Thinkpad yoga 12 2015, pen digitizer issue after standby

Question: Thinkpad yoga 12 2015, pen digitizer issue after standby

I am experiancing a strange problem with the pen/ digitiser: after waking up from standby, the pen seems to go into a frenzied clicking when i touch it to the screen, i.e. as if the pen is tapping the screen continously at very high speed. The problem goes away upon restarting the machine but comes back after standby. I have installed all windows and lenovo updates to no avail...any one familiar with the issue?

Preferred Solution: Thinkpad yoga 12 2015, pen digitizer issue after standby

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Thinkpad yoga 12 2015, pen digitizer issue after standby

On certain occasions after wake up from standby, the pen seems to stop working completely until a restart. It seems to be very intermittent.I looked for updates to the wacom driver on wacoms website, with no luck. Strangely enough, the current driver being used for the thinkpads (and presumably all tablet pc's) comes under their 'Legacy' drivers section!

Answer:Digitizer to fit in thinkpad yoga

the wacom digitiser should be bonded to the LCD, and does not come as a separate part. http://support.lenovo.com/en_AU/product-and-parts/detail.page?&DocID=PD029829

Hey, does anybody know which pens are compatible with the Yoga 460?For me the pen tip feels a bit too hard on the display. I've had the Note 10.1 2014 with a better Pen and bought a Lenovo stylus. But they were passive digitizers...

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 260 & 460 Digitizer

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I can only talk from my experience.  I have ThinkPad Pen Pro 4X80H34887 on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 ( 20DM008UUS ).
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X80H34887/460/41E9A3C3FB5A45A9AC47C56812E4188C

For what I know (I may be wrong) the Pen Pro uses Wacom technology, it has a battery inside. I found it very nice with a nice size... but it depends on personal taste.

Can you post the full model number of the computer you want to check it will work with the pen?
I know that the Thinkpad Pen Pro web page may not say much. So, what I saw it was recomended on this forum was:
1) Check your computer model against the PSRef Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/
See if your model is listed with "Active Pen" support.

2) There is more information about the Thinkpad Pen Pro here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178

There is also the Thinkpad Yoga Pen , but I don't have experience with that one, some amazon review says it does not have batteries and it focus for replacement for Thinkpad Yoga that came with pen... but I don't know.

Regards.

I've seen several threads about this issue, but none that address my specific concern.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14. It did not come with a digitizer pen included. However, I suspect that the screen does in fact have a Wacom digitizer layer. My rationale is this:

My computer came pre-installed with the Wacom Pen Calibration Software
Device Manager reports the following HID devices:-- HID-compliant digitizer-- HID-compliant pen-- Wacom Device
When I run the Wacom Hardware Check (available here), it reports "You have hardware compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver."
All of the 20DM008 models listed at http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/179 support the active pen (I cannot find the 20DM008U++ model there for some reason)

However, the computer will not recognize the ThinkPad digitizer pen I purchased.

So, I suppose I have three questions:

Am I just misinterpreting what I am seeing in the Device Manager?
Is it possible that Lenovo installs the Wacom screen on all it's tablets, but disables them somehow on models not marketed as digitizer ready?
If so, is there any way for me to enable my screen to allow for digitizer use?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - Digitizer Pen

Good day.

Looking at the models that support pen at the PSREF link you included, please notice that it specifies "Active Pen". This is not the same as the ThinkPad Digitizer Pen. That's why it won't work for you.

You need the newer, AAAA battery-powered Active Pen. Apologies, but I don't have a link for it.

Edit to add: Have a look at this - https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178Please see the Compatibility section for important info.

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Regards.

I learned that the digitizer with Helix cannot be used as an eraser, does the ThinkPad Yoga digitizer have the same problem? Thanks

Solved!

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga Digitizer Question

the digitiser pen on Helix, TPT2 and Yoga all lack the traditional eraser function of the traditional ThinkPad X series tablet. There is a side button on the digitiser pen, which you can use for eraser function. Alternatively, get the X series tablet digitiser pen which has an eraser function, they work with the ThinkPad Yoga (and is what i am using now).

Hi everyone. I am looking to buy a laptop for university (studying engineering). I would like something that is durable, and powerful. Thats why I am looking into getting the Thinkpad Yoga. I love the convertable and compact feel, as well as the SSD that I will be getting with it.  However, another reason why I wanted to get it is because of the 'Active Digitzer'. I didn't even know what this was called since a week ago, and I still cant seem to understand what this feature will allow me to do? How does the Digitzer benefit me? Especially when I compare it to the Yoga Pro 2 (even tough that also has a touchscreen). Am I unable to draw on a YP2? Would I not be able to draw on the screen? I want to use it mainly when I use Adobe Illutrator. Is the Digitzer option worth the extra money I have to pay? With that feature added on, I will be paying almost $2000 :s

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga: Is it worth it and Digitizer?

