How to determine who is beeping on my computer?

Question: How to determine who is beeping on my computer?

I have HP dm3 laptop and windows 7 installed on it. There is some beep for a 0.5 seconds periodically. There is no regularity. I did not found nothing suspicious in evets log. There is nothing suspicious in processes running on a machine. There is also avg 2012 anitvirus installed. My question is, how can I trace who is sending that signal. Which software do I need for this purpose or which functions to use in c/c++/c# to write a program by myself. I know for sure that this sound comes from sound card and not from pc-speaker.

Preferred Solution: How to determine who is beeping on my computer?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello.

My computer does not boot up. Whenever I push the on button, it does not boot. Nothing appears on the screen, all I get is a continuous beeping.

Here is the beeping:

Please have a listen and tell me what you think the problem is and possible solutions.

Thanks to anyone who helps.

Answer:Help. Computer wont boot...just a continuous beeping (beeping included)

Welcome to TSG....

I did not download the file but I would make sure that the memory is reseated properly and also all of the other cards like video card is/are also seated properly. Do this reseating with the computer powered down.

My wife's computer is just a few days old. It's a home built machine on an Asus P8H61 mb, with intel i3-2100, 4MB of Corsair ram, and a new 120GB SSD. I have Win 8.1 x64, Office 2013, and Malwarebytes installed (and a few other apple phone support products) - that's about it.

It ran fine all weekend, this morning it was "frozen". None of the apps would open. I could cntrl+Alt+del and get to Task Manger but it would not open.

Oddly, I could switch Users to my account (admin) and access all of the apps, everything worked, resource manger, event viewer, etc. Under Admin account CPU, Memory, Disk activity were normal (0 - 4%).

So it was just wife's account (standard user) that was frozen. I rebooted, ran DISM and SFC and nothing wrong was reported.

How can I determine why it froze? If it happens again, what do I look for?

The manual should tell you...Major brands took awhile to include it so check at the Dell site...Medium / high end MBoards have had it longer.

Last night I purchased an airline ticket on-line from a major carrier (I verified I had an https connection before entering my credit card number) and within minutes of making the purchase someone started using my credit card to make numerous charges.  I ran a scan with McAfee and with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and they both came up with nothing unusual.  However, I have noticed some unusual behavior recently.  My computer no longer will go to sleep when not used for a while, even though the power setting for sleeping are enabled.  I've noticed this for the last few months.  In addition, for the last few days I now have had several occasions where I locked my screen for a few hours and when I returned and tried to unlock it, the computer was frozen and I had to shut it down using the power button.  I've never had this problem before.  Can you please take a look and see if you can find any malware?

Hello,

My year old computer has been running much slower than usual and I have noticed a few problems:

1. Every time I restart my computer, McAfee says "we blocked a device driver on your PC because it contains a threat or is untrustworthy." When I go to details it says Driver name = \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Windows\Temp\mc259B3.tmp

2. Also, each time I restart my computer a program (which I think is java) called Oracle America asks me to update jucheck.exe. This occurs even though I believe my java is up-to-date and was just updated.

Please help me out. Below are my DDS and GMER logs. I appreciate it.

From the sound of it, no. A drive described as a DVD/CD-RW drive (or combo drive) can usually only read DVDs, not write to them. It can, however, read and write CDs.

Does anyone know where to find the Netbios name for a computer running Windows XP? (I need this information to network my Macintosh to my PC network). I found the following directions on the internet:

1. From the Start menu, right-click My Computer, and click Properties

2. Click the Computer Name property sheet, and click Properties. The Computer name: text box displays your server's NetBios name

Unfortunately this method doesn'tí seem to work. I can click on Computer Name (not sure this is a property sheet) but it does not have a text box displaying the serverís NetBios name.

Where else can I look to find the netbios name?

I have a Linkys Router ( WRT54GS) attached to my computer which has both wired and wireless connections. (The installation of this router may have changed the XP networking control panel)

Thanks,

Ok, this will probably be a rather long and not very well educated post.

