Preferred Solution: My Toshiba Satellite l500 cooling fan has stopped working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: My Toshiba Satellite l500 cooling fan has stopped working

I would purchase a can of compressed air or use an air compressor (with a light gentle nozzle) and blow the dust out of the inside. If you have a failed cooling fan, then it will need to be repaired or replaced. That model I think is rather old, it may not be worth it to repair.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 PSLS0A-019002 with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed that I received two months ago as a gift.

Apart from disliking some the quirky and useless (to me) Windows Vista / 7 features, as the desktop is loading I get the error message "Toshiba Service Station has stopped working" which proceeds to find a solution, but apparently never finds one because this condition repeats itself every time I boot.

On another thread in these Toshiba forums, someone suggested downloading the independent utility called Toshiba Service Station and reinstalling it. I do not see such utility listed on the downloads page for my Toshiba model. Since I don't even know what the Toshiba Service Station does (unless it goes by another name - Toshiba Bulletin Board perhaps?), I have no idea what is causing the error or how to correct it.

Does anyone have a more precise solution?

Answer:Toshiba Service Station has stopped working - Satellite L500 PSLS0A

Hi,

Service Station is not currently active in Australia, so you can simply uninstall it.

Hi,

My L500 fan is no longer working correctly

I am getting this message

Warning:a problem with the cooling system has been detected. please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service.

The fan runs inconsistently (always for a few seconds on start-up, very sporadically the rest of the time, but it is completely stationary for the most part.

The computer is currently in pieces, and I am ready to replace the fan with a new one, however im not sure that will fix the problem (as the fan still seems to sometimes run).

Are you going to replace the fan or the entire cooling heatsink and fan? Was the heatsink clogged with dust? Keep in mind, this also may be a motherboard issue

No disply on my toshiba satellite L500,power supply led is getting on .

Answer:Toshiba satellite L500 not working, No disply

If you still get lights on the edge of the laptop & you can hear the fan spinning and harddisk clicking a bit but nothing at all is appearing on the display then it's either the screen or the power inverter that have gone. Either way it's not really something you can do yourself, take it to a technician to sort out. If you are not getting any lights, fan or clicking sound then it is a power issue - the LED doesn't necessarily mean that the power supply is ok. Again, not much you can do yourself, take it to an expert."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Pink Floyd

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.
The Event log points to microsoft.vc80.openMP.......

Could someone please tell me how to fix the web Camera. I very rarely use it so I do not know exactly when it stopped working.
Thanks.

Hey,

What do you think about reinstalling the webcam software? Maybe this will work?

Please check the Toshiba driver download page:

Just search for your notebook model and available downloads. If you find it, download newest Camera Assistant Software but before you install it, remove the old version first and restart your computer.

IN TOSHIBA SATELLITE L500 WHILE USING WINDOWS 7 64 BIT OPERATING SYSTEM ALL FUNCTION KEYS ARE NOT WORKING ONLY F11 IS WORKING AND SPECIALLY WIRELESS KEY ON OFF IS NOT WORKING I AM FACING TOO MUCH PROBLEM ANY CAN HELP REGARDING THIS PROBLEM

Answer:Wireless not working in toshiba satellite l500 in windows 7

For a start, turn off CAPS LOCK - it's considered to be shouting & many will ignore you.Did the laptop come with Windows 7 or have you installed it later? Are you sure there are drivers available for the wireless card - check the manufacturer's website if necessary. Some Toshiba laptops have a separate wireless switch on the front edge - if it's there make sure it is in the 'on' position. The usual key combination, as far as I recall, is Fn and F8 pressed at the same time (not F8 on its own) - there should be an LED that lights up on the front edge of the laptop when the wireless adapter is on."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Some of my drivers won't install givin message 'DMIcheck application has stopped working' or similar message for pInfo application...

Same Windows 7 64bit installation on another laptop didn't have any problems like that.

How do I solve this?

laptop model is L500 (short model no. PLJSHE)

Answer:Satellite L500 - DMIcheck application has stopped working

Hey,

For me it sounds like that the DMI information is missing and so you get this error message...
Are you using the drivers from Toshiba directly?

