Reopen lost tabs in IE8

Question: Reopen lost tabs in IE8

Hello,

I clicked the X when it asked if it should load previous session and all my IE8 tabs I had open before the crash was lost.
When I open up IE they doesn't reopen. I've tried "reopen last session" from the Tools menu but with no luck.

Seems like they still are stored in AppData\Local\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Recovery\Active (.dat files) but how do I make IE to open them?

Preferred Solution: Reopen lost tabs in IE8

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Reopen lost tabs in IE8

There was a change from IE7 to IE8. Now when you reopen IE, you have to reopen the tabs from your "Favorites" bar. Another good reason to switch to FF.

I've upgraded to Windows 10 and so far so good. I'm not sure if this is a question for W10 or for the Edge browser...? When opening the browser, I used to be able to see the Top Sites visited, and reopen closed tabs, sometimes even the previous session, and also sites visited on my Windows Phone. Now, I only get 'Top sites' and the MSN news feed. So far I can only find settings to set to open new tabs to Top Sites or a blank page. I'd prefer to be able to easily find recently closed tabs rather than searching through history. And being able to see and open sites from Windows Phone was nice, why is that no longer available?

Answer:How can I reopen closed tabs in Edge?

I guess IE11 could sync my desktop with my other devices including my phone. Not seeing any settings for this in Edge.

Is there any way to see what tabs have recently been closed - without searching thru history. I am used to Firefox in Windows 7, which handled this matter directly.

Answer:In Microsoft Edge, how do I find and reopen recently closed tabs?

Hi,

I have lost all my tabs AGAIN!!!, whilst using internet explorer. My laptop just restarted and closed all my tabs to install a windows critical update. I have sometimes pulled my battery from my laptop and when I open up IE I'm greeted with a prompt to either restore previous browsing session as it says that the previous ession closed unexpectedly, so do you want to restore the previous session.

I never received that wonderful prompt but it went straight to my default homepage of google. I tried going to the tools and opening previous session, but it was grey. This is a joke. Why don't IE have a session buddy type saving extension like chrome and firefox have. In my view way better browsers that IE. IE has ben left behind. It looks and feels outdated.

So annoying. I had 70 tabs open. Lost them all and this is the 6th time its has now happened to me this year whilst using IE. Anyway can anyone help me please, to try and restore or get my browsers back??

Thanks

i had 2 instances of firefox open. the second one was a bunch of crap i meant to navigate to when i got the time. i dont have much experience w/ this 'tab grouping' function so i pressed that for the second instance and grouped them all together, hoping that would save on ram.

at some point FF crashed, i think before i grouped them together. after it crashed and i restarted it everything loaded up fine so i dont think that's an issue.

today i went to the grouped tabs in the second FF instance, but when i ungrouped it, it was empty. are these saved anywhere or is it gone for good?

Hi FolksDisaster! I had up to 15 pages open in Firefox as tabs, and had it set to open up each time to "show my windows and tabs from last time".However this time all my tabs are gone! I opened my email and clicked on a link, to go to a page, and when I did it was the only page/tab there! (I read my email first, before opening Firefox, when I log on).I think Firefox recently updated itself. And I also think this happened before. Is there any way (1) to get back my tabs! and (2) to prevent this happening in future. It seems to be something the programmers havent considered.thank youh

Answer:Lost All My Tabs In Firefox

I don't know about your specific problem but, Firefox is quite happy about being re-installed if things go wrong (unlike some other browsers).I would try that in the first instance.

Firefox 2.0 is my browser of choice and I use the tabs extensively. Recently I have had all the tabs disappear and leave a blank screen, but when I close it, the message about the number of open tabs pops up. This usually happens if I click somewhere on an open tab (not on a link). I have searched through the entire menu and the Options choices and cannot find out how to have my tabs reappear. What is happening?

By the way, I downloaded and installed Firefox 3.0 a while back and was totally dissatisfied with the changes made so went back to 2.0.

Answer:Lost tabs in Firefox

I would strongly suggest you update to 3.0.3. It works extremely better than all their previous version and all though you may not be use to the changes, in time you'll find it more and more familiar. I doubt you will find any help for their older version since it's not the latest version.

