Error 3041 Can't open library from earlier version

Question: Error 3041 Can't open library from earlier version

Hi all,

Let me start by offering apologies if this is in the wrong forum; I wasn't quite sure where else to start.

I've got a case where some users of a program written in VB (6, I believe) that makes use of an access database, are encountering the error from the subject line: "Error 3041 Can't open library from earlier version"

This is happening primarily on Windows 8, although we've recently seen a few cases with members using Windows 7 as well.

It happens when trying to open the program, and after clicking OK, the error box disappears, and the program does not start.

We have found that re-installing the program seems to make the error go away, but only for one or two uses, after which it suddenly appears again.
similarly we've tried re-registering a handful of .DLL files:
regsvr32.exe MSRD2X35.DLL
regsvr32.exe MSRD2X40.DLL
regsvr32.exe MSRD3X40.DLL
Doing so seems to have the same effect; the program will operate, but only temporarily.

We're at a bit of a loss here; none of the folks in the office have been able to reproduce the error, and the only thing that the handful of members running into the error seem to have in common is that they have MS Office installed. Even there, the particular version of Office doesn't seem to have an effect.

If anyone has clarifying questions, or suggestions of steps to try/check, I would be very happy to answer whatever I can.

Preferred Solution: Error 3041 Can't open library from earlier version

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Error 3041 Can't open library from earlier version

Try putting the VB code in the "Roaming" folder which is in C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming you will have to unhide folders and files to see the roaming folder.

Hello all,
I know there are tons of posts that would probably answer my question, but after sitting here at the computer for 4 hours now, reading and getting no where.... I figured I would just ask directly.

I have a toshiba laptop with windows xp. Now we got this used, and xp was already on it. We have always had to "use earlier version" upon start-up. There is no disk, no "key". I cannot afford to upgrade to windows 8, nor can I afford a new laptop... is there anything that can be done, or am I just screwed for having a 12 year old program?

Also, the last 2 months I have continuously been getting the bad image message. like 20 times during the start up, and almost every time I click anything. I've searched and searched on how to fix this. I tried going to computer-properties-system restore....and it did nothing.

I lot of the computer talk is simply over my head.
I need some help, but simple straightforward help... please! :)

Answer:XP- using Earlier version- and bad image error

Hi and welcome to TSF do you have the model number of the laptop, Now to be honest, if you have no disc and it may be doubtful that the machine has a recovery partition fixing things could be hard to achieve.
That being said, if it cannot be fixed there are free operating systems called Linux and come in a variety of names IE Ubuntu, Mint,Zorin so you could if needs be use a version of Linux to continue browsing the web watching YouTube or writing documents etc.

I have several remote locations that collect data in an .mdb format. These are ziped to diskettes daily and unzipped to a master computer in the main office for processing.

The main pc is(was) running Access 97, and the remote locations are running a custom application that was built by some 3rd party.

This was all working just fine, untill I switched out master pc's with one that had Access 2000 on it. I tried to run it on the 200, but did not have any luck, so I installed 97 in addition to the 2000. I got the error message. I uninstalled both versions of access(leaving the remainder of the office2000 install in place. I then re-installed access97 only and am getting the same message.

The error message is Runtime error 3041. Can't open a database created with a previous version of your application.

the debug shows this line as the problem.

"DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", "c:\tickets\Tickets.mdb", acTable, "TicketNo", "scalehouse", False"

Can anybody help me, or recomend another forum where I might get some help. This is a very important part of our operation.

Thanks

Answer:replacing AVG latest version with earlier version

No, just run the file you downloaded, and you get options to remove, add components or repair. I choose add components, and it installed the new version right over the old.

Error Message: MMC will not run with a version of Internet Explorer earlier than Internet Explorer 5.5

Thanks in advance for your help.

In an attempt to get rid of Internet Explorer, I suspect I deleted software from my other laptop that I shouldn't have. Below are the changes I recently made to the system and the issues I'm having.