Hi there: I have been using X230T, a predessor of Thinkpad Yoga. X230T also comes with a digitizer. I bought X23)T also for a reason: I can take note during class. I am not an engineer but a finance student. 1. You might want an Active Digitizer because it allows you to write on-screen. Use Microsoft One Note. Your computer can replace your pen and paper.2. You can still draw on YP2. But what do you feel when you use your finger, say your pointer, as a pen  YP2 does not have a digitizer pen. 3. The pen I believe is included. You do not have to pay extra unless you want to have a spare one. 4. I think Lenovo Thinkpad has lost its quality legacy from IBM. I do not like the new layout of the keyboard (I like the trackpoint but the moust click now share with the trackpad. It is just ridiculous. You cannot have an accurate click with it (for me))5. Just look at the Microsoft new Surface pro 3. You might like it! If the next time I upgrade my computer, I would by a Surface pro instead of the Thinkpad.   Cheers

Hey guys!I am looking forward to buy this beauty here: http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/yoga-series/yoga-14/ it's the second one with the 256 GB ssd and i7.I already asked this question to the Facebook Page of Lenovo Australia and New Zealand, but the guys there didn't get it.Does this particular laptop come with a wacom digitizer? So could I use, let's say, a wacom intuos pen to draw, make sketches and write notes?I asked the guys on Facebook if the laptop comes with an active digitizer layer, but all they answered was "it doesn't come with an active pen". They didn't answer on my second question whether or not if it comes at least with a wacom digitizer. That's why I signed up here Thanks for your help!

Hello, I just received my new shiny TPY (again). The first time I got it, the digitizer wasn't working. After a bit of research I realized that it probably was a hardware issue (No digitizer, pen or wacom device in device-manager). So I send it back. The mainboard got replaced and today I have my machine back. It was all working fine including the digitizer. But from one minute to the other it stopped working and I can't find any wacom or digitizer devices in the device-manager.Now my first thought was, that the Windows updates messed something up, so I've done a rollback but it's still not working.Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware issue again? Thanks for advance.Robinhuett

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga - Digitizer is not working

Hello. It isn't a Hardware Problem. It seems to be a software problem after Windows 8.1 Update. I have the same problem :-( When I start the PC it works perfect, until I used it as Tablet. After that the Digitizer Pen didn't work. So I reinstalled all drivers. After that the pen worked.. so I tested it again as Tablet, after that. the Digitizer Pen didn't work. Now I installed all drivers again but the Pen didn't worked. It is a big problem at Lenovo, because Lenovo has problems with the pen software a long time. It is soooo sad because I love the Thinkpad Yoga but with this Problem the price isn't acceptable. So I am going to send it back and wait for the Surface Pro 3. Because Thinkpad stands for the perfect Business Notebook and now... Lenovo has with the digitizer pen more problems than all others. And this is very sad :-(

Hi, Could somebody please point me to the place where it list the digitizer in the Thinkpad Yoga as a Wocom? I see it all over in review sites, but I can't find it in the description or the product specifications. I'm interested in this model:20CD00AVUS, which I know includes a digitizer, but I want to make sure its definitely Wacom... they all just say "digitizer". So I guess what I am trying to figure out is:1. Are ALL digitizers installed in Thinkpad Yoga's the same, or do they vary in brand/quality?2. How can I find out if its a Wacom? Thanks for the help.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Wacom Digitizer?

First off the digitizer technology consists of two parts the digitizer enabled screen and the digitizer pen. Second i'd say all the TPYs have the same digitizer Technology (both screen and pen) licensed from Wacom. So the pen itself is probably prdouced by Lenovo or a third party. --- By the way other products like the Surface Pro, Vaio Duo or Galaxy Note have the same technology built in and you can use there respective digitizer pens for the TPY as well.

Ok so i just recieved a thinkpad yoga S1. The one i got was the one without the digitizer pen automatically installed into the computer's side. The pen came separately and its the exact same one as the one used with the version that comes with the pen. I dont know the product code or even what its called. Which driver do i install and how can i register the product? Also, since the version i have has like a little black piece where the digitizer normally goes is there any way i can take it out and be able to accomodate the pen that came seperatly?

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1 digitizer help

I think there is only two options it either comes with the pen or it doesn't. The one that doesn't have the pen built into it doesn't support the pen because of the panel used. That is waht I remember when I was researching into this unit.

I've read that the 20cd0032us and 33us Thinkpad Yoga models are the only ones without an active digitizer.  However, this appears to be all that is for sale on Amazon and other places.  Any idea of where you can but a Thinkpad Yoga with an active digitizer??

They are only available on Lenovo's website as far as I've seen. I tried looking other places like Amazon, too, but haven't seen the digitizer model. I ended up buying one directly.

