Yellow triangle in system tray!!!

Question: Yellow triangle in system tray!!!

Hi All,

Hope you can give me a hand on this one. Everytime I plug my internet to my PC, a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark flashes in the system tray. Additionally, there is a pop-up window that constantly shows up

"Critical system warning. Your system is probably infected with latest version of spyware.Cyberlog-X." along with some more data. My IE homepage has been changed to http://htepo.com/cehpmoin/?cmp=hmr&l...981B29CCF352F2
and I have been unable to change this. Also, I keep receiving constant pop-ups in IE saying that I'm infected.

I have tried to do some work on my own, but I have not been successful. Ran AVG anti-spyware 7.5, Spyware Doctor, Ad-aware SE personal, Norton Antivirus and eliminated all threats, and the problem persists. I have also tried to monitor active processes that might trigger the problem, but I cannot identify the one affecting my system. I considered to setup a sniffer trace or a packet capture to see what is happening in the background, but did not perform this step, as I think this has to do with a process, and not internet traffic.
I followed your suggestion about running online panda scan, however it wont allow me to do that.

http://www.pandasecurity.com/actives...an/ascan_2.asp

From FireFox: The specified request cannot be executed from current Application Pool

IE: HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden

A laptop PC with IE7 launches just fine, so I?m not sure if this has to do with my problem. I downloaded the trial version of the Panda software, however it requests to uninstall Norton SystemWorks, so I did not proceed further. Note that I have not installed the eval version of the Panda software.
Here is the log I collected from HijackThis (WinXP SP2 spanish version):

Preferred Solution: Yellow triangle in system tray!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Yellow triangle in system tray!!!

Hi,

As a quick follow up, while doing further testing with Sysinternals process monitor, everytime a yes-no pop-up window opens up, there is a "Thread create" and "thread exit" for winlogon.exe (sequence 0 and 1040). When the yellow triangle shows up in the system tray, EXPLORER.exe shows up with "Thread create" and "thread exit" as you can see in sequence 363641 and 364262. I'm attaching an export from process monitor. You can open it up with the application by going to file > open option.

Hi there. I'm currently getting this yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside it in the system tray at bootup. I have a feeling it may have something to do with Avira Antivir (Free) as when I had Norton 2009 installed a few days ago it didn't appear, though it did when I had Antivir installed before that. I've done scans using the NOD32 and F-Secure on-line scans. They picked up nothing. I've done scans using SUPERAntispyware, Malwarebytes and Combofix, as well as Antivir itself. They too picked up nothing, so I pretty confident that this isn't a piece of malicious software. I thought it might have something to do with disabling the Splash screen for Antivir, but I've done the same process to Antivir on another computer and that doesn't have this problem. I removed the tweak just in case and this didn't solve the problem.

When I scroll over the triangle I get no pop-up with any information, and when I click on it it goes away immediately.

This is my HijackThis log when the triangle has appeared:

All help very much appreciated.

Answer:Yellow Cautionary Triangle In System Tray

Hi

Dont think a HJT log will help as dont think its malware related and HJT logs ( log looks clean on quick glance ) are not a great troubeshooting tool, think more along the lines that with the icon your describing that its a software issue , possibly you still may have components of Norton on your PC, so run the removal tool from here

Also check the Event Viewer for any alerts around the time of this yellow triangle warning.

This all started when I tried downloading a program from a questionable site. If I were to leave my computer running all night there is six or seven pop-ups about how my computer is infected and what I need to buy to get rid of it, or there is pop-ups offering for me to get laid tonight. There are also a few casino pop-ups trying to get me to gamble. These just come up randomly when I am using the computer. There is also a flashing yellow triangle in the system tray, which if i right or left click it does the same thing, goes to a site called thespygaurd.com, to try to get me to purchase an anti-spyware program. The triangle also makes a pretty annoying little popping sound about once a minute. My homepage in Internet Explorer was changed from Google to sysprotectionpage.net and a pop-up comes up that says I have a virus, [email protected], and I should click okay to download software to uninstall it. One more thing, I have installed and ran numerous programs to try and get rid of this. I had a different problem in which a red bubble popped up from the system tray that said I was infected, but I do not remember what the icon was. One of the many programs I used got rid of that problem. I have used Ad-Aware, Ewido, Spybot S&D, Housecall, Bit Defender, and McAfee Stinger. I hope this is enough information, and I really would appreciate any help you could give me on this matter. Thank you very much in advance.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 10:38:11 AM, ... Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmdSelect option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). We?ll get them next step. Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

Hi there, I was looking for some help concerning this really annoying piece of adware on my system.

