Question: Document contains no data

Need help please. I can?t seem to load certain pages using IE and Firefox. I have cleared cache and run virus scans but nothing works.

For about the last week I've been getting the "ALERT - The document contains no data". What's strange is this only occurs on Yahoo pages, such as Yahoo mail or Yahoo news. The data is there, but the alert pops up. Using XP SP3. I've tried enabling and disabling pop ups for Yahoo, but it makes no difference. Ran spyware programs, and it didn't help. This started happening after a power failure. Don't know if the power failure had anything to with the problem.

Document has no Data I occasionally get this error message when moving around the Web.nothing can proceed untill I click OK.Dont know what it means particularaly.This morning however it popped up as I click on a response to a post on this forum.Had to click it to clear.Result -double post.So what does that mean?

I keep getting a pop up which says "This document contains no data" while browsing using Mozilla Firefox, if I use IE it just redirects me to a blank page.

I have scanned using AVG and Spybot and it still keeps coming and I can't seem to find anything anywhere to explain why I would be getting these popups every 5 minutes or so:

Your log is clear so try running a full scan with adaware as per:

Download Adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
In Ad-aware click the Gear to go to the Settings area.
The following items should be on a green check, not on a red X.
Under the Scanning button:Scan within archives
Under Memory & Registry, Check EVERYTHING
In Check Drives & Folders, make sure all of your hard drives are selected
Under the Advanced button, check ALL under Log detail level (this makes it easier for visitors to the Lavasoft Support Forums to see what options you have selected should you require assistance.)

Anybody had problems with this message when trying to open up a page.I get it quite a bit with mozilla and netscape too.Cant find much on it anywhere,sure getting tired of it.Ran adaware and hi-jack this,dont see anything out of ordinary.Have windows xp,zone alarm and panda anti-virus.Any help would be appreciated

I keep getting this alert message that "The Document Contains No Data".
There is no problem loading any of the pages I navigate to, but the error message pops up with every page. How can I clear it?
This is a new occurence. I've had to consult with Tech Support Guy the past week to remove some bugs, this has happened after being "cleansed"

Question: Word document data

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum so if you will... just go easy

I am in the process of collecting alot of data off many different turbines within a windfarm.
What i am planning to do with this data is to create a word document which will consist of a diagram of 50 identical icon's each of little turbines with their own specific number (the same as the actual number out in the field).Then, create a hyperlink on each icon/number leading to a corresponding file containing the collected data.

My problem is how would i send this set up via email so i can share my collected data with engineers and the like and also have it so its a read only file at the receiving end?

Is there a better way of setting out this data?

This sounds like more of a hassle than anything. You have 50 turbines. So right there is going to make this document at least 5 pages long. That means you will have to find a way to get 10 images per page still, have the information you want still and links. So i think saying 5 pages will be short. It will have to be at least 10 pages if not longer. You would be much better off doing an excel spread sheet. Even a Powerpoint presentation.

There is no such thing as a read only file. There are so many ways to get around it. They could just copy the information and paste it to a new document. Gets right past your read only flag and they can do what they want with the information. They could take a screen shot of it and manipulate it with Photoshop. Sorry but if the information is viewed on another screen, it can be manipulated. Simple as that.

We have no idea what the data even looks like or anything. So we cant even begin to suggest if there is a beter way. It is like trying to fix your car without knowing the make, model and if there is even anything wrong with it.

I am using mozilla 1.6 and alot of webpages have a mozilla popup that says "document contains no data" but a webpage does come up no problem. It's really getting annoying pressing "ok" every time I go to a webpage. Any ideas?

Ok, this is confusing me

Everytime i turn of my computer and restart, my printer icon shows up in the taskbar. I know this is supposed to happen when you are printing somthing or if a document is still in queue, but im not printing and havent in a while.

What's wierd is when i open up the printer properties to see whats printing i get this in the queue

I've tried to ignore this but everytime i seem to restart, another one is added to the queue and so on....eventually, i could get up to dozenz of those docs in queue.

What is it.
Im running xp pro with an epson stylus c40ux usb printer.

It can be the rough equivalent of "Page Not Found" errors. Not a problem in your system normally - just a function of the Web - and PCA in particular whilst they have the current loading problems. Don't worry about it.

Using MS Windows 2000, SP2, on this Compaq Presario (AMD-K6-3D Processor), Mozilla Firefox, auto-detect proxy settings, SBC DSL: I can logon on to Yahoo Mail, but when I click on a mail link to open it, I receive a "Document contains no data" message. Have updated and run Ad Aware, Spy-bot, The Cleaner, Changed mozilla settings to not block pop-ups. Turned off all anti-virus ware that may have been running in the background. Answer:Solved: Document Contains No data

Problem solved! It was my DI-514, D-Link Router. All three computers were running through it. I unplugged the router, logged on to the Internet with IE, and was able to successfully logon and read my Ebay, Yahoo, and Hotmail. Maybe this will help someone else!

I have an Acer Aspire Desktop with Vista 64 and 3 gigs of RAM. The hard drive (600 gigabytes) is dividede into C:\ (300 gigabytes) and D:\ Data (300 gigabytes). I do not know much about computers; I used the C: drive until it filled up and discovered that I should have been putting data into the D:\ Data drive but prevously I had no idea what the D: Data was nor what it was for. Now my C: drive is so full I cannot even defrag it. I was told by a friend that I should to move all the Data (Documents, Pictures, Music) over to the D:\Data drive and I have no idea how to do this.

