I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome back to TSF

Have you cleared the cache?

Download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet.

*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files
Cleanup! All Users
Click on the ?Temporary Files? and uncheck the box for ?Scan drives for file matching? if it?s checked.
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.

Answer:Solved: Browsers will not load microsoft website but will load FB, Google etc etc

Either it's a problem server side for them, which would be an issue with your IP,
or a process/service altered some of your core system settings on your end which blocks the microsoft website for some reason....., you can try a different IP address just to make sure it's not server side for them, and then if that doesn't work I am not sure what to tell you other than reinstalling all browsers, and eventually refromatting if reinstalling browsers does not work.

IF it is an IP issue it could be something with your network, if a network admin blocked the microsoft website, or even theoretically your ISP if there was a strange issue with them, however that would be rare.

Question: browsers wont load

Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera won't load. Chrome will. When Firefox is "loaded" it is in the list of processes on CTRl Alt delete, but nothing is on the screen even after Alt-Tab. I have run chkdsk - no change. What is the cure please?

Answer:browsers wont load

My first thought would be a malware attack. Using your working browser download Malwarebytes (the free version) - update it and then run in safe mode. Remove anything it finds. Available from click here

I have a friend's computer that is having problems loading any type of Web browser, along with most internet applications.

They are able to log onto msn messenger, yet games that require internet activity they cannot.

They are able to ping websites perfectly fine.

I did find this in the host file
127.0.0.1 jL.chura.pl
which i erased and changed back to
127.0.0.1 localhost

Any suggestions?

Answer:Internet Browsers, wont load...

Hi, the first thing i could think of is bad browser configuration or Malware.
Make sure that pc has antivirus and antispyware check if you can update and perform a full scan.

Then switch on pc, keep pressing f8, choose safe mode, log in as administrator
now Can you access the internet
Also in safe
click start then run type
inetcpl.cpl, click connection, then lan settings, make sure automatically detect settings i set, and make sure proxy server is not enabled.

Also find the firewall, in control panel, and temporary disable it.

Hi having real problem with my wife's computer here. Google search page wont even load. My laptop is fine but hers is terrible. We both use wifi and no problems until the other day when I removed a hijacker for her and then defragged. I just noticed "configfree" in her toolbar next to her wifi icon and did some research on that and many said its a pain in the arse so I removed it. But still no luck. Any suggestions would be cool.

Hi Belcant2 and welcome to BleepingComputer!  Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".The tool will open and start scanning your system. Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications. On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message. I am so running out of ideas.  Its driving me bonkers.

I am unable to load one specific website(atleast so far).  It wont load on any browser or any computer on my network.  Even if i bypass my router and directly connect to my modem, it will not load.  But I know the website is online because other people I know can access it fine.

Site:
angel.gtarcade.com (its a browser game)

Troubleshooting:
bypassed router (hard wired modem to computer)rebooted computerrebooted modem and routerdns flush (ipconfig /flushdns)netsh winsock reset
reset browsers to default

HOWEVER!  If I load this with torbrowser the initial website itself loads just fine. It of course wont load the game because of the security settings in torbrowser (which I could bypass if I chose but what would be the point from there?)

Iv gotten a pesky worm or some spam program and than had it removed with another program that searched it and got rid of it nicely. After that I think there’s something wrong with browsers since they don't load any pages but only in safe mode they do. Everything else such as streaming P2P programs seem to work. I tried both Explorer and FireFox.

Answer:Browsers wont load page but everything else connects

No difference.
I did not have System Restore On during infection and removal. Plus during removal it was suggested to keep i toff, so System Restore wouldn't play much of a part here since I dought itl have a previous good time to restore to.

The removal program I used was Smitfraudfix.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic58415.html
The infection was "SpyGuard" that was installed through ActiveX maybe or Explorer at least from some website.
So Im not sure if its Port 80 or what thats blocked...
Just browsing wont load pages, cuz its waiting for a reply...
Other connections seem fine.
I un-installed MCAfee's SecurityCentre Firewall and no help.
I tried LSPFix, but no difference.
Only Safe Mode can browse pages.

