Preferred Solution: Help Please Urgent Help Needed. System32 bad image error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Help Please Urgent Help Needed. System32 bad image error

1. Download this file -> http://download.bleepingcomputer.com...a/ComboFix.exe

2. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log & a fresh HJT log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Apologies - the Urgent in this is only because I'm unsure whether any action may need to be done before I close down in about 6 hours or so.

Basically my problem began in Picasa 3 where I watched a short vid then decided to change the filename. That done I closed the preview & went back to the main program where I discovered that Picasa had somehow decided I wanted the entire folder of images renamed so it has worked through the 500+ images and renamed each one as Filename001, Filename002, Filename003 and so on which as you can appreciate is now causing somewhat of a major headache for me. It would take me a good few hours I would rarely have to go through and rename each one manually, so my question basically is - is there any method or program that can undo the action as I can't find any means of doing so from within Picasa. All other options I've found in my searches are mainly to achieve pretty much the same i.e. bulk rename as Name1, Name2 etc so are of little help.

Anyone any suggestions what else I could try?

Answer:Urgent help needed - how to revert a bulk image name process?

I assume you don't have a Backup to fall back on. I use these two bulk renaming tools. You can see if they help. This is drop dead simple to use - http://www.fauland.com/af5.htm
This one has a more complicated interface but a couple other options - http://www.joejoesoft.com/vcms/108/

Hello and good evening to you all, I urgently need some help please and i'm HOPING that there is a solution here here please. My neighbour brought her laptop round to me this evening, that she was listening to music on it yesterday, and it just went off. I though it was a virus, as ive sorted out her laptop for her before, when it had a vius,...but this time it seems different.
Its a Windows vista laptop, and she's had it for about 3 years now. Its a compaq laptop. All her music, word docs, family photos are on her laptop, and NOTHING is backed up anywhere.
I've switched it on and I get the exact following message: LOADKEY FAILED WITH ERROR 1009 (STHIVE#0)
SO ive tried it in safe mode with f8, and sstill same message,....
Ive switched it back on, and then it askes whether to launch startup repair(recommended)..
I clicked on yes, and it said loading files........
Them it takes me to the system recovery options screen,...where it says Uk, and tells me to select next....
I've stopped here as ive no idea wheterh it'll will work ir actually WIPE the whole laptop, and hence my neighbour loses ALL her stuff on the laptop..which I dont waht at all.
Any suggestions please???

Answer:Urgent Help needed...Error Message: LOADKEY FAILED WITH ERROR 1009 (STHIVE#0)

Hi - you should be fine -I had a start up problem once (not same one) and used the start up repair and it sorted it without affecting my data - may be worth awaiting a second opinion from someone who knows what the problem is though!

Haven't been able to get on all day..absolute nightmare!

I'm currently running on safe mode.

I left my computer on over night and when I went to open up Firefox this morning all of a sudden the computer just shut off and went blank. After about 10 second a bright blue screen came up with this on it:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

The problem seems to be caused by the following file: nv4_disp

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error, restart that computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check your hardware device vendor for any updates.

Technical information:

*** STOP:0x000000EA (0X8278D020, Ox82A87C50, 0xEC38FCB4, 0x00000001)

nv4_disp

Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete.

Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

I've just about tried everything, every time I restart it gets as far as me logging into my account and then it just shuts down again.

Anyone have any ideas what this is all about? I thought my computer was totally screwed but I can get it online on safe mode.

Thanks in advance, Parky.

I turned my pc on yesterday, and it was fine then all of a sudden it crashes, keyboard, mouse everything crashes...So i restart my pc...But then i couldn't get past the "windows is loading" screen when booting my pc up...So i formatted my pc..And it worked..Then I got onto my pc for the rest of the day, i installed Windows SP2 and restarted my PC and same error occured...Then, i turned it for a bit, and now all i get when i turn it on, is a big screeching sound coming from inside my PC...But i don't know where abouts it is coming from. It turns on, makes a big sound, stops then carries on..It keeps doing that until i turn it off again. Nothing appears on the screen. PLEASE HELP ME!! I really don't know what to do.

Answer:PC ERROR URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!

A very loud sound which stops/starts is often a faulty power supply. The other possibility is a mechanical problem such as a fan, or even a hard drive - but if it's regular, then most likely the PSUIs it under warranty? Can you describe ot in more detail pleae - how loud, how long are the sounds/quiet bits in between - does it sound mechanical or an electronic sound - any more clues.