I have searched the forums and come up with some methods but there is some information that I do not understand and would like clarified. I have a documents folder under Desktop\Edward\Documents and then I find a documents folder under Computer\C:\users\Edward\Documents and they both have the same files under each. Are these really separate Document folders? If they are the same and I drag one to D:\ Data disk will the other still remain on the C:\ disk? If so can I safely delete it. my C:\ disk is too full there is only 3 gigs of space left on it and it will not defrag. I have to get rid of half the stuff on it. What can I move to the D:\ Data disk besides Documents, Pictures and Music?

I have a 500 page report that was created and stored in Snapshot Viewer from a dynamic database on 8/31/2003. I had someone else run the report for me because I was out of town and it wasn’t until I needed the report information that I realized it is sorted by the wrong field.
I am looking for a solution, short of re-entering all of the data by hand to recreate the information in Excel and resort with subtotals by product category rather than by warehouse.
Is it possible to extract the information from Snapshot viewer and put it into Excel?
Copy and Paste the data?
Or some other means?

To my knowledge, this is not possible. Have them re-run the query.

If you absolutely can't do that, then the ONLY method (which sucks) that I can suggest (and it really sucks) is to print it, scan it with OCR software, and open it in Word. (Did I say that it would really suck to have to do that?)

In the last 2 weeks I have started getting a "Connection Interrupted. The document contains no data." error message when attempting to access my work website form my laptop.

I have spent hours looking for a solution without any luck. If anyone can help me with this I would be very grateful.

Details:
Vista Business
Occurs in both IE7 and FF 3
Able to Ping and Tracert site
Windows Firewall Off and No 3rd Party Firewall Installed (both removed for trobleshooting this issue)
No 3rd party Privacy software installed
Wireshark shows successfull SYN -> SYN ACK -> ACK -> HTTP 1.1 GET followed by successful TCP Segement than numerous TCP Out-Of-Order and TCP Previous Segment Lost segments
After 10-20s Browser Displays "Connection Interrupted. The document contains no data." Error
Other websites load normally

Observations
Seems to occur after moving from the office network to home network or Home to office.
Others on same network are able to access the site while I cannot
Site generally becomes available again within 12-24 hours

After reading many forums on this I've tried:
Clearing (both) browser cache
Clearing Cookies
Flushing dns cache ipconfig /flushdns
flushing NetBios cache nbtstat -R
clearing NetBios names nbtstat -RR
Wireshark screenshot and dump attached.

I am plagued by getting a window headed "ALERT" and containing the legend:"The document contains no data"I just close it and nothing bad happens but why do I get it and how can I prevent it appearing?

I have created a document with about 6 columns. All of a sudden, those same columns were duplicated on the same row, with the same idential columns (with the same alphabetic letters) to the right of the columns I created. So, I have 2 ' sets of A 'B' 'C" etc. on the same lines with my original work.So, it looks like this:Betty Jones 888 Daylight Dr. Ona OH 941-888-4444 Betty Jones 888 Daylight Dr., Ona etc...When I try to delete any of the 2nd group of data, it deletes my original data too!I have no idea how this happened. I am having the following problem with data loss in Word documents.

I have a 3 person Network One Windows 98, One Windows XP Professional and One Windows XP Home. The Network is a Per-to-Per Network working using at 10/100 Switch at 100Mbs. Every thing has been working fine until the other week.

What happens is Word Documents are Created and Saved on the 98 PC in Office 200, then the user of XP Professional opens them in Office XP and changes them and Saves them to the 98 PC, then the user of the XP Home PC opens them in Office XP and saves them to the 98 PC. He then opens the file again alters the data and then saves it, under another name to the 98 PC.

This is where the problem occures, if you access the new file that has been created all the data has been lost and jumbled letters are all that is in the document.

What is strange is that, this does not happen every time, only about once every 10 documents. I dont think it is a virus as I have updated the virus scanners on the XP machines and checked them, the 98 machine does not have a virus scanner on it as it does not access the Internet. Equaly thought it could be a virus that Norton is not detecting, but it could be something else.

Does any one have any idea, what might bwe

Could it be that your XP user is set to save documents in the later (XP) format by default? The earlier version of Word may not be able to read XP documents correctly.

Try getting your XP user to save using 'Save As ...' from the 'File' menu, when the 'Save As' dialog box opens click in the box labelled 'Save as type:', scroll down to find the file type for Word 2000 (or whatever your earlier version of Word is called) and select then click on the 'Save' button.

If this does the trick you might consider changing the default file type in XP. You should be able to do this from the 'Tools ... Options' menu - click on the 'Save' tab and change the entry in the box labelled 'Save Word files as:' (at least that's how it's labelled in Word 97, hopefully the same in XP).

I don't have XP so I'm basing this on my experience with Word 2000, Word 97 and earlier versions - all of which are used by different users around our office network. We sometimes have this problem with documents received from clients.

Hello Everyone.

I need a help with the VBA macro.

I have one excel file & a word file. I need the data in the excel sheet to copy in to the word document.