I have no idea what this is, I have cleaned my registry from CCleaner, Ran my antivirus, rebooted, I have basically tried everything.

Many pages just keeps on going in an endless loop.

A few examples:

Images from Imgur.com
Images from Tinypic.com
Download page for Microsoft Security Essentials

And a lot of other webpages. This is really starting to piss me off.

All webpages actually has that endless loadloop unless I stop the loading, doesnt matter if the page is done loading, its still there.

Any help to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Answer:Browsers Wont Load Half The Pages, Maybe DNS Problem?

From an admin account, open a command prompt.

type ipconfig /flushdns

See if flushing DNS improves things...You could also change your DNS setting if your ISP's name server is less than wonderful:
See http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/a/free-public-dns-servers.htm for a list of alternatives...

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

Details:
- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

Thanks!
Alec

Answer:Firefox can't load Google/youtube/FB but other browsers can

Try this, open up command prompt(cmd)on run box for XP or type cmd in Vista/Win 7 system on your search programs and files box. Type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter. Try launching your Firefox browser and then check the difference. There will be a space between g and /.

Lately, whenever i want to visit any web page, the browsers won't load it properly. On google chrome it said that sometimes "unable to connect to internet", and whenever it is loaded it loads jumbled on the first few times. After refreshing or reloading the slow page several times, it loads properly but still slow.

I did some reading here beforehand, and i ran CCleaner and cleaned the cache and all, but nothing worked. I thought it was my Avast! but when i turned it off it doesn't have any effects at all. I know this is not my connection's fault because when i try loading some pages in another devices like my tablet or phone with my wi-fi it worked just fine. Been like this for like a month or so.
Any thoughts?
Any response is appreciated.

Hello and welcome Timot I cannot find the support page for that machine you have listed - not being funny but that is the correct model??
To me it sounds like either a driver or system error. I have these from time to time and have used fixes like rebooting the modem checking the network drver Ethernet or wifi but the first oen I go for is this and it is so simple and sually works

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html < do first but the next one chkdsk is the usual fixer for me

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < use the /f and /r options in Option2 if necessary

I shall be interested in what you find as I am about to get the G750JM ROG

Installed Chrome on friends laptop (hoping that temporarly it might give less problems than ie is). Installation works fine but when it opens, it says New Tab up top, but bottom is blank & it wont even attempt to go to ANY .com. Ive tried reinstalling, etc just in case, to no avail.

I went ahead & attached the dds, etc so hopefully someone will be kind enough to tell me what in the heck is wrong or blocking it or whatever.

Thank you VERY much for your time & assistance.

P.S. there are other B.S. problems with this laptop right now (including since yesterday alot of Google, yahoo, etc search links redirect to the random B.S. sites), so if you happen to notice any other major problems on the dds/attach, please let me know too. Thank you!

Hello
After a fresh windows install,
I get warnings like 'your connection is not private' when I try to view webpages on Google chrome, and 'there's a problem with this website certificate' when using internet explorer.
Also, some webpages dont display very well, the pictures are missing and the text layout is wrong.
I set my clock to the right time, it was wrong, but I rectified it.
But I'm still getting these problems
I'm running windows 7 ultimate x64

Any ideas?
Thanks, the Venerable

I just restarted my system and it looks like neither Mozilla or IE can start. Minutes ago they were working just fine. Opera works just fine but when I try opening Internet Explorer I just get a blank page and when I try typing an address it goes unresponsive. Mozilla doesn't even open a window. It does show up as a process but not as an application. I just connected my phone via USB and tinkered around a little bit trying to get it to work but couldn't in the seconds in between the browsers working and not working. I'm stumped. If it's a virus, why is Opera unaffected. And why is it affecting IE and Mozilla in different ways? I reinstalled IE but it's doing the same...
Please this is driving me crazy!

Edit: Just finished a quick scan with AVG and it found no infections...I'm stumped...

