then the program goes on but is useless because I cannot open an new or existing document.
In my opinion this is a permission problem because the program runs without a problem within the hidden administrator account.
I tried a lot of things:
running as administrator
setting permissions for the program
taking ownership

nothing works.
This is very annoying because I have a huge library of MCad document I can't open anymore.
Well I could when I login as hidden administrator but this is not a good idea I suppose.

I have windows vista. Everytime I try to open MS Paint I get an error saying: "failed to create empty document". Any online solutions I've read have either:

1. Involved there also being a problem with wordpad giving the error "failed to create empty document" as well, and it's not.

or

2. It doesn't tell me how to fix the problem for Vista, only has solutions for Windows XP or lower.

Any suggestions? I tried going to an online computer tech chat and that didn't me absolutely no good. All that resulted in was my getting angry at ignorant people asking very stupid questions and the tech guys basically telling me I was out of luck because they had never heard such a thing. Please help.

(This is about a different, new computer.)

Computer was asleep early this morning, but after SuperAntiSpyware ran, it dir not go back to sleep. Testing showed that automated sleep is not working. Rebooted, got a pop-up box with the text as shown in the title of this message.

Ran the MS diagnostic for this problem, using msconfig; no luck. Googled for the error, not much there, but did try a few things. Turned off router, so not likely to be a address conflict, as one person was able to fix the problem through that route.

Ran another SuperAntiSpyware scan, a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan, one with Avast!, and the on-line HouseCall scan; nothing found. I have run a few of Dell's on-line diagnostics, nothing found so far.

I would appreciate knowing how to inoculate the computer, or what spell to cast thereupon, or how to properly remove the enchantment, or even anything actually related to repairing the whatever-it-is that is causing a probably very useful empty document to not be created. (Oh, yes, CCleaner was also ran, which deleted lots o temporary files, etc.)

==

After posting this fascinating missive, I ran one of the MS Fixit programs, which did find that the Recycle Bin was corrupt and fixed it. I rebooted; sadly, I still got the pop-up error message, but yet one more test of the sleep function found the computer willing to obey its master, as first the monitor and then the computer went to sleep with a one-minute setting.

Hi,

I am using Word 2010.

I have a really long Word document with different topics.

I would like to create a Table of content at the top of that document so that I can click on that topic & it will take me directly to that topic without me trying to scroll down the whole document to find that topic. ( Just like a book in Word Format with table of content & clicking the topic to go directly to that topic without going thru the whole book page by page )

I tried to create a hyperlink for each topic but Word created the hyperlink at the same place where the topic was listed, so that doesn't help.

I also tried to copy & paste that hyperlink at the top of the document but that didn't work either.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Creating a simple website for my friend in a band. He'll need to update it maybe once a week w/ dates, showtimes, etc. HOWEVER, he is not technically inclined. I want to make it so he can just type what he needs into a text document (like Word/Notepad (or the Mac equivalent)) on his laptop (a Mac), save it, and have that update his page. I'd rather not have him wade through HTML.

I'm a graphic designer and somewhat technically inclined, but woefully ignorant about this stuff. What program / format would be both good for this purpose and simple enough if I'm only looking to learn this element? Are there any free tutorials online about it? I know Flash and Actionscript, but maybe there is a better tool out there for this...

Also, I'd like for there to be a way he could update photos by himself. Maybe he could have a folder on his laptop with say 3 pictures that he names pic1, pic2, pic3, where if he saves a new photo to one of those names, the new photo fills that slot. Or some better way?

FYI: I use a PC.

My sincere thanks for any help or insight...

I'm having a couple problems that could be related.

1. On Citrix - I'm having disconnections, even though the user remain active. So it's not the "Disconnection/Hybernation" that happens when a user is inactive.

2. To investigate the disconnection, I check the Event Viewer on Win2k3, when I click on "Manage", I get the following error: Failed to create empty document.

It goes away if I reboot the server.