This happens regularly and really is beginning to annoy me!I have no history (set to 0 days) so I cant go back and just open them again! Is there any other way of recovering them, and better still, of preventing this happening again? Finally would Opera be better as a browser?h

So, basically, I had 175 tabs up because I'm a huge idiot. It makes Firefox really unstable and freeze and crash a lot, and I should have just saved the URLs, but I didn't think it was needed since I have never lost my tabs after countless crashes. I thought they were safe.

However, I was recently downloading a lot of art and a bit were in high res images (around 4k x 3k). It was taking five minutes to load them, which is probably usual for images of that size, but I thought I might try and speed it up. So, I go and clear the cache thinking it might help. I had never cleared my cache before after using Firefox on this PC for years, and...it froze...for fifteen minutes when I hit the clear button. When it finally finishes, I resume downloading the images. They didn't seem to loading much faster. The browser started freezing again a few minutes later though and didn't stop, so I had to close it.

Now, I ran it again and...all my tabs are gone. It is pretty devastating. -_- I didn't think the cache had anything to do with the current tabs that were up. The Restore Previous Session option in History is grayed out and there is nothing in Recently Closed Tabs.

Surely there is some way to recover my tabs or undo the cache clear? Perhaps a system restore would help? I would be forever indebted to anyone that can tell me how to get my tabs back.

I had downloaded the trial copy of Uniblue's registry cleaner. I decided not to buy it, and shut it down. A few days later I noticed I had lost my tabbed browsing feature in IE7. I was also having slow reaction from my DSL, so I shut everything down. When I rebooted, Uniblue launched. I thought I had already uninstalled it, but figuring I hadn't, I went to the control panel and uninstalled it. I also went to the registry to verify there was no longer a folder there. When I launched IE7, I was surprised to see the tabs were back. Could be a coincidence. I'm just glad to have the tabs back.

Answer:IE7 lost tabs until I uninstalled Uniblue

Don't mean to be rude but I hope you've learned a valuable lesson. Never use any registry cleaners, no matter what they say they can do. It's a scam and you'll only render your programs, or even Windows, inoperable.

Downloaded the IE patch for firefox. It works cause I can download updates, etc. I have no tab for IE. or any for that matter. I have an icon in the right side of the page, above the toolbar where the security lock usually appears. It says right click, middle click, left click. I right click, it goes to IE but not a tab. Firefox works like IE does, no tab ,can only go back or forth to previous page. Lost tabs in firefox. I am using the new firefox. 2.0.0. Any ideas or help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. I know I am in the firefox browser cause the icon appears at the very top, when I change into IE, it says internet explorer and the firefox icon in the lower right goes to the blue E for internet explorer and it appears at the very top also.

Every so often when I open my mozilla/firefox browser I discover all our bookmarks have disappeared along with our Tabs. Going to Firefox help it says to go to the Profile manager to check if the profile has changed, but for the life of me I can't access the Profile manager. Consequently we have to redo all the bookmarks which is a royal pain!!! It doesn't happen often, but why is this happening? I'm running XP, AVG anti virus, Spybot, Spywareblaster, and CCleaner. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:mozilla/Firefox lost bookmarks and tabs

First, lets see if we can get you into the Profile Manager. Make sure Firefox is completely shut down, check in the Task Manager "Processes" tab to make sure it's not running in the background. Go to Start > Run, type in firefox.exe -p (and don't leave out the space after exe), the press OK. If that doesn't work try
firefox.exe -profilemanager.

Second, You need to start backing up your Firefox profile. You don't need the Profile Manager for that, and it will allow you to restore the data from a lost or corrupted profile to a new profile. See this article for detailed help: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup

Err might be a stupid question, but I'm building an Access dBase and I have set up 2 subforms on a main form as tabbed pages. I wanted full control of which pages a user could navigate to and removed the tabs (Tab style property to none). I now want to put them back temporarily to edit the set up, but can't find the style option anymore for the main form. How do I put the tabs back? Thanks

Answer:Any Access bods here. Lost tabs on subforms

It is tricky, never done it but just replicated your situation. You always end up selecting Page 1 instead of the Tab Control right - so the tab style never appears as a property?OK, click so that your properties are showing properties for Page 1, then look at the bottom left corner - the black square for selecting is a little bit above the edge. Click beneath it, but still on the page (rather than the form) and your properties for the tab should appear and you can change style back.Failing that it should be possible via VBA but the above works for me.

