BEEP Tic vs BEEP BEEP at start-up

Question: BEEP Tic vs BEEP BEEP at start-up

Windows XP, Service Pac 3

I just had a "search engine redirect issue" fixed by "Gringo." One thing that is different now is at windows start-up, this laptop makes a BEEP TIC (Higher in frequency than the BEEP) vs the BEEP BEEP sounds I've had for ever. The computer start-up sequence is very slow as it takes minutes before the computer is ready to be used.

During the virus removal, a few times the reboot start-up sounds were BEEP - TIC - BEEP (again the TIC was higher a higher tone and faster than the BEEPs). What do the different sounds mean?

I'll start another thread requesting help to fix my computer problems.

Preferred Solution: BEEP Tic vs BEEP BEEP at start-up

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My laptop here is a Dell Inspiron 15, 3000 series.
The laptop itself works perfectly fine, I am able to get into windows (which I installed myself, it originally came with Ubuntu).
Occasionally though, it will do a BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE (repeats).
This happens on boot and sometimes when I am using it. Sometimes it turns off suddenly when I am shifting the computer around. It's extremely loud.

What is causing this? The sound seems to be coming from around the area the Memory banks are under the laptop, but nothing seems to suggest that anything is wrong.
I took a suggestion and used FN+Power to do Hardware Diagnostics which said nothing is wrong.

What else can I try?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 - 3000 series - Beep Beep Beep Pause Beep Beep Beep

I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if the beep pattern repeats.

Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the beep pattern repeats and reply us with the beep count.

If you still receive 3 Beeps on the system then it indicates System board failure.. You will have to replace it on the laptop.
Please let me know the findings.

I am getting beep sounds when i turn on my dell inspiron n5010.
Nothing is showing up other than beep sounds.
Please help me out

Answer:RE: Dell Inspiron 15 - 3000 series - Beep Beep Beep Pause Beep Beep Beep

Hi Ganny,
What are the exact # of beeps in a cycle?
Kindly review this chart and see page# 47 - it will help isolate the source of the issue.
Based on the exact # of beeps, that part would need to be replaced.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

I understand that this means there is a system board error. I have a very good reason to believe that the BIOS had an issue (when I checked it before this happened, it had 75 boot options listed and said the volitale memory was almost full). Question: can I somehow force the BIOS to reset itself? Is there a pin short I can use for this? Of course I am 2 weeks out of warranty :/ I assume if I sent it in they would just charge for a boarsd swap... likely $500-$600 dollars. Thanks for any help!

Answer:X230 1 beep, 3 beep, 3 beep, 1 beep, no screen: can I reset the BIOS?

1-3-3-1 means no memory. If you have 2 DIMMs, try with just one, then just the other. When you try with just one DIMM, it needs to go into slot-0. When you have the machine sitting lid-down and the battery compartment away from you, slot-0 is the one on the right.

My X230 gets very little use since I bought it in 2012... sometimes no use at all for weeks at a time. Yet the system board failed, as did a replacement, and now the third board seems to have failed. On startup I get 1 beep, 3 beep, 3 beep, 1 beep and a blank screen. I tried the existing RAM stick in both slots: no startI bought and tried a NEW stick of RAM from Crucial in both slots: no startI tried both sticks in the slots at the same time: no start Other than another bad system board, what could it be? Where can I get a system board that might last? By the way, at the same time I bought the X230 I also bought a T530 that gets gallons of heavy use almost every day and never had a problem that I didn't cause myself.

1-1-4-1 - Cache Error (level 2). You have a problem with the bios, which may require the replacement of the entire motherboard.