Hello everyone, I'm in the market for a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga for work. It needs to have the digitizer pen/panel. How do I determine if the model has a digitizer pen/panel? I just purchased a refurbished Thinkpad S1 Yoga from outlet. The description mentioned nothing about coming with a pen or having digitizer compatibility although these descriptions are generally not very detailed to begin with. I was reading that some of these machines (FHD) with the same specs as mine don't come with a pen nor  compatibility and am not sure if those two features can exist separately.  I think the newer versions all have both. Is there a way to tell if mine's compatible or not? I don't think it will come with a pen and I don't want to open the box before finding out. Part number if it helps: MP053KKL-20CDCTR1WW Thanks.

Hello,I just bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 (20DL000SIX) that does not come with the pen apparently (I still have to receive it physically), but *does* have the full HD capacitive screen multitouch (1920 x 1080).I also bought separately the Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen (4X80F22110).I spent a lot of time to understand if the two are compatible (i.e. the wacom digitizer is installed or not on the laptop), and on Lenovo website, following Products -> Accessories&Software -> Search For Compatible Accessories For Your System, it looks that indeed they are:http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:find-compati... I see that there are multiple posts on similar issue, confirming that the communication of Lenovo about pens and digitizer is really inadequate.I read in many places that the thinkpad yoga's that don't come with the pen do *not* have the digitizer. I also read that the full HD screens does have te digitizer. So, I'm getting confused...: my yoga does have the full HD but does not come with the pen included! There is no clear information anywhere and also the Lenovo  support (I called on the phone many times) is not satisfactive on this.Does anyone have the same model, or have a more clear idea on this topic? Thanks!Giulia

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 12: digitizer? (20DL000SIX)

Hi giulsi

I also agree with you on this subject. There is much confusion with the "pens" on Thinkpad Yogas.
I think that Lenovo should specify better on the webpage (shop) which Thinkpad Yoga came with Active Pen, and on the Pen pages (also on the shop page) they should specify which models apply for it, and where to search if you computer has support for it.

How to know if you Thinkpad Yoga is Pen Compatible?
For the moment one thing that works to know if your Thinkpad is "Pen Compatible" is to search on the PSRef books.
http://psref.lenovo.com/
or
http://psref.lenovo.com/Book

I searched your model:
http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/ThinkPad_Yoga_12?M=20DL000S%2B%2B
It says it has:

Pen
Digitizer pen

So that's good......
There are other models that says "Active Pen".. not sure if that means it only works with the "Thinkpad Pen Pro" or not.

How to resolve the question of which pen is good for you?
Thinkpad Yoga Pen suppor page:
https://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/documents/pd030464
It says "The ThinkPad Yoga Pen supports the ThinkPad Yoga." So it may also work.

I'm guessing that it will work, but please post back when you get your pen to see if it works with your model.
Regards

So like I do from time to time, I'm configuring a Thinkpad Yoga to mull over (window shopping until I can afford one) when I notice that there's no mention of a digitizer or pen functionality any more, anywhere. Did something happen to it? Pen support was a deal breaker for me.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Digitizer not available anymore??

I noticed this missing info too when ordering my custom ThinkPad Yoga, so at checkout I added pen from the optional accessories. When my laptop arrived, it came with two pens! One inside the laptop package, and another in separate box. I suppose it might be their website issue or country-specific supply issue.

Hi, I have a lenovo thinkpad yoga (without a digitizer pen). Unfortunately, I found that there is an option of a pen after I bought it. Is there a way I can somehow add the digitizer screen to it now?I have been searching for weeks for a solution. I have even tried using a normal capacitive pen but, it does not work as fluidly as a digitizer pen.

Hi, Today (or last night, not sure) three columns of my TPY 460's digitizer seem to have stopped working. Two of them are right next to each other, the third one a little further to the right. (I'm guessing the number of columns by the distance of the small dots that you can see on the display when you look at it from an angle). When I tap the pen onto the two defective columns, nothing happens, when I drag it across, it stops on one side and then jumps to the other. It's similar for the single column, but there isn't a complete stop and a jump, more of a non-linearity, the cursor moves slower, then faster, then slower again. For finger touch, the problem is similar. Is this a common problem that can be fixed by properly plugging  some cables or should I return the computer? (It's a demopool device, so I have no warranty, but I can return it within two weeks without a reason).