Usually the DMI information is missing if the mainboard was exchanged and the technicians have forgotten to re-write this information.
In this case contact the guys again and they will do this for you! :)

Hi,

I have a M70 laptop, which I have recently identified as getting very hot when in use. I have now identifed that the fan has stopped working.

Any ideas how I can get to this fan, so I give it a clean and check to make sure fan connected is not loose etc?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite Pro M70 - Cooling Fan Stopped working

Are you 100% sure that your cooling module has stopped working?
Maybe the cooling module is ok but cannot run with full performance and cannot cool the CPU properly due to the dust and debris inside the notebook?
What do you think about this theory?

I can tell you that I read a many stories and gossips about the overheating issues and to be honest most of such issues could be solved by fans cleaning.

I clean my cooling fans from time to time using a compressed air spray.
Such sprays are professional tools and can be purchased from most computer specialized dealers.

But if the fan stopped working then a compressed air spray will not help you.
In such case a technician should check the notebook.

Possibly the notebook must be disassembled completely to remove and to replace the faulty part.
Such procedure is really tricky and should be done only by an notebook technician.

Good luck buddy

Hi,

I have Satellite model L755-11j, and i'm really happy with it, resilient, fast and reliable, I only have one problem: My cooling fan seems to have stopped working.

I'm not sure if it is a hardware or software (BIOS is set to dynamic switch, and in power plan everything is set to "Active") issue, since I'm from Croatia, PC diagnostics are incredibly overpriced here and I can replace fan on my own.

I just want to make sure that I don't buy new cooling fan and my problem continues. Installing speedfan and Toshiba PC health monitor only confirmed what I suspected, my laptop is getting to hot.

I have bought external cooling fan to help keep my laptop's temperature down but with summer coming I would really like to solve this issue.

Answer:Satellite L755-11j - cooling fan seems to have stopped working

To be honest it is not easy to help you with this. Fact is that cooling fan runs automatically and there is no some special option where you can control it. Only thing that you can change is ?Cooling method? option that you can find in advanced power options > Toshiba power saver.

Check please which option is defined there. Of course on this virtual way it is not easy to say if cooling fan is defective or not.
Does it work or not? Can you notice warm air flow when you put your hand on cooling grill placed on the left side of your notebook?

About two weeks ago I placed my laptop down on the ground. When I picked it up two minutes later, there was an error on the screen which read something like "There is a problem with the cooling system, please contact your nearest Toshiba centre." Since then, the cooling fan has not worked.

I replaced the fan with a different one which also didn't work, so perhaps the problem is the system not the fan? Is there some setting within the system that allows me to manually turn the fan on and off?

Answer:Re: Satellite L550 - Cooling fan suddenly stopped working

> I replaced the fan with a different one
So that means you replaced it with another model?
Well, I think another fan model will never work because notebooks are specific products designed for certain series/models only. So you can?t change everything as on desktop computers.

In my opinion you should contact nearest authorized service provider. The guys can replace the fan and order a new one. If your notebook is under warranty, the repair will be for free. :)

Cheers

I bought my first toshiba laptop last saturday, and i find it wierd that the cooling fan works around 80%(data taken from the software provided: PC Toshiba Monitor Health) all the time i have the laptop on, it never slows or stops...nothing exept full throttle.

It keeps its cool, thats a fact, but its pretty noisy and while surfing the web or working on microsoft office for example, it can be pretty anoying and energy demanding.

Another thing i question is, in a long term, how healthy is the fact of the fan working non-stop at this amount of speed for the laptop? Should i be concerened and maby taking it to be checked by the store i bought it? Or its normal?

Hi,

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite L500-19Z and I keep getting the "Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service" message.

The cooling system is apparently working fine: PC health monitor says the fan is working, and using Speedfan I can see that the temperature is kept below about 53 degrees celsisus. I think I can hear the fan working and the openings at the side and bottom of the laptop are entirely clear.

I live in a cold area and don't use the computer for any processing-intensive activities, so there wouldn't be a reason for the computer to get hot anyway, as far as I know.

Please help.

Answer:Cooling System warning on Satellite L500-19Z

I think I've fixed it. I disabled all Toshiba startup programs and performed a disk check on the main harddisk. Now the error message is gone and the cooling system is actually working slightly better, keeping everything below 40 degrees celsius.

