Difficulty uninstalling program

Question: Difficulty uninstalling program

I'm attempting to uninstall frostwire on an intel i3 M 380 thats running windows 7. Frostwire is a clone to the limewire program. Its currently running and trying to make me select a directory to save my files in, not the installation but where my downloaded files through frostwire are saved. I can't find the program running in my task manager as a process or an application. when I attempt to uninstall it through remove programs on the control panel it doesn't recognize frostwire as installed. I'm thinking that frostwire hasn't completed its installation and i don't have permission to select a directory to save files into or some thing of that nature. when i try to close it the program reports an error then re-opens and tries to make me select a directory again. even if i just click on the close button.

I'm not very fimilar with the windows 7 operating system. I run an older winows XP myself. this is my brother's computer he asked me to help him fix it haha.

Any help is very much apreciated thank you.

Preferred Solution: Difficulty uninstalling program

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Difficulty uninstalling program

Try Your Uninstaller!, see if that program detects Frostwire and try uninstalling it..

Hello Fellow Forum Posters:

This my first posting in the forum. I have been trying to uninstall AVGFree 2011 Edition (for Windows 7 64-bit). I have gone to the AVG website, downloaded and run their uninstall
program and have removed most of the files; however, some of the program remains. When I type AVG into the search box two files come up: "TableTextServiceSimplifiedZhengMa".
(I believe this is part of the Chinese language portion of the Note Pad section in the program.) When these files come up in the start box I right-click the "delete"; a dialog
box appears saying "Unable to delete because file needs permission of TrustedInstaller". When I search for this "TrustedInstaller" it is located; I then right-click on to "file location";
The location comes up and the option is to open it using Explorer. The browser page appears momentarily, then the dialog box "View downloads-Windows Internet Explorer" appears (?) After this
I reach a dead-end because this dialog box is empty and without further instructions. (I wish I could include screen-shots of this process but I have not yet learned how to do that.)
I have opened these two identical aforementioned files and they contain about 1,975 separate items; I have tried deleting them one-by-one; when I have clicked on the "Organize" button
and then "Select All" and then the "Delete" button this vast group of items actually begins to del... Read more

Hi JulianAS,
Download Revo Uninstaller Pro (trial version Free for a month) and use the built-in 'forced uninstall' utility... type in programs name or file path and hit delete... follow the prompts and this will remove all of the AVG residual left overs.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

It is a program that i use along side windows add/remove as it also removes the registry files.

Recently cloned new hard drive "F" from old drive "C" because "C" was becoming unstable. After many many problems trying to get the new system to run I have disconnected the old "C" drive and managed to get the new drive "F" running well (with a lot of help from you guys!) with internet connection running. Unfortunately I cannot reinstall Zone Alarm or MS Office because there are still parts of these programs referred to on the new drive "F" and I get error messages e.g. C:\Windows\Internet Logs\\Installer_07151013146.log could not be opened. The system could not find the path specified." ZA have given me clean uninstall prog to download but it will not!!Also when trying to uninstall these progs from my Control Panel I get the messages "An error occurred while trying to remove ZA. You do not have access to C:\Program. You can specify the new uninstall program below" What do I do here ? and similar problem with MS Office, which will not install from the disk either.I do not really want to reconnect old "C" drive as I feel this will create the old problems again. Sorry this is long winded but I would be grateful for any advice you can offer.

click here this should get rid if it. This will remove the registry entries and you will be able to re-install your programs again. I have used this to recover office after transfering one drive to a new drive.