This is what i need,

1. When you open the excel file, it has two columns Units & Comments.
2. The data in the Unit column need to replace this "XXXXXXXXXXXXX" in the word document,
3. The data in the Comments column need to replace this "cccccccc" in the word document,
4. once the unit column & comments column data is copied in to the word document. I need the word document to be saved with the file name of "XXXXXXXXXXXXX".

As a end result, i would have each file for each row in the excel file.

Is this possible? Could someone help me with this thing?

Well, here is the problem, I appreciate that this may be specific to my works network etc. but just wondering if anyone had come across anything similar or had any ideas what may cause it?

I worked all day yesterday on a document I am producing, did regular saves throughout the day as I always do. It is a big file (52.5Mb) containing a lot of pictures, hence the size.

Finished work yesterday, saved again and shutdown the machine, same as normal.

When I came in this morning, started her up and opened the file, it had lost all the work I did yesterday with the file reverting back to as it was when I finished on Monday. No errors came up, did not ask to recover from a temp file or anything, it opened as normal apart from missing all the work I did yesterday.

It was saved on a networked drive, I.T. guys are a little stumped at the moment, they say there is no version controlled backups on that particular network, I have searched to ensure I didn't randomly save it anywhere else and I hadn't.

Any thoughts or ideas?

What I have got is a word document and an excel document.

The excel document is used to enable a userform which a person can fill out.

The word document is used for the details of the user form in excel to be transferred to the word document.

I have created the forms and the word template and i am looking for a way the following can be done when the "SAVE" button is clicked on the user form in excel.

1) Have the details from the user form transferred into the word document at the top where the corresponding headers are.

2) The word document file name automatically created(using the issue title in the user form) and inserted into the excel sheet under issues for it to be reopen and viewed in Microsoft word.

I know it would be simpler to have all this in one form but the idea is to get someone to fill out the issue only then someone of higher authority can update the issue's progress but still allowing the issue creator( or any one else) the access to re-open it and see the updates in a read only format in word.

complicated i know but that's how its got to be.

I used Microsoft Word 97 and oftentimes have to enter the same number at multiple points in the document. How can I enter the number just once and have WORD insert it automatically at the other points in the document?

You could insert AutoText fields, then redefine the AutoText & recalc the whole doc. But unless I'm missing something, that seems a little OTT.

Couldn't you just put a fairly unique string (eg: xyz) at the required points, then when you have your number do a find & replace (CTRL+H)?

Hello,
I need some help creating a macro with some complex (I think) functions. This one might be tough!

I have a document that has fill in fields. The document is protected in order to enable the fill in fields.
Users will enter information in the fields depending on the answers to the questions in the document. The document is attached to show what it looks like.

What I need is a button (called "copy") at the end of the document that the user can just click and the macro will only copy text formatted as header and any fill-in fields that were completed.

Then the user can use the copied data to paste it somewhere else either by using their mouse (right click + paste) or using the Ctrl + v.

I'm not even sure if that's possible but we'll see if someone can help. It would be extremely wonderful if someone could figure this one out.

I've recently started getting this alert when browsing certain web pages with Firefox. I know the web sites are still up because they (dell.com, rottentomatoes.com, etc) work just fine on my laptop next to me. In IE, the same site fail to work. "The page cannot be displayed" is what IE says.

I've tried turning off my software firewall. I've tried flushing the DNS cache. I know DNS is working since I can ping those domain names. If I point IE/Firefox to the IP of the sites, I still get the error. The same thing happens on my desktop when I am at a friend's house. So I don't think it is my router, etc.

Firefox .92. IE 6 (fully updated). WinXP SP1A.

A Google search turned up a lots of hits, but I didn't see anything that applied to my issue (or at least that offered a solution). I've never seen anything like this before. I'm really at a loss.

My hosts file is clean. I've checked. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

sounds like flaky DNS / NIC config if you get the same behavior in IE and Firefox. I really don't think it's a browser problem directly.

I don't have a direct solution to suggest, really -- just this new direction to look. Sorry I can't help more.

On numerous websites (I'll find an example) I get the error "This document contains no data" when using Mozilla Firefox 1.0. It usually only pops up once, and the page usually loads just fine (but sometimes with an image missing). Is this a problem with the cache? I presume it's quite common......

This really isn't much to concerned about... I get the message whenever I get disconnected in the middle of loading a page. It's the equivalent of IE's "This page can not be loaded."

If you get this annoying "the document contains no data" message in firefox (caused when you have ad blocking enabled somewhere, I think...), then do this:

in address bar, type:

about:config

find the setting called "browser.xul.error_pages.enabled" and set it to true.

the annoying message will then go away.

This is actually for a friend but I thought I'd ask here since you guys will probably know.

Basically some websites come up with that message in a window for him, instead of the website. It only happens to a very small number of websites apparently and sometimes when he tries them they work, sometimes that message appears.

He's googled the message and lots of people seem to get the problem sometimes and he followed a short guide saying if you change some value to true in about:config it works, but it didn't fix it for him.

I have no idea at all obvious, anyone got any ideas?

Having a problem with firefox... some websites I can't access. Either it will just time out and say it could not be found (right after it says that I can reload the page and it works fine) or I will get an error message saying "This document contains no data." I would check the mozilla forums, but apparently they contain no data.