Hi, I have been using the Y480 for almost 2 years. However, when I boot up this morning, it just beep beep beep continously. and the screen just have a cursor blinking. But after I reboot again and press F2 to enter bios, and then quit bios settings, the notebook can be boot up successfully. I have backup everything I need What should I do to fix the error? Is my harddisk gonna be failed? I have lost all the purchase receipts but I have registered 2 years ago. Thanks!Peter

Answer:Y480 continous beep beep beep during startup

Beeps are error messages from the Motherboard. Either the MOBO is failing or you have a problem with your RAM, I dont think it is related to your HDD, but you should create a backup. Also, if you don't have, please create recovery disks immediately. You may want to do more research depending on the BIOS manufacturer and the beep codes. You can google these terms and you should find information on the procedure to validate this. You can also try to re-seat the RAM, maybe it got a bit unsettled, if you moved the laptop. All in all, if you took the externded warranty and you are still under it, you may want to send the laptop to Lenovo for repairs.

I have two printers connected to a Dell E520 through Vista. They are a Brother 5440CN and a HP 6110xi. The .Brother works ok but I can't say the same for the HP. Clicking any button on the HP gives the same response. Beep, beep, beep. I have recently moved the system to a new location just a couple of feet from where it was. Before the move Brother would scan and copy and the HP would do the same, but now as noted I can't get any response out of it but beep, beep, beep

Anybody have any ideas??.

my laptop is acting up. i have a toshiba satellite m305d-s4830
amd turion ultra x2 dual core mobile processor zm-80
4096mb 800 mhz 50ram
250gb (5400rpm) hdd

i shut it down properly upon finding that my C key was on the fritz. a couple of months ago, my E key had been doing the same (randomly not working and randomly typing e consistently). once i rebooted, i got the message "Operating System (OS) Not Found".

i let my computer rest for a while and turned it back on. i currently get the toshiba startup, but around when it's suppose to load the os, it beeps continuously at the loudest volume with a contantly blinking underscore in white font on a black background.

i believe this may have happened once before, but i have no clue what i did to fix it.

there are no extra items like CDs or disks in the laptop.

I have ThinkPad T500, 2241, CTO. Every time laptop boots, there is an annoying beep. It is not a beep sound that one might have when power status changes. Beep is off both in Power Manager and turned off in BIOS section of power management. Moreover, in device manager in non-plug and play list i disabled the BEEP. Still this annoying sound is there. BIOS is updated. However, there is no other section in BIOS where I can turn off the beep. Please help!Message Edited by Gordik on 03-22-2009 09:31 PM

Answer:T500 annoying beep!!! (cause is not battery power management and not BEEP in device manager)

Look through the bios again, there is a separate entry for beeps afaik. Did you look in the section where you can also set power mode beeps, keyboard beeps etc? I think its there, not 100% sure though.

any ideas?

Answer:Compaq bios freeze short beep long beep

Is the beep pattern just one short one long? Check your manual for the POST beep codes to determine what it is telling you. All POST beep codes are different so there's no way to tell unless we know exact model of your PC. The manual usually has the beep code in it, though.

Answer:CPU fan is working for few seconds and stoped then a long beep and 2 short beep

Hello, Your reported T61 bios beep codes would indicate you have one of the following failures: System boardLCD assemblyDIMMThe DIMMS would be my first choice to test so, if you have more than one DIMM installed, try try removing one of them and try to boot, if OK, you have removed the bad RAM; however, if the results are the same, remove the other DIMM and install the one you removed previously. If you can boot OK now, you have isolated the bad RAM. Now, if you can't boot with either stick, then, I guess the RAM is not the problem (unless you have two bad sticks and I doubt that). See the Memory Removal and Installation Guide for more information. Good luck!

Hi guys,

I have an Asus Z97A Motherboard/GTX 1080/24GB DDR3Gskill/ 500 GB SSD + 1to HDD and recently when i boot my PC i hear 1 long beep then quickly after 3 short beep.. I've searched in Asus website about the meaning of these beep and it's written that it's a Video card faulty..

But well just after these beep my pc is booting well ! and video card working well too, i've no problem playing games.

The strange thing also is that it's making these beep like 1 time every 2 or 3 days as i shut down my pc every night and when i'm going to work.

Do you have an idea of what i can do ??