Hi guys
I'm using windows 7 and despite my numerous attempts, my older version of cs6 wont uninstall.
I have already used up my trial on the oder version and when i try to open up illustrator on my newer version, the message "00 days remaining, your trial has expired" comes up.
After this I tried to remove the older version by uninstalling cs6 from the control panel and using the adobe cleaner tool. I would have thought it would have removed al the data entries but wen I try to open illustrator (on my newer version), the same "trial is over message keeps coming up.
I've been pulling out my hair over this. Anyone have a solution?
Thanks, herms

Hey
For a couple of days now i've been trying to get rid of Windows Live Messenger as it doesn't work so that i can re-install it. (OS: Vista)
Couldn't find it in control panel > uninstall/change programs so i just went to the Windows Live folder and tried a Shift + Delete to just get rid of the program completely.
One problem is that it wont let me delete all of the files (relating to the photo gallery and contacts) - saying that i dont have permission even though i'm the admin.
Another problem is that even though (as far as i can see) all of the files relating to the messenger have gone - when i run the installer it says that its already installed so i cant re-install it!
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks

Download and install the freeware Ccleaner. Use it to clean your registry of entries your simple deletion of folders and files has left behind. See if it will install after that.

When I first installed Paint Shop Pro 7 on my (OEM) machine it worked without problem. It also worked properly after a system reset.

Now that I have installed a fresh retail version of the operating system I have encountered a slight problem with Paint Shop Pro. It is installed in the Program Files( x86) folder.

If I try to open a jpg by clicking on it, or by right clicking on it and selecting "Open with paint Shop Pro", I am told that "This app can't run on your PC" etc, and suggests I contact the program's manufacturer.
But if I open Paint Shop Pro, I can drag and drop jpegs into it and they open.

Why is this installation of Windows 8.1 behaving differently, and how can I overcome the inconvenience?

Answer:Difficulty running 32 bit program.

I uninstalled it, using IObit's Uninstaller, and had it search for and erase left-overs.

After reinstallation it now works properly.

Hello,

My computer is setup to use a 120gb SSD for my OS (Windows 7 ultimate 64bit) and a 2Tb hard drive for my program files, user folders etc. I use junction points to link the program files and user files from C:\ to D:\. This normally works like a charm however I recently updated iTunes and it deleted my C:\Program Files (x86) junction point and created a Program Files (x86) folder on the C:\ drive, this completely roots my system as all my Program Files (x86) are stored on my D:\ drive and now my computer can't find them since the junction point has been deleted. How can it do this and most importantly any reason as to why it's doing this? It's an easy fix on my end as all I have to do is put back in my windows installation disk boot from it and remake the junction point but it's a real pain to do it when it shouldn't happen in the first place.

Also after remaking the Junction point I decided to uninstall iTunes and it once again deleted my junction point while uninstalling.

(Note: My Program Files, and User, junction points have worked as normal and have not been deleted just my Program Files (x86) junction point. I am creating my junction points using the command mklink "C:\Program Files (x86)" "D:\Program Files (x86)" /J)

Does anyone have any ideas to why this is happening? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Nairda.

I re-installed STEAM yesterday and since then it's been giving me trouble. I can run and play it fine (well, there's major connection issues but that's not for here) but when I reboot my computer it just uninstalls itself. I don't see it uninstalling, but when I come back my computer can't locate the steam.exe and my steam folder is missing nearly all the files.

Now, when I was uninstalling steam, I did delete some "Steam" registry files but looking in my registry now, I can see those folders are back.

Any help?

Answer:Program uninstalling itself

Sounds like it is installing in a temp folder which gets emptied upon reboot. Try changing the path that it installs to a different directory than the default.

Good day,
My laptop has been working fine for 6 months until my daughter used it. She installed a program called "I Give-Shopping_Window" which supposedly gives a percentage of things you purchase from stores on their site to a non-profit of your choice. Anyway, I've noticed a major sluggishness since this program has been on here.

I went to control panel and tried to uninstall and got an error message that said there may have been a problem uninstalling and gave me 2 options to choose: "Uninstall using recommended settings" and "This program uninstalled correctly." I chose the first option and it did nothing.

I then went to my C drive and found the folder. I clicked on it and hit delete and was if I really want to move it to the recycle bin and I said yes. Then a window pops up that tells me I need to confirm this operation. I hit continue, another window pops up that says "Windows needs your permission to continue" and I hit continue. THEN I get a window that says, "Destination folder access denied, you need permission to perform this action."

I went to the registry to try and delete it and it's no where to be found! I opened the task manager and lo and behold, it's listed as an actively running program. I clicked on it and hit "End Process" and it didn't do anything!

