I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been trying to start up my computer, but whenever I start booting it up a message appears saying "Autocheck program not found- Skipping auto check" but that flashes to a blue screen that says "Fatal System Error" Then around 2 1/2 lines of coding, and then "System has been shut down"

Does anyone know what seems to be the problem?

Answer:Problem starting up-Auto Check program

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

Try this:
Place your windows cd in the cd rom and boot to it. You may need to change the boot sequence in the BIOS.

1. Boot off of a Windows XP CD. Press R to get to the recovery console.

2. Press 1 to log onto Windows then press Enter. You will need the administrative password to get into to command prompt. If the administrator password was blank press enter.

3. Type: chkdsk /r

4. When the disk check is done type: Exit

5. Take the Windows XP CD out. Boot the system.

I've been trying to get chech disk to run on startup for about a month now with now succes. I've searched the net constantly and tried tons of different approaches, but they all failed for me.

Anyway, I keep getting a baloon popup saying I should run chech disk because I have errors. I was hoping there's any type of software I can buy/download that will do the same thing as Check Disk, as in fix errors and bad sectors on disk.

Thanks in advance ppl.

I want to setup Outlook to automatically dial online every hour to check for new email messages. I have found how to setup Outlook, but I cannot get Dial-up Networking to automatically dial without prompting me for my password. I know there is a way to store the password and have it auto connect. How can I do this?

Answer:Auto check for messages

If you are bypassing the windows password when you login (in other words, just hitting "cancel" instead of using a password) your password list will not load with Windows. Therefore, your dial up networking password will not be available, and you will need to enter it manually.

To stop this, either use a Windows password, OR, better & easier yet, leave the box blank and hit OK instead of cancel. This will result in you not having to have a windows password, and allow your password list to load up. Once you have done that, you should be able to save your password in dial up networking and automatically connect however you have it set up in Outlook.

Hope this helps!

My question is we have a table of trucking companies. In that table there is also a check box to mark whether they are 3rd party or not. We are using this table as a validation for another table so only the trucking companies we put in can be used in a drop down list (auto complete or whatever). So they also want the 3rd party checkbox in the other table to auto check based on the trucking company name. Is this possible?

I am pretty good with access but this is something i've never done and trying to come up with a phrase to ask google to help me is not giving me the results i am looking for.

Here is the quick and dirty.

User A goes into enter a new work order. He chooses a trucking company from the drop down list which validates off the trucking table. Also in the trucking table there is a checkbox marking that it is a 3rd party company. There is a checkbox on his table that we need to auto check since he picked a 3rd party trucking company.

Can anyone enlighten me as to how this can be done?

Hello, all, and thank you in advance for the assistance. I am currently working on a customer's Toshiba Satellite C55 running Windows 8. Upon initial review, it was obvious that the machine was badly infected with numerous junkware and adware. Per our standard operating procedures, I backed up relevant data and restarted the machine in safe mode. Junk programs were uninstalled via CCleaner, scanned using MBytes, made copies of registry and repaired using CCleaner, cleaned up HDD using CCleaner, and restarted to Windows 8 (regular). Up to this point, all programs are installed from a flash drive. Typically, upon restart from safe, we run ESET Online Scanner. However, I noticed immediately that Chrome was giving me the "Could not connect to proxy server" error. I checked setting in Chrome to find that the "Proxy" tab was grayed out. I opened Internet Options from control panel -> Advanced -> LAN settings to find, as I had assumed it would be, the Proxy button selected. I deselected the Proxy settings, re-selected Automatically Detect Settings, and clicked OK. Same error from Chrome. Checked LAN settings again to find Proxy checked. Following this, I ran ComboFix, to no avail. Basically, every time I deselect Proxy settings (and even when I delete all Advanced Proxy Settings fields), something is automatically selecting it again. I have a few days to complete this, so no big rush. I really appreciate the help.

Hey, Thanks for taking the time to take a look at this.

My computer froze during a shutdown and when I turned it back on it ran a checkdisk and removed some files. Now when I try to run a few games, or try to run some programs like teamviewer or even dxdiag.exe I get this error:

The program can't start because dxgi.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I tried going to microsoft for help but they wanted me to pay them over $100 to fix the problem and I don't have much extra cash. Hoping someone on here would help!