Recent changes
1. used the Unlocker software to delete Internet Explorer, firewall software, antimaleware software, and my printer drivers
2. deleted Outlook, MSN, and Internet Explorer folders from program files.
3. deleted Internet Explorer from the registry

Issues
1. Accessibility folder is empty
2. no volume icon in the system tray
3. system info and system restore windows blank
4. services window blank and gives the MMC error
5. no internet connection/ access to wireless network

I do not have the original disks/ service pack 3. How can I resolve these issues in xp?

Answer:MMC will not run with a version of IE earlier than IE 5.5

I suggest you make good use of my Windows XP install and update guide:
https://forums.techguy.org/threads/guide-for-doing-a-clean-install-of-windows-xp.1128884/

Windows XP comes with IE 6.0 as part of it, so I don't know where you're getting IE 5.5 or earlier from.

I have a computer in my workshop that doesn't get used very much, one of the programs I use there doesn't like the last upgrade (the fonts are messed up). When this has happened in the past I just recovered to an earlier version. Now that option is no longer available because the upgrade was more than 10 days ago.

Is there any kind of work-around for that?

An in-place repair install should take you back to build 14393.0 keeping you files and programs intact.
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

You could then install the October Cumulative Update to take you up to 14393.351
Cumulative Update KB3197954 Windows 10 PC and Mobile build 14393.351

Links to download it are in the above Tutorial. It's also available here...
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...px?q=KB3197954

Before you start it is always a good idea to make a system image first using something like Macrium Reflect.

or at least use the built in Microsoft offering.

Hi and hope everyone had a good Christmas,
I received a DVD writer as a gift. While trying to install the software, it gives me the message can not install because an earlier version of CD Creator is on the computer. I had tried removing the program through the add or remove programs in the control panel. And I'm running XP Pro, by the way but it couldn't uninstall because of a missing file.
So where can I go in the registry to get all traces of this earlier version off so the new one will install? Or if there is another way I'm open to that also.
Thanks for any help,
Grill

Answer:Finding Earlier Version

The easiest way to fix your problem is to re-install the "older" version of the software and then completely uninstall it again. After this, install the newer version of the software that you have.
It sounds like the older version was once installed and then some of the executables associated with the application were removed.

-Mike

BTW....if you do not have the older version of the software anymore, you should be able to download a trial version of the software and then use this.

I downloaded IE 7.1 beta to see what it was like. (It's a FireFox mock-up, not worth anyone's time) Now, when I try to load MSN, It says I need a newer version of IE. Great. How do I go back to 6?

Answer:MSN stuck, need earlier version of IE

Open your Control Panel and take a look in Add or Remove Programs.  Do you see IE 7.1, or some title for an Internet Explorer installation indicating IE 7.1, listed?  If so, remove it.

I've read through people's comments about the Vista throughout the internet. Windows Vista seems to be a problem for gamers when they want to play PC games that were released on earlier OS than Vista, such as Windows XP. Is Windows Vista not compatible on all of the older PC games to install and play? For example: I like to install an old PC game like Star Wars Dark Forces II Jedi Knight and it's a Windows game made before XP. Windows 98 I think? I played it on Windows ME before.

I've also read that gamers prefer much on Windows XP than Windows Vista for playing PC games.

The thing is I'd like to have and experience Windows Vista but I'm concerned about the gaming thing going on Vista. Is there a patch or update or anything to play all of the PC games up to Windows XP?

Answer:XP and earlier PC version being played on Vista

Well i have The Sims, the original one and i played it and it worked fine. I also have another game that i do not think is Vista supported yet and it works fine. Vista in general has problems that i see, like getting the blue screen for memory dump once in awhile. XP is probably better at the moment for games but i have not had too many problems yet.
This is just my opinion though.

One of the Data Bases I built with Access 2000 and then updated to 2003 was working fine. It had a picture file (ole object) and I could just about copy and paste a picture into the field. Had no problems. Then I upgraded to 2007 and I can not add pictures, get errors stating that I need to reinstall and activate the Ole Server. Or if try to add a new picture the busy light just goes and you can not save the file. Have to close the program.

With 2007 I added an attachment field which works great. But I really do not want to re-enter all the pictures into that field. Is there a way to get the Ole Oject to work. I have searched the forums and can not find any answers. I have even tried turning off my Antivirus to see if that would help.

