Preferred Solution: whrs my yahoo toolbar dude!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: whrs my yahoo toolbar dude!!

on the same line as where it says file, edit etc, you should be able to right click and see the toolbar you want and activate it

It was working fine yesterday then I got home from work last night and the tool bar doesn't load it says "Error loading toolbar buttons. Click here to retry". On my Yahoo Homepage I'm logged in cause it says my name and shows how many emails I have to read but I click and it has me put in my password as it does sometimes but this time I type in my password and it says it's incorrect even though it's not and I checked for caps lock and that wasn't on. I tried to do the forgot password thing and that didn't work either it was saying that the security password I typed in was wrong every time too. I deleted cookies and temp internet files and that did nothing. Is it something wrong with Yahoo or something wrong with my comp? Cause I can login to every other site fine it's just Yahoo.

Answer:problems w/ Yahoo toolbar and Yahoo Mail

new development...so it's just something totally wrong with my account I think...cause well it brought me to Yahoo Espanol at one point...so I signed out and now i'm just completely signed out can't even see the number of emails anymore. So I went down to my dad's comp and it didn't work there either. I came back up here and created a new email address and that works fine...toolbar loads and I can get into Yahoo Mail....so how do I find out what's going on with my account??! Cause Yahoo Help really isn't helpful at all.

I'm having a problem trying to install Yahoo! anti-spyware. I found a Yahoo! internet link which said that to install Yahoo! anti-spyware that the Yahoo! toolbar needed to be installed first and that once it was a shield app would appear in the toolbar which needed to be clicked on to start the download for anti-spyware.

I've downloaded the toolbar, I think that it's the 8.3 version, it's the latest one, but there is no shield app anywhere for anti-spyware. I've tried scrolling through all the available apps that can be added but cannot find one.

Can anyone assist me with this?

Question: Yahoo Toolbar

I share my computer with my son and we both have Yahoo accounts and use the Yahoo toolbar. The problem I'm having is that every time I log on to the Internet, the Yahoo toolbar goes right to my son's account which means his E-mail and everything else. Under his log-in page he doesn't have checked to remember his name on this computer. On the other hand, if I close the browser window, when I go back to IE I have to sign back into the Yahoo toolbar every time. The only thing I can think of is that he uses Trillion messenger which includes Yahoo messenger, but I have no idea how to fix this minor, but annoying problem. Any advice much appreciated.

Answer:Yahoo Toolbar

If Trillion uses Yahoo messenger and he has not picked for messenger to remember him then you probably need to change the user preferences in the Trillion program. Check this Trillion support page if you need help:

Without my permission, Yahoo toolbar appears in IE7 (I run XP pro SP3)

It can be disabled and locked away, but I will not stand for software installing itself without my permission, so I want to remove it once and for all. None of the older posts seem relevant any more - for instance there is no 'pencil' near the yahoo toolbar. It does not appear in the systems add and remove list. IE7 Manage add-ons in IE7 allows me to disable the Yahoo toolbar and toolbar helper, but not uninstall them.

On C:\program files\ I have a subdirectory 'Yahoo!' with a sub-sub directory 'Companion', and Yahoo also appears in many places of my registry.

I am pretty sure if I simply deleted all the registry entries and the files in c:\program files\yahoo it would be effective, but I want a more official method, so that when the d**m thing reappears - as I am sure it will - I can get rid in a click or two.

Answer:Getting rid of Yahoo toolbar

I had a Yahoo toolbar appear on my IE once, oversight on an install I neglected to 'uncheck' I was able to go to 'add and remove programs' in the Control Panel and simply remove it.

The toolbar no longer loads when opening up internet explorer and Firefox, but I have noticed that when I right click on links, the menu that pops up still has a yahoo option in there. Does anyone know how I can get rid of it. I have tried reinstalling and uninstalling the toolbar as well but that has not helped. System is XP

Had everything set up and working nicely with Firefox (latest) and
Excite as my home page and email.

