I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey guys, I have a Question, is it just because my PC is old or can I make it play AT Least a 720HD Smoothly?

First of all here is what my PC is. It's a Dell Inspiron 531 Running Windows 7 I have 4GB-RAM and a 500GB-HDD AMD Sempron Processor "It's OEM Still" and it uses the Nvidia Nforce

I have a Good internet Connection of 100Mbps "so it is relatively fast" All the other PC's can play 1080 No problem. I have actually had this issue for quite some time now I just never really thought about trying to see if it is Fixable. Well anyways the issue is that no matter what Browser I use I cannot make a YouTube video play smoothly AT ALL even in 480 it will a little laggy the first 4 seconds or so. Now If I even think about trying 720 or 1080 it will just play a little bit stop the audio will keep going then the video will kinda play stop again just it's Effing annoying even in 480 it does this crap just not near as bad it's "Watchable' lets put it that way... When it's in 480. I have Updated java, Updated Abode Changed Browsers, I have went into "Computer --> Properties --> Advanced System Settings --> then went to advanced --> advanced again changed the RAM to max which is 8192... I've got a Compaq 7770DMT running Windows98, with 233Ghz (Pentium 1), and 64MB RAM. I bought it used about two years ago, and had very few problems. Within the last month, though, I noticed it getting very slow when running anything as simple as Internet Explorer or moving files, and games and videos played like slide shows, out of sync with the audio (which still played fine).

I did a clean reinstall of Windows98, thinking that would solve my problems. It solved all but the one I wanted to solve the most, the video/games problem.

The laptop is running as smooth and fast as ever, with a few less freezes/lock ups. But the video playback is still choppy, slow, and slideshow-ish. It used to be able to run whole 600 MB movies without trouble, but now anything bigger than a 3 minute clip plays like crap. And my Windows games don't play as quickly as before (but DOS games run fine).

I'm thinking this is either a video card problem, or RAM problem. I can buy and replace the RAM memory cards myself easily, but if it's the video card that's fried, then I'm just going to save up for a new laptop (too much trouble to buy the part(s), pay for installation AND find a place that can do it just for a laptop that can't do much in the first place).

NOTE: Laptop has always run much better with hardware acceleration OFF. I've had hardware acceleration off for as long as I can remember on that thing. With it on, the problem is worse.

Any ideas, suggestions, comments, etc appreciat... Read more

I've got a Toshiba Satellite T130-13L running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, 4gb Ram, Genuine Intel(R) CPU U4100 @ 1.30GHz 1.30GHz

Graphics: Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile

The problem I have is that videos I have downloaded from online and saved to either my C or D drive will not play smoothly on any media player I try (using latest versions of VLC and Windows Media Player, with most up to date codecs available), it will play for a few seconds, then stop, then play again. Almost as if I was buffering an online video. Yet, when I copy the exact same file onto my Corsair 16gb USB stick, or my Weternal Digital Elements 1TB external hard drive, the video plays fine.

Really stuck here, I have tried looking everywhere for help. Does anyone have any ideas as to what to do?

Thanks

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 with 256mb of ram, Pentium 4.

For the last 3 months youtube videos have been jerky, no matter what i do! I've uninstalled/reinstalled Flash Player 10. Cleaned all the unnecessary files from the laptop, (laptop is faster now) even got rid of all the profiles except one just to free up room but nothing works! No matter what i try they still jump! It's the same in Mozilla, IE7 and Chrome. When i download them to desktop they play fine with VLC player.

I'm at my wits end, a lower grade laptop, a patriot with a celeron processer runs them fine so it's not the internet connection. I've done a virus and spyware scan but ALL to no use. It's really annoying me

Has anyone any ideas as to what the problem is before i smash it up altogether??
Cheers.

I got the Lenovo update today and hoped that it would address the video issue. For those of you that are not familiar with the issue, the Yoga 3 will not smoothly play a video. For instance, I tried to play a movie from Netflix and it was a frame-by-frame issue: the video was not smooth and impossible to watch. The audit was smooth but the video jerked the whole time. I was hoping the wyould have addressed this since this is their high-end laptop and it's reasonable to assume users would like to watch videos on their Yoga. Given the horrible response time from Lenovo to issues, I expect this issue will not be addressed for months and months. They are pretty much silent on any technical issues. I'm going to search out any sites where I can make note of this issue so other unsuspecting buyers do not make the same $1,400 mistake I did. Not being able to play a video from Netflix is insulting.

I have been shopping for a newer notebook/netbook for a couple months and am amazed at how difficult it is to get straight answers! one would think that, here at the tail end of the lifecycle of all things notebook and desktop, that all that can be known would be known, cataglogued, googlable, etc... no mysteries.
alas, not so.

anyway, some combination of fast processor + probably Radeon Graphics should be able to output Vid/Audio via HDMI to a big screen [52"] plama, lcd, led, whatever, and run movies/mkv's, etc smoothly... you know, kinda like my dirt cheap sony bdpn460 does [so cheap it was free to me].

what are some good choices?
on another forum, some guy opined that one would have to, at minimum, get a unit that has :
"AMD Athlon II/Pentium Dual-Core P OR B/AMD Phenom II based: ~50-55W Total TDP
AMD E-series based: ~30W Total TDP
AMD C-series based: ~20W Total TDP"

I admit I don't really understand how to use this info... searching sorta scattergun fashion for an "E-Series" laptop is a waste of time .. the terminology is not widely used it seems. Can someone translate?