Any idea what might have happened or if it will reappear?

I went to use my laptop today, and I discovered that the touchpad has stopped working. In fact, I was unable to even get past the sign-on screen, and if it weren't for the fact that I got a mouse arrow with a plug-in USB mouse, the laptop would be completely dead to me.

My son uses the laptop for Minecraft gaming, but I don't think that has anything to do with this. Even a reboot didn't change anything. I wonder if a Windows update screwed something up (again)? I'm at a loss. I'm not always where I can set up a physical mouse to use - and frankly I don't want to have to.

Any suggestions?

Answer:My Toshiba Satellite touchpad suddenly stopped working

Found the solution. When I pressed the F5 button (not Fn + F5), I got a popup that said "touchpad disabled." When I pressed it again, it said "touchpad enabled." I unplugged my USB mouse and tried again, and it's now working. What a screwed up design that allows a user to accidentally disable one's touchpad with an accidental press of the F5 key. Then you have to research the problem before figuring out the problem. Someone in the Toshiba laptop design department should be fired.

I?m not quite sure why the software stopped working but I think it?s advisable to reinstall it.
You should firstly remove the old software (Toshiba player).
Then you should download the newer DVD player version from the Toshiba European driver page and should reinstall it.

Answer:Satellite A200 - Toshiba Controll Buttons stopped working

Hello

Have you only reinstalled the Toshiba controls driver or controls software too?
I think you should try to reinstall both applications.

So remove both applications in Add or Remove programs. After this restart the notebook and use CCleaner to remove still existing files from these programs and restart the notebook again.
Then install the Controls driver first and then Controls software.
Usually the driver must always been installed first.

Check this!!

Dear Toshiba,

Perhaps some can explain for me how this happens.

We have 2 x L500 laptops, One was purchased and activated on a day July 2010 ( Machine1 )
The other was purchased 1 day later from the same store and activated on the same day - 1 day later ( machine 2)

Yesterday, machine 1 responded with the Warning message, there is a problem with the cooling system - please shut down the machine and return it for service.

Today machine 2 responded with the exact same message, just after being switched on after 4 hours off....an unusual situation you say or is it some sort of built in : service generating feature ???
I am not convinced it's a fluke and there was nothing wrong with either machine that I could see.

Anyway a reboot of each machine fixed the problem, see how long it takes to return.
As you guessed it , both machines are out of warranty by a few months now.

If any of you have a similar problem, would be glad to hear from you.

regards,

Ernie

I?m not sure if this message has been created due to a software issue but the notebook should shuts down automatically if the cooling modules would not work properly and if the temperature would goes up to a higher level?

So I recommend watching the temp level for the next time and of course you could get in contact with an Toshiba ASP in your country if would notice higher temp or some hardware issue with the cooling module?

Hi,
I cannot get my Toshiba Satellite L500 13T PSLJ3E to work. Here is the timeline:

1. I brought it with Win Vista, It worked great for about 6 months but started slowing down and I decided to change it to Windows 7

2. I installed the Windows 7 using custom install(creating new "windows" folder, not upgrading Vista). Once again it worked great for about a month, but once again it ran into trouble - showing the Windows 7 version of the blue screen of death for 0.5 seconds followed by a restart.

3. I browsed the net and they said that the easiest way to get rid of the problem is to re-install. I did it(after trying several windows repairs) but yes, thats right, it died - before starting the windows it showed problems with Realtek Wireless.

4. I had hopes that third time - the charm will work and re-re-installed the W7(every time using new installation).
Once more time - doesnt work, but this time I cannot even get to install it - the windows installer stops at around 60% of the expanding files and says: problems with the media device. And after the restart I cannot find the Hard Drive(the BIOS shows only FDD and CD/DVD)

Now I'm stuck here, the only way to start the windows is by Safe Mode on my Wondows installed on point 3, yet not every time .
Unfortunately the first of my Recovery DVDs cannot start and on top of that I cannot enter into the recovery partition by pressing 0 at start up, but I see the Recovery Partition when I go to the WIndows in... Read more

Hello!