Server config: PIII 800MHZ, 1+gig MB Dell Poweredge
Win 2k3, Citrix 4.0

Answer:Windows 2k3 - Citrix: Failed to create empty document

Perhaps there is some error with the way Citrix is creating log entries. It may need certain account level access to write a log entry. Is there also an add on that Citrix creates inside of the management console?

This will be a delivery document having 3 copies, each copy needs the same serial number.
The serial number needs to increment by +1 after each print but any information entered needs to be reset to blank.
A user form for input ?
Excel or Word (no mailmerge)
Document will reside in a shared folder on a server.
Needs to be user friendly (Idiot proof!)

Answer:Auto create a sequential serial number for a document

It is possible in Excel. I know of no way to do it in Word. The method is simple.
1. Create the template workbook with all the fields you see fit.
2. Copy the code below into the code module of the workbook

Code:
Private Sub Workbook_BeforePrint(Cancel As Boolean)
Dim cdp As DocumentProperty

On Error GoTo NoSuchProperty
Set cdp = ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties("PrintCounter")
cdp.Value = cdp.Value + 1
ActiveSheet.Range("A1") = cdp.Value
ThisWorkbook.Save
Exit Sub
NoSuchProperty:
ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties.Add Name:="PrintCounter", LinkToContent:=False, Type:=msoPropertyTypeNumber, Value:=0
Set cdp = ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties("PrintCounter")
Resume Next
End Sub

The code looks up the custom document property called "PrintCounter". If the property doesn't exist, it will be created.
Before each print attempt, the counter will be increased by one, and the workbook (with the new propery value) will be saved.
The code displays the counter in cell A1, but it can be displayed anywhere, even in header or footer, even as part of a longer string.

I just reinstalled XP Professional on a year old Acer laptop and am suddenly getting various Parser file errors as well as "failed to create empty document" errors. This occurs during just about any operation I attempt to execute on the computer, even when trying to access device manager. From what I've learned about these errors it has to do with MMC but I haven't been able to find out what to do to fix the problem. If it would be best to reinstall XP again, I don't mind but what has caused this to happen in the first place?

Okay I know there is a ton of things out there on the web about "Failed to create empty document". The problem is I am not finding anything out there for Windows Server 2008 and most are just small time fixes that are not working for me.

1) None of the programs I need to access MMC's with work. (AD related, Server Service related,
2) Just typing in MMC and opening a blank one yields the same problem.
3) Anyone Remote desktoped in with any account can't get to it either.

Here is the interesting part... On Vista and XP PCs I can remote connect directly to the computer management and do everything I can through the Computer Manager MMC on a remote PC. (For instance I was able to get to disk management on the server by connecting to it on a vista box and then I was able to format the newly added drive and mount it as the next drive letter.

I am not finding anything in the event logs when I try and open it to give me any errors to look up.

I use Windows XP. I installed and ran the Avast grime fighter and then found two of my programs - one for tax preparation and one for backing up to an external hard drive - won't "open". Instead, I get the error message "failed to create empty document". I uninstalled the programs then reinstalled them, but no change - I still get the message. I saw, by googling the message, that it may have something to do with a windows registry file, but I really don't understand what that is or how to get to it or how to fix it. I contacted the Avast folks and they said they could put me in touch with their microsoft folks for $180! I am at a loss as to what I should do. Please can anyone help me figure out what to do to get these programs to run? I really need the tax program especially. Thank you.

Every time I open wordpad, or an RTF file (associated with WordPad), an error message comes up saying "Failed to Create Empty Document".

I'm running on XP, and I don't have my XP disk anymore, if that's needed or not..

I am working with windows 7 64 bit on an HP HDX. I have always been able to place my mouse pointer on the edge of my windows page and get a double sided arrow. Then I could hold down the mouse key and be able to drag the window to a smaller size and then if I released the button the window would stay at that size. Now if I put my mouse arrow on the side nothing happens. Only if I use the restore up or down box in the upper right corner will it work but if I try to open a new window it will go back to full size. Also if I place my mouse arrow on the menu bar and try to drag that window it automatically snaps to the restore down position. Have I done something to cause this and can I get it back to where it was before? Thank you.

