Preferred Solution: Moving an OE account to Hotmail account

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello All, This is my first post here and I hope that you all are willing to help out a "newbie" of the forum, because as of right now I am getting fed up with my BLEEPING COMPUTER!!!My computer has been acting a little funny lately...I'm not sure what the issue is, but a lot of my administrative privileges seem to have been changed, ie "You do not have permission to (fill in blank)" If anyone has time to take a look at my hijackthis logfile as well as the adsspy logfile to see if there is anything that looks a little fishy. I have had THREE different instances of my bank account info being exploited and just recently my Hotmail account was hijacked and used as a "mass SPAM sender". It used to be not connected to any email account but when it updated to 8.1 I chose to get an email address for it, so now as a result, the password has to be 8 characters long and I have to use a PIN number , but that's still 4 characters, and I usually use one character password.

So how do I go back to the normal type of user account to use the 1 character password?

Go into All Settings and choose Accounts. Under the 'Your Account' menu you'll see an option on the right to 'Sign in with a local account instead' - choose this.

Can you get back old Hotmail account, after having renamed it to new Outlook account?
Well here is Microsoft's answer on Reddit!

If you renamed your account, and want to rename it back to the original name, you can do that.
IMPORTANT: This may not work if you are outside of the US and have a "@live.com" or "@Hotmail.com" address!
First, remove the alias that was created when you renamed your account (the alias will be for the original name).
Go to http://account.live.com, select "Notifications" then "manage your email preferences" and you'll find links to remove aliases.
Second, go back to the Rename page, Sign In and rename back to the original name.

Hope it helps someone!

Hello,

I am trying to look for the most clean and painless way to basically tie a user's local machine account to a newly created domain account. I found that I can change the registry setting for ProfileImagePath in order to point it to the old profile. One thing that this doesn't seem to do is to reference the outlook profile that is on their local account. Is there a way to move this profile without having to just recreate it on the new domain account? Is there an easier way of moving everything in general?

Thanks

I can’t access my HOTMAIL accounts- HOTMAIL support?

I learned about Microsoft’s new policy of not allowing you to send email from Hotmail using it’s own products Outlook and Outlook Express unless you are paying an additional fee, when I replied to a (Hotmail) email while using OE. After sending my reply I received an error message that OE could not access the account. It then proceeded to DELETE all my previous email message in outlook express for this account.

A web search then led me discover that this account was one of those now requiring payment of a fee to send mail using Outlook or OE instead of logging on to the website. (They are doing this in stages so some HOTMAIL accounts still allow the free use and access with Outlook/OE.)

I then tried to sign on to my account using another Microsoft product Internet Explorer- initially everything looked unchanged,

1. however after typing in my name and password instead of opening my account

2. I got a new screen of “scrambled letters” designed to prove that a person and not a machine is accessing my account.

3. I type in these scrambled letters and one of two things happens:

a. (Usually) I receive yet another screen of scrambled letters to input

b. (Occasionally) I receive the “sign in screen” again EITHER WAY

4. Whichever screen I receive- whether I input scrambled letters yet again or insert my name and password the process repeats itself and one of two things happens:

a. (Usually) I receive yet anothe... Read more

Answer:I can't acces my HOTMAIL account- Hotmail Tech Support?

I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express in any form my self, so I can only offer some limited suggestions for sorting this out.

First: have you tried deleting all cookies and accessing the account? If using XP/2k -- it may even be helpful to try creating a new User Profile and logging in under that, this will ensure you have an entirely new web cache, index.dat and cookie folder.

Try accessing the account from another computer and see if you get in that way.

I had several hotmail accounts that I could view in the Nokia 930 windows 10.
I have not installed any apps (however there wsa an app that I do not know what was doing there with the text showing @\user\microsoft\windowsapp\ etc. the text was longer an I was not able to remove the app)
However the problem of the emails did not arise after the above app was mysteriously installed but happened before.
It looked like that one specific account was inexplicably confused with another email account...e when I was tapping on one Icon app of hotmail account I would actually read the email of another account.
My main Email setup account within windows phone setup had disappeared and when trying to re added it was saying that it was already setup.
Therefore I could only but hard rest my phone. I have hard reset it four times now and every time I setup the account with my main Email account everything is fine but when I add another email account it all goes wrong with similar variations of the above issue and now I even have an error message saying the account the I added
Now I am getting has the settings out of date. I tap FIX button there is some activity but nothing happens.
How can I fix this!!!

Hello

I have a hotmail.com account which is fine.
I also have Outlook Express and can receive mail in Outlook Express from my hotmail account with no problems.