Question: google wont load

helping a frienmd with his computer... think i have it fixed but cannot gert google to load in internet explorer... ninemsn loads ok.. but any thing trying to go to google fails.... Help :(

Answer:google wont load

there's a super common effect of all the viruses going around which rewrites your hosts file to mess with google. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and open the hosts file with notepad and see if there's anything listed there other than 127.0.0.1 localhost

Also, go to the start menu then Run then type cmd and hit Ok then type:

ping google.com and see what IP address the reply came from. It will say Reply from: 72.14.204.99 for example and we can check if your computer is correctly resolving to a server actually owned by Google.

Question: Google Wont Load

I have moved and have BellSouth dsl and everything works except google.com, haha. So i cant login to adsense or use the search or gmail It brings me to "Incorrect password for bellsouth" and redirects me etc, yet every other thing works.

I am afraid to change the password again, who knows who I'll talk to overseas and if they know what they are doing Changing the password is like russian roulette with this company

Anyone have this problem? I tried downloading the ActiveX password changer but It didn't do anything --I have JScript on and did it in IE6 so it would load.

Anyone know what im talking about?? lol

Answer:Google Wont Load

What "password" are you referring to?

Try this. Go to Start > Run... or press Ctrl + R and paste in this command:

C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc\HOSTS

Once Notepad opens copy and paste the contents here. Also, what happens if you visit http://209.85.173.104/? (It's the Google English IP Address.)

Question: Google wont load.

Google will not open on my desktop on Firefox or IE. I run Windows XP.The error that it gives is: "404 No Found. nginx"Any help will be appreciated, thanks!EDIT: I also have another problem to add: Sometimes my computer does not start up properly. Hello, lets start with some info and a quick scan. Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it. Checkmark the following checkboxes: Flush DNS Report IE Proxy Settings Reset IE Proxy Settings Report FF Proxy Settings Reset FF Proxy Settings List content of Hosts List IP configuration List Winsock Entries List last 10 Event Viewer log List Installed Programs List Users, Partitions and Memory size.Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run. Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Important!! When you save the mbam-setup file, rename it to something random (such as 123abc.exe) before beginning the download.Malwarebytes may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet and double-click on the renamed file to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.Malwarebytes will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will ... Google.com and Gmail wont load. any other site that is redirected from any google site also doesn't load. It doesn't work in Firefox on internet explorer? any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer:Google wont load

First try disabling your firewall and seeing if you can get to those 2 sites. BUT ONLY go there. This will tell you if its the firewall blocking them. After this test re enable the firewall.

Issue:
There is one specific website that will not completely load for me in Firefox, and will not load at all in Chrome, but will load and function perfectly fine in the other browsers on my system.
It behaves the same way on my wife's computer, and the site has never been visited on that computer until I started troubleshooting this issue - so it's not a case of bad cookies or other cache problems.
I've asked friends and family to try the site and they say it's fine!

The website is www.55productionz.com.

Symptoms:
When I go there in Firefox (both 3.x and 4 beta), only half or less of the page will load, and the site is basically unusable because I can't log in or view much of anything.
When I go there in Chrome, I get this error:

Hi. . .

Welcome to TSF!

I cannot speak towards your HiJackThis log at this time. However, could you please be more specific as to the reason that Vista won't load in normal mode? Are there any error codes or screens that come up?

Have you viewed the event viewer for the time period surrounding a normal boot-up?

google wont load on firefox or internet explorer. Scanned with AVG, COMODO, SuperAntiSpyware, and Spybot Search and Destroy, also QHOST removal tool. Nothing comes up. Did a system restore, to no avail. If the IP address for google is typed in the page itself will load, but when I type anything into the search box, the same message comes up. The connection has timed out The server at www.google.com is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web. I have had my internet providers here to check the lines and all that, they are fine.

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do not "Fix" anything
For Windows 7 and Vista:

If Windows is denying access to the Hosts file, disable the UAC and run HijackThis again.

Might be a malware infection, a common cause for Google Search not opening. Info here: http://www.brighthub.com/internet/s...If you can't find any evidence of malware, it can often be difficult to find, let alone get rid of it. Please post on the Security and Virus forum if you want sound advice on how to check for it thoroughly: http://www.computing.net/forum/secu...