I just want to get rid of this program and nothing I seem to do is correct. I am really 'stupid' when it comes ... Read more

Hello everyone.  I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 2), 32 bit, 4 gig ram, Intel T2250 processor (1.73 ghz) with a 110 gig HD.I noticed that my hard drive seemed rather full (only 35.8 gig free).  So I ran windows disk cleanup, I ran CCleaner and I ran Wise Disk Cleaner with only minimal success.  So I looked to see if there were any programs that I could remove (that I don't use).  In the add remove I came across "WeightWatchers On-The-Go", an old program of my wife's, and it said that it was 20.5 gigs.  So, after asking the better half (who didn't even remember the program), I tried to uninstall.  I then received this error:>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.CPP (468PAPP:Weight Watchers On-the-GoPVENDOR:WeightWatchers.com, Inc.(http://www.WeightWatchers.com)PGUID:[email protected]  Service Pack 2 (6002) IE 8.0.6001.18904with an OK button below.  When I click OK, I get this error from InstallShield Wizard:Please do the following:  -Close any running programs  -Empty your temporary folder  -Check your Internet connection (Internet-based Setups)Then try to run the Setup again.Error code:  -5001I've tried to run it in safe mode also, with no avail.  Any help would be appreciated[recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]

Answer:Help uninstalling program

You can either reinstall and then uninstall it, try REVO Uninstaller, or just delete the folder manually (it won't uninstall it, but with a program like that it's no big deal - the files will be gone and the space will be free) and leave the program entries in the registry - no harm done. Also, either disable and then re-enable system restore (note - all restore points will be deleted immediately) or just disable it completely and start using disc imaging software on a regular basis. This will free up a lot of space.

Hello,
I've been using Windows Vista for years and now have a PC running Windows 8 (.1 or. 2) (is there a 2?)

I'm trying to uninstall a program file (dll) in my program files 86 folder but it says I can't while it's running in windows.
I watched an online video which tells me to open the command prompt but his method doesn't work on my PC.

Can anyone give me instructions on how to get rid of this dll or tell me how to open my windows command prompt so I can try the videos method?

Cheers!

Answer:Uninstalling a Program

One has to be careful with dll files in case they are shared. try renaming it first ProgramName.dll old-- and run your system awhile to see if you get any warnings first, especially at boot up. Then when no problems appear or crashes show up in Reliability History(in the Action Center) then you can unregister the dll.

Open an Admin command prompt by right clicking the windows icon and choose it.

For the path name you can use drag and drop in windows 8 by opening file explorer and dragging the dll to the command prompt after you type regsvr32 /u"
example: regsvr32 /u "C:\Windows\System32\amdmantle64.dll"(this is for an AMD ?graphics dll)
Don't forget quotes
Register dll file

To register a dll or ocx file, open a command prompt windows as an administrator, type the following and hit Enter:regsvr32 ?path & filename of dll or ocx?Unregister dll file

To un-register a dll or ocx file, open a command prompt windows as an administrator, type the following and hit Enter:regsvr32 /u ?path & filename of dll or ocx? This will register or unregister the dll file.

Having succesfully upgraded from XPSP2 to Vista RC1 on my laptop, I have discovered that my ISPs own AV program PCGuard (Blue Yonder) does not work with Vista.

I have tried uninstalling, although the uninstaller does not execute, stating that the programe requires Windows 98, Windows XP etc etc

I have tried removing from the startup items from Control Panel although the options here are greyed out.

Is there anyway I can remove this program to stop the "failed to initialise" messages each time I start my machine

Whenever I tried to uninstall PowerPoint Presenter Professional Suit 2007, a message will appear:

"Could not open INSTALL.LOG file"

What should I do to uninstall it? :confused

Answer:Uninstalling a Program

This is a permission issue with the log file required by the uninstall.exe file.
Locate and copy the "install.log" file to your desktop (log file location may vary, depends upon your application uninstall.exe shortcut) Then delete the "install.log" file from the original location. Now run the "uninstall.exe" and this should prompt you for the "install.log" file location. Point it to the file now on your desktop.

This should now allow you to uninstall the program.