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have had my S1 for about 10 months now and i have had no issues with the pen and using it. I used the pen last weekend in lectures, taking notes with no issues or problems and have gone to use it today, as part of my assignment, and it just isn't working at all. It doesn't matter if its in laptop, tent or tablet mode, i get no resposne from the pen at all. I have had a look in the device manager and have no issue notifications, but likewise, i can't locate anythingthat i think looks like the digital pen drivers (nothing Wacom in there). I have searched around the forums and o-line and can't seem to find anything that might help me. Have even searched, without finding, how to unistall and re-install the Wacom drivers. If anyone has any suggestions on how to diagnose and resolve this problem i would be really happy to receive them. many thanks for your help Chris

Hey, just in case someone is interested in pressure sensitivity for the Thinkpad Yoga.Try this driver from wacom ;-)http://www.wacom.eu/index4.asp?pid=9278&lang=de This morning I had a phone call with the Lenovo Support Europe regarding the subject, but all they were able was to tell me to send my brand new Yoga in. I can not tell you how disappointed I am from this support. They are hardly to understand and they know nothing!!! As an early adopter of the Thinkpad Tablet 1 this was not my first experience with them and the only reason to buy the Yoga was that there is no alternative for my kind of usage. Nevertheless I found the solution by my self and I can't tell you how happy I am. Not to be misunderstood, this is a problem of the european support I don't believe (or hope) that it is the same with the US support and especially the Lenovo Staff in this forum does a really good job!

Hello all, apologies if this is a duplicate issue, but my searches did not turn anything up. I just received my new TPY a couple of days ago and have been happily installing software. Today was the first time I really tried using my digitizer pen, as I finally had time to open Photoshop and Illustrator. In doing so, however, I discovered pen calibration is completely messed up for the top edge of the screen. I tested it outside of the Adobe programs and the same problems occur there. I have already gone in and tried recalibrating my pen more than once using the calibration tools in the Control Panel. Is this a known issue that I just need a driver update for or is this a hardware issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Erika

I have just purchased the ThinkPad Yoga. I was wondering if there is a way to change what "handedness" you on when using the digitizer pen. I am left handed and the pen is obvioulsy configured to be used with your right hand. So when I write using the pen the writing and the pen tip to not match up like it is supposed to. It matches perfectly if I were to write something with my right hand but when I use my left hand, the writing is off (as in the letters do not match up to where I wanted to write them) Any information on this would be great, kind of anoying for trying to add notes in class. Thanks

Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

Question: 2015 Thinkpad yoga

Can anyone confirm that the 12 inch TPY on lenovo.com is the new version?  I just ordered one and want to make sure that it is the new 2015.  Online support could not answer question for me.  Are there any identifying factors I can check that will let me know if it is the old or new version?  Thanks in advance!

Answer:2015 Thinkpad yoga

I don't believe it is a new version... note the CPU is 4th-generation, not 5th-generation. The CES 2015 page refers to the "latest" Intel Core i7 CPUs and the 5th-generation seems to already be shipping (or at least configurable) in some models, like the X1. Also, they mention the 15" Yoga which is not on the ordering page.

The actually drivers are installed. The pen function is ok. But only in the "Notebook-Modus". I tested it.. when I am turning the Notebook in the Tablet-Modus AND THE KEYBOARD IS INSIDE, the pen function doesn't work and I have to reboot. When I reboot in the Tablet Modus it also doesn't work. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE????????? Thank you soooo much. David

Hello everybody, do you know if the internal HDD/SSD provided with the new Thinkpad Yoga 12 2015 can be replaced by myself? And if this operation is possible, is it simple to proceed ?I used to replace HDD by SSD on my MacBook pro laptops, it is very simple.  As the internal HDD and SSD provided are not the best ones (the Thinkpad SSD are considered as to be slow), i want to replace the HDD/SSD by a Samsung 840 Pro. Thanks a lot for your reply

Answer:SSD/HDD replacement on the new Thinkpad Yoga 12 2015

Hi,

The base spec and hardware maintenance manual should help with this.

Base Spec

(English) Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad Yoga 12

Please note that neither the 2.5 inch HDD/SSD or m.2 SSD are listed as self-service CRU (customer replaceable unit) or optional-service CRU so you may face warranty issues if you attempt this yourself.

I ordered ca. 1 mo. ago a top config as above with 8GB DRAM and 220GB SSD (SanDisk), FHD IPS with active digitizer (classic 1-button pen, w/0 battery)... basically the max out config, for ca. $1800 with corporate discount (you can figure out easily which 3-letter i'm with...) Got it yesterday with win7 (downgrade path from 8.1), installed win 10 build 9926 and gave it a 24 hr joy ride - as most of my other few dozen TP's (my workhorse is still a w520, last true TP with 7-row KB and eSATA).  Performance: Nearly on par with a w530 for real jobs w/o sustained 100% load, despite the limited DRAM. Except major games, 4K displays @ 60fps impossible via the unspecified miniHDMI, and some specialty apps which i run remotely anyway, this 12" ca carry thru long days of work like a mini-workhorse.However, at 1.6Kg it's over 2x heavier than the lightest M-based machines today - yet those don't have upgradeable HDD, battery and m.2 SSD's i can replace.  Battery: light browsing on min. brightness in Power Saver mode, will last ca. 5hrs on wifi. Not nearly the 13-hrs of a 13" Mac, yet not much worse than my larger w-series. Heat: Improved thermal design, the TDP 15W i7 is indeed quasi fan-less in the above mode. The bottom and KB remain cool also in tablet mode, which has an inherently worse cooling. Thru a 12+ hrs. day i heard the fan barely 3-4 times for few 10s of sec in a 22C room, laptop flat on hard wooden table (no metal trays as i use for my larger w an... Read more