I had a great computer, everything seemed fine, then one day it dies on me. Whenever i turned it on in the past it would give a single short *beep* which i believe is to show it has passed POST. Now it gives a long *beeep* and does not display anything on screen. After some fumbling around, it worked, once. I turned it off, and the same thing happened. I fiddled around some more and found that it would turn on if the monitor wasn't connected, but now not even that works.
Now here's a bit of a guess/some backstory.
My belief is its a problem with the graphics card, partly due to it working without a monitor attached (once) and partly because there was a problem in the past.
I have a Leadtek Winfast 128MB PX6600GT graphics card. The card has 2 ports for my monitor, which handily has 2 leads. I was informed that it may be possible to connect a single monitor to each port, so i thought of considered the 2 ports to be independent of one another. How does that matter?
I had a problem where when i played videos they would run in full screen, and i couldnt change this, nothing worked, all i could do was ALT F4 to close. I found by right clicking on the desktop i could access some options for the graphics card, one was a video option, to play on either 'Primary display' 'Secondary Display' or 'None.' So i guessed that the 2 ports being independent of each other was right, and that these were the 2 differ... Read more

Answer:Computer crashes during POST - how can i determine problem?

Remove the memory then reinstall it. Blow out any dust in the process. Do that same with the video card. Make sure connections are snug. Post back results please.

First, let me say that we use FOG to deploy images, and for good or for bad, that probably won't change soon. So no MDT for us.

What I'd like to do is, during a phase of Sysprep's mini-setup during deployment, determine the computer model. Then, based on the computer model, change the driver path in the registry that mini-setup uses to install drivers.

Effectively, mini-setup would use only drivers applicable to the hardware to install devices rather than looking through all drivers for all models.

Any ideas?

Well, today when I woke up I tried starting my computer, but it started making beeping noises and the light on the expansion bay started flashing. I looked up the problem, and found it it's beep code. The beeps my computer is making is as follows:
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long

There is a one second interval in between each set. I went to the HP site and found this page: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=bph07107#N1010 . However, I'm not sure if it applies to my BIOS or not. I have a HP Pavilion Media Center m8120n TV PC, 3GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 7350 LE Graphics Card, and about 500GB of HDD space, and an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600.

I tried looking for the specific BIOS on my computer, but couldn't find it. So I can only assume what they say is my problem is what it actually is. Which is that my computer was "Unable to initialize video or video card required but not installed". This computer is about 4 years old, and I have never changed the card, and have not updated the drivers for several months. How can I fix this problem? I read on other forums where people where having problems with their RAM they had to try putting it into a different slot, however, I'm not sure if my computer has multiple PCI-E slots to do this. Furthermore, If I do have to do something similar, I have no means of grounding myself. Would it be okay if ... Read more

Answer:Computer makes beeping noises on start, computer wont run

Do you have any display at all?

If not, then it's probably certain that the beep code is correct; that your video chip needs butter (because it's toast).

Does it have a video card installed? If so, pull it, and see if you can get display through the native video output. If it is without a video card, go to a local shop, and see if they have on old one, compatible with your system, that you can use to test with. If it tests good, you probably need to buy a video card...

If your computer is disconnected, you can probably get away without any grounding strap. Nothing in life is guaranteed tho'.

Under Windows 7, is it possible to determine if a specific computer is logged in to a network? If so, how?

Thank you.

Answer:Determine if a network computer is online from a batch file

You mean if some other computer is connected and turned on?

If so, the easiest way is to simply ping it, if it replies it's online. If it fails, it's either powered off, or firewalled (by default Windows allows pings from anyone).
You can also use that in bat files, and use the returned errorlevel value for further actions.

Hey guys,

So I have been trying to install Vista on my PC using my Iphone as a flash drive and booting the setup from there. Everything works fine until I come to the window where you have to choose which partition to install to, my options are either:

DISK 0 PARTITION 2 Total Size: 35.1gb Free Space: 35.0gb (LOGICAL) or
DISK 0 PARTITION 3 Total Size: 35.6gb Free Space: 35.5gb (PRIMARY)

Selecting either one of these partitions and clicking next causes a pop up saying 'Windows could not determine if this computer contains a valid system volume' then the setup fails!