SearchProtect is malware.
Download Junkware Removal Tool, Run it. A DOS window appears. Press Any key. It starts to automatically scan.
Now download ADWCleaner. Run it, Install it. Scan, Leave Everything Checked. Clean. This program asks to Restart computer to finish. Both programs show a text document when done showing the files they have removed.

nope, you can uninstall it from anywhere.

rpm -e packagename

I usually query it first:

rpm -q packagename

Hi,
I want to uninstall a program called "ExpressFiles". When I try to uninstall the program I get a pop-up message.
I am attaching the name of the program and the pop-up message.
What is the danger if I keep the program. What harm is it llikely to inflict my system. By the way I use Windows 7 Ultimate (Dell Inspiron 15R).

Thanking you in advance

Answer:Uninstalling a program

Hello rintobs and welcome to Seven Forums.

It appears that you have a free product called Express-Files on your computer. It's supposed to be a search tool with a built in download manager.

Express Files

The pop-up message you received wasn't attached to your post. I'm guessing it was something like "Do you really want to uninstall this?" A lot of programs try to convince people to keep their product installed and offer an "are you sure" message. If that's the mesage you get, I'd say it's OK to uninstall the program. Once you do, I'd also recommend you run a full antimalware scan just in case it's not what I think it is. You could also use Malwarebytes free as a secondary scan.

I downloaded a free CAD program in Feb. of '07. I haven't used it in well over a year and I want to uninstall it. Problem is when I go to "programs and features" to get rid of it, nothing happens. Well, actually something is happening because if I try to click uninstall again, it says "Wait for the current program to uninstall or change".  I can close out of control panel, but when I try to do anything else it completely hangs. I let it set there once for 30 minutes and nothing happened. If anyone has some advice that would be great. Thanks. I have Vista Home Premium

I recently did a free download of Active Desktop Calender but decided I didn't want it anymore so I tried to uninstall it. When doing this, in the programs and features I clicked remove program from list. Now when I go into the file location I try to delete it and go through all the administrator stuff it still won't let me remove the program. Any help would be great!

Try Unlocker or LockHunter. Sometimes Explorer shell will hold a file handle open even though the library or exe is closed. Just google for download links.

you could look at manually uninstalling it but that will be a hard task - alternatively the cover dvd a few issues back had a free copy of cccleaner on it or you can download it for free. The second tab down called issues allow you to uninstall progs and this will do a good job for you.

I was browsing the internet and was going to install this one software, but noticed i clicked on the wrong button and AdvanceVirusRemover was installed. I looked on the control panal to uninstall it, didn't show up, so i went through and deleated all the files pertaining to the program. now, there is an icon on my tool bar that i can't click on and it blocks some of my stuff, like when i try opening a movie, saying the the "Application cannot be executed. The file is infected. Please activate your antivirus software." i ran a virus scan, got nothing. I even tried a full restore, since i just got this computer monday, and it was still there.

Any help on removing this program?

Hi Guys,

I'm really desperate on this!
I have previously opened a thread similar to this.

And I quote myself:

My computer started to loop after I installed an update of Alcohol120%. I have Vista business operating system loaded.

When I start up, the PC only stays on for a few seconds, hardly giving me time to do anything before it restarts. How can I uninstall the update, so that I can work on my PC again?

I have tried the F8 'solution' but safe mode and none of the other options have worked.

PLEASE HELP!!

end quote.

I really need help to uninstall the update version, but like I say, Windows Vista just doesn't give enough time to do so before it restarts and the whole process start all over again.

Also, it gives me a BSOD, but it happens so fast, I cant even read on it what it says before it restarts, just catch the words 'file dump' in the end each time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. ;-)

Welcome to Seven forums.

Go to C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86) and delete folders with the program's name and re-try the install.
Also use CCleaner and run the registry cleaner function. See the link in my sig, download the free "no thanks" version.

Ok So, I have a program, this program is called Lord of the Rings Online - Roheryn. It is specifically a version of the video game client for the MMORPG Lord of the Rings Online (who would have guess huh?..). Now, "Roheryn" is a preview server were the game developers release content before it goes to the live (retail) servers. Since it's a preview server it requires it's own client to keep it seperate from the regular (retail) client.

