Uninstalling program deleted Program File Junction point

Question: Uninstalling program deleted Program File Junction point

Hello,

My computer is setup to use a 120gb SSD for my OS (Windows 7 ultimate 64bit) and a 2Tb hard drive for my program files, user folders etc. I use junction points to link the program files and user files from C:\ to D:\. This normally works like a charm however I recently updated iTunes and it deleted my C:\Program Files (x86) junction point and created a Program Files (x86) folder on the C:\ drive, this completely roots my system as all my Program Files (x86) are stored on my D:\ drive and now my computer can't find them since the junction point has been deleted. How can it do this and most importantly any reason as to why it's doing this? It's an easy fix on my end as all I have to do is put back in my windows installation disk boot from it and remake the junction point but it's a real pain to do it when it shouldn't happen in the first place.

Also after remaking the Junction point I decided to uninstall iTunes and it once again deleted my junction point while uninstalling.

(Note: My Program Files, and User, junction points have worked as normal and have not been deleted just my Program Files (x86) junction point. I am creating my junction points using the command mklink "C:\Program Files (x86)" "D:\Program Files (x86)" /J)

Does anyone have any ideas to why this is happening? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Nairda.

Preferred Solution: Uninstalling program deleted Program File Junction point

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After I used the Revo Uninstaller utility to remove a program from a Vista laptop, the icon for the Recycle Bin was removed from the desktop. When I manually deleted a few files afterwards I also noticed they took about a minute to actually delete. This came after I not only uninstalled the program but also scanned he Windows Registry for leftover files and folders and deleted those.

im trying to uninstall a program but it says that the uninstall.dat file dont exist what do i do? i tried revo uninstaller but it says the same thing.

Answer:uninstalling a program but the uninstall.dat file dont exist

Hi and welcome to Computer Hope!It might you uninstalled the program before, but it didn't quite uninstall itself correctly and it's still listed as an installed program.Have you tried the program CCleaner? It can uninstall programs. Not sure if it will help, but you can give it a try. You can download the program hereTo uninstall, delete, or rename a program:    1. In CCleaner, click the Tools icon at left.    2. In the Uninstall screen, select the name of the program you want to uninstall from the Programs to Remove list.    3. Do one of the following:    Click Run Uninstaller to run the program's uninstaller.Click Rename Entry to give the program a new name in this list only.Click Delete Entry to remove the program's uninstall entry, without uninstalling it. (This is recommended for advanced users only, for when a program has been removed but the uninstall entry remains.)

I have always kept my programme installation directories in C:\Program Files and would prefer to keep it that way. So many programmes these days default to C:\Program Files (x86). It is a pain to keep editing the location required when setting up a new machine. Is there any way to persuade new installations to default to the former?

Answer:Point new program installations to C:\Program Files NOT (x86)

Only on X64 windows versions you have C:\Program Files (x86) and C:\Program Files.

C:\Program Files (x86)=>for 32 bits applications
C:\Program Files=>for 64 bits applications

Why don't you like that logic?

Hi,
I accedentally deletea an xp system file and now i have problem with
booting.I get the message "DISK ERROR BOOT FROM CD/DVD" .How do solve this problem? I have a lot of data on my pc without backups.I want to solve this problem without loosing any data. Please give help.

My os:win xp service pack 3

Answer:Accedentally deleted an xp program file

First backup all of the files you can't live without using an Ubuntu Live CD saving them to a USB HDD/Flash Drive.
Then Boot off of the Windows Disc Or download the Recovery Console ISO. Burn it to CD with IMGBurn Boot off of the CD and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter. The Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors.
You can also download the ISO image for Seatools or Drive Fitness in my signature and burn the image to a CD using IMGBurn also in my signature and boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and Advanced tests on the HDD to test the integrity of the drive.

I recently downloaded starry night which is a program that you can use to look at space features and stuff, but I had to uninstall it becuase it was taking up to much space on my computer, well now I can't delete the sucker and I'm constantly barraged by "this program is being used by another person or program", so I unistalled those programs and yet it still wants to stay, what do I do?

Answer:Certain file inside a program can't be deleted.. no matter what I do..

Before you delete anything else that you might actually want, try a system restore to before you had starry night installed.

If this does not help then post details of your system, the files you want to eliminate and the exact error messages.

The last update:
October 15, 2011
Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538242)

After this update, a program was uninstalled (gone with no trace). The program had a screensaver option and I noticed it when the screensaver came up blank. Its shortcut was no longer on the desktop.