Tried downloading Yahoo email & messenger, god what a screwed up
intrusive invasive mess!

Now can't open Firefox at all.

Have uninstalled everything Yahoo but the tool bar still comes up when I
try to open FF and everything stalls and jams up.

How can I get rid of it so I can get FF back up and running properly?

Seems Yahoo just tries to take over the whole computer and change
everything and put all it's stuff as default, plus sell a whole bunch of
services and install them even tho I for sure don't want them.

Thanks!

Answer:How to get rid of Yahoo toolbar

You must have gone to the same school I did!

Anyway, YAHOOOO! - just discovered something.

Was looking thru programs and saw FF, so clicked on it.
Gave me an option to start in Safe Mode. When I did so
it gave me some options, including temp disabling add ons
which I did.

Lo and behold it started without that pesky Yahoo toolbar,
BUT it listed the add ons and I was able to Uninstall it -
and then I restarted FF in normal mode and Voila! No more
Yahoo tool bars and no more locking up!

Ha HA - Take THAT Yahoo!

Gosh I love it when a plan comes together!

Hello,Now that you have posted a log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/340378/yahoo-toolbar/ you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. Answer:Removal of Yahoo toolbar

Some other programs install Yahoo's stupid toolbar if you're not 100 percent awake and alert when you download. And most of us are sleepy, tired etc. frequently. CCleaner is one of those companies that exercise this courtesy. Try clicking around in the Yahoo! Toolbar's menu. Perhaps it will show an uninstall option somewhere. I know Google's Toolbar do.

Hello. Just bought a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 7 and IE8. I installed the Yahoo toolbar. When I click on the Explorer

A problem occurs when I try to drag an address logo onto my desktop(create a desktop shortcut). The site opens up immediately but the Yahoo toolbar is not there. It is not a choice in the view, toolbars drop down. However it is listed as enabled in manage add-ons. Even if I drag it into the taskbar the same thing happens.
I am used to Vista and just trying to get familiar with 7.
Is there something I'm misunderstanding here? I would think the toolbar should be evident on all websites.
Help is much appreciated!

My usual setup in IE is with a google search field on my toolbar and that has been taken over by Yahoo!. I can still select google from the dropdown and i can still set it as my default but any time i open a new IE window that search field is reverted to Yahoo!. I've used the wizard to try and uninstall it and i've searched for anything i can delete but i cannot remove this search from my toolbar; something is forcing it to stick around and remain as the default.

Please help!

Answer:Yahoo© Toolbar keeps disappearing

Hello azxcv and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. the first thing we need to do is update the operating system on this computer.Your operating system is extremely out of date. By not keeping the OS updated the computer is vulnerable to every infection on the net and in emails today and trying to repair an unpatched system is virtually impossible. For update purposes, Microsoft has even stopped supporting a system that is this far out of date. Go to the Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1.a site and install Service Pack 1a. Once that is done, go back to the Windows Update site and install all available Critical Updates but do not install SP2 at this time. This will patch the system with the most current security fixes and plug all the known holes which are present on this system. If you are not on a broadband connection the Service Pack can be obtained from Microsoft for a nominal shipping fee. After all of the updates have been performed post a new HijackThis log back here using the Add Reply button and I will review it when it comes in.Cheers.OT

I installed yahoo messenger and I said not to install yahoo toolbar and initially it didn't. However, when I did a windows update for some reason there it was? I know the toolbars like yahoo can be bad for your computer I have heard. Anyway, I tried to remove it from another computer by uninstalling it from add/remove programs and that didn't work. So, I don't want to try that on this one and not have a way to remove it. So, is there a special way to get rid of the yahoo toolbar that I may not be aware of. I am using the firefox 5.0.1 on Windows 7, 64-bit.

Answer:removing yahoo toolbar

Just disable it via Firefox's "Add-ons" manager.
It will be listed in the "Extensions" category.

ie crashes many many times. I have run ie without add-ons - NO crash.