Now, there was recently an update to the Roheryn client, and I need to UNINSTALL my current version before installing the new one (okay and?), I can't. Simple as that, I am faced with an error message when I click "Uninstall" from the Add/Remove Programs window. I get the same message when I try to use the games uninstall executive file.

So my question to you is, wtf!?

Okay, I lied, it's actually "How do I get this 6.6GBs of useless junk off my PC without using the uninstaller, or ruining my normal client"?

Hello Guys,
I am not too experienced here but I'd like your help. A couple questions.
I have autocad (a large program) installed on my computer which has windows XP.
I noticed the program wasn't working properly so I tried to reinstall it. I was unsuccessful and my first question is....is it because the program was uninstalled?
Secondly I tried to uninstall the program but I did not see the program listed
(on the page where all the programs are supposed to be listed). A number of other programs are listed on the left side of the page and on the right side it says "change/remove"
I did not see the autocad program listed. I know it is in the "program files" folder.
How can I uninstall this program? and would I be able to re-install this progran once it is uninstalled?
Thank you very much!!

Hi, I'm kinda new around here. Not 100% sure this belongs under hardware problems, since it isn't really hardware... Anyway, I new with windows Vista 64-bit and have been having problems with WoW. For certain reasons I needed to uninstall and reinstall it, and could not find it under uninstall programs. I reinstalled it and then found that it was then under uninstall programs (WoW), but it still didn't delete everything from the previous installation. My question is, how can I go about cleaning up all the remaining files scattered about? I'm sure there's still things left over in the registry, etc. Would a registry cleaning program do that or do I need to manually go into the registry and find the files (which I'm not sure I want to do...). Plus I'm sure there's other files that weren't just in the registry. It's not a huge deal, I guess, I just don't want any of the old files to cause a conflict when I'm reinstalling the game. I've already had plenty of errors >.< Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Use Revo Uninstaller. That will get rid of the Registry entries and some of the misc files roaming around. From there just go in under Program Files and delete the WoW directory.

I think I read in another thread, recently, a suggestion for getting rid of a program that doesn't appear in the 'Add/Remove Programs' list. The suggestion (if I remember it correctly), was to delete the progam's folder from C:\Program Files, and then to run CCleaner's registry cleanup tool to get rid of the leftover registry entires.I'm trying to think up ways to get rid of the phoney antispyware program, Spyware Guard 2009, from a friend's computer (to read my earlier thread on this click here). It has so far resisted all attempts to nuke it.Do you think the above method would be OK, or would I cause all kinds of problems? And do you have any better suggestions?I'll be very grateful for any advice.

This was really handy and worked well using XP. The GADWIN co. came out with a version

I went to "control panel"," add/remove programs", and the program was removed from THat SITE. However it is still showing in "Program Files".
How can I totally remove this program from my PC? I see that free programs are available
that supposedly will do just that, however I have no experience using such a program.
Will one of you learned gentlemen come to my rescue.
For some reason the Gadwin Co. will not respond to me E-mail.
Thanks for your help.

often all you have to do is right click on the file in program files and simply select delete. If you download Ccleaner (google it) you can run the cleaner that comes with that which will often find all the loose bits of registry entries and files left over.

Hi Guys,
I'm totally stuck.
I loaded a program called Hallmark Card Maker with a feature called Event Reminder. So when I start up (boot ) my computer. Any birthdays in my family will come up when it comes close to the day. But when I got the new computer someone told me you can save all the birthdays from the old computer and load them into the new computer with Windows Explorer with a floppy. When I did it I made it so the program will not start up with error messages telling me some files were missing. So I made another mistake I think, I reloaded (reinstalled) the program, because I thought it would only reinstall the files that were missing . Now it works great, but I noticed I have a copy on C drive and a copy under Programs (were it belongs- under Programs) So I thought I would just uninstall it and reinstall it. So when I went to Add Remove Programs under Control Panel its not in the list ? so now I can't uninstall it ? So I thought I better stop before I just totally wreck my computer because if I just delete it under Windows Explorer, I heard you can really wreck your computer as programs should be uninstalled not deleted.
Totally Frustrated

How do I stop uninstalling a program?

