Psuedo freaking out, coloruservice.exe was preventing me from shutting down..

Question: Psuedo freaking out, coloruservice.exe was preventing me from shutting down..

Greetings. So, last night I was about to go to sleep and began to shut down my laptop, which is running on the latest version of Windows 8 and IIRC is an Asus G750, when I noticed something called Coloruservice was preventing me from shutting down. I cancelled the shutdown because of the paranoid person I am to see what it was and if it was harmful. As I was looking up what it was it popped up that Avast blocked a trojan that was originating from coloruservice.exe in some folder in x86, I immediately proceeded to run a Hardened Boot time scan using Avast free 2014 and supposedly nothing was found. I googled this for hours and couldn't find anything about it being that harmful, but I had never seen it before, and have never run it on my laptop, unless something else causes it to run. Does anyone know what's wrong? What do I do? I have classes in a few and i'm going to be going nuts until I can fix this.

Preferred Solution: Psuedo freaking out, coloruservice.exe was preventing me from shutting down..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Dyrstan and welcome to BleepingComputer!

My name is Sirawit and I'm here to help you.

Please note that I'm currently in training and my fixes need to be check for approval first, that may delay our fix a bit, but I will normally reply back in 24 hours.

If I don't reply after 2 days, feel free to PM me.
==========================================================================Some points for you to keep in mind:
Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planned. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability.
Please do not run any tools or take any steps other than those I will provide for you while we work on your computer together. I need to be certain about the state of your computer in order to provide appropriate and effective steps for you to take. Most often "well intentioned" (and usually panic driven!) independent efforts can make things much worse for both of us. If at any point you would prefer to take your own steps please let me know, I will not be offended. I would be happy to focus on the many others who are waiting in line for assistance.
Do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Periodically update me on the condition of your computer, and provide detail in every post.
In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see the  button. Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response.
If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it.
Once things seem to be working again, please do not abandon the thread. I will give an "all-clean" message at the very end with some additional information on how to stay malware-free.
Lastly, I would like to remind you that most members here are volunteers, and sometimes "real life" can get in the way of our malware hunt. I will notify you if I know I will need to be away for longer than 48 hours.

Hi, just switched from Win 7 to 10. I had initially added a Chinese keyboard setting for writing or reading Chinese (taking Chinese classes) and also a Chinese software. The software was uninstalled just prior to the update and the 2 keyboard things were removed after. Anyhow, that's it, I did nothing 'Chinese after that, and yet, when rebooting I got the above message, "this app (in Chinese characters) is preventing you from shutting''. How can this be? Where does it come from? Since my keyboard no longer has Chinese, actually doing a search for such a file will be impossible--besides the fact that I can't really read Chinese anyways. So how do I find such an app and get rid of it?

(BTW, unlike Win 7 now on boot I get HP Solution center loading as well and don't know what to disable since doing so may actually disable the printer.)

Assistance in writing pseudo code for "guessing game"

Hello. Today our professor asked us to think about writing psuedo code for a guessing game.

The guessing game is designed like this:

There are 50 numbers. You have to first store a number, then ask questions such as 'is your number above 25?' If no, then ask 'is your number below 15'?

Etc.

I haven't been programming in such a long time I'm a bit shadey on how I could go ago this.

I figured a loop in conjunction with an if statement would be good. But the delicacies of the if statement have me at a loss. I'm a bit rusty.

Could somebody take 5 minutes and write some pseudo code for me? Any additional information would be invaluable.

ps; this is in C, but the pseudocode is just logic. Any ideas would be helpful.

Ps: I started a little bit here, but I realized it wasn't going to work. I'm very tired and need to brainstorm and focus on this for a while; however any additional tips you guys could give would be invaluable.

What I made up real quick (it's not finished, as you can see the logic doesn't work. I'm going to take a nap, hah)

:

Pseudo Code for Guessing Game

1) ask first user to input number. store the number to guess in memory for the second person to guess. make variables "theNumber" "Above" "Below"

2) since there are 50 numbers to choose from, select the half way point, number 25. the first inquery is to ... Read more

I ran a hardware diagnostics on my pc and got this message "A driver problem was detected on device "Teredo Tunneling Psuedo-Interface"
I was given the options to restore original driver or reinstall. I have no idea what this is or what to do. I do know that my system is running very slow these days and alot of my videos will play audio in windows media player but the picture will not show up. I am lost and have no idea what to do. Please help..... Lost and confused

Answer:Teredo Tunneling Psuedo-Interface???

Teredo Tunneling Psuedo-Interface is used for Homegroup and TCP/IP v6 which is part of Windows. Which is normal in Windows Vista through Windows 8.

Which format are the videos in? Windows Media Player does not support all video formats only the common ones. Windows Media Player might support the audio portion of the video because the audio side would be a different format like mp3. To find out the format of the video right click on each on then select properties then select "Details" scroll down look for "File" the name of the video format will be listed after the file name E.X. Filename.mp4

Download and install VLC Player which supports many video formats more than Windows Media Player.

Psuedo-Scientific study of longevity of CD-R data:

I have a stack of 50+ CD-R disks that I filled with data during my undergraduate years, so most of the disks are going to be 11 years old plus or minus 2 years. I'm currently attempting to copy the burned disks back to my hard drive by simple drag and drop copying within Windows 7. I'm using an HP dvd640 drive to read the disks. I do not remember with which burner various disks were burned with, and that may influence results somewhat.. I know that the disks were burned with at least 2 burners, the first was a old DVD drive with CD burning capabilities, it came with an HP tower that I bought in 1998. The other drives were a Philips 4x cd burner and a Pacific Digital 8x. However, I do not know which drives burned which disks, so since I don't have that data I'm only focusing on the success rate of reading all the files burned to particular branded CD-R media.