It is characterized by several key features:

+ there is a blinking yellow triangle in my system tray. It disappears whenever I click on it (both right and left) and every 30-60 seconds it gives me a little balloon message telling me that my system is infected with a "black door trojan" or a "PSW.X virus". I've looked through my start-up programs and it is not there and I have no idea where it comes from nor any idea on how to locate the source.

+ There are two files on my desktop which respawn if I delete them. They are both targeting a site (url: http://www.htepo.com/cehpmoin/?cmp=h1&lid=2_18 ). Their file names are as follows: Live Safety Center.lnk and Online Security Guide.lnk

-----
That site is a known spyware/adware site apparently. I have yet to check it personally but this is what google has been telling me and I don't mind listening to google.
-----

+ I get a popup every few minutes from IE telling me to download some random spyware blocker. This annoyed me a lot so I neutralized that by having IE run on a proxy (0.0.0.0 on Port 80).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally, I have a HJT log if that would be of any assistance. Any advice you guys can provide would be most appreciated and I would like to thank anyone who replies in advance for their consideration.

I have a yellow triangle in my system tray with the pop up stating that:

Windows has detected spyware infection.
It is recommended to use special antispyware tools to prevent data loss. windows will not download and install the most up to date antispyware for you. Click here to protect your computer from spyware.

The box just sits there open on top of everything else.
Can you please tell me how to fix this? I have done the steps with removing things from add/remove programs that the forum listed, and then I ran the Panda ActiveScan and here is the results:

The easier the solution the better...I'm not real computer savvy. Thank you.

Hi all,
Just a minor issue. When I boot up (or restart) my PC, all my system icons appear as they should, but a yellow triangle appears over the network icon (it is a wired connection). It goes away after a few seconds and internet access is normal. It never used to do this until a few days ago. Is this a normal thing? My PC boots up very quickly, as ages ago I disabled loads of useless start up programs. Aside from this, all is fine. The PC is Windows 7, with MSE security. Out of curiosity I actually uninstalled the security package to see if that was the cause, but it was the same. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Yellow triangle over system tray network icon

I would say its normal, perhaps the driver has been updated and it just takes longer to connect.
Mine has done the same.

Good evening )
I am having a new error which has started in the last few days or so. A yellow triangle with an exclamation point is in the system tray. It appears every few minutes or so then disappears.

My system specs are:

Intel Centrino
HP 30D5
Intel i945GM/GME
Intel Core Duo T2300E @ 1666MHz
2048MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family
Western Digital WD800BEVT-22ZCT0 ATA Device (80GB)
Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530B

Windows Vista ™ Home Basic Home Edition 6.00.6001 Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
DirectX : Version 10.0
Windows Performance Index : 3.0 on 5.9
The error reads
Visicom_antiphishing.exe - Corrupt File

''The file or directory C:\Users\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\TemporaryInternetFiles\Content.IE5\P6T9NGX3\Stamp[1].txt is corrupt and unreadable''

I am also experiencing blue screen crashes, 2 in the last week with writing which is too small to read!
I stupidly deleted that file in the hope it would regenerate itself but this didn't work, obviously.