I have googled this but can only find suggestions to take out the USB or change boot priority in BIOS. I cannot do this without my Iphone/USB being plugged in as this is where windows boots from.

Does anybody have any idea's how I can work around this as i need to get my PC back up and running ASAP!

Thanks

"I cannot do this without my Iphone/USB being plugged in as this is where windows boots from."

Correction - your iPhone/USB is where Setup boots from, not Windows.

Provided the hard drive has no operating system on it & no boot code, you should be able to set the iPhone/USB as the last boot device. The system should still boot from it after checking for other bootable media and finding none.

i also recorded a video of how its sounds like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_2mdNJFWxU
so please help/B]

Answer:Solved: computer beeping sounds when i turn on computer

There are three possibilities here, all related to your memory.

1) You have forgotten to fit your memory back in.
2) Your memory isn't properly seated in its slot(s)
3) You have killed your memory because of not following antistatic procedures.

I'm suspecting it is either 2 or 3.

I have a T410  It is charging when plugged Once the battery has reached full charge it starts with a random beeping (no obvious pattern) When I unplug the cable it stops beeping Also although the battery is charging I don't think the laptop recognises that it is plugged in - this is because it goes to sleep as if it is running on a battery and the windows icon at the bottom of the screen does not indicate that it is plugged in... Can anybody help: 1) stop the beeping 2) help the laptop to recognise that it is plugged in Cheers

Answer:T410 random beeping when plugged in - battery charging - not beeping when unplugged

Is it an aftermarket battery?

It sounds like the most likely cause is a bad (loose) main power lack..

I have an HP Compaq d530 CMT tower computer that was given to me with all components intact except a hard drive. I put a spare hard drive in it and installed Ubuntu 9.04.

This computer is a Pentium IV; i believe the processor speed is 2.8GHz. It has 512MB of RAM in it. I'm thinking about adding some RAM; I might want to try Windows 7 on this computer, probably in a dual-boot configuration with Ubuntu.

I know the computer uses 184-pin DDR memory. crucial.com says it can use either PC2700 or PC3200 and that it can use dual-channel memory. It currently has 2x256MB in it. I'd like to determine whether the existing RAM is PC2700 or PC3200. How can I do that?

Answer:How to determine type of memory installed in computer running Ubuntu

Get a working OS on the hard drive, take it to crucial and let the site scan your computer. It will tell you what memory is currently installed.
Looking at the specs here:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4187643&CatId=2645
it appears that it came with 4 sticks of 128 DDR333 (PC-2700).
Not sure why someone might replace 4 sticks with two and still have 512MB total.
Pull a stick out and post what is printed on it.

Recently my motherboard has started beeping randomly and i'm not quite sure what the problem is or how to fix it. My motherboard is a Abit AI7. In any case using the ABit EQ software i've managed to find out that the beeping is due to the 3.3v something or over and the actually error message using it is:

[ErrorRecord]
2007/10/20 11:45:51 Warning:=+3.3V: 3.14V

Any idea on how to fix this? Is the power supply broken or is something drawing too much voltage? The thing is i can be using my PC fine for hours, then out of the blue it will beep for maybe a few seconds, stop, then in 10 minutes or less start beeping again.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Answer:Computer's beeping, help?

As you have determined the beeping is due to your PS not putting out the expected voltage. It will be OK and things are fine, then it looks like your voltage shoots up and you get the warning beep.

My computer is beeping! Intermittently about every 30 seconds or so. Beep.... then after a about 15 more seconds.. Beep.... then.... Boop (lower pitch). What does that mean?

Please help Quick!

Answer:HELP! Computer is beeping!

Beep every 30 seconds is probably an over temperature alarm (not sure about Boop though). To check if that is what it is, you can run Speedfan http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php and check your CPU temperature.

If it seems that is the cause, many computer BIOS have a "PC Health" setup page where you can set the alarm temperature ot turn it off.

Answer:Need Help With Beeping Computer

Look in the Event Viewer and see what errors are showing up at the time that this is happening. Each error will have its own date and time shown.Start> right click on My Computer> Manage> Event Viewer. Be sure that you choose System. The error will appear in the far left column and will appear as a red dot with a white X inside. Each of the columns has a title at the top of them, the column that you want is the Event column. When you see an error follow it to the right across the page to the event column, there will be a set of numbers in there, this is the error code. If you right click on the error code a drop menu will appear, click on Properties, another page will open which will contain a description of the error. Please post the error codes and descriptions back in this topic.