EDIT : And by the way here's what i tried,

-Disable integrated graphic
-Clear CMOS
-Update Nvidia driver

A few times now my E5440 will give a low beep... then a few seconds go by, and another beep. It just happened a minute ago - only two beeps this time. But I think it happened a few days ago and beeped several times with the same pause of a few/several seconds in between the beeps. It's so quiet that before I've thought I was imagining it. But this time I was sitting in front of it typing.
There are no pop-up notifications on the screen anything is wrong, such as the 'disconnection' sound when you remove a portable HDD, or your Wi-Fi disconnects. Nothing to indicate what the beeps mean. The laptop is working perfectly. Battery is fully charged. I can hear the fan turning and changing speed but it's 2:30am here with no outside noise and I can barely hear the fan. (I assume it would be spinning up like crazy if something were overheating.)
I'm at a loss what it means. Does anyone know?
I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit if that matters.

My computer has been making this noise for quite some time now. but it would only happen once every few days so it didn't really concern me until now because its happening non stop. The noise is definitely coming from system sounds. I'm not sure if this is related but under device manager there is an unknown device which i cannot account for as i put the computer together and I'm staring in to the case rite now. there is also a yellow icon by teredo tunneling pseudo-interface (i have no idea what that is)lately my computer just seems to be working really hard when idling. the cpu is constantly spiking up to 100% usage and my hard drives seem to constantly be spinning. specscpu: intel core 2 duomobo: abit ab9ram: 1gb ddr2gfx: geforce 9800 gtx+hd: 2 seagate internal drives (1 with os) the other blank for storage. In my mind there are two possibilities. 1 i have some sort of virus. 2 some hardware is malfunctioning. either way i have no idea where to start and i was hoping someone could point me in the rite direction. Thank You!

I have this problem since the first day I use this laptop toshiba ,at 30%+ volume a dull beep (phone type) comes out of my speakers, not having the problem when I use a pair of headphones I think it's a problem of packing cases, any ideas?

Answer:Beep beep from Qosmio X770 speakers

To be honest I?ve never heard about such issue and really don't know why this happen but if this issue happens from the first day I think you should contact your local dealer or nearest Toshiba service provider directly and ask for help.

Generally speaking preinstalled recovery image and all installed drivers are tested so I cannot imagine it is some software related issue. Contact service and ask for help. Hey should check this and fix it. valid warranty will cover all costs.

I tried installing an MSI Radeon HD 6450 2GB Pci express x16 video card. Once hooked up, I boot up and computer beeps, from what I can tell 1 or 2 long beeps, 8 short beeps. I was running built in 128m video so I disabled that in the Bios, but that didn't do it.

I noticed the Video card manuf. recommends minimum 400W PS, my rig only has a 300W PS. Would that really affect my upgrade or am I barking up the wrong tree. I don't want to fork over for a new PS unless it' warented. Thanks a bunch.

Answer:2G Graphics card upgrade...Beep! beep!

It's possible you need a new PSU.

The TDP on that card is only 27 Watts and it doesn't require a hook up so I would think your current PSU could maybe support but I wouldn't risk it. There is also the possibility that the motherboard you have isn't providing enough power to the card.

You could try to re-seat the card or clean out the PCI express slot and see if that helps.

I am trying to help with a Dell Inspiron 5100.
The computer was running very slow and I've made a bit of progress resolving that. I think it needs some more RAM and I'm not sure if that could be at all related to the following.
The problem now is that after running for few hours, then shutting down, then trying to turn back on:
1. light comes on indicating computer is on
2. the computer makes 2 beeps
3. screen
4. screen
5. and so on

This does not happen everytime trying to start the computer so I'm really at a loss. I've read about overheating in this model which would seem to make sense but sometimes this will happen after the computer has been off for a day or so.

At a complete loss now.

Any assistance much appreciated!