Two files I had created October 12th, and was working on were deleted.
I don't know if any other files were deleted.

The update before was October 11, 2011

This appears to be a rollback not unlike a system restore. Any ideas?

Answer:Update uninstalled program and deleted file

Welcome to the Windows Seven forum.

Did you install the package yourself? That update came through MS Update back in June. A previous release was in April. Perhaps you deleted some files or did a restore. Another posibility is that you loaded/installed a program with old redistributable files.

Answer:Re-entry deleted program names in program and features

Do you have a restore point from before the malware? The installed programs list is made from Registry info. It should restore with a restore point.

When I first got my labtop, I installed a program that is NOT compatible with Vista. It installed fine. Problem was that it wasn't compatible(its a capturing program). Recently, I found another program that worked. But I would like to uninstall this old program to save space. I get this error everytime I try to uninstall it:

_SetFilter() error: OS Version not set!

This installation does not support your operating system.

Is there a solution I could use to avoid having to use system restore or start from scratch?

Answer:Program uninstalling program

Hi Shabaman,

You might try using Compatibility mode and Run as administrator on the uninstall program to see if it will work properly afterwards. This will show you how to if needed.

So I've read about how junctioning in Windows XP is great for making Windows think a folder has the contents of a different folder. So I want to do this:

I want to make a folder on my C: drive point to a folder on my T: drive (a USB flash drive). Is this recommended? If so, what would happen if the flash drive failed to start on a system restart (it's happened), and also, what would happen when the flash drive were to be removed?

Thanks!

Hello,I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my machine. Since I didn't want to install my programs on the Windows partition, I booted into safe mode and moved the "Program Files" and the "Program Files (x86)" folders to a different partition. Afterwards, I created junction points on the Windows partition which point to the folders on the other partition. Here's the problem: The disk space management system of Windows 7 recognizes the junction points on my Windows partition as real folders with real data and decreases disk space on both partitions when I install new programs. I used the "Link Shell Extension" tool to create the junction points.(http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html)How can I configure Windows so that it doesn't detect the junction points as real folders? Thanks for Your help.Best regards,Lysander H.

Answer:Junction point uses disk space

I don't want to call you on this but I think you may not know how to change the install path. Most times all that is required is to highlight the path shown and then change the drive letter while leaving the rest of the label. Some programs will only allow you to change the path if you choose the custom install option, which, IMO, is the way to always install programs. If you could, list those 6 programs you couldn't change the path on.According to the linked Wiki article, junction points should not take up any space.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_j...Also see the second link below.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...

Hi, and thank you for this helpful site.  The pc running windows 7 32bit and NOD4 stopped updating.  About the same time a message would pop up during start up.  The message is as follows.

c:\users\end user\appdata\local\bvworks\vorbisfile_d.dll failed to load

I also noticed that nod was out of spec so I attempted to load the outstanding updates.  All but one loaded.  The one that didn't load said it had a virus and couldn't load so I went to the Microsoft website and got the same response.  it is "security update for windows 7 (kb2847927)" it is labeled as an important update.

I ran nod, ccleaner, and malware, then took the drive out and ran the Microsoft virus scan from my one laptop with the other drive attached as a portable drive and found a worm and another malware.  Once cleaned I ran it again and got nothing, so I then hooked the drive to my work pc and got another hit on malware and cleaned it.

Once I put the drive back in the laptop the error is still there.  When I look at ccleaner the only thing that has been loaded recently is thunderbird email (I think this must be an update since this is the mail he uses)

Answer:ZEROACCESS Reparse Point/Junction found!

ZEROACCESS rootkit is a serious malware infection. Disinfection will probably require the use of more powerful tools than we recommend in this forum. Before that can be done you will need to create and post a DDS log for further investigation. Please follow the instructions in the Malware Removal and Log Section Preparation Guide starting at Step 6.If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next.In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running DDS which will create two logs. (Note: Windows 8.1 Users will not be able run DDS and create a log)When you have done that, post your logs in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Response Team.Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post your log(s) along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. If you cannot produce any of the required logs, then still start the new topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happened when you tried to create them. A member of the Malware Removal Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. After doing this, please reply back in this thread with a link to the new topic so we can closed this one.

Hello and welcome.  Please follow these guidelines while we work on your PC:Malware removal is a sometimes lengthy and tedious process. Please stick with the thread until I’ve given you the “All clear.”  Absence of symptoms does not mean your machine is clean! Please do not run any scans or install/uninstall any applications without being directed to do so.Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within five days this thread will be closed.   Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.Press Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Answer:Uninstalling a program

Hello rintobs and welcome to Seven Forums.