Question: Computer Beeping

I have Compaq SR5450F desktop.  Earlier this week I woke it from sleep mode, but rather than waking it just started beeping; one long beep (about 15 seconds) followed by a long pause (about 10 seconds), repeating indefinitely.  Compaq/HP support indicates a serious problem with the CPU or motherboard.  I have tried troubleshooting to eliminate memory and peripherals, but the problem seems to point to the cpu or motherboard.  Is there some way I can tell if one or the other (or both) is the culprit?  The computer does not boot at all.

Question: Computer Beeping

OK basically I have a pc comp that`s about 2 and a half years old. It just recently started to beep whenever I start playing a specific game which is CSS(counter strike source). What happens is that when I first start and launch the game, everything is normal, but when I actually start to get into playing my computer starts beeping everytime I press a button on my keyboard, and to add to that it makes my game jerk like kind of a lag. If I don`t press any buttons than it`s fine but once I start to press the buttons to move in the game it starts beeping again and makes my game jerk kind of like a lag. The beeps only happen when im playing that specific game and my computer acts normal when I'm not playing . I don`t think my computer is overheating? I dont know why else my computer will act this way?

Answer:Computer Beeping

This activity usually happens when you bog down your system resources.
It sounds like either your RAM is failing, or you need to add more.
You could probably start by checking your RAM.

What could be the problem?

Hi all. I have build my last 2 computers and am working on a new one. It's a P4 2.8. I used arcticsilver on the surface of the cpu that is in contact with the heat sink. All the fans are running fine (CPU, chipset, 3 case fans, video card and 2 in the power supply). I am using a 400W power supply.

Well as I am starting the process of installing XP, the system starts beeping at me. I assume that it is overheating. I checked the bios and it says the system temp is 110F, the cpu is 140F and the next temp is 168F (pwn i think it was). The cpu warning temp is set at 185F by default.

I honestly didn't change any of the defaults in the bios. I am not an expert and I left everything to default. It looks like it was getting all the system info correct.

So, do you think it is overheating? Is there anything you can suggest that I might have missed? Did I not use enough of the arcticsilver?

I am using an Abit IS7 E board. There was one line in the instructions that I didn't understand. It was after I installed the cpu it said 'Do not forget to set the correct bus frequency and multiple for your processor'. I assume that is in the bios and like I said I let that all default. Could that be my problem? Any help with fixing it if it is?

I am not a computer expert, but not a novice either. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Andrew

Answer:New computer beeping at me

What type of heatsink do you have? It might be that you got a smaller heatsink than your processor is rated for. My computer's processor runs around 100 F, but its an AMD 1ghz processor so it might be a little cool. If you pull the heatsink off, you should check to make sure that you've got a decent coating of the Artic silver on there.

Ugh. My pc sits at my feet sort of on this desk, but it moves a bit. And well last night my screen turned black while i was in game. So i turned off and when i turn back on it just beeps. Not to long though. Id say around 1-2 second beeps, and it only beeps like 3 times then just sits there running. I know this is due to hardware not installed properly. Im pretty sure i bumped it with my leg which most likely knocked something out of place. So i took out the gfx card put it back in, checked the RAM its all in place. But still does the same beeping. Should i pull all the RAM out and clean the dust of everything then put it back in?I was told that depending on the beeps and how long they go for, tells you whats wrong, like a code i guess.Maybe use could help?EDIT: Ok i checked then, the fan on the GFX is working. So i guess thats installed correct? maybe the RAM is faulty..

I have an MS 6172 motherboard in a PC which simply won't boot up. The fans come on, the lights on the floppy and CD drives come on, but nothing comes on the screen and there's no beep of any sort.I've emptied all the pci slots and removed the RAM. I've tried disconnecting the hard drive, floppy drive and CD drive and connected just a graphics card. The PSU is a brand new 450W one. Still, nothing on the screen and no beep(s) on startup. The graphics card and hard drive and RAM all work fine in another computer. So what's up? Has the processor fried somehow? Could the motherboard be OK? Any thoughts please?