Answer:Notebook that can handle 1080P smoothly, big screen

The Intel IX chips have integrated Graphics that will play HD (not sure of the top of my head whether they will do 1080P though), so any laptop with an HDMI socket and BD drive will do HD of some form.

Hi, I have an IdeaPad Y710 - Intel Core2Duo T8100 (Centrino NOT Centrino2), 2.1 GHz, 512 MB ATI Radeon HD2600 Graphics card, 2 GB DDR2 RAM, 17" 1920 1200 display. When I try playing a 1080p resolution movie, it does not run smoothly and misses frames, especially when there is scene with many details (like a top-view shot, or a big setup). I tried changing the processor speed to TURBO as well, but it does not work. 720p movie runs nicely. I use VLC player to play the files. Is it because I have low (2 GB DDR2) RAM? or is it may be due to Centrino and not Centrino2? or any other reason? Please advise.

Someone please help me diagnose the problem.

My system "sticks" when watching video. Meaning, it's as if watching video with not enough "frames per second" to make it a smooth picture. But this doesn't happen all the time.

This happens when I watch "LiveTV" on my PC as part of my cable service. Not a smooth picture. Certain videos on YouTube will be choppy. And the system in general, seems to "stick". For example, flash ads on websites don't appear smooth.

However, certain things work well, particularly Netflix. When I watch Netflix, the picture is perfect, just as if I'm watching on my HD television.

I thought it might be my broadband, but I just upgraded to Time Warner Extreme Speed (30 Mbps) and yet its still a choppy picture.

The system is fairly new too. Less than 6 months. Is it my specs? My video card? Flash player? If someone can help me diagnose and help solve problem, that would be fantastic.

Just let me know what info. you need from me:

Here's the specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium
x64
AMD A8-3800 with Radeon HD Graphics, 2400 Mhz
6 GB Memory
Lenovo H415 Desktop
AMD Radeon HD 6550D

Answer:i cant play h264 movies smoothly plz plz plz help.

Here is an answer given for your problem :It was obtained from this source"http://www.codecguide.com/faq_playback_issues.htmQ:   The CPU usage is very high during video playback, any tips on how I can lower it?A:   Video playback can require a lot of processing power, certainly when the video has a high resolution (720p/1080p/1080i). Some video formats, such as H.264, are very complex to decode. Some tips to lower the CPU usage are:Use a more efficient decoder (if any exists). For H.264 video some fast decoders are mentioned further down below.Enable the "Pre-buffer subpictures" option in the DirectVobSub subtitle filter. That lowers CPU usage a bit. Animated subtitles (such as found in some anime videos) may not display correctly with this option enabled, but such subtitles are very rare.Disable the display of subtitles.Disable resizing, and also any other post-processing filters that you might have enabled in ffdshow. If you have forced ffdshow to always output RGB32, then allow it output in the YV12 and YUY2 colorspaces.Use the Overlay Mixer renderer. This video renderer uses a bit less CPU cycles than other renderers.Don't play the video full screen. That leads to resizing.Close other programs that are also running on your computer that use a lot of CPU cycles. For example P2P programs. For H.264 video, you could enable the skip deblocking option in ffdshow. You can find that option on the Codecs page in ffdshow video decoder... Read more

I visit YouTube regularly, and I've noticed that some videos play smoothly from start to finish, but others don't, they stop and start all the way through. I don't think the data is coming in fast enough. It can't be my connection speed, if it was, then all the videos wouldn't play smoothly. The only solution's I've found is to either pause the video and let it buffer for a while and then let it play, or watch it in high quality (if available). For some strange reason they buffer better in high quality than in standard quality. But even some of the high quality versions don't buffer fast enough, besides my web computer can't really handle the videos in high quality, the CPU is only 700 MHz so the high quality vids often play quite jerky. My modem speed is 2Mbps, would a faster modem fix this, or is You Tube's server just too slow? Could it be that so many people are watching the video, the server just cant cope? If it is, maybe that's why the high quality versions buffer faster, because not so many people are watching in high quality. B.T.W. Last time I did a tested my modem speed I noticed it's upload speed was about 10 times slower than the download speed, so is there somthing wrong with my modem or my computer?

Answer:Some Youtube Videos Don't Play Smoothly

The problem is at Youtube's end. It's better than it used to be but still inconsistent. Pausing the video until it loads is a pretty good solution. I'll do that sometimes if I don't think it's loading quickly enough.

I have a DiVX-AVI that plays very smoothly, but when I try to convert it to a DVD MPEG-2 with TMPGENC, the output falters a little bit. I've noticed that when encoding, the preview in TMPGEnc also stops for a half a second every second or so. Are these two things related? As parameters in TMPGENC, I used the parameters I found in several guides on the net, so I don't think that's the problem? Anyone have any ideas??

Hi everyone,

I have laptop with both an HDD and SSD. My SSD works fine with no problems: that is, when I play videos on it, they play smoothly. However, on my HDD, they'll play, but then they'll freeze randomly for 2-5 seconds and then continue playing. This occurs on all of my video playing applications (such as VLC or Movies & TV), and I don't understand why.

I had this problem previously, but it appeared to be fixed when I turned Link State Power Management off both in my OS and Intel Rapid Storage Technology settings. The issue also affects music playback. It has also affected some games from running properly, but I have yet to test those again.