It appears that you have a free product called Express-Files on your computer. It's supposed to be a search tool with a built in download manager.

Express Files

The pop-up message you received wasn't attached to your post. I'm guessing it was something like "Do you really want to uninstall this?" A lot of programs try to convince people to keep their product installed and offer an "are you sure" message. If that's the mesage you get, I'd say it's OK to uninstall the program. Once you do, I'd also recommend you run a full antimalware scan just in case it's not what I think it is. You could also use Malwarebytes free as a secondary scan.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Answer:Need help uninstalling a program

SearchProtect is malware.
Download Junkware Removal Tool, Run it. A DOS window appears. Press Any key. It starts to automatically scan.
Now download ADWCleaner. Run it, Install it. Scan, Leave Everything Checked. Clean. This program asks to Restart computer to finish. Both programs show a text document when done showing the files they have removed.

Hi

Having succesfully upgraded from XPSP2 to Vista RC1 on my laptop, I have discovered that my ISPs own AV program PCGuard (Blue Yonder) does not work with Vista.

I have tried uninstalling, although the uninstaller does not execute, stating that the programe requires Windows 98, Windows XP etc etc

I have tried removing from the startup items from Control Panel although the options here are greyed out.

Is there anyway I can remove this program to stop the "failed to initialise" messages each time I start my machine

thanks for any help

Do I need some kind of software that will get rid of a program like this?

I re-installed STEAM yesterday and since then it's been giving me trouble. I can run and play it fine (well, there's major connection issues but that's not for here) but when I reboot my computer it just uninstalls itself. I don't see it uninstalling, but when I come back my computer can't locate the steam.exe and my steam folder is missing nearly all the files.

Now, when I was uninstalling steam, I did delete some "Steam" registry files but looking in my registry now, I can see those folders are back.

Any help?

Answer:Program uninstalling itself

Sounds like it is installing in a temp folder which gets emptied upon reboot. Try changing the path that it installs to a different directory than the default.

When one uninstalls an rpm, I read that one uses the rpm command and option -e.

Should I be in the directory where I originally saved the rpm? I installed AIM and want to remove it. I renamed the rpm /root/downloads/aim.rpm before I ran the install. From /root/downlods/ can I type rpm -e aim.rpm to remove it?

Answer:uninstalling a program

nope, you can uninstall it from anywhere.

rpm -e packagename

I usually query it first:

rpm -q packagename

you don't need the .rpm extension, as well I think.

Try Unlocker or LockHunter. Sometimes Explorer shell will hold a file handle open even though the library or exe is closed. Just google for download links.

Hello everyone.  I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 2), 32 bit, 4 gig ram, Intel T2250 processor (1.73 ghz) with a 110 gig HD.I noticed that my hard drive seemed rather full (only 35.8 gig free).  So I ran windows disk cleanup, I ran CCleaner and I ran Wise Disk Cleaner with only minimal success.  So I looked to see if there were any programs that I could remove (that I don't use).  In the add remove I came across "WeightWatchers On-The-Go", an old program of my wife's, and it said that it was 20.5 gigs.  So, after asking the better half (who didn't even remember the program), I tried to uninstall.  I then received this error:>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.CPP (468PAPP:Weight Watchers On-the-GoPVENDOR:WeightWatchers.com, Inc.(http://www.WeightWatchers.com)PGUID:[email protected]  Service Pack 2 (6002) IE 8.0.6001.18904with an OK button below.  When I click OK, I get this error from InstallShield Wizard:Please do the following:  -Close any running programs  -Empty your temporary folder  -Check your Internet connection (Internet-based Setups)Then try to run the Setup again.Error code:  -5001I've tried to run it in safe mode also, with no avail.  Any help would be appreciated[recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]

Answer:Help uninstalling program

You can either reinstall and then uninstall it, try REVO Uninstaller, or just delete the folder manually (it won't uninstall it, but with a program like that it's no big deal - the files will be gone and the space will be free) and leave the program entries in the registry - no harm done. Also, either disable and then re-enable system restore (note - all restore points will be deleted immediately) or just disable it completely and start using disc imaging software on a regular basis. This will free up a lot of space.

Hello,
I've been using Windows Vista for years and now have a PC running Windows 8 (.1 or. 2) (is there a 2?)

I'm trying to uninstall a program file (dll) in my program files 86 folder but it says I can't while it's running in windows.
I watched an online video which tells me to open the command prompt but his method doesn't work on my PC.