Answer:no beeping computer

Have you tried the PSU from the other computer in yours? Maybe the 450W is generating too much power.

Answer:Computer Beeping?

Hi and welcome to TSG.

We need more information about your system to make any kind of educated response. Please provide all the following:

Make and model of the PC if it is a 'big brand' machine like a HP, Dell Acer etc?
If it is a self / custom build, please provide exact make and model of the CPU, RAM, Graphics Card, Power Supply (make, model and wattage), what operating system are you using and is it 32 or 64 bit?

Initial thoughts, as you say its when gaming, are either a temperature or power problem, I would lean towards temperature with the beeping being and audio warning just prior to shutdown due to overheat, but that is by no means definately what it is.

It would also be useful do download and install Speccy, run a report and publish it online, then paste a link to that online report in a reply here. To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

1.In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
2.In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
3.Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Question: Beeping computer

Hey Guys, My computer shut off on me the other day and when I tried to start it back up all I could get is the front leds blinking and beeping. It is an Emachine model: W2646, I thought it might be the power supply so I replaced it but it did not change a thing. hi tekneck and welcome to TechSpot

trust me when I say you are not alone with your problem. eMachines are garbage, this forum (as well as many others) are flooded with questions about dead eMachines.

based upon what most other eMachine owning members have experienced, it's safe to assume that you have a bad mobo. get a nice aftermarket mATX mobo, do NOT get another rubbish eMachine mobo.

also, what are the full specs of the replacement PSU you got? (be more specific than just total watts). it still be a PSU issue as well.

Question: Computer Beeping

Recently I was playing Final Fantasy XI when I heard a noise that apparently came from my computer. At first I thought something had fallen of my shelf, but when I saw nothing was amiss and my game screen locked up I realized it must have been my computer. The keyboard and mouse had locked up and my computer was making 4 monotone beeping noises in a row (all the same length).

I restarted by way of the power button and my computer was going very slow. I tried to start the game again but Windows Installer Dialogue Box came up and sat there for about 15 minutes...

At this point I powered down and went to sleep thinking maybe it needed to cool down. Ten hours later I turn it on and the same thing happens. I searched for a similar beeping pattern online but couldn't find anything.

Just recently I turned it on and it tells me "A disk read error has occured".

Also:

Warning: Dell's disk monitoring system has detected that drive 0 on the primary EIDE is operating outside of normal specifications. It is advisible to immediatly back up your data and replace your hard disk drive by calling your support desk or Dell Computer Corp.

Dell Dimension 8200
Bios Revision A05
2.26 Ghz
512Ram
80GB HD
Windows XP

As far as I know I can't get the computer to start up so I can back up my files, and when I can its so slow it is hardly possible. Any ideas?

I got a call today from another office (this is the end of my first week running the computer system for a law firm), and apparently one of their computers has started beeping. It happens apparently randomly, while the computer is running. One long (15-20 seconds) beep. Everything keeps working, but it is an unnerving and scary thing! (I haven't actually heard it myself.) It is most likely a Celeron or AMD K6 333, running win9x, using WordPerfect and some legal database type stuff. Unfortunately I'm guessing about the hardware configuration until I can get down there (the office is in Delaware, I'm in PA) to look at it next week. I was hoping that maybe this beeping thing is something one (or more) of you might have encountered. I have a feeling it isn't good, but don't know what it might be. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I have problems. My computer beeps repeatedly at startup with no pattern. It sometimes sounds like a sick beep. My computer also takes forever to start up & forever to shut down. I have ran virus scans, spyware scans, registry scans & optimizer, diognostic test you name it and no luck. Anyone have any insite? Please????

Answer:Beeping & Slow Computer

What is the make and model of your computer? Although, the beeps that you hear upon start-up may not seem to have a distinct pattern to you, they usually mean some sort of impending failure. It will help us diagnose the problem if you can tell us this information. The fact that start-ups and shut-downs are very slow is another indication that your system is ailing.