Answer:can't resize windows horizontally

HI jeffcp

Dont know if you have fixed this issue now but my best guess is that you have done nothing wrong and this is a normal occurance of Windows and how Explorer or IE windows display on the screen, its likely the normal way you set your Windows reset to opening full screen, which does not give you the mouse pointer arrows to resize.

Try clicking restore down on an IE page (only have one page/tab open) then resize the windows manually then hold down the Windows key and click the red X to close the window, then reopen and see if it has kept its size.

Could be you need to disable http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/products/features/snap http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/how-do-i-turn-snap-on-or-off

It never rains but it pours :-( Having sorted my BB connection, I've now got a display problem:My whole display is shifted about a quarter of the height of the screen upwards, which means that the bottom (start button etc.) is about quarter way up the screen, and the top of the display (the X and - buttons, etc.) has 'spilled over' and comes up at the bottom of the screen. While I'm booting up, the screen is normal -- it only shifts when the Windows XP welcome screen comes on. I can access everything on the screen, the mouse disappears off the top and reappears at the bottom, and vice-versa.I've started my PC in safe mode, and the display is normal. Does this mean that it's a problem with the graphics card?

Answer:Display split horizontally

Try updating the drivers in Device Manager. You'll find it under Display adaptors. You can uninstal there as well, but I should await guidance on that!

Three days ago (is that all? Seems like weeks now) I bought my very first desktop computer (refurbished). It's a Dell Optiplex 790. I notice four little feet on one side of the tower and four little feet on another side. It looks at though the tower could be placed on its side using those feet, or stood up vertically on those other feet. Does it matter if the tower lies on its side or is stood up vertically?

Hi guys.Recently, my sister's monitor has been giving her some grief. It was first flickering. This was sometimes cured with a degauss. Now the problem is that the picture on the monitor becomes squashed horizontally (so it goes thinner widthways). I don't think there is anything causing this to happen. The computer hasn't had anything installed on to it recently that would cause this (at least not to my knowledge) so I am thinking that either the graphics card or the montiro are on their way out.The graphics card is about 18-24 months old and the monitor is coming up for it's 4th birthday. The monitor is a Packard Bell 17" and the graphics card is a TNT32 PCI (no AGP port I'm afraid :-().Any advice on this issue would be extremely welcome.Kind regards

Answer:Monitor horizontally squashed

sounds like both monitor and graphics card or one of them...I would try another monitor and see how you go with that...since you dont have an AGP slot in the motherboard you can get another PCI graphics card and try that too....but change monitor first...get yourself a cheap 17" CRT for about £50-£60 or second hand even...

Right-click on the desktop and select "Properties," under the "Settings" tab, adjust the resolution until your screen is back to normal.

Iv looked hard but cant work this out.

Sometime ago I was looking at something on the screen and must have hit a key or two and the screen stretched out, so now rifles look really long etc. Apparently pets cats do this a bit, walking cross the keyboard. I see the various commands with the windows key and another key or two, but no luck yet returning it to normal. Screen Resolution doesn't help, it will only go high or low, and not as high as it should.

A clue might be, to turn on Wi-Fi, I only need to press the wi-fi light, I dont have to press the FN and F8 together. (Got a Wifi driver too)

Any idea which keys to press to get in back to normal?

Howdy,The arrows to click on in order to move the screen horizontally have disappeared. The vertical arrows are still there.Here is a screen shot.The only thing I did yesterday out of the ordinary was enlarge the print of a book that I was reading online. I held the Ctrl key down and rotated the mouse wheel to enlarge. I then put it back to it's origanal setting. (or close to it)Any advice ?Thanks,Dennis

Answer:I Can't Move My Screen Horizontally

it would seem your talking about scrolling left to right while inside a web page.

This is what happens.

a web page is too big horizontally for your display settings, so the browser throws a horizontal scroll bar in there so you can see the whole page.

a web page is not too big horizontally for your display settings, so the browser does not need to use the horizontal scroll bar.

if you really want that bar back...

in ie, go to page > zoom > 100%

if its already selected, just find a page thats too wide for your display settings. (some myspace pages are like this)

Lately I have been having an issue with my mouse. After a few minutes online my mouse stops functioning. It looses all ability to move vertically. It remains stuck and can only move horizontally. When I close my browser the mouse still only moves horizontally on my desktop. I can reboot and the mouse returns to normal until the next time online.

