Preferred Solution: Computer slow.. Browsing pretty slow.. browser loads lagging.. help me pls

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.    Scan with FRST in normal modePlease download Farbar's Recovery Scan Tool to your desktop: FRST 32bit or FRST 64bit (If not sure: Start --> Computer (right click) --> properties)Run FRST. Don´t change one of the checkboxes and hit Scan. Logfiles are created on your desktop. Poste the FRST.txt and (after the first scan only!) the Addition.txt.    Scan with TDSS-KillerPlease read and follow these instructions carefully. We do not want it to fix anything yet (if found), we need to see a report first.Download TDSSKiller.zip and extract to your desktopExecute TDSSKiller.exe by doubleclicking on it.
Press Start Scan
If Malicious objects are found, do NOT select Copy to quarantine. Change the action to Skip, and save the log.
Once complete, a log will be produced at the root drive which is typically C:\ ,for example, C:\TDSSKiller.<version_date_time>log.txtPlease post the contents of that log in your next reply.

So http://imgur.com loads extremely slow on my home network. It loads on my laptop with any other network and works great on my phone as long as I'm not connected to my wifi. Changing browsers or resetting my wifi has not helped. Something on my home network is the issue. What should I look for? Thanks

I've had my computer for about 3 years, a Dell Dimension 4700,Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3. Lately it's been running a lot slower than it used to. I can't seem to figure out what's causing my computer to be slow. My fan inside my tower has been louder and my tower has been making louder noises. When opening "My Computer" it takes about 2 minute to load, and Microsoft Word freezes more often now.

Can anyone help?!

My Internet browsing speeds are painfully slow, and a lot of the time not connecting at all.

I’ve run a speed test. (2MB down 500kb up) – Fine
I’ve scanned for viruses and spyware numerous times – Nothing
I use a wireless connection.
I use Panda security software + firewall
I used tracert to check ping. Half the ping were quick (between 2ms to 20ms) but half timed-out?!

I used the Windows wireless diagnostic check.
It reported…

I am running Win7 Home , 16G ram, i7
I constantly maintain (or try to) maintin a clean system, using crapcleaner daily and various AVs (Avira) and MalewareBytes.

However, recently, all of my browsers run extremely slow on page loading (well, a few seconds on the blue circle).. sometimes freezing a minute or two and/or never loading destination page. I use Waterfox 43.04 and explorer 11.09. I have also tested waterfox with addons disabled .. and same problem.

Everything appears clean though, and the only recent software I have been running that is new is Netgear USB control center.

I hope someone can walk me through a more thorough inspection to try to solve this.

edit: small new piece of information. IE did not close manually; had to use task mgr.Edit: Moved topic from Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I hope this is the proper forum to post my problem... it's the closest topic..

I've had this problem for about a week now and can't figure it out. I can't even figure out where to start looking.

I have one of three web sites, which I pay hosting services for by the same host, that loads very slowly. After loading, logging in, clicking links, and anything that loads new content in the browser window takes a long time... maybe 30-45 seconds. If a link brings up a new window, the new window takes forever to load the contents. This doesn't happen on my other two separately domained sites. Beyond my hosted sites, this doesn't happen on any other web site I go to. Again, this also didn't start happening until about a week ago. I have done traceroute comparisons among the 3 sites with little to no difference in routes or delays.

Users of my site report no noticeable slowness so I guess it is just me. So I thought my PC, browser, or network/router somehow might be suspect even though it happens on only one site. Of 2 PCs (one running XP, the other Win2K) and a laptop (XP) in the house, they all respond the same way. I've used both MSIE and Firefox with identical results. I've deleted cache files and all that. I can't imagine my router, internet connection/ISP, or firewall causing it if it happens to only 1 web destination. If iin fact it is my ISP filtering my one site for whatever reason and slowing it down, I don't know what to ask them.

Has anyone seen this and/or hav... Read more

Previous thread - Please read the responses so you know what I've done so far!

I have followed the Preparation Guide, but still decided to open a thread.

My browser, Google Chrome, has the need to..
- Freeze for no apparent reason, taking it about 5-10 seconds before closing a tab
- Loading (sometimes) the sites I enter very slowly.
- Radio stations getting interruptions at times
- Sounds continuing (Youtube, Twitch) for a short duration after going back to previous location on the website.

My laptop was bought about 3 years ago. It's getting old, but it still performs well for it's age. I have never suffered these problems until recently. I do not know what is wrong.

Alright, so today i replaced my dad's powersupply and got an "Error Loading OS" Message for his system when it previously had XP on it. So i said forget messing with it ill just put vista on it and call it a day.

After putting the vista disk in it seemed to go pretty slow compaired to how it was on mine. But in the end it took about 1hr to 1hr and 1/2 to install completely. After installing it took forever to do the first boot up and after it booted i could not move the mouse more than one direction every 2 minutes or so. The system would apparently freeze or become completely bogged down for no reason.

So, this is a fresh install of Vista on a fairly good machine. Any reason why it is running as though it has the worst specs in the world?

PS: It runs fine in Safe Mode.....

