Preferred Solution: No bootabe device message.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: No bootabe device message.

Can you enter the bios setup menu and make sure that you have the Hard Drive Priority set to have the hard drive as the FIRST boot device?

Some new phones are doing away with the virtual HDD and switching to MTP for transferring files to/from the device. Because of this every time I want to copy MP3s to my MTP device I get a Windows message saying "Your device might not be able to
play or view this file" forcing me to click "Ignore this error" every time I start a new copy. I am VERY grateful that there is an option that says "Do this for all remaining files", but it's still really annoying because each time I start a new file copy
it pops up.
To be clear, this is not a device or driver issue. This is a windows prompt that is specifically tied to MTP devices.
Is there a registry key I can change so Windows will automatically assume the answer is "Yes, your file will be copied, but you might not be able to play or view it on your device"? Or perhaps a key where I can change the file types this prompt is
tied to?

Answer:warning message "Your device might not be able to play or view this file" when copying MP3s to MTP device

Hi,

Based on my research and test, I?m afraid that this feature is by-design. We cannot simply disable or change the feature by editing the registry.

I think you can use the transfer tool from your phone manufacturer.

Hope this helps.

I just got this error message. I haven't added any new USB devices, and I don't think any have gone bad. So, to do trouble-shooting,Is there any way to enumerate USB logical ports and the devices that are attached? I haven't added any new USB devices, and I don't think any have gone bad. So, to do trouble-shooting,

Any way to link physical USB ports with logical USB ports, for "extra credit."

Answer:"Unknown USB Device" error message - how to identify device?

Hi x509.

Not answering your questions but last time I had this I simply unplugged and reinserted each one until I found issue. One of my scanners which was powered on was giving the error. Once I determined I powered off and powered on. Worked fine so not sure why it was reporting Unknown.

Hi, Did any one receive that message on there Yoga2?

Answer:Message on black screen saying: No bootable device, please insert bootable device.

Hi Paultyk,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This message indicates that either the bootable Windows image is not working/ corrupt or the hard drive itself is bad.
Try checking the BIOS (FN + F2 on restart) if the hard drive storage is still being detected so reseating it to its place can help ensure that it is not loose on its connection.

Hope this helps answer your query.
Update us how it goes.

I was wondering if you could help me out. I used arcsoft total media 3.5 with XP with little problem. I now have an acer aspire with wndows 7. I keep getting the error message ?device is not available or is in use by another application?. I disabled all services & enabled them one by one to find that the ?power? service is the problem. If it is disabled then the video flows great but the computer sound is off so I have no audio (nor internet). I can not seem to turn on audio without the ?power? in system configuration enabled but then I have no cable. Is there a way to do that? Or what if I partition the hard drive (something I?ve never tried) & install another XP or linux will that free up the driver?
No one seems to have an answer.

Answer:error message 'device is not available'

Hello Leejoyful and Welcome to TSF,

Disabling the Power Service does indeed disable the audio function (among a few other things) aswell. This is known to microsoft, and there's not any solution for that specific issue yet, that I'm aware of/or is able to find.

However, what got me curious, is why your specific application runs better with the Power Service disabled?

You mentioned that you get the error message "Device is not available or is in use...".
When are you getting this message? Is it at the startup of the application?
When trying to access an external HDD/USB?

Hi,

Usually my computer enters sleep mode at night. When i went to move the mouse this morning to "wake it up", I got a prolonged blue screen, and then a black screen with the words "no boot device available sata 0: installed, sata 1: installed, sata 2: none, sata 3: none, sata 4: none, sata 5: none. I called dell technical support and they tried to help me repair the drive but they told me my registry was corrupted when no operating system came up in the list of operating systems to repair after i inserted the windows vista cd. then they told me that i would have to reinstall windows vista and lose everything. before i do that, anybody have any other suggestions to repair the problem and access my data? i am using a dell studio slim operating a windows vista 64 bit operating system.
thanks so much!

Answer:No Boot device available message

You can recover your data. Download Fedora Linux 14. Burn the iso image file into a CD. Boot it and it will show all your hard drives on the desktop. Navigate to your data and copy them off to a USB memory stick.

Hi,

I have Windows XP Pro SP2. I just ran Ccleaner, Dial-A-Fix to flush DNS and Process Idle Tasks, ran RegSeeker (deleted only the green files and cleared stream mru's), ran PC onPoint, emptied Prefetch, and defragged my C drive. When I rebooted, I received a message that said:

Windows was unable to save data for the file \Device\HardwareVolume3\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.Click to expand...