So I started to run with add-ons - disable one at a time.

It is the Yahoo toolbar that causes the problem. Have uninstalled and downloaded and reinstalled. Same problem. Getting help from Yahoo is a joke.

BTW - this also happens if I run Firefox with Yahoo toolbar.

Any ideas will be appreciated

I tried add/remove-ing all Yahoo stuff, and it's still there.

Anyone have an easy fix? I don't want to have to go through the HiJack This logs, and all that, if possible.
BTW, it's in Firefox, and not in IE.

Thanks much,

The Yahoo Toolbar is missing from IE9. It does not appear on the drop down menu which lists what toolbars have been downloaded. It does appear in IOBit uninstaller but will not uninstall. I'm pretty sure that there is malware or something infecting this computer. It does appear on Firefox, however.

if you get SP2 and all the security updates there will be a pop up blocker installed already. I would recommend migrating to Opera 8.5 (or 9) or Firefox...

goto www.getfirefox.com or www.opera.com to get 'em. they are much better and more secure than IE

Somehow picked up the Yahoo! Toolbar, and I can't get rid of it.  It doesn't show up in my programs when I try to uninstall it, and when I try to disable it from the Manage Add Ons drop down, the Enable and Disable buttons are greyed out.  It doesn't seem to be re-directing me anywhere, but on the other hand, I don't want it there.

Answer:Yahoo Toolbar Keeps Disappering

Wow! Malware that actually does something good! (just being a bit sarcastic here!)

Right click on an empty area of your task bar and then select "Toolbars". Does the Yahoo toolbar show up in the list? If it doesn't have a checkmark by it - click it to make it checked. That should restore the toolbar.

BUT, this doesn't address why it's happening. The toolbar may vanish again, so keep an eye on it and let us know what's happening.

I'm getting tired of removing the Yahoo toolbar from my system. Yes, I know, it's my fault for not finding and unchecking the Add Yahoo Toolbar box each and every time. Can I add Yahoo to my spam blocker? This time when I did Start - Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs - Yahoo Toolbar - Remove, a window popped up saying something about not being able to find the uninstaller. I tried again and the entry disappeared from the Add/Remove list but the toolbar is still at the top of my browser. Now I just highlited a word to change it and a Yahoo icon popped up, and now a search menu --- OH THIS IS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL - HELP!!!! HOW DO I ESCAPE YAHOOZILLA!!!!!!!

Somehow I ended up with the Yahoo Toolbar today. I thought I was being careful, using proper protection, but evidently I missed a checkbox. Anyway, the first help I found was about removing through the Add/Remove programs window. When I tried this a window popped up saying something about couldn't uninstall because the uninstall log couldn't be found. I didn't think about copying the message at that time and now I don't remember the words exactly. After closing those windows I reopened the Add/Remove window again, selected the Yahoo Toolbar and clicked Remove just as I done a few moments before. This time "Yahoo Toolbar" disappeared from the list. Did a restart - the Yahoo Toolbar was still on my IE7 browser page. Then I found removal instructions explaining to click the pencil and click uninstall. After doing the pencil thing I did a restart. The system shut down OK but hung up on the startup. I couldn't get out of the loop and the power button on the front of the tower had no effect so I pulled the plug. After a couple of minutes I plugged the unit back in and pushed the start button on the front of the tower. A screen came up chastising me severely for the unplugging event and allowed me to go back to the last known 'Good' setting - Did So. Have even emailed Yahoo Help. Don't expect to ever hear back on that one. Would anyone have any ideas of how I can escape Yahoo's stranglehold? Is it possible to add Yahoo to a spam blocker, or spy blocker, or such to possibl... Hi,First I just want to say Thank You for your help. I know you are a volunteer and I just really appreciate your time. The problem that I'm having is that my Yahoo Toolbar has disappeared. I tried to make it reappear by going to View and then to Toolbars, but it is no longer listed there. I checked to see if it was still installed under the Control Panel and it was, so I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it in an attempt to make it reappear. It reappeared after installation but disappeared again a short time later (probably after I had restarted my computer). I again checked the Control Panel and the Yahoo Toolbar is still installed but once again is not an option under Toolbars (under View). After looking on the internet I'm thinking I have a malware program that doesn't want me to see the Yahoo Toolbar. I ran DDS and my log is below, but when I tried to run RootRepeal I got an error message saying that it doesn't support a 64-bit OS system. I didn't know what to do other than to post this log without the RootRepeal report. I have also included a HijackThis log that I ran right before registering with BleepingComputer.com (the HijackThis log follows the DDS report). Other than the Yahoo Toolbar disappearing, I have also noticed that my computer seems to be taking longer to do certain things - like there is a delay or something. When I attempt to run the anti-spy feature it come up with a page that says I need to update my toobar to a newer version. When I do this it it starts to install then advises me that I already have a newer version in place. So I exited the set up and when I tried to run it again the same situation. This time I said do not exit the setup and installed whatever version they had. After that, the same situation. I CANNOT run Yahoo toolbar's anti-spyware using the FF browser. However, I can with IE. Answer:Question re: FF Yahoo toolbar.