Can anyone give me instructions on how to get rid of this dll or tell me how to open my windows command prompt so I can try the videos method?

Cheers!

Answer:Uninstalling a Program

One has to be careful with dll files in case they are shared. try renaming it first ProgramName.dll old-- and run your system awhile to see if you get any warnings first, especially at boot up. Then when no problems appear or crashes show up in Reliability History(in the Action Center) then you can unregister the dll.

Open an Admin command prompt by right clicking the windows icon and choose it.

For the path name you can use drag and drop in windows 8 by opening file explorer and dragging the dll to the command prompt after you type regsvr32 /u"
example: regsvr32 /u "C:\Windows\System32\amdmantle64.dll"(this is for an AMD ?graphics dll)
Don't forget quotes
Register dll file

To register a dll or ocx file, open a command prompt windows as an administrator, type the following and hit Enter:regsvr32 ?path & filename of dll or ocx?Unregister dll file

To un-register a dll or ocx file, open a command prompt windows as an administrator, type the following and hit Enter:regsvr32 /u ?path & filename of dll or ocx? This will register or unregister the dll file.

you could look at manually uninstalling it but that will be a hard task - alternatively the cover dvd a few issues back had a free copy of cccleaner on it or you can download it for free. The second tab down called issues allow you to uninstall progs and this will do a good job for you.

Whenever I tried to uninstall PowerPoint Presenter Professional Suit 2007, a message will appear:

"Could not open INSTALL.LOG file"

What should I do to uninstall it? :confused

Answer:Uninstalling a Program

This is a permission issue with the log file required by the uninstall.exe file.
Locate and copy the "install.log" file to your desktop (log file location may vary, depends upon your application uninstall.exe shortcut) Then delete the "install.log" file from the original location. Now run the "uninstall.exe" and this should prompt you for the "install.log" file location. Point it to the file now on your desktop.

This should now allow you to uninstall the program.

Good day,
My laptop has been working fine for 6 months until my daughter used it. She installed a program called "I Give-Shopping_Window" which supposedly gives a percentage of things you purchase from stores on their site to a non-profit of your choice. Anyway, I've noticed a major sluggishness since this program has been on here.

I went to control panel and tried to uninstall and got an error message that said there may have been a problem uninstalling and gave me 2 options to choose: "Uninstall using recommended settings" and "This program uninstalled correctly." I chose the first option and it did nothing.

I then went to my C drive and found the folder. I clicked on it and hit delete and was if I really want to move it to the recycle bin and I said yes. Then a window pops up that tells me I need to confirm this operation. I hit continue, another window pops up that says "Windows needs your permission to continue" and I hit continue. THEN I get a window that says, "Destination folder access denied, you need permission to perform this action."

I went to the registry to try and delete it and it's no where to be found! I opened the task manager and lo and behold, it's listed as an actively running program. I clicked on it and hit "End Process" and it didn't do anything!

I just want to get rid of this program and nothing I seem to do is correct. I am really 'stupid' when it comes ... Read more

Hi all,

I recently bought a new Samsung 840 Evo 250GB SSD. Previously I had been using a Seagate 1TB platter-based HDD. I used Paragon Migrate OS to SSD to migrate most of my files over, leaving behind all my big games and my My Pictures, My Videos and My Music folders which all contained a lot of data and can't go on the SSD.

In order for my playlists (among other things) to work without having to go through and manually edit each file, I created junction points to my 1TB HDD. The problem with that is two-fold: First, the folders have the shortcut symbol on them. This is a very minor complaint, but ideally I want the folders to look exactly like folders. Second, the folders have to be named Pictures, Videos and Music, since that's what they're actually called. This is a problem because I want them to be visibly called My Music etc.

And this is my question: Is it possible to make a junction point look exactly like a My Music folder, including the fake name? Any ideas would be much appreciated

Answer:Give junction point Special Folder properties?

Tried OpenOffice as a free download and now am wanting to remove but the program seems to be set up so that it undermines my effort. I have gone to control panel to remove programs. A security window comes up and says to cancel or allow. And then proceeds to begin installing instead of the removing as requested. I am waiting for the OpenOffice to respond but in the mean time.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Guys,

I'm really desperate on this!
I have previously opened a thread similar to this.

And I quote myself:

My computer started to loop after I installed an update of Alcohol120%. I have Vista business operating system loaded.

When I start up, the PC only stays on for a few seconds, hardly giving me time to do anything before it restarts. How can I uninstall the update, so that I can work on my PC again?