I have a new laptop I got for Christmas, an Intel Core i5 which is supposed to be a fast machine. It runs on Windows 8.1. It had the free McAfee virus checker trial on it until that expired and I loaded Avast about three weeks ago. Since then it's been like treacle. It boots up quickly but the browsers now take ages to load! I had Virgin check our broadband speed and they said it was fine, though I did a speed check and was only getting 8 mb. I read that Avast could slow down the browsers so I disabled it from both Firefox and IE but they still take a while to load and only work if I restart the laptop which is a damn nuisance.

What could be the problem? Is it Avast or Windows 8.1? My money's on Avast but it's a good virus checker

Answer:Solved: Laptop with Windows 8.1: Browsers Take An Age To Load!

Did you uninstall McAfee? Download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool Use it to uninstall McAfee. Restart the system and see if thing speedup.

Ok, so first off i wanna say ive read and tried the sticky on google redirects, as well as searched this forum and many others without really finding anyone with the exact problem i have. Ive been at this for days and can't seem to find a fix. Heres hopin someone here can help.

So first this started off as a redirecting problem in internet explorer only when i clicked links, if i used firefox or google chrome this did not happen. It then began happening no matter the browser i used or seach engine.

It only occurred when clicking links, if i entered the adress in my adress bar it was all good. The problem has now changed again and now seems to soley target google home page and serches.

http://www.google.com or any searches refuse to load in any browser, i get a 504 gateway error aftter a while. I can go to the msn homepage and seach with bing(id just rather use google.com) and i now have problems with redirects ven if i use the adress bar. This last bit just happened and is what promted me to ask for help.

I have 4 other computers in the house with 0 problems, this one just refuses to use google and i cant figure out why, no scans show any errors, and i cant find anything online that matches the last part of the problem.

please help

Answer:google wont load and redirects problem

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

**** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.
After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user... Read more

Alright, i got a huge problem with my Toshiba Laptop P300 with XP Professional installed.

Sites like Google, Youtube, Altavista, Facebook does not load, nothing happens when i try to do a google search or visit facebook, nothing happens.

I have tried various firewall settings, spyware and virus removals, and various security levels etc etc.

Sites like this one works, MSN, MSN Seach, Steam works.. newspaper sites works etc.

I have no idea what to do about this, ive tried on both wireless and cable, i have even tried another internet distrubutor, but the results are the same.
Ive also tried Firefox, and Internet Explorer with no luck, also upgraded windows to SP 3.

When i restored my firewall to default settings, i could do a google search, but after 5 seconds i couldnt do a new search.

Please help, i need this to work.

So the other day I get on the computer and Microsoft Security Essentials says that there are some things it could not remove and to download this other program (from Microsoft) to finish the job. So I did that and it said it was all cleaned. So I restart it again and run a quick scan just to be sure and I get the same thing over again. Every time I run a quick scan, it keeps saying it removed trojans and exploits and backdoors. The same ones are either coming back or not there or were never there.

Performance wise, the only thing it's causing problems with is web browsing (so far, I know these things can get worse). If you go to search in google, sometimes:

the search won't load at all
you can click one of the results and it will take you to another search engine instead
you can click on one of the results and it takes you to a "404 Not Found | nginx" page

And some addresses you can type in and it immediately says 'server not found' while it works on another computer. It seems to only do it in firefox because it will work in Chrome.

When I run malwarebytes, it gives me a list of things (things I swear I clicked remove before) but one of the files it shows infected is a system32 file (sytem32/grpconv.exe) and I wasn't sure if I should remove that one.

Also, if you tell me to run combofix, before you do so can you advise me on the fact that even though I know without a doubt that both norton and microsoft have realtime protection disabled (be... Read more

So i decided to just do a whole clean installation with windows vista because i heard that this will remove spyware, trojan, adware etc. But i think i might be a little too late. I can successfully boot from the windows cd and install windows vista after deleting the disk drive and formatting it. After that was done, theres a message that says windows is preparing to take action for the first time (something like that). I get to the logo where that green tool bar that slides to the right continuously and after that my monitor says no signal. Ive tried resetting the bios. I cant go into safe mode because windows haven't completed the installation. Ive tried startup repair recovery. OS operated successfully at the end of the report. The nub that i am, i totally erased all my system restore points. I cant go onto the log on screen because it wont complete the installation. Now im using my laptop to post this forum. Can any one help.

