can't install visual c redistributable, or directx 9.0c, can't update - security update for visual c++, system update...

Question: can't install visual c redistributable, or directx 9.0c, can't update - security update for visual c++, system update...

Hi. I don't know what has happened but my pc is running strangely recently. For example, I can't install the visual c redistributable (vcredist.exe), or directx 9.0c, and some games don't work which did a while ago - now they crash to the desktop. I haven't got a restore which fixes the problem. It is all a bit strange.
I've got windows 7 64 bit on a Dell vostro - i7 860, 4g ram etc.
I've tried microsoft security essentials, all manner of spyware removers including spyware search & destroy to no avail.
What should be the next step in investigating this?
Thanks for any help!

Preferred Solution: can't install visual c redistributable, or directx 9.0c, can't update - security update for visual c++, system update...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: can't install visual c redistributable, or directx 9.0c, can't update - security update for visual c++, system update...

Microsoft Windows 7 already has DirectX 11, so installing version 9 will always fail and is useless. It also has VC++ redistributable 2005 and 2008. The latest version which is not included on Windows 7 is VC++ 2010 redistributables which you should install (but very few games are designed in VC++ 2010 today). When games fail, they create a crash report or log. You should go through them and try to find the possible cause. What message do games show when crashing?Check Event Viewer to find the possible cause of crashing of a game.

Running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on a Dell 1764 laptop.

I purchased a new BlackBerry 9900 which requires Security update for Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistributable to be installed. I have attempted to install it withought success. (received error 1935) Dell support advises it is not compatible with Win 7 64-bit.

Has this ever happened to anyone in this forum and if so, did they find a solution.

Hallo,

excuse me for my mistakes bu I am not a native English speaker.

I run a Windows 7 Pro sp1 x64 and I use NTBackup.exe to perform my weekly full backup (I know that NTBackup is not meant to be run on Windows 7, but it perfectly fits my needs and it perfectly run until last windows update).

Since last windows update of 10/02/2015, NTbackup fails and in the NTBackup log I find this message: "Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:Catastrophic failure".
Looking into Windows Event Log/Applications I find 3x error messages related to in VSS, where the only really significant one is "Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance.  hr = 0x80004002. 42554543584D4C43333533320000000042554543584D4C433334393400000000".

I spent the last three hours reading about potential NTBackup issues and I think I can exclude those related to VSS itself because:
- the "Volume Shadow Copy" and the "Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider" services perfecly start, stop and restart
- I can browse previous versions of files being saved (e.g. because of system restore points)
- the "vssadmin list writers" reports all writers being stable and with no errors
I therefore wanted to try and uninstall the KB3032622 but was unable to, since it is not listed in those than can be uninstalled.
Here my questions:
1- Is anybody experiencing my issue?
2- Has anybody been able to solve it? ... Read more

Answer:Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package (KB3032622) breaking NTBackup

the only other thoughts I have;
- it could be broken, because it was never intended to function, and it has only worked ok until now as a happy accident
- it's extremely unlikely that MSFT would have ever tested for the use of WinXp NTBackup on Win7, so unlikely to get formal support for the scenario
- there may be others with related experience, you may find in the dedicated storage/backup forums like

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=winserverfiles or

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=windowsbackup or perhaps on other discussion forums (non-MSFT forums) ?Don

I seem to be having trouble with updating Microsoft C++ 2005 Redistributable, and every time I try to replace it, it comes up with an error window which basically says that the network resource is unavailable (even though it should be locally stored) I've tried uninstalling with Control Panel, and it comes up with the same error, I've even tried searching for it and all that comes up with is vcredist.bmp, rather than vcredist.msi, There is a screenshot of the error posted below, when I try to uninstall via Control Panel, it says to check if I have the correct priviledges to access the file, even though I am running the true admin, please help!!!

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am not sure about this....

I run Secunia - the software updater/ checker and it tells me that this is outdated and needs a patch for "security reasons"

microsoft visual C++ 2005 redistributable package (x86)

Does anyone know what this is and do I really need to update it?

Obviously I can make a system image before installing in case anything goes wrong but I was just more curious to know what this is.

Thanks!!

PS I am 32 bit!!