I don't have a network connection. I have 2 internal hdds and I had 1 external hdd turned on at the time. All 3 hdds seem to be working fine, with no lost data that I can see right now. Is there something that I can check or fix?

Denise

Answer:\Device\HardwareVolume3\$Mft Message

Whenever I have something unusual happen and have just used a registry cleaner, I go into the reg cleaner backups and add them back to the registry. Just in case I may have deleted something I shouldn't have.

Just a suggestion.

Hello All
I installed Ubuntu side by side to my win 7. On the install it would only
install to an external drive I have. After the install completed an I restarted
my computer and I got an error message=
" error: no such devive: 868152e-2012-469b-b469-ebc2c953dfb4.
grub resue>"
I restarted my computer a few times and kept getting the same message.
I decided to restore my computer back to factory defaults. After doing this
I restarted my computer but kept getting the same message.

Could someone help me with this problem ?

Thanks

Answer:No such device error message

Grub has taken over your boot and decided that it won't function without the external present which it is apparently having trouble with.
My advice is to remove grub and restore win 7.

...it's a bit of a process but fortunately a user wrote a guide here for doing it.

OK..so I have an AThlon 939 3500 plus computer running XP home with SP2 it has been working fine for a long time. all of a sudden a warning keeps flashing on my computer that the USB be drive is not recognized. Well I had nothing in the USB slots. To compound the issue when I put in my external HD it works fine. So now my computer is just flashing this USB error over and over. What can I do to fix this? Do I have to get the thing serviced? I really dont want to format my HD, but I wonder if that would do anything anyway.

It's a major pain right now any help would be huge!

Hello.  I am attempting to use Message Analyzer to troubleshoot a USB device.  I know the device's VID and PID.  I've also installed Message Analyzer on multiple PCs.  One some PCs I can see traffic from the device (I can see the VID
and PID appear) but on others I can't.  Any thoughts on why Message Analyzer can see my USB device on some PCs but not others?  I am using up-to-date chipset and USB drivers, so that shouldn't be the problem.  All PCs are Win 7 Pro SP1 64-bit.
Thanks!

The problem occurred as I was downloading a Windows update.  Power ran out on the laptop while downloading.  I can't think of how to proceed from here, does anyone have any ideas?

Answer:"No bootable device. Hit any key." message at star...

You can check out this website or google or youtube and Acer has a whole bunch of videos that show you the different ways to get your computer going again. You didn't say which computer you have or which operating system. Some of the methods to fix your computer are non-destructive (you won't lose anything), while others are destructive.  So you'd probably want to start with the non-destructive methods first. Just google "Acer recovery". You can start by trying the advanced options and look for the method that allows you to use a system restore point (assuming you had system restore enabled on your computer). http://acer--uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35231/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDMzNjI5ODE0L3NpZ... Edit: The procedure is slightly different depending on whether you have a desktop or a laptop, so you might have to do a little googling to find the method that is appropriate for your computer or operating system.

An AntiSpy program messed up my sound, now I get "No Audio Output Device" installed. I'm running Vista Home Premium on a Dell E521 desktop. The audio is integrated (SigmaTel Hi Definition 6.10.0.5343). I've removed the offending program, I've uninstalled/re-installed the driver, I've downloaded & installed the driver from the company, (the Device Manager says the driver is working fine), I've checked the Bios and the audio is ON, I've installed the latest MS Updates for Vista (including KB 929685 that was a 'cure'), I went into MS config and made sure that Windows Audio is ON. I've even put it into "Sleep" mode for an hour as someone suggested as a miracle cure.
Nothing Works!! I don't think the card is broken b/c the computer is only 3 months old!

When I plug it into the PC I get a lil' yellow systray balloon saying 'USB Device Not Recognised: It has malfunctioned...' or something like that. Well I've been told I need to format it using the HP format tool, but the device doesn't show up there cause it isnt a drive in My Computer.

My question is this: Is there a way to force the unknown iPod device to be recognised as a drive in My Computer or another way to get this tool to see it? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Since getting a Ei 308 computer running win Vista home premium I have had no sound coming out of the speakers used on my old win XP computer. The speaker icon next to the clock has a red circle with a cross inside and when I float the mouse pointer over it states that I have no Audio Output Device Installed. Help please.