I've bought Toshiba Satellite l500-1ef November, and until now laptop worked brilliant. Three-four weeks ago, touchpad, and some space on the left of the touchpad started to be warm. I checked CPU temperature in Toshiba PC Health Monitor (v 1.4.1.64), and it was circa 30%, with 40% use of the cooler. The temperature is incresing in time, and now, after four weeks, touchpad is warmer, and it's about 45-50% temperature od CPU, with 50-60% use of the cooler.

I'm using laptop only for Internet, work in MS Word, and listening music, sometimes I play Warcraft III on it, I've got Windows 7.

Should I go with PC to technical support, or it's normal in my model?

Best regards,

Answer:CPU temperature in Toshiba Satellite l500-1ef

Hi mate

It?s nothing unusual that the touchpad would be warm since the CPU and cooling modules are placed near the touchpad.
So in my opinion you should not be worried about that.

The notebook?s temperature can increase after some time of usage?
This happens due to dust inside the cooling ventilators?
If you want, you can try to remove the dust using the compressed air spray?
I do this from time to time and this helps to keep the temperature on lower level?

I have this laptop with 3 Partitions

The main partition got corrupted and apparently wiped so all windows folders have been deleted and a low level format carried out

I still have the recovery sector

Just wondering how to reinstall it back onto the main partition

I tried F8 and it took me to a screen to choose language but after that it said "You must log in to access system recovery options"

I guess user data has been wiped from the main partition ?

Are there any other keys to press on startup to access the Recovery partition ?

Thanks

Hi, I bought Toshiba Satellite L500 -00W and it came with Windows Vista. I tried to downgrade to XP, but it doesn't allow XP installation. Do you know how to downgrade?

Thanks!

Answer:Toshiba Satellite L500 -00W downgrade to XP

Hello & Welcome, toshibaquestion.

Downgrading from Windows Vista to Windows XP is actually a very easy thing to do, BUT, I must warn you; it's the smartest of ideas since Windows XP and Windows Vista differ in driver capability and efficiency. So when you want to you use your MIC or Webcam, they may not work, this goes for your Audio, Network and even Display.

Also, Toshiba's a popular brand, and also a very updated** one, meaning they'll most likely be packed with a webcam, nice wireless card, hi-def monitor, etc - meaning, lots more drivers for you to fuss about and have to replace - which, believe me, isn't fun at all.

Downgrading would require you to actually make a partition (D), then install XP on your partition (D), and then delete your previous partition (C) - This is how I would do it, but I'm sure there's many many many other ways.

Dabble into it abit, and see if you find anything interesting. I'll be here to answer any further questions you may have.

Regards,
Undocked Windy

Satellite L500 running Windows 7.

So far I have removed drivers for both USB and Mouse devices via device manager and reinstalled at start up. strange thing is when I do this that the mouse devices become operational during installation then become inactive on completion....this lead me to believe that it may have been power management related. I have selected high performance as preferred power management profile and disabled USB selective suspend setting, once again with no joy. I find this really weird as the USB ports work in detecting the device and requesting the correct driver update.....any ideas?

Which driver have you removed for USBs?

Satellite L500 is not the newest notebook model so I would like to know since when you have noticed this problem.
Do you use original Win7 version you got with your notebook (recovery image)?
Have you tried to install chipset utility again?

I was using Windows Media Player yesterday to copy music to my MP4 player. It read 2 cd's but on the 3rd it stopped working. I thought that it was because it was a burnt CD however, i've been trying all my CD's store bought and everything and even DVD's and it takes forever for the driver to try and read them then in the My Computer window it comes up a message: "Please insert a disk into Drive D" and ejects the CD or DVD.

I checked the properties and it says that the device is working correctly.

I even ran the PC DIagnotistc Tool on the D drive but it just skips over it.

Any ideas? My laptop is only a month or 2 old.

Answer:Satellite L500 - CD/DVD Drive has stopped playing CD's and DVD's

Remove the optical disc drive from the device manager list and restart your notebook.

Hope I've got this in the right place.