Tonight, my WinXPro system was spied by some malicious software which Symentec Antivirus wasn't able to clean up. Finally I decided to use Norton Ghost to recover from an old backup file. It is an image file of my C partition. On the same disk, there is another physical partition "D". By accident, I installed the ghost image to 'Disk 1', forgetting to select Partition 1, and so wiped out completely the second partition on this drive. Now I cannot see drive D at all from file explore. Is there any way I can get those files back which was in my D drive? There is no backup for them which I work on everyday. Without recoverying all of them will japerdize my job seriously. Any ideas welcome, please help. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Hi the problem I am having is as follows:

My laptop starts fine, I log on and am presented with all my icons etc (although this is a bit slow) I only get approx 2 mins to do anything. I am able to open the start menu and control panels however; I am unable to open anything from there. After the 2 mins I get an error message of:

ifrmewrk.exe - Application error
The instruction at "0x023a9d042 referenced at "0x001c0000"
the memory could not be "read"

Once I click 'ok' all of my icons, start menu etc disappear and I am left with just my wallpaper. I can alt, ctrl delete but when I click task manger it does not show. It does not connect to the internet either.

I have searched through so many sites now but no one seems to have the same problem.

I am running windows XP, I believe this is an Intel pro problem but I am unable to gain access to the add / remove programmes to take it off. I am also unable to gain access to the events log as it just shows me the egg timer for a second and then nothing.

Although I know a bit about computers - simple instructions would be a big help!!!

Thanking you in advance.

Answer:ifrmewrk.exe error - urgent repair needed

Hi nike1601 and welcome to TSF

If you boot up in the Safe Mode and the problem is not there, try this.
See if it is an offending program that runs and tries to write in a memory area that is assigned to another application. Go to msconfig and disable everything except your Virus and malware applications.
msconfig is at Start>Run, then Msconfig, then Enter. At the msconfig window, pick the Startup tab. Uncheck all but the virus and malware applications. See if that will stop the error. If it does, you can selectively re-enable applications, if you wish, until you find the culprit. Normally, you can just leave them unchecked without any problem as they will run anyway when you need them and open them.

It is also possible that you could be affected by malware. Be sure to run your virus and malware programs. More than one malware program is advisable, I use Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware. Each seem to find what the other does not.

Also, the error message might be telling you the truth, it may be a memory cell gone bad, but somehow it seems unlikely that only the same application could find that bad memory cell. Wouldn't hurt to run a memory test program though.
You can download memtest86 at this location:

http://www.memtest86.com/

It takes a few hours to run, so plan other activities for a while.

Hope this helps,
Mack1

This error is common in the logfile - especially with pre-built systems.

Please let us know what you are doing when getting this BSoD error.
Have you changed, updated, removed anything hardware or software from your system recently?
Is there anything that may have happened that sticks in your mind as unusual?

Please let us know your system specifications (make and model if it's a pre-built system with no modifications).

I have never seen an error like this before and the computer it is happening on is only a year old.

When the computer starts up the following error is appearing:
LSA Shell (export version) encountered a problem and needed to close.

Then, after dialing up the internet a message pops up (it's long so I couldn't write it down) that basically says the system needs to shut down and that you have 60 seconds to close everything out.

I am running XP and have four users on the computer. This is happening under each user.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Are the two problems related? Why would it be happening?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kristy

my computer was attacked by spyware, so a friend came over to help clean out my computer and began manually deleting files based on some forum advice he was reading. im not sure what he deleted, but now whenever i turn on my computer, it says NTDETECT FAILED and the computer keeps restarting, never loading windows. ive tried all the different boot modes and they all give the same error. please help! i cannot access my computer anymore!

i am (was?) running xp on a sony vaio laptop.

Answer:computer boot error--urgent help needed!

Insert your Windows XP CD, and boot from it. Enter the Repair Console, press R for the repair console. Select the drive Windows is installed on, then enter your Admin pass. Use the following repair commands, attrib "ntdetect.com -r -s -h" and "attrib ntldr -r -s -h" When using these, make sure the quotation marks are not used. (Obviously) After that's complete, type exit and let your computer reboot, once powered on, take the CD out, and boot normally. This should work, and you'll be able to use your computer again.