It would be great if you could keeps us posted of your battery experience. As for glossy vs. matte, I think on the old TP Yoga people were able to remove the anti-glare coating, but that's not for the faint of heart, and might not even work here.   Looking forward to receiving mine and checking out the battery life first hand.

My Yoga 14 has a permanent 6dB bass boost from the line out, and some reduction at mid (and further) at high frequencies. This makes it unusable for many applications for me. Terrible. I bet it's some mistake in the drivers. I'm running windows 8. Really poor show. Lenovo just get worse and worse the further they are from IBM.  Plus there's a clearly audible whistle around 10k permanently which is very annoying when using this as audio output device. Very plasticky build qualtiy - case creaks a lot when slight pressure applied (bendy case) - this is not really a propper thinkpad. Much wose than any other Thinkpad I've owned. Might send it back on these grounds as it's not fit for my purpose.

I just ordered a 2015 ThinkPad Yoga 12 configured with 16GB M2 SSD and 512GB HDD. I was wondering if anyone here has already done drive upgrades on this system. Apparently the M2 SSD is 42mm, and the 2.5" HDD is 7mm tall.  I'm considering upgrading to a 256GB M2 main drive + 512GB SDD data drive, which could be done for $330 total at the moment ($110 for 256GB 42mm M2, $20 for an M.2 to USB adapter, and $200 for a 512GB 7mm SSD).  My main question: does anyone know what is on each drive in this config? Is the OS entirely on the M2, and is the HDD just blank? Or is e.g. the recovery partition on the HDD? So info that might help others:- see this video for the location of the 42mm SSD- see this detailed description on how to upgrade a single HDD TP Yoga to an SSD + HDD system- see this post for info and pictures on how to clone a HDD to an SSD using Easus Todo Backup - If the OS is on the M.2 I could get an extermal enclosure like this one to clone directly from M.2 to M.2.

Post your shipping and order management experiences here:

Here are some common points of frequent discussion:

Avoid Credit Holds - ensure that BOTH your bill to and ship to addresses are listed with your CC bank before ordering
Lenovo will NOT bill your card until order ships - an authorization charge hold to check for available balance may show up when order is first placed.
Estimated ship dates are based on default lead time and can vary from what was displayed on website.
In the US and Canada, Lenovo utilizes UPS for new product shipments
Orders may ship before the Estimated Ship Date
Orders may enter through Alaska and pass through Louisville, KY before traveling on to final address
Cancellation requests may take up to 2 days to process
Requests to change configuration or other aspects of the order may require the order to be rebooked.
Lenovo does not accept payment via international credit cards, except AMEX.

Hi In the Bios, I set "Always On USB" to disabled. According to the description, this should "disable USB ports during low power states [standby, hibernate or power-off]." Contrary to this description, all USB ports remain powered during standby (S3, Suspend-to-Ram). I tried with USB ports on both sides of the device. Any ideas how to solve this problem? Regards,--RalpH

Hello all, I would like to order the Thinkpad Yoga with the normal Windows 8.1 (core) version, not the Pro one. The core version doesn't support Bitlocker but I heard of the new device encryption which is similar:http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/10/windows-8-1-includes-seamless-automatic-disk-e... One of the requirements is that the hardware supports Connected Standby. Could you please tell if this is the case with the new Thinkpad Yoga? Thank you for your help.Steve

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga: Connected Standby / Encryption / Bitlocker

Hi,I don't know about connected standby, but the W81 bitlocker does support disk hardware encryption, if the disk itself has it. I changed the hard disk to Samsung 840 pro SSD, made fresh windows install, and turned on bitlocker. The encryption was on immediately after required reboot. If it would have been usual software encryption, it would have started background encrypt, which takes a long time. Yoga has TPM, but needs group policy change for either USB for key or PIN. I had some unreliability issues with USB key. I wish the had TPM with fingerprint or NFC. Also, i don't now if any disk they offer supports hardware encryption.

Hey everyone I am out of ideas for this issue, I've never had a computer issue that I wasn't able to fix until now and it has got me stumped. The problem is windows standby, which I make use of especially on this computer which I got for college and needs to enter standby a lot (in and out of class, library, etc) What happens is that when there is less than 25% battery remaining (which for this system is still about 2 hours) and I enter standby mode either by closing the lid or using the keyboard shortcut or start menu option, the screen turns off and then the entire system freezes. It doesn't enter standby (fan still runs, lights still on) and if I try to get it back out of standby it won't wake up regardless of what keys are pressed or actions I take. The only thing left to do is force a reset by holding the power button or waiting for Windows to crash on its own (usually about 5 mins) and then the machine shuts off.