So far the results are: (brands listed with as much information as is given on their label)

Because of the way this board handles spaces, I can't make it look nice. So the results are going to be presented as:
Disks Successfully Read / Disks Attempted / Notes

Staples 700MB CD-R 15 / 15 / ~300KB/Sec read rate on some
Unbranded no label 8 / 8 / Appear with data on them, but none in explorer
PNY 700MB 16x 0 / 1 / Tiny star like blemishes on bottom
HP 52x CD-R 1 / 1 /~300KB/Sec read
Imation 650MB 8 / 8
Prime... Read more

Answer:Psuedo-scientific study of CD-R data longevity:

I have also hundreds of burned CD/DVD's, some of it are pre-Windows 95 and still readable.. I've observed that when stacked horizontally /edit- not vertically/, the ones at the bottom are the first to be non-readable. Those with cases lasts longer. So when I put then on a sleeved bag that fits about 40 or 80 CD's, they are oriented vertically, like books on a library.

My computer is an XP home edition I believe, and it asked me to install some important updated. After doing so, it told me that I needed to restart or shut down my system in order for the updates to take place. When I tired doing so, It gets stuck. I get to a blue "log-off" screen, and it says 6 out of 14 updates are being installed... do not turn off your computer. But it stays like that for hours, and never updates, so I end up having to shut off my computer by hitting the power button. :/

I tried doing a system restore, but those updates have to be installed first. Before it even tries to restore, it deals with the updates. I'm not too sure what to do. Is there any way to bypass these updates, or get them installed some other way? I'd really apriciate the help. Thanks.

Answer:Updates for my computer are preventing me from shutting down my computer

Is this a new system? When you go to updates have you validated your copy of XP with Microsoft? Once you do that and make sure your settings are correct in your browser for downloads it does take time but not hours. Are you running firewalls, Zone Alarm etc., anything that would block the updates? Jazz

Hey Guys,

I am trying to setup a single sign on type configuration for some engineer's new test stand. The way the stand has been configured for their use is that there is a "controller" PC that is domain connected and there are two other PC's that are connected
via a work group that are not domain attached. I am trying to setup a way for the user to log onto the domain connected "Controller" PC and then auto login to the other 2 PCs. Currently the users have to login into all 3 PCs and it is becoming quite
cumbersome. I know I can use task scheduler to lock or log off these PC's quite easily but the log on piece has got me stumped. I am trying to avoid having to connect the non-domain PCs to the domain as that would complicate the use of the stand. I was thinking
of trying to configure a true SSO server but I think the controller would have to be the server in order for that to work. I was also considering LDAP but I think that the PC's would have to be domain attached. Any ideas of a way to script this function?
I am running Windows 7 on all 3 PC's and 2008 server for the domain

Thanks

Hello All,

I have a Dell Pentium laptop running Windows 8.1

I am trying to use wordpress to fix some websites that have no arecords.

These are websites that are not assigned to a DNS.

I think there is a problem with a psuedo admin on this machine.

I have tried to configure the Hosts file but Windows 8.1 won't let me save over it.

Does anyone know of a better solution?

Thanks for taking your time to read my post!

Answer:Running laptop as admin but I think there is a psuedo admin

I also tried the net user command when I saw a system error 5 and I tried the active:yes command but that would not work either.

I am rambling....
probably because anxiety is hitting me.

Back in December of 2004, I joined here because I was told I could get help. A nice man named Kodo ran to my rescue and managed to restore many of my precious photos...
Well here we are in 2009 and I am crying my eyes out.
My back up discs were burnt about 4 months ago in a fire and bad bad bad me I never re backed them up.
Oddly enough, this morning I hooked up my external and was going to start the back up since my computer has been acting a bit odd as of late.
I called my step dad who is a software designer/developer at his work and he came over. Two hours later I have no photos, a red compact screen, my configured outlook is gone, and no XP main user page to choose from
I even TOLD him to stop and I would find a way to get online and ask here before he continued, but he didnt.
He has been at this for years, and he is excellent at what he does, but somehow I ended up missing my photos. I suspect he did a system restore but I know the screen said that all data files would not be lost. Why on EARTH would he do that.
cutting to the chase....too late i know
The problems started in the XP main user page. I chose my user name, typed in my password, it quickly flashed to the desktop and then back to my user name saying logging off, then it ended up back to the main XP user page. I thought maybe there was something in the run menu telling it to log off insteaf of on. I told him this, he started in safe mode an... Read more

Two days ago, as i was working on a project for work, i started my computer and when i've tried to access my datas all folders where there....but empty....
Thanks to Testdisk i've retrieve every single workfiles i needed and made a backup of them on my external drive.

I've tried as many disk tests possible, using Windows, Tuneup etc etc...
None of them talks about problem....

So if someone knows what it could be please help it's like something really important to me, i absolutely need him (it lol) to work as soon as possible

Ok I have been having problems with very slow opening programs and folders, I have had alot of good advice and help on here, thank you very much. It is still running slower than normal but better, I clocked the times on a stop watch it was taking between 45 to 90 seconds to open My Documents, now it opens in around 15 to 20 seconds, the thing is just a few minutes ago I clicked and BOOM it instantly opened, just like it used to,I was stunned, so I went on an opening spree, everything opened instantly, man I was a happy camper, then quick as it started working right, it started opening slow again, BUMMER for sure man. I am at a total loss. Just thought I would share that with you all. Again thanks for all the help and advise. I am going to try Westren Digitals site and see if they can help, maybe its my hard drive, if not, maybe formatting my hard drive is my only option. Any other ideas before I do the dirty deed?