I wanted to know if this error will interfere when I restore my laptop from the discs that I made when I first got it. I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 and Windows 7.  On a side note, if microsoft office was preinstalled on my laptop, where can I find the product key so I can continue to use it again? Thank you.

Hi,
I looked around the forum previously and I found that I am having an almost identical problem to a previous poster. [link:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic238160.html]

I am constantly getting an error message of "The application or DLL globalroot\systemroot\system32\hjgruihtpdrkmy.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." This error message pops up when windows initially starts up before the log-in screen ,with the titles (lsass.exe -Bad Image, and Services.exe -Bad Image), as well as when the desktop loads and whenever I open or start a program (with the specific program .exe -Bad Image title). Note: but the programs do run after clicking okay on the error message.

I had the same issue as the previously aforementioned poster whenever I did a search engine search with firefox: Everytime I clicked on a listed query link I was redirected to a random site. I fixed the redirected problem in the exact same was as the previous poster also, I used Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes seems to have solved the initial problem but now the DLL error message pops up. Unlike the previous poster though, I have not had any blue screen errors.

I have followed the first half of the instructions from the above linked post since the advice he was given seemed to have solved his problem.

I downloaded RootRepeal Rootkit Detector, ran it for the file tab and saved a log.

But the second half of the instructio... Read more

Howdy! This is my first post on here so I apologize for any breach in etiquette on my part.

I recently discovered some issues with my system, mostly unwanted popups that started just a few days ago. I ran through everything in the Read & Run Me First post and it appears to have done the trick with regards to popups. I have not had a single one since completing that marathon of a list!

I did notice something that started acting up shortly BEFORE I began the R&RMF list though.

Whenever I Ctrl-Alt-Del and click Task Manager, I get the error message:

TaskMgr.exe - Bad Image

"The application or DLL C:\Windows\System32\UTILDLL.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."
I have my initial logs from when I ran the various scans/etc. but I did not want to go through that list again in the event that may make my problem worse. That and the post says not to run through it again if you're still having issues.

Another thing I noticed the first time I saw this error was that the User Name column under processes no longer displays MY name. Yesterday there were a lot of block characters in place of this, today there appear to be no names listed. One process is listed with a user name of "SYSTEM" - System Idle Process. Not sure if this is something different or the same root issue.

I also have some hpz files that may (??) be leftover from HP printers I have used in the past. Two still show on my processes... Read more

I get the following error message when I attempt to start WinAmp.exe (Version 5.551).

"The application or dll c:\WINDOWS\system32\MSWMDM.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

Okay so after recording my podcast the other day I left my track in Audacity open... yesterday I went to export it and Audacity crashed, over and over again!

So I rebooted and as my laptop was starting up again I got an error message saying "A disk read error occured, press alt+ctrl+del to restart." Unfortunately, this just takes me on an endless loop.

I can format the HDD and start afresh but there is so much stuff I need to get off the HDD that I CANNOT format, yet.

I have an Internal HDD enclosure to use with USB 2.0, but it says that I need to format the hard disk before opening it in My Computer on my Dad's laptop.

I need to get EVERYTHING off it, including Holiday photo's, Steam Games, and movies!

I have found 2 programs; Recuva (http://www.piriform.com/recuva ) and TestDisk (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk ). Would either of these programs be able to recover any lost data should I choose to go through the re-partition/restore process?

message detail    So as a joke a friend of mine entered that(C://WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/SHUTDOWN -s)in a notepad, as a .batand used it as the target for my firefox shortcut. Now it wont start. Ive deleted the file, the shortcut, and emptied my bin, however, the computer still will not boot out side of SAFE MODE.any solution, is it somewhere as an INF?What happens is after the OS(the windows loading screen before you put in your password) finishes loading, the screen turns blank, and I highly doubt it is a graphics problem. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Looking For Urgent Help (C://Windows/System32/shutdown -s)

I *think* that's a command to shut down Windows.  He was targeting Firefox?I couldn't find information on the -s switch at the end of the command, but there's still a lot of places left to look.Maybe your "friend" isn't as funny as he thinks he is.  Of course, I'm sure he'll have this fixed up in no time for you.