Any help would be much appreciated

Nadine

A couple of weeks ago I began receiving a triangular error message on my desktop with various messages reporting spyware or suspicious files on my system and offering a free scan. When I click the triangle I am directed to at least 3 different sites all advertising anti-spyware software. Also, when I use Google and click on a lick a blank page is loaded or I am taken to another search engine website. I get between 2 and 4 of these error messages per day and usually when I open Internet Explorer and occasionally when I open Windows Explorer. I have used both AVG and Spybot but neither detected or solved the problem. Also, after running Hijack This I noticed a file in the system32 folder called dmserve.dll which when I hover the cursor over gives no info other than the file name and creation date and does not seem to be a Microsoft file nor has any connection with disk management I aslo get the same result when I right click for properties. I have been unble to delete this file and its registry entry in both normal and safe mode. The file was created around the time that the problems began I have since found out that dmserve.dll is a trojan but have been unable to find any information with regards to its removal and my AV program (nod32) does not even detect its presence. I have downloaded and installed 3 apps on or just prior to the problem starting 2 of which were cracked. All 3 have since been removed.

Saturday, I updated to the Windows 7 SP1. Soon after, I started having this problem with a yellow triangle in the tray icon where the interenet access indicator is that says "no internet access". This is a bogus message, but its still annoying.

This went away if you reboot, and then later maybe that same day the traiangle would reappear. Each time I did still have internet access.

I tried several other things like getting rid of IE 9 which I updated to during the same day and maybe a couple of other updates around this time.
Last night (Thur) was to get rid of the SP1 after several failed attempts. I had to do so by using the cmd WUSA etc instead of through the control panel, because it kept getting stuck trying to do the uninstall through the control panel uninstall method.

This morning, it did not yet have the yellow triangle, and I will check it again this afternoon after work to make sure it has not come back again.

Has anyone had a suspicion of this type of problem, or better yet, do you have any ideas why SP1 would cause such a situation?

Thanks,

This is probably a hardware driver issue with your particular wifi/nic/whatever. Fill out your system specs so we can see what hardware and software you have installed. (Don't just post your specs in your next reply, fill out the "my system specs" portion of your profile.)

Ny Network Tray Icon has a yellow triangle on it when I login to Windows, however I can still connect to the internet. All I have to do is click Internet Explorer and the triangle goes away. It is annoying to have to do that at every logon. Can anyone help me with this. I did not make any changes that I know of that would have created this problem.

Answer:Network Tray Icon has a yellow triangle.

It may help if you right click it and select troubleshoot, no promises though!

Hi,

Last night I bit the bullet again & upgraded to windows 10 & then did a clean install. I have noticed that the network icon in the system tray shows a yellow triangle & says no access but I can surf fine with chrome & use qbitorrent etc.

The only way I can get rid of the yellow triangle is to disable the network adapter & then re enable it.

Not using any third party firewall as private fireall doesn't support windows 10.

Any ideas?

Answer:Network icon in tray has yellow triangle but net works fine

Try uninstalling your network adapter but don't tick the box where it says "delete driver" then rescan for hardware changes.

Answer:Yellow Triangle Not Going/Some time yellow triangle goes but then also not working

we do no provide remote support on the P Chere

using xirrus see what sort of signal you are getting around the house
if the strength is -70 or lower (note negative number) then that would be why you have a connection issue as the signalis not strong enough in those areas
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

i think my issue may be due to some malware. I have noticed recently that when playing crysis or STALKER the games eventually will show some slowing and odd studering. when exiting either game i notice a yellow triangle in my taskbar. hovering over it yeilds no info and clicking it does nothing. i also noticed in a hijack this scan that there are multiple instances of internet explorer listed. i never use IE so its kind of odd. I dont understand what is causing the slowing or the triangle. so here is the dds log:

My computer has been taken over!! I will go to websites and randomly being taken to others. A yellow triangle pops up at random times telling me either: You have been infected by spyware or your computer is running slowly. I have checked the Control Panel = Device Manager and there are no system problems. I have run ATF Cleaner, Hijack This - Removed all the infected 02's etc.OT2, SDfix, Malware Bytes, and Combofix. It still happens. Also my desktop turned blue and had a spyware warning on it. Win_perfomance was installed somehow along with internetsomething? The internetsomething deleted after I ran all the programs but Win_performance still appears. Can anyone help me? I have included a screenshot.