Im using Win 98 SE and IE 5.5.

Could this be a video card issue since the mouse fails on my desktop too?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
cg

Answer:Mouse only moves horizontally in IE

Hi,

Assuming you have a normal ball mouse

Clean the rollers inside after removing the ball, or take the mouse apart and clean it

Does this happen with any other mouse

Does your mouse work normally on a other computer.

If this doesn't work.

Move the Hardware Acceleration tab slide back one notch.

This happens so I have to move the page a long way from right to left several times to read each line.

I suppose this is due to some odd format of the sender although other emails from the same sender fit normally. I am using Gmail.

Can I do something to fit these in a readable format? Please advise - thanks

Answer:Some emails spread too far horizontally.

Not sure if mail programs have the feature "word wrap" like standard word programs.  Poke around to see if it is in options or someplace else.

Hi, I've seen couple previous posting in regards of how to get rid of "blank cells." However, my case may be a bit different.My data are like this....ItemA (blank) contentB (blank) (blank) (blank) (blank)ItemB contentA contentB (blank) (blank) (blank) (blank)ItemC (blank) (blank) (blank) (blank) (blank) contentFItemD (blank) (blank) (blank) contentD contentE contentFThis is a gigantic list, and I cannot use sort function. Is there a way to build a formula and/or other methods to skip the blank cell, and put the cells w/ content right next to each other as....ItemA contentBItemB contentA contentBItemC contentFItemD contentD contentE contentFPlease shed some light for me.Thank you.

Answer:Skip blank cells - horizontally

There is no formula that will do what you want.It is going to require a macro. Assuming your data starts in A1, this code should do it.I suggest you try the code in a backup copy of your workbook since macros cannot be undone.
Option Explicit
Sub delBlankCells()
Dim lastRw, lastCol, rw, col As Integer
'Find last row with data in Column A
lastRw = Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
'Loop through Rows
For rw = 1 To lastRw
'Find last column with data in current row
lastCol = Cells(rw, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column - 1
'Check each cell in row, delete blank ones
For col = lastCol To 2 Step -1
If Cells(rw, col) = "" Then
Cells(rw, col).Delete shift:=xlToLeft
End If
Next
Next
End SubPosting Tip: Before posting Data or VBA Code, read this How-To.

ok, ive tried to do a few things but i cannot get my mouse to move left or right....however it will move vertically just fine.  This just happened out of nowhere a few weeks ago.  if i try to move left or right the mouse barely moves, it just kinda jerks to the left of the screen, and there is no way to drag it back to the right, the more you try the more it slowly sucks it to the left of the screen.....i cleaned out my mouse and made sure that the rollers could be read because its a ball mouse.....what could be my problem and how do I fix it? thanks

Answer:My mouse wont move horizontally

Quotemade sure that the rollers could be readIf the ball is clean & the rollers are clean & free to turn and the problem persists then it is probably a broken wire just near the mouse entry point.This can be fixed but really a new laser type mouse with one of those new fangled scroll wheels is the way to go.

Hi there
I am using an HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook which has a Radeon HD 7470m display driver.
I am using two displays, with one placed directly above the other.
The driver allows two displays, but expects them to be side by side. ..
... so I move the mouse to the right to go to the top screen, and from the top screen I have to move the mouse to the left to get to the bottom screen.
This is doing my head in!
Is there any way of getting the driver to respond to the up and down, rather than side by side nature of my set-up.
Methinks NO ... but perhaps you may know better.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Answer:Dual Displays - placed vertically .. not horizontally?

Try this. Use the "Monitors" application under System/Prefences and just drag the right hand monitor above the left hand monitor. Click apply and you're done.
Also from Microsoft. On the Display
screen, just drag the images of the monitors to the position you
physically have them in.

Answer:DVD drives working horizontally and vertically?