CD & DVD drives don't have 'recording' tabs!
Help!
OK, here's what is going on. Several weeks ago (don't remember exactly when, mid or late January) I was fooling around & installed some programs so I could convert songs from my phone to a format my computer could read. Didn't work, I uninstalled it.

Then a bit later I downloaded a program to ID music by playing it over speaker into the microphone to id a song. Uninstalled it, too. I know one of these programs (again, don't remember) told me to change my default 'record media from the drive to I think a virtual drive.

Anyway, I think this is what has caused my problem, which is I can no longer get CD-R's to burn. I have a Dell DImension 5100 with Windows XP and when I try to use Media Player to burn songs to a CD, it looks as if it is going thru the process, but doesn't do it. XP and media player recognize the drives and I can play CD's or DVD's, just can't get the computer to remember that yes, these drives are capable of recording.

Also, when I put a blank CD-R into either drive they show under properties to be 'full' and have no space left on them, even though they are new. When I go to 'properties' on both drives, there is no 'recording' tab so I cannot 'enable' recording.

I have Googled around and here is what I have tried to do to fix it.
I used the Microsoft site's suggestion to edit th... Read more

Somehow the task manager has lost the header tabs to move from applications to processes to network. It was there originally.I also lose from time to time my volume control icon, and it doesn't become hidden, itjust disappears completey. To change the volume I have to either go into the control panel/sound and then adjust the volume and leave that open if I need to turn it down. OR reboot and it sometimes comes back. When I go to 'notification Icons" in control panel the icon and letteringfor sound iconis not bold or high lighted but instead it is diminished. I have also seena popup stating that modification will take affect when it (the sound)is activated as a pop up, but can't remember where I saw that happen.Another question I have is...Ihave only one machine, my C:drive has Vista ultimate, all important files are on E,F HD's,removable, orexternal drives. So far so good and am very pleased with everything even with a few bugs. Now I needed to go back to the Vista drive,so I removed the Win7 drive, reinstalled the 40Gig as C and received a prompt stating that ? win logon was not found. So I got the Vista DVD and did a repair which worked. If Win7 doesn't get an update to operate past August 1st and I go back to the 40Gig Vista drive will that happen again? Hi there

I got a virus/trojan of some sort today when an IT technician just had to poke his USB inside my netbook. The immediate effect I noticed was that Google Chrome started opening whatever link I clicked in a new tab, even though I did not press CTRL when clicking. Also, when I clicked the newly opened tab, it instantly closed. I noticed that pressing CTRL + Tab allowed me to swtich between tabs without them closing, so yay for me What was even weirder was that the virus/trojan not only affected Chrome, but also my desktop. I could no longer drag and drop to move files into a folder, and I can't move a single thing on my desktop (they'd return to their original place and not snap onto another grid/column/row).

Then I tried finding a solution, and came across two posts on Google support forums, describing the exact same problem as what I was facing (both were dated 2011):

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=67613fa3ec0a4204&hl=en

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=74626c629a771199&hl=en

After reading, I realised that when I click Other bookmarks on my bookmarks bar, Chrome will ask if I want to open all of my bookmarks in new tabs. Anyway, the solution posted by the supposed "top contributor" was really a big help

So here I am After running HijackThis, DDS, & GMER, the symptoms are finally gone (after running GMER, actually). It says the thing is a rootkit. But I'm not sure if it'... Read more

Hello, I know variations of this question have been asked already, but I'm not finding answers that seem to actually work.
For example, if I click on a link in my Favorites Bar or in my Favorites, they open in the already open tab, not in a new tab.

This is not the case for Firefox; in FF they always open in a new tab. In previous versions of IE there were plugins that enabled this feature, but in IE10, Desktop version, all we seem to have are the tab options in settings. I have tried setting it
to always open in new tabs, and in new a new window, but nothing works.
Please don't mention keyboard shortcuts, as that doesn't seem intuitive; who wants to remind themselves to use the shortcut every time?

And yes, I know I could go back to FF, but I'm not a quitter! I want to like IE10, and I'm willing to give it a chance in spite of a few shortcomings.

Is there a plugin or registry hack to really really really make IE10 ALWAYS open links in new tabs?

Answer:How to ALWAYS open links in new tabs on IE10, desktop version? Settings>Internet Options>Tabs seems incomplete......