Answer:Yellow Triangle With Exclamation Point - Not System Problem

Give running the SmitFraudFix a go and post the scan repot back, please. For XP/2K/2003/Vista onlyPlease download SmitfraudFixDouble-click SmitfraudFix.exeSelect option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).

Hi I have a little yellow triangle with an exclamtaion mark on it appearing with various different warnings about malware threats, system performance monitor: warning, security alert: spyware found. It is also suggesting I have Trojans(PSW.X-VIR Trojan, [email protected]) and that I need to download antivirus software to take care of it.... I also get popup internet explorer browsers if I try to look for a resolution(well basically if I surf in any form). Finally there are two new icons on my desktop called Online Security Guide(green icon) and Live Safety Centre(blue icon)

I've downloaded, installed and run AVG AntiSpyware free edition & SmitfraudFix (by S!R!) in safe mode but it didnt seem to help any.

Hopefully someone can help me get this resolved please?

Sometimes Windows 7 SP1 shows a warning triangle on the WiFi system tray icon. The warning triangle is a yellow triangle with a black exclamation point in it.

Here is how it looks:

How does one determine what is causing that warning?

The WiFi works fine. The icon's tooltip shows the correct SSID, with "Internet access" in italics below it. Clicking on the icon shows that Windows is connected to the correct SSID. Everything seems to work fine, but Windows must think there is some sort of issue. There is no indication, outside of the triangle of what that issue could be.

What's causing that warning triangle?

Answer:Warning triangle on WiFi system tray icon

When I get that, it means I have no internet connection. I can ping the router but no outside stuff

So last Friday I put a new hard drive in my wife's laptop and restored her circa 2005 Windows XP. Much to my chagrin Norton was not activated and there was no SP2. I know not putting them both in was what led me down this road and don't need to be told I'm dumb, tyvm. So on Friday my wife was surfing, weather.com I think, and got blitzed with malware and viruses. I've put in SP2 and put in AVG antivirus, plus Adaware and all the other tools I needed to cleanse. However, even after running all the programs and following ALL the steps I still get a yellow triangle popup in the system tray (which tells me I'm infected with spyware and goes to system defender) and, when I run a browser, 2 types of Security Warning/Integrity popups, which tell me to install pc-antispyware. So ANY help would be appreciated. SAS, MBAM, and MGtools logs are attached.

Thanks trillions in advance!

C

PS I'm not sure MGTools worked completely to generate the log, even after I installed .net 3.5 . ANYway!

Hi,I've had this really annoying triangle with an exclamation mark in my system tray since yesterday and no spyware program seems to be able to detect it, leave alone remove it. I do not know what it is, but upon searching through google, I see experts pointing out that it could possibly be a SmitFraud spyware. Searching more on that led me to this website. I've tried the basic steps provided on this website regarding installign SmitFraudFix.exe don't seem to work. There was a similar program Smitrem.exe. That didn't seem to work either. I have some kind of a trojan but am not able to find much about it on a Google Search. When I boot my XP system I get a yellow shield in the system tray which runs a SVCHOST.exe process that consumes the system and locks it up. However, if I run Task Manager right after the boot I can catch the process starting and kill it. The system works fine after that except the little shield stays in the system tray. I have run a number of utilities such as Norton AV, Killbox, and Vundofix but I still have the problem. Any suggestions?

Dell Vostro 1400, Core2Duo. Installed Windows 7 64 bit a year and a half ago. For those not familiar, the Vostro is not entirely compatible with 64 bit, so the drivers are a little hit and miss.

Computer runs slow sometimes, has since the install. I don't think I've ever seen the yellow triangles before, but I may have never looked at the device manager ... the computer is a secondary machine in the house.

My question is, do these indicate a performance problem or can I ignore them and assume the computer is working as best it can?

Answer:Base system device, core processors yellow triangle in device manager

please check out this webpage. it may help you to get started: Device Manager - yellow exclamation point

The yellow icons showing an exclamation point can indicate missing or improper drivers. The system does not seem to recognizing your hardware. Hope this gets you started.