Looking for some help.

Answer:Access Problem going from earlier version to 2007

moomom, welcome to the Forum.
I think that is a known problem with Access 2007, can I suggest that you try writing a simple Update Query to take the data from the OLE field and put it in the Attachment field.

Personally I never use OLE fields in Tables as they consume a great deal of Disc and Memory space, I prefer to use a simple text field in the table that holds the "Path" to the Image and then and OLE field on the Form, with some very simple VBA code to actually display the image using the Path in the table.

I created a document in Word (Vista) that was saved in 2009. I have recently updated it to make several revisions/additions.

I saved the document on May 14th, 2011; however, when I went back to look at the document (which was saved on an external hard drive and emailed), one version had a couple of new paragraphs and the other was the same as the version that I had last worked on in 2009!

Can you help me to recover the last version of the document that had all of the changes/new information (from May 14th - the last day I worked on it - after I had finished all of the changes)?

Since the upgrade to Windows 10 I have had continuous problems. Windows Live mail will barely function at all - just freezes every time I try to open it. To add to this the enter buttons on the keyboard stopped working and today two programmes have disappeared - their apps have gone from the desktop as well.

I am so fed up with Windows 10 - it's like Big Brother - how dare they decide what I can use, what I can't use etc. is there any way I can go back to my old windows programme?

Answer:How do I revert back to an earlier Windows version

Hi, if you bought a retail license and upgraded to '10 in the last 30 days, you should be able to restore the previous version from within Windows.

If more than 30 days, you will need to either
a. Clean install the previous edition (assuming you have a pertinent license)
or- assuming you are in the strongly recommended habit of using disk imaging and have kept relevant disk images
b. Restore your system using those disk images.

Naturally, if you now have a newish PC and wished to, say, reinstall Windows 7, you might not find all the necessary drivers are available.

Other than that, sorry your experience has been poor.. after a bit of a learning curve, mine's been fine. I avoid the universal apps and the Win 10 start menu, and rarely use Cortana.

I have a minimal installation of Windows XP here, since I had to install it before I could "upgrade" to Windows 7. In addition, I have partitions which contain an exact copy of my old Win2K and WinXP installations (using Paragon Hard Disk Manager).

The OS Selections menu on boot up shows both "Windows 7" and "Earlier Version of Windows", but only Windows 7 shows in EasyBCD or msconfig when running on Windows 7. If I select "Earlier Version of Windows" I get another sub menu with my minimal WinXP, then 4 identical selections of "Microsoft WinXP", and finally one for the old Win2K and WinXP in their individual partitions. The first 5 boot successfully into my minimal WinXP. Neither of the last 2 will boot successfully, though I was hoping to eventually enable them using EasyBCD.

I tried running msconfig in WinXP. This does show the full set of secondary selections, but there is no option to remove any of the entries there. I cannot find a boot.ini file in any partition on the HDD. Where is this secondary selection menu hiding, and how do I get rid of the things there that are not functional?

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Earlier Version of Windows - edit sub menu

Hello Sherry0, welcome to Seven Forums!

Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you actually have going.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that.

Answer:Getting earlier version of Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore 2.x

The first disk of the set of 4 is the boot disc, there weren't separate boot discs when the R40 was current. It should actually state "bootable" on the disc. Using the discs wil totally erase the hard drive including all files etc. and return the system to factory state.

Ok, so we got this used computer and are trying to fix it for my daughter to use. It's an HP, about 3 years old. Running XP. When I turn it on, it comes up fine, then all the icons show up, then BAM! Active Desktop error. Can't click on anything, it's all locked up. So, I tried to restore it to an earlier version, which there are about 10 different bold dates I can choose from. I've tried every one of them, it thinks about it...then says it is unable to restore to that date. Of course, I don't have the original disks that came with it, it was a freebie! Any ideas? I wanted to just format the drive and start over, but how do I get it to dos without going into windows first? Please be gentle with your explainations, I'm not stupid, but I'm not a programmer either.

Thanks in advance!