I have tried the F8 'solution' but safe mode and none of the other options have worked.

PLEASE HELP!!

end quote.

I really need help to uninstall the update version, but like I say, Windows Vista just doesn't give enough time to do so before it restarts and the whole process start all over again.

Also, it gives me a BSOD, but it happens so fast, I cant even read on it what it says before it restarts, just catch the words 'file dump' in the end each time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. ;-)

Ok So, I have a program, this program is called Lord of the Rings Online - Roheryn. It is specifically a version of the video game client for the MMORPG Lord of the Rings Online (who would have guess huh?..). Now, "Roheryn" is a preview server were the game developers release content before it goes to the live (retail) servers. Since it's a preview server it requires it's own client to keep it seperate from the regular (retail) client.

Now, there was recently an update to the Roheryn client, and I need to UNINSTALL my current version before installing the new one (okay and?), I can't. Simple as that, I am faced with an error message when I click "Uninstall" from the Add/Remove Programs window. I get the same message when I try to use the games uninstall executive file.

How do I stop uninstalling a program?

Answer:stop uninstalling a program

When uninstalling a program there should be a cancel button in the pop-up Window. Clicking that should cancel the uninstall.

Do note though some programs do not have a cancel button and once you uninstall them you'll need to reinstall them.

If the program does uninstall you could still reinstall.

Ok, I posted this problem in a different section, but realized it was a broader problem. How do you remove a program if you deleted all the files but forgot to remove it with add/remove progams first? I did this, and now I can't remove it even though the files are all gone. I can't re-install it either because it is still reading that its installed. Hopefully this gains a response. I know this is a pain in the ***, but hopefully theres a way to do it. Thanks ahead of time.

Hi Guys,
I'm totally stuck.
I loaded a program called Hallmark Card Maker with a feature called Event Reminder. So when I start up (boot ) my computer. Any birthdays in my family will come up when it comes close to the day. But when I got the new computer someone told me you can save all the birthdays from the old computer and load them into the new computer with Windows Explorer with a floppy. When I did it I made it so the program will not start up with error messages telling me some files were missing. So I made another mistake I think, I reloaded (reinstalled) the program, because I thought it would only reinstall the files that were missing . Now it works great, but I noticed I have a copy on C drive and a copy under Programs (were it belongs- under Programs) So I thought I would just uninstall it and reinstall it. So when I went to Add Remove Programs under Control Panel its not in the list ? so now I can't uninstall it ? So I thought I better stop before I just totally wreck my computer because if I just delete it under Windows Explorer, I heard you can really wreck your computer as programs should be uninstalled not deleted.
Totally Frustrated

I think I read in another thread, recently, a suggestion for getting rid of a program that doesn't appear in the 'Add/Remove Programs' list. The suggestion (if I remember it correctly), was to delete the progam's folder from C:\Program Files, and then to run CCleaner's registry cleanup tool to get rid of the leftover registry entires.I'm trying to think up ways to get rid of the phoney antispyware program, Spyware Guard 2009, from a friend's computer (to read my earlier thread on this click here). It has so far resisted all attempts to nuke it.Do you think the above method would be OK, or would I cause all kinds of problems? And do you have any better suggestions?I'll be very grateful for any advice.

Hello Fellow Forum Posters:

This my first posting in the forum. I have been trying to uninstall AVGFree 2011 Edition (for Windows 7 64-bit). I have gone to the AVG website, downloaded and run their uninstall
program and have removed most of the files; however, some of the program remains. When I type AVG into the search box two files come up: "TableTextServiceSimplifiedZhengMa".
(I believe this is part of the Chinese language portion of the Note Pad section in the program.) When these files come up in the start box I right-click the "delete"; a dialog
box appears saying "Unable to delete because file needs permission of TrustedInstaller". When I search for this "TrustedInstaller" it is located; I then right-click on to "file location";
The location comes up and the option is to open it using Explorer. The browser page appears momentarily, then the dialog box "View downloads-Windows Internet Explorer" appears (?) After this
I reach a dead-end because this dialog box is empty and without further instructions. (I wish I could include screen-shots of this process but I have not yet learned how to do that.)
I have opened these two identical aforementioned files and they contain about 1,975 separate items; I have tried deleting them one-by-one; when I have clicked on the "Organize" button
and then "Select All" and then the "Delete" button this vast group of items actually begins to del... Read more

Answer:Difficulty Uninstalling Program

Hi JulianAS,
Download Revo Uninstaller Pro (trial version Free for a month) and use the built-in 'forced uninstall' utility... type in programs name or file path and hit delete... follow the prompts and this will remove all of the AVG residual left overs.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

It is a program that i use along side windows add/remove as it also removes the registry files.