I can't get rid of this bugger. It loads on boot and displays "Security warning: your computer may be infected with harmful or unwanted software!". When you click on it, it loads IE and fakes a malware scanning program or something like that.

I ran a SpyBot, AdAware and MS Defender and they say the machine is clean, as does my Symantec. Clearly that's not the case.

Can anyone help? I think ?ervices.exe and "spoolsv.exe -vt yazb" look fishy.

Hello all, I will try to be as descriptive as possible about this issue, I am working on a pc that is infected with some sort of malware. I tried many virus scans and Malware/Spyware removal tools, but haven't had any luck. All I can really tell you about this issue is I have a blue background that says "Warning spyware has been detected on your pc, you computer has several fatal errors do to spyware activity" then a link below directing me to more spyware. Also I cannot get into my task manager it is grayed out, and I recieve a yellow triange in my system tray stating that my computer is infected and then a website pops up "top rated spyware removers." Occasionally I will recieve a Windows Security Center popup (red) showing me that it found trojans and wants me to download their software to remove it. Any help or tools anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer:Blue Spyware Desktop and Repeated Yellow Triangles In System Tray

Apoligies for the double post. Here's information that I should have put in the original post:

The computer in question is an HP laptop. Its not the one that I'm using to post this. The HP laptop won't connect wirelessly to our network here at the house. Its not able to renew the IP address, and giving the limited or no connectivity error. Therefore, I can't get the computer to connect to the internet to apply any updates. I am moving programs and logs back and forth to the HP laptop via a memory stick.

Hope this helps!

Hello, I am new to the forum. I have been spending this week updating my laptop. I have seen improvment but one. While I am applying for jobs on a particular site, after checking the appropriate boxes I get an exclamation point in a yellow triangle asking me to make a selection. Even though I have done that several times, it's just not recognizing that I have checked these boxes. When I look into tools of browser & click on error console there are several items pertaining to fonts, etc. on this site. so I cannot complete the job application process.

What can I do/or you can help me step by step so that I can use this site? Thanks.

can you post a link - is it always the same type of link - which selections are causing issues - it may be the site rather than you , what web browser are you using ?

I keep getting a little yellow triangle with a ! on it in the lower right hand corner of the screen by the clock. Every few minutes while I on the internet, I will hear a "pop" sound and it will show up. I have tried right-clicking on it and left-clicking on it, and when I do, it will just disappear. Also, when I put the cursor on it, it won't even tell me what it is, as with the other icons on that task bar.

HELP! I have run a partial virus/spyware scan and it came up clean. I am now running a scan on ALL files, and am now waiting for that to be completed.

My husband installed a wireless router this weekend (for use with our laptop and our Wii), and also installed software from our internet provider that is supposed to upgrade our service to make it faster. Could either one of these be the cause?

TIA.

Answer:Yellow triangle

and welcome to the Forum

Are you connecting wired or wireless?

With the pc connected to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Hi

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which we would have had you run last time you had malware infection as they are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
Bitdefender - from step 6
Panda Scan - from step 6
runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require tha... Read more

Question: Yellow Triangle

Hi Guy,I work in a school and they are setting up a new ICT suite. I teach Math?s so my networking knowledge is very basicThe ICT tech has wired the room in cat5 (from each of the 20 machines back to a 3 com 24 port switch) The internet will be provided by a BT business hub and internet package (the phone line has still to be put in) so no broadband router yet.The tech connected all the pc?s (XP pro) to the 3 com switch today and each machine has the yellow triangle (limited or no connectivity) on the network icon.I would be most grateful of you could answer the below questions 1. Why is this message appearing (is it something to do with the ip address)2. When the BT broadband router comes and is installed into the switch will this limited or no connectivity error disappear. (Can you explain why??)3. If say hypothetical they just wanted the room for just sharing files and printing and no Internet is it possible to remove this error.Once again I would appreciate any info on the above. It might seem very simple to you but any insight would be great.RegardsDiarmuid