Hi, I am wondering if I am freaking out over nothing.

I, at the time I was thinking I got infected, had windows defender, spysweeper (disabled, yes, it was purchased, it just disabled), and AVG, while using firefox. I thought I was infected through a drive-by download, and am now freaking out about rootkits and how impossible they were to detect/remove, even if changing hard drive, etc.(the more I read, the scarier everything got)

Then I just now read a post on another forum, where a guy said that he had NEVER heard of a drive-by infection while using firefox? Is this true? If so, then... I don't think I have anything to worry about, because I NEVER download weird files.

I also forgot to mention that I have noscript in addition to firefox, so no java or javascript problems there.

I got a few trojans yesterday after scanning my computer.I scanned and removed them with bitdefender,(used to have it but uninstalled it and git Norton instead)norton internet security 2012, malwarebytes, and superantispyware, and my system looked clean, but now when i search a website on Google, and i click on a link, it takes me to some advertisement type website. For example, i looked up this forum, and when i clicked on the link it took me to yellow pages instead??? I looked up my problem up and looks like I still have malware. The only steps I have taken so far is scan my system with Norton IS2012 , malearebytes, and superantispyware, and they all gave me clean results so it seems like they can't detect the malware... So I don't know what to do now.. :'( please help!

Remove all IE toolbars then check your proxy settings

IE. Tools/Internet Options/Connections (tab)/Lan Settings (make sure you're proxy server is unchecked)

Then check your hosts file: C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (open with notepad)
*feel free to copy/paste the contents of your hosts file if you notice something strange.

Hello everyone from BC, Canada!
I have just recently relocated right across Canada, to find out my comp wasn't working too good! A friend of a friend...hmm, said he would look at it and let me know. Well...he completely disable all the users in the administrative tools, and couldnt enable them again. He rebooted the comp, wherein my screen was all blue, with no password box or anything. I finally figured out to do the Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get my logon, but now, I have no access to "LOTS" on my comp, I can't even download, or remove anything, I can even look at files in windows. How can I get my comp back to the regular logon, and the freedom to enjoy it!
Thanks so much all,

Alice

go into user accounts and click on 'change the way users logon or off'. then check the boxes 'use the welcome screen' and 'use fast user switching'. if this dont work u may need to boot into safe mode and try it under the admin account. when done turn off and or delete all other accounts but yours. if the prob is the same as i have had before this will work for u, if not i am sorry.

Answer:Please Help Me Im Freaking Out!

To solve the redirection problem first you may want to use Google DNS; your DNS entries may be poisoned.http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/After you follow the instructions above, flush your DNS cache:For Mac OS X:Go to Terminal and type:*10.6 and later: dscacheutil -flushcache10.5.2 - 10.5.8: dscacheutil -flushcache10.5.1 and earlier: lookupd -flushcacheFor Windows:Go to Command Prompt and type in ipconfig /flushdnsIf facebook.com is redirecting to that suspicious page... you may have a virus.http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?board=7.0

Im not sure if its the neighbor pranking, but I dont see this network "Trojan Virus Detected" available on my IPOD wifi (see attachment) only on my computer's network adapter. Also when I uncheck the "automatically connec"t from the internet access, it checks itself back. Not sure if that was normal. I have AVG and scan my system regularly, so I doubt this is a virus but I can never be too careful right? :\

A few weeks ago after one of the DP update my 822 worked ok for a few hours and then all of a sudden is basically broke...touchscreen wouldn't work time would be all messed up and sometimes phone would connect to networks and sometimes not when I was having these issues phone would never ring. After trying all sorts of resets I resorted to nokia reset which sucked because I had to then download all the updates and then the DP updates as well to get back to normal. Things have been fine...until this morning. I swiped to go to list of apps and selected A to get the alpha list to come up and phone froze. Now ever since then its been completely screwed again. sometimes the date/time are correct and sometimes note...sometimes it shows me connected to network and sometimes note...sometimes the power button works and sometimes it doesn't...can't get any calls but will sometimes get email alerts but can't access the emails. I've tried pulling battery a dozen times probably and like I said sometimes it sort of works and other times not at all...sometimes if I leave it alone for a long time it will work a bit and then sometimes when its in frozen state it will just restart itself.
I am on VZ and due for new phone but holding out for something new as what they have out now is old and crappy.
Has anyone else had any issues like this...please help....

Answer:Why is my 822 freaking out again?

Just to provide an update...phone was shot almost all day yesterday then I took the battery out for well at least an hour and later on at night plugged it in and put battery back in and it booted up and was fine...worked fine last night and then fine early this morning. was waiting for train this morning listening to FM radio when started acting up again at almost the same exact time as yesterday. Not sure if somehow its the cold weather but first time this happened a few weeks ago weather was much warmer. So again I took battery out and left it out for at least 30min and when got to work...plugged it in and put battery back in and the phone has been fine ever since.

I got my laptop yesterday and yesterday the touch screen started acting like I was constantly poking the left side of the screen when I wasn't anywhere near it. It prevents me from clicking anything cause it pulls the cursor over to the spot that I'd malfunctioning. Today it is doing the same thing. It's incredibly frustrating and I'm hoping there is a quick fix.Thanks.