Also I am unable to install drivers at the moment. They just freeze once I click start. I tried to redownload directX but the microsoft website keeps sending me to a page to install windows 10 instead.

I have Word 2002, SP3, for Windows Office XP Pro.

My problem is I want to permanently turn OFF the autocorrect options (all of them: correct initial capitals, correct first letters of days, etc etc, autoformat, as well as auto text and auto type).

Yes, I have unchecked all the boxes in Tools > Autocorrect Options, the problem is I have to painstakingly go though all the boxes every time I open Word and uncheck them. My setups are not remembered.

I can't figure out how to make these options stay set this way.

I've tried installing the Office Resource Kit and setting a system policy (though I am the only user on this PC), but no success.

I had to rebuild my system a month ago -- before that, I never had any problems, Word seemed to remember exactly my preferred set up and saved autocorrect options etc to the normal template.

I checked the normal template and it is in Doc Settings folder where it should be.

I searched the forums and Word help but can't seem to find any advice, mainly because most people usually run these options and they only wish to modify the instances where they apply, rather than permanently disable them.

Please help! Much appreciated! Thanks!

So I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium on an Acer Aspire 5349. I've been having a bunch of issues with it since the install.

Firstly, When I boot, it takes me to the "Disk Check" screen and tells me that one of my disks needs to be checked for consistency. However, the disk in question isn't something like "C:" or "D:" it's "\\?\volume{c4afec15-cb60-11e4-9583-806e6f6e6963}". The disk check also automatically cancels. It doesn't prompt me with the usual " Press any button to stop the disk check" option, just straight to " Disk check has been cancelled"

When I eventually get to the desktop, I get the screen " Windows detected a hard disk problem ". I look at the details and I'm told that my C:\ drive has been reporting failures. When I check the status of the disk via the Disk Management tool I'm told that all my partitions are healthy.

When I actually use the laptop, it's very slow and frequently freezes. It takes a while to catch back up and sometimes these freezes lead to a BSOD. The BSOD message was KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. I checked the event viewer and it also seemed that before certain crashes I would have driver controller error on an IDE Port. I've attached a picture of the disk check screen, event viewer, and memory dump. I apologize about the quality of the pictures, I couldn't screenshot the images on the actual laptop as it was freezing and crashing too often.

You need to check Control Panel, Power Options. (screenshot)

Note the tabs. In this dialog you set your options and they are set for the Power Scheme shown. In Laptops, there are usually 2 schemes listed, one for AC powered and a separate for Battery powered.

Desktop OR AC powered Laptop, the only thing you MAY want to turn off is your Monitor.

im a complete novice and require advice on fixing a small problem.
when i boot my pc , xp home os, im getting , briefly, the following messages on a blue screen, after which, the pc then runs normally.
x]o program not found skipping autocheck
c]o program not found skipping autocheck

ive googled the messages and have been informed that the problem is a result of a corruption in the BootExecute , in the registry. i have to delete the multi-string, which , at present, consists of the word autocheck twice and a number of symbols and replace it with the default :-
autocheck autochk *.

i double click BootExecute, which opens a Edit Multi-String box containing ."value name" ie. BootExecute, and "value data" as below
autocheck x}0?U!?&
autocheck ?}0pD!D????M
autocheck lsdelete

my question is, do i simply delete the present "value data" and type the default autocheck autochk * into the box and click ok.
am i correct that there is a space between the two words and another before the asterisk.
this is the first time ive been into the registry and all the warnings ive heard and read have made me wary of mistakes, so i ask for understanding as a novice.

Please excuse in advance the long verbage....

Background: this is a WIn XP SP2 system, I built it, with a DP35DPM mother board, 2 physical SATA drives, and a DVD drive. hdd0 is partitioned as C: --(60GB) and D: --(240GB). hdd1 is E: --(320GB). D: and E: only contain data. C: has win xp and programs.