Answer:Yellow Triangle

Hello. I am working on a company computer that someone got a virus on. At the time there was no antivirus software in use. After the issue came up, someone tried to install Symantec Antivirus 9.0 corporate, but screwed up the install, and now I can't remove it because of a corrupt install. I tried to follow the symantec web page for how to remove it manually from the registry, but that failed. So, i am unable to install any other virus software at this time other than norton system works, which is crap, and did not find any problems. As with the flashing triangle, comes an array of pop-ups and a slow computer. Also, half the time when i start the computer, explorer fails to load, and I have to manually launch it from the taskbar menu to get it running. Here is the hi-jack this log AND an online virus scan from Kaspersky. If anyone has any help or ideas, please let me know. Thanks again in advance for any help you can offer. I don't know if this is a software related issue, but here goes. I've suddenly been getting a small yellow warning triangle popping up in my taskbar. If I click on it, either right or left, it just disappears and won't lead me anywhere or offer information etc - not very helpful. It then reappears pretty quickly and just sits there. What is going on & where should I look for more information?

I live in the Philippines out in the country away from the city because of location have to use broadband internet.    Up till a couple weeks ago it was not all that bad and especially during off peak hours, early morning.

The signal is not all that good and I installed an 850-2100 MhZ signal booster, really helped and eliminated several problems.

All of a sudden unable to connect to the internet during day time hours.  I get a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and no internet access.  Signal strength is above 90%, good strong signal but no access.  During off peak hours, midnight to 8 or 9 AM there is no connection problem and for here it's fast.

I have tried a different laptop and also a differnet USB modem, new SIM card and have the same results, no internet access during peak hours.

Have a paper trail at least a mile long to the internet provider and their response is always the same thing......"We are sorry for your inconvenience and have forwarded your problem to our technical team."  Biggest problem is "THEY"  are the only game in town!!!!  No choice, tried the competition and the connections is so slow that it is not usable.

Can anyone offer suggestions for sloving this problem.

I am 70 years old and retired, the internet is my link to the outside world and am tired of getting up at 2AM to get online!!!!

thanx,

LRAYT

I am not sure this will work but see if changing your DNS servers to OpenDNS or Google DNS solves the problem. Write down any current DNS servers addresses in case you need to revert. Remember to flush your DNS and browser caches.

Quote:

Right click on the system tray or taskbar, click "properties" then click "customize" then look for "Past Items" you should see your Yellow Triangle with an explanation beside it.

Check Device Manager, click "show hidden devices" and report any flagged devices here.

How much free space do you have left on your HD ?

Check for BIOS update.

There seems to be a BUNCH of possible causes, but it seems also that the consensus is that this is a serious problem that should be investigated.

If none of the above is useful, I'd start searching from here:

Answer:coprocessor with yellow triangle please help!

The website pcidatabase.com let's you look up unknown hardware. Based on what you posted, it seems to be an Nvidia nForce System Management Controller. I'm taking this to mean you have an Nvidia-based motherboard. There is likely a driver available for this on your motherboard's website. If Windows update doesn't find it, go there and download the driver.

Hello, I am having problems with a yellow triangle with a exclamation mark in it popping up in my task bar next to the clock. I was trying to go to MSN website and fire fox said it could not find the address. That is when I noticed the yellow triangle. Friday night my wife had an ad pop up saying your computer is infected click here to fond out how to clean it. I figured it was adware so I ran my Avast virus scan and it found a couple viruses that it quarantined. That happened Friday and today is the first time I have seen the yellow triangle.
I am running WinXP SP2 (tried downloading SP3 but it kept dying in the middle of download), use fire fox except when doing updates for microsoft ( I use IE8 for that). Here is the log I got from Hijack This. If any more info is needed let me know. And thank you very much.

It's an add from some malware you have installed.