Any ideas as to why this is occurring? Do you suggest any diagnostic or benchmarking programs?
Thanks!

Answer:Recommend a graphics card to play blu ray videos smoothly

Pretty much any modern card can do this. I would suggest the GeForce GT 220 or if you want to go cheaper, the G210. On the ATI side, I would suggest either a Radeon HD 5570 or 5450. They should all be able to accelerate M2TS video without any issues. On the plus side, Nvidia can also accelerate WMV, in case you make any use of it.

I already made a topic earlier for advice on a graphics card, but I return to you now with a new request. I seek similar advice, but now l have an enlarged budget, of about 100-300 dollars.

I will list the link of my last topic, which will include all my 'stats': http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic153212-2.html

I want to upgrade my computer enough so that it can play the campaign/battles in Empire: Total war smoothly, and even with a little power left over or more.

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/analysis.aspx

This is the site I went to to check, and apparentely my computer can't run Empire: Total War. What would I need to not only play the camapign in Empire: Total War smoothly, but also to play the battles smoothly? Which PSU/graphics card would I need? Within my budget, are there other parts of my computer necessary to upgade, such as RAM, or maybe even the motherboard?

Particularly, can and should I upgrade my Hard drive (which is lacking at a mere 100GB), and how much? 250GB?

Thank you.

Answer:Computer newb looking to upgrade to play Empire: Total War smoothly

Ok $300 can almost get you a new system. However, if you change the motherboard, you will have to re-install Windows; do you have a copy of Windows or will you need to buy one?

Answer:Can a HP Pavilion p6310y be pimped to play the latest games smoothly?

Here are the suggested specs for both games. Your motherboard is going to struggle with that Doom 2016 game. Looks like your motherboard also doesnt support the Phenom II x6, and your stuck with a maximum of a Phenom II x4. This could fall short of the requirements to play the game smoothly.   Looks like your going to need to build a new computer or if looking to cut corners in price of a new system, recycle the old computer guts into the new build. Reuse the case, RAM if it is in fact DDR3, and drives. Buy new 500 watt power supply, motherboard, CPU, GTX 670 or better video card, *Plus Microsoft wants you to buy a new copy of Windows because they pair up the licensing with the original Motherboard/CPU. So your "suppose" to buy a new license to use the OS that your old system has on it already. What does your budget look like, maybe you can keep the old system alive without gutting it for parts and just build a new system or buy a new system?Additionally if you want to test the game requirements you could buy the games and test them on what you have now. I have done this before and found out that games that call for a Quadcore 2.5Ghz CPU for example actually play ok on a Pentium E5400 2.7Ghz Dual-Core. I am trying to get my home theater system to play Blu-Ray disks via my HTPC (Home Theater PC) I have just upgraded the ATI drivers for the video card and I still have two issues. First when I play a BRD via PowerDVD Ultra V7.3 the program opens Ok but when I put in a BRD I get a message saying the color scheme is being changed to Windows basic. The BRD plays fine on the PC but on the video display the PowerDVD interface comes up but the picture area is black, no movie, nothing. The cloned PC display showes just fine on the 1080p video display.

The other issue is the desktop freezing ...kind of. If the system sits idle for a while the display freezes, but the system is still working OK, it's as if I took a screen capture and set it as a background. The mouse moves but nothing is clickable. To get out of the I have to do a Ctrl, Alt, Delete and when the window opens close it and all is well till the system sits for a will and it's the same thing.
Computer system:

Intel 6600 2.40 GHz

2 GB memory

Video card ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 GB of memory

Video Display:

Sony VPL-VW40 1080p connected to the PC via HDMI

Thanks,

Recently bought this, figured it was a good deal due to good brand name, reasonable portability, fair price, and excellent styling. However, it seems kind of slow so far and I am kind of disappointed. 1080p is very choppy, although 720p runs pretty well. I tried to watch a basketball game on nba.com and all I got was chop chop chop chop even though it runs fine on my home PC. I know that this PC doesn't have a top of the line processor, but I thought that it'd at least be reasonable speed and be able to play full HD movies and the like. I'm not using it to play games. My buddy who bought the same one said he streamed 1080p "flawlessly" so I'm really confused.

Anything I can do to overclock the machine a little? Am I doomed? Or is there something else going on that I'm not aware of? Thank you.

I dont play games too much but Ive recently started playing CSS much more than CS and my laptop can't keep it going smoothly for more than 10 mins(fps drop to 15fps I dont know why but nothing I do seems to work). The desktop I have at my house is a weak Sony 1.8ghz P4 with only AGP 4x support.

Anyways I would like to build a cost effective Single Core system that would be able to handle CSS at a constant 60+ fps. Earlier I was looking at a few motherboards and this is what I came up with.

Either a ASUS P5GD2 or Abit AW8-MAX motherboard
Pentium 4 640 3.2ghz overclocked to 4.0ghz
FSB overclocked to 1066Mhz
256mb PCI-E Video card (unsure which yet)
1GB 667 DDR2 (upgrade to 2GB eventually)

I have heard good things about Athlon 64's as well but I don't know too much about them. Would a overclocked Athlon 64 4000+ at 3.0ghz would be better than the 4.0ghz P4? Also what would be a good motherboard to go with the Athlon?