Hello there

I have two partitions, one 400GB one and another 40GB one. The 400GB is the main one, of course, with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it, while I created the other one so I can install Windows XP. For some reason the XP installation failed no matter how many times I tried, and it actually ended up screwing a lot of things and I wasn't able to boot into my Windows 7 until I installed Windows 7 on my 39GB partition and then I got the boot menus back.

Anyway, after deleting the newly installed Windows 7 (and also from the startup options), I still have "Earlier version of Windows" as well as "Windows 7". Of course Windows 7 is set as default, but I'd rather that I don't have to choose since I don't really have an 'earlier version of windows' and I do not know how to remove it.

I tried going to msconfig > boot but it's not listed there. I also tried Advanced System Settings and "Settings" under Startup and Recovery but there is text file anymore that has the startup options like Windows XP did.

What do I do? How do I remove it?

Thanks guys

A new Kodak Easyshare camera came with an updated version of Easyshare software which, when uploaded, was fine, as is accessing all photos taken with this new software version. However, all photos taken with the previous Easyshare camera software now appear on-screen with a broken zig-zag white line through the middle. When I try to access them the error message reads that the file is not accessible for the photo. How can I overcome this? I've tried saving them elsewhere but the same error message comes up. I have a storyboard to compile for a family celebration so I really hope you can help salvage something from this!! Many thanks for all suggestions ...

I'm using Jodix to convert wma to mp3. It has already converted a few files successfully.

However with others, it asks for DirectX to be updated to 8.1 or later. I have checked, and my DirectX shows as version 11.

Any ideas on what I can do to get Jodix to work?

Thanks

Where do I start. I emailed my home computer a document I'd spent a couple hours on at work. I did not do Send To... but saved my work (constantly), closed the document and attached it. When I opened the email at home it was an earlier version. When I got back to work and opened the document it was the earlier version as well. Where did my saved changes go? I searched everywhere on my computer, temp files, recent files, etc.

The only thing I can think is that during my work Word started acting funny and I did not reboot. Usually in Word, when you highlight a sentence and begin typing it will overwrite. Or if you hit Backspace it will delete. This wasn't working, so I would have to use the Delete key. This makes me think that all my saves were under some phantom non working computer that when closed out deleted all the saves back to a prior version.

I did happen to print out the document before I closed it. So my first question is can I get a print log of the document, does the computer save files it prints. The second question is please help me find my document.

A presentation file was transferred to me which was a ppt macro enabled file 2007. I have MS Office ppt 2003 and when I tried to open it it said no text converter was installed for a file of this type. And I couldn't save it to a .pptm again for the same reason. Is this because my MS Office is now too old to accommodate the later edition files?

Answer:powerpoint file transfer to earlier MS Office version

You will need to download and install the converter pack download. More details Open Powerpoint 2007 in an earlier version.

Answer:How do I roll back or revert to an earlier version of drivers on my Windows 8.1?

Hi smalasani,

Welcome to Lenovo Commmunity Forums!

This depends on How the computer was Upgraded
If you just did the Free Upgrade from Microsoft then you can Perform a One Key Recovery where it loads the Factory Image on the computer. Like How you got it from the store.

If you Installed a Fresh copy of Windows 8.1, You might need to get a hold of a Windows 8 Lenovo Recovery CD
You can Contact Lenovo Team on how to get one Fees may apply.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

I was told when I bought my Notebook that I would be able to install a 2000 or newer version of Microsoft Office. I am currently attempting to install Office XP 2002 Professional and it's not happnin'. I went to Microsoft's website to determine compatibility and even installed a toolkit that still didn't fix the problem. Is this possible? Is it because my version of Office specifically says Office XP? Am I able to perhaps install the Office 2003 version and download something from Microsoft then to allow compatibility?

So frustrated! Not a fan of Vista Office at all....

Thanks much!

Answer:Compatibility issues with Windows Vista & earlier Office version

Office XP is mostly compatible. Outlook has an issue with not being able to save your email password. Have you tried installing it in compatibilty mode? Don't install it by the autorun from the CD. Browse to the installation program on the CD. Right click on it and on the Compatibilty tab set it to XP SP2 and Run this program as an administrator.