Answer:stop uninstalling a program

When uninstalling a program there should be a cancel button in the pop-up Window. Clicking that should cancel the uninstall.

Do note though some programs do not have a cancel button and once you uninstall them you'll need to reinstall them.

If the program does uninstall you could still reinstall.

I followed this tutorial on how to manually uninstall programs (http://www.theeldergeek.com/manually_uninstall_programs.htm). Things were going great, except the program is still listed on appwiz.cpl. I can't find anyway to remove it from the list, and when I try clicking on it, it tries to install itself again. Is there anyway to completely remove this thing from my computer?

Answer:Solved: Need help uninstalling a program(Vista)

Try uninstalling the program with Revo Uninstaller.

I want to reinstall Norton Systemworks 2002. I need to do this after having had a virus, eliminated it, and reinstalled Windows.

However I cannot do it without uninstalling Norton Antivirus first. The Systemworks setup program tells me this.

Problem is that, when I go to Control Panel Uninstall/Change, neither the Norton Systemworks or Antivirus icons are in there.

When I look for them in Search they are all there but I don't know how to get them into the Uninstall Window. I cannot drag an icon into it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Len

Answer:Uninstalling - Hidden Program Icon in Xp

I found my own answer in the AntiVirus Help File. Here it is for any of you in a similar situation (That new virulent [email protected] virus disables Norton Systemworks but they have a downloadable removal tool):

To uninstall Norton AntiVirus

Once you begin uninstalling Norton AntiVirus, you will not be able to access this help information. You should print out these instructions before beginning the uninstall.
Note: During uninstall, Windows may indicate that it is installing software. This is a general Microsoft installer message and can be disregarded.

1 On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Programs > Norton AntiVirus > Uninstall Norton AntiVirus.

2 Click Remove to confirm that you want to uninstall the product.

3 Click Next.

4 If you have files in Quarantine, you are asked if you want to delete them. Select one of the following:

Yes. Deletes the Quarantined files from your computer.
No. Leaves the Quarantined files on your computer, but they are inaccessible. To repair or submit the files to Symantec for analysis, reinstall Norton AntiVirus.

5 Click Finish.

6 Click Yes to restart your computer.

7 If you have no other Symantec products on your computer, you should also uninstall LiveUpdate and LiveReg.

To uninstall LiveReg and LiveUpdate

1 Do one of the following:

On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
On the Windows XP taskbar, click Start > Control Panel.

2 In the Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Prog... Read more

Hello,

This could be the wrong place to post this, but I'll give it a try anyway. Unbelievably I just tried installing a (Pool) game that was most likely originally designed to be played on Windows 95 (from an old disc that my wife still has laying around the house). However, I am running Windows Vista on my laptop, and of course it did not work. I should have known that it wouldn't. Anyway, all I wanted to do afterward was uninstall the program (after it only partially installed it), but it wouldn't let me. Here is the error I received:

The log file ‘C:\Program Files\Intrplay\VPoolW\DeIsL1.isu’ is not valid or the data has been corrupted. Uninstallation will not continue.

Can someone please explain to me exactly how I can finish the uninstall process? That would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Having issues with uninstalling Avast program from my laptop which is currently running Windows 10. Not sure what else I can do to remove the program. Used conventional methods such as 'Uninstall Program' from Control Panel as well as using 3rd party software to completely remove the program however it seems to still be there and available to run however it is corrupted at the moment. Attempted to delete files using the registry but the program (AVAST) could not be found. Could not delete manually via %program files% either as it says I do not have permission although I am administrator. Also attempted using CCleaner to remove residue files but the files are still there in my program folders.

Looking for any advice on how to successfully remove this program so i can install a new version.

Please help!!

Many thanks in Advance

HEY EVERYONE

I HAVE DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED A GAME 'COMBAT ARMS' WOKS GREAT, HOWEVER I AM UNABLE TO UNINSTALL IT, AS IT IS NOT LOCATED IN THE CONTROL PANEL TO UNINSTALL AND THE UNINSTALLER IS NOT IN THE COMBAT ARMS FOLDER IN THE C DRIVE. I HAVE DOWNLOADED 'MYUNINSTALLER' AND STILL THE PROGRAM IS NOT THERE TO UNINSTALL.