Hello -

Since you've begun a reinstall process and that seems to be having some troubles, your issue will be better addressed here in the Windows Vista section of the forum, where I've moved your topic.

Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.

Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.

Now
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying  "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"

The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"

I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

Answer:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

This problem has just recentley happened on my Windows 7 64-bit and i don't know whats caused it. Java used to work fine but now whenever i use a website with java on it, my browser crashes instantly, locks up and says not responding (i have tried 5 different browsers)

Games work fine, such as minecraft and runescape if ran from their applets instead of a browser.

I cannot open my java control panel as it presents me with this error

I have tried reinstalling and installing java 6 and java 7 multiple times.

Entering "javaws -viewer" into command prompt is the only way to access my java control panel

Answer:[SOLVED] Java Crashes browsers and its control panel wont open

Go to Control Panel>Programs and Features uninstall Java. Download the newest version here then install.

Hi,
I have a dell XPS laptop running windows vista. The other day I was looking at a webpage when the machine froze. I pressed the on/off button and held it down for about 8 seconds to manually reboot it. When I switched it back on again I had the option to either 'repair the computer' or 'boot windows normally'. I cant remember which one I chose first but whichever one I choose it goes to a blank screen with a loading bar at the bottom, what would usually appear next would be the windows logo then it would all start up.

The windows logo does not appear and after a while the loading bar disappears and I'm left with a totaly black screen. How can I fix this?

Okay, so I finally got about 90% of the software on my desktop the way I want it, but now it wont load up! All I get is this long loadup thing; you know, when you turn it on, there is this green bar that goes back and forth only this time, it wont stop. I tried running the computer in safe mode, normal mode, same problem. When I try to reinstall Vista Ultimate 32, all I get is this 'please wait...' message. I even tried to repair, stayed up all night, and it was still repairing! I remember last time I repaired my computer, I had to take out the GRUB loader that Linux was nice enough to leave around, and I had to type in some sort of 'command' for the pc to repair correctly; is there a similar command I have to do to fix this?

The only thing I didn't do yet is try to install another OS. Also, this happened like right after I looked into my computer. All I touched was that very wide thing that connects the DVDRW burner to the motherboard. I diconnected it, and put it back exactly as I found it. I don't see how it could effect my desktop, though.

I have a 1 1/2 year old Compaq Presario SR2180NX with Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I have no recovery disk.

I posted this thread http://forums.techguy.org/malware-r...s/881478-malwarebytes-other-issues-again.html last November but never got a reply so figured I possibly posted in the wrong section. I apologise in advance for posting a new thread but I thought I had fix my problem with Malwarebytes but it seems to not be the case.

I reinstalled Malwarebytes the other day and finally scanned with it. Nothing was found. I went to do a quick scan this morning since I had a pop up from Comodo in regards to the google toolbar trying to write a new file. I had used IE for a couple minutes this morning to try to log onto my ISP email. Anyway, I went into my programs and uninstalled googletoolbar which seems to have installed on 3/3/10 which is yesterday.

When I went to run a scan with Malwarebytes, it comes up with a box saying that "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the items."

Trying to open it or run as administration gets the same box. I really would appreciate some kind of help.

I am using Comodo Firewall, Avira anti-virus, SuperAntiSpyware and SpywareBlaster.

Hi All,

I dont know if any one will be able to help me but thought I would give it a tryn.

Here is the story.

I have a desktop and my wife has a laptop. I, not knowing much about computers, posted a thread in the network forums to get help setting up a home network for us for when she is home.

After getting the network set up everything was working fine. My wife went to bed so I done some updates on her laptop. Windows updates and driver updates.

Well she took the laptop to work with her the next day and when she went to log in..it started loading her personal settings and then got a warning saying that windows was unable to load the stored personal profile. Possible causes are insuffucent security rights or corrupt personal profile. I posted this problem in my thread n the network forum since i thought maybe it had something to do with just setting up the home network.