Download HijackThis from this link:

Click the downloaded file. It will extract to Program Files\HijackThis. Run it from that location and copy the log. Paste it here for analysis.

i have been getting a yellow triangle appearing in my toolbar the last few months. it stays for a couple of minutes then disappears. while it is there the other toolbar icons do not display their names when i hover over them.
i have not left-clicked the triangle at all.
the only malware detected by AVG recently was a false positive trojan.
i enclose a picture of the toolbar complete with yellow triangle.

what will happen if i leave it ?
also is it safe to use the Combifix program as i have read several reports that it may contain rootkits ?

This is not the yellow triangle in the taskbar. When my antivirus attempts to load, i get a dialog box with yellow triangle and a exclamation point in it, with no text. I attempted to format my drive, which did not resolve the issue. I attempted to use the DDS thing to get all my processes, but I guess it does not support vista 64. No amount of google searching has helped me so far... Hopefully someone is able to help me out. Thanks a lot for your time. Here is a ss of the error box. I get it when i try to turn on Mcafee antivirus.

OS: Windows Vista home premium 32-bitEvery so often whilst running applications (games mainly) the program appears to freeze, and the sound will play in a 'broken loop' for a few seconds (i.e. repeat the same part over and over). The screen will then go black, and after a few more seconds the program will be back to normal (Unless it's an online game in which case the game's protection shield will close it down). After this a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark appears in the notification area of the task bar. Clicking it does nothing/opens no menus. In the 'customize notification items' window it is called "".I've read around for help with this and tried;- uninstalling all Adobe products- checking for any suspicious processes in the task manager (though to be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking for)- Running scans using AVG anti-virus, AVG anti-spyware and SUPERantispyware- Running SmitFraudFix.exe as detailed hereI've uploaded a picture of the triangle hereI'm a technical newb, so if you're kind enough to help, please be patient with me! ^^;Thanks

Answer:Yellow Triangle On Task Bar

My experience of this has only been on XP but the only time I have ever seen an exclamation triangle in the taskbar is when I've run out of RAM for the system or graphics card (graphics cards only in certain configs). Windows may be increasing your page file on your hard drive and shifting some stuff on to it, which could be causing running programs to freeze momentarily.
Is your graphics card dedicated or shared?
How much RAM do you have?
The default pagefile setting is "Let windows define my page file size" You could try setting this to a manual setting, possibly about 1gb.

Hope this helps!

Hello it seems that whenever I launch a 3d application for longer then 10 minutes I get a black exclamation point encased in a yellow triangle. First however, within my application the entire screen would flash on and off then it would stop responding.

With the information I could find before posting on this forum it seems to be a virus of some kind that nod32 and SuperAntiSpyware were unable to remove. Of course there also seems to be a windows error with this same picture, however it gave me no clue as to why it was there.

Also note: Ever since I installed service pack 1 Windows Defender and Windows Mail have DLL errors, (Mpclient not found for Windows Defender) (MSOE not found for Windows Mail) however both .dll files are still in their respective folder.

Heres my Hijack this log, thanks in advance.

Answer:how do i get rid of the yellow triangle with ! in the middle ??

Right-click it or mouse-over it and see what it says... Probably a display or internet problem... If you just want to sugar coat the problem, you could right-click the taskbar, and change the options so that icon is always hidden. If you're using Win XP, it should be in the XP, not Vista, forum.

Ok, I'm new so sorry if this is in the wrong place. Anyways recently over the past few days I've noticed two flashing triangles in the taskbar. One just flashes and randomly puts up that balloon trying to make me download programs. The other changes between a yellow triangle and a blue spikey ball, also popping up balloons. My homepage has also changed, it keeps blocking off certain webpages that I frequently visit (like my email inbox and one of my forums), it brings up lots of popups, and the classic: my computer has slowed down tremendously. I noticed I had a lot of programs (my dad downloaded them while I was out *sigh*) like PestTrap, Virus-Bursters, WinAntiVirus Pro 2006, that were the cause most probably. I followed instructions and went into safe mode etc. I managed to get rid of them all (or what I know of) except WinAntiVirus Pro 2006. It's currently sitting in my Control Panel refusing to uninstall. Still I'm getting all the symptoms from before (though I think it's gotten worse) so I'm not sure if the other programs have actually gone. I ran HijackThis and these are the results I got. Please help.