I've updated everything, drivers, software etc. Checked every power setting I can think of in Windows and in the Thinkpad power manager, checked that there are no conflicting programs, and done a few other things. Just really out of ideas and thinking that the only option is a full clean reinstall of Windows, which I was hoping to be able to avoid. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate your time and effort.

Thanks!

Hey Community, I recently upgraded to Windows 10, and so far no big issues except this one:In case two users are logged in at the same time and one of them closes the lid to enter standby, the Yoga reboots instead of going into standy. This happens only in case that more than one user is logged in into Windows. This was fine when I was using Windows 8.1, but stopped working in Windows 10. Another smaller issue: The Yoga does not enter tablet mode are asks for it, when folded into tablet. Auto screen rotation works fince btw and keyboard is nicely disabled in tablet mode. But Windows 10 doesn't recognize it. Any hints, especially on the first topic regarding Standby? PS: Clean Windows 10 install, default BIOS settings, default Energy Settings in Windows.

Tried searching this one here, no luck. I recent;ly purchased a Thinkpad Yoga 14 at Best Buy, from which I understand is a T400 so I hope I'm correct in posting in this section. I love the machine, however, after about a week it started developing a discolored region in the lower left corner: orange in color, circular in shape, about one half to three quarters of an inch in diameter. I searched the web and found for other devices, and solutions varying from returns to software based methods (of which I am dubious). Before I returned the device, I wanted to post here to get any input. Hi all, I'm new here. I've just got a ThinkPad Yoga (which is also my first ThinkPad laptop). The laptop comes standard with a 500GB mechanical HDD. I have tested all the functions and hardware, and everything works fine. Then I have replaced the 500GB HDD with a 256GB SSD, and made a clean install of Windows 8.1 with all the drivers and softwares from lenovo website. Here come two problems: 1. Some hotkeys do not work, e.g. wi-fi switch (same physical key F8). After quick research I have learned that I need to install the driver "Hotkey Features Integration". However, I cannot find this driver in ThinkPad Yoga page of Lenovo Website. Maybe Lenovo hasn't uploaded the driver yet. 2. When the screen goes off automatically, I cannot bring the screen back again. I tried to press every keys, click touchpad and click external mouse. The only way I can bring the screen back is to close the lid and let the laptop to sleep, and wake it up again. Both problems did not exist with the 500GB HDD and Lenovo preinstalled OS. So I think these problems are caused by driver/utility missing. But Lenovo hasn't uploaded all the drivers to the website yet.

Hallo, occasionally when i watch online a video (like Sky, Netflix, Crunchyroll) i have some issue with high cpu usage. The task "System Interrupts" use 10 - 20% of the cpu. It's really annoying, cause the fan will start and energie usage is twice as much. It's not always and sometimes it will stop, when i close the tap. This will not happen often. Mostly it still runs after everything is closed. So i have tried everything, what i could find in the internet, like disabling devices at "Device Manager", disable "all sound effects", deinstall anti-virus programm and some other things, but i cant find the issue. The latest drivers and Bios are intalled from https://pcsupport.lenovo.comI have already reinstalled Win 10 Pro x64.I thought it could be the intel gpu driver and wanted to install it from the intel website, but i got the error that it is the false driver for my gpu. actually it should be the right one. Intel(R) HD Graphics 620.Hope someone can help me. Thanks

Hello, my Thinkpad Yoga touchpad has decided to entirely stop working. Here's what happened: A couple of days ago, I re-start my computer. On boot, I get a beep error saying something along the lines of "device not found" and another saying "device number not correct." Sorry if I don't remember the details, I didn't think it would be a big issue at the time. It told me to press escape to continue and enter to enter setup. I click continue. It boot up, yet my touchpad was entirely non-functional. When looking at the device manager part of Lenovo Solution Center, I see the following: Drivers                                                            StatusUnknown Device                                            Not InstalledThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device               Disabled When I go into device manager, I see something different, however. I click "show hidden devices" and under "Mouse a... Read more

While working in a server enviroment (Windows Server 2008), the screen 'size' changes without reason, causing some of the functions of an application to not be accessible. For example, while using Microsoft word, if this occurs, the X to close the application will be completely off the screen. The resolution on the machine is currently set to 1280x768, as a preference to the user. This does not always occur right away, sometimes it happens within minutes of use, other times it may take hours. What could be the cause of this?