Answer:Update Needed: Microsoft visual C++ 2005 redistributable package

Microsoft Visual C++ is normally installed along side an application. They install runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries which are required to run applications developed with Visual C++ on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2005 installed.

Theres a good chance that a piece of software on your system requires the C++ libraries to run, it is safe to leave the application on there, you might have issues with a specific program if you remove it.

If you can verify the update is coming from Microsoft, there should be no problem downloading an update for it.

As the title says -- I've had this damn thing haunting my desktop for months now, and it was published in 2009. Won't install. I've repaired my Visual C++ 2008 redistributable install, uninstalled and installed from scratch... doesn't matter. Gives an "unknown error" and code 643 every time. Google is obviously unhelpful or I wouldn't be posting here. This is on Windows 7 Professional 64bit. Fully legit, otherwise up to date, NOD32 installed and up to date, nothing fishy done on it. Ideas? Suggestions? Solutions?

Answer:KB973924 -- security update for visual c++ 2008 redist -- won't install

Maybe this update doesn't apply to the version you installed?

I have the x86 and x64 versions installed, the SP1 versions for each, and the ATL Security updates. If I was missing an important security update, it would show up on Microsoft Update.

The only problem I had on a fresh installation of Win7 64 was having to move and re-register msdia80.dll after it installed by default to a different partition than the OS partition.

Hello!

I am trying to install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 from the following link.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/down....aspx?id=48145

I pick the x64 version, because that is what my computer is. However, after downloading, when I try to install it by running the program, the progress bar fills fine until the very end, where it freezes. This is shown in picture 1.

When I press cancel, a quick box opens up asking if I'm sure, and when I click yes, the screen looks like what is shown in picture 2.

And so I click on the log file, and it shows me this:

On Steam, there is a game I bought several months ago called Victory at Sea. I played this game for several hours on my laptop and it worked okay. However, when I installed it on my new desktop PC and launched, it gave me this message:

I launched this game directly from the Steam library like any other game I have on Steam and there are no internet connection problems. I looked on the discussions page for this game and I found some posts of players explaining they've had a similar problem just like mine. Fortunately, someone from the game developer team have read these posts and responded with solutions. For some, they fixed their issues. For others including me, they lead to other issues.

I made a post of my own and the developer was kind enough to send me some possible fixes:

I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 and I'm trying to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. However, whenever I run the installation, everything goes fine until a point late in the installation where the green bar fills and I'm given the message

"Publishing product information
Feature: FT_VC_Redist_OpenMP_x64"

and it simply stays like that. I left it for an hour and it did nothing, Google'd the problem and someone else seems to have a similar issue but they unhelpfully said that they "solved it".

I've tried uninstalling it, downloading a new version of the installer, installing in safe mode/"Run as administrator"- nothing works. Anyone have any ideas?

I can't install Visual C++ 2010. Or 2008. Or any Visual C++ as far as I can tell.
I am literally tearing my hair out. I can't play a ton of games that require this and now is a really bad time for me. I have tried almost everything the internet can come up with, and I thought I'd post it here, though it's very likely that like last time, I won't get a single reply.

In any case, I've tried:
Running the installer as administrator
Running it in safe mode
Running it in a clean boot
Uninstalling all VC++ files and reinstalling them (re installation didn't work)
Uninstalling all .NET frameworks and reinstalling (worked fine)
Installing it using a game installer (Specifically, Mechwarrior online, also failed to install VC++)
I've tried running dozens of variations of MS fixit, to no avail
I've posted on the MS forums and called tech support, which suggested that I would pay around 250$ (**** you Microsoft, thank you very much ) to get it fixed. Screw that.
I've used C-Cleaner to clean the registry (might have caused the issue in the first place)
I've de-fragmented regularly
I've updated all the software and drivers (including Windows)
I've created a separate user account that had admin privileges (didn't work there either, meaning it isn't a corrupt user account)
I don't have any restore points from before the issue (trust me, If I get it fixed, I sure as hell will from now on)

I am trying to install some software. The installation goes smoothly until the last minute, when the installer tries to install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable". The problem is no new software will install for me. It gets hung up every time on Visual C++ Redistributable, no matter what version. Lately I've installed and uninstalled many things. Also deleted registry values. So I probably deleted something, I just don't know what.

1. I have tried repairing and uninstalling all versions of VRC++ including 2008 and 2012. Every time it says "initializing" and never moves on.