Please let me know if this is overkill for what I'm trying to accomplish. Should I just try to upgrade my 1.8ghz P4 machine? And please make your own recommendations for me as well Thanks

Answer:Help me build a cost effective computer to play CounterStrike Source smoothly

First Memory is Cheap and getting cheaper. Just saw @G of OCZ going for about 60 bucks.
2nd you might want to consider the core duo 4300 or 6300. While they cost more than the P4 ( I see newegg has it for about 81.00. The chip is not something to skimp on. These two chips are replacing the Pentium D(not REAL dual core) as a budget overclocker. Also eyeball the gigabyte DS3 board.

I have been a dell customer for last 12 years or so.  Last month I thought I would give ThinkPad a try.Bought a W520 laptop with some decent config . There are some issues like windows desktop manager crashed, got bluescreen of death. SO I installed all the updates. Few days ago I tried to play a 1080p planet earth video . The video plays for a minute or so then stops. Called technical support they created many tickets but of no use. The last thing they told me was to run a diag tool and that tested memory and hard drive. Does anyone know whats going on?Looks like the optimus is not switching drivers. So I went to Bios then selected all three options and tried but the same results. Kind of upset with lenovo.

Hi. I run 7 Home Premium, 64bit on a Toshiba Satellite L505. My chipset is from the Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series family. When I try to play 1080p or even 720p videos (doesn't matter if it's VLC or MPC, or whatever) my screen blacks for a second and then comes back with the 'display driver stopped responding and has recovered' message. Then the VLC window is green, and I can't play the video.

I've uninstalled and re-installed the Intel drivers from the Toshiba website many, many times, and nothing has worked to solve this problem. I already clean boot, so there aren't any conflicting programs that cause this. HOWEVER, I have noticed that if I start up my computer, then restart from the start menu, I am able to play the videos without a hitch. Then, if I completely shut down and turn it on again, the issue re-surfaces.

Please help me out with this. Are there any differences between boot/restart that cause this? I would appreciate any feedback.

Thank you in advance!

Answer:1080p videos only play upon restart, not boot-up.

Take a look in Device Manager for problems? Any yellow exclaimation marks there?

Have you tried a system restore, or repair install?

Does your PC have a recovery partition?

Do you have a windows 7 installation disk?

Hi
I have nVidia as per title, but when I want to play HD 1080p videos through VLC player I come into problems.
It starts of 1-2 second then stops, while you can hear the sound, then plays the video for another 1-2 second and stops again, while you can hear the sound. When attempts to play the video, it jumps to where video should be together with the soudn you can see pixels and very slow movements and it stops again. Almost it seems that it is buffering the video while attempting to play it in the same time.
I know that max resolution is 2560x1600 which is more then enough to 1080p HD videos.
I have 17" monitor, Q6600, 4GB ram.

Can you please advice how can I play 1080p HD file without having video output start stop.

thanks

So. The problem is kind of messed up. The video (any format) plays in a low frame rate but when I shake my mouse around the screen, it plays smoothly. :|
This started when I switched from Vista to 7 (32 bit). It used to work fine in Vista.
And this is a problem only in VLC, the videos play fine in any other player. I tried switching to KM PLayer but it's really slow on my laptop. Also, since I'm more comfortable with VLC, I'd like to stick with it.
I'd really appreciate some help on this. Google didn't help.
Thank you.

Answer:HD Video content does not run smoothly on Qosmio G30-134

Hi there,

why should someone tell you what to do? You already posted the resolution (maybe without knowing it)

> Wenn I install windows clean again and then play this video then he wil work properly, after i install word, exel,my printer, virusdriver and so on, then the video will not work anymore smootly.

So, if you install applications, then usually the system performances drops, due to freshly installed services, tools in the systemtray or background applications which all is coming with that stuff
(word,exel,my printer,virusdriver) you mentioned.
So in my honest opinion, I suggest you reinstalling your system, and then do the following:

install at first ONE application (e.g. office) and try to play your video. Should the video run smoothly then continue installing the next software (like anti-virus) and check it again.
If the video runs smoothly after every new installed software, continue installing the next one.
But if you recognize, that the video begins running with stuttering and slower speed, then the last application you?ve installed is the software which uses too much system resources.

If you find out which application causes the video running not so smoothly, then try to find an alternative software which does not need so much system-power from your computer.

Hi,

I have a problem when i streamed video on the web such as Youtube, the video appear choppy and jerky while the audio is running ok. But I could run the video smoothly on 240p resolutions but not higher. Is there any setting on the laptop to improve this?

Answer:Video streaming on the net appear choppy and jerky while audio is running smoothly

Unfortunately I don't have any inspiring ideas, just some standard ones that I can suggest.

A) Make sure you haven't set the battery settings to low. I know on my lap top if I have it set to the power-saving setting than everything runs pretty poorly.

B) Update video card drivers. Usually my first suggestion for anything video related. Or, if you just updated them, roll back to an older version.

C) Make sure you don't have a lot of stuff running in the back ground. Did you download something recentley and then this started happening? Make sure it isn't doing funny stuff in the back ground.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Like I said, it's nothing unorthodox, really, but hopefully it might help.

Question: 1080p video lag

Whenever I try to play youtube videos in 1080p... it lags horribly. Am I doing something wrong. I tried playing those videos on high performance, but it would not work. I have the AMD e-350, 2gb ddr3 or ram.