Hopefully someone can help me. I have developed a problem where my computer emits a single quiet beep from the system speaker in the front of the case after which it stops responding momentarily before everything going back to normal. I ran my hard disk utility and my hard drives both check out fine. I have done a virus scan and am free of bugs. I have also done a SFC /scannow and actually found a couple corrupt system files that I replaced. Have also defragged and ran a chkdsk/f. Everything checks out fine but I still have a problem. Does anyone have any idea what this is and how I can fix it? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Answer:Computer beeping not starting

Hi hconci, welcome to TSF...

how many times does the system beep exactly please?

Have you recently installed any new hardware?

Also, if you're confident enough, it may be an idea to check to see if the fans start to spin when you switch on. Plus, with the machine disconnected from its power source, it may also be an idea to check for any damage on your motherboard (signs of leaking/bulging capacitors etc), check fans to see if they're clogged up with dust/debris, also try resitting the RAM and graphics card. Only do that lot if you know what you're doing and are wearing a wrist strap to ground any electro-magnetic charge as that may damage your hardware.

Do you have a spare PSU you can test?

I left my computer on one day & I left, I had returned the next day to find that my screen was frozen. I proceeded to turn off the computer to restart it & when it tried turning back on it did not recognize the monitor & it made beep noises. Ive tried everything I possibly can think of even to the point of buying a new video card & nothing has worked. Ive reset CMOS, Ive taken the computer down to bare bones & replugged in every wire, I cleaned it out thoroughly, Ive Googled it so much to figure out the problem & nothing as worked. Is it my cpu thats finally gone out? The computer is 3 years old. Dell XPS 630, 4 gb DDR2 RAM, 3.0ghz duo-core, Nvidia GT 440 512mb DDR5 (was 2x SLi Nvidia 8800 GT). Please help! I would greatly appreciate all the feedback I can get. Thank you.*Also I have re-seated the RAM. There is no diagnostic lights on the computer either. The beep code is one long (about 20 seconds long) followed by two shorter beeps (about 8-10 seconds in length)*

So, just today when I booted my computer, something strange happened. Everything seemed to be fine, it went through BIOS, the windows XP loading screen, and then went black for a seccond or two(like it aways does). Everything seemed to be fine, until I got to the windows XP login screen. The tower began to beep, like it does when it encounters a bad error, but it was beeping rythmnlicly (pardon my spelling). It would beep a seccond, then stop a seccond, then repeat. I panicked, held down the power buttin for six secconds, and reported to another computer to write this.

Some other things that may be useful to know are that I DID download a thing or two yesterday, from a website that I'm not quite sure was secure. I downloaded anyway, and things seemed to be fine. I continued using it for several hours after that. I also turned it on about 6 hours later, and it was still fine. The next day now, 12 hours later, it has started doing this.

Also, though I know that I really need one, I don't have any type of antivirus software on my computer, save for a copy of eTrust from 2004 that I'm pretty sure is just taking up space on my hard drive and not doing anything.

I did not login at all, for fear of anything getting worse than it already is, though I don't think it would prabobly do much anyway. Still, though. If it is a hardware problem, that may have helped.

If anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it!

After a power outage, my Dell server now beeps. It boots up just fine. Everything seems to be running OK- it just beeps. The beep tone is a long tone, followed by a pause that just keeps repeating. I have a power backup attached that I thought might be beeping, but the sound is clearly coming from the server.

I am familiar with the beeps that occur in long/short combinations with a hardware failure that prevents booting. This is different-the computer works fine, it just beeps. No error codes. No nothing.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! It's loud and driving everyone at work nuts.

O.K. i know this is only for Windows 8.I am stumped on an old PC's problem, wonder if any can help,ty.

I have an older computer that was not used for over a year.I recently hooked it up to use it.When i did i had no picture and continuous beeping from PC.
I tried dusting out inside of PC,cleaning and reseating the RAM and made sure all connection were tight and on.

Still the computer when turned on has no pic and beeps continuosly not in any pattern to tell you errors from the BIOS.

Some say could be video card,it was hooked to the integrated video card, but i also installed one in PCI slot and it does the same thing it beeps and no pic.
Also some say could be the battery or another hardware failure. If anybody knows what else i can try be much appreciated.