2. Tried booting clean and in safe mode. Neither worked.

3. Tried creating a new user with admin privileges. Did not work.

4. Tried enabling all Microsoft startup services and disabling all non-Microsoft startup services. Nope.

5. Tried using this tool, VC Redist Installer. I really thought this would work, too! It gets stuck on here forever, no matter if I select 2005 or 2008 or 2012.

What is a guaranteed way to just "replace" these files with a clean version?

Running Windows 7 64-bit, Lenovo laptop.

I'm trying to install an Intel diag tool, an it needs Visual C++ Redistributable x64 - 10.0.30319.
That one won't install because it found the newer Visual C++ Redistributable x64 - 10.0.40219.
Do I actually have to uninstall the newer one to install the older? That's not good because I don't know what needed to install the one I have.

Hello,

I tried to install the trial version of Sony Vegas Pro 9, which installs Microsoft Visual C++ 2008. The C++ external installer crashed and the Vegas installer failed. I got the standalone installer package from microsoft's website, but it does the same thing. It runs, but then there is a message "Exteneral Installer has stopped responding" or something and it won't install.

I'm running (a legal copy of) Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Answer:Solved: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package crashes on install

Fixed my own problem.

Running windows update, getting yesterday's vista updates, and restarted let me use the standalone C++ installer.

Thread: solved.

Do i really need to download those updates form Windows Update? AFAIK, my computer is currently not have any issues relating to those programs. I don't want to download useless updates if i'm it's not really going to benefit me.
EDIT: sorry i just notice i posted in the wrong section.

Answer:Do i need to update .NET and Visual C++?

Most updates to the .net files are for security reasons. I suggest updating them when ms update recommends it.

Hi All!

I'm running Vista HP, SP-2 & got a message to update Visual C++ 2008.
I went to the download page & saw that there's a version for 2012 available.

Should I update the 2008 version ONLY, or should I update it and then install the 2012 version, too?

Thanks for your help!

Answer:Microsoft Visual C++ update questions

Was this update message from Windows Update? I assume that you are referencing the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable. If this is the case, then install the 2008 update.
There's no need to install any later redistributable until such time as you install some software that requires it. When this occurs, the installer will either come bundled with the required redistributable, or let you know that you need to install the required version first - VC++ 2010/2012/etc.

(EDIT: Actual name of item listed in C.P. Add/Remove Programs is "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistrbutible - x86 9.0.30729.6161", and is 10.20 MB.) I know that Windows Vista was given some Visual C++ type update several months ago, I believe more than once; but I could not remember this also being given as Windows Updates on Windows XP (service pack 3). In the last few days, I found some listing in Windows XP Add/Remove of Control Panel for some Windows/Microsoft VC++ or Visual C++ ... something. (I am using a different machine right now, so is hard to check exact name). I never remember seeing that item listed in the XP machine before. The question is, does Windows XP or XP at service pack 3 NORMALLY have this Visual C++ ... stuff, or is this something that only appeared within the last few hours/days? The Add/Remove listing does NOT show any install dates. I do NOT have any C++ compiler on the machine and never did; this VC++ or Visual C++ would be possibly for the use of some other kinds of program (maybe related to my recent installation problems with portable Libre Office).Anyway, I believe I wish to uninstall this VC++/Visual C++ item from the XP machine. Would this hurt anything? Does anyone know what/which program use this item? Is this an important part of Windows XP, or just an update in case the user has some certain applications installed which would require this Windows Update?

Answer:MS Visual C++ Windows Update normal or not for XP?

Visual C updates, as well as others, are applicable across every version of Windows.

If it's installed, I suggest leaving it alone...along with any other Microsoft updates which you may deem undesireable. They serve a purpose, IMO.

Hello,
We have an app in the Windows Market and we need to update it with new features. The users of the current version are logged in and hace some cache data on their devices.
How can I emulate (with Visual Studio) the "update process" with the new version in order to check that the app updates correctly and the user does not have to login again (once the new version is installed)?
Thank you

Hi Guys,
With the new Second Edition of Security Update Guide, it is difficult to follow all updates on all OS's. All KB articles are listed on all Servers version.
Before, with the Microsoft Security Bulletin, it was possible to properly approve required patches on all versions of OS's on (WSUS 3.0 SP2) on a single click. But now each KB should be approved one-by-one.
Do you have a remedy to this?