Iain.

Hello Guys,
I am not too experienced here but I'd like your help. A couple questions.
I have autocad (a large program) installed on my computer which has windows XP.
I noticed the program wasn't working properly so I tried to reinstall it. I was unsuccessful and my first question is....is it because the program was uninstalled?
Secondly I tried to uninstall the program but I did not see the program listed
(on the page where all the programs are supposed to be listed). A number of other programs are listed on the left side of the page and on the right side it says "change/remove"
I did not see the autocad program listed. I know it is in the "program files" folder.
How can I uninstall this program? and would I be able to re-install this progran once it is uninstalled?
Thank you very much!!

Hey, I was just wondering if there is anyway to use the Uninstalling or Changing a program feature to find the path of a file you wish delete? I have tried normally uninstalling, searching for it etc and this is the only way I can actually see the file. Hope someone can help! Cheers!

Answer:Uninstalling or Changing a program

Hello Obrando, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Sorry, but Pograms and Features is only to uninstall the entire application and not a single file. You can also use Advanced Search to find files as well if you have not already.

Are you able to delete the file?

I am having a lot of problems uninstalling RegCleanPro. A computer tech support person installed it for me to help with a problem I was having, but did not tell me it cost. When I found out, I tried to uninstall, but I keep getting a message that says something to the affect of cannot uninstall, a certain something is missing. Please help.

Answer:Problems with uninstalling a program

A computer support person installed a registry cleaner for you? Wow. First thing I'd do is get my money back.

As for uninstalling it, it would be helpful to know what the "certain something" is.

I downloaded a program called "Print Screen" which enables you to print whatever is showing on the desktop with one click of the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard.
This was really handy and worked well using XP. The GADWIN co. came out with a version
for VISTA but they still have a problem with it.
I went to "control panel"," add/remove programs", and the program was removed from THat SITE. However it is still showing in "Program Files".
How can I totally remove this program from my PC? I see that free programs are available
that supposedly will do just that, however I have no experience using such a program.
Will one of you learned gentlemen come to my rescue.
For some reason the Gadwin Co. will not respond to me E-mail.
Thanks for your help.

often all you have to do is right click on the file in program files and simply select delete. If you download Ccleaner (google it) you can run the cleaner that comes with that which will often find all the loose bits of registry entries and files left over.

Hi, I'm kinda new around here. Not 100% sure this belongs under hardware problems, since it isn't really hardware... Anyway, I new with windows Vista 64-bit and have been having problems with WoW. For certain reasons I needed to uninstall and reinstall it, and could not find it under uninstall programs. I reinstalled it and then found that it was then under uninstall programs (WoW), but it still didn't delete everything from the previous installation. My question is, how can I go about cleaning up all the remaining files scattered about? I'm sure there's still things left over in the registry, etc. Would a registry cleaning program do that or do I need to manually go into the registry and find the files (which I'm not sure I want to do...). Plus I'm sure there's other files that weren't just in the registry. It's not a huge deal, I guess, I just don't want any of the old files to cause a conflict when I'm reinstalling the game. I've already had plenty of errors >.< Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

edit: WoW = World of Warcraft

Answer:Problem With uninstalling a program

Use Revo Uninstaller. That will get rid of the Registry entries and some of the misc files roaming around. From there just go in under Program Files and delete the WoW directory.

This should be in Windows. Requested Move.

Hello,

This could be the wrong place to post this, but I'll give it a try anyway. Unbelievably I just tried installing a (Pool) game that was most likely originally designed to be played on Windows 95 (from an old disc that my wife still has laying around the house). However, I am running Windows Vista on my laptop, and of course it did not work. I should have known that it wouldn't. Anyway, all I wanted to do afterward was uninstall the program (after it only partially installed it), but it wouldn't let me. Here is the error I received:

The log file ‘C:\Program Files\Intrplay\VPoolW\DeIsL1.isu’ is not valid or the data has been corrupted. Uninstallation will not continue.

Can someone please explain to me exactly how I can finish the uninstall process? That would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Okay what do all of you guys recommend for uninstalling a program. Please clarify your answer if you find there should be more than the above choices.

Answer:Uninstalling: Program vs Control Panel

I go the program files directory and delete the folder...i then goto the windows system directory and delete .dll's that sound like they might come along with the program.