Hi,

As far as I know, the behaviors of clicking some links are different due to how they are designed for some websites; there should be some purposes about why they are designed in such
way. There might be no other way to achieve this in Internet Explorer. Please understand that Internet Explorer and Firefox are different, such as on how they are designed and how they work; and Firefox needs an add-on to do this.

In Internet Explorer, there are many shortcut keys to reduce the operations and make it easier to use; I think you can have a try. I would like to share the following with you for your reference:

All that is left is what beginners find - 6 rows of empty files

I work next to a window that allows a lot of sun in, which is a good thing. Unfortunately when I have Excel open, it is often difficult for me to tell the difference between a worksheet with more than one tab selected, which gets awkward when I change a sheet and the changes go to other sheets which I hadn't intended.

I would like to change my excel program so that when I have selected multiple sheets, it is blatently obvious that they've been selected. Either a deeper shade or a shade in a different color.

This is not the same thing as simply changing a tab color, which I don't seem to have the power to do in the worksheets I work with.

Answer:Excel Tabs - Shade Selected Tabs

Not that I have worked with it, but a quick search with Google gives a large number of hits, one of these is the following link

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Excel-1059/Work-Sheet-Tab-Size.htm

Maybe you should start from there, I don't know of other options but I'm sure that other forum usre's may have ideas too.

I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell XPS410. When I close Internet Explorer or Microsoft Outlook, I often (but not always) get a message "Internet Explorer (or Microsoft Outlook) has stopped working" and then the program will reopen by itself. As Outlook reopens, I get a message that it was not closed properly and it's checking for errors, and lately I'm also asked if I want to reopen in Safe Mode. Occasionally I'll get a message that IE has stopped working even when I don't close it myself, and all pages will close.

Not sure if this is a related problem or not, but occasionally I have emails that stay in the outbox even after sending (and stay open on the monitor after I hit "send"), but they also show up in the Sent box, so it's difficult to know if they actually were sent. I believe (but I'm not sure) that it's only happening when they have multiple photos attached, so they are large emails and I'm sending them on a 28.8k dialup modem, if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any help!

Can anybody get me in contact with Acer? I want to reopen my support case because my laptop is starting to die again, even after they "fixed" it.

Because my warranty is supposedly a week out of date I am unable to get in contact with a single person from Acer to tell them to reopen [edited for privacy] because their support clearly did not solve the problem. I am experiencing the exact same problem that led to my needing to send in my laptop. It is worsening and probably going to lead to a huge nasty crash again.

And I have reason to believe that the cause is bad hardware that my Acer Aspire Nitro was shipped with, because THIS time, when I saw the BSODs, I looked them up. I've been receiving a "Kernel Data Inpage Error" which apparently means that my memory or my hard drive is faulty. (And yes, I did the recommended things on that page. Nothing has helped or identified a problem. At all.)

This issue SHOULD be covered under warranty, not only because it is an issue that started during the year of warranty, but ALSO because Acer claimed to have fixed the issue but DID NOT, and ALSO because their warranty clearly states "Acer warrants that its Products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the Limited Warranty Period" and my computer CLEARLY CAME WITH FAULTY HARDWARE.

My SNID is [edited for privacy]. My case is and was [edited for privacy]and I believe I have the right to continued Acer support in this ma... Read more

Answer:I need to reopen an issue with acer

Hi lsilich04,

We have to have some date for the warranty to end, but we certainly aren't interested in leaving you out in the cold less than a week out. I was able to locate your information and the US service team updated the warranty through the end of the month. This will allow you to contact and setup services as needed.

In reading your post, I would have to disagree that a kernel error means a hardware error. The Kernel is part of the core of the Windows operating system and is completely software, when that crashes, it would result in the bluescreens and lockups. When your unit was in originally, I show that memory tests and hard drive tests were done, and a reload of the operating system corrected the issue. Now, after 3 months, you're starting to experience blue screens again, and I would suspect that some corruption has occured in the operating system. With all of this said, I would suggest attempting a recovery first, see how the system behaves. If there was a hardware error, it would also fail during the recovery process.

I'm using safe mode w networking at the moment to get onto the net right now, but in normal mode, I open IE and whilst it will initially load my home page with no problem, after a few seconds it will "Recover" or try to recover the tab, and will do this repeatedly until IE freezes. I've run MBAM and it hasn't helped, and I've tried various troubleshooting processes. The internet connection appears to be OK (I'm using wireless, not LAN). Can anyone help with this? I am using Windows 8 with IE10 and for some weird and wonderful reason, the "reopen last session" is greyed out. I saw on the Windows 7 forum that there was a download fix for that but didn't dare to take that on for Windows 8.
Any ideas as to a simple fix for this snag?