Purchased above and upgraded sucessfully to Windows 7 from XP.
However, the sound is very poor quality - sounds "tinny"

This is applicable to CDs, radio and DVDs particularly when listening to audio books and radio making it impossible to listen to. Have tried changing the settings for the Realtek High Def Speakers, but no difference. Then updated drivers. Windows test 'sounds' are okay and sound coming from both speakers.

I think I've tweaked every available setting I can find but can't find a tweak/setting to change the sound (less bass?). I have seen the volume control and it makes no difference.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

What is it with Toshiba? The part number is clearly printed on the label on the underside of the laptop but the corresponding part number appears nowhere on the Toshiba support pages. I'm trying to find downloads for a Satellite L500 PSLS6A-00X013 but it doesn't show up any where. The serial number search is as useless as the part number search. Am I missing something?

OK so i have just received an older laptop that im trying to resurrect.

O/S : Windows 7Model : Toshiba satellite L500 PSLS3A-04M002Battery model NO : PA3534U-1BRS
It died a few days ago and refuses to boot, press the power button -> power LED glows briefly and goes out.
As it's a smart battery you can't boot directly off the AC adaptor because it's expecting a signal over the SMBus (IIRC) power LED doesn't even light up with A/C only with the battery is removed.
I believe it's the battery.
First because i disassembled the laptop, cleaned it, and put it back together, nothing seemed wrong with other system components.
Second, it's only a small 3620mAh Li-ion that (AFAIK) hasn't been changed since the laptop was bought (roughly 2011/2012) so im thinking the charge cycles have been well and truly used up.
OK no problem, searched around online using the battery model number (above), found a replacement

Cool, battery's enroute, should be here in the next few days.

Now the interesting part... When i go on Toshiba's site to look for some specs/drivers... the Laptop model doesn't exist, even under the discontinued models section... But there are a whole bunch of other models :

Also, there's no live / website or email based technical support :

The HDMI port on my Satellite L500 laptop is not sending information to my sony bravia tv. All was working fine up until a couple of days ago. When i plug the hdmi lead into the port, it seems as if the laptop is aware it's plugged in as the screen flickers. The fn +F5 keys do as they should, but no picture appears on the tv. The tv shows a lead is plugged in also and again the screen flicks to say a source is there but then remains black. I can't see an issue in device manager and all drivers are saying they're up to date. I have also tried a new hdmi lead but nothing. Can anyone help with this?

Try running a System Restore back to a previous point when it was working.

If still not working uninstall and re-install the graphics drivers from the Toshiba Support site for your model.

The cooling fan on an old Toshiba Satellite L30 - 105 runs normally for some time then stops then revs up to high rpm before running normally again. I have cleaned the fan and it spins freely but it makes no difference when powered on. The fan appears to be in working order as when I boot into the Bios Setup it runs at constant speed, however, when I boot into Windows Vista Basic the problem occurs. I have tried adjusting the power settings in Vista (there appears to be no speciific setting for the cooling fan) but to no avail. I have also searched the Bios settings but there is nothing to adjust there either. I have checked the CPU and hard drive operating temps and it is not overheating as all are within safe limits. Sorry I wasn't exactly sure where to post this thread

I looked up how to remove this warning that keeps coming up on this forum earlier and followed the procedure someone posted about renaming a file called TWARNMSG.EXE. i couldn't find that file, and as the problems and the make of laptop were slightly different, I thought I'd post my issue.

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-16W and I have a message that keeps coming up every ~20 seconds headed "System Warning" and reads: "Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. (Next Line) Please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service."

I have had this warning coming up for months and tolerated it but it has gotten worse and annoyed me for the last time. I can hear the fan, and the computer is not over heating. No other issues arise like the computer slowing down, it just gets in the way of what I am doing, like typing right now. As I have typed, it's already popped up 6-7 times.

Please help soon, this is preventing me from gaming and even other things by now.

Thanks

Answer:Repetitive cooling system warning -- Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-16W

I'm going to have your thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Please stay subscribed.

Note: TWarnMsg twarnmsg.exe > Toshiba System Warning Function for Windows 98, Me, 2000 - provides notification dialog when the cooling fan stops ...

This is a valid program, but it is up to you whether or not you want it to run on startup.
---------------------------------------
There are some rogue programs that give fake alerts or 'critical system messages.' But this isn't one of them. It is specific to the brand of system you have. It might be that someone in the other forum has another idea- but my suggestion would be to take it to a show and have them open and clean out the box.