The System configuration is as follows:

OS: Vista Ultimate 64bit
MoBo: Asus P5NSLI
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Graphics Cards: Nvidia 8600GT x2 SLI
Hard Drives: 3 various, one 80, one 200g, one 300g
RAM: 4gigs of corsair or something of the form.. namebrand to say the least

I Cant think of what else might help... it is doing this for NO REASON what so ever that i can find.

i'm having problems loading my webpages on my computer. I have dialup and know it's slow, but sometimes the pages don't load at all, sometimes they load in a text/list mode. I have tried avast antivirus, spybot s&d and superantispyware and can't seem to find a problem, any idea what the problem could be? I also use yahoo and msn and often when msn loads it says that the hosts files need to be fixed and there's a problem with the dns, but if i click the repair it fixes msn so it signs on.
I really am at a loss, and browsing the internet is getting harder every day, please any help would be appreciated. I have attached a hijackthis.log to this post if that would help at all

Answer:browser doesn't load pages or loads really slow

Here are a few things to check not related to viruses and malware:

* If it only happens occasionally on certain sties, it could be an issue with the website's traffic (how many people are trying to access it at one time). If the problem is at the website, delays or failures in web pages loading will happen even with a broadband connection.

* If things start out smoothly and get worse the longer you have been on line, your connection could be slowing over time due to poor line conditions. If a dial-up modem senses line noise, it will usually attempt to lower the connection speed so there is less chance of data loss.

Call your phone company and ask them to do a line check (usually free). This is especially true if you are noticing any buzzing, static or other issues when making a voice call on the same line.

If this doesn't solve the problem, consider one of the following:

* Replace the modem. On a desktop PC, internal modems are dirt cheap:

For a notebook, USB models such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16825164004 aren't that expensive either.

* Consider a switch to DSL or Cable broadband if available in your area. Many phone and cable companies offer a basic speed package (768KB/s; about 12x the speed of dail-up) for around $20/month. Since you won't have to pay a monthly fee for dial-up service anymore, the actual cost of upgrading may be ... Read more

Hi
Yesterday I noticed my browser (Internet Explorer 8) Started to re-direct my Google searches. It also seemed to be really slow returning results. So I ran Malware byte and it reported ?HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.fsharproj (Trojan.BHO) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.? Also McAfee found something a(I dont remember) Also said it was cleaned.
I thought I was good, but I wasn?t. I was told to restore the PC to an older state using System restore. I did this to a restore point from two weeks ago, and then was told I should not have done that and now I?m really messed up.
I would like to see if I?m okay now, I?m concerned that there might be some kind of key stroke tracker and I'm afraid to type anything, Also browsing is very very slow.
Thanks in advance

UPDATE... Ran Anti-Malware and it fixed it

Hello,

I have a problem with my browser connecting to some sites very slowly. I have noticed that when attempting to sign up for this fine site, Firefox would stall trying to connect to ad.doubleclick.net

I also noticed that when trying to update definitions for AVG and SuperAntiSpyware, it was not able to connect. Also, I attempted to run SuperAntiSpyware scan, but it did not do anything.

Hoping someone can help !!! Thanks for looking!

Answer:Popups And Pretty Slow Computer

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum Nana1 Before we can provide you with any further assistance, you first need to go here and install Service Pack 1;http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...p1/default.mspxThis will patch numerous security vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer and the Windows operating system. As your machine stands right now it's exremely vulnerable to infection. You need to get these updates installed first before we can proceed or we?ll both be wasting our time.Note:Do not install Service pack 2.If you install SP 2 on an infected machine it will cause serious problems within the operating system. When you've finished post a new Hijackthis log into your next reply please.

Soo my computer's gotten pretty slow over the last 6 months or so. Before this it used to always work fast, no lagging or anything. Now its much more subdued.

Now the computer is a bit old. I bought it Jan 2012. So there's that. But I think the specs are pretty decent.

I have an Acer i5-2430 @ 2.4 GHz, 6 GB RAM, 64 bit OS running Win 7.
1 TB hard drive which has 200 GB free. And I have an external 1.5 TB for what that's worth.

THere's no viruses or malware. I've checked.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks!
Dan

Answer:My computer's gotten pretty slow over the last 6 months

What have you checked for malware/viruses with?

How much software do you have installed? Do you have a lot of stuff coming up on startup?

Have you tried running a disk check?

Start -> type 'cmd' (without quotes) -> right click -> run as admin -> in the console window that pops up type:
chkdsk C: /f /r
Press Enter and it will say it cannot lock the current drive and to run on next reboot. Type Y and hit Enter -> Reboot your computer and let it run through the check (it may take some time, depending on how big your HDD is).

Lately my computer has been slow, i think its because its getting older (2 and a half years now). I have a Sony Vaio VGN-N130G, its not the best but it gets the job done. I have been having some problems with programs starting lately, either they'll freeze up or open slow. I believe it might have to do with all the stuff that comes preinstalled on Vaios seens how i just did a factory restore.
Anyways im posting on here to see if anyone can kinda give me a run down on what i can remove. I removed most of the stuff i knew i could but some of the stuff im still pretty iffy about and just need a second (hopefully a little more expert-ish) opinion.

Alright so my computer has been running really slow lately, and whenever I turn it on there are two error pop ups saying that some files are missing.

I also downloaded RegistryBooster, because I heard it's pretty good, although the free version doesn't do much, and it says I have 994 registry problems..

So if anyone has any help to offer me to cleanup my computer a bit, it would be greatly appreciated.