Hello,

Recently my hard-drive crashed, but I was lucky to have 3 in my computer. I removed the broken one and put only 1 back, in socket 0. I installed Windows 7 64 bits on this hard drive and everything seemed to be working fine. But now the big problem. Whenever I start a game it gives me this error.

Translated from Dutch:
This program can not be started because MSVCR100.dll is missing on your computer. You can probably solve this problem with reinstalling the program.

I've been googling my ass of for the last 2 days now. Installed the drivers dozens of times, tried all versions. I've tried to put both versions of the 32 bits and 64 bits Visual++ on my computer the same time. I've tried it in Windows Safe mode, installed my Windows 7 3 times (including all updates omg). Now I just don't know what to do anymore and I'm hoping someone here is willing to help me. In Windows Safe mode it said last time the installation was succesfull with the Visual++, but whenever I try it without it will always say it failed. Even when I try uninstalling it, I just can not uninstall the freaking thing anymore.

Windows Update tells me that an "Important" update to take is for Visual Studio 2005, called Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2467175). When I use the links in Windows Update to get more information, nothing there tells me why I would need this update.

I have not installed Visual Studio on this machine, and I never do any kind of C++ programming. On the other hand, I find in Control Panel two listings related to "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable", so I do not know what these mean and I do not know what they do nor what the update will do. The information site from Microsoft on this does not give anything useful to help me know if the update is useful, nor why it would be designated as "Important".

Could someone here tell me what I need to know?

It is caught in an endless loop!

How do I stop it.

Hello everyone,
I am using Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
I want to know that do I have to first download Visual Studio 2012 and then install Visual Studio 2012 update 1 or do I just have to install Visual Studio 2012 update 1 and will that cover all the features of VS 2012 ??Next I want to know that if there is a 64bit version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate, because I am yet unable to find it ? Some people are saying that Microsoft only released the 32bit version, is that true ?

Thank You.

Answer:Do I have to download Visual Studio 2012 and then update 1

Yes you'd have to install the main programme first and I don't believe it comes in 64-bit yet but there is a special version for Windows 8 here that supports both x86 and x64 architecture: Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8 | Microsoft Visual Studio

I don't use it myself so can't advise on how to get it working.

1 day ago installed the Windows 10 Fall Creators update and now during bootup I get multiple Bad Image File messages for MSVCR110.dll and MSVCP120.dll.  These are mostly associated with Nividia and Synapse with an occasional reader.sl.exe.  Correcting this problem seems to be problematic.  The redistribute Visual C++ software comes from the same company that initiated the incompatability issue in the first place.  Removal and reistallation of the RZ Synapse is about an 8 step process that I have not tried yet.  If someone has experienced these issues and found a reasonable Fix please point me in the the general direction.  Y900 RE is my computer.

Hello!

Yes, you should download those updates. They are not updates for your copy of Windows, but rather for your copies of the Visual C++ Redistributables. The SP1 refers to these products, and not Windows itself, and for these products, SP1 is the latest service pack.

This is quite difficult to get your head around. Do you sort of understand? Either way, you should install those updates, and do feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I found some questionable files this week that had been downloaded by my son. I have since spent a great deal of time trying to scan and clean the computer. Each malware/spyware/anti-virus scanner has had varying levels of success.

It seems that the bulk of my issues have been resolved but I am still unable to install the following update from Microsoft: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2719177)

Each time I try to update it, it aborts and gives me an error code (80073712), that is not showing up in any google searches or searches of microsoft's site.

Additionally, every time I shutdown or restart the computer it shows that new updates are being installed.

I am using Windows 7 home premium 64-bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

For the product we develop, which is now compiled using MSVC 2015, we need to provide a way in our installer to automate the process of installing the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015.
Now I've seen that prior to 2015, I could either find what is called a Redistributable XY or a Redistributable Package XY.
It's not clear to me what the difference is between the two. Could you please explain to me what are the pros and cons between the two?

Also, is there a plan to provide a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package 2015? Or is the "Reditributable Package" thingy over now?

Thanks.

Answer:Visual Studio 2015 Crash on Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Applications don't always migrate correctly to a new build. So sometimes, you are forced to re-install them.