Hi, Today I replaced my old graphics card with a new GeForce 9500GT and also added a new Kingston 2GB Ram Card. I installed both of them then restarted the computer, since then it has only powered on and playing 1 short beep then 1 long beep. I've tryed everything I can think of ranging from taking out everything new and putting it back to before I added the new items to completely taking out all 3 RAM sticks and reseating them. I'm not sure how a brand new unopened 2GB ram stick that fit perfectly and a brand new right out of the box graphics card can cause a problem like this. I've been through the ins and outs of the internet trying to find a solution but nothing has worked. Hoping someone can think of a unique way to fix this or how it could have possibly happened in the first place. I dont buy anything used everything placed inside my computer was/is brand new when it was purchased. Any help/comments on solutions would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Is it possible you are hearing 1 long - one short?
That might indicate a BIOS CHECKSUM error, depending on the brand of BIOS.

You can try a ClearCMOS procedure (CLRTC is the same thing):
Note all your current BIOS settings
Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
Remove the 3v motherboard battery.
Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time.

Good afternoon,I'm having trouble with my windows vista computer. When I start it up, nothing appears and there is a beep noise. It goes beep beep then there is a 3 second pause then another beep beep. I don't know how to fix this and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Windows Vista Beep Beep

These "Beep codes", as they're called, are to notify you that the Power On Self Test, or POST, has failed. The number and sequence of beeps is generally to identify which component failed, but without knowing the manufacturer, specifically the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System), it would be difficult to determine what the beep code is identifying as the problem component. For a successful Power On Self Test to take place, the following components must be working:BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) CPU (Central processing Unit) or processorPSU (Power Supply Unit) Video Output device (Graphics card)RAM (Random Access Memory)If any of these fail, your computer will not power on properly, and may exhibit symptoms like what you are describing. Generally, the first step in fixing a computer that refuses to start up is to isolate components that may be causing the problem. One thing to try would be to clean the internals of your computer (Warning: be sure power is turned off to your computer before working on internals!) and to reseat components like RAM, peripheral cards (such as your graphics card), etc.. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, you may think of taking the computer in to a reputable shop- most places that are reputable would not charge or would charge very little to clean and reseat a couple components. Chances are that the problem component is either RAM or Graphics card, these components tend to fail or require service faster than others, and may als... Read more

I turned my wife's computer on and the screen didn't even flicker and all it does is beep at me.
I tried removing on componant at a time and started it after every removal.
Still beeps at me.
Until I got to the CPU. It stopped beeping at me. Of course, every other piece was out of the puter, so I'm not sure if its supposed to stop beeping or if thats the problem.
Any ideas?

Answer:beep beep beep pc beeps

It could be that your Pc is overheating. If it has been with you for a while then dust gets stuck in the heat sink of the procesor and on its fan this makes the fan go slow and that causes the overheating.Ifyou know a little about Pc then switch off the PC at the mains take off the side pannel of the tower and look on the mother board for a small fan, you could put a vacuumm close to the fan and this may take out the dust, if not you will need to take off the fan to clean the heat sink

Hi every1, Pls help me, I've bought 2 new ram cards from Each card is (256MB 144-Pin SoDimm 32MX64 PC133Mhz) equalling 512MB, because i was told the beeps are ram problems. And they both worked fine for a while, no beeps T22 loads up, but now all of a sudden my T22 beeps when i turn it on so i've swapped the ram cards about, still beeps when i switch the laptop on. so i took 1 ram card out and tried it with just 1 card (256MB) in both slots, perfect!! no beeps and loaded up perfectly when i put the card in each slot. When i try the other card with the first card BEEPING again!!!! so i tried that card on its own in each slot and beep again, thats the second time i had to send one back. Also should my Ram cards be PC133Mhz or PC100Mhz? Does that mean "one out of three times the wallpaper changes"? Have you looked in your Control Panel under Sounds and see if anything is set that might cause it?

For some silly reason I removed the 2 128mg PC2100DR ram sticks from my old computer that was working just fine. When I reinstalled them and I try to boot up I get a long beep, a pause, and another long beep. This senario continues and I shut the computer down as soon as possible. I'm sure I have the ram seated properly. Any ideas? Thank you in advance

If you are sure that you have them seated correctly try one stick at a time.