Over the past week I've been in the process of reinstalling programs to my computer after having to reinstall WindowsXP. Up until this past Friday everything was running smoothly, and then in the blink of an eye trying to browse web pages has become a frustrating act taking much longer than it should. When running other applications not involving going online, my computer runs completely fine. I suspect spyware is the cause because when I first began reinstalling programs I inadvertantly came across a web page that I know hit me with a load of spyware...all this happening before I reloaded my firewall and antivirus software. Eventually I installed these programs and cleaned out my computer to the point where I could work without worrying about spyware cropping up. I still suspect remnants of spyware remain on my computer which has now caused my browsing online to become a near impossibility. I am only able to ask for your assistance on this web site while running my computer in safe mode.
Sorry for being so wordy..I just wanted to be as descriptive as possible to help you out in determining the correct actions to help alleviate my problem.

Hi Mark and welcome to TSF.

Download L2MFix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening. After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 or any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

I am using Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Firefox and Chrome. This computer acts as a server and has MS SQL Server 2008 setup on it. I normally just use MS Security Essentials and Windows Firewall for security. Approximately one month ago after participating in an short online class a variant of the ?Win 7 2012 Security? scareware showed up and was doing it?s thing. I found a guide on Bleeping Computer to get rid of it using rkill.exe and Malwarebytes to get rid of it and it seems to work. Unfortunately I unwittingly selected to try Malwarebytes 30 day trial so about 3 days ago it got uninstalled from this computer. Two days ago while browsing Reddit suddenly up pops ?Win 7 2012 Security? warnings along with problems in browser connectivity. Having had this before I take the same steps again which seems to rid me of ?Win 7 2012 Security?. However when Malwarebytes is running MS Security Essentials (yes I neglected to turn it off) finds more infections. In fact almost every time Malwarebytes runs MSE finds something new.

Some examples are: Alureon.TK, vdf.exe, Kwrd.dll, PUP.BitMiner, Sirefef.J

I let MSE get rid of them and Mal fins a few also. My internet connection seems to get worse as browser performance decreases however if I run a speed check the DSL connection is fine. Yesterday (the 8th) I made sure everything was up to date (java, flash, windows) and got rid of everything that was extraneous to speed up scans.

At 4:36 PM MSE found: TrojanDownloader:Java/Op... Read more

Hi all!

I'm having trouble trying to install any Antivirus, I run the setup and nothing happens. (Originally Avast 5 was installed but not running, can't update it either so I uninstalled it)

After several days I managed to install Avira but it's in offline state - can't connect to update definitions.
Internet browsing it's too slow in any browser (I'm writing this from another computer right now because in the infected one it's impossible)

I must say that I cleaned several virus and malware just before this happens, because I was not able to execute any .exe file and when browsing and trying to load any AV site, the browser redirects me to ad pages. (This is now resolved)

I already ran Malwarebytes and it removed a bunch of malware related stuff.
I also ran AdwCleaner, TDSSKiller and Hitman Pro. If needed I can attach the log files.

Here's my FRST log.
Thanks!!

So, hello. I ruled out malware pretty early on, but I'm not an experienced expert, so I figured I'd give it another shot. I really have no clue what the problem is.

Running a Toshiba Satellite L755D laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything is out of the box except for a less-than-year-old 1 TB HDD.

Symptoms:
- Computer takes a while to startup once Windows takes over.  It takes maybe twice as long to get to the desktop than it used to, and then it may take a few minutes for me to actually be able to do anything.
- Once it has started, applications tend to be sluggish, unresponsive, or even crash (only one to do so is Windows Explorer. Twice.). Typing is at normal speed, doesn't seem affected.
- After startup, it's not always consistent. Like, as I type this, for instance, it seems okay.

Troubleshooting:
- Malwarebytes, Avast, MSE, Spybot, and AdwCleaner all returned nothing malicious. I ran Rkill before hand. Only active anti-malware is Avast. I use the other two for second opinions.
- HDD is not fragmented, and dskchk returned nothing.
- sfc /scannow did pick up on a couple of things, but the computer was still slow upon reboot.
- Nothing unusual hogging system resources.
- Computer is not overheating
- I run CCleaner fairly often, and there is still a good ~300GB left on my HDD.
- I've tried disabling unessential things that run on startup. Nothing changed.
- I've tried system restore. After the restore, I get th... Read more

I have DSL, but web browsing's been like really, really bad dial-up lately. I changed some settings(lowered disk space for TIF/made it check for newer versions of the page every visit) in IE last week, and thing were back to normal. Even though I usually use Firefox, changing some IE settings made everything(IE/Firefox/OE) much faster. It's now very sluggish again.

According to my ISP people, my connection is fine. Bandwith is fine. I believe it, since when I download/save a large file, the transfer rate is fine. Web browsing, though, is very sluggish. My OE takes a long time also when checking/sending mail. I've run virus(McAfee), spyware(Spybot and Adaware), and CWShredder scans. It seems like my comp is clean.

In windows browser, I noticed that my TIF was like 80MB even when it didn't show anything. So I followed instuctions(Microsoft's, I think) to basically create a new folder, set it as the TIF, delete the old one, remake a new TIF, etc. It's still slow. What else can I do to fix this problem? Would reinstalling IE6 do anything? Can somebody help me?