About 6 months ago, on rebooting my computer, it failed to get an IP address. My laptop and son's computer were able, however, to connect via the same ethernet jack. A friend suggested I run CleanUp! I did, rebooted and wala! Problem solved.... until the next reboot. This time CleanUp! made no difference. Same friend suggest Malware. Ran it, found a few things, quaranteened and deleted, reboot. Wala. Internet connection..... until next reboot. Of course, Malware made no difference this time. Friend ran out of ideas. I installed "RegistryDefense", ran it, made the suggested fixes (about 60 of them!), reboot, wala.

By now, I am getting the idea and trying to run my PC 24/7 to avoid reboots. This is about 1 months after the 1st occurrence of the problem. At this point, all my clicks on google searches are redirected to spam sites. This problem seemed to evolve as well. I live on a school campus and thye like to lose power every now and then to fix various things. So, I am forced to reboot. I need to run Registry Defense multiple times now to finally get a reboot that obtains an IP address and connects to the internet.

Over time, I read that this issue might be caus... Read more

Answer:autochk program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK

I have read this three times.
It must be Sunday night syndrome but the thread title suggests that on boot this is the message
autochk program not found - skipping AUTOCHECKClick to expand...

That indicates that a chkdsk has been scheduled, and cannot run as the necessary entries to run it are missing.

There is little doubt that this is the result of the "RegistryDefense" program.
Have a look at this
I do not think I need to say anymore about that ACTUAL program.
In relation to registry cleaners in general see the link on my signature and be advised - please keep away from them.

Any opinions out there from the gurus? SHould I try to go back to the old install with all my nice programs? Or should I just stick with my new installation and work to keep it clean?

If this is now your ONLY real question. If you go back to the old - why do you not think you will have all the problems you did have, even apart from those created by the registry cleaner.

My advice is to edit your boot.ini, so that you boot from ONLY the new installation.
Uninstall that unwanted and clearly dangerous so called registry defense.
CREATE a restore point.
DELETE all previous restore points.

When you have what you need uninstall/delete all from the old installation.

I ran chkdsk/r attempting to fix a separate issue. And then I noticed afterwards that during the boot process, I would get this message:autochk* program not found - skipping AUTOCHECKThe message shows up after the windows logo and before the logon screen.I can still run windows just fine with no problems what-so-ever. The only issue with it, is that it's there. I just want to make the message go away. I can make it not show up by selecting "no GUI boot" in msconfig, but that only masks the issue. If I can fix it, I would like to do that. So, I searched for this issue on the forum here and found THIS. I followed the instructions there, but they didn't work.Is there anything else I can do?Thank you for the help!K.CampbellSystem Info:OS: Windows 7 Professional x64Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L670 CustomizedMfg part#: PSK3AU-055014RAM: 8GB Dual-Channel DDR3CPU: Intel i5 CPU [email protected]: Toshiba NALAA (CPU)Storage: 488GB Toshiba MK5065GSXVideo Card: Intel HD Graphics (Integrated)Sound Card: Intel Display AudioAntivirus: MSEFirewall: Windows Firewall

When I restart my computer and before I actually log in, I get a blue Windows XP screen which states: "msln program not found - skipping autocheck". I can only assume this isn't good. I have downloaded Malwarebytes and have run a quick scan and a full scan and have fixed most of the registry problems but when I restart my laptop, I still get the same message. My guess is the problem is still in one of the registry files which haven't been fixed. What should I do to correct the problem?

Answer:roboot program not found skipping autocheck

See this link. Are you running anything like a Diskeeper defrag program? Always be careful editing the registry. The problem is I can't say what will happen when the registry key is edited in Windows 8. What is the contents of the registry key shown in the link. You can export the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
and then copy and paste the contents in your next post.

I have winXP (SP3). I had no problems with anything, but I decided to follow this guide just to be on the safe side. It's advised in the guide to make a more thorough virus/spyware scan by doing it in safe mode so I pressed F8 during boot up, but it proceeded to boot normally instead of giving me the option for safe mode and right before the login screen, a blue error screen showed up with the message: "sprecovr program not found. skipping autocheck". After I logged in everything seemed normal (maybe a little bit slower, but I could be just projecting) and I restarted to see if the error would show up again and it did. It shows up every time now right before the login screen.

I tried searching for this type of problem involving sprecovr file, but I couldn't find anything substantial, so I'd really appreciate some help.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:sprecovr program not found. skipping autocheck

I would add to that guide to download and run a full scan in Safe Mode with Networking. If F8 won't work try F5. You must start hitting it right after the POST beep but before the Windows XP Splash Screen.