I am thinking of trying to sell it if i can get it working again it was working a year ago till i set it away because buying a new PC.

Answer:computer won't boot and beeping

Could be one of many problems , RAM issues , CMOS battery dead , more than likely a hardware issue , unless there is a pattern to the beeps (long tones , set number of tones followed by a pause and then repeats) it's difficult to say for sure what is causing the issue...

All I can suggest if there is no pattern is try and re-seat all the hardware , try a new CMOS battery and replace the hardware with equivalents (if you have spares lying around) one by one till the issue is resolved.

when my computer slows down with more applications, it beeps for every input (key pressed, mouse moved).  It stops after about 15 seconds.  This is the second time it has happened.  any ideas on why it could be doing this?

Answer:computer beeping on input

Try cleaning up your system. Sounds, like either an infection, or a maintenance issue, or both.

Start your Internet Security, update, run a full scan. Delete anything it finds. (If it is unable to delete anything let us know).

Run Spyware and Malware removal programs. (Download, update, and run, SuperAntiSpyware & Malwarebytes). Delete anything these programs find.

Remove any third party programs you don't use. (One's you installed)

Reset your Browser

Run Disk Cleanup

Run a Registry Cleaner (CCleaner) Shouldn't have any problems with this utility, but use the backup feature, just in case.

Run a Disk Defragmenter, such as  (Auglogics Disk Defrag) run in extended mode. Select Defrag and Optimize from the drop down box.

If your still having problems:

Try running your system in "Selective Startup Mode" to see if any startup programs or Services loading at startup are slowing the computer down and causing the effect.

Let us know if you need help with any of these steps.

My computer is beeping all sorts of sounds, like internetpagechanging, or the noise of plug and play devices being popped in, and warning beeps. Non stop beeping. When I go to safe mood the loginscreen appears, but when I try to login my screen goes blank with just safemode written in the corners. Also, my computer has slowed down significantly. I had trojans found on my computer, the Quakespy, Antivirus Remover etc. The computer is plagued with viruses. I tried to remove the Quakespy with the BruteForceUninstaller, part of the RogueScanFix program. Find my Hijackthis log file and maybe somebody can tell me what's going on. I also ran SmitFraudFix in normal mode to clean the registry and delete infected files etc. Note, I have no idea what PartyPoker is doing in my registry, even after I cleaned my registry with SmitFraudFix. I also have Drivercleaner, WinAntiVirusPro2007 and UltimateFixer popping up to have me install their antivurus software (definitely trojans). If I can get into Safe mode without the screen going blank then maybe I can remove the trojans. And is the viruses causing my computer to beep constantly???

hello all

i seem to be having a problem with my second computer. it keeps turning off and on. it beeps when ever it turns on.

i have no idea what the problem is.

i was trying to reformat the drive but it would not stay on long enough to read the cd..
so i was thinking it might be the harddrive. so i put another harddrive in it that i know is working fine. it does stay on but i get first the safe mode screen. it does not matter what option i pick like start windows normally or start in safe mode after i hit enter i get a blue screen telling me windows has shut down to protect my system from a fatal error. it tells me to check my harddrive for viruses or errors. my problem is i don't know how to get past that blue screen to check my harddrive. i have to turn the computer off. it happens every time i turn it on.

i would give you a log report but i can't make one.

can anyone help or know what i should do???

thanks for looking at my post or responding to it.

My computer beeps once a day about 5 times ten minutes apart anyone know why or how i can find out what is doing it?

Answer:Computer beeping every ten minutes

We need a whole lot more information from you like your hardware specs including make and model of your motherboard, amount of RAM installed, video card, power supply make and wattage supplied, etc.

In addition we need to know the OS you are running and what security software you have installed.

Does this issue occur randomnly or does it begin when you are doing certain things?

Those beeps may be due to BIOS Code errors and they tell us information about what is taking place. Every motherboard manufacture will provide a BIOS. Here is a link to a BIOS Beep Guide. Don't let it overwhelm you. Just find the manufacture of your motherboard and they should tell you what BIOS is installed.