Thanks.

A few days ago I installed HotSpot Shield as a VPN Proxy. It ran fine for the first few days.
But today the computer went extremely slow. I noticed the following problems:

Slow browsing speed.
Browser hijack.
Extremely slow opening of Office Applications.

I ran Super Anti Spyware. It didn't detect anything but adware. I removed those from the computer using Super Anti Spyware.
But after that the problem worsened. I ran Malware Byte. It caught over a hundred PUP's. I did not remove those immediately, instead I then followed the MajorGeek instructions.

I have done the RUN and READ Me First instructions and attached the log files. Please advice, if everything is clean. I do not feel confident that it is. Thanks.

Answer:Slow browsing, and browser hijack. Suspected malware.

Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these 3 detections:

Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt

Hi,

My computer seems to be running slow! So annoying, especially lagging when i'm watching clips or editing. I actually have 1GB of RAM so i'm just wondering if i'm running too many programs because surely that should be sufficient for what i do. I usually fill up my HD actually, but even after getting the space back it still seems slower then it should be. I do a lot of movie editorial work so i need the space!

My Computer Specs:

AMD Athlon XP
950 Mhz, 1.00 GB of RAM
(Partitioned HDs)
Z:/ 120GB
C:/ 40GB

In my HiJack log i see a lot of Panda Antivirus stuff, but i don't use this program anymore and i've uninstalled it, yet there are still bits of it on my computer it seems...

Answer:Slow Lagging Computer

Let's remove Panda completely first to see if it alleviates the problem. Make sure you install another antivirus program back though because as of now, you have no antivirus program running...

Download this file and save it on your desktop. Double click on it to run it and follow the directions...that should uninstall Panda completely.

I'm not sure what's been happening lately, but my laptop has been running kind of laggy and slow. My specs are as follows:

Windows XP SP2
Intel Pentium M
1.60Ghz
1.12GB RAM
30GB HD (19.1GB Free)
Software: Avast! AV, Comodo Firewall

I initially thought that my computer would only slow after I started Trillian, but I tested this (by not starting Trillian), and it seems it will still slow a few minutes after a restart. Restarting my laptop seems to solve this problem temporarily.

I have run the following programs to test out any problems, but they all come back clean:

Chkdsk
Defrag
Avast virus scan
Spybot S&D
Lavasoft Ad-Aware

Keeping it in safe mode (I'm posting in Safe Mode w/ Networking right now) seems to also keep the problem at bay.

Help?

Thanks!

Hello im having problems making my computer run at normal speed. It has been running slow for awhile now but recently VERY SLOW. It takes forever to boot up and any program I open also takes an eternity. Once the program is running it works fine.
I have scanned the computer w/ norton, malwarebytes anti-malware and spybot.
I removed all the harmful files. Spybot seemed to make it run slower.
In the task manager the CPU usage is at 100%. There are about 80 processes when I boot up the system.(seems like a lot)
I uninstalled a bunch of programs I never use to free up some more space and I also tried restoring it to an earlier date.
I gave it the newest updates for windows.
I deleted all the programs I dont need from the start up.
Today I tried running Malwarebytes' anti-malware today and it TIMED OUT!! taskmanager said program was unresponsive.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I have to wipe my hard drive??? Please help!!! It is a Sony VAIO laptop.

Answer:My slow lagging computer

<<I removed all the harmful files.>>

That seems to always be a presumption...by those who get infected. Of course, it's not necessarily true but users seem to like to say/believe it.

I guess that I have to ask...was your system infected?

Any error messages during this troubled period?

Louis

Run tdss killer from http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684
let it cure anything it fnds ( except SPTD.SYS or anything detected as UnsignedFile.Multi.Generic, which should be ignored) & then reboot
post back with its log
By default, the utility outputs the log into system disk (it is usually the disk with installed operating system, C:\) root folder.
Logs have names like: UtilityName.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.
E.g. C:\TDSSKiller.2.4.7_23.07.2010_15.31.43_log.txt

Anyways, the problem with this computer is it has a lot of junk files, folders and things on it, yet I am not sure which files and folders are needed and which are not. Along with that problem, we have the bad lag. Sometimes it takes quite a few minutes to load Windows itself as well as programs.

My mother runs a eBay business and enjoys downloading games and music, so I know that is some cause of the slowing down of her computer.

Attatched is a Hijack This log.

Thank you in advance.

Hello hello. Windows 7 Home Premium, 3GB RAM, Intel Core i7 on a Dell Studio 1457 laptop.Refer to the topic HERE for boopme's history on my malware checks from a few days ago and reinstallation of Avira 2012 as it stopped working with similar symptoms as described below. The problems that exist now are,Video files begin to lag at random during playback. One moment it's playing fine for a good while and suddenly, lagging. Same issue in Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic and VLC Media Player. Also, VLC takes an unbearably long time to execute.Photoshop takes too long to execute, then lags when I'm working on large files.Firefox slows down and freezes at random as well.I run Ccleaner regularly and defrag once a month. How do I get my programs running normally again?