Answer:1080p video lag

I don't have mine shipped yet and I know this isn't what you want to hear but... These laptops/netbooks do not have enough resolution to display 1080p. To really see 1080p you'd need 1080p resolution. These only have 768p. Just like a cellphone might be able to render 1080p, does not mean it is actually 1080p. The extra pixels do not magically form on the screen

Hello. I just bough a screen for my computer.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
Radeon HD5850 1GB graphic card.
Using HDMI cable

And I was hoping to get a great screen in 1920x1080 resolution by buying this screen. After reading like 10 reviews on google search it was a great match to my demands.

Then I got the screen, and tested it. However when I selected to run in 1920x1080, the quality was horrible!
I try to do print screen, but only the analog display is horrible, not the results on the computer.

However if I tune this down to 1600x1200 resolution, it looks great. But I want to have the full 1920x1080 effect not the 1600x1200 effect.

I checked the drivers, and it says my latest driver is "2009/10/29_001003". Witch looks like a recent date.

I have tried to google any specific drivers for this screen for vista/Win7 that got a newer date than my drivers. Without any luck.

I try to google other people who have same problem as me, however, I only get to 1000x different reviews of this monitor, fake driver download/repair sites and such things.

I got very mixed up feelings about this. I do not know if I shall try to deliver back the screen, or that 1920x1080p isn't for computers? Or maybe HDMI cant run 1920x1080p? Is it a malefactor fault? Shall i just stick to the screen and appreciate that it works good in 1600x1200, I mean it isn't that much lower. But I keep dreaming that the screen is originally made for 1080p and that the screen quality wil... Read more

For a decent while now (several months, though I don't remember specifically), my graphics card has been crashing with pixelated graphics. Attached is a picture of what the graphics artifact looks like, though this is just from google. I can post a pic of my own computer once it happens again.

I have a GTX 470, and when this problem started, I upgraded to the 275ish driver set. It mostly went away at that time, but a month or so later, it came back. It happens the most when I have been playing a game (minecraft or Guild Wars, specifically) on one monitor and watching TV on my other.

Then the Windows 8 Dev Preview came out. There were few changes, at first, but I updated to the 290 driver set and it mostly went away. I installed the consumer preview somewhere in there, and it stayed fairly stable. Then it happened again a week or so ago, and it happened a lot. I cleaned out my computer with some canned air (took about 1.5 cans because I'd let it get disgustingly dusty) and the problem disappeared again.

Now I'm running the Guild Wars 2 Beta, and (surprise surprise) it happens again. Now it's just from running the game, even without playing video on my other monitor (before, it would almost never happen unless I was playing video while gaming). It can happen within 5 minutes of loading the game, or after as long as an hour.

Somewhere in all that, I started running EVGA Precision. It helped a lot, too. I'm still using it (and upgraded to Precision X yesterday... Read more

About 2 weeks ago I purchased a Lenovo Y50 with the 1080p LCD and notice that Netflix streams are coming in blurry. The same movie on my Lenovo Y580 and tv come in crystal clear, but for some reason the Y50 has a poor quality look. I've tried several different movies across all three displays and the Y50 just looks terrible. I made sure that Netflix downloads were set to HD only and also tried to adjust the display setting with no luck. Is this screen a downgrade from previous models or is something not set right?

So there's a possibility that I'm posting in the wrong section but I'm 90% sure this is a graphics card problem.

I'm using a dell studio 17, running windows 7 with an i7 processor and 6GB RAM with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 graphics card. The problem is that after viewing a 1080p clip that is about 5 minutes long in VLC Media Player, things go very wrong.

Sometimes the whole monitor goes black and the audio lags or just comes to a complete halt. Other times the video plays out but is very laggy with out of sync audio. After closing VLC the lag persists. Task manager tells me that the CPU is only running at 5%; there aren't a lot of programs running simultaneously and yet anything I do will present itself in a jumpy fashion i.e. if I open a program, it will open promptly but with stutter across the screen as it enlarges itself.

I definitely have the latest driver software and restarting seems to solve the problem but I really want to be able to watch HD videos without this problem. Thanks in advance for your time.

EDIT: Tried watching the video again and it seemed to work ok except that I noticed by the end of it my pointer was massive. At least 5 times as big as normal. Rebooting/Hibernating/Sleep fixes this.

EDIT: Tried using windows media player and it worked! (Apart from the big pointer which still occurred) What I don't understand is why my computer continues to lag after I've closed VLC. Any questions? Comments?

Answer:After watching a 1080p video, massive graphics lag

VLC Media Player might not be compatible with your computer. Are you really using on-board video? If so, that's the problem. You could use a good quality add-on graphics card

For starters, we don't know what your using for windows os or your computer specs.
What kind of windows os are you using ?
Which media player or suite are you using on your machine ?
Which version of programs, any codecs you may have installed ?
What kind of tv do you have ?

Once you give us some info, we can break down the issue and see about fixing your problem.

Lets me start off by saying I really hope someone can help me with this. Have been trying so many forums and just can't seem to get the information I need. (and I thought it was simple question )

So here it goes...

I want a cheap laptop to connect to my receiver with an hdmi cable. The receiver has 5.1ch surround sound (so it outputs the audio to the 6 boxes). The video output of the receiver is going to a 1080p projector, also with hdmi.
And if I'm right, this setup should work cause the audio and video can all go through the hdmi cable. And pretty much every new laptop has an hdmi port.

But my question is: how good does the laptop have to be to be able to produce the 1080p signal and the 5.1 surround sound (the output would go to external devices). Can every new bought laptop do that (even the cheaper ones)? Or does a laptop need a bit better specs for that?