Answer:No audio device is installed message

First thing is to check in the bios to make sure the onboard sound is enabled. To enter the bios you mustpress a key (such as F2, F12, DEL, ESC) or a key combination immediately after you turn on your computer(or you can restart it) but before windows loads. If you are quick, you can see what button to press to enter set up when the pc is booting up.If not just tap a key a few times whilst booting.Onboard sound should be something like ac 97 audio or similar.

Answer:I/O Device error message on DVD ram drive

Hi

Sorry but I don?t know which notebook you have (xxx-S203) but I just can tell you that ?DMA if available? is standard setting for all Toshiba notebooks. On this way it is not easy to give you a proper answer but if the drive can not read original CDs or DVDs I assume that there is hardware malfunction and the drive must be replaced.

I have an MSI K8MM3-V x64 AMD motherboard with a 3200 MHz processor, 2 GB's of RAM, a 256 MB NVidia GeForce 7600 graphics card, A Creative Labs Audigy SE sound card and a Coolmax 550 watt power supply.

The board I am using is refurbished. I had to send one back because of some bad PCI slots, before that, the first MSI motherboard, which was new, didn't even boot up. Now they've sent me this replacement and twice now I've gotten an error message after the desktop comes up concerning a USB device that is not recognized.

I did not get this message on my previous MSI board, and the MSI techs, God Bless em', said they don't think I should worry about it. Brillant eh?

By the way, I am running Vista x64 and all of the three USB devices that I am running, a printer, a scanner and a webcam, all work fine. And everything looks good in device manager.

When I was running XP x64, an unknown device was always showing in device manager and I never could figure out what that was or what to do about it.

On this error message, which I have attached, it says "One of the USB devices attached to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it". It then shows in the main window that it's a USB Root Hub (2 ports) and includes an unused port and an unknown device.

Then at the bottom it says "Recommendation: Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognize it, try replacing the device.

I'm wondering if a BIOS ... Read more

Here goes. My internet was slowing down and not responding. I shut the computer down and when I turned it on yesterday morning, it let me know that there is no bootable device. When I hit any key, the boot manager gives me no boot options. I read on other posts that switching boot mode from UEFI to legacy solved the problem. However, my Lenovo 2 will not make that change at all. Ive tried multiple times. Ive also tried playing around with enabling and disabling the fast/usb boot settings, but that has not made a difference. Secure boot is now enabled.I do not have media to install.Yesterday I managed to get it to work fine a couple of times after turning it off and on. However, the second time, I left the computer on, walked away for a few hours and then came back to see the no boot message.Ive had a run of bad luck with computers lately. My primary goal is to get the files off the hard drive. I dont mind restoring it to factory settings after getting those files.Any help is greatly appreciated.SL

I've gotten a boot device not found please install an operating system on your hard disk hard disk (3FO) message--any suggestions on how to resolve?

Answer:Boot device not found message

Hi, Try the following first. Shutdown the notebook. Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery ( assuming you don't have a sealed unit ).  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. If the above doesn't help, run a diagnostic on the HDD as follows. Shutdown the notebook.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Diagnostic Menu option ( f2 ) and run the tests on the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the results, including any error codes that may be generated. Can you also post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your Envy notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information. Regards, DP-K

USB device not recognized:
One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance ...... etc.
This message keeps flashing like a neon sign and won't stop.

The other problem is ... there is nothing hooked up to the usb's on my computer.

I was using a USB driverless Data Transfer cable between two of my computers. Got out of my chair and tripped over the cord, jerking it out of the usb connection in my main computer while the program was running.

I know ... clumsy ... stupid ... I've told all of these things to myself already.

My wireless mouse stopped working (usb connected) so I am now using a ps2 mouse.:cry

Device Mgr says all my usb ports are enabled & working properly.
I have six USB's on the back of my computer
and two in the front, one of the front is where it was jerked out of.

I'm sure whoever has any advice will want more details and I will provide them.

Does it come out and allow for a floppy drive to be inserted? (sorry not that familiar with the IBM laptops). If so, is the floppy drive being recognized?

My Epson Printer stopped working this morning quite suddenly following a slight paper jam because of an untidy desk. It is passing paper through but not printing anything.

I am using Windows 7 only fairly recently (about 2 months ago) installed on a new computer. We successfully linked the Printer to it and it has been working fine. My husband has just linked the printers to a home network only just set up (only for 2 computers used by 2 people, him and me). Could that be the problem.

The web seems to be saying the driver is the problem and it needs updating but site also suggested this could be an indication of more serious problems.

I have submitted another request for help in getting rid of WebCake on this site. Could that also be linked to this problem > I had trouble downloading Hijack when I tried.