I have just created a hotmail.com account for my friend.
I can receive mail from this new account to my own hotmail account but I am having problems receiving e-mail from this account to my Outlook Express.

NB. It is my friends hotmail address that I want to be able to receive messages from. I can receive them fine from my own hotmail account.

Can anyone please offer any advice.

Thank you Cinders

Answer:hotmail.com account

If your friend is using the free hotmail service, then you cannot access the account with an editor such as Outlook Express. You can only access Hotmail externally if the account is a paid option.

OK, so I signed up for Hotmail Plus, and registered with one of my hotmail email address's. How do I add my other two hotmail address's to the hotmail plus account? Seem's to me, only one hotmail account is going to work with OE right now, until I let MSN know the other 2 hotmail accounts.

Any solutions?

Thanks

Answer:Hotmail plus account.

I just got off a live chat with someone at MSN. You only get to use one free Hotmail account with each Hotmail Plus account. So, for those of you with multiple hotmail accounts using OE, its back to the drawing board.

My email address ends in @Hotmail.com.I receive emails with no problems, when I compose a new email or forward

When I click CLOSE the message is "You are about to throw away these messages without sending them".The only option
then is CONTINUE.The messages always show in the "sent" folder, some get to the receipient and some don`t.
Any idea whats going on?

Answer:Hotmail account

Are you logging into the account by way of web browser or by the new Mail app? For older WLM and Hotmail as well as Live accounts you would want the Windows Essentials 2012 over the new Mail app.

Logging in directly online you would add the destination is as a new contact if not already in your address book there so the emails being sent will go through. I find that every time I go to send an email out to a new contact and forget to add the address in first as a new contact the draft will be saved. I see that with both the old Live accounts as well as at times with the accounts at outlook.com

Question: hotmail account

I have a Hotmail account on my Windows XP computer. This account is corrupt and I can?t send messages from it. Can anyone tell me how to disable this account and start a new hotmail account? Thank you very much. Murrar

Answer:hotmail account

Follow these steps to close your account: 1. Visit http://mail.live.com/mail/CloseAccountConfirmation.aspx 2. Sign in using your Windows Live Hotmail account and password. 3. Click "Close account" button. This will only close the e-mail service, the Windows Live ID that is associated with your account will remain active and will be deleted after 365 days of inactivity. If you would like to access any of our Windows Live ID services, please use a different account. From Account Closure - Hotmail AccountAfter closing the account, you can create another hotmail account HERE. Scroll down the page. On the right hand-side, look for Hotmail. You will be able to sign up for a new account. Now that I've gone through all that, are you using Windows Live Mail client or are you checking mail on the web? If you use WLM, someone may be able to help you resolve the isssue if you post details about it.

The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

When I try to log in via My MSN, I can view the subjects of the first several e-mails, but can't access them.

I'd really appreciate some advice...

Thanks much,

Hi,

I've seen similar problems with Hotmail and Yahoo acounts. I think the volume on these "free" accounts is SO HIGH.......that it fills to capacity as far as availability. My advice would be to try again at different times. This problem makes these accounts very unpredictable and somewhat unreliable because of the availability issue.

Hi all

Has anybody else been locked out of their Hotmail account lately?

I have been locked out since Friday May 17th.

At first I could not get Hotmail to recognise even my account name. When it finally did, it would not accept my secret answer and redirected me to msn support.

msn support now tll me there is no such account, even though there is still a secret question logged against it and email sent to it dos not return undelivered.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I foresee a huge security blunder on the horizon. Possible scenarios include a distributed denial of service or mass email virus dissemination through 'disappeared' Hotmail accounts.

I'd appreciate knowing if mine is trhe only one.

Hi !! Hermes ....I can only say that as happened to someone who's account had not been used within a mth....then again you are usually warned before hand. You haven't exceeded your email storage space??

Occasionally lately I have had a problem with my account accepting my password even though correct.

Have you done a virus scan lately ??

Sorry I can't be of much help !!

Question: Hotmail Account!!!

I have just looked at my @Hotmail.com account and see there are a bundle of e mails apparently sent by me to people I do contact, but checking the messages it seems as though there has been a quote added like "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work; I want to achieve immortality through not dying." Woody Allen.
Should I close my Hotmail account and get rid of all the garbage that has flown in?
I haven't opened the majority of messages, but looked at one and assume the balance, 11 messages, will be of a similar nature!
Cheers

Answer:Hotmail Account!!!

I'd change the password first to see if this stops. Add characters such as '@' or '%' to the password and make it fairly long. Do you have a favourite quote or ditty you remember? Then use the first letter of the words in the quote/poem as your password and include different characters as well.