This is not a problem with "the new windows", it's a problem with the app migration during the upgrade. Re-installing makes things correct again.

I need a script that will update the range of a pivot table. A dynamic named range will not work because I will be replacing the worksheet that the range would refer to which causes an error. Right now I have:

Private Sub UpdatePivot()
Dim lrow As Long
Dim pvt As PivotTable

lrow = Sheets("OngoingIR_ER").Range("A65535").End(xlUp).Row
Set pvt = ActiveSheet.PivotTables(1)
pvt.SourceData = Range("A1:AS" & lrow).CurrentRegion.Address(True, True, xlR1C1, True)

End Sub

I get an error that my range must refer to two or more rows of data. Any ideas here?

Answer:Visual Studio 2015 Crash on Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Applications don't always migrate correctly to a new build. So sometimes, you are forced to re-install them.

This is not a problem with "the new windows", it's a problem with the app migration during the upgrade. Re-installing makes things correct again.

So, I recently installed Office 2016 and Visual Studio Enterprise 2017, which I need for work and school. Before this I had just installed the Creators Update a few days ago and all is working fine. I searched for updates today, a bunch came up for Office but none for VS. Now, over 3 hours later, it's still at 0% downloaded. I would estimate the download size to be around 1GB, but checking C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution (where Windows stores updates) only shows around 80MB used space. I checked several times and it hasn't really increased. Task Manager shows virtually 0% network usage, a bit here and there, but very sporadic and nothing big. I have access to a business class fiber optics connection here at my business, so speed/bandwidth isn't the issue. I do have a firewall but I have downloaded updates here before on both my business and personal machines. This is my personal laptop running Windows 10 Enterprise.

Disk checks on all partitions reveal no errors and sfc /scannow comes up clean. I've tried deleting the contents of my user and system temp folders, as well as force-stopping the Windows Update service and cleaning its' folder. I've also ran Disk Cleanup.

What could be going on here? Thanks!

Hiya

The Nimda virus has been detected within one of the compressed help files included in the Korean language version of Application Center Test (ACT). ACT is a component of the Korean language versions of the Visual Studio .NET.

In all analyzed scenarios, Microsoft considers the likelihood of activating the virus to be extremely low, if not impossible.

Microsoft has released an update that eliminates the infected files from an existing installation of (Korean) Visual Studio .NET.

System Requirements

Any one of these Korean releases:

Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect, Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Developer, Visual Studio .NET Professional, and Standard editions of all Microsoft developer tools, including Visual Basic .NET, Visual C++ .NET, and Visual C# .NET.

Operating System - Windows NT 4.0 & 2000, Win XP

The Composition APIs come with a robust animation engine that provides quick and fluid motion running in a separate process from your Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app. This ensures a consistent 60 frames per second when running your app on an IoT device as well as on a screaming gaming machine. It is, quite simply, fast. This is an essential capability for implementing the Fluent Design System which calls on us to create a sense of cinematic motion in our UWP apps.

The Composition APIs also provide something you probably have never had access to before: the ability to create high-performing, low-level manipulation-driven custom animations like the one shown above. In the same way that we that want our visuals to be fast and smooth, we want our touch interactions to be sticky and responsive. Moving a visual with a finger or a digital pen should result in the visual element clinging to us no matter how fast we push and pull it across the display.

Even if a motion looks good, it also needs to feel good under the finger. It needs to maintain the illusion that we are interacting with a real object. It ought to possess the proper physics so that when we drag a visual across the screen and let go, it continues with the proper inertial movement. Similarly, user controls should provide the right amount of resistance when we pull and release them.

The Windows 10 Creators Update marks the third major release of the Windows UI platform APIs. With each release, an attempt is frequently made to simplify features introduced in prior releases. This encourages Universal Windows Platform (UWP) developers to standardize on these features. The new hide and show implicit animations are an example of this.

At the same time, too much standardization can potentially lead to conformity, so with each new release more powerful visual features like the new custom animations are also added, which allow developers who are willing and able to dive into them to customize their user interfaces and stand out from the crowd. This inherent tension between ease of use and the power to customize rewards developers for their efforts while also making sure that no one gets left behind.