My Asrock K7S8X, AMD+ 2.1, 512 MB PC has always run fine, but now it starts ok although the fan seems to be racing on, then the post beep, fine, then just as the fan starts to slow and the resultant volume deceases from the aforesaid fan, a second post-style beep occurs. I have a program called MotherBoardMonitor which tells me that the minimum speed for the fan is 2500RPM, my CPU temp is (approx) 47 to 54 , Mobo temp around 31, what could the problem be, i cant find any specific info on the net after hours of looking, thanks for any help, G

Before you do anything else reseat your RAM modules. If this doesn't fix it go back to basics - disconnect everything from your mobo except graphics card, power and RAM does it boot the monitor on start up? If not and you only have 1 ram module fitted beg or borrow another and try that - if you have 2 ram modules try them one at a time on their own. Post back when done and adviseRgds

Question: Beeeep, beep beep

I just got new asus AM2 mobo and I'm getting beeps on start. 1 long beep and two short. Somewhere I found it is related to video card. I'm not sure if that's true, but I know videocard is functional and inserted correctly.
The mobo has it's own video, so I tried using only that, same thing. It just doesn't seem to make sense.

Answer:Beeeep, beep beep

One long two short looks like a video issue, as you said. You say it is also happening when you remove the graphics card and try to boot up with the onboard graphics?

Here's what I'd do:

Remove the motherboard from the case and set it on a box beside your case. Next, reset cmos (check your manual to find the cmos jumper pins).

Remove everything from the motherboard except:

cpu with heatsink/fan
one stick of ram
power supply connections to the motherboard (should be two)
connect the case's speaker to the motherboard

Then use a screwdriver to quickly touch (short) the two pins that usually connect to your case's power on switch.

See what kind of beeps you get.

If you still get the beeps, my guess is your need to RMA the board, but please post your system's full specs (including your power supply specs)

Good luck!

I just got a strange reaction from my pc. It was working fine last night, I went to start, turn off computer, shut down and went to bed. I got up this morning and I saw a notice on the screen (PC did not shut down during the night) It said there was a change to the global template for microsoft word and did I want to save changes so I said no and the pc shut down. Later on I tried to call up my key logger and heard a beeping noise from within my pc. I paid it no attention and went on the rest of the day working. I was using Quicken later on and noticed that when I tried to view certain graphs they seemed to be "fluttering" (The page seemed to go up and down rapidly on its own) I closed it and ran Avast antivirus scan. I tried to activate it and got an error message that said it ran into some kind of runtime error (I think) I finly got it started, ran a scan and came up empty of viruses. Then Avast kept shutting itself off. I emptied my waste basket, went to internet options, deleted all files and history (Including online content) then cleared all in Firefox. Next I went to start, run msconfig, start up disable all, restart, back to start, run, msconfig, enable all, reboot and everything seems to be fine now. Can anyone tell me what this may have or still is?

Answer:to beep or not to beep(that is the question)

Hi SLAYER. Although I've read that some motherboards don't have a POST beep, I personally haven't come across one. The most likely cause of no beep is that there isn't a connection between the case speaker and the motherboard. Possible causes that immediately come to mind are broken wire or the speaker connector doesn't match the motherboard header pins - possible one is wired for 3 pins and the other for 2 pins. If the motherboard connection is correct, remove the socket from the header and touch a 1.5V battery to the connector. You should get a distinct clicking from the speaker.

Ok, the other day my girlfriends brother gave me a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop. He said he couldn't get windows to boot up, all it did was start to load and after a few seconds it would start running CHKDSK with a blue screen, but once it got to step 3 it would say it was complete, but wouldn't go any further or boot windows up.

So yesterday I decided to mess with it, and it did what he said it did. So I tried to booted it into SAFEMODE and it wouldn't. So I restarted it and pressed ESC and ran a Hard Drive Self Test and got an 07 FAIL. After that I restarted it, and all I got was a black screen then it made a loud BEEP sound fallowed by a REALLY LOUD BEEP, then it did nothing.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Answer:Beep, Beep thats all folks

Probably a bad harddrive.