Scan with TDSS-KillerPlease read and follow these instructions carefully. Everything on my PC has slowed down lately. I regularly clean the registry (UniBlue Registry Booster) and defrag my hard drive, but that's as technical as I get. I have followed ALL of the step-by-step instructions, as advised, before posting. Here are my specs: Win XP Media Center Edition; Version 2002; SP 2; AMD Athlon 64 processor; 3400+; 2.39 Ghz; 896 MB of RAM (anyone want to also tell me why this is when the front of my pc says "1024 MB RAM"??). My problems are my pc is ridiculously slow - this includes web browsing and just generally doing anything on here; super-slow startups and shutdowns. I ran pc-cillin, no viruses or malware; ran lavasoft, had a couple of cookies I removed; spybot picked up nothing; panda picked up 3 instances of spyware but I didn't know what to do about it as it wanted me to buy it to remove them and I couldn't tell where they originated; etrust online scanner picked up nothing; windows defender picked up nothing. Hello

My computer has been running very slow lately and lagging when i I am watching videos on youtube. I looked at the programs I'm running in task manager and saw that something called svchost.exe has been taking up the most memory (40000 or so) when everyhting else is around 20000. Anyways, I ran a DDS scan and a GMER scan. But while running the GMER scan, I got a BSOD saying that a file "pxpdakod.sys" was the problem. Here is my DDS scan:

First of all I'm blaming it all on ram since this computer only has 256mb. But anyways it used to be a lot faster (by a lot faster I mean it didn't take 10 minutes to boot up and load everything). I would understand it if I installed a lot of things, but the thing is I barely installed anything and even at that, I didn't install any high memory consuming programs, all I have is basically a kodak program, avast and some hp software. So out of the 40gb I still have like 33 free.

I have scanned with every program I thought off and find no adware/virus/trojans etc. But I still feel there's something not right.

Can anyone tell me if this Hijack log has anything strange. On other news the comp doesn't have the dvd rom installed either. It's not installed in the hardware manager and it obviously doesn't show on the "My computer" tab. It was working when the comp. came out the package, so that's another reason i'm suspecting something gone wrong. Tried deleteling the upper and lower filters and still no dvd rom recognition. I'm going to run a Registry cleaning tool... any recommendations on this?.

So anyway:

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15 (7548) which has i7-5500U, 16gb RAM, AMD Radeon R7 M265 4GB.

Problem I'm having is that the laptop is laggy and sometimes freezes.

I've noticed the disk usage sits at 100% most of the time.

I've just upgraded it to windows 10 in the hope that windows 8 was causing the issue but it has stayed the same.

Any help with this (as it makes the laptop slower than my 5 year old laptop which I replaced) would be greatly receieved!

Thanks!

Hi,

Below is the HJT Log, could someone please review this. Most of the downloaded programs (O16) on my log are not showing up on my add/remove list. The only program that I still use is Ofoto. If they are not showing up on my add/remove list, then how can I remove these from my computer?

Also, on my add/remove list there is a "BUM" ... I'm not sure what this is and have not seen it on there before. Could someone tell me what this is and if I should remove it?

My computer runs extreme slow and I end up rebooting two/three times an hour. Sometimes there is a lag every few minutes. Most of the time when I reboot my computer I lose my internet connection and need to unplug my cable modem and if that doesn't work, then I reboot again till I get my connection back.

If there is additional information needed, please let me know.

Thank you for your help.
Lisa

Answer:Computer Running Slow and Lagging! Help Needed!

BUMP, please.

I have a Intel Core 2 Dou 1.86ghz with 3GB of ram running Windows XP SP3.

I hooked up a corrupted hard drive to my computer to try to recover some data, and ever since then it takes 2 and a half minutes to come up with the log-in screen, and another 5 and a half minutes for the computer to completely load everything once I log in. That means from turning on the computer, and being able to use it, I have to wait 8 minutes. And even then it doesn't fully load everything...if I want everything to load, I have to log out after logging in, and then log in again.
Before all of this, I was up and running in less than a minute, so something is seriously wrong.

I have posted on many forums, but no one seems to want to help.

Please...if theres anyone on here that can help me even in the slightest bit, I would be so greatful.

I am pretty technically inclined, but can't seem to figure out what happened.

I don't have many things loading at start up, just the essentials (networking, anti virus, etc...)

Thank you ahead of time!

Hello there,

I have an eight year old Gateway computer. It is just a regular, single home desktop. It has Windows XP Home Edition, 1.25 GB of RAM (originally had 256MB of RAM and I added two sticks of 512MB of RAM). I updated my computer to Service Pack 2 using Microsoft's Windows Update. My internet speed is about 6 - 8 MB's per second (cable).

Here is my problem: When I do not use my computer, it automatically starts to load like crazy. All I hear is the churning inside my PC's tower, but nothing comes up on the screen. After 30 seconds to 1 minute, the churning goes away. Also, when it churns, I see the hour glass next to the arrow on the screen. This happens once in a while, but it is suspicious. My computer hasn't been running like it used to, so I'm concerned if there are any viruses/trojans/malware/spyware deep inside my computer that are hiding from my numerous virus/spyware scans.

Also, when this problem started, I noticed that my Internet Explorer 7 has been scrolling up and down choppy on a lot of websites. Right now, if I scroll up and down this message body where I am typing this message, it will be sluggish. But, if I scroll Tech Support's website, it is not sluggish. Even when I highlight this text, it is sluggish to highlight. Websites like -- YouTube -- forget it. Very slow and I can't even play YouTube's HD videos as they are very choppy.