Hide and show animations for page transitions
Page transitions, often accompanied by state transitions as visual elements, are added to the visual tree of the new page. In fact, a lot of interactivity in UWP simply involves deciding which content to show and which content to hide as the state of the app changes. More often than not, this is tied to changing the value of the Visibility properties of the elements on the screen.

In the Creators Update, two new implicit animation techniques have been added to help you make these transitions more fluid: ElementCompositionPreview.SetImplicitShowAnimation and ElementCompositionPreview.SetImplicitHideAnimation. When... Read more

I have no idea what this feature does but my ThinkPad has 9 versions of it, see attached pic. Is this normal? Are they all required? I ask because my Win 7 is very slow to fire up, though fine once up and running, and I'm going through the whole repertoire here - checking startups, checking errors in event viewer, updating drivers etc, so far without much sign of improvement.

Answer:Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

It is normal to have multiple versions. Windows adds them to the WinSxS folder and the application picks the version it needs

Each has its own runtime libraries. Each is independent and the various programs needing them will call the one needed. These are not the reason for your slowdown. If you haven't seen these already:

I am having a problem playing a new game (Bad Company 2) and it seems to be related to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. It starts an install for the file, has an error, and fails.

My question is - How do you remove this program? It is on the Add/Remove programs list (actually, there are 3 versions) but I cannot remove them, I get an msiexec.exe error. I tried to download the program from windows update, but it fails to download from there as well.

Any thoughts?

Can someone please explain to me why I have got this programme on my computer?: Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
I never downloaded it but I am forever getting updates from Microsoft.
Do I need this or not?
Chris

Answer:Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

It's programming, installed as part of another software program that uses C++ language.
"The Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) installs runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run applications developed with Visual C++ 2010 SP1 on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2010 SP1 installed." ClickHere
Apparently "If the software that you've installed on your machine needs them ... well, then you need them. If it doesn't, then you might not. But given that they only appear on your machine if software that uses them is present, I would expect that you probably do need them" ClickHere for explanation

Hello everyone,

This problem has been haunting me for awhile and I've finally decided to address it. My Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable has been giving me difficulties mainly when attempting to install programs. I receive an error about V C++ being missing and being prompted to install it via CD, considering I don't have the CD I cannot install it. Upon trying to install it via software downloaded from Microsoft themselves nothing happens, the software prepares for installation then promptly disappears. When I try to uninstall it via Add or Remove Programs I am prompted AGAIN to insert the CD for the software.

Can anyone please help me solve this tediously annoying issue before I go insane?

Thank you to all in advance!

Since you have 64bit Windows, download and install both x86 and x64 service packed versions (if applicable) of:

- 2008
- 2010
- 2012
- 2013

What exactly are these programs? I have like 5-6 of them, and was wondering if it is safe to uninstall them.

Like, are there any programs that are dependent upon it?

Answer:Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable

They are normally installed along side an application. They install runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries which are required to run applications developed with Visual C++ on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2008 installed.

Theres a good chance that a piece of software on your system requires the C++ libraries to run, it is safe to leave the application on there, you might have issues with a specific program if you remove it.

I uninstalled the C++ Redistributable and reinstalled it and am still getting the same error.

Hiya

This package includes all you need to run a Visual J# .NET application on a machine with the .NET Framework installed. Answer:Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable

Do you have an ATI graphics card and use the Catalyst Control Centre? I think it installs with that.

I keep trying to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2005 on my new computer and it just does not want to finish. I get to about 70% through the configuration thing and it just stops. The error I get is "Error 1935.And error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.type="win32".version="8.0.50727.42".publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="amd64".

And then when I want to try and install again, I have to reboot because it says that there is already an install occurring.

My system specs are :
Windows 7 64bit Professional
AMD Radeon HD 6700 series
8GB DDR3 RAM
1TB Hard Drive
AMD FX 4100 Quad Core 3.6GHz

Can anyone help me? I just want to install this thing so I can install all my games and other programs ><

Why aren't these redistributable packages distributed with Microsoft Windows as default and why are they not backwards compatible? There are even separate x86 and x64 builds for it. This is creating a mess of approximately 20 separate installations in
the installed apps section of Windows. Also this is creating a potential problem if some of the developers do not include the vcredist installer with their software thus getting an error of msvcr...dll not found or even worse less explanatory error.