Got a reply that basicly said i would need to delete and create a new profile. So i thought I would use system restore and then just go through the network setup again.

This worked fine except now I can not get ITune to load. I double click on the desktop short cut and get a message saying "ITunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovience. Send error repot to microsoft or dont send."

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times and still no luck getting it to work. Have tried redownloading thinking I got a bad download. Still no luck.

Ok so a few days ago i log on and was going through some of my favourite websites etc. When i come across that one wont load, i ask a few friends if the website was down and it wasnt. I done a virus scan and spyware scan, deleted my inter history, temporary files and cookies, but the problem was still the same. The main site that wont work is google search but i can use live search. The thing i found interesting was that i could access all the "broken" websites through a proxy server. Another thing is i think this *virus* is changing some images and advertisements to "Warning - Spyware" or "Congratulations 1,000,000th user" etc. (Only thing that makes me think that its changing the images and advertisements is because ive seen "Warning - Spyware" etc. a lot unusaully and i tried loading a ytmnd page and the same "Warning - Spyware" image came up.)

(I wasnt too sure what forum to put this, but this seemed the best place)

Help much appreciated,
~DRB

**Update**: Ok downloaded Safari (instead of using firefox,IE and Opera) and the websites seem to be working, but IE and firefox are still not loading these sites.

Hi,
So here is my problem, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was turning on my laptop but realised i had to be somewhere else at that time and needed to leave so in a silly rush i just as it was loading i held the power button so it shut down (I know that is a terrible thing to do but was in a rush and wasnt thinking clearly) and now when i turn it on it load but it gets the screen that is all black with only the mouse cursor showing and stops there and does not load to the log in screen. Anyway to fix this without a fresh install as i have documents on there i really cant afford to lose.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545

Try clearing your browser cache to get rid of corrupted local copies of the page.

To clear the cache in Google Chrome
* Click on the spanner in the top right corner.
* Click Tools.
* Click the menu entry "Clear Browsing Data"
* Change the dropdown to "everything"
* Ensure that "Empty the cache" is checked.
* To avoid losing anything you might want to keep, uncheck everything else for the moment.
* Click the button "Clear Browsing Data".

Hi I am a firefox user For the last couple of days I can't get it to load. I deleted Reminderfox about that time and installed Essential IPIM (Free Version) in its place. When I deleted ReminderFox I may have deleted parts of FF as well. I have since deleted and re-installed FF but this has not helped. Any ideas?

Answer:Solved: Firefox wont load

This probably messed up your firefox profile, which in turn could be why firefox will not load. Read through this link here to set up a new profile to see if that works.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Let us know how it goes ; )

EDIT : Just remembered, before you do that see if it firefox boots up with add-ons disabled, to do this start hold down the shift key while starting Firefox, and see if it runs if it does try disabling add-ons in safe mode then re-enable one at a time until you find the one that is causing the issue, then remove it.

Hello. I have a Dell Insperon Pentium 4 3.2 1024gig memory and dont know to much more about it right now! I am a over the road trucker and that computer is at home.
The problem we are having is that we just moved to a place that is out of the cities and had to use dial up for the first time on this computer and that started a whole lot of issues. It started to log on and would blue screen and say something about a physical memory dump. I tried a bunch of stuff to no avail. So I finally did a bios restore default and it started working.
So great. But tonight my wife was having the same issue with it blue screening and i had her try the default setting thing it the bios and now its screwed up. When windows tries to start it doesnt and we get a message saying missing or corrupt file and it is the windows\system32\cofig\system. Can someone help me. I figured we could put the windows cd back into the drive but guess what we have none. So now what? Can anyone help. sorry I am so vague, but i am in new york right now and that computer is back in pine city,mn at my house. Thanks

Answer:[SOLVED] Operating system wont load.

well the blue screen issue sounds like a memory problem, if you could get your hands on another stick it would be a whole lot easier the reinstalling windows. as for not having the cd, you might be able to go to a computer store and have them install it using your cd key.