I got my Toshiba 500GB drive back the other day from RMA with a new drive. I put it into my hot swap bay and booted and seen it had my data on it still. I then realized later that I had an imaged drive installed of the RMA drive. Then realized I need to restore it to my new drive. I forgot about it and early today my computer started freaking out. It was lagging horrible and eventual froze on a reboot. I had to hold the power button down to get it to turn off.

On reboot I decided to remove the two hard drives and have just my SSD by itself, and it booted quickly as normal. I decided to restore the image later and then I wanted to listed to some music, so I fired up iTunes and it crashed right when I was going to select a song, but couldn't.

I tried going to the song as it is on my home server and starting from there. I right-clicked and said to use iTunes and it fired up and started playing for a few seconds and then crashed again.

I tried repairing iTunes with no luck. I then uninstalled itunes, reboot and ran ccleaner, then rebooted and reinstalled iTunes thinking some config file got corrupt from forcing the power down. Still crashes.

I decide to run a virus scan and then my Norton's searches for updates, but won't download and install them.

My Chrome browser loses it toolbar when I navigate to any page. If I open a new window tab, then it comes back as it goes to the chrome home page. It doesn't appear to be a website, but ... Read more

Answer:computer freaking out

Not sure if this is malware related or an OS issue, but that URL sure looks suspicious.....let's do this:

Please download HijackThis http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Post the hijackthis.log file here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

I went down stairs to get something to eat, then as i came back up, in a notepad box something typed : " I A They They They They say follow the law They say follow "

Then just now something just typed

But that random string will just pop up, then automatically delete itself, or paste itself twice, then delete. It doesnt stay up longer than a second.

What is going on.

I own a nice Dell Dimension 4600 with Windows XP, and up until now it has always been a great reliable computer. However, lately it has been doing a lot of strange things to which I have absolutely no answer for! These things include:

*My computer always saying "Welcome to Windows XP" when I start the computer, as if I were logging on for the first time

*My Windows Media Player, every so often, when it starts will bring up the Welcome to Windows Media Player 10 screen and I will have to go through a few Next screens before I can go on

*My wallpaper background will sometimes randomly dissappear and revert back into basic blue for no apparent reason, at which point the right-click windows will thereafter change to grey and my set sound effects change to default.

*My icons will arrange themselves in random order on my desktop

*My Start button shortcuts that I had set dissappeared and will now have Windows Movie Maker, Windows Media Player, etc upon startup. After startup, those, too, will dissappear and will have no shortcuts at all.

I had also recently had a problem with a game constantly minimizing around every two minutes for no apparent reason, which seemed consistant with the rest of the problems. I did a scan for adware/spyware with Spyware Doctor and removed many adware/spyware programs which seems to have solved this problem, however, but it's just too soon to tell whether that is true or not. Originally, I had downloaded the program in hopes that it... Read more

I'm not sure if this goes in this section but bear with me... Over the last few days my touchpad has been FREAKING OUT. I've had issues with my touchpad pretty soon after I purchased (reaction really slow, having to press more firmly to get it to click etc) but it wasn't anything like this. I've even contacted support about the issue and through live chat they uninstalled and reinstalled some drivers a few months back. The issue still persisted.Well now the pointer is nonexistent on the screem most of the time and when it is, it doesn't want to move.  Sometimes when I can't see the pointer, my screen goes haywire where all kinds of programs and links are clicked, or it zooms in and out when I'm not even touching the touchpad. I can use the screen to select things but if I do it too much, it still goes crazy.I've disabled and enabled the touchpad, updated the driver, even reset it back to default settings and still can't figure out this issue. Could it be the hardware? I have plenty of virus and malware protection for my device so I don't think it's a virus (just finished a complete scan, no issues). I have searched through the forums and tried some of the "solutions" and it's still acting up.HELP! What is wrong with my device!?

Hi everyone...

since about 2 days I cannot get on the web anymore... every 5 or 10 seconds the little "a local area network cable has been unplugged" bubble comes up...
I have checked various cables, the router, isp connection, etc... all work fine with other computers ...
When starting the computer (IBM T43 laptop) in safe mode or ibm recovery mode, i have regular internet access ... just in regular startup mode it wont work...
I haven't changed anything in the configuration either that could've caused this ... I got the newest Intelligent update from symantec... but neither NAV, adaware, or spybot found anything...
I cannot find a solution to this anywhere ... does anyone have an idea?

I really need regular internet access ... it is really urgent...
Thank you so much =)

My uncle gave me this old ViewSonic ViewPanel VE170mb last year. I set it up in an attempt to save some desk room. For the first few weeks I had it, it was constantly flickering, brightening, dimming, just flipping out. Tried installing drivers, checked the refresh rate, adjusted both the monitor and the display settings... didn't seem to do anything. Then one day it randomly started working great, and it was fine for months!

My teenage brother (One of those stubborn kids who thinks he knows everything) recently unplugged it and replaced it with the old CRT display for a short while, and then plugged it back in. It started with it's flickering, eye burning brightening, dimming, etc etc yet again. Sometimes it'll work fine for a few hours, and then gradually get worse, or vise versa.

I tried reinstalling the drivers to no avail. Tried adjusting the settings, everything is as it should be, according to the manual. I also tried the traditional remedies... jiggling the cord in the back, turning it off and on repeatedly, shaking it violently, slapping it, cursing at it... and these have absolutely no effect on it.