SO I HAVE INSTALLED THE PROGRAM AGAIN FROM THE SAME SETUP FILE AND INSATLLED IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE FIRST TIME I INSTALLED THE PROGRAM AND THIS TIME I AM ABLE TO UNINSTALL IT AS IT IS LOCATED IN THE CONTROL PANEL. I THEN UNINSTALLED THE PROGRAM AND RESTARTED THE COMPUTER AND RAN CCLEANER. NOW IT SEEMS TO BE UNINSTALLED. NO TRACES LETOTHER THEN AN EMPTY FOLDER IN THE C DRIVE.

MY INQUIRY IS:
1. WHY WASN'T I ABLE TO UNINSTALL IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
2. IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS AGAIN OCCURS WHAT SHOULD I DO?
3. THE APPROACH I HAVE TAKEN BY INSTALLING THE SAME PROGRAM AGAIN WITHOUT UNINSTALLING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, IS THIS A CORRECT THING TO DO?
DOES THIS ANY HAVE REPERCUSSIONS ON THE COMPUTER?
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I MUST DO? OR IS EVERYTHING FINE?

THESE QUESTIONS ARE FOR ME TO LEARN FROM AND KEEPING MY COMPUTER IN TOP PERFORMANCE, AS I DON'T WHAT SIGNIFICANT TRACES OF THIS GAME LURKING AROUND, SLOWING MY COMPUTER DOWN.

Answer:Uninstalling program not in control panel

Looks like you hit the nail on the head: If a program is missing an uninstall protocol the best thing to do is try reinstalling it. You got "lucky" (although in my experience, there is no such thing as luck ). And CCleaner is a good one for removing little traces left in the Registry.

I have zero idea why there was no uninstall in the first place. Welcome to the world of computers.

If it happens again and the reinstall trick doesn't work, I'd just go ahead and remove the program files and run CCleaner. The registry cleaner should be able to identify which items still have valid references to the program files.

Please help! I have purchased an Pocket Reaer-08. I am running WIN 2K SP2 on an IBM Thinkpad. I installed the drivers and was having problems getting the reader to work. When I tried to uninstall the drivers I get the message, "Uninstall.log file does not exist". It then continues with the Repair or Remove option on the wizard. I have tried this both ways and I can not get the program entirely uninstalled from the system. When I go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, I can see the program. When I highlight it and try to Change/Remove nothing happens! How can I get this out of the system?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Answer:AHHH!!!!!!! Problem uninstalling a program

Hi there!

Go into Windows Explorer
make sure that you're set to show all files and show hidden system files.

Go to C:\Program Files\Installshield installation Information\ and see which folder contains the info about the program you're trying to clean out. The folders will have a bunch of numbers and letters in them...simply open each folder and double-click on the "SETUP.INI" file and that will tell you what program it's associated with. Simply delete the appropriate folder and you should be OK.
Good Luck!

I had the simulator lock-on patched up to its latest with flaming cliffs 1.12b (1.12b required starforce activation and it asks to save the registry when you uninstall it but i have the original sf activation registry saved to reimplement it upon reinstall of the FC update) installed in my c:/program folder(x86)/ubisoft/eagle dynamics/lock on folder. After istalling a few mods the app appears to have been corrupted so i uninstalled everything, including the eagle dynamics folder and all remnants of lock on and any mod i had installed( i still have the ubisoft folder because il2 1946 is installed there)

My problem is that when i reinstall the application to the same directory ( c:/program files (x86)/ubisoft/eagle dynamcs/lock on) without any reinstall of any mod and run the game again the game appears as if i hadn't uninstalled it ( e.g., settings ive changed are back, and the corruption of the app that occured is still there) I've tried to uninstall this and reinstall multiple times to the same directory with the same thing happening. This is a typical Win7 laptop w/ Ultimate installed. Used Revo uninstaller to remove HP Essentials on the pc. It had been giving me fits and kept wanting to install from a CD whenever I started the computer. Did export copy of the registry before this, just in case. Restarted to finish the uninstall and then OS wouldn't reload. I get a screen that goes from black to blue and then black again. I can get to advance boot options but then

Getting this:

System had to terminate in an unusal way. Runtime error
C:\\windows\system32\nvvsvc.exe.