To work on its side the drive needs those little things to hold the disc when inserting. Well. Not neccesary, you can also flip your computer over when inserting a disc.

i was torn between adding this in "Software" or "Programming", but i thought it might be a question geared more towards you programmers.

anyway, i need a way to copy multiple lines of text (a rather large block of plain text), add a [space][-][space] then paste the lines again somehow.

example:

Code:
this is the first line of text
this is the second line of text
this is the third line of text
this is the fourth line of text
would become

Code:
this is the first line of text - this is the first line of text
this is the second line of text - this is the second line of text
this is the third line of text - this is the third line of text
this is the fourth line of text - this is the fourth line of text
maybe someone knows of a trick or a script to do this?
i've looked at a couple pieces of software (bkreplacem, text magician, and have been trying to figure this out for a long time, but i can't wrap my head around the subject.

Answer:paste a block of text horizontally

Well if your a programmer, pretty simple to do

Here is some java that does exactly that, you could use a writer to write it back out to a text file, write now I just send it to standard output

Code:
import java.io.*;

public class copyTxt{

public static void main(String[] args)
{
try{
FileReader text = new FileReader("test.txt");
BufferedReader bRead = new BufferedReader(text);
boolean eof = false;

while(!eof)
{
String tmpString = bRead.readLine();
if(tmpString == null)
eof=true;
else
System.out.println(tmpString + " - " + tmpString);
}//end while
bRead.close();

}//end try
catch(IOException e)
{
System.out.println(e.toString());
}

}//end main

}//end copyTxt

Example output

Code:
this is the first line of text - this is the first line of text
this is the second line of text - this is the second line of text
this is the third line of text - this is the third line of text
this is the fourth line of text - this is the fourth line of text

Hi all, I pretty much always use my Trackpoint to scroll (with the middle button). But several sites I visit see horizontal scrolls as triggers to change page. So, I'll be reading a page, scrolling down via the Trackpoint -- and at some point I'll have deviated enough from vertical to trigger the horizontal behavior -- and I'll then be shuttled off to a page I don't mean to be on. Is there any way to configure the Trackpoint scroll to ONLY scroll vertically? If not, is there perhaps a way to get Google Chrome to stop listening to the horizontal scroll? Thanks, it's actually quite a PITA for some sites I visit.

Access - displaing rows horizontally

I am playing with Access to create a golf score average program. I want to show the last three scores of each player on a form or report horizontally.

Scores contains Name, date and score. The key is Name. I want the data to show the player and their last 3 scores(sowing date and score), something like this.

Name Last score- --Previous-- --Third ago-
Mia -7/21/04 95- -7/12/04 90- -7/11/04 88-
Jim -7/21/04 75- -7/10/04 80- -7/02/04 78-
Tex -6/12/04 84- -6/01/04 88- -4/21/04 85-

How do I take individual Rows and spread them this way in Access or do I have to use VB?

Thanks Again for your help.

Answer:Access - displaing rows horizontally

You should be able to just use the wizard to create a report that lists like so:

Name
Date1
Date2
Date3

Then go into the report design and move the labels into the header, like so:

NameLabel Date1Label Date2Label Date3Label

And then, in the detail section, put the controls:

Name Date1 Date2 Date3

So that they're aligned under the labels in the header section.

If you can't get it to work, it *should* be very simple, and you can email it to [email protected].

No VBA required...

I cannot scroll horizontally in firefox although vertical scrolling is possible I've Thinkpad T400, Win 7 32 bit, latest synaptics drivers installed (as of this post) and firefox 3.5.5 I've added the following line to both TP4scrol.dat  and TP4table.dat C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\ which didn't had any effect after a restart. ;Firefox*,*,firefox.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9  By the way, the google picasa 3.5 is also installed and its executable filename is picasa3.exe unlike what is recorded in TP4scrol.dat and TP4table.dat as picasa2.exe. I changed that to picasa3.exe but the scroll inside picasa was still inactive. Finally I ran the ultranav installation file and got the the location where it was extracted (C:\DRIVERS\WIN\UNAV). I altered the TP4scrol.dat and TP4table.dat which were residing there and reinstalled the drivers. The picasa issue was resolved and I had also added NokiaOviSuite.exe to the list which enabled scrolling in it, too.But the firefox horizontal scrolling is stil inactive.  As Firefox is a popular browser, I think lenovo should consider including its support in its products. I'd appreciate any help.