Restore is accessed the following way:1. It's a good practice to shut down all other applications before using System Restore, as it requires a full-system reboot to complete the installation. Connecting to the internet is not required, however. So shut all applications. Then click "Start."2. Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Then the program will load.  Hi everyone,  After rejuvenating my T61p (Vista Home Premium) this message pops-up during booting: "Isdelete program not found  -  skipping Autocheck" The message appears for a few seconds and then disappears. Booting continues and I do not notice any other symptom on my system. Has anyone experienced this same issue or knows what the message is all about? What program is that "Isdelete" and what are the consequences of this "skipping Autocheck" warning? How serious is this? Please help.

OK, if anyone ever encounters this issue, I found a solution here: It "missing" file seems related somehow to Ad-Aware, which I un-installed recently. OS::: XP w/ SP2

I am having a problem.

I installed a trial version of Diskeeper (DK) two months ago… used the program with good results, let it expire, & eventually uninstalled it.

Yesterday, downloaded DK again (two months later & after trying other defrag programs (which also worked great))… the second download of Diskeeper wouldn’t work after installed, indicated by a prompt to purchase the software.

I uninstalled DK and went about my normal computing routine & shut down with no drama.

This morning, I start up my p/c and get a quick prompt noting: "OODBS program not found -skipping auto check".

P/C boots up & functions fine otherwise.

I tried running chkdsk manually… no effect. Tried restoring p/c to an earlier time, no luck. Tried error checking my drive, nothing comes up. Tried to repair & reinstall XP, no luck.

The OODBS message is still there

Can anyone help me?

Hi, I seemed to have run into a problem. I'm running xp pro w/ sp2. I usually keep my computer on all the time but yesterday I turned it off. When I turned it back on this morning, I got a message "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system". I followed some advise online which told me to use the recovery option using my win xp cd. When I rebooted it seemed to work ok but then came another message, "Autochk program not found- skipping Autocheck" then it reboots. It keeps doing this over and over again. I found some more advise online which told me to copy the program from my win xp cd to the harddrive using the recovery option. I did this. I also placed a copy into the C: and C:\windows. When I rebooted it came up again. I don't want to lose my file by reformatting since I haven't backed them up yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It starts up, finds the drives etc, then goed to the NORTON GO BACK screen, more dos stuff, then flashes "Autochk program not found, skipping auto check"

Then it goes back, sees the drives etc, the GOBACK screen, it's stuck in a loop.

I tried using GOBACK, wouldn't do anything, tried going to "last known good", no luck there either, next I'll ry safe mode but unsure what to do from there.

I have a dell dimension 4600 running Windows XP Pro. I removed Itunes and been able to boot since. I get a blue screen indicating autochk program not found - skipping autocheck. It gets stuck at this point and won't boot. I've gone into recovery panel and can't get anywhere. Although I was able to see the autochk.exe file in DOS under the Windows directory.

Now I'm hoping I can at least get a few files from the DOS prompt and then rebuild the system. When i get to the DOS prompt it won't let me change to my document and settings folder. It says access denied.

Two questions I hope someone can help with--
How can I fix the reboot?
How can I get my files copied to a external drive?

Recently, I have been unable to boot into Windows 7 SP1. Whenever I boot try to boot into Windows, I get the error: autochk program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK.

I have booted into System Repair several times, and ran Startup Repair, tried using bootrec.exe, ran chkdisk, and also attempted to run sfc. However none of those allowed me to boot into Windows. When I first ran sfc /scannow I received an error message saying that I needed to restart. Then I tried running sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=d:\windows, and I received an error that said: "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service."

At this point, I am not sure what I should do. Btw, I am posting this from my Linux installation on a different partition on the same hard drive Windows 7 is installed on, which is why I am unable to post the system information from SysInfo.

Please let me know what I can do to resolve this problem.

I am doing a lot of from-scratch vanilla Windows 7 installs and am wondering if there is a way to get the whole bit about Windows Updates and reboots done automatically? It would be nice that if after installation + NIC drivers loaded + OS activated I could run some program that would work on triggering WU to download and install (except optionals) + reboot + repeat when needed until there are no more Windows Updates available.