For example: alot of the cheaper laptops have an 'Intel Celeron' processor and an 'Intel HD Graphics' videocard. Also the screen of the laptop itself is 720p most of the time. Could a laptop with these specs produce 1080p and 5.1 audio, or are the processor and videocard (or something else) not strong enough for that?

An example of those cheaper laptops I'm talking about: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-S21e-20-80M40003GE.146582.0.html

Hi

Maybe you are using an older driver version or something else... But that?s strange. Does this happen only with HD videos or normal videos too?

In your case I would update the chipset and display driver. Both you can download from the Toshiba European driver download page.

So I was using my laptop over on a friends LG 47" TV and when I plugged it into my SVideo output on my Toshiba laptop with the Intel 965 Video card, the screen started to flash as it was trying to recognize the tv. I would get popups of the Video Driver was saved from a crash, but the screen would keep on flashing when it would go to a BSOD. I tried it twice and it ended the same way. I've used this before with my own normal tvs at home and it would work fine. Has anyone else run into a similar problem?

I'm using Win 7 7100, x64.

I also think that I'm currently using the Vista drivers for the Intel 965 video card.

Answer:Intel 965 Express Video & LG 47" 1080p = BSOD?

This post should be moved to drivers as I found out it was a driver issue. The newest driver available actually causes this problem. Not just with LG but with ALL EXTERNAL TVs.

If you have the driver version for Intel 965 Express 8.15.10.1749 then downgrade it or roll it back to a previous one. I'm currently now using 8.15.10.1730, and it works fine with all external monitors.

I am able to play youtube videos of 1080p resolution and video files of full HD / Bluray resolutions if I play through VLC or one of those std video players. But playing 1080p contents in browser (other than youtube) is flickering. Even netflix HD contents are flickering and A/V sync goes off.Network Bandwidth seems to be fine since I am able to play those contents in same browser (Chrome) in my HP elite (NVIDIA)Since downloaded videos files are playing fine, I think my device is capable for handling HD videos. Then why browser play is not working. Please help me to identify the issue. I dont want to return the laptop just for this problem. Let me know if you need more info on the card to give suggestions. Thanks in Advance,JK

Answer:AMD HD Radeon 6310 - 1080p Video flickering only in browser

Hey there jeykumar83,

To clarify what your dealing with so that the community can better assist, what operating system are you currently running? Do you experience this in other browsers as well, Internet Explorer or Firefox? Currently, what is the AMD Catalyst? Software version and driver version for your video card? And to confirm, you are using the x120e?

EDIT: If you will see if when playing netflix in 720p, do you experience the screen flicker as well?

Thanks jeykumar83.

I've got several 1080p movies, they all have a bitrate of roughly 20Mbps, and stereo audio. They all play perfectly in mediaplayer-classic but, in Quicktime and iTunes, they are extremely choppy in both audio and video. Quicktime's move inspector shows them as playing at 6-12fps when they're encoded at 24fps.

I've tried everything I can find to do to fix it. I've tried enabling and disabling directx, directdraw, and direct3D acceleration in every combination possible (from quicktime). None of that fixed it. I've tried adjusting the audio settings in quicktime. I've tried turning off all of itunes' unnecessary features (Genius, sharing, wireless sync, etc.). And I've updated my graphics drivers to the latest version. All to the same result.

My hardware should be more than sufficient to play these videos, my raspberry pi can play them and that thing can't touch my computer. I've got a Phenom II x4 955 BE CPU, an XFX r6770 1gb GPU, 16GB DDR3 Ram, and a 5400RPM WD Green 1TB HDD. The computer is running Windows 7 64-bit. I'm using itunes version 11.0.2.26. and quicktime 7.7.3.

Anyone got any ideas as to why it would be doing this and maybe how to fix it? I would like to be able to play all my media from one place if at all possible.

Hello beautiful people!

I have a problem with 720p and 1080p on my laptop and I need help with that.

The screen shot, below, displays everything about my computer's information. If there is any way I can fix that , please tell me how. Thank you so much in advance (I believe in you guys!)

Answer:720p & 1080p issue of lagging/chopping playback video

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Seeing your cpu temperature is at 69c might be why that's getting a tad on the hot site
Click Start and type in the search box
resource monitor
Click on the suggestion for it and open the Overview section and post a screen shot.

You can monitor your temperatures with this
Download Real Temp 3.70 | techPowerUp
Download it to your downloads folder
Right click it and extract all
Open the extracted folder and right click the RealTemp.exe file and click on Send to = desktop create shortcut
Click to open the shortcut on your desktop
It will open and a Celsius # will appear on the action center.
You can minimize the little window and the # will remain.

Realtemp also shows processor Load so you might leave it not minimized so you can monitor the Load also at a glance.

Hi there

Using Plex for 1080p with 6Ch and codec HEVC H265 transcoding always seems to take place and video pauses frequently even on megafast Network connection.

If I drop the audio to 2CH then it works fine seems PLEX has problem with the AUDIO rather than the video codec --strange though.

It all works at 720p whatever audio but I do prefer the full 1080p on decent TV's.

Is there any way to either "Pre-transcode in advance" or fix the audio problem -- 2Ch is OK but full 6 Ch is great for some movies.
Using HEVC H265 saves HUGE amounts of disk space at 1080p and will be even better for 4K UHD TV too.