In an upgrade of the hard drive, a Windows XP system32 file "desk.cpl" described as a library file copied only the folder but no content. On every startup I get a message saying that "Windows could not load the monitor installer, contact the hardware vendor for assistance" another message from PNP saying "it found new hardware" and a second from PNP saying " new hardware installed successfully". It seems to me that these must all be related. A new driver set for the monitor was obtained but won't install. Windows pops up the Bad Image message saying check file desk.cpl to the original installation disk and drops all install activity. Now here's the rub - there isn't an original install disk. There is a hard disk partition named drive D: which has an original OS copy, but access from drive C: is denied. It apparently can't be opened from drive C: to copy the bad file only.
A 'restore and repair' CD, made at original setup, has an option to 'restore and repair' which leads to what appears to be MS-DOS, but no instruction on "fixing" just one file. Just says it's made for 'technician diagnostics'. I'm not a technician. Here's my questions:
1. Can I use the DOS command 'copy' "old file name" "new file name" if I go to the D: drive root first and use full path descriptions for old and new?
2. If DOS copy is the correct procedure, I recall ... Read more

Answer:Windows XP system32 file error; "Bad Windows Image"

There is no problem copying a FAT32 file to an NTFS disk; the conversion is automatic. No need to "hide" anything, it will be overwritten. Make sure you have your paths correct.

Hi Guys,

This is quite a long story, So let me get straight to the point.

On my Dell Optiplex 360 Computer (Windows 7-Ultimate) I partitioned the hard drive to make space for another windows installation. I then installed Windows Vista Ultimate on it.

All of that went successfully but after a while it became useless for me and my computer.
I then uninstalled Window Vista and deleted the partition so i would have one partition on my hard drive (Windows 7).

So then every time i started up the PC it would load boot manager and it would ask me if i would like to boot to Windows Vista or Windows 7. I had deleted Windows Vista from my computer so i thought it shouldn't be there.

Then, i found this program that deletes the boot option (As in it deletes Windows Vista off from the boot manager). So then i went ahead and deleted Windows Vista from the boot list. After, i just tested to see it would work, So i restarted my computer and it loaded the boot manager again.

And the problem is that i only have Windows Vista as an option instead of Windows 7 !
I tried to do everything to fix this but it never worked, and when i try to boot to Windows Vista it says that the boot file is missing (Thats because i deleted Windows Vista!!).

So then i put my Window 7 Install Disk in the CD drive and the CD Drive was making a loud buzzing noise. I opened the case and it was literally broken.

So all i need to know is how i can get my option to boot to Windows 7 on my Boot Manager !!?

I ca... Read more

Answer:[URGENT] BOOT LOADER ERROR [URGENT]

Hello adam, welcome to Seven Forums!

If Windows 7 is still there you need to make sure it's the Active partition and if it is do the 3 separate startup repairs discussed in this tutorial to recreate the "System" boot files (back) to Windows 7.

Start by having a look at Option Two #3, to see if it's active.

Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

You can use the outline in this tutorial at the link below to make a bootable USB of the Windows 7 installer and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

This is different to the other problem. I was using Windows OneCure and it kept freezing(probably too many antivirs) I had to closed it and now It looks to have corrupted files as I closed it with ctrl alt del. It comes up with the red ex warning sign saying things such as bad image "is either not designed to run on windows" this is after every program I click on it comes up. Even when I restart my computer I need to click the box to continue. System restore was turned off so that's out of the question. I have logs of Malware Bytes and HiJack this.

I stupidly installed xp on my acer aspire 9300, unknowing that they do not support xp

Huge problem being, that none of the drivers are reconised...

My main concern is getting the internet so i can solve the problem myself.. I need the "ethernet controller" driver i think,

I tried to install driver detective, but of course it couldnt scan because it needs to connect to the internet to complete it..

I am connected with a netgear wireless router..

I just want the internet driver so that i can recover all the other ones with tedious processes, which i have the time to do.. But this is not my computer, so i need to burn the main ones onto a disk.

Any help would be very very much appreciated.

Question: Urgent Help Needed

I was on my laptop today on the internet and out of the blue it blue screened. It said something about _KERNEL_ but the screen was only up for a split second before the screen went black. I shut the laptop off and restarted it but after the Compaq screen, before windows even boots, I get a message in the top left hand corner that says:

A disk read error occurred.
Press ctrl + alt + delete to restart.