I wonder if somebody could help me get scrabble working on facebook to reduce the effects of my mothers severe scrabble withdrawal symptoms

I am running windows XP with IE7 and scrabble has worked perfectly for the past 2 years or so. Last week she had a pop up on the scrabble loading page with the following message:

Adobe flash player settings
Local storage fb-cdn.ghsrv.com is requesting permission to store info on your computer
Requested:up to 1mb
currently used:100kb

allow or deny.

After she clicked deny scrabble would no longer work. The normal green scrabble loading icon will appear but no advertisement and after 30 seconds or so a plain white screen will appear. This repeatedly happens. It will not work through firefox either. Scrabble works on the other network pc in the house so I am pretty convinced it is a pc issue and not the website

The latest version of flash player is installed. Anybody have any ideas?

Hello.
My Pc is an amd athlon 64, 322+, 2.1ghz with 448 mb of ram. Its a windows xp 2002 home edition with service pack 2.

My computer works fine with no problems except this one.
Recently we found a trojan and a trojan backdoor downloader! we have completly removed these and use counterspy & avg for our protection.

The problem we now have is any program we use which uses the folder 'My Documents' runs stupendously slow and sometimes freezes. 'My Documents' itself can take 20 mins to start, if it does. If it opens, opening anything inside my documents is impossible. I cannot burn anything off from my documents in nero as it freezes & sending anything on msn from my documents also has the same effects, so as you can anything linked to the folder or uses anything from the folder 'My Documents' dosent work.

Can anyone please help as we have years of photos and music on our pc and would hate to lose it all.

Im not sure if this is in the right forums, so if its not, please point me in the right direction.

I had to do a reformat yesterday, because of a corrupt XP file, and now that everything is up and running again, my net wont allow me to go to the most common pages that I went to before the reformat. This occurs in both IE6 and FF.
These include:

www.bebo.com
www.nihilum.eu
www.worldofwarcraft.com (note: with this one, I can follow a link off google to go to the forums, but the main site wont work.)

The sites are all still up, and the other computer on my network can still access all these sites, so I dont think it would be my net thats the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

I have posted on another site for help but I am getting slow answers and I want to get more or better feed back.

My computer crashed last night and failed a physical memory dump. It will no longer load appropriately, in that it takes 15 minutes to load safe mode or regular. It has a click then beep in a very consistent pattern. it is not rapid but consistent, this only occurs when trying to boot the computer. When I do get the computer to load in safe mode or regular it no longer shows my files, images, applications, and documents. Instead, it shows an NPR-User with basic factory style programs such as CTest. However, when I go into the start menu and click computer the hard drive shows the exact amount of free space as when i was using my computer before the crash. WIth advice from the other site I have created an ubuntu cd and selected the Try It option. It can not recover any files as it only shows the NPR-User and Ctest files. I am a college student, I dont do anything ridiculous with my laptop, I need it for school, and I need help.

Hi and welcome to TSF,

You have no backups at all?

You can try unhide it may be able to recover the files if hidden link below:
Unhide.exe - A introduction as to what this program does

Backup immediately if files are recovered.

If you go to the driver update pages for your toshiba on their website it may have an update for your hdd firmware.

Some seagate drives have suffered from this and update is all that is required to eliminate only known it on dell studio's tho.

You have checked the second hdd to see if any important data is on there?

The bar under the Quicktime player plugin of my Firefox 3.0.8 won't display. You know, the bar that shows the volume and the rest. I have Windows Vista 64-bit. The picture and audio play fine, though. It's always been like this, but I've been too lazy to try to fix it. Searching Google was of no use, so I found this site. Anyone have any suggestions?

Answer:Missing QuickTime controls in web browsers [moved from Mac]

I can try to help you, but this is the Mac forum. You should be in the Firefox forum 1st, then Windows Vista if they couldn't help.

Is it that way on all sites? Is it that way in all web browsers?