Read that this was a Nvidia driver issue. Tried to run my Window7 install CD to repair this apparent driver issue. Picked 'repair my computer' . Everything seems ok up to this point. Then I select 'load drivers' and the pc starts with the screen flashing and going from black to blue and black again. Of course, it won't load the drivers.
Have read that deleting the driver would help enough to reload the OS and restore the registry or fix the driver issue.

Help.....

Answer:Windows 7 won't load after uninstalling a program

Why would you be backing up the registry when uninstalling? The registry files should never be messed with.

Use your Windows 7 Disk once again but this time choose System Recovery and set Windows to an older date.

What?s the best way to safely uninstall a program that has only been partly installed on the pc (old version of Nero)? The only place where I see it is on ?Program Files? on C:drive. Can an uninstaller software do that? Which one? What?s the risk of deleting a folder of this program from ?Program Files?? Can it slow down the machine? Thanks.

Answer:Uninstalling partly installed program

Try with click hereDuring the un-install process you may be asked if you want to re-start your computer, DO NOT re-start at this point, let Revo continue. You will eventually get the option to Select All and to Delete - DO SO. You may be given the same options a second time, again DO SO, do not be picky, just accept all that Revo chooses. After clicking on Finish, re-start your computer.

The chances are you have malware or virus on the PC _ often thats the price for getting crack version

Avast also has a free version - so no need to use a crack version

Here are some removal tool

Uninstall Avast Utility
Sometimes it´s not possible to uninstall avast! the standard way - using the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in control panel. In this case, you can use the uninstallation utility avastclear.

g'day everyone, i'm running windows vista 32-bit and windows media player was sounding a bit bland, so i thought i should download an audio enhancer for it, i ended up downloading the trail version of DFX 8 which i was bitterly dissapointed with, all i did was start it up, try it out (it didnt even work mind you) then once i got to dissapointed i went to programs and features to uninstall it and get this error message during the "gathering required information" stage (Error 1721: There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or pakcage vendor.) now i did a quick search on this error and it seems a few people get it on windows xp and there's also a fix for that so what im wondering is whether or not that fix also works on vista, and no i'm not running a dual boot.

The only option is to go to the folder where it is installed and delete the files there then run Crap Cleaner to clear out the registry. There may a be a few DLl files left behind in the Windows\System32 folder but there is not a lot you can do about them unless you want to spend a lot of time doing some detective work.Stuart

Hi, All,

I am unable to reinstall the drivers for the Documate Scanner from Visioneer. Specifically I'm trying to remove the following:

OneTouch 4.0
OneTouch 4.0 Scansoft Omipage OCR Module

The instructions were to remove the drivers first from the Add/Remove section of the control panel. This proved to be a complete failure. Went into the regedit under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall

Could find some keys associated with Onetouch and removed them. I'm not too sure what I should do next. The Add/remove section still has these two drivers present but no button to remove them.:-o

Periodically my computer also freezes as well with a continous beep. Kindly advise. Thanks a bunch.

I have tried in vain to uninstall a trial version of a program and it has caused such a mess on my computer. First when I tried to uninstall it using the program's uninstaller I got the following error message:

"File C:\Program Files\DVD Cloner\unins000.dat does not exist. Cannot uninstall"

I went into the Control Panel's Programs and tried to uninstall it there and I got the same result. So I figured maybe if I download the latest version of the software it will fill in this missing file and then I would be able to uninstall it. Not such a good idea because now I have TWO versions on this BLEEPIN' program and BOTH throw the same error message when trying to uninstall. Now I have found an article that teaches how to manually uninstall it by deleting everything from the registry but the one I found is for XP. Does anybody know of one specifically for Vista or whether or not it even matters?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