Have I set something wrong somewhere, or is this normal behaviour?

Hi

I use MS 2010, and in my Excel work book I have a list which works fine for me. But when I send it to others, the cell with the list in does work. - By not working I mean that there is no "arrow" to access the different variables that the list should show.

I assume this is a compatibility issue. Was just wondering if there were any known solution.

Thanks

Hi, during a visit later this summer I plan to finally create recovery media for three of my out-of-state, technologically-clueless family's computers; and also for one or two of my own. I do have a clue, but not exactly a HUGE one.

I don't want to partition or leave TI running on any of them, all I want to be able to do is create CDs or DVDs that they can pop in to recover from any problems they might have that I can't help them figure out by phone. Their systems will probably never need to have new recovery discs made after the first time, as the only thing that changes on them are security updates and easily-reinstalled popular freeware. All the PCs are XP SP2, and of strictly "average juice," meaning none upgrade-able to Vista (not that I'd upgrade voluntarily, regardless). Two are about 5 or 6 years old. (Actually there's also an old W98SE laptop I might use TI on if the version I get works with it, but that one isn't at all important to include.)

So since my needs are few, might an earlier version of TI be best for me? For example smaller; easier on the machines; maybe simplest too? I think I've read that TI -- maybe only earlier versions, not sure -- isn't always very reliable for creating DVDs, which is all I DO want to do. So if that is something that is improved in more recent versions, I guess I should go with that. Or, in case the following round-a-bout method is any more reliable with TI, I could do it for all t... Hey all. I'm on my moms computer right now, trying to help her figure out whats going on with her internet. Internet Explorer has recently stopped working for no reason. I uninstalled and reinstalled, I updated, I went back two versions. She has a wireless connection, but its signal strength is at 100%. A perfect connection. Firefox works, I installed that for her and she hates it with a passion. But Internet Explorer doesn't work at all.

Anyone got any ideas as to what could be the problem? I have a HiJackThis log - she bitched at me about installing something called 'HiJackThis' but I told her let me handle it ):<

Keep in mind that my comp specs are not the same on this computer. I don't even know what shes using. I think its a stock HP Pavilion a131 On.

My wife's computer has a problem I can't work out - though I suspect it's a simple setting I can't find.

Whenever she opens a second IE window the earlier one closes immediately. She can't have two windows on screen. This is true even if a right mouse click selects open link in new window. The link opens but the previous page shuts.

I have run Spybot, Adaware, Cleanup and virus checker.

I have now set up Mozilla for her which works fine. but I'm still puzzled why IE doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

They were both working correctly until this evening. The Text function in both doesn't open up its box to select Font and Size etc.

What can I do to get them working correctly again?

If you try safe mode (F8) does that change the appearance back to normal of Paint? Never seen Paint mess up TBH, before so this is a new one for me as the app is really basic.

I'm guessing it might be partitioned on your hard drive, mind getting me a picture of your partitions, if you don't know how to find them, click start-then right click computer-click "manage", then computer management will come up-on the list click disk management, and then take a picture of that for me, if you don't know how to take the picture, then go to start-type in "snipping tool"-click that-then click the arrow next to new-select window snip, then take a picture of the partitions you have on disk management.
Any questions on this just let me know,

System Restore seems to be a cranky one who refuses to go back to earlier iterations of my system.

Since day one it has been like that, claiming that I have some anti virus opened, or some other issue which it does not list.

I shut down the Microsoft anti virus and firewall programs and still SR won't budge.

I wanted to go back before I did an installation of Movie Maker, which in another post I explain -- it just did not install and what it did install is Live Mail, the latest version, which keeps popping up a window that says it is installing it.

But if System Restore does not function, what else is left to do aside from the possibility of reinstalling Windows 7?

Thanks
Roxy

Answer:System Restore won't restore to earlier version

Do you definitely have system restore points?

Try running it from safemode - tap the F8 key repeatedly during boot-up.

if no-go, boot into Recovery via the HDD Recovery partition or W7 DVD and try system restore there (it runs under the supreme NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM user).