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop 1545 that belongs to a friend of mine and it wont get past the white flashing cursor. I've tried everything I could think of to get this thing to boot up. I looked up on here and seen where a similar problem had occurred and the problem was the partition wasn't set right. I tried to set the partition using and old Windows PE disk I have, since I don't have a windows 7 disk or a recovery disk. (It was the only way I could get it to boot up) But I was able to bring up the command prompt and set an active partition. But alas trhis was not the problem. I can see all the files and they are intact. I've even been able to remove and replace file on the HDD so I know it's not a Hardware issue.

I'm downloading a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit now and see if I can boot from it. It's about the only thing I haven't tried. Any suggestions?

f you have the Dell System restore ( not all Dells do ) you can use that and you will not need a install CD

Dell - Technical Support

If not, You can get a reinstallation guide specific to your Dell here ( You will have to change the operating system to match yours.

I am using firefox 3.6.10 and I can get into sportsnet.ca no problem. When I want to pick the players for the hockey pool in fantasy games http://fantasy.sportsnet.ca/sportsnet/h ... nter_picks it just sits there saying it is loading but never loads. I tried disabling all the add ons but that did not work, I tried in firefox safe mode and it loaded properly. I uninstalled firefox totally, settings and all and reinstalled firefox but the player selection will not load again. If I run firefox in safe mode again it works properly. I have no problems with IE8 but I want to use firefox. Any help to solve this would be appreciated

Answer:Solved: Firefox wont load hockey pool

I think I have narrowed it down to the google toolbar causing the problem. I dont know if there is a fix for that or if I will have to dump the toolbar and replace it with another. I have been using the google toolbar for years in that site and never had this problem before. I dont see any settings in the toolbar that could cause this. Anyone have any ideas? It is not the google toolbar solely, sometimes it loads sometimes it doesnt when I disable the toolbar. I have done a total uninstall of firefox including personal settings and all but it still wont work properly. The site loads ok with IE8. I have been using the firefox browser for 3 or 4 years now and never had any problems till now

Hi all,

For a while in our house we were using only US Cellular Broadband connect, which is essentially a mobile 3G USB adapter. We uninstalled this from all the computers when we recently got Charter cable internet which is being broadcasted wirelessly with a Netgear cg3000d-rg. I know that the US Cellular broadband turns off wifi connectivity, but we made sure to uninstall all the drivers and software. We have 2 comps running XP and one Macbook, all able to connect to the new router. One Acer Aspire One is the holdout. It connected wirelessly fine before, but now will not work. It says it's "connected" and assigns an IP, but no matter what browser it will not load any webpages.

Here is some info below:

Hi, I apologise if I've posted this in the wrong forum.

Got a new computer today, hooked it up to the internet and can go on pretty much every website without a problem - except for Facebook!

Basically, I go to the homepage and it's all relatively white except for a few small links such as "About", "Advertising", "Developers" etc. It seems to be like this with all facebook pages.

I've attached a screenshot of the problem.

(With this being a new computer, perhaps I don't have some relevant programs to be able to view these pages?)

Please Help?

Answer:Solved: Facebook homepage wont load properly

Nevermind guys, solved the problem myself.

Version: IE 6(About dialog causes an error. Error 96, Unspecified error in the dialog)
Operating System: Windows XP SP3(2600.xpsp.080413-211)

Problem:
Internet Explorer 6:
About dialog causes an Unspecified error, Error number 96.
Unable to use and text fields or highlight text

Internet Explorer 7:
Refuses to even open.
When it did open, it would not load any webpages(just white where it should be) and about dialog crashed IE.

Troubleshooting:
First happened when I installed IE8 beta 2. I have since uninstalled it.

I have tried rolling back to IE6(see IE6 problems for what happens there) and reinstalling IE7. Neither seem to have worked multiple times.

With IE7 installed, other programs that use IE as the built in browser work fine until they want to open an actual IE window.
With IE6 installed, I have all the problems of highlighting text and using text fields .

Answer:[SOLVED] IE6 - Text fields broken. IE7- wont even load?!

I found out what was wrong. iexplore.exe wasnt being replaced, only the files were.. Found iexplore.exe in C:\windows\ie7 and relpaced c:\programs files\internet explorer's iexplore.exe with this one.. works now, was just an old ie8 file in the way.