Youd better hope they had their information backed up...

What you can try is hooking it up to another PC as slave and see if you can get any data off of it, but they will likely need a new harddrive and OS.

Answer:5 beep pause 2 beep

The beep sequence refers to the CMOS battery - or the clock chip. Replace the reserve (CMOS) battery -- it's usually a CR-2032 button cell. If you need details, post the model number (i.e., Inspiron N5110, XPS 9333, etc.).

Anyone know what it means if you get a long beep followed by two short beeps when you boot up? When this happens the screen is blank; it never continues booting; no Windows XP logo, etc. It continues beeping like this until I hold the power button down until it shuts down. Then, I can restart it, and it boots up, seeminly without issue. This happens when I reboot intentionally (after windows updates or new software installs, etc.) as well as after it periodically locks up. I suspect that the problem with it locking up is related to this--I don't consider a system lockup to EVER be acceptable, but I don't have time to get mad about it right now. This is a z61m.

Windows XP - recently installed a new CPU and PSU. 'is my TORNADO card damaged?' - Most likely as the other card works.BIOS checks that everything is working and if its not - Beeeep. What BIOS do you have, you can then check the beep codes too see what 8 beeps mean.

anyways, i was wondering if i can stop my computer from beeping when i start it up, it is really annoying... and help will be appreciated.

Answer:start-up beep

I have seen some BIOS setups where you can shut off the beep. Can't remember where, but it was a brand system. The other option is to disconnect your internal speaker. Personally I would leave it alone. If something goes wrong, BIOS beeps might give you information about your system's problem.

Hi All!

I'm trying to resurrect an old Optiplex 5166. Last time I "checked" in on it was over a year ago at work, and it had worked fine. Since we had to move out of offices, I got 2 of these back home. I took two add'l Memory Chips from the other and placed them in the remaining slots (4 total). Didn't start. Just beeps. I have since tried, and retried almost every combination of the slots, with 1, 2, 3, etc, and even differing positions. Each time, no luck.

The beep code appears to be 1-3-1-1 (I had thought it was 1-3-2, but there is no such thing, ha).

Any ideas on why I can't seem to seat these correctly?

Thx for any advice.

I have replaced the motherboard, graphics card, ram, cpu and source in my computer, but when i start it, it makes no sound, the reset button won't work and the screen stays like in offline mode, there is no image. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the screen nor the cable since they work on another computer. I have also tried removing the ram and again, there was no sound. Also tried removing one by one the graphics card, hard disk, cd drive, and the cmos battery and still nothing. What else can I do?

Answer:There's no beep and no image when i start the pc

Does the PSU start up - fan noises etc. HDD led lit or LEDs on motherboard? CPU fan spinning?
Best guess is you do not have the 4 pin plug connected to the motherboard to power the CPU.
Make and model of motherboard?

A few days ago I was plugging a peripheral into my usb hub and a warning box popped up on my screen and before my computer shut down I was able to see that the message had something to do with power.

Since that moment when I would try to start my computer i would get one beep, some of the POST information would show up then it would just go into a continous beep and the screen would go blank. I did a little research online and a few places I found mention of a failed power supply. This made a little sense to me since the computer in question is a HP with a 250W power supply and I have added a dvd-rw and about a month ago installed a dual monitor video card.

Instead of just swapping out the psu I got a good deal on an Antec case with 350W psu so I carefully transferred everything over but still get the same beeping issue. I tried to reseat the memory and that didn't help either.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is it the mobo maybe?

Acer Aspire 5315. Vista Home Basic. I know, this laptop is old but my daughter loves it. I need to get all her stuff off it. The deal is this: she has had to use two external fans for a couple of years, one behind and a cool fan on the bottom. When it got hot, it just stopped, which is what we all expect. Now, I can turn it on, get one beep, it boots up, continues one beep (those are short beeps). Everything boots up and I can click on what I want for awhile, still with the beeps, then it shuts down. I tried to see if I could find a list for this system but most of them are no help. What I think is happening is either the cmos battery is dead or the fan quit. I have a few batteries in my stuff and a few fans that may fit here, but I need to have some input before I take this one apart. Any ideas?