Could you explain The account policies that govern your use of Hotmail are detailed in our Online Help. Please note that you must sign into your Hotmail account at least once every 30 days. If you do not, your account will become inactive. After being inactive for 90 days, it will be deleted. You may want to save this message so you always have a handy link to this important information.
Example if I have a Hotmail address [email protected] and I do not sign in Hotmail account explain if I do not my account will become inactive. After being inactive for 90 days, it will be deleted so I will not beable to get my [email protected] back again

Answer:Hotmail account ?

sportman10,

From Hotmail Help page - Close Account:
If you don't sign in for 30 days (or within the first 10 days), your account will become inactive. At that time, any messages in your account will be deleted and inbound e-mail will be refused. Your Passport will still function, and your Hotmail e-mail name will be reserved. Couldn't find an area for a question about Hotmail ?? I Googled Hotmail Forum it brought me here to this site - registered so here is my query:

I have begun placing my CONTACTS into Categories like Family, Family O/S ( Over/Seas) Friends, Friends O/S, Business, Business O/S etc etc.
I have done that by ticking the "OBVIOUS" contacts boxes in my long contact list and transfering them to the appropriate Category.
However with about 290 contacts to place I keep going through the list, wondering if I placed them to the appropriate category.
Of course to check I have to close out of the main contact list, then go another list to check if I put them where I think they should be ( Some need to be included in a couple of Categories )
Is there some way that I can show - on my MAIN CONTACT LIST that I have placed them somewhere?
Like an indication mark ?
That then would then allow me, as I go through the list in Alphabetical order to see those Contacts that still have somewhere to be placed..Regards Don

Question: Hotmail account

My email address ends in @Hotmail.com.I receive emails with no problems, when I compose a new email or forward
on emails, more times than not I get the error message "Can`t connect to Outlook please try later"with a CLOSE button.
When I click CLOSE the message is "You are about to throw away these messages without sending them".The only option
then is CONTINUE.The messages always show in the "sent" folder, some get to the receipient and some don`t.
Any idea whats going on?
Regards.

I hope somebody can help me. I'm not sure where to turn. I had a hotmail account with all my contacts. This Saturday one of my horses is running in the Kentucky Derby and I had a picture of the horse I sent out in a mass mailing to all my contacts.

Hotmail closed my account and will not let me back into it. It is now my understanding that you can't send such mailings or they will stop the service for you.

Is there any way I can appeal to them to get at least my contacts? I don't know who to write or contact to request this. I would certainly hope that someone has had this problem and can tell me how I can at least get my contacts.

Thanks for any and all help.

David Smith

Answer:not able to log onto hotmail account

did hotmail state this on your login failure?>>

Type your .NET Passport sign-in e-mail address and password correctly. Remember, passwords are case-sensitive.

Hotmail is pretty vague as to the failure for the sign in mainly due to the server registering either one as an error.

if u are certain that your password is correct then the e-mail address u keyed in might be incorrect and vice versa.

maybe try creating a new password?? (as suggested if u can't remember it by Hotmail)

I had an @hotmail.co.uk email address.

I created a new @outlook.com as I had too much spam.

I can't log back into the @hotmail.co.uk email addresss as I wanted to close it and I've tried the forgot password method but still had no success.

My question is what happens if I leave the email address for example not attempt to login to the account for a long period of time, will it automatically be deleted?

Answer:Hotmail.co.uk account?

The account should get canceled after 270 days of inactivity.

I'm not sure if I know all the correct vocabulary for this so bear with me as I try to explain.

One of my user accounts has gone inactive and I'd like to move everything under that account to another account as quickly and painlessly as possible. Long story short, the initial Windows account I set up when I got this laptop was one issued by an ISP that I left a few months back. Eventually, that email address/Windows account went dead. I can no longer use it for email. I can still sign in to that user account on the laptop but I can't install any programs from the Windows store or sign in to my XBox games (Taptiles, Mahjong, and so forth). (I can PLAY the games and they correctly track my score and award me the little medals that you get each month for getting sufficient points but that's all.)

I assume that there's no way to revive or reactivate this account so that I can do installations of new programs again so I'd like to find some way to move/copy the various existing applications so that they open under the other user account I have set up on this laptop, preferably without losing the score histories on the games.

Basically, I've got a double-barrelled problem: I need to be able to install programs from the Windows Store again and I'd like to move my games over to a different user account without losing my scoring history.

Any suggestions how I can do that?

I'm running Windows 8.1.