It would allow me to spend only 15 minutes with a computer rather than babysit it for several hours constantly checking to see if it wants a reboot + start Windows Updates again after machine has rebooted, etc.

Answer:Doing lots of vanilla Win7 installs - a way to auto-reboot and auto-start updates?

Is this for identical systems or for different hardware each time?
You could use a pre-made image (that contains the drivers) with all the updates that would be pushed out to the machine. You could also try something like WUInstall and the reboot cycle option.

Will appreciate any help regarding this issue.
My Gmail account is auto sending an email to all my gmail contacts without my knowledge until I saw reply posts of unsuccessful emails. Contents as such:
"Good Day.I just Uploaded a file,I would like you to view.Click Here to view. "
I too opened a similar email afew weeks back. Nothing seems wrong at first so I never really thought much about it.
Can someone help me on this?
I have just changed my password for my Gmail. hopefully it stops the sending. but I want to know if my computer is infected or by using smartphones or tablets, will it affect the gadgets too?
Thank you!

Answer:Gmail auto sending to my contacts, and auto deleting a virus link

A SPAMmer does not need access to your Gmail account in order to use your email address.
They can use whatever SPAM-sending program they like to send out email using *-your-* email address in the Sender's field.
Then, if any of the email addresses they sent the email to happen to be invalid, the unsuccesful delivery messages would be returned to you simply because your email address was in the Sender's field.
In order to stop this, you would have to find the person using your email address and hang them by the neck until dead. ;)

IDK if it will help, but if an external display is connected or a type cover is attached (and in typing position), the surface is automatically locked in landscape. So, maybe try disconnecting either or both of those if connected. Probably won't help your situation, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Have had Y410p for years without this issue. Now when I move the mouse cursor across the screen, it auto clicks/auto selects (without me tapping or clicking) and then release automatically as well. It will do this continuously as I keep moving the mouse cursor with the Touchpad. This is super annoying and causes multiple issues with my ability do most things on my Lenovo laptop. The two biggest problems are: click buttons which I do not intend and selecting/moving icons & screens which I do not intend. And it makes it nearly impossible to use the laptop for gaming. I have downloaded and reinstalled the Touchpad ELAN driver (version for my O/S Windows 8). I have gone through Mouse Properities setting and ELAN Smart-Pad settings. I have disabled Tapping, but does not make a difference. I have set Sensitivity to max Low and then max High, but does not make a difference. Any ideas on how to solve this particularly annoying Touchpad issue? Help please! Thanks.

Answer:IdeaPad Touchpad issue with auto-clicking/auto-selecting when moving mouse cursor

Disable TAPPING in the Synaptic control panel. See the screen shot via the Device settings tab and properties. TAPPING is unchecked - a useless feature and a easy way to wreck and operating system and/or loose files. Its far too easy to tap drag and drop a folder or worst without realizing it until its too late. If its a system fie/folder you likely won't boot the next time or you kill an application. I have been diabling this on notebooks for decades. DEADLY feature.

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks! :major

Yeah, that is kind of confusing if you're not familiar with the whole process. Click this link for a MUCH clearer step-by-step complete with screen shots. Howver, this process is only if you have Windows XP with Service Pack 3 installed and you need to install KB888111 which is the Microsoft high-definition audio update. You cannot install this update with SP3 (it's built-in and therefore won't let you install it to repair or replace it). If you have Service Pack 2 or earlier, you don't need to follow the steps in the link I just provided. If you could please read this thread and then post again describing exactly what the problem is, we'll be happy to help.

To set a restore point: click Start, click Run, type %windir%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and press Enter -OR- Click Start, go to All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. This will open the System Restore interface. From here, it's very simple to set the restore point by simply following the on-screen prompts.