Answer:Reopen last session greyed out

Hello Gloosecap,

The Reopen Last Browsing Session option would only not be grayed out if there was an actual last session to reopen. If you cleared your browser history after closing IE10, then there will be nothing to reopen.

If that wasn't the case, then you could use OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to enable Reopen Last Browsing Session in IE10 to see if that may help.

In a situation where I have a grouped set of windows (Chrome, Skype, EtC.) and have to minimize any of them, it's a hassle to open them again. I can get windows to open the previews by clicking on the group, but anything within the previews won't work. Right click closes previews. Left click closes previews.
Mind you, I can still get to them. Alt+Tab works, as does Super+Tab. It's just annoying to always have to go that way, especially as I'm using two monitors and have my taskbar on the one that makes it less obtrusive.
I can temporarily fix the problem by restarting, but it takes forever, and I just simple don't like having to restart. I will every once in a while, but again, it doesn't fix the problem. It just delays it.

The only potential cause I can figure out is when I do have to close chrome, I tend to do it by ending the task. This ensures I can recover my tabs that I had open. I don't know if this is the cause, but it's the only thing that seems potentially related, simply due to it being done in relative close proximity to the problem showing up.

I've tried restarting the desktop management system (DWM), changing themes, disabling and reenabling grouping. Nothing is fixing it.

Again, I can get by without it... it's just a major annoyance, and a block to productivity.

Also, if it's a single window, clicking on the task bar icon opens the windows. Once it's a group, then I'm screwed.

Hello,

I am in need of some assistance with my IE 10 browser, but the problem only happens while using the default MSN homepage.

After closing the web browser a number of times while on MSN, multiple browsers will suddenly reopen. I have noticed that when the browsers reopen, the url is a little different from the original. Here is an example of what some of the urls might look like below.

MSN.com

But when I change my default homepage to another search engine, such as google, yahoo, or bing, this problem does not occur. It only happens on the msn website.

Just today, I have discovered what is causing the browser to do this and it is the TrueSuiteService application that is part of the HP Simplepass program that is already pre-installed on my laptop. When disabled, the problem no longer occurs. However; when it is enabled, the problem will reoccur after a certain amount of times opening and closing the browser.

Here is a screenshot of the application disabled below.

But, here are two screenshots of all the applications that are enable on startup.

Either way, I am unsure of which direction I should take to solve this matter completely. Please help me.

Thank you for your assistance.

Multiple IE 10 Browsers Reopen After Closing Default Homepage (MSN - Microsoft Community

Quote from the other thread,
I followed the instructions within the clean boot about background applications and it worked. I discovered that the background TrueSuiteService application from HP in the services tab was what was causing the problem. After disabling it, I no longer had multiple browsers opening up. However, it still boggles my mind that how come it would be this application causing this issue? Also I notice that all the HP products are labeled "Hewlett-Packard Company" in the manufacturer status however; the disabled application is only labeled "HP" as the manufacturer? Could this possibly be a hidden virus on my computer? If so, how do I remove it? end of Quote

Hi- I will be very happy if someone can help me olve this mystery-

I'm using windows ME and IE 6.0- when i try to save a jpeg- the only file type that i can save it as- is a bitmap. If I try to open this "bitmap" that I have save to my disk- i get the "download file" dialog box that tells me that I am trying to download the file from my own hard drive- there is no way for me to open the file. Any ideas, anyone?

Thank You!

Answer:IE saves all pics as bitmaps and won't let me reopen them

Can't really help you out much.
But there is a way to save in other formats.
In the name box add the image type to the name.

Like this Mypicture.jpg.
On the box that says file type it does not matter what it says when you add the file type to the name.

Now I have 1000's of .jpg files and only 6 .jpeg files. Some image programs will not open the .jpeg so don't use it. Use the .jpg.

Where are you getting these images from?
Are you sure you saved them as a image file or did you save the link to the images?

I just wrote a long post and it disappeared while trying to run that spell check on it. Very annoying.

Here, again, is my problem:

When I close IE 8 or 9 with several tabs open, and later reopen it, the option to reopen or restore the last browsing session is ALWAYS grayed out in both the menu under Tools and on the New Tab pages.