Cheers

Answer:PLEX - stop transcoding for 6CH HEVC H265 video 1080p

You can Pre-Transcode (not sure how it deals with Audio)

Go to the Movie details page
Click the 3 little dots at the bottom left and select Optimize
Selecting the Custom option on next pop up gives more control over how you want it

HTH

You can create numerous different versions and then the device will select the best to play, they do get stored in the same folder as original, make sure you have lots of spce

Hi guys,
I have problems with watching 1080p Progressive HD Video movies on my G20-120. Picture gets stuck for 1-2 seconds every 5-7 seconds. Sound has no problem.
I try to close all the programs and applications that are running, but still it gets stuck. Can anyone of these help do you think:

1-Upgrading 1GB RAM to 2 GB
2-Overclocking either the CPU or the Video Card (I am sure if its possible at all) If yes how is it done?
3-Changing the 128 MB Video Card to 256 MB (Again I am not sure if it can be changed)

Thanks A Lot.

So I'm trying to get the best out of YouTube by playing videos on a max of 1080p 60fps (my laptop monitor has a resolution of 1600x900) when possible. Unfortunately, when I'm playing these videos at this quality, the video stops for a second or half every few seconds or so. The frame-rate between these stutters is okay, but the stuttering itself is what's bothering me.

So first off, I tried using task manager/Process Manager 2 to set Google Chrome's priority to high and permanently keep it every time I launch it, didn't work. I set the priorities of other programs that used my PC's performance as much or close to how Chrome used, still didn't work. Set Chrome's priority to real-time: didn't noticed any stuttering fortunately but the problem was replaced with audio issues so I set it back to high.

I also tried using Razer Cortex's game boost feature and stop processes that I didn't need when playing chrome, or games for that matter, and I still didn't noticed any differences.

So I looked to Chrome itself and see what I can do to it to help. I searched a few popular YouTube enhancers on the Chrome Store and tried them, but no differences are what I saw. I looked on forums online via Google Search to see if other people had similar issues and I found some suggestions, however these didn't work out either. Disabling hardware acceleration only made the difference of reducing frame-rate, I don't how Flash or HTML 5 playback works, and I don't know if the issue is a hardware or n... Read more

Sorry if this is not the correct area to post in but I am at my wits end trying to resolve this problem after a week.

Ive been using IE11 fine for well over a year (following a clean install of W7 using your guides). For the whole year ive been able to watch youtube vids in 1080p (I have 2 x 1920x1200 monitors and a 70Mbit internet connection).

A week ago that stopped and in the youtube quality settings I have only two options 360p and 720p. Both look pretty awful compared to what I am used to.

To make matters worse, my wife who has a PC behind me connected to the same network also running W7 and IE11 can watch the same vids as me in 1080p.

Things I have tried which haven't worked:Install latest adobe flash player
install latest java
Reset IE11 to default settings
Uninstall flash player and java and reboot.
installed latest NVidia drivers (GTX980) using a clean install and DDU cleaner to remove old driver
Im stumped and would really appreciate the kind of help I know you guys are capable of giving.

thanks
Matt

Answer:Windows 7 and IE11 - inability to select 1080p video in Youtube

I see the same thing with IE11 on two different computers. Both fail to offer 1080p on a video that Chrome will play at 1080p. (but I'm not on my regular ISP at the moment).

Java has no bearing on the issue. I don't have the Flash add-on for IE11 on either of the two computers that I tested with.

I've never noticed this before - since I tend to play videos in Chrome.

I have installed all necessary drivers for ex. video, audio, graphics etc.
But still video lags.
I have tried to play different videos (all HD), but neither 720p nor 1080p is playing smoothly.
I am using "Media Player Classic + K-Lite Codec Pack" and "VLC Media Player".
Any suggestions to resolve the issue for video playback. Thank you! :)

They are very choppy and the sound also..The fan is working nearly fulltime in full speed.. Also the integrated Laptop Display sometimes flickers.  The Laptop just feels sooooo slow and that's a shame for such a decent device.. =(  Anyone has a hint for me? Do you need more data?Kind regards, Tim

So this one is pretty weird for me. I've never had any issues like this before, but I think it has to do with having all my drivers up to date. I was having this problem for a long time where I couldn't run games for too long because eventually the whole screen would get all glitchy and the last second of sound would repeat itself over and over until the monitor went into power saving mode. I tried reinstalling drivers, installing different graphic drivers like NGO and Omega which I had before.. Nothing worked!

Well, just recently my friend showed me this program driver cleaner pro and he said it helped him with his driver issues. So I followed the directions, uninstalled my drivers, cleared everything with the program in safe mode, restarted and reinstalled the drivers. Voila, all my games work with no issues at all, except for Counter-Strike 1.6.
Then I tried to watch a movie; It plays fine, I can hear the sound fine, but the video doesn't play. Even when I tried to record a video with fraps of one of my emulators (which has worked before), it didn't show video on playback.

So I restarted my computer.. now all my games don't work except Diablo 2, Starcraft, and CS 1.6. However, now I can watch movies with no problem at all! These past couple of weeks I've been having to go through the whole process of using driver cleaner pro, and installing Omega drivers again everytime my computer needed to reboot.