I would like to know from the experts if there is anything suspicious on my computer that shou... Read more

Answer:Computer loads slow after a couple hours of usage!

Well if all you have is 248mb of memory, yeah it'll be slow trying to view web pages, especially video. Even more so if your video card is the built- into-motherboard variety, as that uses system memory and the Celeron too.

Adding some memory would help, whether you want to spend the $ is up to you.

My computer is the only one in the house hard wired to the router. After we had to buy a new router, I started having trouble. The biggest problem is that my internet connection keeps getting dropped and it is impossible to stay connected to attach pictures, watch videos, or listen to music. As time has gone on my start up time has increased, but this could be because I have trouble downloading updates. I have run the malware removal programs, but I can only find 2 of the logs. Help!

Answer:Computer loads slow and drops internet connection.

Welcome to Major Geeks!

I need the logs from Hitman Pro and Malwarebytes. Per your other logs in MGlogs.zip, it seems you did not run the scans and save the logs per the instructions. Please run these scans and attach the logs. Follow the instructions given for running them in Step 2 of the below link

Windows XP Malware Removal/Cleaning Procedure

Your problems may not be due to malware. It may just be due to the below
Code:
Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 121.77 MB
which shows that you do not have enough memory to properly run Windows XP SP3 and everything else you are running. You need 6 times this which is 3 GB or at a minimum at least 2 GB

Hi there, I've been hooked on a game recently and been doing the same thing every time I turn my computer on for the past couple of months.  Only just the past couple of days something weird has been happening.  Upon starting up my computer, it'll load everything fine as usual.  Though, after about 5 minutes things seem to slow way down.  Whenever I click on something (Google Chrome, Start button, New tab, My game etc) The screen seems to freeze for about 5-10 seconds, then proceeds to load.  Sometimes it'll load fine or it'll be extremely slow until the process is complete.  After about 5-10 minutes everything returns to normal.

For months now, as soon as my PC starts up, i've been loading the task manager and terminating some processes (nothing important) to save them from opening up and clogging CPU.  Just things like AOL, MyTomTom (GPS programme), Webcam process, Windows Live Messenger etc.

I've restored my computer back a couple of weeks and ran a scan, though the problem still persists.  It's nothing major, it's just extremely frustrating.

I've tried numerous online searches aswell, though I'm having no luck finding anyone with the same problem.

Any thoughts?

Answer:Computer loads fine then runs really slow for 5-10 minutes.

Have you went to the msconfig and under the startup tab, disabled the programs from starting with your computer at startup? This may fix your situation of having the programs default to start with your pc.

I'm having script errors popping up (internet explorer script error, CCSvcHst and ccApp errors), when I shut down it seems like so many things are running and "end program" prompts show, my flash player .exe wont allow me to view content. it takes like 2 minutes to even open a new internet window, programs take forever to open and the entire system is sooOOO slow and skipping, and lagging like its just bogged down (not to mention that I just got a new itouch and I cant even get to itunes to sync it because it thinks the itouch is a flipp'n camera???...in my ineffective attempt to fix any of the problems I've run cleaners, malware scans etc but nothing seems to do anything.Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hello,

I'm having a problem with my computer. I run Spybot Search & Destroy regularly, as well as running Ad-Aware SE. I use Sygate Personal Firewall, and I run AVG virus nightly. I used IE up until a few months ago. I switched to Mozilla suite and things went a little faster. Then I switched to Firefox last week and things are going yet faster. But I have Road Runner Cable internet, and the internet is supposed to be going faster than this. I stopped unnecessary programs from starting up through msconfig, as well as deleted unneeded files. But it isn't just my internet that's going slow, when I'm trying to work with windows period my experiece is freezes and having to restart a lot or close programs out a lot. I'm on a Hewlett-Packard with 256mb memory, Windows XP Home edition. Here is my Hijack-This logfile, and I'd appreciate any help!

Hello friends!Every time I open Firefox (or IE) it works fine initially, but after a few minutes on the web the entire computer slows way down. I have been working with Windows Task Manager open and I see it is always the web browser maxing out the CPU.Closing the browser, waiting and then reopening it, results in the same issue. So does restarting. I do like to watch a lot of video blogs, could this be filling up memory somewhere? Here's my current HijackThis log. Please help if you can. Answer:Computer Very Slow While Web Browsing

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sorry for the wait, if you still need help, I do not see any malware in this log. I do however see two antivirus programs running at the same time and this is not a good thing. See this:http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.n...000031316555206"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."The conflictions caused by this make it impossible to troubleshoot other issues. I suggest you uninstall one, update and scan with the other. If that does not fix your problem, you have ewido onboard, open the program and choose update, allow time for it to finish. Now click scanner then complete system scan. Allow ewido to remove anything it locates unless you know it is not bad. Save that scan report, I must see it.Post the ewido scan results and a new HJT log along with any comments you think will help.Thanks...pskelleyBleepingComputer

I am running Windows XP, and have a 2.4 gigahertz processor, it?s always been a very fast system. RAM memory is 1 GB. 32GB of hard drive used, and 44 GB free. But now whenever I startup a program like Microsoft Word, Excel, and other types of programs, the computer takes about 5 seconds to load the program up, when it used to load it instantly. It?s not only the Microsoft Office programs that are slow to load.