Answer:Why does my computer auto type (Auto Typing Virus)

Is there some reason you suspect a virus? If you spilt coffee on it then that's likely to be the reason you have keyboard issues. For now, remove the main battery then clean the keyboard with kitchen roll as best you can (especially between the keys). Afterwards support the laptop somehow and turn it so that the laptop keyboard is upside down. Keep it like that in a warm place and don't rush to use it for a few days. I have a nice little database that I set up to track donations of items to our organization. The primary table tracks the donor information: name, address, etc. (main form) and I have created a related table that tracks the date of donation and items donated utilizing a sub-form. Thanks to the fine help I received here I was able to relate these tables using a “Link_ID” field and it has worked nicely. (One donor could have multiple donations.)

Now, I’d like to enhance things a little bit. When I enter donor information into the main form and then go to the sub-form for the donation information, I’d like the business_name field to autofill as I start to type. Now, I know this can be done because most commercial databases have this function. Quicken is one that comes to mind. I know it has to pull this information from somewhere, I just need to know how to get it to work!

I have been unsuccessful finding any pertinent information on an “autofill” field in some sources. (I really don’t want a drop-down list box because this could potentially get too large.)

Answer:Auto complete or Auto Fill field in Access?

Yes, well, unfortunately, in Access, the drop-down list is the only type of control that uses auto-fill, unless you want to use a text box and code (there's an example of that in the developer's handbook, but it's complicated).

No matter how big your list is, if you sort the underlying query alphabetically on company name, it will still autofill, and you can even build a not-in-list response to add new customers...

Make sure the auto-expand property of the drop-down (or combo) control is set to Yes, and you'll see that you never even have to drop down the list...

p.s. I saw the options "Change Case", but when I choose "Sentence Case", the program returns to "Toggle Case" by default for some reason; also, tools>options>edit>auto correct doesn't contain/list all the changes that this program actually makes to the document, so I cannot uncheck them there...

I'm being reduced to a jibbering wreck by some of MSPublisher's Auto Correct features. Is there any way of changing the default so that Automatic Bulleted Lists and Automatic Numbered Lists (Tools/Auto Correct/Auto Format as you type) are opt in rather than opt out?

I have Windows XP on my computer, but still am using Outlook 2000.
Messages come in automatically at regular intervals, but when I send an email, I must click on the "SEND/RECEIVE" button, or it will sit there until I do! It doesn't send even when a new message is coming in.

What can I do to fix this?

Answer:Outlook 2000 auto-receives, but does not auto-send

Hi Indy and welcome to the forums,

I have no experience with Outlook 2000 unfortunately but I would assume you have a setting turned off - something along the lines of 'Send e-mails automatically'.

I think it would be in Tools > Options? I suggest just hunting around in there and checking various settings

Hope this helps,

Yesterday I downloaded a file that I believe infected my desktop computer (Bad Dobby! Dobby will have to punish himself most grievously).Avast did say it was scanning the download for viruses and then allowed me to save it to my desktop. Avast did not catch it until it had finshed downloading then it warned me of a worm. I imediately allowed Avast to deal with it (quarientine it) but almost instantly I lost internet connectivity and windows firewall was shut down. I use a router and my laptop can still connect to the web but I cannot get the desktop to connect through the same connection. I am using the laptop to download/post etc.Avast was up to date.I cannot run Kaspersky scan on the desktop as free version is online scan only.I have done a full Avast scan and it found the autorun.inf on both the C: and F: internal drives on my desktop. Avast quarientined both and I asked it to delete them. On reboot there is not change in the problem. Windows starts with the firewall disabled and I have no internet connectivity. I can manually restart Windows Firewall and have before any scans as instructed on the guide pages.I reviewed FAQ/guides on the site and noted 1. Unblock MBAM by following the directions in this self help guide I started RootRepeal I get the "Could not find kernel on disk (C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe)!"I hit OK and did a scan under file only and get e report that d... I apologize but I had to move forward on my problem as my family was without a functioning computer that they rely on for schooling. I realize it would have been preferred for me to wait for the input.I will provide a summary to help others (in particular the techs) and hope someone can direct me to the best place to fix a few of the odd remaining ?quirks? from this infection.I searched further on the ?Gaopdx? worm and found discussion of using MBAM and then ComboFix. I downloaded both to my laptop through the same router my desktop is connected to (as the desk top connection was still dead to the same router). I used a thumb drive to move the files to the desktop and tried to install MBAM. MBAM ?installed? but I could not load it. I followed each recommendation systematically that I found here (see Feb 20 2009, 08:49 PM post)None of the suggestions to run MBAM (changing extensions and not using the mouse) worked.I then installed ComboFix. It asked me to install Windows Recovery Console but as a result of the infection the connection was down and this was not possible. I went ahead and ran ComboFix. ComboFix found and removed quite a few types of Gaopdx and after a couple of restarts during the running of ComboFix the computer is running fine now.I then ran MBAM short scan and long scan and the computer came up clean in both cases. The only scars left from the Gaopdx worm is Windows Firewall is always off when the co... I'm troubleshooting sound driver issues and have come across something peculiar. I tried shutting off the auto driver update for windows because I do not want the specific drivers that they are going to use. In the screenshot you can see that an installation occurs even with the setting turned off. My question is, are these some default generic type audio drivers such that they will not interfere with the soundcard drivers? Is this some background type driver that will be installed regardless?