As soon as I start the first level, the view spins out of control horizontally left. It's in a constant high speed spin. I'm assuming it's a mouse problem. No matter what I do with the mouse, it keeps spinning. The frame rate is fine and every other aspect of the game is working properly.

(i have no idea what the issue could be for, so I'm placing it in this. move this when we find a definite problem)

Hello, I have been having an issue with my HP Notebook 2000.

Every few months or so, odd lines dice my computers screen horizontally (sometimes, depending on the place its in, the lines may also have some stray pixels in some parts). The colors are only white and black (to what i can tell), they are only one or two pixels wide, and only appear on the screen for a fraction of a second. Another portion of this is that it is screen-dependent (i guess that's how to put it) For example, the lines appear in a different place whether or not I'm not a certain tab (aka the lines appear somewhere else on Youtube than Google) or when I'm on a different area of a webpage, by lets say, scrolling down.. It does nothing to any files, but it has been going on for quite a while, annoying me, and I would like it removed, as this has been going on for around 1 1/2 years.

I would take a screenshot, but again, it is difficult, as I don't know if it's the memory of my computer, or just a screen issue, and with the fact that it only appears for a fraction of a second is another gripe of getting a picture.

I want to believe it's a graphics card issue, however, I haven't found any concrete evidence leaning to this. And if it is, I have no idea how to resolve this.

Answer:Odd lines randomly appearing horizontally across screen

Check the routing of the video cable from the display to the PC. Sometimes if they are routed near power cords you get artifacts like that on the display.

Windows 7 Professional
Dell 2209WA Monitor

I used to have Windows XP Professional on my computer with the same monitor above.

Yesterday Windows 7 Professional was installed.

The display of the desktop is horizontally stretched. Circular icons are now oblong, fonts in various applications are stretched sideways.

When I press the menu button on the monitor itself to adjust the settings I can find a "Wide Mode" option. I can either select that, or deselect that. If I deselect that the label changes to "4:3" with no options to adjust that ratio. Deselecting "Wide Mode" gets rid of the graphical distortion, but the display of the desktop stops sort of the edges of the screen, but about an inch on the right and left sides.

I tried switching to every other screen resolution available and none of the other resolutions helped the issue. I also went to the Dell site and installed a new driver, no dice
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/...ct/dell-2209wa

I'm new to Windows 7, it looks like many things are switched around.

I don't mine posting more information about my machine, but I will need help in where to find it.

Could this be a driver issue?

Thanks much in advance for any help or information.

Steve

Hi

I have an Excel spreadsheet containing company inventories.

I have a sheet that has a list of all installed software. I have another sheet that calculates total installs (this has to be seperate for our auditing purposes).

The first sheet has the sofware titles at the top, e.g. Office (column A), Oracle (Column B), PSP8 (Column C), etc and so on... with row headings being each computer we have's ID. eg PC01

I transposed the column headings from the previous sheet into rows, so it now reads:

Row1: Oracle
Row2: Office
Row3: PSP8

etc, with the column headings on this sheet being "Licences held", "Installed", etc

In the 2nd sheet (where I calculate values), I have the following formula:

=(SUM('Main Inventory'!D$2$63) + COUNTIF('Main Inventory'!D$2$63,"Uninstal"))

This formula has to be copied downwards. The range from 2 to 63 has to stay the same (hence why I used partial absolute addressing). However, the column letter needs to change from D to E to F and so on as it is copied down. As it is, it doesn't do this. I somehow thought that having it as D$2$63 would solve this problem

Help!

So from the title itself. I have a G502 Proteus Spectrum and it has the latest drivers. The sides scrolling works on Browsers, Task Manager, Notepad/++, Visual Studio 2012. The side scroll also doesn't work on my laptop (W8.1, Excel 2013). If there's anything that could enable this, it would be a big help for me.