It's obviously not a problem with my video card because any other monitor works just peachy. So I did a little research... maybe it's some kind of back light problem? I'd love to just go out and buy a new one and use this one for gun target practice, but I've been a bit short on that kind of cash lately... does anybody have any othe... Read more

First of all, you will need to print out this post and/or save a copy as a text file in Notepad; that way you have a hard copy of these instructions; you can not have IE/Firefox/any browser open during the fixPlease download Ewido Anti Malware, it is a free version of the program. Install ewido security suite When installing the program, under "Additonal Options" uncheck... Install background guard Install scan via context menu Launch ewido, there should now be an icon on your desktop, double-click it. The program will now open to the main screen. When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files: On the left hand side of the main screen click update. Then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful") Close Ewido If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.Ewido manual updatesPlease run HijackThis and click "Scan." Hi!!

The original computer system that I bought 4 months ago was the HP Pavilion P7-1010
The original Specs for that are located here:

Today! I bought the Radeon HD 6850 from here:

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_558&item_id=034447

And I also upgraded the power supply to the Corsair TX550M Power Supply!

Now... I installed everything into my computer which took a while.. cause It was more difficult then I thought it would be. So I ran the power supply first and the computer seemed fine. Nice and cool! Then I had a difficult time installing the graphic card...I feel like theirs not enough space in the computer for all of it... but somehow it all fitted in! I turned on the computer and the fan was rly loud.... So then I tried switching the VGA plugin to the second one (cause theirs two places to plug the display cable into the graphic card) and it runs fine! Its quiet and doesn't even make a sound. The issue I have is that I'm scared that its gonna OVERHEAT or something... I checked the my temperatures for my PC and the average temperature is 32 for CPU and the graphic card is at 41 C right now.. One of the things that freaked me out...was when I was updating my windows experience calculation. The temperature for the graphic card raised to almost 60 C I'm not sure if thats normal or not... But my questions is if someone can c... Read more

A lot of the time it will be 0 then 30% then 88% then 100% and just keep on doing that pattern and it is really ****ing me off. I will be doing that if I am not even doing anything. PLZ help.

Answer:My computer is always freaking out.

And yet you give no list of processes, no hijackthis log, no screenshot of taskmanager, no description of your computer specifications, operating system, programs you have installed/running and what you use it for.

Ya, we can really help you with the information youve given.....

http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-TEW-423PI-54Mbps-Wireless-Adapter/dp/B0001DHHIY

I am using this wireless adapter (this is a desktop), and I cannot get it to connect. I just re-installed Vista, and tried to connect it, and it wouldn't with the password or anything. it just freaking won't work. I have tried everything. I have manually reset the router and modem, removed all passwords, set it to DHCP fully (I THINK!!!), done freaking everything.

I am using XP with the wired connection right now. I don't know how to freaking connect, and my other PC is connecting with a wireless connection (Linksys USB adapter), and I don't know how.

Using a WRT54GS v.4

EVERYTHING WAS FINE BEFORE I RE-INSTALLED VISTA.

Answer:Can't Freaking Connect

Sounds to me EXACTLY like a driver issue. When you re-installed Vista- you lost the driver that worked.

Take note of the model number (I'd double check)- go download the latest from the manufacturer's website.

Ok, I am like clueless when it comes to viruses and such. I kept on getting this IE pop-up telling me there was a risk of the bloodhound virus, and to download Winantivirus. It really looked as if it was safe... I kept on exiting it, but it would continue to pop up. Then I figured I must need it, so I downloaded a free version and my computer started to go nuts, and Norton kept on detecting a virus, which now I know this was. My brother removed the program, and I removed any files I could find on the computer while searching. What do I do now??? Do I still have things on my computer, will I get charged even though it's "free". (i havn't given out ANY information, and I never even registered the product) Thanks for ANY help!

Edited to add: Norton JUST found and removed Adware. And also, all of this has happened within just a few hours. (if that makes a difference?)

Answer:Ok, I'm freaking out! Winantivirus!

Ok so, what has been happening the last couple months or so, my monitor has been randomly.. resetting itself, I guess you could say. Like I'll hear a little click/flicker sound, and the screen will zoom in (so I can't see the edges of the screen) and go kinda dark (not black), and then it'll slowly zoom back out to normal while getting lighter (again, to normal)

I got the latest video card drivers (I have a geforce mx 4000) and after searching I found the latest Monitor drivers (the latest being from 2002, it must be pretty old)

Now this had only been happening once in a while, but for the last day or so it's been happening MUCH more often. For example, it did it like 6-8 times while I was typing this message.

So, is this something I can fix, or does this mean my monitor is just too old?

Edit: Oh and I forgot to mention, I've tried fiddling with lower resolutions and refresh rates but that didn't help any. Although I've noticed higher refresh rates increase the time it takes for it to zoom back out / lighten up...

Answer:my monitor is FREAKING OUT.

This is a PC , right ?
what make and model of monitor ? there should be buttond on the front or a door with a hidden console of buttons, That you can configure the monitor. I have never heard of that happening before. Monitors do have some logic on them now.

So I'm not even entirely sure how to describe this. I've had a bunch of problems about a week after I got my new computer, when typing text goes to the front of the sentence and sometimes the screen will automatically scroll to the top, it also automatically picks generated answers to stuff I'm typing, no idea what to do. This makes typing and even using the computer nearly impossible, I've had to use another device to type this.