I noticed that if I keep refreshing the page that "contains no data" that sometimes it will eventually load. Sometimes. Anyone know a fix for this?

btw I'm using the latest version.

When saving a Word 2007 document as a webpage (htm, html), an extra folder is automatically created besides the hmtl document itself. This folder contains background information like pictures, wallpaper etc. Is there a way to prevent that folder from being created in the first place? I've got Word 2000 on another computer, and when I save my word documents as html files over there, that extra folder is not generated. The only time that folder is created in 2000 is if my documents contain pictures, wallpaper etc. In Word 2007, it is created all the time, even though my documents are just plain text.

Managed to find the solution, it was very simple after all. One has to save the document as a filtered webpage and click "yes" when a box pops up warning you that you will use certain featuers which are specific to Office2007, such as the background. Then the document will save without that extra folder and files.

This is just one of those odd quirks I have run into. When I open a new document in Word, then open an older file, the new document closes and only the old one is displayed.Using Microsoft Office 2010, specifically Word.Windows 7 64-bitA bit of explanation, I often do research/writing for school or for fun. I am running XP and Word 2000 and Nortons. Word will crash if you leave the document open for a while (there is no specific time frame) and then select close (icon). The error - Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. The details are: AppName: winword.exe

This has pretty much happened since I got this laptop. I have reformatted and reinstalled everything (due to another problem) and still have the same problem with word. I have used the same CD on other computers to install word and they do not have the same problem.

I use a variety of templates and plain documents in my work and can not pin point it to one template.

If you leave Word open with a document (no matter what size) and come back to it later this is when the problem happens. I started to get around it my saving first then closing, but this no longer works. The save completes and then I select Close and this is when it happens - you get the dreaded pause and then you hear the whirl of the computer and then you get the Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. Firstly I could put up with it but is now just a nusiance.

I have two questions regarding documents created in Word 2007...

1) Can links be created within a Word document? For example, can I click on and item my table of contents and have the document jump to that particular section of the document?

2) Also, is there a way to make sections of the document hidden until the user clicks a specific word or graphic in the document?

I'd like to specify a particular instruction and include a "Show example" link that would make a detailed example appear for those who needed the extra help.

If you created table of contents through References - Table of Contents, you can hold Ctrl and click on the item in that table, word will take you there. This feature is standard.

Also, to navigate inside document you can use bookmark option.
Insert bookmarks. Word 2010 Bookmarks
Then insert Hyperlink - in the window select second tab "Place in This Document" and choose your bookmark.

As for hiding parts of document, I do not think that is possible.
You can create that in HTML document with javascript, but not in Word document.

This might be kind of tricky.

We're trying to streamline our RFQ-to-Quote process, which currently utilizes a combination of digital forms and hand-written forms passed among several departments. My boss asked me to modify the RFQ form to save him some typing (because he has to retype all the information in the final Quote), and I--not understanding the complexity of the process--very stupidly told him that it could be done fairly simply using form fields and bookmarks. He's been kind enough to grant me a lot of leniency because for him anything would be better than the current situation, so as long as I can improve on what we use now, he'll be happy.

I thought about creating form templates for each of the departments, then as the original RFQ circulated from one department to the next subsequent forms would be appended to it to create a rolling document. I'm not too happy with the that idea; there's all sorts of room for user error. I thought about creating a single document template containing every department's form, but a) I don't want any single department to be able to modify information gathered during another department's process, and b) certain departments must generate a variable number of copies of their form.

I told my boss the best way to accomplish a secure and low-maintenance RFQ-to-Quote would be to create a stand-alone Quote Generator application, but we both agree the effort is not condusive to the timeframe by whic... Read more

Hi all.

The other day whilst in the throws of fixing another unrelated problem I came across a strange and annoying Word Document problem.

When I bought this word document up it present a very unusual icon. It was grayed out and part of the title contained a ~$ then the name of the document.

When I tried to open it, the word document only opened up to the gray page just before it should turn white displaying the text, and there it froze.

Nothing worked after that! The freeze was so bad that the only way to close the window was to turn the computer off at the tower.

After rebooting I tried it again 2 more times with the same problem freeze occurring in the Word document.

Today I again found another document that caused the same problem, this time the icon for that document was normal but right beside this icon was another malformed grayed out ~$(name) icon.

When I tried to open either of the 2 icons I got the same freezing up problem, just as before.

I tried a previously suggested step in that I opened "Word" and from there navigated to where the bad files were located.

In turn I only hi-lighted each, and at the bottom of that window clicked on the arrow for the drop down box.

I was advised that one of the presented options was to repair the file. No such option was present.

So there you have it. Any advice on this problem please?

Hi all.

Just to advise that I am going to mark this topic as Solved......to a fashion so to speak.
I may resurrect it at a later stage if the problem re-presents it's self.

In a nut shell. I spent a lot of time today searching sites and performing tests including searches on my computer program.

I ascertained that all the aforementioned "defective " Word documents originated in the same folder. After performing several search functions with the criteria as ~$.doc no other such files were found on my computer, other that the already mentioned.

All tests suggested would not repair the said documents.

I have now deleted the offenders and I will monitor the situation. If I run into problems again I will re-post.