Every time I try to import music to my library, I get a loading pop-up that says "working" as if the music is importing, then the box disappears and nothing happens (Drag and drop music to library). If I try to use the add to library feature within wmp, I add the folder I want and no files are imported, nothing happens, not even a "working" pop-up as compared to the other method I tried. No music is currently in my library at all. I can still listen to music if I open the files but obviously this is much less convenient than using the library.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Are all your files from iTunes? If so they may all be in the .m4a format which is incompatible with media player.

Right-click on "Documents" in "Libraries" section of Windows Explorer, then select "Properties". Does you normal "My Documents" folder show in the list?

If not, then use Windows Explorer to navigate to your "My Documents" folder, and go into it. Then click Include in library and select "Documents" from the drop-down menu:

I don't know when it happened, and I don't know how it happened, although I suspect it could be due to the last set of updates I downloaded.. All I know is that for some reason, I cannot access my library folders.

Double clicking on the folders does absolutely nothing. I get no errors of any kind either. This is what I've done so far to try and fix the problem:

1) chkdsk /spotfix (no bad sectors found)

2) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (the component store corruption was repaired, whatever that means)

3) sfc /scannow (all files verified successfully)

4) Deleted library folders and then reset to default (did not work)

5) Windows 7 library registry fix (did not work)

None of these worked, and I'm at my wits end. I can still access the actual information thank God, by going to C:\Users. But I'd still like to be able to use the library function.

I can't believe something so seemingly simple could be so difficult to fix.

Answer:Cannot open library folders

Might have to do an In-Place Install, how is the hard drive health? I've had to run GWscan about 10 times since I installed Windows 8. I ran it that many times for Windows 7 for 3 years. When 8 blue-screens, sometimes it really messes up the system hard drive.

I have an HP Pavilion Elite e9270f and Windows 7 Ultimate with Norton 360 Version 5.2.0.13. About six weeks ago, our Norton displayed Error 5013,3 which led to a nightmare for me and many others. Norton's "immediate fix" failed to work.

A couple days ago, I saw on our site that Norton released Version 6 and provided instructions for the update. I followed these and found myself with a computer crash/BSOD. Review of internet and Norton 360 Community Forum reveals I'm not alone. Both Windows and HP said that a complete, clean system re-installation, because of circumstances, was required. The lose of so much work and information really hurts!

Subscription renewal of the Norton 360 for 5 computers comes up in 22 days. I'll obviously refuse. I've been with Norton for many years. Suggestions for replacement would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Ceachell

Answer:Word to the Wise - Norton 360 - BSOD and earlier Error 5013,3

You are not alone. As someone who has done thousands of BSOD's, Norton (IMHO) is one of the top three in apps that cause them.

They are also difficult to un-install cleanly.

My personal preference is Eset Smart security (Nod32 with firewall) version 5.

Is there a simple way to cure this??. I'm not a tech whizz but if the cure is simple I can give it a go

Answer:Solved: Word 2007 does not open earlier Word Docs

Welcome to the Forums!

You could try running a system file check if you haven't already. Heres a link to a tutorial o how to do that if you haven't before.

After performing a system restore  via ThinkVantage Restore/Recovery, I now cannot reboot my T61 -  error message is "NTLDR is compressed  Press Ctrl+Alt Del to restart " ...  Suggestions I found online require the recovery CD to allow usuage of the recovery console, but I am having a difficult time locating this disk (and am not sure the T61 even came with it). If anyone has recommendations, I would be very, very grateful !!

Answer:"NTLDR is compressed" error after system restoring to earlier time point

Hi and welcome to the forum!Sorry to hear this, but RnR gives you an opportunity to create recovery discs, this is first and foremost thing to do after getting your system:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70804 http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68317.htmlMost importantly, it also avoids the pain of purchasing them from lenovo, if you're under warranty then try calling them with your problem, they'll most probably send them to you for free, otherwise you'll need to buy 'em from them.Hope it helps.

I would like to know if there is any possible way that if I had to click on my Windows Explorer icon that it would open up my Documents library folder directly so as that I have immediate access to these folders. If not how would I be able to then create a shortcut for myself that would open this folder.