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what is wrong there. Start notebook in safe mode and test it again. If the same happen again and again I presume keyboard must be exchanged.

As far as I know there is no way to ?force? one single keyboard key to work again.

Recently got a Satellite L500-1DT for my Mum who's learning to use a computer for the first time and everything works apart from the built in webcam, of which was a big part of the decision in buying it.

The blue light comes on and it records sound but not any images. It also doesn't take the photo shot either, and in both cases just shows the cloudy sunset image that appears to be a defualt shot on the program. I've tried troubleshooting for her but there's nothing in the help guide that tells you how to fix it if it's not working.
The software was already preloaded when it was bought (we got it online) and I don't want to uninstall it as I don't think we have a disc.

Can anyone help?

Answer:Webcam is not working on Satellite L500-1DT

Hi buddy!

I?m not quite sure but in my opinion you should try to reinstall the webcam driver. Just check the Toshiba page for an update:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

But before you install the newest version, remove the old one first and restart the notebook.

Regarding the disk that you mean, as far as I know Toshiba notebook will not delivered with ?recovery disk?. That means you have to create it yourself using Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. This disk contains an image about ?factory settings?. This is the same version as you have started the notebook the first time.

By the way: Normally after the first start you should get a message like this. Can you confirm this?

+Important INFORMATION+

+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+
+and follow the menue instructions) or create a bootable Recovery Disc Medium for this purpose.+

+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+
+hat you are able to restore your computer to the original factory installed state, even if your computer+
+gets seriously damaged+

Which operating system do you use?
Try to remove web camera application again, clean registry and all entries there, restart notebook and try to install right webcam driver again.
I really don?t know what else you can try.

By the way: what is the webcam status in device manager?

My Satellite Pro L500 keyboard has sudenly stopped working, how do i get it working other than a remote keyboard?

Answer:Satellite Pro L500 Keyboard not working

> keyboard has suddenly stopped working

You didn?t post many details regarding the keyboard issue but I think there could be a simple hardware malfunction which can be solved only by replacement of internal keyboard.

My Satellite L500 screen is not working. I can connect laptop to a monitor and use ok but the screen on the laptop is blank.

Have I done something to cause this?

Answer:Screen is not working on my Satellite L500

I don?t think so.
If you cannot switch back to notebook?s display using FN+F5 I?m afraid there is some hardware problem.

Either is the problem with display cable or display itself. Fact is that notebook must be disassembled and all this must be checked.
You can contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help.

I have an L500-19Z running Windows 7. Up until yesterday the HDMI output socket was working fine.
However, now, when I plug a cable in the screen keeps goes blank and then returning to normal.
This continues for a few minutes and then when I try to output to eg a TV it shows as not connected.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing this?
Device Manager says that the device is working OK and I've checked that the driver is up to date.

I'm now stumped!

Answer:HDMI not working on Satellite L500-19Z

Hi

Did you try the Fn + F5 option?
This switch the video output to external monitor or TV.
You have to press this several times in order to choose TV.

Set also BIOS to default settings and test it again

Hello Everyone

I have a problem, suddenly, without doing anything, my *FN keys stop working*. First the luminosity adjustment still worked without appearing the bar on the top of the screen, but when I reboot the computer not even that works, nothing related with the FN key works.

My biggest problem is that my computer is a Toshiba Satellite L500-13W and *i can only activate Wireless pressing FN+F8*. I can't stay with this problem much more. I already looked in this forum and in other sites but none of the solutions have solved my problem.
I hope you can help me.

Thanks in Advance.

(Sorry for my bad English) :|

Oh I forgot to say, I am using Windows Vista 32 bit

The HDMI output on my Satellite L500 seems to have stopped working in the past few months.
I've tried different cables but it is still not working.

Any ideas?

Answer:HDMI output not working on my Satellite L500

When you press FN+F5 key combination while notebook is not connected with HDMI cable, you will see one option (LCD) only. When you connect HDMI cable can you see other additional options like LCD, LCD+HDMI, HDMI and so on?

Please be also sure that right HDMI port on your TV is enabled.