Edit:
To clarify, the G502 has a feature where you can click the mouse wheel to the sides so that the program can scroll horizontally.

Answer:Can't horizontally scroll via mouse wheel in Excel 2016

Give this a shot as found here. You can also try holding shift then scroll down and it might just go horizontal doing that.

Solution:
Right-click on the status menu in Excel (bottom left corner of Excel window, normally says "READY") and de-select "Scroll Lock" option.

I have owned this Y450 for over a year now and this problem has manifested itself a few too many times for comfort.

The problem that I suffer with this laptop is that the display is split identically into 2 desktops placed onto each other. When this problem occurs it also occurs at boot time, as well as after boot when I am at the desktop. Safe mode doesn't work either. I do notice when this problem occurs the name of my display driver changes. When the display is working fine the display driver is something similar to "Intel Mobile 4100 display driver", and when it is not functioning it says standard vga driver; something similar to that.  This also causes a change in resolution. It changes from 1376 x 768 to 1024 x 768. I have tried plugging in my laptop into my 32'' HDTV monitor and the picture is not split on that monitor.

This problem sometimes goes away and for that reason I believe it must be a problem talking to the GPU of the graphics card. Maybe something is blocking airflow or connectivity to the GPU and thus giving me problems; whereas the system will work fine in the rare case that it does talk to the GPU successfully?

I have sent in this laptop to Lenovo once before several months ago. When I received the laptop back from them the issue began after a week.

I have also taken a picture of this problem because it is difficult to adequately explain the issue here:

(Microsoft Excel) How would you display a line of text to show vertically after each text in one cell? For example:
Total
Activity
Cost
and not Total Activity Cost (in one cell)?
Thank you in advance.

Answer:Display text vertically and not horizontally in 1 cell (Excel)

When you enter the text, use Alt+Enter after each word.
When finished it will wrap the text, with each Alt-Enter being a new line.

Hi there. As a veteran of Windows 7, an eternal battle I struggle with is that Windows Explorer does not seem to have any shortcut key to scroll horizontally in Details view. Is there any sort of registry tweak, workaround, or even autohotkey script, or anything at all that can avail me in this struggle?

Every other modern, sensible, half decent program has some functionality like shift+scrollwheel to scroll horizontally.

Based on reading other threads on this topic from a Google search, I anticipate that there might be some confusion about what I'm referring to, so let me preemptively clarify a bit:

Horizontal scrolling works fine in List view and Icons view. This is because those views do not have a vertical scroll bar, so vertical mousewheel scrolls are interpreted as horizontal scrolls. I want horizontal scrolling for Details view when there is both a horizontal and vertical scrollbar. If you don't believe me, set Explorer to Details view, make the window small enough so both scrollbars appear, and then try your darndest to scroll horizontally without clicking the scrollbar. You won't be able to.

Let me also make clear, again based on a common misunderstanding I found from respondents to similar threads in other forums asking about this: I am exclusively talking about Windows Explorer. Not Excel or Internet Explorer or Chrome or anything else.

Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Using Picasa 3.9.0 on Windows 7 I am printing to a Canon MP560 onto 15x10cm paper and am trying to print some images in landscape mode with text option (file name) below image and shrink to fit clicked. Printing in portrait works fine but in landscape the text at the bottom of the image is truncated horizontally.

Any ideas how to resolve this apart from printing 4 images onto A4 paper?

Answer:Picasa printing - file name text is truncated horizontally

Just guessing as I don't have either...

Are both set to landscape?

Do the images come out alright?

Is it just the text?

Does it all look corect in the print preview, if the canon or picasa shows one?

Screen is split by horizontal black line. Remainder of screen is gray. I tried the fn+b keys which worked momentarily. Then screen flickered and went back to split/gray view. Is there an inexpensive fix or troubleshooting that can be done?

This is a new computer (Reman from HP) I have had for a week and it is now having this issue. The issue began shortly after I installed Microsoft Office. It is intermittent but sometimes happens a lot. I removed the driver for the graphics card and re-installed. Was good for a full day, but this morning it goofed up twice.