You can click on the picture to enlarge it up to enlarge it up to 1680x1050.

Thanks for help.

I've tried setting the "turn auto play off" setting to disabled and I've made sure that every setting in control panel is set to "ask me every time". I appreciate any help you can give me. THANKS!

Assume I boot Win10 from an USB flash drive on various computers.

The max possible resolution differs from computer to computer.

I could always manually fiddle through the menus and set the current max.possible resolution manually.
But this is uncomfortable.

Is there a utility or cmdline command which searches automatically for the max possible resolution and set it up accordingly?

Answer:How to auto-detect and auto-adjust max.resolution?

theres a thing called EDID that should do it for you without any extra tools or command lines. its basic stuff for all the analog or digital video signals between pc and monitor.

things like bad / wrong cable can do the issues easily.

My mouse keeps auto scrolling or auto zooming. For example: I visit Google Maps in Chrome/Edge and the mouse instantly zooms in. Or I open Explorer and the mouse auto scrolls down to the bottom of the window.

Does anyone know how to fix this? There is no indication of a virus. I am running WIN 10 (64 bit) on a desktop PC (no touchpad). All device drivers are up-to-date. I also swapped the mouse with a different one and the same thing happens (so that leads me to believe it's a configuration setting).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I just ran across a problem with 10240. When I used my touchpad to move around the desktop, icons are automatically selected and started. The problem went away after a restart but now I am very careful using my touchpad. I think I may have to look and see if a new driver is available.

Good day to everyone,

I've bought some parts of my system (processor, motherboard, memory, graphics card) this January 2007. Here are the specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
Asus P5B-Deluxe
2GB DDR2 paired Corsair XMS2 series (placed in interleaved mode)
Nvidia 7600GT 256MB 128-bit
4 Storage devices:
-1 Seagate 80GB SATA
-1 Seagate 250GB SATA
-1 Seagate 40GB PATA (master)
-1 Sony DVD-Writer (slave)
535 Watts Enermax EG565P-VE 24P
Samsung 19" 940BW (connected using DVI)
Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Tuner (PCI)
Standard A4Tech PS2Keyboard
Brandless USB optical mouse
Windows XP Service Pack 2

The problem started two days:
-the system randomly resets itself at random stages of boot/use: before POST could begin (before the first beep when the basic info on the graphics card is displayed); during POST; in the BIOS setup; after POST; during OS startup; OS running, idle or in use.
-at random, either after an auto-reset or manual power-on, the system will immediately (before the basic info on the graphics card is displayed) auto-off for 3 seconds then auto-on.
-at random, after an auto-reset, the screen will just be blank and the power button won't work, even after pressing it for more than 4 seconds.
-at random, though seldom but only after an auto-reset, BIOS would report that I have misconfigured my overclock settings (sorry, I can't recall the exact statement) even though i have never overclocked my system or tampered w/ the timings and voltage settings.... Read more

I want to have a program (B) close automatically when I quit another program (A).

I have created a .bat file, and it looks like this:

start "" steam://run/220260
start /min "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Orekaria\Gamers Window Relocator\GamersWindowRelocator" GamersWindowRelocator.exe

What I would like to do it have the "GamersWindowRelocator.exe" (B) quit automatically when I exit/quit the first program (steam://run/220260) (A), witch is a game.

Is this possible in CMD?