Would be grateful for advice. Should this only be 1 query or is the Epson thing a fairly straight forward question of updating a driver ?

Very grateful for any suggestions, not least best way of going about asking for help.

Hi everyone

My computer has started hanging straight after booting up, the screen freezes and neither mouse or keyboard will respond. The only way to get out is to turn of the computer. After a couple of tries it sometimes works ok for a few minutes then goes into an error message saying 'failure write device AUX Abort,Retry,Fail,Ignore'

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it a software or a hardware problem?
Will totally resetting the hard drive cure it?

Thanks

Answer:Failure write device AUX message

Check in Setup HD config, if Ok, try booting from a floppy, if nothing happens, the most probalble is a IDE interface failure or a HD failure; in this case formatting the HD won't be helpful

When I try to open the drive from my computer it says it cannot be performed because of an I/O device error.

Any suggestions?

Laptop or desktop? If a laptop got a similar model you can move the cd drive to (to check).

I suspect your dvd/cd has bit the dust. The basics would be to move the drive to another computer and see if the problem moves.

Or just spend 50 or so bucks and buy another one

System details.

Answer:Portege R600-140: message says: device would work better with USB 2.0

The notebook supports definitely the USB 2.0 ports.
I guess this message could appear due to different reasons: for example USB device malfunction.
Also the USB port problem could be responsible for such error message.

Therefore as first workaround I recommend you to remove the USB hubs and controllers from device manager list.
Open device manager, search for USB hubs and controllers and uninstall the driver.
Then reboot the notebook

Usually system will start to recognize the USB devices.

Note: during this procedure all external USB devices should be disconencted

Answer:Satellite C50 - No Bootable Device Message after update

Hi

I?m afraid the HDD is faulty and therefore the notebook isn?t able to boot the system.
You could check this within the BIOS.
Press F2 while powering on the unit. Now on the first BIOS page you should see the ODD details (optical disk drive) as well as the HDD details (in case the HDD isn?t faulty).

In case the HDD isn?t listed there, the HDD cannot be recognized by BIOS and needs to be replaced.

Answer:Good, my PC gives this message all of a sudden. Boot device ...

Hi,              Restart the laptop by tapping F2 key and it will launch a diagnostic screen, run a Hard disk drive test and check if that passes or not.  3F0 can be caused by 3 things 1. Bad hard drive or partition structure, erase the entire hard drive then use HP recovery discs to attempt reinstall of the OS and all partitions. 2. Bad hard drive data cable that connects it to the motherboard, replace the cable 3. Bad sata controller on the motherboard replaces the motherboard or laptop.  Or follow the steps listed in the below thread http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Re-quot-Hard-Disk-3F0-BootDevic...

Hi all,

After using the computer for sometime, the mouse icon freezes and I get a message 'USB device unrecognized'. Mind that I did not install anything before that happens to warrant that message.

Would appreciate ideas to resolve this problem.

Answer:Mouse freezes and message is 'USB device unrecognized'

Initial thoughts are that either the mouse is failing (assuming it's USB connected) or the USB port is failing. Or a mouse cable fault.

The simple way to determine this is try another mouse.

Not sure if that could be a problem with a sound driver? Sorry for more info. Just want to be as detailed as I can in hopes of finding the correct problem, correct solution. I also purchased it in January of this year so can we rule out the hard drive dying already? Thank you.

Hi,

I have been getting the error messages "USB device not recognized" from Windows Vista.
It keeps on repeating itself sporadically.
The problem is that I do not have any USB device attach or plug to my computer.

It happens to sometimes plugged my USB Flash key device to drop some documents on my hard drive but I immediately unplugged the device after the task is done.

I used to have a Lexmark 1290 printer plug to my computer but since it was not working fine on Vista I have decided to unplug it and delete the peripheral in my printer manager.

I have installed the latest Windows Vista Update, BIOS update, and all possible drivers but I still having the messages.

Does anyone have a idea of what could be my problem?

Thanks

Answer:Vista message appears - USB Device not recognized

Hi aladino00,

It would be interesting to know which notebook you have and if you run factory settings (preinstalled OS from Toshiba) or not.
Can you add these informations, please?

To be honest I also don?t know why you get this error message but can you please try to remove all USB ports from device manager and restart the notebook?