I'm using word 2010.
I have a Mailmerge document (actually a company letter with header and footer, used by a package called "Cash4Windows" [C4W]). This document usually has the recipients name and address etc. inserted by C4W.
The document is a template - "xxx.dotx".
What I want to do is strip out the Mailmerge fields and save the document as a normal Word 2010 document, 'cos the User wants to have a blank standard company document available.
I've spent a long time fiddling with the Header and Footer to get just what the User wanted, and I know i could just cut-n-paste the Header and Footer into a new document, then save it as "xxx.docx", but when I looked on various help sites the normal method in Word 2010 seems to be
on the ribbon tab
Select Mailings
Select "Start Mail Merge"
Select "Normal Word Document"
then save the Word document.
I've tried this and it has absolutely no effect, as when I close and reopen Word and select the previously saved document, I still get the "Opening the document will run the following SQL command" splash screen!
I've tried saving the "normalised" document with various different extensions, but nothing seems to get rid of the SQL.
I've also tried opening the VBA editor (Alt+F11) to see if I can find the SQL, thinking that if I can delete the SQL it might cause Word to avoid the prompt, but I can't even find the SQL!!!

On my previous computer with Windows 2000, I was able to make incremental backups of a Microsoft Word document while it was being created by me. The advantage of this was that if an "accident" happened and the document was lost or corrupted before it was completed or saved to a folder, the partially completed document could be retrieved from a special folder somewhere in C-drive. I was able to specify how often a new backup was created (ex.: every 3 minutes, ex.; every 10 minutes, etc.). It is possible that this special folder also contained backups of all previously saved Word documents, which were also being re-backed up every few minutes. -- I cannot find any reference to this on my new computer (Windows XP and Microsoft Word 2002) in the Windows search engine, or in the Word user interface "Help". I cannot remember how I found this feature on my previous (W~2000) computer. -- Thanks

Hello,
I used mail merger to create 25 letters to different locations and different people. The source used for the names and address's were from an excel file. I used "Edit Individual Documents" in order to get all the letters in one document. Now the problem is i need a backup of each letter on my computer and i have no clue if its even possible to save each page in the master document as a unique document. If not, is there a way of saving each unique document of a mail merger?

Dear all previously i have posted for Trojan issue and subsequently received responses from your team on time Now i am interested to know or get rid of issue with word 2003, installed in windows home basic 7 platform.......I work in several Word 2003 documents (on Windows 7 platform) at the same time. When I open the first document it stays open (maximized). If I open a second document, the document opens, but then immediately minimizes down to the task bar. Same result if I open a third document. I can not give you any precise answer but it is maybe because of office specific settings or you press accidentally some key on the keyboard and on this way interrupt symbols entering.

I am wondering how to make an hyperlink, from a main document, to a sentence of a sub document that got included through {INCLUDETEXT \\....docx} in the main document?

I was working on a Word document that someone sent me by email in form of rar and saved the document. I now can't find the revised file and I have lost about 8 hours of work. Any ideas on where I can find this file? I looked in the email that was originally sent, but it is still the old file. I have also done searching on my computer with no luck. Help, I'm desperate!!! I have Word 2007. Please give me reply as soon as possible.

If you were only hitting "Save" and not "Save As" the document is likely, unfortunately, gone. You can try opening Word by itself and going through recent documents to see if it shows up. If you opened it directly from the email and the email was in Outlook, you might be able to find it in the Outlook Secure Temp Folder. To get to this folder, the easiest way is to send yourself a PDF file, open the PDF from the email then go to File | Properties and on the General tab (this is from memory, so I might be off a little bit) you'll find a location that you can click on. In this folder, you have a slight chance of finding the modified file. The only other option you have, that I can think of, would be digging through your temp folders hoping to find a .tmp or .doc file in there that has the content, but I give that about a .01% chance of happening. Hi,

I work at a small non-profit and we have updated two computers with new computers running Windows 7. We use MS Word 2003. I have checked all threads on forum related to this issue, but nothing seems to correct our problem. I would be grateful for any help.

Description of issue: With a Word document open, one should be able to click "File" > "Send To" > Mail Recipient As Attachment", or any of the other mail options, and have the email composition window of Thunderbird pop up. What happens is that Word is attempting to send the attachment via Windows Live Mail. The computer basically freezes. If you try and abort or get out of Word, and error pops up stating you can't close Word until the email has been sent. Finally, you have to force a shut down of the computer.

Internet Explorer shows Thunderbird as default email client. I have check all of the other obvious places for setting the default email client, but I can't seem to find a conflict anywhere on the computer showing Windows Live Email as default client.

As a side note, this employee was using Outlook Express as their email client prior to the computer upgrade and all setting were imported into Windows Live Mail, which was initially used. The employee did not like Windows Live Mail, so I installed Thunderbird. It is used as the default email client and the only issue has been with Word. Additionally, I know that the document could be sent from Windows Explorer by right-cli... Read more

I subscribe to Webshots [www.webshots.com]. My paid subscription is current.
When I attempt to access that URL, I'm greeted by the error [Alert?] message in the Title of this thread. The same occurs, hit or miss, when I attempt to link to other sites - there appears to be no pattern to the accesibility or inaccessibility. Frustrating, to say the least. Thoughts or suggestions, please?

I have enrolled in college after 35 years away.  My professor is posting all documents in Word form.   I have Works.  Can I convert them to open into Works?  Can anybody walk me through it step by step?  I have Word installed, but haven't "bought" the program (free trial that came on computer).  When I try to save the word document and change the save as, I don't get any options except Microsoft Word 97 and All Files.