By the way: which OS do you use?

Good Morning,

I noticed that my Satellite L500-19X's hard disk was on it's way out so I have bought a replacement. I used the tool on the machine to create 2 restore DVD's to re-install the system.

The restore seems to run ok, working through both disks etc. It finishes, asks me to remove the media and the machine reboots.

The Windows 7 startup begins, but get's to "Setup is applying system settings" and I get a message stating "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware."

Does anyone have any ideas? I've run the restore a couple of times with the same result. I'm rather surprised that the restore CD's are essentially useless.

Answer:Satellite L500-19x - Restore disks not working

Is this first time that you have used recovery discs?
If your old disc still works somehow try to reinstall OS using HDD recovery procedure - [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm] - just to see if the same will happen again.

It is not easy to say what is wrong there but maybe by disc creation some bits were not saved on the right place. Who knows? ?:|

Hello,

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L500 and all the sudden my touchpad stop working.
I tried check in the control panel the options for mouse but I can not even find it in there.

Any idea of how to solve it.
Do I have to take it to a technical center?

Thanks,

Answer:Satellite L500: touchpad stoped working

Hi

Firstly; please check if the touchpad has not been disabled accidently.
Check FN + F9. This function enables and disables the touchpad.

Furthermore you can go to control panel -> mouse -> Device settings
Here you should also check if the touchpad is on or off.

Last but not least an touchpad driver update or reinstallation might help

Answer:Satellite L500 - touchpad & CD-rom are not working anymore

Best way to test functionality is to install original recovery image again and test hardware with ?factory settings?.
Please use recovery DVD discs, if you have created them, or use HDD recovery option - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

My USB boards stopped working so I got another board for an L500 and suspect it is incompatible. The board fits fine but once a USB is entered it has trouble reading them. A iPhone or an MP3 will charge for example but you wont be able to open the devices folder and edit/see content.

I have tried disabling the drivers and completely removing them and turning off the computer, waiting 15mins and then turning back on but I keep getting "device malfunctioned" messages. I am going nuts trying to sort this as it has rendered my laptop almost useless to me. Anyone that could help I'd be eternally grateful!!

I suspect the only hope left would be reinstalling windows but my CD is scratched so can't even do that.

Answer:USB replacment board not working on Satellite L500-1XC

Hi

I don?t see many options here:
Either the USB board is compatible and would work properly or its not compatible or faulty and it will not work as it should.

The USB drivers are part of the system and cannot be installed separately.
You need to install the windows to check how the USB board would work...,

You have reinstalled Win7 using original Toshiba recovery image?

Generally speaking all you can do now is to reinstall TVAP or flash cards support utility.
Have you tried to restart flash cards? Do this and press FN button several times.

Hi,

About 2 weeks I have a new L500-19E with Windows 7 and it worked fine. But since a few days I have trouble with my microphone, no matter if I use the internal or an external headset/mic. The issue is that it seem to work for a few seconds only, e.g. trying a call via skype, teamspeak etc. but people only hear my hello and a few more words, then they only hear me very quite. The settings all seem to be fine and I already downloaded/installed the newest realtek drivers but nothing helps.

Does anyone has an idea what the issue can be and how to fix?

Thanks
stammann

Answer:Satellite L500-19E - Microphone stops working after few words

Hi

Really strange, stammann. Have you also tried to update the webcam driver? I ask this because the microphone is a part of the webcam so you should also update this driver. Just check the Toshiba page for an update:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

Have you also activated Microphone boost? You can check this in Windows sound settings.

Front volume control does not work. Volume is set to max and can only be controlled by mouse and slider control.
Can anyone help?

Answer:Re: Satellite L500 iCQ Rotary Volume Control is not working

To be honest I don't think anyone will be able to help you with this.
As far as I know this is not mechanical volume control as used on old notebook models but electronically part controlled by software so only thing you can do is to test the functionality with ?factory settings? and see if the problem will be the same.

What else you can do? I don't know. Maybe BIOS update but I really don't think this will help.

Do you use original preinstalled OS you got with your notebook?
Have you made some changes or anything that can have negative influence to this?
Since when you have noticed this strange behaviour?