I have also now noticed that if I am playing music on my computer through itunes ( I have an Ipod), if I use other applications, the itunes program begins to stop playing the music, freezes, crackle the sound quality. It acts like the processor can?t manage all of the activity at the same time, which it never used to have a problem like this.

I keep an active copy of McAffee Virus on my computer and have run spyware programs, etc and other types of programs to diagnose and boost performance, but with no change. The computer is about 3 years old. I have defragged also.

Any thoughts?

Answer:Slow Startup, Slow Program Loads, Etc

Hello, and welcome to Bleeping Computer!

Just curious:

ctrl + alt + del will bring up the Windows Task Manager. Click on the Performance tab. Here you can see the amount of CPU and memory usage. Experiment a little, and record what CPU levels are before you open itunes, and then see what it is after you open it. Also I am curious as to what the numbers are under Availalable Physical Memory when these things happen.

Like I said, experiment a little, record what happens, and report back here!

Help I have a HP zd7020 laptop with Windows XP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 2. It has a Intel Pentum 4 CPU 2.80GHz and 512 RAM.

It starts up really slow and is slow to open programs and when I right click it takes forever to show the right click menu. I also notice that when I try to set a homepage on my IE7 I get this no matter what; http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust...search/ie.html

When on the internet my pages at times lock up. I don't have but 2 or 3 programs running at the same time. Well not memory hogging programs. But before I used to have them open and it was still fast. Can anyone advise as to what I should do?? Thanks.

Does this have anything to do with my computer running slow??

Answer:Solved: Starts up slow/Everything loads slow

it looks like you have some malware on your comp. download ad-aware from there website for free and run it.
then run a virus scanner as well
after that, go to start, run, type 'msconfig', and go to the services and startup tab to uncheck programs that you don't need running
DON'T uncheck the ones who's manufacturer is Microsoft

Hello,I recently installed software that apparently contains malware. My computer's symptoms include a little slow on startup, after use of more than 30 minutes the computer becomes extremely slow at doing anything (looking at My Computer in Windows Explorer takes 5 minutes), it freezes (especially Firefox and Windows Explorer) and, in one incident, the computer failed to wake up from sleep mode (lights reactivated but screen was "off" [not black, "off"], no response, repeated attempts to wake it up failed). I have since uninstalled the software to see if it would make a difference, and it has gotten better, but I'd like to make sure that there is no residual malware left over - or if I have spoken too soon.Attached is the Attach.txt and Ark.txt that is required by the preparational page. Hi folks re-posting as per your suggestions http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/587154/tried-all-your-suggestions-for-slow-pc-still-very-slow-i5-laptop/

The indexing did rebuild and I removed the P2P program.
One thing I noticed is that explorer related tasks are very slow. Sometimes when I try to open a folder and view files explorer is stuck. It doesn't freeze and is semi responsive but doesn't display any files and just stuck in trying to load the folder. See image attached. I have to restart the explorer from Task Manager in order to get it running again.

To answer your last question. What I meant by sometimes was that, sometimes Windows loads normally without BSOD. Anyway this issues seems to have disappeared now. Laptop runs a little bit faster but not much. Website are still loading very slow (even the major ones so it's not a problem with UE on their end, and loads much faster on my desktop). Explorer folders sometimes don't load icons and menus, preview of media takes ages sometimes causing crashes of the application, applications like skype, xlite and office are very slow and are getting stock/becoming unresponsive.
Thank you for your help.

Answer:Slow browsing and very slow explorer and disk read write related processes cont.

Quick update of things I've noticed.
1. When searching for things on Google after typing the query and pressing enter/clicking search the page is stuck I can see it's loading at the top (Tab spinning circle) and the search page results are blank white, buttons are responsive etc but tit doesn't bring up any results. Then if I press search (enter or click the search button it displays the search results.
2. Sometimes there is a huge delay in typing. You can type a full sentence and it will display the letters/words slowly on the screen (letter by letter steady pace first and sometimes at a fast/semi fast burst of typing) but not at full speed.
3. Sometimes when I open spreadsheets or other documents in office it says that someone is currently editing the file but this is a standalone laptop that is not part of an intranet and there is no one else who is viewing these files apart from me.

Please can someone take a look at my reports.

My PC has become slower in the past few months, it takes ages to start and often crashes/freezes when browsing the internet. This happens with both IE and Firefox.

I've run some of the free anti virus programmes but they've not made much difference.

Thank you.

Need a little help please. My computer is really slow. It takes 30 secs or more to open any program. Start up takes upwards of 5 mins before I can even attempt to open a program or the whole computer freezes. My internet browser hangs all the time and I have to close out the browser and restart it all the time.
I have AVG 9.0, Malware malbytes, and Spybot. I have run all three and no viruses were found. Spybot detected 6 problems and I fixed them but everything is still the same.
I have followed all instructions for slow computers and browsers on this site and in the first steps section in this thread.
Been dealing with this for a while hope someone can help.
Thanks

Hi! I've been looking for help with my computer. I'm not the best with computers, but I'm not a geezer either.

For the past few months my computer has been getting very sluggish while browsing the internet. I've ruled out malware, viruses, and registry issues as I've used various cleaners and anti-virus scanners. My regular day-to-day software is Microsoft Security Essentials however I have gone through periods with AVG and Malwarebytes.