Anyways, I went into Bios and ran the "Primary HDD Self-Test" and it failed. I'm not really sure what I'm doing in BIOS Ill admit, but I'm pretty sure that has something to do with it. Is my hard drive dead?

The computer is a Compaq Presario if that makes a difference.

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.

If you can, can you boot up into Safe Mode? If so, anything that is important please transfer to either Flash Drive or burn to CD/DVD as soon as possible.

Others will come along and give sound advice but if your harddrive is failing you need to get your important stuff copied to other sources A.S.A.P.

However, when I have done this I am still getting a black screen with a blinking curser in the top left hand corner. It would seem that I am still doing something wrong, can someone point me in the right driection please.

Answer:More urgent help needed please

Just an ISO file on the USB is not going to let you boot from it. You have to make a bootable USB first. You have to use something like Rufus: Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way to do that.
If your MB doesn't have UEFI bios this one: Windows USB/DVD Download Tool - Microsoft Store is easier to use.

Hi all new here

The boss' computer has went down and this message is displayed at start up. C:\windows\system32\system missing or corrupt. Windows wont boot. I've looked around on the forum and found a few fixes but the problem is we have no recovery disk of any kind and no backup disk (ducks to avoid intense lectures). Is there anything I can do or will he need to take it to the manufacturer or place he bought it.

OS is XP SP2 if this helps but beyond that I have no other specs.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Answer:Urgent help needed please.

ok, couple of things, take the hard drive out and attach it to another pc that is the same make and model and operating system on it, you can make the drive a slave, then copy the "system" file from that pc to the slave hard drive.

thne you can just reinsert the hard drive back in the pc and it will boot up, remember it has to be the same pc.

i have done this before and it works

Please download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.
Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster

Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
Click the X to exit the program.
- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

Please follow all the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Since this appears to be a trojan it would good idea for you to run the "Alternative Scans - If still having problems" section given in the READ ME FIRST thread.

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

im having major problems with my dell inspiron 1545 laptop. ill try be a s breif but as descriptive as needed. i recently carried out a full dell system restore due to the computer freezing. once the restore had been completed the laptop then played up ont the start up with a blue screen carrying out a system dump. once this had finished the laptop operated asif it was brand new?

It then downloaded some automatic updates when connected to the internet and i downloaded vlc media player and everything seemed fine. i then shut down the laptop once more.

on start up the laptop will not proceed past the windows error recovery page!!??!! no matter what option i choose, in any of the menus either by hitting F2 F12 or F5. non of the repair tools work or anything??

the laptop just processes the choice and temporarily reboots and brings me straight back to the windows error recover page.

So i dont know whats going on? is my hard drive still ok? its still saying i have windows 7 but wont load it!

do i need a recovery disk? re install windows?

im not sure, hopefully someone out the might have some sort of idea or advice that i can take to getting it sorted.

any suggestions are welcome

Kind regards

Brett

Answer:Urgent help needed!!!!

Welcome Bret,
Not much that I can do but take an educated guess. You had a problem which resulted in you making a restore. This resulted in a blue screen and the problem continued. It seems to be a hardware problem with the computer. It can be the hard drive; as well as many other problems.
Do you hear any beeps when you try to boot? Try with speakers on.

Question: URGENT HELP NEEDED

So I live at home with my parents and they've been getting weird emails lately from 'MAILER-DAEMON' and 'Mail delivery system' saying we've got undelivered mail. We've been getting hundreds of these over about the last two weeks.

Today we got an email supposedly from Westnet, our internet provider. It said our mail system was infected with a virus and we needed to call their number in the email.

That was about an hour ago. My mother (against everything I told her) has since called the number and gotten 'live support' via the phone. It involved basically the guy on the phone taking complete control over our computer: mouse, keyboard, everything; and showing my mother what needed to be done.

it involved completely reconfiguring our modem, giving them our address and installing 'malwarebytes' off a site called Ninite.

My mother is insisting he's just a friendly support person who's doing this all for free. Am I being paranoid? Because we have a decent amount of fairly sensitive information on that computer.

Answer:URGENT HELP NEEDED

Look up the ISP's actual phone number and call them up to ask if anything like that had actually been going on, and if that's their actual procedure or not.

I would be hesitant as well.