With many thanks

Is Windows 7 . . . - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? I'm a x64 - the original installed OS on the system? Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit - an OEM or full retail version? OEM, (pre installed on system) - What is the age of system (hardware)? 9 Months - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) I have re installed my windows, 1 months ago (i'm forgot about it)
Now the main problem, my windows just got a bluescreen when i open Video, in library, but when i use another users. it works normally. and i think something went wrong. so i join this forum, and want to ask.
Here's the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2folder & the PERFMON HTML file Attachment 219107

Anyway thank if you want to help me.

It could also be due to the missing drivers referred to above. Please install the drivers for those devices prior to doing the following steps. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log (you may need to search for wininit instead of chkdsk).
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system

Hi,
I have got Battlefield 1942 multiplayer demo version 1.0 and on most listed game servers it gives me an error "Wrong version, do you want to update?". But on clicking either Yes or No thereafter it again lists the same game servers and nothing seems to be updated.

What shall I do?

Thanks.

O.S. Windows 7 professional.
Preferred search engine is Firefox using a google toolbar.
I have recently downloaded a number of videos which I need to conver into MPEG format to enable and old friend to view on his TV through a CD/DVD player.
The original meduim is You Tube which I downloaded through Fastest tube in using FLV format.
The folders are lodged in my downloads library where I have been unable to open them and I have no idea where the have been located.

I would be gratful if somone can assit me.

Answer:Unable to open downloaded video files from download library.

Google "convert FLV to MPEG" without the quotation marks.
You should find a free converter at cnet in the first entry.
Don't forget to watch the install carefully to UNcheck the install of any "extras".

I have a folder in my "Documents Library" that is nested as a subfolder in "My Documents"

The reason I want to be able open in library view is because then I have the option in the upper right to "Arrange By" tag's.

If I right click in the left pane and under the documents view and select the folder and use Send to: Desktop (Shortcut) it works just as I need. HOWEVER, I need to create this shortcut for multiple users.

I would like to create a shortcut that uses environmental variables.
When going to the properties of the standard shortcut and the library shortcut to that same folder, everything looks identical (Except file size).

Thanks for the help on this!

Answer:How do I manually create shortcut to open folder in Library view?

Hello ImpetuousRacer,

You could use the paths below to create a shortcut for each library that can be used in any user account.

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries\Documents.library-ms

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries\Music.library-ms

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries\Pictures.library-ms

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries\Videos.library-ms

When you are finished creating the shortcuts, make sure that the Start in field is empty in the Shortcut tab in the properties page so that the shortcut will not be user specific.
I'll create tutorials on these shortly tonight, and post back with links to them when finished to make it easier for you to just download them if you like.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Yesterday I upgraded one computer from windows 10 version 1607 to version 1703 (OS Build 15063.13) using the Microsoft Update Assistant.

This is disk management on the computer that was upgraded using the Microsoft Update Assistant:

This computer was used to reproduce a Windows defender offline blue screen boot loop.  The troubleshooting menu on a windows 10 1607 iso did not have startup options with safe mode and command prompt to turn off windows driver verifier.  The partitions
on the SSD drive were deleted making the drive unallocated.  Then the windows 10 version 1607 was installed.  And as above it was upgraded to version 1703 yesterday without any problems.  The Windows defender offline incompatibility problem
with Windows driver verifier was tested with windows 10 version 1703 and the blue screen boot loop was fixed by Microsoft so that it is no longer occurs.
A second computer had the option via windows updates to get an early edition of 1703.
This update method was selected and this morning it displayed:
Something went wrong.

Long story short, before a format, I saved my itunes music library (users/my music/iTunes) and now I need to bring it back, but i THINK i need to have the same version of itunes installed first. I have no idea what version I was using before, any ideas how to find out by looking in this folder?

pic for reference:

Answer:I backed up my iTunes music library, but how can I tell what iTunes version?

The latest version will be fine. iTunes is forward compatible, but not backwards compatible. Install iTunes but do not open it (make sure to uncheck to box to launch). Drop the iTunes folder back into My Music, then launch iTunes. It will automatically see your old library and open a new library based off the old one.