I purcahsed this laptop 8 days ago I only started using it 4 days ago and already I have an issue. I chose the option to do a windows update and restart, upon the restart I get a " No bootable Device" so I enter BIOS to check the boot device the only hdd in the system is listed as the first boot device I saved and restart. Again I get the message no boot device so I restart and push f12 to access the boot menu however there are no drives to select to boot from. I access the bios again and enable the d2d option to do a recovery from the partion when I restart I hold down alt and push f10 to start the recovery however all I get is the no boot device message. Does anyone have any suggestions? I purchased ACER against my better judgement  as the tech person informed me that ACER had picked up their act and were now a reputable brand. I said they were not 5 years ago when I worked in the IT industry but he assured me that was no longer the case, moral of the story it seems ACER is still a crap brand. I have contact ACER support I am still waiting on an answer. I purchased the laptop in Australia but have travel to Thailand for 2 months on holiday so I expect them to throw all types of roablocks in my path in my attempt to try and have this issue resolved.  Any suggestion appreciated.Cheers

Saved and exited still received the no boot device message.3. reset Bios to defaults saved and rrestarted ( same error no bootable device )4. Restarted and pushed f12 to access the boot menu ( Hdd was not listed  -  no devices listed in the boot menu )5. Restarted and held down alt and pushed f10 to tried recover from the recovery partition that was after checking to see the d2d option was enable in the bios. Got a message that recovery was not possible.6. Tried select legacy instead of uefi int he bios ( same result no bootable device message)7. Tried removing power and letting laptop drain of charge then I plug back into power and restarted with the same no bootable device message.8. I then booted from a usb that I had a copy of windows 10 installed on I got to the point where you select the disk to install to I got the message unable to install on this disk as the slected disk is of the gpt partition style.9. I then looked up this error and watch a youtube video regarding using diskpart with the clean option which wiped  the entire disk including the recovery partition. I was then able to install the copy of Windows 10 I had on the usb to the hdd. I Logged onto acer id portal  and downloaded all of the drivers for the laptop. Acer support is useless they respon... Try this to check thast the Hdd is seen in the bios. If it is not seen then your hdd may be screwed
To access the bios try either of these keys.

(Hewlett-Packard) F1, or F2

cannot find device file that may be needed to run windows or a windows application.
the windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists.
if you deleted this file on purpose, try unstalling the associated application using its uninstall or setup program.
if you still want to use the application associated with this device file try reinstalling that application to replace missing file.

Answer:"boot device not found" message after I replaced the hdd

Hello @mrskinny, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Hard Drive, and wanted to assist you!  I see that you replaced the Hard Drive, without a way to install the Operating System. If you did not create Recovery Media before replacing the Hard Drive, you will need Recovery Media in order to resolve the issue.  Since there is no Operating System on the Hard Drive, 32/64 bit should not matter for the Recovery Media.  You can find Recovery Media for your product here: DVD - Windows 8.1 (Dual Language) 64b Recovery Kit Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

Everytime I logon to my computer which is running Windows 2000 I get the following message16-bit MS-DOS SubsystemSystem\currentcontrolset\control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD. Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid. Choose 'close' to terminate the applicationFrom the research that I have done to resolve the problem you need to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers\VDDOn the edit menu, click DeleteOn the Edit menu, click Add ValueType VDD in the Value Name box, click REG_MULTI_SZ for the Data Type and then click OKThe Multi-String Editor appears. Leave this entry blank and click ok Quit Registry EditorI have gone this this step and created a new VDD key but I do not see the REG_MULTI_SZ entry so cannot select it. I have tried the three diffent values (String, binary and DWORD) but none of these seem to work. I have also deleted and created the whole VirtualDeviceDrivers registry key. Any advice on how I can stop this message appearing would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

Everytime I switch on my laptop I get a device driver installation complete window that pops up. There is no tick box to click to say do not show me this message again. I know it isn't causing any detriment to the laptop but it is annoying and shouldn't happen. Does anybody know how to stop it. Thanks

Answer:device driver installation complete message

Check Device Manager, enable "show hidden devices" and report any yellow flagged devices. It sounds like it's actually NOT installing the driver properly, and it would be a good idea to find out exactly what the device is.

My first guess would be some kind of USB device. You might try unplugging them all and see if it goes away. Also, disabling any unused hardware in BIOS (such as parallel ports, serial ports, etc...) is always a good idea.

Hi!

I have a problem with drivers for USB 2.0 in my Satellite Pro A60 PL. Everytime when I connect USB 2.0 device theres apear message that this device can work faster. What can I do to fix it?