URGENT!! (Isn't it always?) I need to convert a multiple tab excel document to a word document. I read that I can save as a pdf, then convert to word but I have only Adobe Reader. If this can be done, is there a way to conserve the original format and the links in the excel doc?I would prefer leaving in excel but the customer needs a word document. Also, just in case I can convince to leave in excel -- is there a way to print the excel file as one document without printing each tab separately? Hi,
I have problem, when I put link to .XPS document in MS word document, i can't open this link, nothing hapens , links to other file types works fine. XPS document opens without problem with IE when opening file from folder. I tried to lower security setings in IE hidden security zone "my computer" , but this wont help. There is no problem in Windows 7 with xps links. But i need it to work in Vista. I think it's some kind of security problems. Any ideas ?

I am a teacher in Tennessee and I need to find a software that will enable me to edit and change a scanned document. I have some old tests and worksheets that I inherited from the teacher that had my room before me. I would like to make some minor changes to the documents without having to retype the entire set of documents. (Things like change the date and the teacher name on the heading, etc...)

Is there a software out there that will allow me to scan a document in and then alter it? These are not copyrighted materials, so that is not an issue.

Preferably, I would like a freeware or shareware or trial version of something to make sure I can navigate it before I shell out a chunk of cash to purchase something.

As a teacher, it is important to me that my materials look professionally done, so I would prefer to edit them on a computer rather than use white out and pen.

You can use OCR, i.e text recognition. I'm not 100% sure if Adobe Reader does it, but Adobe Acrobat Pro definitely does. There's probably a few other free alternatives out there as well.

Hi, I am trying to edit somethings in a XML document and save it as a notepad or wordpad document. I open it with notepad or wordpad and it allows me to make the changes. However, each time I save it after opening it in notepad or wordpad, it then reverts back to been a XML document.

In Notepad/Wordpad, choose Save As and save it with a .txt extension, or else make a copy and change the extension of that from .xml to .txt

Hi,

I am not sure if this is possible in word, but say I have document A. I place document A within document x, document y, and document z. Is it possible to make changes to document A and have the changes updated automatically to documents x, y, and z?

Answer:Word Document within another document

The only simple way is to go to Insert, Object, Create from file and choose to insert your file as a link (these are 2003 instructions - would be similar in 2007, though.) However, you will then get a questions about the file having links and do you want to update...every time you open the file.
You could also just insert some text and hyperlink it to the other file.
Finally, someone could probably write some VBA that would insert the file and update it every time you opened it.

Hello, I've been struggling with getting a simple InfoPath 2007 form to work with a test MS Access 2007 database. I feel the best way to explain what I am doing is by giving you an example.

Background of scenario:

Lets say I am a distributor of gas cylinders. I have 100 different gas cylinders that I fill and send to customers. When they are done with the gas, they return the cylinders and I fill them back up. Each cylinder has specific data related to each: manufacturer, serial #, specific cylinder ID, and material of construction (carbon steel, stainless steel, etc). I have this data in my MS Access database, in an individual table called "CYLINDER_DATA". Every time I refill a cylinder, I need to record the date and measure the pressure and temperature (among other things) of the gas in the cylinder. This data (along with the specific "CYLINDER_DATA" at this date of measurement) must be added as a new record in a different table called "CYLINDER_MEASUREMENTS" in the same database.

What I would like to do:

So, I want to create an InfoPath form for operators to use whenever they need to perform measurements on a newly filled cylinder. So, I created an InfoPath form, that starts with a drop-down list box control that is populated with the 100 different cylinder IDs. We have a corporate Enterprise with IE11 on Windows 7. We are using Enterprise Mode instead of "open intranet sites in compatibility view" which is now unchecked.





We want sites to open in IE 8 Document Mode instead of the Edge Default which occurs when we uncheck the intranet site compatibility view.
We have the XML and Enterprise Mode Enabled and it is processing BUT the sites are changing from Edge to Document Mode 5 instead of 8?

I have tried ALL the document modes and even IE 8 Emulation and it doesn't matter which one we set, the sites are going to Document Mode 5, with the exception of Livemeeting.com which is opening in IE 8 Document Mode as it should.

Now we can set it manually in IE using the Emulation but it does not last the session.

I'm creating a document in word 2007 at one point of the document I want to insert a link or icon that points to a separate word document, when the master document is saved both documents are saved as one file so that i can distribute it to other people not linked on a LAN. I don't need the second document to be seen but launched on a separate window when the link or icon is clicked.
Can somebody please help I've seen this on emails and PP presentations but I'm not sure if it can be done in word, I would think so!

I have a client with a problem creating new documents from the File > New > Word Document dropdown from Windows Explorer window. If I set her default font to Times New Roman it will stay for creating new documents from within Word. If she goes the other route mentioned above to create a new document it will always default to Courier. Also when she tries to save the document with the Save As item it defaults to txt instead of a .doc file. I am thinking there are two different templates for these two seperate ways of opening or creating a document.