Hello All,  I wonder if anyone had any problems with NBD type warranty repairs? Long story short, one of our Thinkpads decided to fail, it has been raised with Lenovo Thinkpad service team, and diagnosed as faulty system board. As unit was still covered under NBD warranty, engineer request has been processed, and all nessesary parts dispatched so unit can be repaired. Unfortunately, 3 attempts to get engineer in has been done, and he did not showed up even once to repair unit! Now, case has been escallated to Complains team, yet no one even tried to contact me in order to get this issue resolved... Is there direct line to someone in complains department? That whole situation is completly unacceptable and there seems to be no one capable of resolving this issue. Can someone advise? Service case number 4054M8M, escallation number 01468014.  Best regardsPiotr Skrzypczyk

Hi, there I just brought a yoga to replace my mac book. Everything is fine except there is a two finger scroll issue. I use two fingers to scroll the webpage and when I lift one finger and try to use the other one to move the arrow, the touchpad still function as I am using two fingers to scroll. So now I have to fully lift two fingers from scrolling and then use one to touch the touch pad to navigate the arrow. This is really annoying and I never had this experince on my macbook touch pad. I have updated all drives and tried all options in mouse setting. Nothing can make this better. Any body any suggestions? Thanks a lot Matt

I've got the ghosting issue on my yoga as well.  It was OK for the first few weeks (no noticeable ghosting at all) but now it only takes around a minute of having something on screen for ghosting to appear when switching to something else.

I'm in the process of sending my yoga in for repair as I'm experiencing some other issues, so I've asked them to repair the screen as well.  From what I've read, it's likely they won't be able to fix it (in which case I'll be asking for a refund) but I'll see how it goes.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - ghosting / after-image / watermark issue

I've got a Thinkpad Yoga 20CD-0033US at Fry's Electronics. At almost 3 weeks of my purchase, I noticed using a desktop app that after 5 minutes, the screen starts "memorizing" the images that are static, like the explorer bar and the Start logo. This gets worst if the image has white and is big, because more time the image remains, more bold gets on the screen. I'm not sure if it's a driver problem or is about the build quality of the screen.I have to add than I'm very disappointed with the build quality of this computer. The one that I'm using is the SECOND ONE!, because the first stopped working at the third day, and this second one has design flaws, like a defective "B" letter and visible spaces between the screen and its housing. Very unacceptable for a $1300 laptop. If somebody has any software solution for my screen problem I would appreciate it, because I live outside the US and the technical service here in Colombia doesn't answer (sorry for my English).

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Sleep / Power Issue With Windows 10

Hi Which is the issue? It does not sleep or power down? or it sleeps too much? I'm not sure but I will check the "Edit Power Plan" on Windows first, if that is not working properly I will try first updating the Lenovo Power Management drivers. Regards

Hello all,I've finally made my decision and purchased the Thinkpad Yoga last May of 2014 -- That Thinkpad Yoga (http://tinyurl.com/kornr3q) to be exact. What a wonderful machine it is, and I immediately fell in love with it!However, sadly a few months ago, the screen retention began to become an issue, a serious one, and weirdly enough, my USB slots are acting funny whenever I have a "detectable" device connected (such as phone, storage, camera, etc). I still have about 180 on my Lenovo original warranty, which I still can extend to another 2-3 years if I wanted to. and I also have purchased another 3-4 years 3rd party warranty from amazon. Both still valid to this date.I'm wondering, am I still eligible for a return? If yes, is there a chance for me to get the improved 2nd gen Yoga? if yes, would you guys be so kind and guide me through the process if you're familiar/experienced.If not, what would you guys advise me to do? What would you do in my situation? If you don't know, can you direct me to someone who might know and and maybe willing to help? That'll really mean a lot, and I'd very much appreciate any help I could get. Thanks a lot in advance! regards,

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - ghosting / after-image / watermark issue

I've sent mine to the RMA (within 12 months period after purchase) and they have replaced the LCD under warranty. Seems to be the problem with many Thinkpad Yogas. Gosting does not occur now. Regards, P.

Hey all, just thought I'd leave my 2 cents here. I bought a Thinkpad Yoga i7 version from the Microsoft store for a pretty decent price, knowing the potential issues it has but under the assurance of a 30 day warranty. It's an absolutely lovely laptop, and it knocks everything else out of the park in almost every regard... however after a couple days of using and constantly inspecting it for any issues, it began to display minor ghosting issues. With the checkerboard test, it showed a faint but long lasting retention (for a minute or two). Not only that, but I'm noticing a faint yellow splotch on the middle left portion of the screen.  I'm very disappointed with this because this machine is absolutely fantastic in every regard, but I'm almost certain I'm going to have to end up returning it within the next few days. I should note that I do have the SPB2 updated screen, so it seems that the new screen unfortunately doesn't resolve these issues. It's a shame for the computer to be so well built but have a poorly built screen to top it off. I'll hold onto the laptop for another week or so while I look for a suitable replacement, and see if the conditions worsen or plateau as it is now and let you guys know. It's sad to see such a wonderful machine to be plagued by such minor but deal-breaking issues, and I hope Lenovo can address them accordingly as they'll be producing one heck of a laptop.