I have a computer (PC) that has two hard drives, a 60gig and a 120gig. I have been running Adobe Premiere and am editing a documentary.

All has been running great for the past couple of months. Now, all of a sudden, the AVI files won't play back at the correct speed. They are skipping frames as they play.

I have tested the software, that's fine. The AVI files are on the 120-gig drive, which is set up to be the slave drive, and the software is on the 60-gig, the master. If I transfer a few of the files to the master drive, they seem to play fine.

I just ran full diagnostics on both drives and they came up fine.

I cannot figure it out.

Could it be the memory? If so, how can I test that?

Somebody, please help me with this. I have a deadline for completion of this film in 6 weeks! This is my life work.

Thanks,
Lola

This sucker is worse that Michael Myers in the Halloween series.

I need some help / advice to rid myself of the remnants of this piece of [email protected]*t DeepFreeze that are left on my machine <Windoze XP>. I need to move forward!!

Dumb me - DLed Deep_Freeze_62587.exe and without a lot of study, went ahead and installed it - BIGGG mistake. <Hey - sounded like a kool app.> Did not actually use it - just clicked it once to extract or whatever it does.

So - noticed 2 very peculiar things after a reboot. 1 - Stuff I had just installed was not only not on the machine, neither were their associated DL files. 2 - Noticed that stuff I had deleted from my machine was back. Now over the years, I have dealt with some heady stuff, but this was perplexing. Tardy, I did my due-diligence and discovered the dark side of this program. Reviewed dozens of sites, including Faronics, and scores of posts.

1 - Follow the instructions from Faronics as to un-installing their POS. After requisite reboot, on my Desktop there was their st00pid frozen pig icon. Also their main sys proggy deepfrz.sys was still there. Registry had ~ 6 innocuous entries. The rest including their uninstaller were gone.

2 - In regular windows, right click both files Delete, reboot, still there.

3 - In regular windows, send both files to Recycle & Empty, reboot, still there.

4 - Regular windows, right click both files Unlocker, reboot, still there.

5 - In regular windows, run both files thru Heid... Read more

Answer:Freaking DeepFreeze will NOT die

Sorry about this but Deep Freeze is not considered malware and nothing we do here will remove this. It need to be properly put into Thawed Mode and uninstalled. Their instructions should explain how to do this and it requires a password. If you hacked around trying to remove it manually before trying a proper uninstall, I do not know what the effects would be. You need to talk to Faronics. I also recommend you look at some of the questions and answers in the below link which may be helpful.

Hello everyone!

I'll be the first to tell you that I have no idea what I'm talking about, but here goes.

I dropped my laptop a couple of weeks ago (the strap of my backpack broke) and it landed on the wireless card I had sticking out (yes, I KNOW I should ALWAYS take it out before walking around with it, but this is the ONE time I didn't and see what happened?)

Anyway, so I no longer had wireless access, I had to plug directly into the thingie that the other computers were plugged into so that we could all have internet at the same time.

So, my husband took my computer to a guy (The Laptop Guy) that supposedly specializes in upgrading laptops, repairs, etc. I told him (The Laptop Guy and yes, that's the name of this store) that I wanted to know of the port that held my wireless card could be repaired (it couldn't so now I have one that goes off of my USB, which I wish I had known exsisted before I took my computer to this place). I also wanted pricing for more memory (an upgrade?) and have him blow all of the dust out of the computer while he was in there AND back up all of my stuff (photos, Quicken, email, etc).

So, some tech guy calls two days later and says my OS is "shot" and I need a new one. I have no idea what this means, but my husband told them to go ahead and fix it. After he hung up, I asked about the other stuff. Husband said "Oh, he didn't mention it, I'll call them tomorrow". So, he did.... Read more

Answer:Computer ***** Freaking here

First off what a read! lol very suspensful

Well if they were backing things up to dvd, that is a good thing. They could easily fit your Pictures Quicken files (not the program itself) and emails on to dvd. But in their defense..you said to go ahead to re format (the OS) which means (unless you back up) the PC will look like it is ibrand new (no files, programs etc)

Lets just hope that they backed up the right things on that DVD

Sean

BTW-i too am confused why you needed to reformat the OS in the first place..i guess the OS got corruption...

Question: Freaking sad story

Hi guys, I have a problem.

About 3 weeks ago, I decided to get some new computer parts from my first salary. I came home, took my old computer (well, my parents paid it but I was the main user (IT study)), and decided to get out all the components to put in the new ones. The problem is, the older computer was a Medion computer bought at the Aldi, and they have the annoying habit to make every pc part fit to each other. For example, I bought a new SLI v2 motherboard, but it wouldn't fit in the older case, and not because the case is too small but simply because they put in a little metal beam in the case to make sure you won't replace any parts and just keep buying their pc's.

I realised the motherboard didn't fit in so I'd have to wait for an opportunity to get a nice new case. Meanwhile, I assembled the older pc again so my sisters/mother could use it again. It didn't work, everytime I pressed the power button a strange sound would come out, indicating that something was wrong with the harddisk (I found out later). I thought I didn't connect the IDE cables properly, and since I don't know much of IDE (I am used to SATA) I decided to wait for my brother, hoping that he would know what to do. My brother didn't know what to do either so, my dad and me tried to connect the harddisk to the power supply of our older/other pc (worked, you could hear it reading/writing). However, it didn't show any sign of life when it was connected to the power supply of the original pc, so y... Read more

I am running combofix right now. I followed the instructions at the top of the forum and downloaded the program. WHen it ran it said there was a new version so I updated the app and now it's running. It's been going for about an hour and now i'm worried I haev the screwed up version. I got past the "Preparing log report" screen but now I have a blank screen except for an hour glass.