I had a nasty rootkit infection of volsnap.sys that was mostly affecting IE, which was detected and removed by ComboFix with help from MajorGeeks, just a week or two ago.

Since it was always changing the mischief it did, mostly regarding IE, I suspect that "part of it" is still on my machine.

A MS support forum led me through several steps to try to fix this, including uninstalling and reinstalling IE 9. Then they gave up and said I had to reformat my HD and reinstall my OS. I suspect that wouldn't be enough...

I really depend on this function, and have used IE for many, many years, and don't want to switch browsers. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance,
Barb

Answer:reopen last browsing session grayed out in IE

Reformatting and reinstalling your OS most definitely will get rid of any nasties present on your system. If you do a clean install, as suggested, I'll be your browser's behavior returns to normal.

Hello,
I am a network admin deploying Windows Server 2008r2 with Internet Explorer 9 as terminal servers, I am having trouble with an ActiveX element in one of our internal pages. The page requests the CAB file with three files being an INF, OCX &
a DLL.
Running the page as an Administrator. Opening the page for the first time, IE hangs as it gets the CAB file and then will present UAC to allow it to install the ActiveX as an Add On for IE. Each time you come to the page after it will work fine.
Running the page as a user, Every time the user access the page after logging on IE hangs and then will put a red cross in the ActiveX section of the page. If you then close and reopen IE it will then allow the ActiveX element of the page to work fine. The
issue is that the user would have to do this each time they logged on.

Why does the page not work first time the users access the page?
Regards,
Mark

Flaviu.

Answer:Reopen closed tab not working anymore

I would think it's the OS and probably not your PC. I've been having more problems and glitches than ever after the recent updates, especially with Edge. I totally reset my PC, reinstalled everything manually and all was good for about 10 days but now all of a sudden Edge has gone weird again and non of the extensions will work.... AGAIN!.... I love Windows 10 but my patience is getting very thin after constant glitches on production updates as I use it for my work/business. I've actually had fewer problems with W10M on both production and insider releases...

For example, if I use the show desktop button on bottom right of taskbar, it minimizes all windows. If I then open up one window, normally just that window opens, however if there was a fullscreen/borderless windowed application running as well, it will also restore that window. Any way to prevent this?

I have Windows 8.1 using IE11 and I am unable to reopen browsing history. It is always gray shaded. It doesn't matter how I close it or if I reboot. If I close IE and reboot, it's gray shaded. If I don't close every tab - just leave them all open and close IE - then open IE again without restarting, it is gray shaded.

I seen some other posts about this that aren't quite the same problem (and/or haven't been resolved) and someone mentioned that it's gray shaded because there is no browsing history to reopen. Trust me, there is. I don't delete my browsing history after each session. Besides, everything is in my history folder - my browsing history is just fine. I just can't reopen previous sessions.

I have not been able to find help anywhere so I thought I'd finally ask.

I just downloaded internet explorer 9. Previously, I was using IE8. Every day, when ie8 would open up (it would load automatically at startup from AOL IM), I would go to Tools -> Reopen last browsing session, and all the tabs and pages I had open when I closed my previous session would load (though in reverse order left to right, annoyingly).

Now that I'm running IE9, when I go to Tools -> Reopen last browsing session, the option is greyed out - it does not work. The only time it works is if I close IE9 and then reopen the browser without rebooting. If I reboot, which I do every day, the option is not available like it used to be in IE8. (Seems like every time I download an updated version of anything anymore, something inevitably stops working or is worse than it was before - this soooo tiresome.)

I've tried a regedit I found somewhere on these forums - setting for 'turn off reopen last browsing session' to 'disable'. Didn't work.

I do not have IE9 set to delete my browsing history on exit.

I have the box checked for Automatically recover from page layout errors with compatibility view.

So, currently I'm out of ideas - can't find anything else.

I would really appreciate it if anyone who knows what is going on with this could share.

Answer:IE9 Reopen Last Browsing Session option is not working

So does anyone else have this problem? Since the Reopen Last Browsing Session is kind of a deal breaker, I would have thought that there'd be a fix by now. But maybe the fix is to uninstall IE9 afterall. So much for IE9. Firefox and Chrome do this anyway, correctly, even WITHOUT having to select an option. I'd skip IE altogether if I didn't need it for work.