Hi, alnic123

Welcome.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.
Running SDFix in Safe Mode:

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Question: Urgent Help Needed

Holy ****, hey folks. Got a real problem. Today i booted up my Computer only to notice that it said my CPU was running at 1.2ghz, this is NOT right as it normally runs at 2080ghz (being an AMD XP 2800+)

What the hell is going on? Both Everest and DXDIAG are showing this, please help me.

I recently updated my BIOS but there were no errrors. Also, you may know if you've been following my threads that my CPU was overheating not that long ago could my BIOS have dropped the speed to 1.2ghz to 'cool' the PC down? My PSU is also not supplying enough power and so ordered a new one, which should arrive tommorow.

Will adding my new PSU set the CPU clock back to 2080ghz, god i hope so.

C'mon, need your help desperately.

:O :O :O

Answer:Urgent Help Needed

Hello,

It seems that your FSB has been lowered.... It should be 12.5 x 166 for an AMD Athlon XP 2800+.

Post a screenshot or a report of the Motherboard page to show the Front Side Bus Properties and Memory Bus Properties.

Perhaps your BIOS hasn't detected your CPU correctly. Try resetting your BIOS, or see if you can correct the FSB in BIOS.

Oh and...how many watts is your current PSU? If it's 400W that is more, than enough...

Question: Urgent Help Needed

Well today I just installed a fresh copy of Windows XP because I had been using 64-bit and the evaluation copy ran out. This meant that my computer was shutting down about every hour or so, forcing me to either purchase 64-bit or 32-bit. I chose 32 bit and installed it and everything. So after the installation and everything, nothing seems to be working right. My soundcard isnt working properly, when I try to play music it says "There is an error with your sound device" or something like that. The internet also isnt working. The only object on the desktop is the trash can...this never happened on my previous computer when I would re-install windows. It might have been because it was just a restore disk and I guess it included everything I needed to have my computer get up and running on that disk. Well I need some help because I am totally lost on what to do now. I can get drivers and whatnot on this computer and transfer them to my other one, but would that help my soundcard or anything work? What about the internet? What do I have to do to get that up and running? Thanks for the help and sorry if this was long, but I need your help.

Answer:Urgent Help Needed

ok, so to start, you need to reconfigure the desktop to be more like win2k. To do this, right click the start bar, and select properties. Then select classic start menu. This will get you setup for now.
Then you need to get drivers. The problem you are having is that you don't have the needed/correct drivers for your machine. Start by listing out the hardare you have installed, and we can post links, or you can find it your self...

Good luck

I have an Iomega 120GB fire wire/usb external hdd using O/S xp home + xp proffessional. It was working fine, i have 2 computers and have been able to use it on both working fine. Usually it just does plug-n-play when i plug it in with usb and brings up the folder for the drive, but today i was sorting some files on it and then i switched it off. A while later i plugged it into my computer and it brought up its usual message "Plugging hi-speed usb device into non-hi-speed usb hub click this message to fix", but this time the hard drive did not show up in my computer and locked up my computer until i took it out of the usb port. So i went to device manager and plugged it in again it now comes up as a usb device instead of a hard drive which it usually comes up as. I tried reinstalling the driver off the disk that came with it but this had no effect . Please help, thanks

Question: Urgent Help Needed

HI, on my other computer when i turn on the computer it says theres an error loading up the login screen (the screen that allows you to choose the user you are) and says you need to debug, however, if you go to debug it restarts the computer, if you choose to close the log in screen application it restarts the computer, and if you don't do anything it will restart the computer in a few seconds!!!!

What should i do, i cant even get on the computer!!!

I have windows XP by the way

Answer:Urgent Help Needed

Can you boot your PC in safe mode? Something may be loading at the same time that causes it to crash.

Just keep hitting F8 after the BIOS loads and select safe mode.

I have stored some really important work on a 128mb memory stick (/pen drive). It has been workin fine till today wen i pluggd it in and windows says"USB device not recognized - One Of the usb devices on this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it." Wot can i do. wihtout this work im really in a mess. I thort i ad backup copies as well but i didnt. wot can i do

Answer:Help Needed Urgent!!!

"wot can i do"1). Use a thread title that actually describes your problem, NOT "Help Needed Urgent!!!"2). Try the memory stick in another PC. If that doesn't recognise it, you have probably lost the files on the memory stick.3). Use English rather than text-speak; which not all of us understand.