Its not you Jack.. the firefox yahoo toolbar has a "feature" of not being fully compatible yet, many more people are expiencing the same.

temp workaround seems to be you can run the scan manually by creating ( or double clicking ) a shortcut to the yspr.exe file in the C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\YPSR folder, until an update comes out, yahoo are aware of the issue, so I should be soon!

Answer:trouble with yahoo toolbar

What browser are you using? IE? If so, is it IE6?

In IE, click on the "Tools" menu and choose "Internet Options."
Click the "Advanced" tab.
In the "Browsing" section, make sure "Enable third-party browser extensions" is selected.
Close all IE windows and restart.
Reinstall Toolbar

or

In your IE menu bar, open the "View" menu, and select "Toolbars."
Try checking and unchecking "Yahoo! Toolbar."
If you see a Y! anywhere in the top of your web browser, then Toolbar has been installed, but is showing up in a weird place.
Directly to the left of the Y!, you'll see a thin vertical bar. Click on this bar with the left mouse button and hold the mouse button down.
Now, move the mouse to where you want the toolbar to go and release the button.
If you do not see the Y! or the Toolbar, try closing all web browser windows, and restart your web browser.

While installing Yahoo Toolbar for Firefox, this message came on the screen:

Debugging information in:

C:\Docume~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\TEMP\\GoogleToolbar\6af9fbb0-4131-4482-b427-508951b844.dmp

So this toolbar was not installed correctly, although Firefox lists Yahoo Toolbar in my Add-ins, it does not come on.

I cannot find the above C:\. Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?

Can you go to Firefox add-ons - Themes and Extensions and make sure everything us up to date - you need to make sure that you have the updated version of the Yahoo Toolbar compatible with your version of Firefox. Do you have the current version of Firefox?

I recently got this unwanted yahoo toolbar on chrome even though it has no extension and the default search is google. I tried uninstalling youtube downloader which I assume has started it. I ran windows defender, avast anti virus ran mrt command and yet no malware is detected. I uninstalled and reinstalled chrome. Yet, its still there. Please help me with this. It is right below the bookmarks and is very irritating. The search in google search box is also redirected to this tool bar and starts yahoo search.

I recently installed Yahoo messenger and when I open up Firefox, I find that I have the yahoo toolbar. I went to the control panels and removed the yahoo toolbar and restarted my pc. However, it is still there. How can this be removed? The Yahoo toolbar is no longer in the add/remove programs, however its still in the browser. Can someone please help? By the way, I even removed the yahoo messenger and still the yahoo toolbar is still there.

Thanks