Hi everyone, my software(data acquisition software) works well and saves data in the folder with full control permissions, but when I try to save my data in the restricted folder(only delete permission is denied) it displays an error access denied.
Is there any workaround to disable the delete option and keeping the normal functioning of software intact, as my intention is to allow the users to generate the data and restricting them from deleting the generated data

Hello,

I have two problems:

1.
I have a lot of scanning data, all date and time stamped. All the scans show different status of shipped packages (all shipments have unique ID#, but there are multiple scans on route for all of them to track the packages). I want to find all the packages, for which there was "misdirected" scan, then for all of them, show the scan before. So, the end result would be all the scans that show for each package where it was misdirected (the terminal# of the scan before the misdirect scan).

2.
I want to automate this: run 5 queries every two hours between 8am and 10pm, copy and paste all results into Excel to specified areas (e.g. first query results to A1, second to A5000, third to A10000, etc. or onto different tabs), save as .csv to a specific folder, then send it as attachment to a given e-mail address. Even partial solution can be good.
I only know macros (somewhat), not as much VBA, so I tried that with the TransferSpreadsheet command, but can't get it work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have an android phone with data and an app called pdanet+. However, my phone isn't compatible with the wifi hotspot feature of the app. Therefore, I decided to use the Bluetooth internet feature of planet+, but it won't show up on my iPhone. Does anyone know what jailbreak tweak I can get to be able to make the connection between the phones?

First of all, what is background data and do you have to pay for it?
I never use my phone if it's not connect to wi-fi.
One day, I happened to be using the Data Sense app to see how much data I was using and I saw that the background data for the Internet was higher than the actual data used.
How is that possible? Please explain to me.

Data Sense on my phone shows Cellular Data and Wi-Fi data. Not background data.
However Background data is typically data usage when you are not using the phone. E.g. a mail account checking for email. Or WhatsApp receiving a message.

Hello - I am currently building an "Agent Journal" Database. This will be an area where supervisors can enter "Journal Entries" for their direct reports. The way it is currently setup is: The Supervisor form pops up. Supervisor selects their name from a dropdown, and select a command button. This opens another form with another dropdown that lists only the selected supervisors direct reports. Once the "direct report" name is selected, they will hit another command button that opens the "Journal Entry Form" On this form, there are text boxes for Supervisor and Agent. These fields are auto-populated based on the names selected on the previous 2 forms. There is also a combo box where they can select a "reason" from a dropdown menu, and a date picker so they can enter the date. The problem that i am having is: The data entered into the final form will not save to a table. I want to maintain the auto-populating of the Supervisor and Agent names when this form opens, and i want to have them select a command button to save all of the data on this form to a table. Can anyone help me with this????

My external USb Wd mybook box has 1 tb Seagate Sata 3 and i use original Wd disc as W7 installed... in My PC Case as sata II

Today my old problem appears again as Corrupted disc...
I have Get Data Back NTFS (and i used before plenty of times for recovery, loss data or unwanted deletions) but..

This time im stuck.. Becouse the disk i try to recover includes 870 gb (about) used disk space (only audio files) only 50gb (about) empty space... Thats too big for me to recover to other disks.. i don't have enough spaces that my other disks can handle..

I have about 300 gb FREE disk space in several disks or partitions include My thinkpad SL510 Notebook..

wit keeping my lost data in corrupted disk first, can i take them slowly to this 300 gb spaces (i know i can) and after create somehow emty space (deleting those recovered 300 gb + 50 on corrupted disk) and

equipments upgrades..

Before you write more data or attempt to read data from the drive through Windows, I would suggest using a Live CD like SysRescueCD to boot from and access the HDD.

HELP PLEASE !!!!

I have attached a sample excel document
Basically each morning I receive a .txt file and I export it to excel.
I have a macro which deletes blank rows and therefore tidies the file up somewhat as the size is humungous!
There will be approximately 1000 brach i.d.'s on a daily basis within my file, but I have provided a few in the sample excel doc.
Within my attachment I have highlighted a specific branch and the information that comes with it. I only need part of the information (therefore many rows can be deleted within each branch i.d.

Please review the attached sample and keep in mind the following:

1. I need to keep the branch i.d. at the top of each section
2. I really only require the information that relates to "outstanding" and the few subsequent rows beneath

Can someone please assist??? I would be very appreciative

I am an absolute begineer in MS Access. Will try to put my question as simply n clearly as possible.

I have designed a database to keep history of our company's projects. The 'Master Project History Table' contains fields including 'Project Ref', 'Project Title', 'Project Budget' and 'Project Year'. The users are expected to populate the table through 'Master Project HistoryForm'.

The key field is set as 'Project Ref'.

Some of the projects are combined with each other and to display this info, 'Master Project History Form' also has the fields 'Project Ref-1', 'Project Title-1', 'Project Budget-1' and 'Project Year-1'.

I am loking for a code for the ('On Update' event) that will fetch and display data in 'Project Title-1', 'Project Budget-1' and 'Project Year-1' fields when 'Project Ref-1' is updated. Please note that all this info is coming from the same 'Master Project History Table'.