Answer:Re: Thinkpad Yoga - ghosting / after-image / watermark issue

@dave - That are really bad news regarding the SPB2 panel.  In my case, It's been a week and a half since I got my first screen replacement, unfortunately spb1 model, and the ghosting in this one is much worse than in the previous one. It appears after one minute using chrome, and is stronger. On monday I will get my third screen, and then let's see what happens, but I am really disappointed whit this issue. That's not a matter of perception, I haven't seen so a strong ghosting in any modern device. It lasts for around 5 minutes to completely dissapear.Anyone here with experience getting a refund in Germany?Regards

Hello everyone. Since having installed windows 10 and updating to latest conexant audio driver (8.66.16.50) from windows update, I have once and a while an issue: After starting the computer, every app that uses audio forces closes, and is unable to playback any audio. Examples: video players (potplayer), audio player (foobar), internet players (shockwave in chrome). The only solution is to reboot the computer. More often, the computer starts without issue, and then the whole session goes normally with audio playback until shutting off. I found a windows error message, in the logs, telling that conexant smartaudio service has failed to launch. Indeed, at startup, a service call "conexant smartaudio service" tries to launch Sasrv.exe in system32 and fails, because that same file is located in sysWOW64, not in system32. An other error found in the logs is about a failing app "C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUDIODG.EXE" and a failing module "C:\WINDOWS\system32\CX64BP16.dll". Obviously, I already had the audio driver uninstalled, the computer rebooted, the driver reinstalled (same version from lenovo this time), and the computer rebooted. Issue still persists.

Is it possible to put a screen with the digitizer built in and install it in a yoga that did not originally come with a digitizer? I've got a 20CD-0032US  and was hoping a screen swap would be able to add the capability. Thanks

Just to be clear, this is the laptop that I have. I need a pen for it. Any pen at all. Does one exist? Every single pen I've found, people say it doesn't work with this specific laptop. I have friends with lenovo laptops and I've tried their pens on mine and it doesn't work. My finger works fine, but I can't take notes in class like that. I have a pen that works on my iPad, but I don't really like it. I tried it on the Yoga, and it did work, but it was downright terrible. It only picked up about half the time. Lenovo has a thinkpad yoga pen on their website, but I'm quite positive that won't work with this model. So is there anywhere I can a suitable pen? Thanks.

Answer:Yoga 3 14 Digitizer Pen

The yoga 3 14 does NOT have a digitizer layer under the LCD panel. Which means NO digitizer pen will ever work with it. Trust me, im typing from my yoga 3 14 now. The 14" Thinkpad yoga does however suppport pen input. Your only option for a pen is one of those capacative pens with a rubber tip.

Question: Yoga 910 Digitizer

I bought a Yoga 910, as I found out, it doesn't support active pens.  I see on a few sites they sell the display assembly.  https://www.amazon.com/910-14IKB-910-14ISK-Digitizer-Display-Assembly/dp/B071JV7R17 I wanted to know are these screens legit?  It was marketed without active support, but do they sell the screens with the digitizers in them seperately now?

Answer:Yoga 910 Digitizer

That just looks like a replacement screen for the 910, no different to the one that comes with the laptop - it doesn't have a pen digitizer.

Hello, my Lenovo yoga 13 display is broken (just digitizer, not the whole display, LCD and everything other inside is ok) and I'm looking for new. On ebay and other public stores, I found only whole display or lot of digitizers for yoga 11 but not for 13. Is there another way how to get new digitizer without buying the whole display? On repair service, they want 11 000 CZK (about 650$) for replacement but they want to replace the whole display, which is not necessary in my case. Thanks to all for reply

Answer:Digitizer for Yoga 13

Good luck on your search! I broke my screen a little while ago on my yoga 13, and it was $300 usd for a new screen, but now I'm getting weird errors with it. Best of luck, please follow up if you find a solution since it's helpful for others!

Yoga ThinkPad upgrade to Windows 10.  My horizontal area at the bottom of the Touchpad scrolls the screen up and down, and the right vertical area of the Touchpad scrolls the screen left to right.  The reverse direction choices only reverse up/down or left/right and not how the horizontal/vertical areas operate. Did anyone else experience this?  Thanks.

I have been asked to see if I can obtain some advice on the Calibration tool for the ThinkPad Yoga on Windows 7. The query comes from someone setting up the Yoga as the standard devices for a large number of people.  Corporate policy means Windows 7 Enterprise is the OS in place. The issue they have is wishing to allow standard users who do not have any local administrative permissions the ability to run the calibrartion tool which appears to allow only those with administrative permissions to do so? Any suggestions?