Please assure me wouldn't have downloaded the screwed up version.

Thank you,
Chris
EDIT: I should note this is today I did this.

Answer:Combofix freaking out

Just an update - it is still running after 2 hours. I'm really starting to get scared. At one point after about 20 minutes it asked me to reboot which I did. It then started up again and appeared to log me out as I had to click my user name to get back in. Now it's still at a blank screen with the hour glass. Is this normal?

I'm so scared I just destroyed my parents computer.

Thank you,

I added my Toshiba hard drive after an RMA and a few days later my system just started bogging down really bad. After a couple reboots iot just would freeze up. I then removed the hard drive completely and it sped right back up.

Now everything is freaking out.

I try to run iTunes and it starts up, but before I can select a song it reports iTunes has stopped working. But no other error messages.

I tried uninstalling iTunes and rebooting to run ccleaner to clean out any config files left behind, but I still get the same error message.

I then bring up Norton's for a scan and select liveupdate to make sure everything is up to date, but it won't download the update and errors out. It will scan though and reports nothing is wrong.

I have malwarebytes and it reports nothing as well.

I went through the Malware guide here and here are my logs and hopefully someone can give me a clue as to what's going on with my system.

Also, my chrome browser loses the toolbar, except for the main Google home page. Once I leave that page the toolbar vanishes.

Thanks

Welcome to Bleeping Computer! It is not a good idea to use HighJack This to delete ANYTHING unless you have been trained extensively in it's use. Is there something we might be able to help you with here, or do you just want to post a log?Let us know! Here are the posting instructions:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~First: Read the Preparation Guide found HERE. It is very important that you follow ALL of the instructions found within. Please close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of SDFix and make sure you are disconnected from the Internet after downloading the program but before extracting the files.
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with SDFix and remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
Remember to re-enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the Internet.
Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter
Choose your usual account.

Question: Freaking virus

Virus disables Wireless, USB, Device manager and prevents from restarting, turning off and getting into standby.

Original Title: Can't get rid of this f****** virus. It disables Wireless, USB, Device manager and prevents from restarting, turning off and getting into standby.

at first I thought it was the virus goingonearth.com, but it simply keeps coming back and disabling my wireless drivers, it also disables the Device manager functionality, it prevents me from restarting, turning off, or getting the computer in standby mode. It prevents me from using the USB.

It's so annoying, I don't know what to do, I've used every single option I could:
Combofix
DelPsGuard
SpyBot Search and destroy
Malware Bytes antimalware (Pro edition)
Super Antispyware
CC Cleaner
hijackthis
Bitdefender professional 2013

Now I'm trying to install the security update KB2686509, and I can't, I'm getting this error in the log file:

4.844: Update.exe extended error code = 0xf0f4
4.844: Update.exe return code was masked to 0x643 for MSI custom action compliance.

I suspect it has something to do with this malware problem.

This is my text from support forum, they told me to come here in answers community and ask:

While playing Call of Duty online today, everything was choppy for some reason. People would run, and they would basically skip steps, if you know what I mean. I know it's not trying to run the game on settings that are too high, because I play on the same settings all the time and everything is fine. Also, I have a fast internet connection, with a ping usually around 50, so I don't think that's it either. Does anyone have a clue what could be causing the choppiness?

Answer:Freaking frustrating

Perhaps the server in which you were playing in was experiencing some problems?

Ok so whenever I start my computer and get to my main desktop screen, a TON of windows open up very quickly. Folders: Desktop, My Documents, Start Menu, Favorites, WINDOWS, and Incomplete all open up. In addition to these, I get about 12 other little windows that open up, all talking about something similar.

These little windows say --

Windows cannot open this file:
File: ntuser.dat_BAK_94409 (this number varies through all of them)

Apart from these BAK things, I also get two more windows with the same message as above, but different files. One asks for SI.bin while the other asks for ntuser.dat.

Can someone PLEASE help me out here?

It's a brand new HP computer WIndows 7 OS. It started out fine and I installed Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Ad-Aware on there. I restarted it, goes to the startup where it says "Starting Windows" with the icon and after that it just goes blank then after 20 seconds when I move the mouse the brightness of the screen dims and it just restarts again automatically.

I started in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, the other Safe mode, and Start Windows normally but NOTHING!!! It does the same thing!

Then I press ESC when it starts and brings me to the startup menu. The options are:

F1 System Information (nothing useful, checked)
F2 System Diagnostics (currently doing a "Start-Up" test)
F9 Boot Device Options (tried booting from hardware and CD/DVD, still nothing)
F10 BIOS Setup (not sure what to do here)
F11 System Recovery (brought me to which safe mode I wanted, but no avail)

Please help me!!!!!!!! I am really freaking out right now and have been frustrated for the past 3 hours. I've been doing a lot of searching and nothing!!!! HELP!!!!

Ok so I have 2 temp monitoring programs and they both say that my mobo is at 84-85c......also says that in my bios (even after off all night and fresh boot). All other temps are fine but I think it is the cause of my game crashes. I only have 2 fans (not including cpu fan) but this is just recently becoming a problem. I tried opening my case and pointing a house fan at high right onto the mobo and even this does not lower the temp....what should I do?

Answer:MOBO temp is freaking me out!!

Welcome to TF!

What programs are you using??

Are you sure that is your motherboard, or CPU?