Everything else works great, looking for any ideas.

Answer:Dual screens, intermittent slight horizontally scramble.

Graphics card is Intel Q33 Express Chipset - I've removed and reinstalled the drivers for this, which is on Windows 7 64-bit. I'm going to try to install now the Vista 64-bit version of the driver.

basically whenever im watching a video, when the camera moves to left or right quickly, the screen chops up into horizontally-cut pieces for a millisecond, and you can see the distortion in picture. Each piece is probably 10-50 pixels tall, and as long as the display, or so. Watching video gets annoying very quickly with this, and i just noticed this also happens when im in tablet mode, and the screen is turned clockwise once, so the display is oriented 9:16. when i scroll up and down quickly in this orientation, the problem is seen also, so im guessing its more about the display than the graphics. but then, i hook up a displayport cable to the laptop, and connect it to an external monitor (with no previous problems) and the problem is seen on the external monitor, when being supported by the X220T graphics and cpu. so it cant be the physical display of the X220T. cant be a bad IPS panel. its gotta be CPU/GPU/RAM related. also, i hooked up the monitor to a ps3 with HDMI and no problems were seen at all. so this is definitely not the external monitor, which is where the problem is seen better, because the monitor is much bigger. and also it cant be displayport cable problems, because the problem is also seen when the laptop is not hooked up to anything. so i think ive narrowed it down to graphics problems, oriented in one direction only, and or maybe processor problems?just updated to newest Intel HD Graphics Driver i7-2620, 8 GB ram, intel 320 series ssd

I did a clean install of Windows 7 three months ago, and started noticing this problem several weeks later.  Almost every time I boot, my screen shows *two* "Thinkpad message screens".  Two images are displayed, with a horizontal line about 70% down the screen separating them. The LCD driver is lost--only the generic PnP driver is displayed by the system (Device Manager and Display settings), and I can only get 800 x 600 resolution in the Display settings.  Changing the config in the BIOS back to LCD Internal and rebooting with the new configuration does not fix the problem.  The laptop drives an external Viewsonic 19" monitor just fine, and loads the appropriate driver.  But startup outside the dock, and I'm back to my split screen.  Trying Fn-F7 used to shift the image, allowing me to undock and use the machine.  That no longer works.  I've flashed the BIOS and updated all the drivers.  I've searched for this problem on-line, and haven't found it. I thought that it must be software related, but now I'm wondering whether I've got a hardware problem.   My next step is to reinstall Windows 7, but I'd like to hear suggestions before I do it.  Thanks.

I just rebuilt a R40 for a friend using an XP Professional SP3 CD.Once I had XP installed and the security updates loaded I installed the Lenovo System Update and got the drivers installed through that method.  It installed the current version of the UltraNav driver V14.0.18.0, but something screwy is going on. Sometimes during boot up the cursor will start hopping horizontally to the right edge of the screen.Trying to "force" it back doesn't work well as it keeps trying to "hop" off the right side of the screen.Also the UltraNav icon does not always show up on the taskbar even though I have it turned on. It does this (but not all of the time) either with or without a USB mouse installed. Just now it was behaving properly and I was using the USB mouse to change settings within the UltraNav control panel. I changed one of the settings and the cursor went into "stupid" mode right away and hopped off the right side of the screen. I now have it set so that the touchpad IS enabled and the trackpoint is DISabled.If I check the box to enable the trackpont the cursor immediately starts to hop off the right side of the screen and can not be controlled. I have to use the keyboard to turn off the trackpoint function and regain cursor control. Have I got bad hardware here or .... driver issues....Again the cursor "hops" off the screen in about 1/2" increments and is not drifting "smoothly" off-screen.... Thanks for any help!Jim

Answer:cursor / mouse hops horizontally across screen to the right - erratic w/ trackpoint enabled

Hi Jim,I suggest downloading and booting from a Live CD of any linux distro, if the curser also hops in linux then it definitely would be hardware issue.I also recommend running lenovo PC Doctor's diagnostic test on the keyboard.Hope it helps.