My IT guys told me to use a code with variable for each field that goes something like this (to update Project Title-1 field):

Hi all,
Can someone help me with this issue in the Crystal Report

I am using Crystal Report 2011 and Oracle database.
My query is to output some columns in 2 different table(A,B).
After run query, there is 126,978 rows in the result.
In table A, there are 36 different types. The result shows same
in the Oracle Sql Development and Crystal Report (126,978 rows).
it also shows 36 different types in the details section. But when I right click
on that column, there is 23 different types and missing other 13 types.
I tried many ways but without successful (still missing).
Is there any problem with the software? Data missing hence I cannot create correct
dynamic parameter. If it does not show all 36 different type, then my query possibly
wrong, but it can show in the details section, then browse data option should show all 36 types right?
Do you have any idea to solve this?

When i export my inventory from my DB into an excel file, my trailer brands are listed as they are in my DB (of course). But when i bulk upload them with XML feed to trailer inventory sites (HTW.com & HTT.com for our example here). My inventory is listed on their site, but it's not searchable because the brand search is a drop down menu on these sites.

Say i goto HTW.com and do a search for 'Blue Ribbon' trailers none of my blue ribbon trailers show up because all of mine are listed as 'BLUE RIBBON TRAILERS, LTD' and the site is searching for 'Blue Ribbon' and although they are the same trailer brand HTW.com does not see them.

What i'm looking for is maybe a Macro or even formula that once i tell it what site i'm working on, will go through my list and replace all my spellings with the proper ones for that site...

Attached is an XLS file with 3 columns, the first is my list as is from my DB, the other 2 columns are the proper spelling for each corresponding site...

Excel's find and replace feature is a VERY crude fix to this, but since it's so time consuming it's NOT a viable solution.

Any takers??

for the record, a complete solution would be GREAT, but not necessary...
I just need someone to point me in the right direction and maybe a small working sample of like 5 brands and i'll expand the list from there...

University of Illinois engineers developed fiber-optic technology that can transmit data at a blazing-fast 57 gigabits per second, without errors








Feng?s group has been pushing VCSEL technology to higher speeds in recent years, and in 2014 was the first group in the U.S. to achieve error-free data transmission at 40 gigabits per second (denoted as Gbps). Now, in a series of conference papers, they report 57 Gbps error-free data transmission at room temperature, as well as 50 Gbps speeds at higher temperatures up to 85 degrees Celsius (185 degrees Fahrenheit).

Achieving high speeds at high temperatures is very difficult, Feng said, due to the nature of the materials used, which prefer lower temperatures. However, computing components grow warm over extended operation, as anyone who has worked on an increasingly heated laptop can attest.

I need a spreadsheet that will match data in column A. Any time a specific work order number is entered/repeted in that column, and the numbers are entered under each shift, the totals will automatically subtract from the "orders to complete" . Ok, running windows xp home on a peer to peer network. Have done avast antivirus and ad aware scans.

Friday my computer locked up (dang farmville!). I got impatient and did a hard reboot (holding the power button down). Quickbooks also was open.

When it rebooted it did the blue screen Stack rebuild thing.

Now MS Outlook can't open the data files and the quickbooks data file also appears to have been corrupted.

An interesting thing - we have the carbonite internet backup service. Unfortunately, it seems to overwrite and not make any kind of incremental backups, so once it's backed up, that's the file you can restore. I was hoping to try to find a file that had been backed up in the morning, instead of right around the time I had the problem.

Anyway, when I browse to look at the user documents and settings folder on the BACKUP, it shows the application data and local settings folders, as normal. On the computer, those folders are now MISSING. I uploaded a screen shot on our website: http://www.domesticunity.com/tempfiles.html (sadly too big to attach)

Any idea of a simple way to fix this?

I looked online and Microsoft Outlook stores the data in personal.pst - that file also appears to be missing.

Answer:Blah! Application Data Folder Gone & Outlook Data won't open

Got it figured out.

Was able to restore a recent backup from the Carbonite service of my quickbooks file and only had to redo one day of entries.

Then did some more looking at Outlook threads on the net and first found out how to unhide hidden folders - the Application Data and Local Settings folders were hidden. Then found a thread about a scanpst.exe utility that repairs outlook data files.

Now it seems I'm back up and running!

Thanks for trying to help! Even tho no one had magic answers yet, I can see people cared and looked at my problems.

We are NOT alone! LOL

This is sort of a follow-up to here: Manycam does not broadcast sound , how do I fix this ?

Since it is locked and this issue is different, am making a new thread.

Basically most cam sites have you configure cam feed and microphone feed differently. Even if you have a camera with a built-in microphone, this is sensed as 2 inputs into the computer and you select them separately.

In addition to being able to alter and do tricks with my web camera input, ManyCam is also able to use video files as if they were a web cam feed. This allows, for example, me to play a previously recorded video of myself, or a clip from a cartoon I like, and broadcast it to someone I'm talking to, like say TinyChat or Stickam.

While this happens, I can hear the sound from the file I am playing, because it plays concurrently in ManyCam even as ManyCam's content is sensed and broadcast through a web page or instant messenger.

Basically I would like to broadcast the sound too, through a microphone feed, but I don't know how to do that through software alone. So what I've been doing is putting a microphone next to my speakers and having it record the broadcasted music.

Clearly this reduces quality, and it necessitates both playing audio out loud (not an option if I want to be quiet and use ear phones) and also risks recording myself when I only want people to hear the audio from the file.

Manycam not broadcast sound and you can't fix it , they not support sound , but i can give you solution i found program name SplitCam this software have same functions like manycam and little more . and its support sound split and mix and stream. i recommend it .