On startup while still loading BIOS I get this alarm sound. It is a contiuous alarm. No error messages, the Bios just stops loading and stays in one place.

It sounds like a hardware malfunction...
If you have two RAM modules installed try it with only one. Check this!

I?m not a notebook technician but the problem is maybe related by the mainboard, RAM or CPU but this is my personal opinion.

Well I gave up trying to fix the MB. Instaed I just bought a new MB from Ebay, it cost me $72 but was worth it. I installed the MB easily and it starts right up normally with just 1 quick beep, BIOS opens and everything is working except that I had to order a new E-recovery disk from Acer to install Windows 7 again but it's worth the $19 to have the original software from Acer for that particular PC. I always tell people to hold onto the system disks because you always will need it in the future but most people that bring in there PC's always lose it, lol. I have a Qosmio G10. It's worked fine up until recently. Now when I start it up, I hear a continuous beep. There is also no screen image.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Answer:Qosmio G10 - continuous beep on start up

I think there is a problem in the hardware configuration.
Did the laptop receive a shock recently?
The laptop beeps because the checks of the bios detected an anomaly.
What you can easily do is to check that at least the RAM is correctly inserted in its place. It happened to me once: I did not inserted correctly the additional RAM that I added, and the laptop beeped loudly!
If it does not solve the problem=> toshiba service.

I have a thinkpad T400. Couple of months ago the problem started. I could not shut it down it just keep re-booting. I had to press and hold the start button to shut it. Now it won't boot at all. It beeps 1-3-3-1 and just sits there. When I press start button all lights come ON for a while and after only battery , AC and Ready lights stay ON. Here are few things I did so far without any luck: 1. Removed battery and AC adaptor waited few minutes put it back - same problem2. Removed CMOS battery. DIMM cards waited for ten minutes replaced - same problem tried with swapping DIMM cards - when I put only one card on top slot it says put the card on zero "bottom" position. After placing the Mem card on the bottom slot no thing happens. It beeps again and sit. When I checked in the manual it says either DIMM or System board. I do not know which one is giving me the problem. I just do not want to replace all parts without knowing. Can any body help please or had similar issue and solutions if you managed to solve it. Appears to be working fine, less than a week old. I was expecting a beep on start up but I hear nothing (unless it's very quiet) Should I expect a beep code. Couldn't find anything regarding this in the manual. I have a S2316H monitor with built in speakers attached via the HDMI.
Any thoughts appreciated please. Thanks.

Answer:Inspiron 3650 does not beep on start up. Should it?

With newer versions of BIOS and UEFI, there's no one beep at POST, unless there's a problem. Now one beep at POST typically means: System Board: BIOS ROM failure.
A while back, Dell had a brand new model giving the "normal" one beep at POST, but users confused that one beep with the motherboard failure code one beep .
That led to a lot of motherboards being needlessly replaced under warranty. Dell subsequently suppressed the "normal" one beep at POST in a revision of BIOS, and spared the life of a lot of motherboards!

For some reason when I turn my PC on it wont turn on and I just get a constant beeping. If I change all the USB ports then it will boot up but what is causing this it really doesn't make any sense.

Any help appreciated.

Answer:Keep getting constant beep faults when I start my PC?

are you comfortable with opening up your case and poking about?

i would remove all ram sticks, give them and the ports they slot into a good clean with an old toothbrush, then reinsert them.

do the same for all your pci cards.

(while you're there, you may as well clean all fans you can see too - it's not the cause of your problem, but it's good maintenance.)

I don't find out which BIOS is and the signification of these beeps.

Answer:Tecra S1 does not start -> beep code appear

Hi Duditz,

Can you give me more information about your problem?