If you have another email address that can be used for a Microsoft account, then you could change the email address for your current Microsoft account to use the other email address instead.

hi all - my wife's small business uses Office365 and I'm about to upgrade their PCs to Win10. One of the expected benefits is that they'll be able to login using their O365 credentials, whereas at the moment everyone has a MSA ([email protected]) to login in the PC, and then has cached their O365 creds within. The problem is that the password expires on O365 so they end up with 2 accounts, different names and different passwords.

So, I tried an experiment on her home PC, which is already on Win10, by joining to Azure AD (as per Logging into Windows 10 Pro using Office 365 credentials - Windows 10 Forums) and she can log in using her O365 account (yay!) however it's a new user profile, so none of her existing preferences, history, favorites etc have been carried across (boo).

So now we have a MSA with cached O365 creds that she's been using to date, and an O365 account with the MSA as a secondary (in the hope that it will at least sync between the two), however that doesn't seem optimal.

Can anyone suggest a way of migrating the old settings, cookies, preferences etc from the old MSA account profile to the new O365 one? I'd rather not have to manually hack about in registry, copying over hidden folders & files etc, if I could avoid it...

thanks!

Answer:Detailed help moving to a new account? LONG

If your old user profile was not deleted, under C:\Users\[YourOldUserName] then you can login to that profile. When you restart, does it show the old profile on the login screen? Be aware, the old profile is corrupted and will not work correctly.
When they moved your files to the new profile, did they show Hidden Files? Did they also copy the hidden AppData directory under the user name? AppData holds all of the applications mappings, temp file and keys etc,
In File Explorer, go to the Toolbar to View put a check box in Hidden Files, this will make them Viewable. Browse to C:\Users Is your old user profile still available? If so, Copy the AppData directory and Paste it into your New Profile name. This is a large directory and may take some time. Do not copy the Hidden files NTUser.dat, NTUser.dat.log, NTUser.ini in your user profile.

Everytime I try to log into hotmail on my computer it says "Cannot be found". I can log into my hotmail account on other computers, but not mine. I've deleted cookies, saved internet pages, etc... but that didn't fix it. It happens with IE and Netscape. My internet is provided by my apartment complex, its an HPNA connection. Just wondering if it might be something I can fix before I give the internet people a call.

Answer:What would keep me from logging into my hotmail account?

I have been having this same problem for3 months and just figured it out. Go to IP configuration and check your subnet mask. If the subnet mask is 255.0.0.0 that is your problem. I released and renewed my IP configuration an am now able to log into hotmail. I am using a DSL connection with DirecTV DSL. I don't know if this will work with a dial-up.

Hi Guys,

My wife cannot access her Outlook/Hotmail account, every time she logs in she gets the message "It looks like someone else might be using your account"
we have tried to verify the account and change the password using the on screen instructions however all we get is thrown back to the above message?
I have Googled this and it looks as if there is no easy fix, the one option appears to be we follow link and pay a technician £14.99 to cure the problem.
I am not fussed about the money but I am not sure if the technician is genuine?
Any help would be useful

Thank You

Answer:Cannot get into Outlook/Hotmail account

That option is a scam. Currently, Hotmail/Outlook are having problems, down for many users.

Get the machine checked for spyware/malware, there may be a redirect or similar in use.

Whenever I log into my Hotmail account, the "eggtimer" stays on all the time, its as if the page has not fully opened.

It does not stop me from using my account but I am baffled why it does this. Is this the norm with a Hotmail account or is there something I can do to rectify this.

Many thanks.

[A person is continuously hacking into my account. No matter HOW MANY TIMES I change the password, he always gets the new one. I have recently reported him to the local branch of the F.B. I. He is obviously using an internet service to get this done. I have never used this person's computer, so that's NOT how he's getting the password.
My QUESTION: the S.O.B. has deliberatly erased messages that he knows are More than Important to me. Is there ANY way to get deleted messages BACK? He deletes my mail, and then goes into Trash and deletes them there as well. Can I retrieve them???? thanks

If you have even a suspicion that your account has been accessed by anyone but yourself you should change the password. A good security practice is to do this on a regular basis anyway.

People on my Hotmail contacts list have been getting spams from "me" lately. Of course I have no idea whatsoever that it's been "me" sending. I've been told by friends that changing passwords wouldn't help. So could anybody please tell me what to do? Thanks.

Answer:Spams sent by using my Hotmail account.

delete their addresses and change your password. They cannot send things out if they are deleted....your friends can always e-mail you back and it will register in your address book. With a blank book, the infection cannot survive.....I notice that many ppl use their phones to access their e-mail accounts and that is how they are getting infected. Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