Answer:Satellite Pro A60 PL: message: USB device can work faster

Normally this message appears when connecting USB2.0 devices to USB1.1 ports, but your notebook seems to have the latest standard USB2.0 ports.

I assume you are using Windows XP. Have you installed service pack 2 and regular windows updates?

Hi there

I have a workaround for this problem which ocassionally happens. It is just to reconnect the USB hub(as recommended by Windows). I was just wondering if someone knows why this happens and how to fix it. The error is :--

"USB device not recognised. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognise it.

USB Roob Hub (2 ports) - Unused Port, Unknown Device.

Recommendation: try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognise it, replace the device. "

I look forward to hearing back from you.
Kind regards
Julia.

Answer:Libretto - USB Device Not Recognised error message

Hello Julia

It is always advantageous to mention which model you have exactly. Obviously the external device is not recognized correctly. Check if there is some driver that must be installed before you can use it properly.

My HP Pavilion dv5 recently crashed and i was told by a cpu tech that it was a blown hard drive. I got a brand new one and have a hp recovery disk but i get a black screen saying no bootable device insert boot disk. What do I have to do to get this thing running again? I already went into startup options and requested to boot from DVD drive, but still nothing. Any ideas?

Answer:New Hard drive - No bootable device message

Go into the bios settings and check the boot order... DVD should be set as first device; hard drive to be second.Once you have it all up and running I suggest you leave the boot order DVD first then hard drive; as that way if/whenever you need to boot from a CD/DVD it will happen automatically when the CD/DVD disk is detected...Incidentally do you still have the olde drive? What happened when it "crashed"; what were the symptoms etc. and what was going on immediately prior?

Until I moved, I never had issues with XP & my Akai MPD16 Midi Controller. When I moved XP would prompt me to insert the disk for the MPD16. Now there are still error messages but XP is not letting me uninstall the software (so I can reinstall it).

I'm getting a Micorsoft boot configuration error on my daughter's 2-in-1.  She has backed it up to an external drive, but I can't get it to a point where I can do a restore.  At this point, we'd be willing to do a factory reset, but I have not been able to locate the information I need to perform it.
At this point, suggestions would be awesome.
Thanks,
Shannon

Help!  One of my youth has been using a Dell E6420 i5 8G CPU 2.60 GHz.  This computer was donated by a company in the USA where they were replacing their computers.  They handled wiping and reloading Win 7 Pro.  The computer has a Win 7 Pro product Key and had been working great since I received it in January 2017.  About 1 wk ago when the youth turned on the computer he got a message in the bottom right hand corner saying:
Windows 7Build 7601This copy of Windows is not genuine
He indicated that he could still use the computer to view study files, etc, however it was very slow.I have the computer now to try to solve the issue.  Currently when I turn on the computer the message I get is:

PXE-E62: Media test failure, check cablePXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent
No Boot Device Found. Press any key to reboot the machine.
I have powered it off and when restarting it I pressed F8 to try to get into Safe Mode.  Regardless of whether I go into Safe Mode or Safe Mode with networking it loads a bunch of lines such as:
Loaded: \windowns\System32\drivers\.....   BUT then it stops and at the bottom it says:
Please wait...      and doesn't seem to do anything after this.
I don't know what is going on and what to do.  Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Janet

Answer:Not genuine message & now no boot device found

Sounds like the hard drive failed.  Check system setup (F2 at powerup) -- if there's no hard drive listed, power off, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.
Remove and reinstall the hard drive.
If you still don't see it, it's toast - replace with a new 2.5" SATA notebook drive, 9.5 mm or slimmer.
If it IS then seen, run an extended diagnostic  on it -- if it fails, replace as above.  If it passes, reload Windows.

Just an FYI.. I received this on two machines yesterday evening. MS should word it better, or something. In a nutshell it just means Windows hasn't auto checked/installed the latest updates yet. I manually checked, and everything went well, and all was fine after.

my os is win xp.  i had to reformat recently, and now the error message that pops up says:There are no active mixer devices available.  To install mixer devices go to control panel, click add printers/new hardware, add hardware. The problem is that i've tried to reinstall the drivers, and i can't get it to work.  when i've looked at the device manager, the icon next to the video/sound area is a yellow question mark.  also, when i've asked windows to find the hardware and install the drivers, it says that it can't.  perhaps i'm doing something wrong, so does anyone have any tips?  could i get someone to map out what i'm supposed to do to fix this problem?also, (this is a dumb question probably) but could it be that my card is just broken?  the computer is about 4 years old...

Answer:audio device not found error message