If you press the power button what happened exactly?
Can you see the Toshiba logo or immediately you get the beep code?
Did you test the seat of the RAM modules?

Hi,when I start my Laptop I get an very loud beep after "ThinkVantage Active Protections sensor diagnostc start" is ready. After that, the Windows system is starting. Is it possible to deactivate this beep signal? I have cheked the whole bios an did not findy a check box for this beep.pls help

IBM ThinkPad Z61m

Answer:Z61m beep loud on start?

The Active Protection sensor is only tested by an extended power on self test(POST). The extended POST also emits a beep when it finishes successfully.Enter BIOS Setup, select Startup, select Boot Mode and choose Quick instead of Diagnostics. Your machine will boot faster now and not beep unless something is wrong. The beep volume can be adjusted with the volume control buttons too.

Here's the issue: One day I was on my computer and it ran out of batteries and the screen went dark. So I plugged it in and turned it back on. It started booting--the icon showed up and it was loading and everything, but all of a sudden the picture got really weird and pixelated and it just froze. So I turned it off and gave it some time to charge. Then I tried to turn it back on--for about 3 seconds it starts making noises and looks like its going to start, but then all the lights turn off. About a second later, it starts up again, and makes the 1-3-3-1 beeping pattern. It remains on, with the battery and power lights on, but the screen doesn't show anything. I've tried booting it up several times now with that same result. IBM's website claims that the 1-3-3-1 pattern means there's something wrong with the DIMM or the System Board, but I have no idea what to do about either of those. The product number is 7417 20V. Thanks a lot for your help.

Answer:T400 Won't Start Up, Getting 1-3-3-1 Beep Pattern

usually what you are saying is related to ram, have you tried to reseat the ram or take one of the ram modules out (if you have 2 rams) then swap them around to find a faulty ram?

I have been having overheating problems so decided to fit an Aero 7 Lite heatsink and cooling fan to my Athlon 1.1ghz CPU. (self build computer, working fine for nearly 2 years)My computer was working this morning before I started this and now on boot up I get one continuous beep and then the computer shuts down. According to my motherboard info this means faulty, improperly installed or non existant CPU.I was careful not to touch any of the pins on the cpu and wore a wrist strap when I scraped of the old thermal goo with a plastic ruler and cleaned the chip face with isopropyl alcohol. I carefully replaced it in exactly the same way as I took it out (cut off corners to cut off corners).I then applied new thermal paste to the heatsink (exactly as it was described in the thermal paste instructions) and fitted it to the cpu. (had a bit of a job cause these fans are massive and I had to remove the power supply to get to the retaining clip. When I booted I got the beep (the fan was working fine though) and the machine shut down. I then repeated the whole process again from the beginning (just in case I had made an error) but once again the continuous beep.Does this mean that my CPU is now totally knackered???? How can I tell?? is there anything else that I should try??Most grateful for any advice

My problem is that my PC won’t start up. First, the monitor sets on (green light) but then immediately switches into power saving mode (no view at all), and meanwhile the PC boots up, runs for about 10 seconds, and then the internal speaker recites a beep code (once only). I’ve recorded it, so it can be heard at, I can’t really describe the beep as I can’t make out if there are pauses in it or not. The PC won’t show any image on the monitor when starting up, not at any point, the monitor just goes straight to power saving mode. My motherboard is Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, BIOS rev. 1016.

I have checked the monitor plugs, started the PC with only the power plug and monitor plug on, checked the RAM seats, checked the AGP graphics card seating, and all the other wiring, started the PC over and over again, I’ve booted it only with the essential parts plugged in… and nothing. Only once I have got the image in the monitor (When I plugged the CPU fan off and booted, and when I put it back in, it was back to no image, and this trick won’t work again, tried it), it showed the BIOS screen (Motherboard picture and BIOS version, not set-up BIOS), then it went through the normal checking the memory etc. and then got to the raid sata screen, showing some raid sata BIOS version 5.1.39 and got stuck there. I’ve got only one HD, Seagate Barracuda 160Gigs.

The PC w... Read more