First of all, I am curious what the difference is between the 2 CPU readings as one is nice and cool while the other is ridiculously hot.

I am using a Core I7 processor with the heatsink and fan that it comes with. How is it running this hot? I just re-seated it and cleaned all of the dust out without any luck.

Note that these readings are when the CPU is fully loaded, not idling. I used speedfan to make all of my CPU related fans always on max as well which also changed nothing.

Is there anything I can do other than buying some watercooling system or new components?

Hi, I have a Lenovo L520.Recently my mouse got really annoying. It is like that it is pressed down all the time. So I can't click anything. I really haven't tried anything to fix it. But I hope some of you guys perhaps could help me!Thanks

Answer:Laptop mouse freaking out

Hi there! Is your mouse attached to the usb port with a cable or is it wireless?

Try changing usb port first. If this does not solve it, check the mouse with another pc to see if it has the same behavior. Finally connect another mouse to your laptop. Report back here with results, I suppose these simple tests will show us which has the problem, the laptop or the mouse.

What should I do, I think its my modem, but my parents are pissed and won't buy me anything that has to do with a computer. so is there anyway I can get my 3meg cable connection to the proper speed without using money??? I need stuff for cable connection and charter is bsing around.

please help internet is my life, and plus im not getting what im paying for

Have you tried other speed tests? Al do you have a guaranteed 1.5 or up to 1.5MB download? Cable bandwidth is shared so there could be a lot of different things.

If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.

I've got an older (about 6 years) HP Pavillion PC that was running Win7 Ultimate. It has an Intel processor but I can't access anything to tell you anymore specifics. I did the Win10 install and it all went fine until the install was done. Now the desktop just flashes back and forth kinda fast showing just the wallpaper then wallpaper with icons back and forth. The only way this stops is if I do Ctrl+Alt+Delete which brings up the menu on the right which is no help. Sometimes if I right click while it's "flashing" it stops but as soon as I hit any key or click on anything it goes back to "flashing". The whole time the flashing is going on the cursor has the little "wait" arrow circling. I've tried just waiting it out and it doesn't change and I've tried restarting it but no change. Also in order to restart or shut down I have to hold the power button in on the CPU to do that. What do I do now? If I can get my PC to work properly with Win10 great but at this point screw Win10, I want Win7 back! Help!

Answer:PC is freaking out since Win10 install! Help!

You might be able to get Win7 back using the Win10 feature to go back to the previous OS. But be advised that often does not work and the best course of action would have been to make an image backup before the upgrade. If you can't get the reset to work, then you will have to order Recovery Media from HP. They will charge you for it, and when you get it, it will consist of some DVDs and a CD. When you run those, they will erase your drive, reformat it, and reinstall the original Windows versions that came with the HP. All the data, settings, and non-HP applications you had on there will be lost.

Okay, here's the deal.

I've been trying to get a tech job for about 4 months. Many of these positions have what they call a 'supplemental application'. This is basically a list of technical questions ("what would you do to fix..." or "describe your experience with...").

Does anyone have any thoughts on these things? Do I need to be eloquent and refined (most tech guys I know definatly are NOT gifted writers). Or can I just give basic technical answers? I just feel like my sucess could hinge on wording every sentance 'just right'....

Check these questions out, for example. Notice how they are all just copied and pasted, just replacing a few key words. I am so sick of essay questions!!!!!

2. General Knowledge (70 Points):

(a) Describe your experience working in a centralized networked Help Desk support environment. Please give specific examples of work performed. Be sure to include specific information about the size of environment, number of daily calls and your responsibility in receiving, closing, and escalation of those calls. (i.e. # of users, # of PC's, # of servers, # of applications supported, # of sites, etc.).
(b) Describe your experience and knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems in a networked environment. Please include experience with installation, configuring and problem resolution. Be sure to include specific information about the versions and types of operating systems, size of environment,... Read more

Answer:advice with FREAKING supplementals!!

(aside from proper grammar and spelling, i don't think you need to respond in a formal essay format. they are most likely interested in getting a good overview of your experience.

i would suggest breaking the questions apart into manageable parts and 'copying' and 'pasting' the questions and responding to each part of the question.

what have you done in the past? did you receive any feedback?)

i was running audigy gamer on win xp pro and it randomly locked up no matter what i was doing. i got fed up after downloading their latest drivers, and tweaking this and that, so i bought the audigy 2. that solved my problem as far as the lock ups and crashes, but now i can't hear my rear speakers no matter what i play. i have the klipsch 4.1. i have tweaked, used this sites tweak guide to no avail. i still hear nothing from the rear speakers. funniest of all, the rear speakers will test, hear them just fine in the test just no where else. what gives? i've also downloaded every driver known to man. need help.

system info:
xp 2100+
gigabyte 7vax mb
1.0 gb ram
aiw 9700 pro
window xp pro
120 gb hd
samsung 16x dvd
sony 40x burner

Answer:Freaking soundblaster Audigy

i think that the way the audigy2 drivers are, they won't output a stereo source (such as mp3s) to the rear speakers and will output only to 2 front speakers. it will still play 5.1 or 4 speaker surround audio sources (i.e. games), however. i had your same reaction when i first used the audigy2. i think you can go check on the cmss 3d box on the eax advanced hd control panel so sound will output on all of your speakers but it will also upmix you audio source. i don't know if you like the soundcard upmixing your sources. i have some altec lansing 641 speakers so i just have to press the stereox2 function on my remote to have 4.1 sound. laters