Many people have suggested that it may just be Firefox, however Internet Explorer and Safari both proved to be just as slow. People have suggested that certain Add-Ons may lead to the browser slowing, however I have very few and as I mentioned the same went for other browsers.

I thought it may have been a memory issue so I've tried to reduce the amount of memory I use. I have an add-on that reduces the amount of memory Firefox will use in total, as well as using Add-block Plus and an add-on that doesn't activate Flash on a page until I click on the item that needs to use it.

I've ruled out the memory issue though considering I have 3GB of RAM on my Laptop and the only big programs that I usually have running that would take a lot is Firefox and Itunes. However I've seen computers with a lot less memory handle both of those programs and more.

Additionally I've switched many of the visual features of Windows 7 off, for more of a windows classic look. Again, I don't think this is a memo... Read more

Hi there.
This is my system.
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU P7450 @ 2.13GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10
Processor Count: 2
RAM: 4056 Mb
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family, 1804 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 476837 MB, Free - 407942 MB;
Motherboard: Dell Inc., 0F642T
Antivirus: McAfee Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware, Updated and Enabled
I don't know whether it's age, or I have a problem, but recently I've been having trouble with my computer. After about 10 minutes of browsing the Internet, tabs won't open and the browser doesn't respond. It's also impossible to access the task manager and other programs.
My virus scanner and cleanup also seem to lock up after about 20,000 files examined.
Had a Poweliks virus a while back cleaned up.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thx,
Jay!

I posted this in the Security Forum and the BC advisor says I have no infection and should re-post here.

My daughter lives in an apartment where she shares the web connection of the business downstairs. The router password is simply the business name. Her browsing became extremely slow when she moved there.

My computer was running fine . One day I got on the web at her apartment. . All was fine as I was on the web at that location. After I returned home that day and restarted my computer, all operations are 5-10 times slower. After a restart, it takes 4 minutes for my home page to come up. Firefox is my default browser. Getting to a site's  home page takes several tries and takes much longer, then navigating within the site takes much longer or fails entirely. For example , I can get to my email home page and after 1-3 tries over 5 minutes I can view an email. I can get to Netflix home page but cannot connect to watch a movie, regardless of how many times I try, I just get the "something's wrong" message. IE works better (I can connect to a Netflix streaming movie) but is still slow.

It seems to me I picked up something from a possibly hacked web connection.

My system is a Toshiba Satelite C655D, 4 GB Ram, 64 bit, with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.

Nothing has worked, extremely frustrating when trying to do anything. I use firefox for a browser. It is not the latest edition, but afrai to upgrade for fear of losing bookmarks.

Is the problem still there in Safe Mode? Are you loading up any programs at startup? Have you tried MSCONFIG to do any trouble-shooting by disabling everything and then starting them up one at a time until you find the culprit?

Brand new computer, bought premade from Chillblast. Everything works great, games running at 60fps, no complaints bar one.
Web browsing is painful. Both Edge and Chrome are unresponsive and very slow to load pages, often taking multiple attempts to load anything. When I close either browser, they continue to run multiple instances in Task Manager, and I can't reopen them.
Ending each task can sometimes allow me to reopen the program, but task manager sometimes won't allow me to end the final instance, saying I don't have permission (I am on an admin profile)
I have already disabled all extensions and disabled running background apps when closed. Also disabled hardware acceleration, with no improvement.
I am running out of ideas, and if I can't find a fix for this may have to return the computer.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, this is my HijackThis log. I've seen many people having problems with their computers use this program and post their logs on tech support forums like this who were able to receive the needed help. I'm not really that good with computers so I can't say for sure what I know what is contributing to the sluggish speed of the internet browsing and just the general opening/moving applications and files on Windows. I've tried Ad-aware and it has worked successfully for me before with other things, but for this problem I haven't got much found items on Ad-aware. It makes it seem like my computer is free but obviously not. My internet browsing is slow as heck and even just moving about on Windows is a hassle. So, if anyone could please check out this log and see if there could be any potential problem that I missed. Thanks alot!

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running. Ad-Aware? SE Personal Edition
Spybot Search & Destroy
CWShredder

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible.
Please make sure system restore is enabled by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn OFF System Restore and make sure it?s NOT checked. We want system restore ON and monitoring your current hard drive. Once your clean we will turn this off and then back on to remove the infection from the restore folder and create a clean restore point.

Please go to at least two of these sites and run an online Virus Scan.
Be sure to have the AutoFix box(es) checked.

Hello!

Can someone please help me? I am writing this from a dimly-lit Polish internet cafe with a slow
internet connection. I came here because my Toshiba laptop (windows xp) has been running painfully
slowly. My livelihood depends on my computer and internet working!! Apparently I have caught a virus
and/or malware, but I cannot even post a HijackThis report, because my internet connection is too slow,
either on DSL or 3-G, to even download the Hijack This program!!!

The internet speed in this internet cafe is a measly 8 megabytes. It takes too long to download from
this internet cafe.Would someone possibly be willing to send me the latest Hijack Program by email to: [email protected]? That way I could download it from the USB drive and run it on my
computer and post the results here.

Please help me. Thank you.

Larry