Hi guys,

I have just noticed these 2 icons on ''My Computer'' page. A yellow triangle and a green circle.

I'm happy with the green circle, but the yellow triangle is annoying me.

I've had a look in device manager but no problems there, I've also looked in event viewer for errors but there is nothing wrong there either.

Any help would be great.

TIA

Answer:Yellow exclamation triangle

You could run a chkdsk /r as an administrator from the cmd prompt, but have a look in Action Center to see if anything is flagged.

Have you been using any tune-up programs or registry cleaners ?

Posting for a friend, who has a virus that puts the yellow triangle with an exclamation point on the toolbar, warning of viruses. It slows down the computer significantly, and makes browsers almost unusable. AVG has said that there could be upwards of nine trojans, and healing does nothing, vaulting asks to make sure you wish to force it. I told her not to, as the virus could be on a system file. Anyways, here's the log, thanks for the help:

hi there

I am working on a laptop and ever since it got the virus I have had the yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it and the wireless internet doesnt seem to want to connect anymore. I search around for ways to fix this and i found out about smitfraudfix and used it and now the yellow triangle is gone. But the internet still doesnt work. I installed Bitdefender Antivirus and removed the trojan that it found but it seems like the computer is still hot since it has been an abnormal amount of trojan trying to get in.

I have included the HJT log and Smitfraudfix log of after the removal of the yellow triangle. PLZ help and thx.

Good afternoon,

Pop-up after pop-up after pop-up.....annoying to say the least. I clicked to install ActiveX the other day and now I am getting a yellow triangle with an "!" inside of it. It keeps telling me that my computer is infected with a Trojan. When I click it it takes over my msn.com-directed homepage on IE and replaces it with some random Anti Virus "fix" site.

I am not advanced with code, I would consider myself an Intermediate computer user. Also, I do not have the funds to purchase software online to make these fixes...so "free" is my friend right now.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

Matt

one pop up is a window with the title: Windows Internet Explorer
[email protected] is a virus that infects with .exe extentions.
(I never do, I know better) it then goes on to say it steals passwords and private info.
the other thing is the yellow triangle in the start button icon bar on right side at the bottom of the screen, blinking on and off, I click it to see what it says it states: bestseller antivirus installer, that is the title, under that
it states: please click continue to protect your pc against viruses, identity theft, spying, and unauthorized downloads. by clicking continue button, you are accepting our terms and conditions. the words: terms and conditions is a link in blue. then at the bottom. it has a continue button. I just click the X button at the top to close it.
One more thing is 2 two Icons i keep deleting and they keep coming back. they are as states: "Online Security Guide" and the other one is "Live Safety Center" Keep trying to get rid of them and can find where they are seated, when I run regedit. I ran your combo spyware download and I also ran Hijack this and saved it. I need to know what to do from here without format and reinstalling because to backup some of my info. they could be hiding and waiting for me to reinstall that to come back. BY THE WAY, THIS IS WINDOWS XP ON AN EMACHINE W3507 DESKTOP
Another pop-up window states: " Security Warning" you are unprotected New Variant of [email protected] troja... Read more

After reviwing several discussions on this topic, and trying various recommendations, I am still stuck. No anti-cirus or spyware program is picking it up, and I am left to ask a question. :-) Kaspersky has been able to "block" the events, but some still come thru. Some errors I get are explorer.exe is trying to connect to the internet, there is a keylogger, and some other random events attached to main processes. Also, Kaspersky shows something about "invader (loader" is trying to change files. Here is my hijack this log. If anyone could help, I would ppreciate it greatly. Answer:Yellow Triangle In Taskbar With Pop Up

In addition, another messege that comes up is c:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe is trying to inject other programs. It is listed as riskware, and I keep denying the action. Also, i know that something with the vmcgypjf.dll is a virus, I just can't get rid of it. I'll fix it in hi-jack and then it just reappears. I'm just trying to give as much info as possible. Also, i ran spybot SandD, and it found nothing.