I have a Dell LatitudeD400 with Windows XP. Whenever I close my laptop to do something for a short time (with it still being on)- and reopen it- is flashes a blue screen for short time (short enough that I cant see what it says) - and then it restarts. The computer works fine and it has been doing this since I got it two years ago.

If I go to Standby manually, by going to start->shut down computer->standby it works fine. I just have to leave the lid open the whole time and when I press the power button, type my password, and all is well. No idea what is going on...

Answer:[SOLVED] Laptop restarts (bluescreen) when I reopen it

Once it has finished running zip the folder TSF_XP_Support which can be found in your Documents folder.

When I look at the resident processes I can see several examples of Outlook, Word and zclient still resident.
I think this has started to occur since I installed Windows XP service pack 3, but I'm not entirely sure.

You could try IE Reset, "IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset button". You lose your add-ons but they soon come back with usage. Your favorites etc are retained. Is this only on one webpage? If so give us the link in case that tells us something. If you have an alternative browser does it happen on there too?I suppose malware is a vague possibility but it doesn't obviously fit the symptoms.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi,
i often find myself closing a web page, then a little later that same session reopening it. Then, as i mainly rely on tethering my phone to my PC for internet, and have only a 2 GB data plan (which is all i can afford), i get concerned about whether each re-opening of a same page doubles its data consumption. (I searched the internet for any answers but could not find any. And the whole world of internet logistics is hopelessly baffling for me to attempt, though i spend countless hours trying!))

Thanks so much for any answers!

I have tried upgrading from IE9 to 11 on both my Windows 7 computers. One worked with no problems, but the other gives repeated problems despite trying a number of things. I have uninstalled and reinstalled four or five times but the problems remain.
1. History gets wiped out and remains blank no matter how many sites I visit.
2. I have to re-enter user name/password every time I leave a site and return
3. If I click new tab it is always blank and the option to reopen last session is greyed out

I even tried IE10 but had the same problems.

I am uusing Internet Explorer 11 with Windows 7 Ultimate and have been getting the error message: "A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab." on a variety of websites. At the suggestion of some troubleshooting sites I have uninstalled Silverlight and reinstalled it --- this seems to make a temporary fix, but in a couple of days the problem returns. I have done the same with JAVA with no change.
The problem seems to reside in Internet Explorer, since it does not occur with I use Firefox. Anyway, the error slows down my computer when using the web.

Answer:Windows live mail wont reopen a second tine

*Taken from click here It generally occurs when the send option "Upload Larger Images to the Web When Sending a Photo E-mail" is *un-checked*, but it does not usually manifest until a new compose window, or a saved draft has been opened. This option is available only when you are signed in, but if it is un-checked it still causes the shutdown bug even when not signed in. So make sure the option "Upload Larger Images to the Web When Sending a Photo E-mail" is *checked* at: Tools->Options->Send [tab] (available only when signed into Windows Live through WLMail). However, if you do find that "Upload Larger Images to the Web When Sending a Photo E-mail" is actually checked (which it is by default), then just uncheck it and click "Apply", then check it again and click "Apply" again. Some have had to do that to fix their WLMail shut down bug that was occurring despite that option having never been unchecked.

Hey everyone,

I'm a college kid who has been having major issues with my laptop, I'm desperate for some help.

The problems:
My Wifi cuts out at random, and after that my laptop won't reconnect- or connect to any wifi- until I either close the lid, wait for the green light to go off, then reopen, or I restart. This always temporarily fixes the problem. (This actually happened when I first tried to submit this post, so I have to retype the whole thing . This happens within anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours from when I reconnect to wifi, and it seems to be somewhat correlated to me opening new tabs (or submitting a new post ). I don't use my laptop for anything other than casual browsing and school work, so I don't have any weird programs that might cause this. No single event started this, but it's been happening for months. I'd really appreciate any help.

Hey, so, I have a strange problem. I'm running firefox 3.6.13. Every once in a while (once or maybe twice a day) when I'm just browsing or whatever a ton new tabs will start opening to youtube homepage. There seems to be no particular cause or time when it happens... just random. Tab after tab after tab, and even when I close them, more will open. This goes on for a few minutes, then stops.

Could this be a firefox problem, or a virus or something else?

Thanks for your help.

Do the youtube pages start appearing when you're on a particular site or click a bookmark?