When I go to play CS: Source, it will get... Read more

I am having problems with my computer, in fact my old laptop had the same problem with the same video files, any 1080p video files I may have on my computer will have a problem where the audio will stop for 3 - 5 seconds while the video continues to play, if I play-through the whole video with the audio stopping, the video ends before the audio, but if I skip to the end of the video at any point in the playback, the audio is in sync. I'm wondering if it is a Windows 7 related bug because the computers with the problem all run Windows 7. I could only find things on the internet regarding video websites like Youtube and such but I couldn't find anything with files on the computer. If those same videos I have problems with are uploaded to a video hosting website, they play just find without skipping on the website, even when my Internet slows around 6PM.

Answer:video files. audio keeps stopping, video continues to play

I am still having this problem

Can someone please help me?

Hi, I was just looking at the Synaptics features in looking at a poster's issue, when I found that 'Show Video' opens a window as if to play it but only blinks 'Opening media'.

Now the videos are wmv's and mpg's and play correctly in my default player if I open them from their folder explicitly.

The player window opened by Synaptics is not my default player. It is something run by rundll32.exe.

I haven't tried reinstalling the Synaptics driver - yet.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I adjusted the hardware acceleration bar in the troubleshooting option on the video options. [Properties>settings>advanced>troubleshoot>hardware acceleration]

and when adjusted to the lower few settings, the video will show on the tv, but in slow motion. Any help would be appreciated.

Some videos made using an online system, screencasts, now downloaded will not show the video component when played on the computer.  Windows Media Player 12 had played them just fine when they were online, but now using Windows Media Player 12 with the same video downloaded, only the Media Player's visualizations show but not the recorded video portion.  Why or what can I do?

Windows Vista
Windows Media Player 12
Downloaded videos as MP4 (actually onto external portable hard disk).

Answer:downloaded video files not play the video portion (mp4)

Download CCCP Codec Pack. After install make sure you reset user settings. Reboot and you should be able to play MP4's using the Classic Media Player included in the Codec Pack. This codec pack will let you play just about any media file. Don't worry about the Russian Looking page. The site is legit.

Go to Start -> Programs -> Combined Community Codec Pack and open the Settings manager.
Press "Next" to get to the second page.
Under "Special Settings", check "Reset All Settings".
Press Apply.
Select Yes to the question, and follow through the Settings until Apply is hit again.

I have tried loading VLC, K-Lite codecs, tried playing in WMP/WMC/WINAMP/VLC all with no luck. They play the audio fine, and I can open some WMVs ok, but others won't open.

I have tested the files on another PC using VLC and they play fine.
Anyone know of any special way to check what codec could be the culprit?

Answer:Can't play some WMV video files? Audio plays. No video.

Try Media Player Classic-Homecinema. It has it's own codecs, so you don't need to install anymore, just like VLC. I've found that MPC-HC plays just about any kind of media file out there.

Ive got a 32GB memory stick.
It has about 24GBs of video files on it currently.

However when i put any new video files from my laptop onto it, and then try opening the, my video player just wont play any of them!!

The video player opens, but instead of showing the video timer as 0.00/3.20mins (to show that is has 3.20mins of video in the file which it will play),
it just shows 0.00/0.00 as the timer, and wont load the video at all!!
The current video files i have on there all play fine, but any new files i put on in the exact same format just wont play!

And it also f**ks up the video file itself just by being put on there though!

As i have a video on my laptop which plays fine, i put it on the memory stick and it wont play, i transfer it back from the stick to my laptop but the file then still wont play, and so has been corrupted somehow just by being placed on the memory stick!
Can anyone please please help??

I?m running Windows XP, and my default media player is Windows Media Player 11. After I downloaded a video clip (properties: audio format MPEG Layer-3) and played it, widows media player opened, and at the bottom it says ?acquiring codec? then ?codec acquired? but all I get is sound, no video. A friend of mine downloaded the same file from the same link, and they didn?t have any problems (but I don?t know what operating system or media player they?re using). However, after I downloaded Media Player Codec Pack, the video played back just fine.

My question is: how do I know if it?s a problem with the FILE or with my SYSTEM (possibly my media player)? I wanted to burn the file onto a CD, but I?d like to know up front if the file is going to play correctly on my friend?s PC or not. This is the first time I?ve ever encountered this problem, and admittedly don?t know a great deal about the ins and outs of video files, codecs and players.

Thanks!
Fred

sorry, if this not the right place please move. I did many google searches cant seem to find the issue Im having, or maybe lack of the right key searches. You guys are my last hope.
I will try to explain my problem as clearly as I can. And so sorry about my bad grammar and spelling, trying to post this asap.

first off give small history of my PC. I bought my PC new Sept 2001. A HP Pavilion with 1.3 ghz, 256ram, and a 55gig hard-drive originally came with WinMe, since then I upgraded to XP. I kept my PC case clean, didn't try to install programs my PC couldn't handle, didn't go to any sites that knew were bad with viruses and such also had Malwareytes/spybot/avast/hijackthis to use, didnt install any toolbars, and tried not to have many programs open at the same time. I basically kept my PC simple with use.

Anyways around June I noticed some odd slowdowns
While playing Winamp and running a torrent with speeds of more than 400+ the audio would become choppy. This also happen when I would open FF, IE or any program while running Winamp, the audio would be choppy.

Extracting 700mb files from Winrar would take around 8mins

Playing Youtube, WMP, of VLC videos would be slow and choppy.

Transferring files from one PC to another over a crossover cable would take much longer. 4gigs of files would take about 20mins or so.

Virus scanners, Avast, Malwarebytes, and Spybot would also take much longer than usual.

So, about 2 weeks ago while my brother was on Youtube my... Read more
